Resumen
Global e-businesses such as Google, Amazon and E-bay affect both users and society. How can society begin to understand this duality in the socio-technical affordances of e-business? This paper examines a digital art performance as an example of the tensions between capitalist businesses and the public commons. Using notions of transparency and knowledge as a form of Knowledge Management rooted in Nonaka’s SECI Model, it examines ways in which knowledge about how Google uses the Internet are made explicit through the digital art performance. It discusses the implications for both defining a macro level of socio-technical design and using dimensions of transparency to understand technology based Internet business, positing global Internet business as having two levels of socio-technical design—1) the micro level, dealing with user interaction, and 2) the macro level, dealing with the social design and implications for society inherent in pervasive technology based businesses. The Macro level of design is operationalized through a combination of knowledge management theory and dimensions of transparency.

Resumen
MSMEs (Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises) have an essential role in helping the country in the economic sector. While there are several major problems faced by MSMEs, including manual financial records, no product standardization, and limited marketing scope. The solution to these problems is to align between MSME business goals and IT solutions that will be used. TOGAF (The Open Group Architecture Framework) is one of the best practices in making enterprise architecture that includes the design, planning, implementation and governance of IT-business that can be adjusted to the needs or problems in MSMEs. The case study of the application of TOGAF in this study used three food MSME objects, namely Kylafood, Maicih Chips and Bogares Beans with interview and observation methods. The enterprise architecture design for the MSME food category proposes that there are six main applications both utilizing existing applications and developing new applications, namely Microsoft Excel, e-marketplace, social media, the official MSME website, MSME operational management applications and accounting applications. The hardware that can support the application design are servers, routers, switches and PC / Mobile. With the support of IT systems and tools that are in line with business objectives, it is expected to be able to improve operational efficiency, reduce costs for marketing and increase profits for MSMEs

Resumen
If the purpose of a commercial negotiation is composition of business-to-business e-commerce processes (e-business processes), do any unique decision-support demands arise when using an electronic negotiation (e-negotiation) system? What is the answer when human-driven e-business process negotiation (eBPN), specifically, becomes a necessity? Workflow research already specifies certain tools that allow collaborative design of workflow models by multiple parties. But this paper goes beyond this to describe how peculiar decision-support demands also arise for the negotiation of the other, more "general", terms of such an eBPN contract. It also shows how existing e-negotiation tools lack holistic support for the interplay between "workflow-specific" and "general" strategy. Given this critical gap, this paper presents the "general" strategy-support (GSS) segment of our wider project: "Soft E-business Process Negotiation Approach" (SEPNA). Novel use of multi-criteria decision-making methods in the workflow composition domain and holistic support of the general strategy-support requirements combine as two of its key distinctions vis-à-vis alternative approaches. It specifies re-usable design prescriptions to address this gap, formalized primarily as an object model. Technical feasibility and contribution significance are shown by executing a set of previously unsupported eBPN scenarios on a prototype implementation of these prescriptions.

Resumen
Purpose – The purpose of this paper is to evaluate e-business driven organisational transformation and its resource implications for a European automotive multinational corporation. The application of Business Process Change Model (BPCM) was used to investigate throughout the five developmental stages of transformation and the associated resource implications in business-to-business (B2B) and extranet applications. Design/methodology/approach – Based on a case study design, B2B and extranet applications were selected. A triangulated research approach was used to capture the resource implications upon transformation, incorporating a participant observation and interviews. Findings – The findings indicate that the resource implications change in a transformation process based on individual e-business applications as well as the developmental stages of BPCM. Throughout the transformation only resource investment remained present in both applications. The change in resource implications and iterations between the BPCM stages in the case of “process redefinition”, “continuous improvement” underline why organisational transformation in similar settings could indicate variances in organisations’ transformation results. Research limitations/implications – The paper offers an insight into the resource implications in an e-business enabled transformation and underpins the importance of using developmental stages to bridge the divide between planning and application. The resource impact has been evaluated within the automotive sector using BPCM, future empirical research is needed to test the BPCM in other industrial e-business enabled transformation settings. Practical implications – Organisations should take a developmental approach to transformation that assesses resources implications. This also raises the need for using models such as the BPCM to fine-tune the transformation effort, through the inclusion of a more interactive iteration between BPCM stages. Originality/value – In this paper, the authors present an analysis of an e-business related, organisational transformation project, including an assessment of its ultimate effectiveness. This is the first case study, which focuses on resource implications solely and utilises the BPCM framework to understand the evolution of transformation effort and its resource implications.

