Resumen
The valence of any visual paradigm and its accompanying technologies is subject to the contingencies of political regimes and cultural shifts. The instigation, implementation and even reconfiguring of any associated technological system effects a translation and adjustment to the structure and use of these supporting mechanisms that both re-defines the relationship between object and viewer and ultimately influences its translation into material form. The permeation of digital systems throughout contemporary urban space is typified by Internet Protocol webcam systems, instigated by civic authorities for surveillance and the imagistic promotion of iconic city form. This paper examines how this system’s reception and subsequent translation of transmitted data signals into digital information not only presents new material to mediate people’s engagement with public space, but moreover, how it presents new opportunities for the designer to materialize its three-dimensional form within the spatial ambiguity of virtual and real-time environments.

Resumen
Message encryption in digital images using the Zhang LSB Image method is a steganography technique that utilizes the Least Significant Bit (LSB) method to hide secret messages in the last bit of the image pixel. This method allows the use of images as a medium to convey hidden messages. The encryption process involves two main stages, namely message encryption and message hiding in an image. Message encryption is carried out using strong cryptographic algorithms to secure the authenticity and confidentiality of messages. Then, the encrypted message is inserted into the last bit of the image pixel using the LSB method. This is done by modifying the last bit value of the pixel so that the change is not visually visible to the human eye. To recover the original message, the message recovery process involves extracting the last bit of the modified image pixel and decrypting the message using the appropriate key. The Zhang LSB Image method is a steganography technique that is relatively simple but effective in hiding messages in digital images.

Resumen
This article is a theoretical and ethnographic investigation of the role of marketing and branding within the contemporary ISKCON movement in the United States. In it, I examine the digital marketing enterprises of two prominent ISKCON temples: ISKCON of New Jersey and ISKCON of D.C. I argue that by attending to the vastly different ways in which these temples present and portray ISKCON online—including the markedly different media imagery by which they aim to draw the attention of the public—we can learn about an ideological divide concerning marketing within American ISKCON. This divide, I argue, highlights different ideas regarding how potential newcomers become attracted to ISKCON. It also illuminates an unexplored facet of the heterogeneity of American ISKCON, principally in terms of the movement’s public face.

Resumen
Last months issue of this publication contained the second article article in this series on digital imaging far TEM - and listed factors that may be stimulating the recent interest in digilal imaging for TEM. Most of the factors are concerned with issues of functionality. A digital imaging system can enhance TEM operation, image storage, image processing and communication. Significantly, the surge in interest was not linked to claims that digital images have better detail than images captured using sheet film. This is a pivotal issue for some microscopists. Nevertheless, my experience has been that many rnicroscopists, even skeptical microscopists, are surprised at the quality of output from a modern digital imaging system when using a high quality output device to produce hard copy images.

Resumen
Abstract Using a digital camera on the roof of the Royal Observatory, Edinburgh, images are continuously captured of the sky on a nightly basis to image satellites which pass overhead. Such satellites are seen in images as short lines since satellites move much quicker in the sky than stars, and up to 100 satellites can be imaged in one night. Using these images, software was developed (GitHub repository for code & documentation: https://github.com/Jack6228/STM_Final, or DOI: https://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.7304283.) to use known catalogs of artificial objects which orbit the Earth to determine which satellites can be seen in each image. This was achieved by comparing the expected positions of satellites in the catalog to those observed by the camera to identify matches. Overall, the project was a success and satellites are able to be identified approximately 85% of the time, which could help track space debris in a cheaper manner in a world where space is becoming increasingly more polluted.

Resumen
The detectability of fibrils in mammographic phantom images by morphological enhancement was analysed in the present study. Materials that mimic fibrils were imaged by a digital mammography machine at 28 and 29 kVP. The images were processed by a dilation technique to produce second set of images. Receiver operating characteristic analysis was performed to compare the detection performance from the two sets of images. As compared to original images, the 28 kVP’s fibrils images from dilation technique become more prominence to be detected by observers. While at 29 kVP only a few observers can found the fibrils images from dilation technique. This study suggests morphological enhancement of mammography image did not increase the detection of low frequency signals of the images.

Resumen
We live in a world where digital images are constantly generated during our daily activities, whether private or business. They play an important role in our private life, showing important moments, people, places, or events and keeping their memory. Images are unavoidable in business, especially in digital marketing, web sales, social networks, medicine, security, and education. In general, images contribute to a better understanding of the message, increase the attractiveness of textual content, provide a better user experience, and can convey emotion quickly. The key advantage of the image is that very often, even a cursory glance at the image is enough to convey a message and arouse emotion and interest. But with the increase in digital image numbers, storage, organization, and retrieval problems arise. The paper describes the importance of images in different areas of application and different image retrieval paradigms that include text-based, content-based, and combined approaches. Also, the most popular image search tools and cloud storage services are compared and discussed. The conclusion comments on the applicability of existing approaches to image searches in different application domains and highlights the advantages and disadvantages of each of the approaches.

Resumen
Conventional mammography has been used for decades for breast cancer screening. Its limitations are well known and are partly related to the fact that with conventional imaging, the three-dimensional volume of the breast is imaged and presented in a two-dimensional format, which leads to low sensitivity in detecting some cancers and high false-positive recall rates. Digital breast tomosynthesis consists in the acquisition of several low dose images from slightly different angles which are then sent to a computer that uses the data to generate 3-D images, providing breast images which are virtually free from superimposition. This is in particular important in cases of high mammographic density to differentiate real masses and architectural distortions from the overlying parenchyma. Digital breast tomosynthesis has shown decreased false-positive callback rates and increased rates of cancer detection, resulting in increased sensitivity and specificity, without a significant increase in the radiation dose.

Resumen
In this paper, we initially consider representation of 2D black–white images and 3D objects using finite state automata. We describe transformation of scaling on the 2D image by an operation on the FSA. We also give constructions for getting the projections of a 3D object on to coordinate planes and for reconstructing the 3D object from its projections. We define minimization of nondeterministic FSAs and give an O(e2) (e is the number of edges in the FSA) algorithm for minimization of NFAs. Later, we define a WFA and describe various properties of WFA. We define four normal forms of WFA and show how a WFA can be normalized into any of these forms. We show the equivalence of WFAs with ∊ edges and ∊-free WFAs. Then, we define minimization of WFAs and present an algorithm to minimize a WFA.

Resumen
The paper presents an analysis of sources of errors when estimating derivatives of numerical or noisy functions. A method of minimizing the errors is suggested. When being applied to the estimation of the curvature of digital curves, the analysis shows that under the conditions typical for digital image processing the curvature can rarely be estimated with a precision higher than 50%. Ways of overcoming the difficulties are discussed and a new method for estimating the curvature is suggested and investigated as to its precision. The method is based on specifying boundaries of regions in gray value images with subpixel precision. The method has an essentially higher precision than the known methods.
