Resumen
Enzymatic chicken pulp (ECP) is an animal protein source that has been proven to be of excellent nutritional content and good quality for the majority of aquatic organisms because of its quality protein, small peptides, palatability, vitamins, and minerals. An 8-week nutritional trial was conducted to assess the effects of an ECP-based diet on the growth performance, digestive enzyme activity, and gene mRNA expression of Pacific white shrimp (Litopenaeus vannamei). Fish soluble pulp (FSP) served as the control group while in the experimental groups, and ECPs with three protein contents were used to replace FSP in equal amounts, named ECP1, ECP2, and ECP3, respectively. No significant difference in weight gain rate, specific growth rate, survival rate, or feed conversion ratio was observed (p > 0.05) between the groups. Ash content in the Pacific shrimp’s whole body was significantly higher in the ECP1 and ECP3 groups compared to the other groups (p < 0.05). Intestinal amylase and protease activities were the highest in the ECP1 and ECP2 groups, respectively (p < 0.05). With respect to gene mRNA expression, neuropeptide Y, excitatory amino acid transporter, and fatty acid transport protein 4 were significantly high in the ECP1 group (p < 0.05). In conclusion, these three ECPs have their advantages to replace FSP in shrimp feed, but ECP1 is more effective if the effects of digestive enzyme activity, appetite, and expression of growth-related genes are considered.

Resumen
ObjectiveMany children with progressive myopia are still prescribed single-vision correction. An investigation into UK eyecare practitioners’ (ECPs) perceptions of myopia management was carried out to ascertain factors which may be limiting its implementation and uptake within clinical practice. Methods and analysisOnline focus groups were held with UK ECPs. Participants were encouraged to discuss their knowledge of the available myopia management options, their perception of how myopia management is being delivered in the UK and any barriers limiting ECPs' prescribing of these management options in practice. The discussions were transcribed and analysed thematically.ResultsFocus groups were held with 41 ECPs from primary and secondary eyecare. ECPs felt that provision of myopia management in the UK is variable. Most ECPs believe they have sufficient knowledge, but felt a lack of confidence in decision-making and practical experience. Less experienced ECPs sought more definitive guidance to support their decision-making. ECPs desired clarity on their duty of care obligations and were concerned over possible future litigation if they had not offered, or referred for, myopia management when indicated. The greatest barrier appears to be financial—treatment is expensive and ECPs are uncomfortable communicating this to parents. Many barriers were indicative of systemic problems within UK eyecare, such as commercial pressures, inadequate National Health Service funding and poor public awareness of paediatric eyecare.ConclusionMyopia management is not implemented consistently across the UK. To improve accessibility, changes are required at multiple levels, from individual ECPs through to wider stakeholders in UK eyecare provision.

Resumen
Abstract Body The COVID-19 pandemic has affected the lives and work of Early Career Psychiatrists (ECPs). Some had to revamp their professional life, start using telepsychiatry without prior training, change their workplace during the pandemic, or were quarantined. Others were not able to complete their training or take obligatory courses as planned. The aim of the study was to understand the impact of the pandemic on education and professional development, working conditions and wellbeing of ECPs, as well as their attitude to telepsychiatry. The anonymous, 24-question cross-sectional survey was conducted by the European Psychiatric Association Early Career Psychiatrists Committee (EPA ECPC) and the Task Force on Meetings and Associations with the collaboration and support of the European Federation of Psychiatric Trainees (EFPT). 517 participants from 39 different countries (member states of the Council of Europe) have been included in the analysis. Statistical analyses have been performed. Final results will be presented during the symposium. Identifying the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on ECPs will help us better prepare for similar events in the future, equip them with the necessary skills and provide them with the right support. Disclosure No significant relationships.

Resumen
The purpose of this study is to verify whether increasing the intensity of ICT utilization in environmental collaboration practices (ECPs) in the supply chain has a positive impact on firms’ financial performance (FP). As such, it answers the call for investigating the moderators of firms’ FP in their environmental supply chain management. The paper presents the results of a study conducted among 500 firms located in Poland with the use of the CATI technique. The research results show that increasing the intensity of ICT utilization in ECPs, in most cases, does not affect the firms’ FP. Statistically significant relations were observed only in green design ECPs, which shows that increasing the intensity of ICT utilization in green design ECPs reduces the likelihood of revenue growth thanks to ECPs implementation. The paper fills a research gap in the moderating role of the intensity of ICT utilization in increasing financial benefits thanks to the implementation of ECPs in the supply chain. As such, it contributes to the environmental supply chain management literature. The results highlight the need for further research on the moderators of firms’ financial benefits from ECPs implementation, which should be studies in isolation but also jointly, to verify their combined effect. Also, the character of different ECPs categories should be studied to link them with the most appropriate ICT.

