Texto completoProperty has always occupied a place in the life of societies. Distribution (especially land, their use, acquisition) transmitted reflect deep design that makes it a society. Thus, through this work we found that the accession of the Republic of Haïti in 1804 and until 1986 (departure of president Jean-Claude DUVALIER), the country was crossed by two concepts of land ownership. The first one can be described as military crony is inherited from Toussaint LOUVERTURE, and extends from 1804 to 1843. The second can be described in the myth of the land all of 1843 to 1986. However, it was found that from 1804 to 1986 small farmes have always fougth for the right to peaceful enjoyment of the plot of land the farm. This was not always easy because the relatives of different gouvernments have had a vision different ownership and exploitation of land. The opposition of these two wiews has often been the source of conflict, and armed uprisings identificate this country. More, this struggle between different social groupes plunged the country into a chronic instabilité (sic) and insecurité (sic) is created, unemployment and poverty

This study presents an analysis of pedagogical, curricular and content knowledge that teachers of mathematics in basic education, in Ponta Grossa/PR have on Trigonometry. Empirical data was obtained with the use of a tool containing different kinds of errors made by students in Trigonometry exercises to be analyzed and point out possible intervention by the teachers as well as to present responses to Trigonometry concepts. This data was analyzed based on Shulman’s (1986,2001) theoretical contributions and on the functions and discursive operations according to the Register of Semiotic Representation theory by Raymond Duval (2004, 2009, 2011). The research question was: How is knowledge about Trigonometry characterized and what is the nature of the knowledge related to learning issues and Trigonometry teaching presented by mathematics teachers who work in basic education? And the objectives of the study were: to characterize the knowledge of Trigonometry of mathematics teachers working in basic education and; to reveal the nature of mathematics teachers’ knowledge in relation to Trigonometry learning and teaching issues. The research had a qualitative approach, with descriptive and elucidative characteristics, and the analysis methodological procedures were assisted by Bardin’s (2009) content analysis. The organization of data was carried out with the aid of the software Atlas.ti, through which the subject content knowledge, the pedagogical knowledge of content, and the curricular knowledge were gathered within the discourse expansion function proposed by Duval (2004) for later analysis. The results of this study indicate that teachers’ knowledge that was more evident was the knowledge of the subject content. These results point to the need for teachers to be more attentive to other aspects of knowledge also necessary to their education practice and which seem to have been disregarded.

The dissertation presents an analysis of teacher s textbooks, adopted in public schools in a city in Minas Gerais, focusing on the elaboration of the concept of multiplication from the 1st to 5th year of elementary school. The qualitative analysis about 16 multiplication activities, the most part divided in about four tasks, was developed by the match between the National Curriculum Parameters - PCNs, adopted as guidelines by the investigated textbooks and the Theory of Raymond Duval. As a result, we obtained that most of the initial activities involves conversion. Among the other tasks of the activity involves at least one treatment. We also found an activity involving only treatment, and only three activities without tasks involving treatment. Still, we had a proposal in the guidelines to the teacher, promoting conversion in both directions for proper coordination of semiotic representation registers. Most used registers are mixed, involving the numerical record with natural language

This thesis aimed to investigate how blind students visualize geometric objects, based on the Theory of Semiotics Representation, Vision and View Registers of Raymond Duval. Checking the official documents that determine the course of education, we found that they establish that children and young people with special educational needs must have access to schools, preferably in the regular school system, which must be suitable to them, both materially and educationally. So, we performed a case study in a public school in the city of Santo André, São Paulo, which has blind students attending ordinary classrooms. Through interviews, we investigated how congenitally blind students recognize and work with representations of geometric objects and what are the possibilities of these students create their own representations on paper. We found that the interviewed students identified flat geometric figures embossed on paper, recognizing their forms, but didn t recognize the geometric solids representations in perspective, because the outline of these objects does not match with their outline on paper. We note the need to teach how to visualize, it is necessary that the blind students learn how to identify the represented object in each representation, this recognition is not automatic but it can be learned. We noted that the order of perception by touching is different when the blind student has a concrete object in his hands and when it has a representation of this object embossed on paper. When the blind student has a concrete object in his hands, and this object is familiar to him, he recognizes the entire object without the need to observe the parts, but when the representation is embossed on paper, even if the student knows the represented object, he visualizes the parts first and then the entire object. In the interviews, we witnessed times when the students reached the perceptual, operative and discursive apprehensions, despite having a very limited repertoire of geometric terms. One of the students operated the dimensional deconstruction of the forms and could "see" mathematically, as mentioned by Duval (2011). None of the students we interviewed had ever built or designed geometric figures in a way that after they could recognize them, so the sequential apprehension that aims at the construction of geometric figures was not observed during our investigation. Seeking to fill this gap, we propose the creation of the Drawing on Positive Relief Clipboard, with which a blind student has the possibility to design and feel the design embossed on paper

