Resumen

Projektet undersöker det lokala landskapet som potentiell värdeskapare i en tid av ekonomisk nedgång. Projektet utgår ifrån staden Venedigs planer på stadsförnyelse på den tidigare båtvarvstomten på ön St Elena. Metoden har varit att studera det befintliga och utifrån det försöka finna nya rumsliga lösningar på dagens och framtidens krav. Förslaget innefattar gestaltning av en planerad park och de två närmast angränsande kvarteren. Det består av en inplanterad biotop i form av en salt våtmark som är en viktig livsmiljö för djur och växter ute i lagunen. Det byggda tillägget är en träkonstruktion som fungerar som en länk mellan de tätare planerade kvarteren och det nya grönområdet. Mot gatan är arkitekturen en solid vägg med entréer medan mötet med parken består av en mjukare, sekventiell övergång mellan arkitektur och landskap. Projektet visar på hur en attraktiv stads- och boendemiljö kan skapas då biologisk mångfald och matproduktion blir en del av staden. På så vis skapas värde och mening i staden.
The project investigates the local landscape as a potential creator of value in a time of economic decline. The project is based on the city of Venice's plans for urban renewal on a former boatyard site on the island of St. Elena. The method has been to study the existing structure as a starting point to find new spatial solutions to current and future requirements. The proposal includes the design of a planned park and the two neighboring blocks. It consists of an implanted salt marsh which is an important habitat for animals and plants around the lagoon. The built addition is a wooden structure that serves as a link between the denser parts of the planned district and the new green area. The architecture arrange itself in the orthogonal urban structure towards the street side, while the meeting with the park consists of a softer, sequential transition between architecture and landscape. The project demonstrates how an attractive urban and residential environment can be created where biodiversity and food production becomes part of the city. Thus creating value and meaning in the city.

