Texto completoThe Reunionese musical scenery is constituted from three mains musicals genres : the sega, the maloya and the variety song. Differents fonctions correspond to these genres. This differenciation of fonctions goes along with distinction of musical forms, thematics and linguistics shapes. The use of differencies linguistics variety was then out standing and representative of the reunionese linguistics practive. This differentiation are still more symbolics at this actuel day and work like identities markers as the tendency to interbreading causes in the acts a fusion of genre. So, the distriution of the linguistics variety according to the genre is no longer so obvious. We will dismiss however the hypothesis of a linguistic as well as musical decreolization in spite of the undopted influence that french language exert over the creole and that foreign musics exert over reunionese music today

Texto completoBiofuels become, in more and more countries, the environmentally friendly solution against the prospect of the reduction fossil fuels. Nevertheless, one must know that the production of ethanol generates an important amount of highly concentrated organic liquid wastes. We examine different options of waste management. Then, we focus on deep-well injection as a possible solution in the case of the Distillery of Savanna, located at Bois Rouge, La Réunion, Indian Ocean. Under 80m of silty alluviums, the confined volcanic aquifer as target for injection is relevant. We find that clogging appears, due to suspended solids and to biological activity. We suggest that leakance explain the lack of influence on the observation wells. We also show that aquifer's characteristics have a transient behaviour, depending on the flow rate. Numerical simulations give a travel time of 4 years until the discharge into the ocean, where ecological surveys attest a highly positive influence on benthic fauna

Texto completoThis research is interested in the variety of aquatic relations on La Réunion island, a pluricultural space undergone by many conflicts about identity, and historically marked by metropolitan domination. More precisely, we'll view the differences and the similarities between two large cultural groups of people : Reunionians and French Metropolitans. As water isn't just a pure abstraction or an intimate disposition (Bachelard), it must be put back in situations. The concept of “aquatic situation” allows us to take different elements into account, such as natural, social, cultural elements. The theoretical angle mingles anthropology and sociology. Our data is based upon a series of observations and interviews. At first, the variety of aquatic practising and sensitivities are presented (ordinary, functional, utilitarian, sacred, risky, play, sporting, controlled, rationalized, contemplated water). Then, an interpreting even explicative system is put forward. If aquatic relations seem to be in conformity, even in consistency, with a global sociocultural context, the analysis at an individual level turns out to be unavoidable. A historical angle gives account of properties and dispositions, sometimes extremely numerous, which are likely to influence aquatic relations. A situational angle reminds us that the context is essential to understand the practising. The interaction between the actors' properties and those of situations can be at the origin of modifications of practising. Finally, a teleological angle shows how aquatic relations are the result of actors consciously or unconsciously motivated by distinctive and/or identity concerns. Aquatic practising and situations can be considered as “symbolic ressources” in struggles to impose or protect a social order

Texto completoThe land, the whole of fitted and used land, is in the dead of the current events in Reunion society. The penury of land entails a strong unsuitability between needs of society and capacities of land to satisfy them. The consequences, which derive from this depression situation, result at first time in land speculation which make very difficult the access to the accommodation for middle class and working class on the one hand and on the other impede economic activity (unemployment rate very high). At that, we have to add the strong urban pressure which is exerted on farm land and on natural zone present in Micro-region sud and in Reunion Island. We witness at a fall of farm land (in area) which reflect in economic farm in one way harmful. Micro-region sud and Reunion Island, in general, are at the turn of their history on a level with country planning; the radicals and innovative decisions will be taking

