An agent pursuing a task may work with a corpus of documents as a reference library. Subjective content descriptions (SCDs) provide additional data that add value in the context of the agent’s task. In the pursuit of documents to add to the corpus, an agent may come across new documents where content text and SCDs from another agent are interleaved and no distinction can be made unless the agent knows the content from somewhere else. Therefore, this paper presents a hidden Markov model-based approach to identify SCDs in a new document where SCDs occur inline among content text. Additionally, we present a dictionary selection approach to identify suitable translations for content text and SCDs based on [Formula: see text]-grams. We end with a case study evaluating both approaches based on simulated and real-world data.

Purpose The purpose of this paper is to present the possibilities of formal and structural appearances of a job description, with correct content, through corporate examples and the result of a research. Design/methodology/approach The author in this paper aims to demonstrate the possibilities of the design of job descriptions, based on more than ten-year-long, intense, empirical research of job descriptions (cca. 1,200 examined and analyzed items). Findings During the research work, a 2D job description sample has been created, mapped from a 3D job description, based on an earlier research. This 2D sample can serve as a good starting point for companies in the creation of new documents. Furthermore, the process of the formal visualization of job descriptions has been described, and structured and semi-structured formal visualization have been illustrated, with corporate examples. Research limitations/implications A well-visualized job description can lead the employee, the employer and the company as well to comprehension and competence, thus job descriptions become one of the tools of HRD visual management. Practical implications The aim is to support the job description writing process, which therefore will lead to a well-formed and well-structured, attractive, “living” document. Originality/value The form and content of a job description, the aims that it serves and the message it conveys really make a difference. 3D job descriptions are under patent design protection in Hungary (Registration Number: 90 806 D0500121).

In this paper we present a method to concatenate patent claims to their own description. By applying this method, bidirectional encoder representations from transformers (BERT) train suitable descriptions for claims. Such a trained BERT could be able to identify novelty relevant descriptions for patents. In addition, we introduce a new scoring scheme: relevance score or novelty score to interprete the output of BERT. We test the method on patent applications by training BERT on the first claims of patents and corresponding descriptions. The output is processed according to the relevance score and the results compared with the cited X documents in the search reports. The test shows that BERT score some of the cited X documents as highly relevant.

The FIPS document Special Publication 800-82 Rev 2 is more detailed than the FSTEC document in realization control levels, components, objects of ICS protection. The Special Publication includes base operations in ICS main components and enterprises network, ICS system review, USA critical object feature description. Special Publication 800-82 Rev 2 shows more quality performance than the FSTEC document. It has more pages, system descriptions, recommendation for the life cycle security system of ICS, a lot of network contents.

Two geographical descriptions of the southern lands of the Russian state at the end of the 16th century preserved in the documents of the Belgorod Department of the Military Ministry (the Razryadny prikaz): "Description of field roads" (Rospis’ pol’skim dorogam) and "Description of the map of outlying cities..." (Rospis’ chertezhu ukrainnyh gorodov…). "Description of field roads" was published for the first time in 1886 by D. I. Bagalei. "Description of the map" remained little-known in the historical literature, in the 1990s G. Saatchan was the first to mention the existence of this document. In the preface to the publication, dating of the studied descriptions is proposed based on the analysis of the dates of the emergence of cities in the "Field". "Description of field roads" was compiled between 1592 and 1594, "Description of the map" between 1596 and 1599. Analysis of the filigree sheets of the column showed that both descriptions were written on paper from the 1590s. One of the filigrees of the "Description of the map" coincides with the watermark of the 1598 Razriad book draft. This led to the conclusion that the "Description of the map" was compiled in the Razryadny prikaz in the 1590s. It can be assumed that the "Description of the map" was an intermediate document for compiling a new map. During the reign of Tsar Boris Godunov, work was carried out to compile a drawing of the Russian state, which formed the basis of the map of Russia published in 1613 by Gessel Gerrits. Perhaps one of the intermediate stages of these works was the "Description of the map". The publication is provided with a geographical index.

Audiovisual documents provide a wide range of content description through more descriptors from different media types. Indeed, the extraction of these descriptions has received an increasing attention. But, the lack of semantic description always persists. In fact, this lack affects the retrieval process. To address this problem, this paper describes an automatic and semantic description of cinematic audiovisual documents. This description is based not only on the audiovisual flux in this post-production phase but also in the documentation in the pre-production phase by using textual and visual modalities. In this context, to extract content description, we find it is essential to extract texts superposed in the image. This process is mainly based on the neural network classifier. Moreover, an effective OCR (Tesseract) is adapted for texts recognition. Experiments results confirmed the interesting performance through two databases, namely, “ICDAR 2011” and our own created database from the Internet Movie Database Imdb.