Resumen

The thesis "Crossroad: Elena Poniatowska and the New Journalism" discusses the literary genre invented in Mexico by Elena Poniatowska, within which occurs an interesting symbiosis between literature and journalism. This is achieved through a dual scientific approach: the first, related to the dissolution of literary genres (Georg Lukacs, Robert Scholes, David Lodge, John Hellmann and Robert Kellogg), the second, connected with journalism (Tom Wolfe, Norman Mailer and Truman Capote) enriched through numerous texts related to New Journalism which evidences, in particular, the figure of Elena Poniatowska (Michael Schuessler, Carlos Monsiváis, Elena Urrutia, Claudia Parodi). Thanks to an ambitious Lukacsian reflection on the concept of "form" that becomes "opened", the falsity of fixed artistic genres and the impossibility of reaching any true and permanent definition in the contemporary era is proved. Its outcome is New Journalism and its Hispanic counterpart Nuevo Periodismo, characterized by a pervasive hybridity between various fields of art. The research focuses on the work of the Mexican writer in which realism and fiction -which correspond, respectively, to the historical document and imagination-, once combined, create historical literature with a clear fictional element. The fusion of these two parts is studied through readings of the testimonial novel Hasta no verte, Jesús mío (1969), the chronicle-production -Todo empezó el domingo (1963), El último guajolote (1982), La noche de Tlatelolco (1971), Fuerte es el silencio (1986), No den las gracias (1980), Gaby (1979)-, the novels Tinísima (1992), Leonora (2011), and the short story Querido Diego, te abraza Quiela (1978); related to historical figures and true events marked by the fantasy of the artist, which normally tends to the aesthetic pleasure, far removed from historical meaning. The fruit of this union, that is the indisputable novelty of the Poniatowska's production, sparks serious debates about the aesthetic value and truthfulness of her writing, which constitute the focus of this research. Reflecting upon the theories of Robert Scholes and John Hellmann according to which the contemporary writer “at the crossroad” is faced with the necessity of choosing the path of either freedom of fantasy or documentary realism for their own narratives, the work of Elena Poniatowska should be seen as the center of this intersection and not the starting point of the split between fantasy literature and documentary realism. In this way, the thesis confirms the absence of fixed definitions and absolute values. Indeed, opposites aquire the same intrinsic value in the work of the Mexican writer, considered within the postmodern context where Poniatowska's opinion that “hay tanta verdad en la literatura fantástica como en la literatura realista” still rings true (Schuessler, 2009, p. 145).
La tesi “Crossroad: Elena Poniatowska y el Nuevo Periodismo” analizza il genere letterario coltivato in Messico da Elena Poniatowska, in cui avviene un interessante incontro tra letteratura e giornalismo. Per raggiungere tale proposito, si ricorre a un doppio approccio scientifico: da un lato legato alla discussione relativa ai generi letterari (Georg Lukacs, Robert Scholes, David Lodge, John Hellmann e Robert Kellogg), dall'altro, al giornalismo (Tom Wolfe, Norman Mailer e Truman Capote), arricchito dalla saggistica relativa al New Journalism riguardante, in particolare, la figura di Elena Poniatowska (Michael Schuessler, Carlos Monsiváis, Elena Urrutia, Claudia Parodi). Attraverso una riflessione sul concetto lukacsiano della "forma", il lavoro mette in luce la falsità dei generi artistici "prestabiliti" e "definiti", arrivando alla consapevolezza dell'impossibilità di qualunque definizione fissa e permanente nell'epoca contemporanea. Il suo frutto è il New Journalism e la sua corrispettiva versione ispanica, il Nuevo Periodismo, caratterizzato dall'onnipresente ibridismo tra vari campi artistici. Lo studio si focalizza sull'opera della scrittrice messicana Elena Poniatowska in cui il documento storico e la finzione si mescolano, creando la letteratura di carattere storico-testimoniale che include anche elementi di tipo fittizio. L’unione di questi componenti è studiata attraverso la novela-testimonio Hasta no verte, Jesús mío (1969), la produzione cronistica -Todo empezó el domingo (1963), El último guajolote (1982), La noche de Tlatelolco (1971), Fuerte es el silencio (1986), No den las gracias (1980), Gaby (1979)-, i romanzi Tinísima (1992) e Leonora (2011), ed il racconto breve Querido Diego, te abraza Quiela (1978); riguardanti personaggi storici ed avvenimenti realmente accaduti, segnati dalla fantasia dell'artista, più interessata al volore estetico che alla verità della storia. La novità della produzione di Elena Poniatowska suscita forti dibattiti intorno al valore estetico e veritiero della sua scrittura e costituisce il nucleo del presente studio. Ripensando alle teorie di Robert Scholes e John Hellmann che vedono l’opera dello scrittore contemporaneo at the crossroad -tra la libertà della fantasia ed il realismo documentale-, la produzione di Elena Poniatowska viene percepita non come il punto di partenza della divisione tra la letteratura ed il giornalismo, ma la meta a cui giungono queste due modalità di scrittura. La tesi conferma così l'assenza di sicurezze complete e di valori assoluti ed equipara il valore degli opposti, inserendo la scrittrice messicana nel contesto postmoderno, in cui “hay tanta verdad en la literatura fantástica como en la literatura realista” (Schuessler, 2009, p. 145).

La literatura femenina o literatura escrita por mujeres ha alcanzado en el siglo XX una posición plenamente consolidada. Durante este siglo se internacionalizó la escritura de las mujeres, relacionada con la necesidad de su autoafirmación y su necesidad de sentirse consideradas partícipes de la Historia. Se puede rastrear una cierta presencia constante femenina en la obra literaria de Elena Poniatowska, una autora considerablemente conocida en el ámbito literario y periodístico en México, una de las entrevistadoras más destacadas del periodismo mexicano y también como una de las autoras más notables del género de la crónica. Sus crónicas, entrevistas, reportajes y artículos pertenecen a lo que se ha nombrado Nuevo Periodismo del cual Poniatowska es sin duda una de sus mejores representantes. La presente tesis pretende examinar en particular su novela Leonora (2011) y una de las características peculiares que destaca en toda su producción literaria, es decir la absoluta hibridación de los géneros, su diversidad formal. Con cada libro, la escritora mexicana experimenta y mezcla géneros distintos que cohabitan en el texto. Este proceso de mezcla de géneros nace ya desde el principio de la historia de América, en la conciencia occidental, gracias a las Crónicas de Indias, narraciones históricas que marcan el nacimiento de la literatura latinoamericana y cuyos textos cruzan el dato documental con la narrativa, la historia con la ficción.

