Resumen
The inverse minimum cut problem is one of the classical inverse optimization researches. In this paper, the inverse minimum cut with a lower and upper bounds problem is considered. The problem is to change both, the lower and upper bounds on arcs so that a given feasible cut becomes a minimum cut in the modified network and the distance between the initial vector of bounds and the modified one is minimized. A strongly polynomial algorithm to solve the problem under l1 norm is developed.

Resumen
A conventional low-beam projector headlight design for a motorcycle conventionally uses a combination of an elliptical reflector and a baffle plate. A clear cut-off line is formed by the baffle plate. Since only one freeform surface is used, the dispersion phenomena will occur with a white LED light source because the blue and yellow light is mixed unevenly. This leads to a high colour temperature. Another method uses a micro-lens array to solve the colour temperature problems. Without using the baffle plate, it is difficult to form a clear cut-off line. What’s more, the freeform surface of the lens is complex and difficult to fabricate. We propose a combined lens, which uses a double freeform surface lens combined with a single freeform surface lens. In the combined lens, the double freeform surface lens is designed to solve the colour temperature drift and the single freeform surface lens is designed to solve the problem of the cut-off line. The simulation results can meet the ECE Regulation R113 revision 2(Class B) of the motorcycle low-beam.

Resumen
In this paper, we deal with the Capacitated Lot Sizing and Scheduling Problem with sequencedependent setup times and costs - CLSD model. More specifically, we propose a simple reformulation for the CLSD model that enables us to define a new branching rule to be used in Branch-and-Bound (or Branch-and-Cut) algorithms to solve this NP-hard problem. Our branching rule can be easily implemented in commercial solvers. Computational tests performed in 240 test instances from the literature show that our approach can significantly reduce the running time to solve this problem using a Branch-and-Cut algorithm of a commercial MIP solver. Therefore, our approach can also improve the performance of other approaches that need to solve partial sub problems of the CLSD model in each iteration, such as Lagrangian approaches and heuristics based on the mathematical formulation of the problem.

End-of-Life (EOL) products disassembly in remanufacturing has received extensive attention in recent years owing to their advantages in saving non-renewable resources, protecting the environment and promoting economic growth. In the existing literature, 1) most of stochastic disassembly line balancing problems assume that the probability distributions of uncertain parameters are known; 2) majority of disassembly line balancing problems focus on single product; 3) few works study the disassembly line balancing related reverse supply chain (RSC) design problems. In reality, multiple EOL products disassembly related RSC exist in remanufacturing industries, such as automobile, mobile phone, etc. To bring these research gaps, three new disassembly line balancing related problems are investigated in this thesis.Firstly, a single product disassembly line balancing problem (DLBP) with partial information of task processing times is studied, where only the mean, lower and upper bounds of task processing times are known. The objective is to minimize the disassembly cost. For the studied problem, a joint chance-constrained model is proposed. Then, a new distribution-free formulation and a second-order cone program approximation-based formulation are constructed based on problem properties. Experimental results on 7 benchmark instances and 81 randomly generated instances show the effectiveness and efficiency of the proposed approach.Secondly, a new stochastic multi-product DLBP with uncertain task processing time is addressed, where only the mean, standard deviation and upper bound of task times are available. The objective is to minimize the disassembly cost. For the problem, a joint chance-constrained model is formulated. Then, based on problem analysis, the joint chance-constrained model is approximately transformed into a distribution-free model. Subsequently, several valid inequalities and an exact lifted cut-and-solve method are designed to efficiently solve the problem. Experiments results on an illustrative example and 490 randomly generated instances demonstrate the good performances of the proposed model, valid inequalities and solution method. Finally, a novel multi-product disassembly line balancing related RSC design problem is investigated, where EOL products supply, components demand and task processing times are assumed to be uncertain. The objectives are to maximize the expected profit and minimize carbon dioxide emissions, simultaneously. For the problem, a bi-objective nonlinear two-stage stochastic programming model is formulated and approximately transformed to a linear distribution-free model based on problem properties. Then, an exact epsilon-constrained based method is proposed, in which an improved Benders decomposition is designed to solve the transformed single objective problems. Numerical experiments including one case study and 200 randomly generated instances are conducted to evaluate the performance of proposed methods. Moreover, sensitivity analysis is made to draw managerial insights