Texto completoModernism focused on agricultural development cuts territorial development of agriculture. Nonetheless, the ancestral link to land is not broken and complex connections between agriculture and territory remain. Theses connections create new “ruralities” which weaken agriculture on territories. Reunion Island has been shaped by colonial plantation economy. Today its agricultural seaside is under urban pressure while its “heights” are marginalized. This dichotomy is emphasized by strong agricultural industries settled in the low parts of the Island as for the “heights” struggle impulsing a reflexion on rural development. Agriculture and rurality are strongly divided. The impact of agriculture on territories is not taken into account in the main debates. The agricultural depression of the “Heights” deepens the gap between the assisted and the ones who benefit from touristic development even if the farmers are encouraged. Seaside urbanisation threatens the agricultural industries therefore the local authorities are sollicitated for land regulation. Agricultural charter planification is issued from these two views. It tries to go beyond the oppositions in order to gain territorial efficiency. It also encourages innovation, linking agriculture and territories. Agriculture will subsist only if it questions the existing model and tries to created this new link. This is the price to pay for sustainable development on the Island. The searcher has the tools to build this perspective

It is only in 1804-1805 that it is well and definitively established, over all because of the application of the Consulate law. The profession is consecrated in 1849. The notaries in the Colonies get the right (recognised for the ministerial officers since 1816) to present their successors to the agreement of the Chief of the French State. There is always a continuity in the employment of notaries in spite of the political changements. Since the beginning of the settlement in the mid of the 19th century, they come from Europe or have European origins, with a tendency to have a legal formation. Their careers vary in length. Many drifts occur. Their wealth is very different as they can combine ministerial jobs and very well paid personal activities

Texto completoDetailed geological study of the Salazie cirque, on Reunion Island, with additional information from the Mafate, Cilaos and Marsouins cirques, has resulted in a new interpretation of the volcano-structural evolution of the Piton des Neiges volcano. The construction of the shield volcano, from before 2. 10 to 0. 22 Ma began with the emission of voluminous lava flows of transitional character that progressively gave way to a silica oversaturated alkaline magma (basalt to quartz trachyte). A subsidence cauldron associated with a ring complex was formed in the central part of the volcano at the end of this stage. Between 0. 22 and 0. 15 Ma, extensive erosion of the shield volcano excavated the proto-Salazie and proto Marsouins cirques on the east flank of the volcano, coalescing with the cauldron. By 0. 18 Ma, a new eruptive cycle began the building of the stratovolcano with the eruption of silica undersaturated magma as ignimbrites and lava flows of basanitoid to trachytic composition. About 0. 07 Ma ago, a major extensional tectonic phase occurred, with the emission of silica oversaturated alkaline magma of hawaiitic to comenditic composition, from a shallow magma chamber. The most recent volcanic activity has been peripheral and scattered, with a variety of eruption mechanisms. In particular, two eruptive centers, on the edge of the graben, emitted lava flows and pyroclastic rocks until about 22,000 yrs B. P. . The study of secondary mineral parageneses has shown that, since about 0. 22 Ma, hydrothermal activity has always been closely controlled by tectonic structures. Each stage of cooling of the intrusions associated with the cauldron has been demonstrated, and study of the xenoliths in the ignimbritic breccias shows that concomitant fracturing has constituted a system of drains for hydrothermal fluids. The tectonic structures of the stratovolcano, in particular those related to the graben, have also acted as channelways for the circulation of medium and high temperature hydrothermal fluids. By comparison with active geothermal fields, the present existence of bicarbonate sodium chloride fluids and of acid sulphate fluids provides evidence of a geothermal aquifer

Texto completoFish assemblages around artificial reefs are dense and diversified; then, their study need to set up an accurate method involving simultaneously visual census and video recording. Habitat is a key factor in structuring and evolution of fish assemblages. Most indicators differentiate artificial reef (AR) from coral reef (CR) assemblages. The comparison between three types of AR shows that habitat complexity have an impact on the evolution of fish assemblages and interfere with external factors (recruitments, hurricanes. ) The role of AR on attraction or new production of exploited species depends on species behaviour. For sedentary species, biotopes are selected during the recruitment and survival rates seem to be linked with microhabitat availability. Demersal species, more mobile, move, between AR or between AR and CR, according to their biological cycle. Pelagic species shows a greater association to AR by day than by night