The implementation of land acquisition for the construction of the Barabai flood management pond has been completed successfully and is regarded as a success. One of the factors influencing the success of its execution is land acquisition planning, as stated in the Land Acquisition Planning Document (DPPT). The goal of this research was to assess the quality of the mandatory cargo in the Regulatory Pond Development Plan Document for Flood Control of the Barabai River for the Fiscal Year 2021. The quality of the mandatory cargo for the DPPT is determined using a qualitative technique with descriptive analysis in accordance with Ministerial Regulation Spatial Planning (ATR) /Head of the National Land Agency (BPN) No. 19 of 2021. The document was recognized and examined based on the regulation's mandatory content. Document studies were conducted to acquire data by studying the contents of the DPPT. The study revealed that there are 38 descriptions that must be met in order to create the DPPT. A total of 29 descriptions in the planning document have been thoroughly examined in their analysis, while nine descriptions require further discussion in the document. The presence of more favorable than bad descriptors in the DPPT implies that the stages of land acquisition planning and implementation are in sync. The first part of the article comments on descriptions made by foreign observers of Shamanistic ceremonies among the Buryats. The ceremony described by John Bell, a Scot in the retinue of a Russian embassy, seems to have been an artificial performance put on for the members of the embassy. The other descriptions are by the English missionaries in Siberia, for long the Buryats' neighbours at the beginning of the 19th century. The second part of the article deals with certain aspects of these descriptions : for instance, the question of the mixture of Buddhism and Shamanism already noted by the missionaries, and which reappears a hundred years later in some of the Shamanist prayers published by Rintchen and translated by M.-D. Even. Particular attention is given to the « development » of the figure of Ataγa tngri as depicted in these prayers.

Background: Health systems are based on 6 functions that need to work together at all times to effectively deliver safe and quality health services. These functions are vulnerable to shocks and changes; if a health system is unable to withstand the pressure from a shock, it may cease to function or collapse. The concept of resilience has been introduced with the goal of strengthening health systems to avoid disruption or collapse. The concept is new within health systems research, and no common description exists to describe its meaning. The aim of this study is to summarize and characterize the existing descriptions of health system resilience to improve understanding of the concept. Methods and Analysis: A scoping review was undertaken to identify the descriptions and characteristics of health system resilience. Four databases and gray literature were searched using the keywords "health system" and "resilience" for published documents that included descriptions, frameworks or characteristics of health system resilience. Additional documents were identified from reference lists. Four expert consultations were conducted to gain a broader perspective. Descriptions were analysed by studying the frequency of key terms and were characterized by using the World Health Organization (WHO) health system framework. The scoping review identified eleven sources with descriptions and 24 sources that presented characteristics of health system resilience. Frequently used terms that were identified in the literature were shock, adapt, maintain, absorb and respond. Change and learning were also identified when combining the findings from the descriptions, characteristics and expert consultations. Leadership and governance were recognized as the most important building block for creating health system resilience. Discussion: No single description of health system resilience was used consistently. A variation was observed on how resilience is described and to what depth it was explained in the existing literature. The descriptions of health system resilience primarily focus on major shocks. Adjustments to long-term changes and the element of learning should be considered for a better understating of health system resilience.

Abstract This paper presents assumptions for a system of automatic cataloging and semantic text documents searching. As an example, a document repository for metals processing technology was used. The system by using ontological model provides the user with a new approach to the exploration of database resources - easier and more intuitive information search. In the current document storage systems, searching is often based only on keywords and descriptions created manually by the system administrator. The use of text mining methods, especially latent semantic indexing, allows automatic clustering of documents with respect to their content. The result of this clustering is integrated with the ontological model, making navigation through documents resources intuitive and does not require the manual creation of directories. Such an approach seems to be particularly useful in a situation where we are dealing with large repositories of unstructured documents from such sources as the Internet. This situation is very typical for cases of searching information and knowledge in the area of metallurgy, for example with regard to innovation and non-traditional suppliers of materials and equipment.

Descriptions of the spatial locations of disappeared objects are often recorded in eyewitness records, travel notes, and historical documents. However, in geographic information system (GIS), the observer-centered and vague nature of the descriptions causes difficulties in representing the spatial characters of these objects. To address this problem, this paper proposes a Fuzzy Spatial Region Extraction Model for Object’s Vague Location Description from Observer Perspective (FSREM-OP). In this model, the spatial relationship between the observer and the object are represented in spatial knowledge. It is composed of “phrase” and “region”. Based on the spatial knowledge, three components of spatial inference are constructed: Spatial Entities (SEs), Fuzzy Spatial Regions (FSRs), and Spatial Actions (SAs). Through spatial knowledge and the components of FSREM-OP, an object’s location can be inferred from an observer’s describing text, transforming the vagueness and subjectivity of location description into fuzzy spatial regions in the GIS. The FSREM-OP was tested by constructing a group of observers, object position relationships and vague descriptions. The results show that it is capable of extracting the spatial information and presenting location descriptions in the GIS, despite the vagueness and subjective spatial relation expressions in the descriptions.