Resumen
Although the International Olympic Committee (IOC) sought to differentiate women from men, the methods employed repeatedly illustrated the difficulty in determining the exact composition of womanhood. This chapter argues that rather than showing a clear-cut biological divide, the policy highlighted a range of chromosomal varieties and DNA diversity. The IOC disregarded these well-documented variations and continued testing. Officials never discovered a man posing as a woman; however, several female athletes with biological differences were barred from competition. Eventually, protests by medical authorities and athletes in the 1980s encouraged the IOC to abandon all gender verification practices. For the 1992 Albertville Winter and Barcelona Summer Olympics, the IOC replaced the chromatin exam with PCR testing. Because many people believed that substituting one scientific method with another did not solve the practical nor ethical problems of verification, those who were opposed to laboratory testing continued to fight for the IOC to terminate the practice.

Resumen
Contributing to the literature on austerity, this book identifies and compares episodes of ‘fiscal squeeze’ (that is, substantial efforts to cut public spending and/or raise taxes) in the UK over a century from 1900 to 2015. It looks at how different the politics of fiscal squeeze and austerity is today from what it was a century ago, ways in which fiscal squeeze can reshape the state, leading to new ways of organizing government or providing services, and at how political credit and blame play out in the aftermath of fiscal squeeze. The analysis is both quantitative and qualitative, starting with reported financial outcomes and then looking at the political choices and processes that lie behind those outcomes to identify patterns and puzzles that have not been recognized or explained adequately so far in received theory. Thus the book identifies a long-term shift from deep but short-lived episodes of spending restraint or tax increases in the earlier part of the century towards episodes in which the pain is spread out over a longer period during the latter part of the century. It also identifies a marked reduction of revenue-led squeezes in the last part of the century. Analysing fiscal squeeze both in terms of reported outcomes and a qualitative analysis of loss imposition, political cost to incumbents and state, helps to solve a puzzle in the literature about the electoral effects of austerity and apparently erratic voter ‘punishment’ of governments that impose austerity policies.

Resumen
AbstractThe DataBio’s agriculture pilots were carried out through a multi-actor whole-farm management approach using information technology, satellite positioning and remote sensing data as well as Internet of Things technology. The goal was to optimize the returns on inputs while reducing environmental impacts and streamlining the CAP monitoring. Novel knowledge was delivered for a more sustainable agriculture in line with the FAO call to achieve global food security and eliminate malnutrition for the more than nine billion people by 2050. The findings from the pilots shed light on the potential of digital agriculture to solve Europe’s concern of the declining workforce in the farming industry as the implemented technologies would help run farms with less workforce and manual labor. The pilot applications of big data technologies included autonomous machinery, mapping of yield, variable rate of applying agricultural inputs, input optimization, crop performance and in-season yields prediction as well as the genomic prediction and selection method allowing to cut cost and duration of cultivar development. The pilots showed their potential to transform agriculture, and the improved predictive analytics is expected to play a fundamental role in the production environment. As AI models are retrained with more data, the decision support systems become more accurate and serve the farmer better, leading to faster adoption. Adoption is further stimulated by cooperation between farmers to share investment costs and technological platforms allowing farmers to benchmark among themselves and across cropping season.