Power transformers are essential equipment in eletric systems. Considered as highly expensive equipment it requires greater attention regarding the occurrence of failures. A failure on equipment can cause serious trouble to the concessionaire responsible for the generation, transmission and distribution of energy. In the present scenario, where legislation has increased the severity with which oversees these failures and demanding a higher efficiency of the same, it is necessary to create appropriate policies to investigas possible equipment failure. These failures can be caused by several factors, among them, the gases dissolved in the oil due to its degeneration. One of the most used techniques for the diagnosis of power transformers from these dissolved gases is the Duval Triangle, a method that has a precision and considerably high reliability. However, for proper planning of maintenance, avoiding a possible sudden withdrawal and supply cut, it is necessary to provide further information, including a quantitative analysis of the causes of failure and a history of the evolution of the operating status of the machine. To this end it is proposed to use a fuzzy logic by the method of Duval to provide an analysis of the transitions between the diagnostic originally presented to enable monitor the level of relevance of each possible cause for the diagnosis equipment allowing perform scheduled and preventive maintenance. The proposed methodology was validated using real data equipment in operation in the brazilian electric system.

Texto completoThe parisian architecture office of Charles Duval (1873-1937) and Emmanuel Gonse (1880-1954), founded in 1905 by these two old boys of Pascal 's studio at the Ecole des Beaux, knew a bipartite destiny owing to the upsets engendered by the First World War. Before 1914, in accordance with many Parisian agencies, Duval and Gonse establish their patnership propsperity upon exclusively private plans born from an order about which the family or nearly family origin is a strong majority part. After 1918, the two architects, fellows of an architecture civil company, named La Cité Nouvelle, what they have themselves conduced to found, and leaning on an efficient system of local collaborators, are henceforth devoting themselves, with predominant way, to the reconstruction of devastated counties, mainly Somme country. Then they are chosen for rebuilding, on reconstruction cooperatives behalf, communal buildings in about fifteen villages of Roye's country, in adition to this small town, and the rehabilitation of many private, agricultural and industrial, buildings in the same region. They are leading otherwise, a notable part of their designing to the achievement of maternal and infantile hygiene dispensaries, deliberated by a private foundation created by Suzanne Gonse-Boas, Emmanuel Gonse's wife. This specialization attribute to Duval and Gonse, in 1928, the order of their major work, the puericulture School of Paris Medecine Faculty, which is also composing the consecration of their association. Settling the modes of change that have turned an agency originally dedicated to the Parisian property marketing in one of the most fruitful and effective offices invested on the first rehabilitation ground, seemed essential, all like the adaptation of the associates, both at an unusual diversity of designs and at the complexity of regular procedures imposing administrative exactness and working swiftness. In parallel, orders system analysis was allowing to emphasize the strong familial obedience of this agency, which the sanitary and hospital creation is the most spectacular display

This dissertation presents an analysis of the geometry content of Mathematics textbooks. The research objectives were: to explain the specifics of Raymond Duval's semiotic representation theory, with respect to geometry, and to reveal to what extent these specifics are covered in the analyzed textbooks. The central research question we seek to answer is: to what extent does the organization of the geometry content of textbooks consider aspects of Raymond Duval's semiotic representation theory? As a theoretical basis, we use Raymond Duval’s works (2003, 2004). The research involved the analysis of textbooks published between 2002 and 2009, and the data collection and data analysis were supported by Bardin’s content analysis (2010). The research results indicate that the geometry discussed in textbooks has gaps in relation to aspects of Duval’s theory. These gaps relate to possibilities for the development of proposals for education. These are: the interaction between figural and discursive treatments; the linkage between figural register and discourse to minimize the phenomenon of non-congruent semantics (made possible by setting guidelines for submission, problem solving and the demonstration of theorems); mereological or visual modifications responsible for the operative capture of figures, and finally, the resolution of exercises which require organization to enable a systematic variation of visibility factors to facilitate the non-use of definitions or theorems.