Resumen
Given the modern trend toward the Internet, firms can now use web sites to achieve marketing and advertising effectiveness for their businesses. This usage creates a new model of marketing strategy. Experts in the field have indicated that links between marketing and competitive strategies are critical to organisational performance and business success. However, empirical studies conducted in various countries have shown that the web designs are misaligned with organizational strategic objectives. In this study, the authors view web sites as marketing applications, and investigate how corporate sites effectively support three types of business strategy: the prospector, analyser, and defender strategies. The authors conducted a series of in-depth interviews with web site designers and established design techniques through grounded theory approach to indicate how particular web sites support a specific type of business strategy. They also established the relationship between web design strategies and business strategies, which should help practitioners improve the strategic positioning of their web sites.

This paper describes the design of secure connectors that are used in the design of secure software architectures for distributed business applications. Mixing security concerns with business concerns in software architectures makes applications more complex. With the goal of making secure software architectures more maintainable and evolvable, the secure connectors proposed in this paper are designed separately from business application components by considering different communication patterns between the components as well as security services required by application components. Each secure connector encapsulates security relevant objects to provide application components with security services. In this paper, secure connectors are applied to design the software architectures of electronic commerce and automated teller machine applications.

Resumen
Purpose – The paper of this paper is to explore the usage patterns of e-journals in French business schools. Design/methodology/approach – The paper exploits COUNTER-compliant usage statistics from a nationwide usage study with data from journal collections of an international academic publisher. Findings – With regard to online collections, the usage appears to be relatively intensive, especially when compared to usage statistics from universities in the same fields. This result may reflect an emerging research activity in business schools and a projected and required international orientation. However, the study also reveals important differences between schools, a fact that should not be overestimated because of the small sample size, even if the sample is a representative of French business schools. Research limitations/implications – The paper uses empirical data from a national usage study to identify specific patterns in business schools. It does not integrate qualitative survey data or deep log file analysis. Originality/value – Very few studies provide empirical evidence of e-journal usage in business schools. The paper enhances the knowledge on usage in specific environments in higher education. This is the first usage study with French business schools.

Resumen
Decentralization gives authority to agencies / institutions / organizations in each province to plan the creation and development of applications tailored to their needs. Data related to the development is stored in each application of the organization which is periodically reported to the respective leader of government. The development data is very necessary for decision making in the next period development planning. Transparency and accountability are the absolute requirements for reporting development data, for that it is necessary to increase the speed and accuracy of data collection, so that progress in regional development can be monitored continuously and decision making can be carried out more quickly. Therefore, it is necessary to integrate applications from all applications found in agencies / institutions / organizations in each province. Application integration may use various technology such as : SOAP, REST, SSO, etc. This research is aimed at studying alternative E-Gov application integration architecture that could be implemented in several government agencies / institutions / organizations. Qualitative methods are used in this study, namely by studying some related literatures to obtain alternative architectures and then create new architecture and design. With the existence of an alternative integration architectures, it is expected to facilitate the design of application integration in more detail.

Resumen
Purpose Despite the important role of distrust in predicting the intention to use, existing literature has not studied the impact of distrust on the buyer’s integration with suppliers and their e-procurement usage in the B2B context, creating major gaps in the e-procurement theory. The purpose of this paper is to fill the gaps in the literature by examining the role and impact of distrust in the e-procurement context. Design/methodology/approach Data were collected through a web-based survey of purchasing professionals in the USA. ANOVA was used to compare the level of distrust among companies. In addition, the measurement model and hypotheses were tested using the structural equation modeling method. Findings Empirical findings indicate if buyers have uncertainty or negative expectation on the reliability and capability of the supplier in e-procurement systems, they would tend to hesitate to use e-procurement for purchasing. Furthermore, distrust also inhibits buyers from strengthening the supplier integration through sharing operational and logistics information and collaborating in new product development and purchasing process. Research limitations/implications This paper discovers the vital role of distrust in the e-procurement context. Distrust has a significant impact on a company’s cooperation and commitment with business partners. Additionally, to improve the supplier integration, it is important not only to use e-procurement applications but also to have a mechanism to lower the buyers’ distrust level in e-procurement systems. Practical implications Realizing the important role of distrust, e-procurement vendors could improve the supplier selection process by allowing buyers to review the supplier’s reliability and capability, and to interact with the supplier before making any online purchase. Vendors could also build a better supplier verification system and collaborative mechanism to reduce buyers’ distrust issues. Originality/value Despite the important role of distrust in predicting the intention to use, existing literature has not studied the impact of distrust on the buyer’s integration with suppliers and their e-procurement usage in the B2B context, creating major gaps in the e-procurement theory. This paper fills the gaps in the literature by examining the role and impact of distrust in the e-procurement context.