Resumen
AbstractIn China, some defendants will, upon becoming aware of being sued, take various methods to transfer and/or hide their property or the subject matter in dispute. In such circumstances, even if the plaintiff wins the case, it may still find it difficult to be actually compensated. In order to solve this problem, the plaintiff can apply to the Chinese court for property preservation. Chinese courts will take such preservation measures as sequestering, seizing and/or freezing according to the type of property to be preserved, which are the same as those taken by the courts during the enforcement procedure. In order to avoid “winning the case but still losing money”, it’d be better for the plaintiff to consider applying for property preservation and collect property clues of the defendant before case filing. Act preservation is a temporary remedy to avoid the parties from suffering “irreparable damage” during the civil proceedings. The act preservation is highly similar to the “interlocutory injunction” in common law countries and the “provisional injunction” in civil law countries such as Germany and Japan. Chinese courts, when examining the application for act preservation, need to balance the interests between the parties and the public. In recent years, the number of cases, especially those related to intellectual property and unfair competition, subject to the act preservation measures has been on the rise. If the application for act preservation is erroneous, the applicant shall be liable for compensation to the respondent. In intellectual property and unfair competition cases, there are clear-cut standards for determining whether an application for act preservation is erroneous or not.

Resumen
Abstract An algorithm for solving linear programming problems can be used as a subroutine in methods for more complicated problems. Such methods usually involve solving a seque:1ce of related linear programming problems, where the solution to one linear program is close to the solution to the next, that is, it provides a warm start for the next linear program. The branch and cut method for solving integer programming problems is of this form: linear programming relaxations are solved unti eventually the integer programming problem has been solved. Within the last ten years, interior point methods have become accepted as powerful tools for solving linear programming problems. It appears that interior point methods may well solve large linear programs substantially faster than the simplex method. A natural question, therefore, is whether interior point methods can be successfully used to solve integer programming problems. This requires the ability to exploit a warm start.

Abstract It is often claimed that J. S. Bach used French ornamentation signs to the virtual exclusion of all others, and that for this reason all his embellishments ought to be executed in the French manner. This is a gross simplification of a rather complicated state of affairs. If conscientious performers were able to solve all problems of embellishment with the help of a few clear-cut instructions a la franfaise, no one would be happier than those of us who perform the music of Bach.

Resumen
In non-technical language, the chapter explains why economists favor putting a price on pollution as the least expensive way to cut pollution to its socially optimal level. Using a pollution example from nineteenth-century British law made famous by the Chicago economist Ronald Coase, the chapter lays out the principles for good environmental policy and shows how a carbon tax fits with those principles. It introduces Arthur C. Pigou, an early twentieth-century economist who saw that a tax on pollution could use the power of the market to solve the pollution problem. It then demonstrates that carbon taxes in British Columbia and Sweden have not harmed their economies but have helped reduce carbon pollution.

Resumen
This article deals with the direct recycling of EN AW 2011 aluminum alloy chips, which are formed by turning, into semifinished products using forward hot extrusion process. Direct recycling without re-melting is usually called solid-state recycling. The main aim of this article is to investigate the influence of depth of cut (size of chips) in the aluminum alloy turning process, extrusion temperature, and compaction force on mechanical properties, surface roughness, and extrusion force of recycled samples. An original approach to solve this problem is mathematical modelling of the process using the design of experiments. The influence of main research factors on yield strength (Rp0,2), hardness (HV), extrusion force (F), and surface roughness (Ra) of recycled samples has been studied. The study has shown that the most influential factor on mechanical properties, surface roughness, and extrusion force was extrusion temperature.

As a result, there is now a need to fight back against credit card fraud in the world today. ’Credit card fraud is when dirty money is cleaned up, so the source of the funds can’t be found.’ Financial transactions happen all over the world every day, so it’s hard to find credit card fraud /back in the global market. In the same way that (Anti-credit card fraud Suite) was introduced earlier, it can only be used for one transaction at a time, and not for other bank account transactions. To solve problems, we propose a machine learning method called ”Structural Similarity.” This method uses ”Structural Similarity” 2to look for common attributes and behaviour in bank account transactions. This is hard to do with a large dataset, so we came up with ways to cut down the data and look for pairs of transactions with other bank accounts that have similar attributes and behaviour.