Geometry consists of an area of mathematics which is rich in possibilities of cognitive development, but not always valued from this point of view. Raymond Duval's Theory of Registers of Semiotic Representations (2004, 2005, 2012, 2012a, 2012b, 2013, 2015) provides a description of cognitive activities related to the development of geometric thinking, serving as a support for possibilities of improving teaching and learning processes. An articulation of the geometry with a dynamic environment directs the present study in the search for the answer to the following question: In what way is it possible to stimulate the development of cognitive activities according to Raymond Duval using the GeoGebra dynamic environment in geometry activities? From this questioning, the objective of this research is to point out contributions referring to the use of this dynamic environment for the work with Geometry with respect to the stimulus of the visualization of characteristics involving geometric figures indicating which specific cognitive activities of the Theory of Semiotic Representation Registers of Raymond Duval were present. This study was carried out with 30 students from the eighth grade of elementary school of a public school in the state of Paraná, in which the subjects' digital and written productions were analyzed during the application of a workshop, whose theme was geometry, with activities involving polygons and polyhedra through the use of GeoGebra. As a result, it was possible to infer that the dynamism provided by the GeoGebra dynamic environment was a facilitator for the identification of characteristics of certain mathematical objects. The choice of contents involving regular and non-regular polyhedra and Euler's Relation, as well as the resumption of concepts of regular and non-regular polygons, provided a stimulus for dimensional deconstruction. The presence of the apprehensions was identified and the iconic views more evident. Through GeoGebra, the explorations of the geometric figures are efficient and favor the establishment of conjectures, consequently, the seizures, views and dimensional deconstruction are required.

Texto completoOur thesis deals with this issue related to written Press and political power during the 1956 - 1958 events that occurred in Haiti. This period, originating from President Magloire resignation in 1956 to François Duvalier's mandate conslodation in April 1958 is marked by strong political tensions. That begins with the struggles launched by President Magloire's supporters and opponents at the end of his presidential mandate. A period of instability followed Magloire departure with the succession of five governments in ten months. Besides, those two years are relevant to Haitian journalism , in a country where written Press finds its particularity from oldness and great frality. The consolidation of François Duvalier's regime goes with an offensive against written Press that reaches its climax at the end of April 1958, with the closing of Haiti-Miroir, the last journal of opposition. However, in this difficult situation, journals, by interfering with political struggles during this period, from 1956 to 1958, experienced an important downturn. They ceased to be the place of a single gouvernemental thought to reflect the plurality of coexisting trends of thoughts. Moreover, those journals were also used as a fouth power that tended to cling to actuality and gear the events, in a period stressed by confusion

Texto completoAt the Salon of 1847, Théophile Gautier is enthusiast about the work of art of a young artist, The Cock Fight by Jean-Léon Gérôme, a pupil of Delaroche and Gleyre. This piece of art, an "Antique" genre scene, is a work of elegance, grace and freshness, very different from the cold and formal painting of the Davidian tradition's followers. This artwork is also the starting point of the on coming fame of a small group of painters called "The neo-Greeks" - Jean-Louis Hamon, Henri-Pierre Picou, Gustave-Rodolphe Boulanger, Felix Jobbé-Duval, Auguste Toulmouche, Isambert and Alphonse Louis-Frédéric Schützenberger - all born around 1825. From 1846 to 1863, as students of Paul Delaroche and Charles Gleyre, they all set themselves in a community of artists at the Chalet and the Boite à Thé which one calls a “phalanstère ».From 1848 until the 1860s, all along the Salons, most critics write about the artistic evolutions of these people. The many articles written about the neo-Greeks’works at that time reveales the growing influence of art-critics in the making of artistic schools and the evolution of artists's careers. Their aesthetic will provoke an argument about the renewal of antique theme painting as they introduce the concepts of local color and picturesque, coming from Romanticism, which will become the characteristics of the historical genre as a slight and sensitive declination of the ancient painting of history. The first neo-Greek paintings will gain the support of critics, eager about the latest developments of the French scene. They see in this new stream a way to counteract Realism by giving the public an easy access to art and moralizing the codes of the genre scene by using a formal and graceful classicism with Antique themes. However, though a classical form, their deliberately anti-academic painting soon make the critics wonder about the artistic goals of these artists. In addition to the original group, the critics will soon associate other artists, from very different backgrounds who temporarily adopt the Neo Greek aesthetics's codes, blurring even more the differences between the painting of history and the historical genre. This will also confirm the new ideological conception of Antique model in art, that the painters from the following generation of the 1870’s will claim themselves