Texto completoThis study of the "cirque de Mafate" situated in the island of reunion (Indian Ocean) focuses on the complexity of the notion of ownership in a situation where the terms of the "contract by which the person legally bound" and the idea of "peaceful tenure" have not been clearly defined. Techniques of historical and legal anthropology have been used to answer the following question: "what can be handed down in a society where most people do not have direct access to real land-ownership?" The thesis demonstrates that the official regulations governing tan acquisition come up against certain practices whereby the inhabitants take possession of the environment and which they often justify by making reference to supernatural or religious forces. In addition, three elements are considered to be essential to the acquisition and transmission of knowledge: familiarity with the local flora, with one's kin, and use of riddles. As a social space, Mafate has been considered as a place of local history, as well as a center of what is visible and what is invisible

Being in shape, well being, pleasure are the principal motivations of the sporting practice. On this region particularly dedicated to leisure and tourism, depending on the modes of investments and available time, the spatial realisations and conditions are different according to the sporting leisure invested by women of the west micro region. Texto completoCoral reefs are very productive ecosystems. Soft-sediment plays generally a role in storing place, in transforming and in producing of matter, and therefore it could play a key role in coral reefs ecosystems. The goal of this study was to evaluate the role of soft-bottom compartment during the transfer of matter and energy in the reef of La Saline (Reunion Island). Three main lines of research were developed: the physicochemical characterisation of studied site, the metabolism of soft bottom in view to estimate the trophic production and its status and finally, the characterisation of biological component by the study of macrobentos and megabentos (i. E. Holothurians). A limited disturbance was detected by physicochemical data although locally enrichment of freshwater by nutrients (nitrates+nitrites+silicates) were measured (reef back hollow of Planch’Alizé and Grand Trou d’Eau). At the reef scale (9 stations and 2 seasons), the soft-sediment was found heterotrophic (net production = 31. 6, respiration R = 109. 6, gross production Pg = 77. 9 mmolC m-2 d-1 et Pg/R = 0. 7). Opposite to the two holothurians studied population Holothuria atra et H. Leucospilota, macrobenthos (> 1 mm) did not constitute a major group in the food web (134 taxa, with a mean of 32. 86 individuals per 0. 2 m-2 et 0. 059 gPS 0. 2m-2) compared to Echinoderm biomass that could reach 7. 92 gPS m-2. At the station scale, spatial heterogeneity of metabolism was in agreement with the physicochemical characteristics of environment reflecting the double influence of both ocean and continent (freshwater enrichment). The most productive and heterotrophic stations were located in the reef back hollow where the oceanic influence was the lowest. Finally, macrofauna was under hydrodynamic influence although holothurians are growing in the most productive area. The soft-bottom sediment played a key role in filtrating organic matter provided from the back reef. This mechanism was deeply influenced by the high hydrodynamism (narrow reef and low water level) which modulated the loss of mater and energy of the reef. These losses were however limited by the action of holothurians (high density ind m-2), which store organic matter such as biomass and enhanced probably local production via excretion and bioturbation. To conclude, at the ecosystem scale, soft-bottom was responsible of recycling, which was reinforced by holothurians that limited the loss of matter and energy due to hydrodynamism

Texto completoThe associative movement is a significant component in the evolution of Reunion Island’s political life between 1958 and the end of the 20th century. The analysis of the birth of associations and their actions reveals their growing role in local political life. It also points out rhythms that are specific to the life of associative movements. Hence it is of interest to place this associative life back in the framework of the political history in order to reveal the richness, the diversity and the effect of the associations’works. In the first decade, associations and their supporters undergo the violent political confrontations opposing the U. N. R. And the P. C. R. . Between 1969 and 1975, the relationships between the political world and associations change. A new generation, more consensual, turns away from clashes. As a result there is a greater respect for democratic practices in political life and the associations quickly expand their activities. The end of the 70’s is a turning point for the acknowledgment of Reunionese identity and history. Likewise, air transport is democratized and political life is renewed: associations are the driving force of this evolution. From 1984, as the regional power grows, so does the Cultural, Educative and Environmental Council, whose prerogatives broaden. The associative world, now collaborating with the new political institutions through the C. C. E. E. , launches the revival of education, cultural diversity, secularity, women s empowerment, and outreach to Indian Ocean partners