Resumen
Early institution of extracorporeal perfusion support (ECPS) may improve survival after cardiac arrest. Two patients sustained unexpected cardiac arrest in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) following cardiac interventions. ECPS was initiated due to failure to restore hemodynamics after prolonged (over 60 minutes) advanced cardiac life support (ACLS) protocol-guided cardiopulmonary resuscitation. Despite relatively late institution of ECPS, both patients survived with preserved neurological function. This communication focuses on the utility of ECPS in the ICU as a part of resuscitative efforts.

Resumen
Although levonorgestrel-only emergency contraceptive pills (LNg-ECPs) have been available over the counter in Canada for more than a decade, barriers to access persist. We aimed to obtain information about the availability and cost of LNg-ECPs in New Brunswick. Using a mystery-client study design, we called all 207 non-specialty pharmacies in the province posing as a 17-year-old woman seeking something to prevent pregnancy after sex. We evaluated the information provided for accuracy and quality. The overwhelming majority of pharmacies (n = 180, 87%) had at least one brand of LNg-ECPs in stock; the price averaged CAD28.69 (USD21.65). Although the majority of pharmacy representatives provided accurate information about LNg-ECPs, a small number made incorrect statements about the timeframe for use, side effects, and mechanism of action. In nine interactions (4%) pharmacy representatives incorrectly indicated that a male partner could not obtain LNg-ECPs; none indicated that parental involvement was required to procure LNg-ECPs. None of the pharmacy representatives referenced any other modality of emergency contraception, including ulipristal acetate. Our findings suggest that LNg-ECPs are widely available and that most pharmacy representatives are providing accurate medical and regulatory information. However, supporting the continuing education of pharmacists and pharmacy staff, particularly around alternative modalities of emergency contraception, appears warranted.

Resumen
The scale of the electric cyber physical system (ECPS) is continuously extending, and the existing cascade failure models ignore both the information flow and power flow transferring characteristics and also lack effective survivability analysis. In this paper, the quantitative evaluation method for cascading failure of ECPS survivability considering optimal load allocation is proposed. Firstly, according to the system topological structure and correlation, the degree-betweenness weighted correlation matrix of ECPS is established by defining the degree function as well as the electric betweenness, and the formal representation of coupled ECPS network model is realized. Secondly, based on the structural connectivity change and risk propagation range of ECPS cascade failure, the survivability evaluation model is designed by taking into account the constraints such as node load capacity limitation, information flow optimal allocation strategy, power flow optimization equation, and system safety operation. Finally, the firefly algorithm with chaotic Lévy flight is proposed to solve the evaluation model efficiently. The case study vividly shows that the evaluation method can effectively quantify the survivability of ECPS and thus enhance the evaluation efficiency of large-scale coupled systems.

Resumen
The dietary effects of replacing fish meal with enzymatic cottonseed protein (ECP) on the growth performance, immunity, antioxidant, and intestinal health of Chinese soft-shelled turtles have not been explored. An eight-week feeding trial was conducted with a quadruplicated group of turtles ( 3.44 ± 0.01 g ) that were randomly assigned to 16 cages ( 0.6 m × 0.6 m × 0.6 m ) with 30 turtles that were stocked in each cage. Four dietary groups were fed with diets supplemented with 0, 2%, 4%, and 6% (ECP0 group (control group), ECP2 group, ECP4 group, ECP6 group) of enzymatic cottonseed protein replacing fishmeal. The present study illustrated that the final weight and WG in the ECP2 and ECP4 groups were significantly increased ( P < 0.05 ) compared with the control group. The ECP2, ECP4, and ECP6 groups significantly reduced the feed coefficient ( P < 0.05 ) and significantly increased the SGR ( P < 0.05 ). The serum TP and ALB of the ECP4 group were significantly increased ( P < 0.05 ). The ECP2, ECP4, and ECP6 groups significantly increased the activity of intestinal pepsin ( P < 0.05 ), and the activity of intestinal lipase of the EPC4 group was significantly increased ( P < 0.05 ). The intestinal villus height of the EPC4 group and EPC6 group, the villus width of the EPC2 group and EPC4 group, and the intestinal muscle thickness of the EPC4 group were significantly increased ( P < 0.05 ). At the same time, replacing fishmeal with enzymatic cottonseed protein also affected the intestinal inflammation-related genes compared with the control group. Besides that, the expression of the IL-10 gene in the experimental group was significantly upregulated ( P < 0.05 ). Nevertheless, the expression of TNF-α and IL-8 genes in the ECP2 group and TNF-α and IL-1β genes in the ECP4 group was significantly downregulated ( P < 0.05 ). In summary, replacing fish meal with enzymatic cottonseed protein positively affects the growth, immunity, and intestinal health of Chinese soft-shelled turtles. The appropriate proportion of enzymatic cottonseed protein to replace fish meal in turtle feed is 4%.