The use of a text mining approach for full automatic taxonomy creation for content management has proven with serious limitations. The high level semantics indicating relevant association of entities among the documents are often not explored. This study introduces a feasible method that allows identifying high level semantics into text mining procedures while providing for appropriate levels of document descriptions to support access and discoverability. Due to the effectiveness of categorization and adequacy of the structure created can be better determined by humans who are familiar to the documents, qualitative inquiry rather than a purely experimental design was applied. The study collected the data and run the text mining analysis with text analysis, clustering and topic extraction. Two examples show how to develop a faceted classification structure to support digital collection access and navigation using the method. The study indicates that the text-mining method supports taxonomy creation with more efficiency and accuracy when human domain and application knowledge are captured during data collection and text mining processing. The proposed method of taxonomy creation would support the creation of new knowledge.

Clustering text documents is the process of dividing textual material into groups or clusters. Due to the large volume of text documents in electronic forms that have been made with the development of internet technology, document clustering has gained considerable attention. Data mining methods for grouping these texts into meaningful clusters are becoming a critical method. Clustering is a branch of data mining that is a blind process used to group data by a similarity known as a cluster. However, the clustering should be based on semantic similarity rather than using syntactic notions, which means the documents should be clustered according to their meaning rather than keywords. This article presents a novel strategy for categorizing articles based on semantic similarity. This is achieved by extracting document descriptions from the IMDB and Wikipedia databases. The vector space is then formed using TFIDF, and clustering is accomplished using the Affinity propagation and K-means methods. The findings are computed and presented on an interactive website.

We present a framework for the describing the genres of illustrated documents, based on analysis at five levels: content structure, rhetorical structure, layout structure, navigation structure, and linguistic structure. We also include three sources of constraints under which a document might be produced and interpreted: canvas constraints, production constraints, and consumption constraints. Document genres are conceptualised as complex specifications composed of descriptions at each of the five levels that conform in characteristic ways to the three kinds of constraint. We propose that the eight parameters together form a ‘space’ of possible identities for documents, electronic or paper. The notion of ‘genre space’ captures the fact that it is possible for new genres to develop at different positions in the space, as well enabling relationships between document types, or even transformations between them, to be examined and described.

In a recent paper in Zoologica Scripta, the formal diagnoses and descriptions of two new Bornean gekkonid gecko species of the Cyrtodactylus consobrinus (Peters, 1871) complex were included in online supplementary material. Although the new nomina were associated with ZooBank registration identifiers, the supplementary document in which these LSIDs appeared was not published in a format with fixed content and layout. As such, the new nomina cannot be considered to have been promulgated in the electronic version of the paper, as it was not compliant with the International Code of Zoological Nomenclature as amended in 2012. A subsequently published printed version of the paper did make these nomina nomenclaturally available but, following author guidelines, relegated the descriptions and diagnoses, including data critical to justifying recognition of these new cryptic taxa, to online supplementary material. Because of the impermanence of this supplementary document, we here provide the diagnoses, descriptions and type specimen data for these two Cyrtodactylus. We recommend that taxonomists refrain from publishing works containing taxon descriptions and other nomenclatural acts in journals that require critical data to be placed in online supplementary documents.

Abstract The article discusses the descriptions of Jehoash’s and Josiah’s restorations of the temple in the Book of Kings. Two Neo-Babylonian legal documents are examined in order to demonstrate how ideological the descriptions of the repair works undertaken by the two kings are. The comparison further shows the cooperation of the royal and temple administrations in Babylonia and Judah in supervising the internal affairs of temples. Epigraphic Judahite documents shed some light on the management of workers in the kingdom. However, in spite of the many cuneiform and epigraphic documents published so far, fundamental elements in the administration of building projects in the First Temple Judah remain practically unknown.

On division APU & PPT in one of the private banks in Surabaya, there is a gap between the job descriptions written in the documents and those carried out by office holders in the field, causing office holders to feel confused in carrying out work, which affects the productivity of office holders, and there is no competency standards for each position in the APU&PPT division. The purpose of this research is to reduce the gap between written job descriptions and job descriptions in the field and to provide competency standards for each position. This research is qualitative research with a variety of case studies. The methods used to gather data in conducting job analysis are interviews, observation, and literature studies. The results of this study indicate an improvement in job descriptions and competency mapping required by each position in the APU & PPT division. The results of this study can be used by companies as job description documents and job competency standards.Uraian pekerjaan merupakan hal yang penting bagi sebuah perusahaan. Pada divisi APU & PPT di salah satu Bank swasta yang ada di Surabaya, terdapat kesenjangan antara uraian pekerjaan yang tertulis di dokumen dan yang dilakukan pemangku jabatan di lapangan sehingga menyebabkan para pemangku jabatan merasa kebingungan dalam melaksanakan pekerjaan, dimana hal tersebut mempengaruhi produktivitas dari para pemegang jabatan, serta belum adanya standar kompetensi pada masing-masing jabatan pada divisi APU&PPT. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengurangi adanya kesenjangan antara job description yang tertulis dengan job description yang ada di lapangan dan dapat memberikan standar kompetensi bagi masing-masing jabatan. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kualitatif dengan ragam studi kasus. Metode yang dipergunakan untuk menggali data dalam melakukan analisa jabatan adalah wawancara, observasi, dan studi literatur. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan adanya perbaikan uraian pekerjaan serta pemetaan kompetensi yang dibutuhkan oleh masing-masing jabatan pada divisi APU & PPT. Hasil pada penelitian ini dapat dipergunakan oleh perusahaan sebagai dokumen uraian pekerjaan dan standar kompetensi jabatan.