Resumen

This doctoral thesis focuses on the investigation of innovative functional materials for the development of sensing applications, which use electrochemiluminescence (ECL) technology as transduction technique. The demand for highly sensitive, selective and reliable sensors able to perform fast, economic and easy detection in clinical and analytical chemistry increases constantly. Among the electrochemical techniques, ECL is the most suitable transduction method for sensing applications. In fact, due to the electrochemical nature of the signal generation, extremely high range of sensitivity and very low detection limits can be reached. Moreover, the generation of the signal is achieved directly in situ, which enables spatial visualization and mapping of the signal distribution. This property of the ECL can be exploited for the imaging of small objects, such as micro-particles or cells, deposited directly on the surface of the electrode. In addition, efforts have been made to understand the complex interplay of the chemical and electrochemical reactions responsible of the signal generation at the electrode surface. The collected information might help towards the improvement of the technology at the basis of the ECL sensors, in order to obtain higher sensitivity and selectivity. The functional materials studied in this thesis present different electrochemical characteristics and are expressly designed for sensor applications. In particular, the proper selection of the material and its optimization assure high performances of the device. For example, the combination of supramolecular chemistry with the ECL technology can be exploited for the development of a sensor for the early diagnosis of prostate cancer, or the excellent electrochemical properties of carbon-based materials can be used for the imaging of biological samples with high spatial resolution.

This dissertation is aimed at analysing the documentary film Elena, by Petra Costa, as to its visual and sonorous element narrative organization. It is a film that exposes the film-maker's relationship with the fact that her older sister - Elena - committed suicide in the early 1990s. Pain and resilience run through the narrative in a very particular, poetic and confessional way. In the course of this essay, the understanding of what is a documentary film in its most varied facets are discussed, dealing especially with its poetic and performative documentary side due to the characteristics of the purpose of the study. The ethics and dilemmas of the representation of reality in the film also contribute to the fundamental theoretical grounds for this research. From a detailed plan-to-plan division of the documentary, three main themes were chosen to guide the analysis: the section describing Elena's suicide; the confusion regarding the image of Elena and Petra; and the sharing of the film-maker's mourning due to her sister's death.
Esta tese objetiva analisar o documentário Elena, de Petra Costa, no que se refere à organização narrativa de seus elementos visuais e sonoros. Trata-se de um filme que expõe a relação da cineasta com o fato de sua irmã mais velha - Elena - ter se suicidado no início dos anos 1990. A dor e a superação percorrem a narrativa de forma muito particular, poética e confessional. No decorrer do trabalho discute-se o entendimento do que é um documentário nas suas mais variadas facetas, em especial a vertente do documentário poético e performático, devido às características do objeto de estudo. A ética e os dilemas da representação da realidade no documentário também contribuem para o embasamento teórico desta pesquisa. A partir de uma detalhada divisão plano a plano do documentário, foram escolhidos três temas principais para nortear a análise: o trecho em que se descreve o suicídio de Elena; a confusão da imagem de Elena e Petra; e o compartilhamento do luto da cineasta devido à morte da irmã.