Lack of awareness on preservation tools and applications is a big issue today. To solve it European Commission has initiated research project, Presto4U that aimed to enable semi-automatic matching of preservation tools with audio-visual needs. To express the audio-visual needs formally it has mapped a knowledge schema. The knowledge schema was first cut and needed evaluation in terms of its ability to represent the Needs of different communities of practice, classes, their association and ability to represent requirements of Audio-visual community through properties of its classes. This evaluative study is conducted through Qualitative research approach using Interview and Questionnaire. Open Archival Information System reference model is used as theoretical framework. Fourteen members from Europe of three communities of practice have provided their needs for analysis. Data was analysed through six stages. The study found that knowledge schema is useful to express the needs of communities of practice but collected data should easily fit into the structure of knowledge schema.

In this dynamic world, filled with opportunities and cut-throat competition, skill sets are necessary to find a job and kick-start the graduate's career. Students with different skill sets can solve problems by looking at them from different angles, which is a key factor in obtaining jobs. The researchers have identified the four disciplines—commerce and managemet, computer science, psychology and engineering—as the key domains in the 21st century for better employability. From the literature, researchers have identified the skills and their application in the proposed domain and the ways to upskill the identified skills. The study's implications are a ready reckoner for stakeholders—educators, hiring organizations, students, policymakers, researchers, government, and institutions—for better industry-academic collaboration and understanding of the skill set required for job orientation.

Resumen
There are currently two broad strategies for optimal Multi-agent Pathfinding (MAPF): (1) search-based methods, which model and solve MAPF directly, and (2) compilation-based solvers, which reduce MAPF to instances of well-known combinatorial problems, and thus, can benefit from advances in solver techniques. In this work, we present an optimal algorithm, BCP, that hybridizes both approaches using Branch-and-Cut-and-Price, a decomposition framework developed for mathematical optimization. We formalize BCP and compare it empirically against CBSH and CBSH-RM, two leading search-based solvers. Conclusive results on standard benchmarks indicate that its performance exceeds the state-of-the-art: solving more instances on smaller grids and scaling reliably to 100 or more agents on larger game maps.

Resumen
This paper presents a hybrid parallelizable algorithm for the computer-aided modeling of the dynamic behavior of multibody open tree systems. The method is based on cutting certain system interbody joints at branched bodies so that a system of largely independent multibody subchains is formed. These subchains interact with one another through associated unknown constraint forces fc at the cut joints. The increased parallelism is obtainable through cutting joints and the explicit determination of associated constraint forces combined with a sequential O(n) procedure. Consequently, the sequential O(n) procedure is carried out within each subchain to form and solve the equations of motion, while parallel strategies are performed between the subchains to form and solve constraint equations concurrently. Two extreme cutting procedures are further discussed to conduct a comparison of computational efficiency. One case is to cut the joints at branched bodies so that the longest lengths of subchains are obtained and the other is to cut the joints at branched bodies so that the shortest lengths of subchains are formed. The algorithm can easily accommodate the available number of processors while maintaining high efficiency. The algorithm will also be implemented on both parallel homogeneous computing (PHC) systems and network-distributed heterogeneous computing (DHC) environment. The implementation of the algorithm in a DHC environment will permit engineers and researchers to conduct distributed simulation of dynamic behaviors of large and complex multibody systems on ubiquitous network-distributed PC workstations in their workplace. In short, the exploration of the parallelizable algorithm for a multibody tree system will provide a deep understanding of the relationship between computational load balancing and optimal joint locations to be cut. The computational efficiency of the algorithm can be increased further.

Resumen
Abstract Enhanced recovery of residual deposits from the mature fields with steadily increasing water cut is considered one of the most important tasks in oil field development. This is particularly relevant for terrigenous deposits of minor oil fields under the third and fourth stages of development, when the water cut may grow but fail to reach the expected stabilization asymptote, thereby bringing the issue of economic feasibility of further operation into discussion. Efforts to solve these problems through the conventional techniques of cyclic injection (huff ‘n’ puff process), inflow/conformance control, filtration flow modification, and polymer flooding are generally unsuccessful. The paper reviews information on methods of steadying oil production, reducing water cut and preventing its growth, as well as on a set of measures to improve the efficiency of developing the Zarechnoye field in the Republic of Tatarstan.