Resumen
University officials at many institutions of higher learning have initiated enrollment control programs (ECPs) in over-subscribed majors. Although the qualifying academic barriers determining program admission associated with these ECPs establish hardships for some students, the gewal intention of such programs is to prepare students for a particular curriculum as well as to select individuals deemed most qualified when limited enrollment opportunities exist. At universities where collegiate admission is a selection process, these ECPs fit into the framework of normal operation. At institutions (such as Youngstown State University) where “open admission” to the university is the policy, however, the establishment of ECPs has caused inadvertent conflicts for academic advisors.

The Internet of Everything (IoE) is gaining a growing interest in scientific and industrial communities to have expanded the Internet of Things (IoT) paradigm. In fact, several domains have been through a digital transformation evolution, for instance Industry 4.0, however, a lot still needs to be done regarding the educational domain especially at university. Instructional design is a major concern among the TEL (Technology Enhanced Learning) community. The covid-19 health crisis has dug deeper into several of its challenges. The objective of Industry 4.0 is to foster the integration of complex physical machinery and devices based on Cyber Physical Systems (CPS) and IoT. A set of sensors, actuators and software components are used to monitor, analyze, and control smart factories through control loops (MAPE). In this thesis, we investigate how these concepts could contribute in shaping and engineering the next revolution at university (University 4.0). To do so, we have conducted an exploratory approach in order to, first give a definition of what we call Educational Cyber Physical Systems (ECPS) to build it upon ideas from the literature. This concept is barely addressed in the TELE domain. We apply this concept and its utilization in different educational levels (Classroom, Course, Curriculum). Then, we propose a model-driven method (ModelECPS) to design these systems founded on a modeling process and three Domain Specific Languages (DSL). The modeling process is issued from the Object Management Group (OMG) standards that define the Y process based on three modeling pillars of the MDE method. The platform Independent Model (PIM) represents the educational meta-model, called EML4.0. The Platform Definition Model (PDM) is the connected environment meta-model, called CPSML, that extends the modeling “things” into modeling “everything”. Finally, the ECPSML defines the meta-model that describes the educational connected environment and thus the Platform Specific Model (PSM). Its design is based on concept alignment between both PDM and PIM models and is semi-automatically generated through applying ATL rules (Model-to-Model transformation). A utilization modeling process for the method is given in order to guide the different stakeholders in designing such systems (ECPS). To illustrate our proposal, we conducted a case study on a real-life ECPS classroom during the covid-19 health crisis. We describe the required models designed in this process and supervise students' progress during the practical sessions