<p><em>This study aims to: (1) determine the implementation of employee job descriptions; (2) know the obstacles in implementing employee job descriptions; and (3) find out the solution to the problem of implementing the job description at DPMPTSP Surakarta. This research uses a qualitative approach with a case study method. This study's data sources include informants, places, events, and documents. The sampling technique used purposive sampling and snowball sampling. Data collection techniques used semi-structured interviews, passive participatory observation, and document analysis. The validity of this research was tested using technical triangulation and source triangulation. Data analysis uses an interactive model to make the research results easy to understand. The results of this study are: (1) The implementation of employee job descriptions at the Surakarta City DPMPTSP guided by the Vision and Mission, Surakarta Mayor Regulation Number 40 of 2021, and Surakarta Mayor's Decree Number 800.1/97.1 of 2021, the preparation has taken into account the principles of Systematic, Clear, Concise, Precise, and Obedient, and the placement of employees who are not in accordance with the Decree of the Mayor of Surakarta Number 800.1/97.1 of 2021; (2) Obstacles in employee job descriptions in the form of the slow process of fulfilling the number of employees, the absence of work SOPs, increasing workloads for some employees, and restrictions on opening student internships during the pandemic; and (3) The solution to the problem of implementing employee job descriptions is submitting a proposal for a shortage of employees to the Surakarta City BKD, compiling work SOPs, proposing workload distribution, and utilizing existing human resources.</em></p>

Most multimedia documents available today are agnostic to data semantics. Moreover, their specification language offers little to ease authoring of meaningful content. In this paper, we present the main entities of a new version (3.1) of the Nested Context Model (NCM), which concentrate efforts at integrating support for enriched concept description to the model. These extensions enable the specification of relationships between concept descriptions and multimedia content in the hypermedia way, composing what we call hyperknowledge in this paper. NCM previous version (3.0) is a hypermedia conceptual model. NCL (Nested Context Language), which is part of international standards and ITU recommendations, was engineered according to NCM 3.0 definitions. The extensions discussed in this paper contribute not only for advances in the NCL, but mainly as a conceptual model for hyperknowledge document engineering.

The loss of cultural references needed to understand a document implies the necessity to recontextualise documents. This means adding elements, such as titles, descriptions and other information. This paper analyzes the case of a video published by Ina on its Web platform Ina.fr and its Blog, the Blognote. The video, dated 1st January 1947, is a report envisioning a future when surveillance cameras would be installed on the streets in Paris. These two instances of publication offer two different views on the editorialization of video archives.

The situation related to the primary documents and the structure of their forms for accounting for intangible assets needs to be resolved. The existence of a number of options for the use of forms of primary documents for accounting for intangible assets, which complicates the documentation process, as the primary forms are partially collected and regulated by several laws and regulations. The need to streamline and summarize the primary documents for accounting for intangible assets and goodwill is emphasized, the order of which should be regulated by a single document. It is recommended to implement the Guidelines for the use of forms of primary accounting of intangible assets and goodwill, with a set of relevant details, which should include documents that will reflect all groups of intangible assets, not just those related to intellectual property. Emphasis was placed on the need to develop primary documentation that will reflect the operations with the formation of intangible assets that will create internal goodwill. It is noted that the use of uniform, agreed forms of primary accounting of intangible assets is also necessary to improve the quality of inspections by regulatory authorities. Primary accounting forms for inventory of intangible assets № IA-4 «Inventory description of intellectual property rights (PR)» and № IA-5 «Inventory description of objects of the right to use natural resources, property and other intangible assets» are developed and recommended to use. It is substantiated to make clarifications and introduce additional details to the inventory descriptions, which is necessary to improve the quality of information formation during the inventory. Emphasis is placed on the need to disclose in the process of inventory objective information about intellectual property objects by checking them for functional compliance, to record the working condition of such objects.