Resumen
Purpose The purpose of this paper is to examine theoretically and empirically what type of leadership facilitates e-business adoption in large manufacturing firms. The digital transformation of firms requires leadership that can promote the adaptive quality of organizational culture. Design/methodology/approach The authors conducted an empirical study using two key informants from a sample of 181 incumbent firms. Findings The authors find significant evidence that adaptive culture is the vehicle by which transformational leaders positively influence e-business adoption. Originality/value Given the digital economy’s external pressures, many e-business adoption processes fail due to organizational factors originating in leadership and its capability to change followers’ values, norms, and motivations. To solve this problem, the authors propose a model that explains how transformational leadership first plays a key role in changing characteristics of culture and then facilitates e-business adoption.

In this paper, we provide a form of distribution network design and application in the field of e-commerce in the supply chain, with a distribution network design approach. Thus a good distribution network model can be determined in e-commerce business and provide quality service through the delivery period of equipment and materials to the consumer's location that is fast and low cost which can provide more competitive prices for customers. This is where the role of distribution is very important, because with the distribution of all materials both raw materials and finished products can be distributed to each party in need in the supply chain. In the supply chain itself there are several distribution designs available, namely Manufacturer Storage With Direct Shipping, Manufacturer of Storage with Direct Shipping and In-Transit Merge, Storage With Carrier Delivery Distributor, Storage With Last-Mile Delivery Distributor, Manufacturer Or Distributor Storage With Customer Pickup.

Resumen
More online business applications are utilized by companies; one of which is e-procurement. PT Indesso Aroma as a manufacturing company of essential oils, natural extracts, and aromatic chemicals products needs to improve its conventional procurement process to e-procurement to be more effective and efficient. For that, a research is conducted towards the performance and interest of the company's procurement system. Furthermore, the current SAP system application support is developed, as the customer values are analyzed using gap analysis to see the benefits of its application for the company. The e-procurement design uses OOAD method with UML diagram notation including analysis of problem domain, application domain, architectural design and component design. Cost-benefit analysis is performed to see an increase in customer value from the e-procurement application based on measurements of NPV, IRR and ROI of investing in the e-procurement design. Thus an e-procurement application is created that is expected to improve the company’s procurement process with several key features such as Purchase requisition, Purchase Order, Purchase Return, Supplier Catalog and Supplier Quotation.

Resumen
Every day companies deal with internal problems in order to manage human resources during the execution of business processes. The ability to quickly identify and rapidly apply effective business practices to recurring problems becomes crucial in order to improve the efficiency of the organization. To seize the opportunity of adapting their business practices to emerging organizational forms (Extended Enterprise, Virtual Enterprise) and to reuse the expertise of knowledge workers – who are central to an organization's success – companies are required to face several challenges. This paper presents a set of business patterns useful in resolving emerging organizational issues to support the activities of knowledge workers, increase their productivity and their ability to find the information they need, and enable collaboration with colleagues without changing their habits. Also it describes a real case study and a software system that allows companies to introduce these business patterns in the workplace, adopting an Enterprise 2.0 approach.

Resumen
The challenge of creating user experiences involves a panoply of multidisciplinary competences in terms of knowing tools, processes and the business itself. This study intends to identify and synthesize the main approaches and principles adopted by web design and e-business companies to create immersive user experiences. In order to achieve this objective, the authors conducted six semi-structured interviews with web design and e-business companies. They highlight that companies adopt specific-device design, responsive design and adaptive design approaches. Companies considered fundamental to attend technology life-cycle, heterogeneity of technologies and devices, identification of customer needs, relevance of test phase, scalability of applications, and accessibility and usability issues. Additionally, the customer experience testing is considered a key element to measure user experiences and companies expect that business and technological dimensions will be two key factors with future impact in their business.

Resumen
Strategic Plan, which is usually taken from Vision, Mission, Objectives, Policies, Programs and activities that are oriented towards the goal for a certain period relating to the main tasks and functions of the Agency / Institution, prepared by consider the developments of strategic environment, the sustainability of organization without strategic plan will not be directed and guaranteed because there are no management guidelines and system improvements in order to increase the competition with other business actors. STMIK Bina Patria is a private university (PTS), but it does not have an information system (SI) strategic plan. The information system contributes to improve the quality of students’ services, operational efficiency, and students’ satisfaction. With SI / IT, the monitoring, coordination, and decision can be performed effectively. The goal can be achieved if the organization has a clear plan. And, researchers make an IT strategic plan for STMIK Bina Patria according to the TOGAF Framework with data analysis methods of Value Chain, Critical Success Factors, and SWOT. The analysis results showed that by the availability of 4 applications, 3 applications do not require any improvement, namely SI-KEU, E-LEARNING and E-JOURNAL. In contrast, an application which is SI-AKAD requires additional features. There were 5 proposed applications to be built, namely SI-PMB, SI-ALUMNI, SI-MUTU, SI-PERPUST and SI-DASHBOARD. All of application proposals are mapped into the application development roadmap within the next 5 years.