This dissertation deals with the theme of violence in four works by Elena Poniatowska: Tinisima, La noche de Tlatelolco, Fuerte es el silencio, and Hasta no verte Jesus mio . It consists of an analysis on the way in which violence is to be found in the four narratives by Poniatowska, as applies the theory of effect of Hans Robert Jauss in the principal area of analysis. The method of analysis is carried out in pairs: Hasta no verte Jesus mio and Tinisima, due to the fact that both of these works are novels in which the protagonists are of female gender, as opposed to: La noche de Tlatelolco and Fuerte es el silencio which are testimonial works in which the theme of violence is of an intensive political nature throughout the whole book. Because of the magnitude and complexity of violence, the nature of violence is explained with an interdisciplinary approach in order to cover its multidimensional framework within the four works. There is an emphasis on the way that violence perpetrates the lives of the female characters, even though the study includes the presence of violence in the lives of the male characters with whom they interact, as well as in the political environment in which they exist. The major contribution of this dissertation is the fact that it is the first so far, to study violence as the main theme in four works by Elena Poniatowska, and which with an interdisciplinary approach to the explanation of violence, promotes the interaction of literature with other areas of study to bring about a more complete analysis and understanding of social issues in literature, such as the study of violence. In the four works by Poniatowska studied in this dissertation we may also take into consideration the fact that the author deals with violence in historical events, and that the main characters are real life characters whose lives are written in the midst of a hostile and volatile environments.

Il primo capitolo affronta in maniera sintetica la storia del racconto bulgaro e la vita e le opere dell’autrice. Nel secondo si concentra invece la parte fondamentale del lavoro, ossia la proposta di traduzione del racconto. Nel terzo ed ultimo capitolo viene affrontata la storia della traduzione e vengono analizzate le scelte traduttive adottate. РЕЗЮМЕ В дипломната работа се предлага превод от български на италиански и някои размисли върху превода на разказа Преводачът от Елена Алексиева. Първата глава синтетично обобщава историята на българския разказ и живота и творчеството на авторката. Втората част се фокусира върху фундаменталната част на работата, т.е. на предложения превод на разказа. The subject of this thesis is Leonora written by Elena Poniatowska. The aim of the study is to analyze the literary technique and strategy used in constructing this book which depicts the life of a famous painter, Leonora Carrington. The analysis concentrates on two aspects: the extent of its feminist character and whether it can be classified as a fictional biography or a biographic fiction. In order to arrive at a conclusion on these issues a brief summary of literary and feminist theory is presented as well as a short description of relevant aspects of the surrealist movement. According to the author Leonora does not pretend to be a biography but rather a tribute to a great woman and artist. This esay however sustains that the book is a feminist fictional biography. In fact it builds upon books written by Carrington herself with a highly autobiographical content as well as on biographical texts. Both the author and her protoganist are well-known for their feminist stand and the analysis shows how feminist theory or thinking is reflected both on behalf on the writer as well as in the construction of the hero and certain aspects of her life that build up this biographical fiction.

Resumen

This master thesis presents a study of the authorship of the Italian writer Elena Ferrante, focusing on hermain concepts “la frantumaglia” and “la smarginatura” in relation to the question of literary truth. Thepurpose is to examine the fascinating interaction between meta reflection and narration through anintratextual reading of her poetics elaborated in La frantumaglia (2013, 2016) and all novels publishedso far. With references to the theories of Sigmund Freud and Jacques Lacan, la frantumaglia and lasmarginatura are interpreted as the unconscious and different mental disorders that characterize the crisisof the female protagonists. The analysis examines literary truth on three literary levels: the verbal,considering the Neapolitan dialect related to the city of Naples as a representation of both maternalorigin and patriarchal oppression, the stylistic, viewing la smarginatura as literary style, and finally, thesymbolic, connected to what Ferrante calls the “symbolic sphere of the authentic”. Furthermore, anintellectual approach to truth is discussed as a contraposition to the others. In applying the methodologyof Michael Riffaterre, the analysis of the stylistic and symbolic truth dimensions shows how theiridiosyncratic traits are extended and transformed throughout the Ferrantian work. The thesis alsosuggests a different interpretation of the intimate relationship between mother and daughter, one of theauthorship’s central themes. Unlike previous studies with a psychoanalytical approach that affirms theexistence of a pre-oedipal phase free from patriarchal intrusion, this analysis demonstrates how Ferranterepeatedly reveals this idea as an infantile fantasy. Instead, the thesis argues that the only real synthesisis found at the level of writing itself, in the merging of the perspectives of the two protagonists in thecycle of L’amica geniale (The Neapolitan novels). This synthesis is further conceived as the authenticidentity of the anonymous author herself.