Texto completoTo describe the linguistic situation in Reunion Island, specialists have used for about thirty years now the definition of « diglossie » (diglossia) suggested by Charles Ferguson in 1999, namely the coexistence of two linguistic systems covering up the whole range of speech. This has become too restrictive however, as people from Reunion do not exclusively speak french or creole, but also mix up both languages in a wide range of intermediate variations (« interlect »). These specificities are rather similar to those stated by Lambert Félix Prudent about the situation in Martinique (1993). Here in Reunion, an official language, french, is taught at school with its own norm (« acrolect ») on the one hand; it often requires special attention within the family circle. On the other hand, creole is spoken in its various forms, without any set norm; its rules of functioning have rarely been under study so far. Taking into account the sociolinguistic context and the children's own abilities, I have tried to understand how their language acquisition works. Two questions to be answered have been : how do Reunion children learn French and creole, both separately and at the same time? And how do their family and school respective environments affect their language acquisition and bring their speech into shape? I have carried out my research, following Tomasello's approach (2003) « basée sur l'usage » (based on common usage), which establishes a close connection between linguistic knowledge and common events; and William Labov’s sociolinguistic study, which precisely describes the phonological, syntactical and discursive variations in speech productions among different social groups in the United States. I went in search of children’s talk and chose the locality of Cambuston, in the neighbourhood of Saint-Andre, the largest town in the eastern part of the island, to observe three children, Olivia, Cédric and Thierry, all aged five, in their school and family environments. For eighteen months, I recorded speech samples from their conversations with their relatives, in order to assess the influence of the family members on their own speech. I also took a keen interest in their school background and collected samples from each child talking with his/her teacher, the « ATSEM » (teacher's assistant at nursery school) and school friends, both in formal and informal situations. I finally had interviews with the adults belonging to each child's circle. The outcome of this study is that language acquisition in a multilingual environment is connected with several factors. According to the « Principe de Densité » (Principle of Density: Bloomfield, 1993 ; Labov, 2001; Tomasello, 2003; Mac Whinney, 2000, 2004), children tend to favour the most frequent speech variations used by their most frequent interlocutors. Direct inputs seem to be better integrated than indirect ones. It appears that pragmatic abilities play an important part. They help children to make out the distinct codes from their interlocutors speeches and the rules of language functioning, thus making its acquisition easier, all the more so if no normative pressure can be felt and approximate productions are regularly dealt with

Texto completoThis doctoral thesis has the aim of studying anoins, cations, organics acids and vitamin C contained in fruits and vegetables from the Reunion Island, Indian Ocean. Capillary electrophoresis is the method chosen for this study. Anions and organic acids are separeted and determined quantitavely with a sodium chromate solution and an electroosmotic flow modifier, inverse UV detection at 254 nm. Cations are separated and determined quantitatively with two electrolytes : the first one is composed of an amine with tropolone and crown ether, inverse UV detection at 185 nm and the second one is composed of lactic acid with 4-methyl-benzylamine and crown ether, inverse UV detection at 214 nm. Among vitamins, we are interesed in L-ascorbic acid. A very sensitive and easy method based on a tricine electrolyte is chosen. Direct UV detection is performed at 254 nm. Under these conditions, we studied more particulary four different maturity levels of Psidium Cattleianam Sabine (strawberry guyava). Another promising area is the one with alcaloids and flavonoids. We developed an electrolyte allowing us to separate and measure capsaicin and dihydrocapsaicin, active pungent compounds of hot chili peppers. We would like to continue our research on this field