Resumen
Z-cut LiNbO3 waveguide devices are essential in high-speed optical fiber communication and photonic switching systems. To put them to practical use, they must be useable in wide temperature range. However, these devices usually have a large temperature dependency due to the thermally-induced pyroelectric charge on the z-cut surface. Electrodes on the highly-resistive SiO2 buffer layer makes charge distribution ununiform and results in an undesirable electric field on waveguides as we reported previously(1). Drive point voltage shifts with temperature and it degrades crosstalk. Another problem is the connection between fibers and waveguides. The conventional method using Si V-groove array provides thermally stable connection(2), but, there is often a large excess loss because of the imperfect matching between the waveguide and silicon end faces. The purpose of our research is to overcome these problems and make a thermally stable z-cut Ti:LiNbO3 high-speed switch with low loss. To solve the first problem, we formed a Si layer with appropriate resistivity between the SiO2 buffer layer and the electrodes to keep the surface-charge distribution uniform(1). We also devised a new method for attaching fibers to waveguides to make stable joints with low loss. We fabricated a low-loss, thermally stable 1X4 optical switch on z-cut LiNbO3 and tested it in a 512-Mbps optical time division switching system(3).

Resumen
The use of advanced methods and technologies of threshing and separation allows you to predict and minimize losses. The results of reliability optimization of the cross-section profile of the transporting device and its influence on threshing and separation have not yet been studied. To solve this problem, the article modeled a mathematical numerical model that allows you to describe the function of the cut profile line in a General way. The mathematical model is solved using experimental data.

Resumen
Piecewise linear systems identification method is outlined in this article. Wavelets Analysis principles are widely used in this paper. Firstly, wavelets provide a very efficient mean to construct filters that are able to cut known degree polynomial terms in experimental signal. Secondly, wavelets are introduced to detect and to localize singularities in experimental signals that are characteristic of phase changes in a piecewise linear system. Eventually, we present a method to solve inverse problem that enables extracting instantaneous parameters from experimental data of physical studied system.

Resumen
To enhance the implementation of micro milling, it is necessary to clearly understand the dynamic characteristics of micro milling so that proper machining parameters can be used to meet the requirements of application. By taking the effect of minimum chip thickness and rake angle into account, a new cutting force model of micro-milling which is function the instantaneous cutting area and machining coefficients was developed. According to the instantaneous rotation trajectory of cutting edge, the cutting area projected to xy-plane was determined by rectangular integral method, and used to solve the instantaneous cutting area. After the machining coefficients were solved, the cutting force of micro-milling for different radial depths of cut and different axial depths of cut can be predicted. The results of micro-milling experimental have shown that the force model can predict the cutting force accurately by which the optimal cutting parameters can be selected for micro-milling application.

Resumen
Robotic and biomimetic: science and technical fields are increasingly interdisciplinarity. Inspired by nature, such as imitation or suggestion, many inventions are conceived, developed and materialized. There is a lot of knowledge trough observation, studies on principles, models and process from nature approach. Followed by the proper connections to the research subject, or problems to face, seems to be adequate to borrow from nature some of those tips -already developed and tested-, as a kind of short cut to help us materialize solutions and solve problems. In this paper, design and mechanical development of three robots developed from nature observations are described. The robots G.I.R.I.N.O. and Chico Mendes and Pipe support device.

Resumen
Cracking tests for evaluating the susceptibility of the heat affected zone (HAZ) to hydrogen cracking during welding often give ambiguous results because cracks occur in the weld metal rather than the HAZ. To solve this problem, a simple bend test was developed in which a Charpy V-notch was cut in the HAZ after welding the specimen thus ensuring cracks occurred in the desired location when the specimen was subsequently loaded in three-point bending. The test was shown to effectively respond to changes in hydrogen content and base metal composition. The test provides a quantitative measure of susceptibility and it was demonstrated that this could be used to predict crackling behavior in more complex welds.