Many documents contain vague location descriptions of observed objects. To represent location information in geographic information systems (GISs), these vague location descriptions need to be transformed into representable fuzzy spatial regions, and knowledge about the location descriptions of observer-to-object spatial relations must serve as the basis for this transformation process. However, a location description from the observer perspective is not a specific fuzzy function, but comes from a subjective viewpoint, which will be different for different individuals, making the corresponding knowledge difficult to represent or obtain. To extract spatial knowledge from such subjective descriptions, this research proposes a virtual reality (VR)-based fuzzy spatial relation knowledge extraction method for observer-centered vague location descriptions (VR-FSRKE). In VR-FSRKE, a VR scene is constructed, and users can interactively determine the fuzzy region corresponding to a location description under the simulated VR observer perspective. Then, a spatial region clustering mechanism is established to summarize the fuzzy regions identified by various individuals into fuzzy spatial relation knowledge. Experiments show that, on the basis of interactive scenes provided through VR, VR-FSRKE can efficiently extract spatial relation knowledge from many individuals and is not restricted by requirements of a certain place or time; furthermore, the knowledge obtained by VR-FSRKE is close to the knowledge obtained from a real scene.

Introduction. The inventory of buildings and property are an accounting document. The largescale description of the lands and property of the spiritual patrimony of 1701–1705 carried out within the framework of the Church Reform of Peter I should be considered as a stage in the control of the state over the material welfare of the Church. Materials. Inventories of bishops houses and monasteries were found in the central and regional archives. A number of documents of the early 18th century were published. Analysis. Different census takers carried out descriptions of the patrimonies of the Vologda Bishops house in five regions of the country, which indicates applying the uyezd by uyezd principle of the description of the regions. The comparison of the texts shows that census books of the patrimonies of the Vologda Bishops house of 1701–1702 were primary in relation to the census of economy (statements) of the Vologda Bishops house in 1702–1703. An inventory of the Bishops Treasury was also made. Results. The comparison of three censuses (patrimony, economy, treasury) gave state documents on the basis of which it was possible to make a complete picture of the economy and property of the Vologda house of St. Sophia. In this regard, a complete secularization of Church possessions actually took place, however it was not fully formalized legally.

This article aimed to map the reference level description of the Arabic Language Proficiency Test in Indonesia with an adaptation based on the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR). In this context, the article focused on developing reference level descriptions to assess Arabic language proficiency in Indonesia. A qualitative approach was used through document analysis. Evaluation questions on the Ikhtibarat Maharah Lughah Arabiyah (Imalah) test were cariied out as the data source as well as the CEFR guiding concept issued by Council of Europe. This research was carried out according to the design, namely starting with collecting data in the form of documents related to the CEFR and Arabic language tests, then the data collected was reduced and presented in the form of tables, diagrams or narratives and at the end there were conclusions drawn. The findings of this study reinforced the research objectives by demonstrating that the test includes reference level descriptions that are international standards. This assisted in assessing and understanding the extent to which an individual has mastered the Arabic language. In other words, these findings confirmed that the implementation of international reference level descriptions in the test supports the achievement of the established research objectives, which was to assist in assessing the language proficiency of individuals in Arabic. By adopting the CEFR, this not only helped to measure language proficiency easier, but also facilitated a better understanding of the level of Arabic competency required for educational, employment or general communication purposes.

This study investigates the descriptions of support measures in the sequential pedagogical documents (individual education plans or programs and others) of children with special education needs from early childhood education and care to preprimary education. According to the previous research, the role of pedagogical work is largely disregarded in these documents, which typically focus on describing children’s challenges instead of support measures. In this study, the sequential pedagogical documents ( N = 257) of 64 Finnish children were studied for approximately 3 to 6 years, and the data were analyzed by investigating the textual and content-related coherence, as well as the linguistic precision, of the descriptions of support. Consequently, four chronological patterns of describing and developing the support measures—missing, repetitious, disorganized, and explicit—were introduced, and the study results emphasize the importance of the specificity and continuity of documentation.

Due to the availability of a vast amount of unstructured data in various forms (e.g., the web, social networks, etc.), the clustering of text documents has become increasingly important. Traditional clustering algorithms have not been able to solve this problem because the semantic relationships between words could not accurately represent the meaning of the documents. Thus, semantic document clustering has been extensively utilized to enhance the quality of text clustering. This method is called unsupervised learning and it involves grouping documents based on their meaning, not on common keywords. This paper introduces a new method that groups documents from online laboratory repositories based on the semantic similarity approach. In this work, the dataset is collected first by crawling the short real-time descriptions of the online laboratories’ repositories from the Web. A vector space is created using frequency-inverse document frequency (TF-IDF) and clustering is done using the K-Means and Hierarchical Agglomerative Clustering (HAC) algorithms with different linkages. Three scenarios are considered: without preprocessing (WoPP); preprocessing with steaming (PPwS); and preprocessing without steaming (PPWoS). Several metrics have been used for evaluating experiments: Silhouette average, purity, V-measure, F1-measure, accuracy score, homogeneity score, completeness and NMI score (consisting of five datasets: online labs, 20 NewsGroups, Txt_sentoken, NLTK_Brown and NLTK_Reuters). Finally, by creating an interactive webpage, the results of the proposed work are contrasted and visualized.