Texto completoThe main objective of this doctoral thesis is the analysis of the role of a regional daily newspaper as a local social actor within a particular society: Reunion Island. More precisely, the present work is a monograph on le "Quotidien de la Réunion", in the context of a 21 year period (1976-1997). Within the general theoretical framework which has been adopted in order to make this case study, one is interested in the questions of the + building up; of events and news and of how newspapers deal with social movements and actions. In order to confirm the hypothesis that a local paper does fulfil a role of social actor facing social movements, we have applied the methods of discourse analysis to journalistic forms. This methodology may be regarded as essentially inspired by semiotics. We have analysed a corpus of articles and compared the accounts (by "Le Quotidien") of three movements : (I) the strong desire to save the + young ; "Quotidien" in 1977, (II) the support given to Télé Freedom in 1991 and (III) the demonstration of civil servants and students in 1997. The analysis of the argumentative and rhetorical processes which are specific features of the paper's editorial strategy permits us to ascertain its value system and its positions on the local scene, and also to emphasize certain contradictions and discrepancies between its editorial principles and its journalistic practices

Texto completoA previous bibliographic study was realized to review all the active principles for five biological activities : free radical scavenging, antioxidant and antifungal activities, inhibition of acetylcholinesterase and inhibition of viral fusion. In order to understand the reactivity of the active principle, causes (oxidative stress) and pathological effects of diseases (fungal infections, Alzheimer's disease and AIDS) related to these five biological activities, were explained (chapter 1, vol. 1). In the second chapter (vol. 1), 75 plants endemic and indigenous to Reunion Island were selected for a study of their biological activities. Two kinds of tests were realized : on the one hand, by thin layer chromatography for the free radical scavenging, antioxidant and antifungal properties and for the inhibition of acetylcholinesterase ; on the other hand by clusters for the anti-HIV activity. 73% of 274 polar and non-polar extracts reduced free radicals, 32% protected double bonds, 14% inhibit the growth of a fungi and 11% inhibit acetylcholinesterase (Alzheimer's disease). For HIV test, the toxic limit concentration and the medium effective concentration were determined. Three plants exhibited strong activities for one or two tests : Hypericum lanceolatum, Melicope borbonica and Croton mauritianus. In the same time, 18 plants (on 75) were investigated for determination of specific groups of molecules. All these studies were needed uses of analytical techniques as column chromatography, thin layer chromatography, high pressure liquid chromatography coupled with Ultraviolet or coupled with mass spectrometry, and nuclear magnetic resonance 1H 13C, one-dimensional and bi-dimensional. Texto completoThe goal of this study was to describe the representation of good pupil in small section and its mechanisms to show its link with pedagogic relation betwen teacher and child on communication and socialization. Following talks and questionnaires, the good pupil was defined like communicating, attentive and understanding the instructions. The observations carried out over two years, related to a comparison of interactions between two teachers and their pupils considered as goods or weaks. The results revealed that the status were similar between each year of nursery school the real good pupils profited quantitatively and qualitalively from better interventions in small section. They coincided with the ideal picture of schoolchild on average section the tendency was reversed : the weak pupils were the subjet of a detailed attention, but it was more negative. In conclusion, the small section would be addressed to already socialized and voluble children. Representation of the good pupil would rise a prediction emitted on the status at the beginning of schooling which would be confirmed it would be worked out on the school standards of programs. An observation, a selection and an interpretation of concret indices carrying out to a communicative and pro socializing selectivity