Texto completoPower transformers are the most critical components of an Electric Power System (E.P.S.) as far as their cost, usefulness and level of risk are concerned. Therefore their maintenance as well as their health and ability to stay in service check are of great importance. This thesis deals with the diagnostics of large oil immersed transformers. Consequently it is considered necessary to begin with a detailed description of power transformers and their attributes. In Chapter 1 a short introduction of E.P.S. is taking place in order to clarify the role of power transformers in them. In Chapter 2 the principles of operation, the manufacturing elements as well as the malfunctions that occur in a transformer because of their use or in the course of time are described in detail . Chapter 3 deals with the operation condition, life-span and the dependency of a transformer on the insulation system condition. In Chapter 4 all the common used techniques for condition monitoring and fault diagnosis of a transformer are displayed. Furthermore the order of the transformers depending on their ability to maintain in operative condition is described as well as the incorporation of their monitoring in the system inspection. Chapter 5 is focused on the Duval method which is a chemical method for fault diagnosis and more specifically a dissolved gas analysis. In this chapter the Duval method is described in detail along with the description of the program that uses this method. The adjuncts clarify some details regarding the Duval method which are necessary for the comprehension of the program.

Mental health is increasingly important in today's society, due to high morbidity which affects in people's lives. However, the influence to mental health that each type of family carries has not yet been established. Therefore, the aim of this study is to characterize this relationship. There were 180 families studied in the central region of Portugal, using Family Reports prepared by students of the 6th Medical Year of the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Coimbra in 2011/2012 and filed in Sala Professor Armando Porto in the Norton de Matos Health Center. For characterization of the families, there were studied all the different types of families and the phase of the Duvall Life Cycle in which they were included. It was also recorded the result of the application of different evaluation methods such as the Smilkstein APGAR family (functionality), the adapted Graffar scale (socioeconomic status) and also Segovia-Dreyer scale and Imperatori scale (familial risk). Finally, the different mental disorders present in each household were characterized and later related to the different variables above, using the “cross-tabs” analysis. Of the 180 households, most of them had one or more members with mental illness (57.8%), depressive disorder and anxiety disorder being the most frequent pathologies (41.1% and 14.4%, respectively). The most common type of family is the nuclear family within overall structure and dynamics (54.9%), the traditional family within marital relationship (56.7%) and the balanced family within the parental relationship (84%). In these types of family, considered to be stable, the prevalence of mental illness was 55.7%, 59.2% and 57.9% respectively. As for Duvall Life Cycle, the most frequent phases were VIII (33%) and VI (24%). The first was associated with a lower prevalence of mental illness (42.4%), while the latter was associated with a high prevalence (68%). According to the application of the familial APGAR, most families are "highly functional" (86.9%). Within this classification, the prevalence of mental illness amounts to 54.6%. According to the adapted Graffar scale, most of the families studied correspond to "Middle Class" (55%), where the prevalence of mental illness reaches 61.4%. Finally, according to the scales of Segovia-Dreyer and Imperatori most families studied are considered to be low risk (85.9% and 74.3%, respectively). The prevalence of mental illness in these families is 52.9% and 52.7% respectively. In both scales the classification of "high risk" has a 100% prevalence of mental illness It was demonstrated in this study that the family types considered to be stable are not necessarily those with lower prevalence of mental illness. However, the types of classically unstable families are indeed associated with a higher prevalence of mental illness. As for the Duvall Life Cycle, the phases associated with mental illness are phases in which adapting to new roles within the family (family with young children and families of middle age) or society (families with school-aged children) occurs. The socioeconomic status of each family showed no consistent relationship with the prevalence of mental illness. The remaining family assessment methods (familial APGAR, Segovia-Dreyer scale and Imperatori scale), demonstrated that the ratings “moderate-high” risk / dysfunction are associated with a high prevalence of mental illness. This study shows the need for more information in this area, since it was clear that each family characteristics play an important role in the prevalence of mental illness