Forms and documents play significant roles in the context of care work for older people. One type of form that care workers use on a daily basis is individual care descriptions (ICDs). An ICD is a text that is written on a piece of paper or on a computer, and specifies the care tasks to be carried out. How do ICDs operate in local settings of care work for older people? Anchored in insights from institutional ethnography, I investigate care work practices from the standpoint of care workers in care settings in Norway. In the empirical analysis, I identify and pay attention to two particular ICDs and how they enter the everyday care work practices. The findings indicate that ICDs contribute to standardizing care work practices that are related to changes in the cultural and institutional foundations of the welfare state. Furthermore, ICDs coordinate practices in different ways, and promote several forms of coordination. Hence, when analysing care descriptions at work, awareness of contextual sensitivity is called for. This paper contributes to research on management and power relationships in home care and nursing care work by illustrating different dimensions of textually based coordination.

Reducing the dimension of the feature space for describing thematic documents is considered. Descriptions of documents are presented in the form of an “object-property” table, for the formation of which thematic dictionaries were developed with a volume of no more than 100 keywords for each subject area. The correctness of the formation of dictionaries is proved in the framework of the problem of the pattern recognition with disjoint classes. Results of the analysis of the topological properties of the feature space by the values of the compactness measures are used as a research tool. The values of the compactness measures are the quantitative estimation of structures in relations between objects for each class and for the sample as a whole. The structure of relationships is investigated through the division of the class objects into disjoint groups. A path always may be created based on binary relation of connectedness between any two objects of a group. The choice of the space for the description of documents is made by solving the problem of conditional optimization using the Lagrange method. The condition for the formation of an ordered sequence of features is determined. Applying of an ordered sequence is considered as a method to reduce the combinatorial complexity of the selection algorithms. When removing uninformative features from the description of documents, the value of the measure of the compactness of the sample reaches its maximum. A visual representation of the complexity of the configuration of groups and the connectivity of objects from their composition is given.

This study aimed to describe character building of ethics addressed in the undergraduate English curriculum documents. Curriculum document is a planning, implementation, evaluation, management, and administration of education programs either in written forms, spoken statements, descriptions, or archaeologies. The curriculum document which had been analyzed consisted of semester planning of teaching and learning program (SPTLP)/syllabus, learning material and assessment taken from three universities – one was from Jakarta and the others were from Bandung. This study used qualitative content analysis method. The result of this study showed that ethical values such as trustworthiness, respect, responsibility, fairness, caring, and citizenship were addressed in SPTLP/syllabus, learning materials, and assessments in each university either explicitly or implicitly in the form of words, phrases, and clauses. In SPTLP/syllabus, ethical values were presented in basic competences, learning objectives, and course policies. In learning materials, ethical values were presented in topics and contents while in assessments ethical values were presented in assessment competences, assessment criteria and assessment form, and course policies.

Electronic health record (EHR) analysis has become increasingly important in improving the quality of human healthcare. To leverage the full insights from the big EHRs, it is very important to define some application scenarios for which the relevant data can be extracted for training machine learning models to accomplish the expected goals. In this paper, we develop a system on how to recommend medical treatment solutions for patients living in the countryside and small cities when they happen to have schizophrenia but the doctors in the local hospitals do not have sufficient expertise to deal with such challenges. In the EHRs, we take the patients’ symptom descriptions as documents and then develop NLP and unsupervised machine learning techniques to analyze such documents to find the relevant and effective treatment solutions provided by medical experts. Extensive experimental results with different vector representations for documents show that the binary keyword vector representation works best to find relevant and effective medical treatment plans and solutions from the EHRs for any input symptom description.

PurposeSharing information about work processes has proven to be difficult. This applies especially to information shared from those who participate in a process to those who remain outsiders. The purpose of this article is to increase understanding of how professionals document their work practices with a focus on information making by analysing how archaeologists document their information work in archaeological reports.Design/methodology/approachIn total 47 Swedish archaeological reports published in 2018 were analysed using close reading and constant comparative categorisation.FindingsEven if explicit narratives of methods and work process have particular significance as documentation of information making, the evidence of information making is spread out all over the report document in (1) procedural narratives, (2) descriptions of methods and tools, (3) actors and actants, (4) photographs, (5) information sources, (6) diagrams and drawings and (7) outcomes. The usability of reports as conveyors of information on information making depends more on how a forthcoming reader can live with it as a whole rather than how to learn of the details it recites.Research limitations/implicationsThe study is based on a limited number of documents representing one country and one scholarly and professional field.Practical implicationsIncreased focus on the internal coherence of documentation and the complementarity of different types of descriptions could improve information sharing. Further, descriptions of concepts that refer to work activities and the situation when information came into being could similarly improve their usability.Originality/valueThere is little earlier research on how professionals and academics document and describe their information activities.