Texto completoSpatial and temporal characterisation of crop nutrient and water status is of great importance for input management and precision agriculture applications. Very high resolution images remotely-sensed in the spectral and thermal domains provide information about the spatial variation of bio-physical and chemical parameters that describe crop status. This thesis explores the use of a flexible and low-cost airborne multispectral acquisition system for the monitoring of sugarcane crop status in Reunion Island. A dual objective was pursued in this study, both technological and agricultural. The technological part concerned the development of a processing chain allowing the translation of the signal acquired by the airborne system into quantified values usable for spatial and temporal comparisons. The multispectral image acquisition system was made up of an ultra-light aircraft equipped with commercial digital cameras for acquisition in the blue, green, red, rededge and near infrared bands, and with a thermal infrared camera for surface temperature measurements. In order to convert the acquired signal into a quantified radiometric value, we developed methods for the correction of the environment-dependent (solar radiation, atmosphere) and camera-related (vignetting effects, image compression) radiomet ric distortions that affect the images. In the thermal infrared band, these methods were validated using in situ measurements of surface temperatures. In the other bands, we examined the impact of our radiomet ric corrections on the quality of the relationships between spectral vegetation indices and surface biophysical variables. In the agricultural part, we evaluated the potential of these multispectral measurements for the diagnosis of stress in sugarcane crops. Using in situ (empirical Crop Water Stress Index on fullyvegetated crops) and airborne (Water Deficit Index for partially-covered canopies) data, we showed the ability of indices based on surface temperature to characterize the water status of sugarcane. This involved the development of original calculation methods of these indices to allow their application in humid conditions and on crops affected by a combined stress (water * nitrogen). The nitrogen status of the crop was also successfully characterised using the ratio of the signals acquired in the Blue and Red bands. The results were in good agreement with field measurements (evapotranspiration, leaf colour, plant humidity), and open the possibility of future coupling of these vegetation status indicators with crop growth models, yielding valuable decision-making tools

Texto completoThis work looks into mechanisms and processes relating to the setting up of differentiel discriminating treatments dealing with HIV-Aids patients in hospitals. It is based on research carried out in three hospitals: two of them are located in the Reunion Island and the third one in Ile-de-France. With regard to the analysis of patients and hospital staff views, the study of their interaction and of hospital everyday life, it has been necessary to carry out a work of comparison and integration of the data obtained in the proper context. Thus we have been able to locate the setting up of a differential discriminating treatment at the meeting point of individual and mutual interaction, as well as structural, institutional, social, political, sanitary, medical and cultural reasons. Our study has pointed out the existence of differentiation relating to the care given in hospitals to Aids patients. The study highlights the fact that differentiation is the result of patients being put into categories rather than from being cared for individually. These categories are intrinsically linked to the idea of "risk"; they are born from epidemiology and ordinary social representations. They have been integrated by hospital staff, and have impacted on the global care given to patients. The study underlines the effects of both scientific and ideological knowledge inferred by the existence of categories. It shows that differential discriminating treatments exist in medical care

Texto completoReunion Island is located in the Indian ocean (21° 7 S, 52 °32 W) in the intertropical zone. Chemical and isotopic natural contents in rain waters, soil waters and groundwaters allow to study the water cycle upon the "Piton des Neighs" massif, which is an inactive strato-volcano. Chemical contents in rain show a marine influence pondered by effects of the relief. Isotopic abundances of 180 and 2H have similar distributions which are strongly disturbed during the tropical hurricanes. These natural variations determine an "input" function and can be found in soils and aquifers. The distribution of the abundances of 180 in soil water in the west part of the island allows to quantify the evaporation rate from the groundwater table at a steady state. At higher altitude infiltration occurs and has also been quantified. Groundwaters chemical analysis show that global salinity is related to the carbonate mineralization from biogenic C02. Cation contents can be related to the geochemistry of weathered lavas. Groundwater flow patterns do not necessary follow the general slope of the volcano. Chemical contents of ground water from costal aquifers not only show marine influence but also a carbonated and sulfated source of mineralization. Carbone and sulfate isotopic contents illustrate the influence of cane sugar cultivation. The mean transit times are probably less than 35 years. All developing managements to come should take into account that western costal aquifers are not protected from pollution