Resumen
New applications have recently emerged within the domains of e-Health, e-Science, e-Research and e-Government that require the formation of dynamic collaborations between independent, autonomous business organizations for the duration of a project designed with a specific purpose. To successfully create and manage such collaborations, there is a need of a standard way to specify: (a) what resources are required, (b) who will contribute resources, (c) the type of access required to these resources, (d) agreement and obligations of the partners within the business collaboration, with the terms and conditions specified in the agreement, and (e) how to instantiate, maintain and terminate such business collaborations easily and in a well understood manner. The authors address these issues through the creation, negotiation and execution of an agreed electronic contract. First, this paper provides a framework for an electronic contract (e-Contract) by introducing a Web Service Collaborative Context Definition Language (WS-CCDL), which was developed in the context of dynamic business collaboration. Then, the authors illustrate its use with a universal (anywhere) connectivity service for a tele-Collaboration application in the context of e-Research domain. Both architectural design and implementation considerations are provided to highlight the feasibility and complicity of the technologies.

Resumen
The complexity of Web sites are increasing and transforming into Web applications that contain business logic, interactivity, transaction handling and states. This phenomenon forces the Web developers to adapt more traditional software engineering techniques to keep the Web applications error free, maintainable, reusable, well documented etc. Many Web developers do not use any engineering techniques at all and design mainly to create as fashionable applications as possible with no regards on the application’s functionality. This results in applications that are hard to maintain and with poor functionality. The purpose with this thesis was to see if the use of a more traditional software engineering technique, namely the Unified Modeling Language with the newly added Web Application Extension, resulted in a Web application with good design regarding the maintainability of the application . To investigate the maintainability of an application, the maintainability was further divided into three sub criteria: extensibility, reusability and documentation. These three criteria were then applied on a case study were a Web application was designed. From the analysis of the final design, using the three criteria, the maintainability was derived. The result of the entire investigation showed that the UML WAE had a good support for extensibility, fair support for reusability and very good support for documentation. From these results the main conclusion was derived, that the use of UML WAE resulted in good design regarding the maintainability. However, the result is limited to our case study and the design created in that case. The result may have been different if the three criteria had been applied on a different case. Another aspect to consider is that the quality of a design is often dependent on the knowledge of the persons that carry out the design.

Resumen
The research described in this article is motivated by the need to provide models and frameworks that would guide online web-stores in their platform provisioning and customer retention. The authors propose the e-tailer Platform Functionality Model (ePFM) for modelling the requirements of business-to-consumer (B2C) online stores for Interactive Digital Media (IDM). Encompassing e-tailer strategy formulation and functional requirements of the web-store, a variation of the Empathic Design (ED) methodology was used in the field research for investigating the efficacy of the ePFM. The research suggests that incorporating multiple perspectives - namely transaction, marketing, and revenue functionalities - for an online business is a critical success factor. Secondly, development of an online business platform requires design that is aligned with customers’ expectations of each of the three functionalities. Finally, e-business managers and platform architects may need to pay special attention to strategies that advance value creation in order to retain competitive advantage. From the empirical results, the authors may conclude that while all three types of functionalities are required for market impact, there are also differences between hygiene and competitive factors that eventually differentiate between success and mediocrity.

Resumen
The rapid growth of mobile applications for smartphones in the past few years has encouraged dictionary publishers to offer mobile dictionaries. One of the most prominent target markets of mobile dictionary applications is business people, especially those who are non-native speakers of English. These business people often need a dictionary to help them understand the international news they are reading. However, as shown in the review of the current mobile business dictionaries, the dictionary applications have not taken into account the needs of the users and the technological features of smartphones. The current mobile dictionaries still resemble either their electronic versions or even worse their printed versions. This can be due to the lack of research and emphasis on the theoretical aspects of mobile lexicography. Therefore, this paper tries to formulate principles for the design of business dictionaries for mobile applications. The discussion considers the implementation of the modern theory of lexicographical functions in order to create mobile dictionaries which can better satisfy the needs of the users. The principles created are organized into two parts, they are, business news with a built-in dictionary and a dictionary with updated business news.