Library is a cultural institute accumulating in itself various functions, including museum and archival ones. The author views personal, private, home or family library entering a museum collection as an indispensable component so museumification becomes the mode of its processing. In 2019 Gomel Regional Library became the owner of the unique archive of Gomel architects Ivan and Valentina Burlak, which consisted of 276 objects including 64 documents of their family library. This archive was sectioned into three collections: that of Ivan Burlak, of Valentina Burlak and general collection. This home library was inventoried as a complex of printed editions. The author worked out a concept according to which information and bibliographic, specific and structural polygraphic peculiarities of documents revealed themselves as much as possible. Structural elements of documents descriptions became: format, character of design and polygraphic implementation, degree of its safety, presence of provenances and inscriptions, belonging, source and way of acquisition, pressmarks. When creating pressmarks, the author of this article was guided by museum practice of objects systematization. Terminological system of document management and attribution completely describes library collections received as a gift and being an integral part of museum collections. Museumification makes it possible to identify more accurately any document belonging to library and museum collections. An organic combination and application of practical methods of document management and attribution expands public library’ possibilities, contributes to its development as a scientific institution.

The processes of educational planning and program development at the local and national levels differ in centralized and decentralized educational systems. In Türkiye, there is a centralized education system, and curricula are created centrally to include all students. In the United States of America, there is a nationally disseminated curriculum framework for science education and a set of standards developed in accordance with these frameworks, while curriculum development continues at the local level based on these two national documents. Seeing how the curricula are designed in the different systems and what details they provide to teachers would be a source for designing curriculum development policies. The purpose of this study is to provide a comparative description of the scope of curriculum documents and the details of the information they contain in two different systems. The research is a comparative, holistic, multi-case study conducted by analyzing curriculum documents at the national level. As a result of the research, national curriculum documents for science education in the United States contain comprehensive descriptions of expected outcomes and content, even as curriculum development continues to occur at the local level. In contrast, Türkiye's science curriculum describes expected outcomes and content in less detail. The outcomes are discussed in terms of curriculum elements, system diversity, and literature.

The article examines the accounting documents (“Stateinye spiski”) of the Russian ambassadors, Peter Shafirov and Michael Sheremetev, in Istanbul during the years 1711–1714. They were assembled several years after the embassy returned to Russia, in 1721, and are currently held in archives in Moscow and St. Petersburg. “Stateinye spiski” show complex circumstances in which the Russian ambassadors had to struggle in order to sign a peace treaty with the Ottoman Empire after the unsuccessful Prut campaign. The documents are daily reports that contain descriptions of events, the contents of letters sent and received, the text of decrees, and papers associated with peace treaties projects. Particularly significant are descriptions of the diplomats’ actions during conference preparation and during meetings with Turkish representatives; features of etiquette are also noted.

Purpose Business processes (BPs) of public administrations (PAs) are often described in the form of written procedures or operational manuals. These business process descriptions are expected to be properly understood and applied by civil servants, who have to provide legally compliant service provisions to the citizens. However, process descriptions in the PA are sometimes hard to read, ambiguous, or vague, leading to false interpretations or even incorrect execution of the processes. The purpose of this paper is to focus on improving the descriptions of BPs to be used in PAs. Design/methodology/approach To this end, the authors present an in-depth domain analysis, including a literature review and interviews with PA stakeholders belonging to different realities. From this analysis, the authors identified a set of 52 typical defects of process descriptions. Findings The authors provide a set of guidelines and a template to constrain the definition of these documents and to mitigate the identified defects. Furthermore, the authors outline research challenges in the field of quality assessment of textual process descriptions for the PA. Research limitations/implications This paper addresses the needs of any PA officer who has to write an official procedure or operational manual, and should be studied by researchers who wish to provide automatic strategies to check the quality of these documents. Originality/value Text quality issues have been addressed in various fields (e.g. requirements engineering), but not in the area of BP descriptions of PAs. The contribution consists in the study of the quality issues that occur and create problems in the practice of this particular domain. Based on this insight, we provide directions for research that will find solutions to mitigate the issues.

Information retrieval (IR) methods seek to locate meaningful documents in large collections of textual and other data. Few studies apply these techniques to discover descriptions in historical documents for physical geography applications. This absence is noteworthy given the use of qualitative historical descriptions in physical geography and the amount of historical documentation online. This study, therefore, introduces an IR approach for finding meaningful and geographically resolved historical descriptions in large digital collections of historical documents. Presenting a biogeography application, it develops a ‘search engine’ using a boosted regression trees (BRT) model to assist in finding forest compositional descriptions (FCDs) based on textual features in a collection of county histories. The study then investigates whether FCDs corroborate existing estimates of relative abundances and spatial distributions of tree taxa from presettlement land survey records (PLSRs) and existing range maps. The BRT model is trained using portions of text from 458 US county histories. Evaluating the model’s performance upon a spatially independent test dataset, the model helps discover 97.5% of FCDs while reducing the amount of text to search through to 0.3% of total. The prevalence rank of taxa in FCDs (i.e. the number of times a taxon is mentioned at least once in an FCD, divided by the total number of FCDs, then ranked) is strongly related to the abundance rank in PLSRs. Patterns in species mentions from FCDs generally match relative abundance patterns from PLSRs. However, analyses suggest that FCDs contain biases towards large and economically valuable tree taxa and against smaller taxa. In the end, the study demonstrates the potential of IR approaches for developing novel datasets over large geographic areas, corroborating existing historical datasets, and providing spatial coverage of historic phenomena.