Visto lo straordinario successo mondiale della quadrilogia L’amica geniale di Elena Ferrante, questa tesi si pone l’obiettivo di analizzare la traduzione in cinese del primo volume e di spiegare quale sia stata la ricezione di un romanzo italiano di tale valore da parte del pubblico cinese. L’amica geniale è indubbiamente uno dei capolavori della letteratura italiana degli ultimi dieci anni. Pubblicata a partire dal 2011, la quadrilogia è diventata in breve tempo un best-seller in tutto il mondo, ottenendo il primo posto anche nelle classifiche dei libri più letti in Cina. Basato sulla storia della travagliata amicizia che legherà per sempre Elena e Lila, due bambine provenienti da un rione povero della periferia di Napoli, il romanzo si presenta come il racconto indiretto dell’evoluzione storica e sociale dell’Italia del Secondo Novecento. L’opera si contraddistingue dunque per una forte connotazione italiana e, in particolar modo, regionale: il presente lavoro è quindi incentrato sull’analisi della traduzione in cinese di tutti gli elementi culturo-specifici che contribuiscono alla creazione dell’immagine dell’Italia e della realtà locale in cui è ambientata la quadrilogia. Considerando, poi, l’universalità dei temi trasmessi da L’amica geniale, che ne hanno favorito il consenso internazionale, questa tesi si focalizza anche sull’impatto che il romanzo ha avuto sui lettori e sulle lettrici cinesi, provenienti da un background culturale molto distante da quello italiano.

Resumen

La presente ricerca analizza il libro Malen’kie ispancy (I piccoli spagnoli) di Elena Kononenko, un’opera per l’infanzia sul tema dei bambini spagnoli che descrive le vicende del primo contingente di minori evacuato in URSS nel marzo 1937 e il loro ambientamento nello stato sovietico. Secondo il nostro approccio, che scaturisce dall’insegnamento lotmaniano, abbiamo cercato di interpretare il testo nel suo contesto letterario e socio-culturale. Il primo è dato dal realismo socialista, l’arte di regime sostituitasi negli anni Trenta alla pluralità di movimenti artistici esistenti in Russia; il secondo, strettamente interrelato al primo, è costituito dalla Russia stalinista, una società totalitaria priva di qualsiasi spazio per diversità e dissenso, che si ripropone di formare una nuova generazione di perfetti comunisti. Da questo contesto emerge come l’opera di Kononenko, così come tutta la letteratura sovietica per l’infanzia, svolga funzioni didattico-formative. I bambini spagnoli vengono utilizzati come modello di comunisti ideali: il loro viaggio dalla Spagna all’URSS e la permanenza presso il campo pioneristico Artek permettono di descrivere il modello di famiglia sovietica, nonché l’importanza dell’educazione collettiva e del movimento dei Pionieri, pilastri del processo di formazione dell’homo sovieticus. Sul piano letterario, Malen’kie ispancy si rivela composto per intero da un montaggio di materiali apparsi sui giornali nei mesi precedenti, dai quali Kononenko estrapola articoli, lettere, disegni e fotografie seguendo il metodo fattografico. Tale approccio, mirante a una perfetta coincidenza tra opera d’arte e realtà, è confermato dalla mancanza di intreccio nell’opera, la cui struttura finale è il risultato dell’inglobamento del discorso fattografico, rivoluzionario in origine, da parte del sistema culturale sovietico che lo spoglia della sua originaria matrice avanguardistica per trasformarlo in un genere del socrealizm.