Texto completoThe thesis focused on the use of near infrared reflectance spectroscopy (NIRS) technique as a simple and rapid tool that helps farmers to use efficiently their feed resources for diary diet in La Réunion and in Vietnam. Two experiments were carried out on forage pastures and on farm to analyse zootechnical and environmental efficiences of cattle diet ;and to develop NIRS prediction equations for fiber and protein fractions, in particularly protein fractions to fibers (NDF-IP and ADF-IP) in forages for studying some variation factors of these components ; and to develop prediction models for milk yield, diet intake and quality using faecal NIRS. Results were present under publication form with 5 articles. The first one presented results on the typology of feed systems in two regions (La Réunion and Vietnam) that permitted to optimize the feed utilisation in term of both zoo technical and environmental efficiencies. The second article was studies some factor (species, climate and fertilization) affecting on fiber and protein fractions in forages. Results obtained contributed an important knowledge for farmers to improve feed utilisation. The 3rd and 4th ones showed the potential of faecal NIRS prediction models for milk yield and diet intake (DM, UFL, PDI). The 5th article concerning the comparison of different approaches for the development of faecal NIRS prediction models for diet quality presented the high predictive performance of LOCAL calibration compared with GLOBAL calibration. As a conclusion, developed NIRS prediction model permitted to help farmers make their optimal feeding management decision at various stages of the production cycle. Furthermore, the thesis suggested new orientation in ruminant research in term of improvement of fiber and protein utilisation in respecting all conditions for agricultural durable development

Texto completoModem outdoor leisure activities appeared simultaneously in Reunion Island and in Europe, in the XIXth century. A British model dictated the habits of a privileged social minority. The colony of Reunion, where informal sociability rules over practices, didn't really have clubs and societies. Written primary sources give a limited vision of the colony's outdoor leisures in which the women seem invisibles. Photographs reflect another reality, in wich genders appear. Images here are not only primary sources but, above all, a unique corpus, testimony of leisures' reality. History, which undeniably involves both men and women, was in colonial Reunion recorded by women too, photographing and practising. Outdoor practices, such as cycling, croquet and lawn tennis were first confined to gardens, then reached the town for river baths, extended to the sea-side and invested mountains and highlands spas for the major activities of colonial tourism, hiking, motorized excursions or mountain climbing

Texto completoThis thesis is based on documentary researches in the Departmental archives of Reunion (Newspapers and local administrative documents). It is the first study over a long length on the political life in Cilaos, last municipality born on the French island of Reunion in 1965. On this specific territory, that is the “circus” of Cilaos, the political actors have a key role for its development. In this site, where ramparts form a political arena, all the blows are allowed (fraud, unlikely alliance, favoritism). It is so an ideal laboratory for a study of the evolution of its local elections (and its morals) and of the socio-economic development by these actors. One of them is a play major of this game of powers, dubbed the "Lion", Irénée Accot. He works in the political emancipation of his municipality in front of his city-mother Saint-Louis. Upon his death, his ideological inheritance is so hard to carry for his potential dolphins. After a period of adjournment, one of them manages to reconnect with this glorious last, Paul Técher

Texto completoOn Reunion Island, cities have extended for 20 years. This extension promoted the urban sprawl. Now on this area, only 20 % of lands are building. So, a balanced development is actually promoted. But, can we base on the inhabitants' perception to manage to do this harmonious development? The district area seems to be relevant to deal with this subject. This scale represents the neighbourhood, a basic element of the town. By basing on a lot of soundings, we know the inhabitants expectations and the regulations which constrain the leaders. Four our territorial foresight exercise, we examine the trend of three relevant variables: population, economic activities, environment (buildings, agriculture and parks). This variables are controlled at the same time by the leaders and the users which picture them. To coclude, it is only by balancing these two visions that can achieve a more coherent developmet that give satisfaction to the developers as well as users

Texto completoStudying Crime in geography is analysing petty crimes and offences as a whole, on a given period and a given ~pace . In people' s consciousness, this phenomenon is similar to various violent events broadcast on medias like street fittigs destruction, thefts, aggressions. These violent acts have most of the time, no other consequences than the loss of things or grievous bodily harms. Now, Crime can not be reduced to a simple urban phenomenon that will be listed by the police as statistics, it is also a urban production factor. This studyunderlines its different consequences, visible and invisible on urban space : transformation of the terri tory, appearance of new ones, disruption of people's spatial awareness and how they use it accordingly. We also wondered about the realities of a city without criminality