Mytilus edulis is a bivalve mollusc representing an economic and ecotoxicological interest. This sentinel species is known for its resistance to chemical and biological contaminants. However, for few years, abnormal mortality events have been reported for farmed blue mussels in France where different Vibrio strains were isolated. The first section of this thesis describes cellular and physiological interactions of V. Splendidus isolates with the blue mussel. Experimental infections allowed the selection of two isolates affiliated to V. splendidus/V. hemicentroti type strains: a virulent 10/068 1T1 and an innocuous 12/056 M24T1. These two strains were GFP-tagged and validated for their growth characteristics and virulence as genuine models for exposure. V. splendidus 10/068 1T1 is capable to alter different functions of hemocytes including motility, adhesion, internalization, ROS production, phagosome maturation and viability, unlike the avirulent strain. Furthermore, bacterial extracellular products appeared toxic and inhibit cellular responses (internalization and ROS production). Finally, we successfully reproduced experimental infection by water tank cohabitation assays with septic animals. Infection monitoring shows the targeting of gills by bacteria. The second section explores the MXR (MultiXenobiotic Resistance) system functioning in the blue mussel. For the first time, a complete ABCG2 amino acid sequence was established. Molecular characterization shows the presence of the abcg2 transcript in hemocytes and gills and its homology with other proteins from various species. The combination of the fluorescent probes bodipy prazosin and pheophorbide A with specific blockers demonstrate the transporter efflux activity and its heterogeneity in tissues and cells. Moreover, the expression of three ABC transporters (abcb, abcc, abcg2) identified in the blue mussel has been shown to be modulated by chemical contaminants. Mussels exposed to BaP in the laboratory or collected from contaminated mussel beds in the field show upregulated abc transcripts in gills whereas these mRNA undergone a downregulation in hemocytes. Season had also an effect on mRNA levels and interacted with site effects. Only the abcb gene displayed a more abundant mRNA level in gills dissected from animals collected in the more polluted area all over the diachronic study. In conclusion, our results demonstrate the vulnerability of the blue mussel towards a pathogen. The immunotoxic impact of environmental xenobiotics and the precise role of ABC efflux pumps in the immune system of the mussel has yet to be explored

Resumen
Araneoid spiders use specialized sets of abdominal silk glands to produce up to seven different types of silks, each with diverse functional properties. At the time of these studies, fibroin eDNA sequences that encode egg case silk had not been reported in the literature. This study used conventional nucleic acid-nucleic acid screening of a eDNA library to isolate a novel gene, named tubuliform spidroin 1 , from the black widow spider Latrodectus hesperus. TuSp 1 was demonstrated to be selectively expressed in the tubuliform gland (the gland suspected for egg case silk production), and examination of the amino acid sequence revealed highly homogeneous repeats (184 amino acid ensemble repeats), a characteristic feature of fibroin sequences. Analyses of the ensemble repeats within the amino acid sequence of TuSp 1 revealed the lack of long stretches of polyalanine and glycine-alanine sub-repeats, which are commonly found in minor ampullate and major ampullate silks. Polyserine blocks and short polyalanine stretches were highly represented in the TuSp 1 amino acid sequence. Our data support the assertion that TuSp 1 represents the main constituent within egg case silk. This supposition is supported by the observation that the amino acid composition of raw egg case silk was strikingly similar to the amino acid composition predicted from the translated TuSp1 eDNA. Two additional constituents identified in black widow egg case, egg case protein 1 (ECP-1) and egg case protein 2 (ECP-2), were also partially characterized in this study. Using immunohistochemical approaches, we demonstrate that ECPs predominantly localize to the exterior of the large diameter fibers of egg cases. Additionally, these studies revealed smaller amounts of ECPs localized to the interior portion of the fibers. Collectively, these results support TuSp1 as the predominant fibroin within egg sacs as well as reveal a structural role for the ECPs, providing clues regarding the supramolecular structure of egg case fibers.

This study proposes to examine the book Echoes: the jewel of Pandora, of the goiana poet Yêda Schmaltz. To do so, she takes as its leitmotif the update, processed in the book, the myths of Echo and Narcissus. The reinvention of classical myths noticed in Echoes is exemplary of an applicant in the work of the author, which is, in the narratives of antiquity, one of the main centers of creation of her literature. In this case, the archetypal mythological women are treated in different and successive books in order to reveal the various stages of psychological growth of women. In Echoes, the character of the same name, unlike the original narrative, overcomes the rejection and beats the challenges of loving relationship. This overcoming causes in the I lyric the reach of the true love, which necessarily involves the development of self, the self-love, only to then distribute it to the others. Considering the development of this study, first of all, there will be a presentation of the author and her literature. Then, as this study includes the upgrade of classical myths in a modern poet, it will present some considerations on myth and on the relationship myth and poetry, seeking, as possible, establish a dialogue between these considerations and poems of the book covered. Finally, the procedure will be to rescue the narrative of Echo and Narcissus, as it appears in Ovid, the recovery of interpretations and theories about the narrative and also to examine, through the comment of paradigmatic poems, recovering the difference that Yêda Schmaltz stablishes about the myths of Echo and Narcissus