Resumen

Scopo della presente tesi è di indagare le risposte della teoria e dei movimenti femministi nella letteratura italiana contemporanea. Sono state scelte pertanto due scrittrici come rappresentative di due importanti momenti storici, ovvero la Morante che ha vissuto direttamente l'estensione del voto alle donne e la Ferrante, che ha invece visto l'allargamento dei diritti femminili, in particolare aborto e divorzio. Si tratta di temi di estrema importanza per la cultura e letteratura italiana, di cui si cerca corrispondenza nell'evoluzione dei personaggi femminili delle due scrittrici.

Resumen

Jurgis Kunčinas (1947—2003) romane „Tūla“ pateikia dviejų bohemos atstovų meilės istoriją, kurioje literatūros tyrinėtoja Elena Nijolė Bukelienė įžvelgia postmodernizmo bruožų. Vokietijoje susiformavęs postmodernizmas pasižymi veikėjų apatija supančiam pasauliui, aplinkiniams, ironija. Ji tampa gynybine priemone veikėjui, kurio netenkina esamas gyvenimas ir jis žino, kad nieko negali pakeisti. Abejojama Dievu, amžinybe, veikėjų pasaulis susiskaidęs, gyvenimas priimamas kaip žaidimas. J. Kunčino romane elgiamasi priešingai – pagrindinis veikėjas myli Tūlą ir po mirties, mėgaujasi bohema. Ji, ironija, šikšnosparnio motyvas pagrindiniam „Tūlos“ veikėjui padeda pabėgti nuo jo netenkinančios tikrovės. Ironija kyla daugiau iš linksmo gyvenimo būdo, dirbtinio atsipalaidavimo, nei iš intelektualių paskatų. „Tūla“ nėra ir grynai magiškojo realizmo kūrinys, nes veikėjas nepriima tikrovės, bet nuo jos bėga vartodamas alkoholį, įsivaizduodamas esąs šikšnosparnis. Tai, kad įvedamas šikšnosparnio motyvas, gali priminti fantazijos ir tikrovės maišymą, kuriuo paremtas magiškasis realizmas. Tik „Tūloje“ šikšnosparnis neatlieka žaidybinės funkcijos, kaip, pavyzdžiui, sapnas David’o Madsen’o romane „Sapnų dėžutė“, šikšnosparnis yra veikėjui reikalinga, svarbi detalė. J. Kunčino romaną „Tūla“ galima įvardinti kaip lietuvių tautos sąmonės kūrinį. Jame iš pirmo žvilgsnio galima rasti magiškojo realizmo ir postmodernizmo bruožų, bet tai būtų tik paviršutinis pastebėjimas. „Tūloje“... [toliau žr. visą tekstą]
The novel “Tūla” by Jurgis Kunčinas (1947 – 2003) presents the love story of two bohemia representatives in which Elena Nijolė Bukelienė, the literature researcher, notices the features of postmodernism. Postmodernism originated in Germany is distinguished by the characters‘ apathy for the world surrounding them, people round about, irony. It becomes the defensive means for the character who is dissatisfied with the present life and he knows that he can not change anything. The characters doubt the God, eternity, their world is decomposed, the life is understood as a game. The behaviour in Jurgis Kunčinas‘ novel is contrary – the main character loves Tūla even after his death, enjoys bohemia. She, irony, the motive of the bat help the main character of “Tūla” to escape the unsatisfying reality. Irony rises from the cheerful lifestyle, artificial relaxation but not from intellectual inducements. “Tūla” is not a work of pure magic realism since the character does not accept the reality but he escapes it drinking alcohol, seeing himself as a bat. The fact that the motive of the bat is introduced can remind of the confusion of fantasy and reality on which magic realism is based. However, the bat does not perform the function of games in “Tūla” as, for example, the dream in David Madsen’s novel “The Box of Dreams” („Sapnų dėžutė”), the bat is a necessary, important detail for the character. J. Kunčinas’ novel “Tūla” can be called the work of Lithuanian consciousness. At first... [to full text]