Texto completoLocated at the benthos-pelagos interface, seagrass beds have many ecosystemic roles such as coastal protection or biodiversity. Historically, scientists and decision-makers at Reunion Island have been focusing on reef ecosystems. However, for several decades, monospecific (Syringodium isoetifolium) seagrass beds have been observed (3 hectares – 2013) within Ermitage / La Saline reef (West coast). The main objective of this study was to give the first data on seagrass ecology at Reunion Island. Therefore, a multi-disciplinary study was developed. First, seascape ecology of seagrasses is analyzed at decadal (since 1950) and seasonal scales (2013-2015). Physical settings (swell) and eutrophication were driving factors on the spatial dynamics of seagrass beds. Second, seagrass community metabolism and response to nutrient loads (nitrate and phosphate) show variations in metabolic budget (autotrophy to heterotrophy) and make seagrass beds a nutrient sink following the environmental conditions. Third, stable isotope analysis (δ13C and δ15N) identified sources of particulate matter entering the ecosystem and fueling food webs. The trophic roles of seagrass beds are assessed for echinoderm and herbivorous fish communities. This study highlighted a trophic link between seagrass and Holothuria leucospilota, and proved some species to be heavily dependent on seagrass ecosystem (Leptoscarus vaigiensis, Siganus sutor). Finally, interviews showed a lack of knowledge about this ecosystem despite crucial economic and ecologic roles. Considering their major functions, seagrass beds have to be considered in future management of the coastal marine systems at Reunion Island

Texto completoThe shield volcano of Piton de la Fournaise (La Reunion Island, Indian Ocean) is well-known to have two different types of lavas: Steady State Basalts, which are aphyric basalts with a bulk-rock composition very homogeneous (6 – 7 wt% MgO) and Oceanite (8 – 29% wt MgO), which are basalts enriched in macrocrysts of olivine (Ø> 0.5 mm, Fo85–83, 5 – 60% vol.). Until now, two different origins were proposed for these lavas: (1) differentiation of a mafic magma by crystallization and settling of olivine in a magma chamber vertically stratified, or (2) percolation by a differentiated magma of a mush composed of olivine and clinopyroxene crystals. A new investigation of the texture and composition of these lavas lead us to rehabilitate the magmatic differentiation model within the shallow magma chamber (located at 2.5 km depth below the summit). We show that olivine macrocrysts have a dendritic shape relevant of rapid growth at the roof, walls and floor of the chamber. The crystallization of olivine is joined at low temperature by clinopyroxene and plagioclase, yielding to the formation of crystals, liquid and bubbles suspensions against the cold margins of the chamber. Our results suggest also that the eruptive activity of the volcano is controlled by convective instabilities occurring periodically at the roof of the magma chamber, just after the collapse of a horizon of bubbles and / or the gravitational settling of solids

Texto completoBased on a long-term ethnography in La Chaumière district, this thesis wants to analyse the mahoran migration and the identity construction processes in Reunion island. The mahoran migrants become a challenge for local policies, it poses a question a what place for the mahoran migrants in the reunion society. Starting from a daily observation, these analysis of a delimitated territory – La Chaumière – makes it possible to understand the methods of migration, the adaptation strategies and the emergence of new territorialities of this population who comes from Mayotte Island and Comorian Union to Reunion Island from a departemental point of view. Moreover, this choice to study a group within a territorial framework delimited in a city where local policy tends to develop cultural and religious diversity allows to evaluate the various methods of migratory construction projects and the establishment of these French families from Mayotte Island. Coming from the lastest French department, the majority of its population is Muslim, with some bantu tradition and has massively emigrated in Reunion island since the 2000’s. These migration methods and these adaptation strategies are complex and challenge the cultural and cultual Reunion island cohabitation. A multiculturalism constantly questioned by the living place and unemployment problems, the increase of racist conflicts and speeches, and by the reflection of the reunion identity