Abstract : This is not a conventional Thesis. It is a practice of self. Seized in the dialogue between History and Philosophy, it produces its own figures of language, for the work of thinking and reading sources typical of the office of the historian. A priori and a posteriori in permanent relation. This way, it is organized in two parts, namely: 1. Platôs or Essays, which both expose the toolbox of the course of thought, and privilege the taking of historical consciousness. 2. Historical Narrative, a space in which historical writing is evidenced through the use of sources (newspapers, images, diaries of parents, chronicles, poetry, etc.). It is organized in Acts and Scenes, which sought to circumscribe the cut of the sources from the problems under analysis. It is genealogy when it moves through aspects of knowledge-power-ethical relations. It is a work of art that recruits its figures of language in favor of reading the sources. As a basic question, the thesis seeks to understand elements of the so-called play factor in the constitution of moral ways of being in what was considered to be a practice of amusement. More specifically, an investigation was undertaken to reflect processes that produced sensibilities at the edge of the sea, but also immersed in it. Standing out among the practices of fun: the jogging and two types of picnic. From the conclusion of the historical point of view, in the Island of Santa Catarina, before the invention of the sea for bath, we have the invention of the PIC NIC.

The art produced with digital mean, known as digital art, involves complex questions related to the specificity of the digital media which question the ways of production, exhibition, distribution, aesthetic appreciation, authorship, that encloses the quarrels of copyright, industrial patent, free and commercial software. This study also tackles a variety of issues concerning digital production, from the poetical possibilities explored, to the quarrel of problems such as domain and access of digital language. The present research investigates artistic proposals that use digital environment, the relation between the poetical richness and the technological and technical knowledge, which depends on the access to digital means. Reflecting on the story of artists who explore the digital media, as well as texts of theoreticians and art critics, the adopted methodology was the bibliographical research and interviews with the artists: members of the SCIArts group, Tania Fraga and Malu Fragoso. The criteria for the selection of these artists was based as their contribution to the field of Brazilian digital art through exhibitions an participation in events which discuss art and technology. The study examines the poetical process of the digital production present in artworks, such, interactive installations and artistic proposals of the digital medias, as the Poetical Atrator , Gravity Fluxions: pulsations and the Tracajá Project . Were clearly articulated in speeches of the interviewed artists and in the importance of the quarrel on the technique and technology and about questions of the access and domain implied at the digital art research. The artists alert for the necessity of support to the creation of groups to research free software, for development of appropriate means of evaluations in brief that are not specific for research in digital ways, to the increase of public funding that would finance equipment and programs of high cost, and discussion on the property right of these equipment and programs. They also point out the precariousness of the critical and the exhibition spaces without the necessary structure to slow this kind of artworks in Brazil. The research Digital Echoes - poetical proposals considers that the poetical proposals in digital ways - low or high tech - creates a space of fertile artistic and critical exploration

The present paper investigates three types of electrically conductive polymers (ECPs), namely polyaniline, polypyrrole and poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene) PEDOT composite with multi-walled carbon nanotubes (CNTs) for supercapacitor applications. Their capacitive performance has been evaluated in both three electrodes half-cell and two electrodes cell setup. The nanocomposite were fabricated by polymerizing pseudocapacitive conductive polymer onto the MWCNT surface through the in-situ chemical polymerization approach. The composites were aimed to be optimized through varying the ECPs to MWCNT ratios. Half-cell electrochemical study was conducted to determine the optimal proportion of MWCNT and ECP in this parametric study. Two electrodes cell electrochemical study unveiled the potential device’s energy storage performance. MWCNT was found to act as the framework for the polymerization of the ECP into a tubular structure. Among the three composites, Ppy/MWCNT composite showed superior supercapacitor characteristics at scan rates of up to 500mV/s.

Resumen
The chance of unwanted pregnancies is higher for young people in the reproductive age. The Emergency Contraceptive Pill (ECP) is a hormonal form of birth control recommended for unprotected sexual activities when standard contraceptive methods are not utilized. As a result, it is crucial to research this topic since unsafe abortions in Sri Lanka result in increased maternal mortality rates. This study aims to assess the knowledge and attitudes toward emergency contraceptive pills of undergraduates at the Faculty of Humanities and Sciences at Sri Lanka Institute of Information Technology (SLIIT). A descriptive cross-sectional study was conducted among the first, second, and third-year undergraduates who followed their course in English at the Faculty of Humanities and Sciences, SLIIT. Study participants were chosen by a stratified random sampling method. Data was collected using self-administered questionnaires distributed via Microsoft forms. Data was presented using descriptive statistics by frequencies and percentages. The analysis included 84 participants, mostly third-year students (56%) and females (79.8%). Most of the students, (73.8%), agreed with the idea that ECP should be easily accessible. A higher number of students, (76.2%), mentioned that they would recommend ECP to a friend or a relative if needed, while (23.8%) mentioned that they would not recommend it. In conclusion, the knowledge of ECP among the participants was satisfactory, and the attitudes toward ECPs were positive. Keywords: Emergency contraceptive pills (ECP); Knowledge; Attitudes