The article objective is to represent the analysis results of the flow of published documents that highlight the contribution of Novosibirsk city and Novosibirsk Region residents to the victory over fascism during the Great Patriotic war. The documentary flow consisted of more than 600 publications over a 30-year period, which was selected of the regional bibliographic database “Scientific Sibirika” generated by the State Public Scientific and Technological Library of the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences using analytical services. The paper presents a brief scientometric analysis of a document corpus, as well as features of its temporal, thematic, and type-specific structure. Emphasis is placed on the characteristics of monographic publications: their variety is shown, and monograph bibliographic descriptions are given. The article lists the most productive periodicals and thematic collections on the topic, scientific events, where discussions took place on the life of the Siberian region and its inhabitants during the war years. It names Novosiberians – participants of military operations, materials about whom are included into the database. Authors with high publication activity on the above-mentioned subjects are identified. It is concluded that the thematic section “History of Siberia and the Far East” of the database “Scientific Sibirika” serves as a reliable source base for historical and regional studies. Introducing modern technologies in the bibliographic practice makes it possible to work remotely not only with bibliographic descriptions, but with full texts of electronic documents as well.

Courtroom talk in child custody interrogations recurrently features contrasting event descriptions about ‘what happened’, as well as contrasting person descriptions. This case study – from a large set of audio-recorded courtroom examinations – documents how social workers’ contrasting narrative versions about alleged domestic violence are related to divergent problem formulations. Blame-account sequences feature descriptions of a particular event as violent or nonviolent and descriptions of a new partner as ‘non-adult’ or merely as ‘impulsive’ but ‘concerned’. Other contrasting person descriptions feature a target child either as ‘normal’ or as someone who ‘has a diagnosis’. This involves categorizations of the particular child either as a victim (‘normal child’) or as someone ‘with a diagnosis’, two contrasting accounts that provide divergent explanatory formulations of what the overall problem is. Ultimately, divergent testimonies also reflect how social accounts in court reflect both mitigated/aggravated descriptions of violence and divergent accounts of parents’ and children’s agency and accountability.

The article focuses on the integration of technical solutions into the sphere of art. The issue is that the art is attributed to the copyright, practically not using the full potential of industrial property and state protection of technical solutions. A patent is not only a legal document certifying priority and authorship, but the description to it is a full-fledged information resource that contains reliable information about the development. The article identifies the advantages and methodological grounds for using patent information in research activities, which can help reveal previously unknown features of the creativity of figures or art movements, for example, technologies for creating works of art in the field of sculpture, graphics and painting or Theremin prototypes. Based on the presented descriptions of inventions in music, painting, sculpture, for which protection documents were issued by the Russian Empire, the USSR and the Russian Federation, conclusions were drawn that patent information is a source of both cultural understanding of art and the creative process in creating new works of art.

Landscapes, Documents or Vedute ? Étienne Dupérac’s Engraved Views and their Function in Rome in the 16th Century. On the basis of Renaissance descriptions of Rome, this essay outlines a critical and methodological reflection on the notion of “ views” at that period, the character of these images and their use in the fields of topography, urban landscape and the study of individual monuments. Through the analysis of drawings and prints, “views” are revealed as an ideal form of description (descriptio) that provides a variety of authors a perfect articulation between the aims of the text and those of the image. The ways in which these views are composed, read and labelled are considered using Étienne Dupérac’s Vestigi dell’antichità di Roma (1575). The essay presents several case studies of uses of views and ends with an analysis of the “public” function of prints in 16th-century art and culture.

This article discusses the experience of developing and implementing a university management information system, as part of the implementation tasks in accordance with the Regulation on the credit system of education in higher professional educational institutions in Republic of Tajikistan, which was approved by Ministry of education and science of Republic Tajikistan from 30.12.2016 г., with number № 19/24. This study presents the general results obtained during the automation of document management (workflow of documents) in university based on a management information system of Khujand Polytechnic institute of Tajik technical university (KPITTU). It is described the functionality of the system based on the conceptual document management scheme at the university. It is given the descriptions of the proposed multi-module system architecture with a brief description of each module. The main tasks pursued by the management information system are considered: ensuring effective management and transparency of the organization activity at all levels, information storage, data management and access regulation, formalization of the activities of each employee, optimization of business processes, saving of resources by reducing the cost of managing paper records. Optimization of educational processes and decision making for university management is analysed. Determining the efficiency from embedding automation in KPITTU is given.