Resumen
It is generally thought that the extracellular matrix (ECM) is thrombogenic. However, one of us (MRB) has reported that the ECM is thromboresistant, and postulated that this was due to the release of endothelial cell (EC) 13-hydroxyoctadecadienoic acid (13-HODE) into the ECM. To test this possibility, we measured platelet adhesion (PLT ADH) onto cultured ECs and their ECMs exposed by 3 methods. We also extracted the ECMs for HPLC analysis of 13-HODE.PLT ADH was expressed as i)adhesion of 3H-adenine labelled platelets/mm2 of ECs or ECMs under static conditions, and ii) % surface^ area coverage measured morphometrically following 5"perfusion with citrated whole blood at 1300 sec-1 in the flat chamber.ECMs were prepared by removing the EC monolayers by freeze thawing , cellulose acetate stripping or NH4OH treatment. PLT ADH to ECs under static and flow conditions were 4700±240/mm2 and 0.1%, respectively, and were associated with 12,6± 1 pg of 13-HODE/mm2 of EC surface (M+SEM). Removal of the ECs by freeze thawing or stripping, resulted in a 18% and 25% increase in PLT ADH to the ECM,under static and flow conditions respectively, and a 80% decrease in ECM associated 13-HODE level. Removal of the EC by NH4OH resulted in a 380% and 770% increase in PLT ADH to the ECM in static and flow conditions. 13-HODE was undetectable. These data support the hypothesis that 13-HODE released from ECs influences the ECM thrombogenecity, and indicate that the residual amounts of components present in the ECMs following EC removal is influenced by the method of ECM preparation.

Resumen
Tumor cell (TC) vessel wall adhesion is thougth to occur at specific sites of exposed extracellular matrix (ECM).To determine the role of fibronectin (FN) in TC/ECM adhesion,we measured; 1)TC adhesion to intact cultured endothelial cell monolayers (EC) or their ECMs,with or without incubation with a polyclonal antibody (Ab) to human FN, or a monoclonal antibody (Mab) to the cell binding site of FN (3E3);2)TC adhesion to EC or their exposed ECMs incubated with specific peptides against bacteria adhesion sites (I 133-79) or the peptide GRGDSP contained in the cell binding sites of several adhesive proteins.TC adhesion was measured as number of 111In-labeled A-549 adenocarcinoma cellsxlO /disc. ECMs were exposed by removing the ECs with N2 flow or EGTA treatment. There was 5.5±1x10 A-549/ EC covered disc (Table). Treatment of ECs with the Abs or peptides had no effect on TC adhesion.TC adhesion to the two ECM preparation were 42 ± 12 and 55±10 respectively.(Table).Blockage of the FN adhesive site by either Ab inhibited TC adhesion (p < 0.01). In contrast, blockage of the bacteria-adhesion site or incubation with GRGDSP had not significant effects in TC adhesion. The table shows the results (mearv±SEM (* p < 0.01).We conclude that TC adhesion to ECM but not to ECs,is dependent upon FN.

Resumen
This report provides an overview of the second regional panel organized by the ECPS titled “Crisis of Democratic Political Legitimacy and Emerging Populism in Africa,” which took place online on May 9, 2024. Moderated skillfully by Dr. Chipo Dendere, the panel included experts from Southern Africa, Central Africa, and beyond. They offered a comprehensive examination of the largely overlooked phenomenon of populism in Africa. Through their insightful presentations, the panelists analyzed the various forms and behaviors of populism on the continent, tracing its historical role as a galvanizer during anti-colonial struggles for self-determination to its current impacts on social and political affairs. A common theme emerged: as both Africa and the globe witness a decline in democratic integrity despite the rise in populist movements, it is crucial to understand the complex roles populism plays—both beneficial and detrimental—in shaping local political landscapes.
