Texto completoThe finding that the final product in the health-care therapeutic process, namely the improvement of citizens' health, can not only be defined in purely economic terms and in a context where the monetary aspects are the pivot around which move all the political strategies, social and economic national and European, it is the primary cause of this research project. The Health Service is, in fact, a locus where they overlap the needs of various categories of stakeholders (politicians, suppliers, users and workers) who, although dropped in an environment that has business features inseparable from financial ratings, were not exhausted only in the economic and monetary dimensions. The final value of the output processes of a company Health, succinctly summed up in the concept of "meeting the health needs of the population" recognizes, among the intrinsic components of the production process, mandatory stress ethical which require compliance with guarantees of fairness , legitimacy and impartiality, essential in the construction of the final product. This research focuses, therefore, its attention on the process of value creation in the Company Health, from bibliographical suggestions regarding the main economic and organizational variables, to come to investigate the matches resulting from intangible assets.

Texto completoNel contesto economico attuale, globale ed altamente competitivo, l’evoluzione aziendale viene sempre più spesso perseguita attraverso processi di crescita esterna, che si traducono in operazioni di acquisizione e fusione. Al fine di ottimizzare la gestione aziendale anche il settore finanziario nell’Unione Europea, soprattutto negli ultimi anni, sembra aver adottato la soluzione della crescita esterna. Il presente lavoro si pone l’obiettivo di: 1. Valutare empiricamente mediante la metodologia dell’ ”event study” se le M&A compiute da istituzioni finanziarie dell’Unione Europea (UE 25) hanno creato o distrutto valore azionario. 2. Comprendere la formazione dei risultati ottenuti dal modello event study attraverso un modello logit multinomiale, con l’analisi di differenti variabili indipendenti. La metodologia event study analizza i benefici della M&A attraverso una stima della reazione del prezzo di mercato delle società coinvolte effettuata nel momento in cui viene annunciata la fusione. Gli studiosi che utilizzano questo approccio argomentano che, rispetto alle metodologie che si basano sui dati contabili, gli studi basati sulle reazioni del mercato sfruttano dati che meglio esplicitano i reali effetti economici della data di annuncio della transazione. Tale metodo di analisi è l’unico che permette in maniera diretta di determinare l’impatto dell’operazione di M&A sulla creazione o distruzione del valore per gli azionisti della società coinvolta. Molti studi esaminano l’abnormal return della società acquirente e della target separatamente, mentre altri analizzano il cambiamento del valore degli azionisti. In questi casi la somma dei valori degli abnormal return di acquirente e acquisita deve essere ponderata per essere considerata una misura appropriata della variazione di valore dello stock azionario conseguente all’attività di M&A. Questa misura quantifica la creazione di valore che il mercato ritiene che verrà prodotta dall’operazione di fusione. E’ stato poi applicato il modello logit multinomiale, per descrivere il numero di scenari discreti nel modello, e determinare le covariate che devono essere specificate. Nel nostro modello, una banca può sperimentare due scenari (acquirente o target), con la probabilità di essere in uno scenario spiegato da un vettore di covariate. Definiti i due differenti campioni (campione delle banche bidder e campione delle target) l’analisi è stata svolta in modo da differenziare le posizioni che avevano creato valore (CAR positivo) da quelle che l’avevano distrutto (CAR negativo), in una logica di indagine “value based”.

Work Integration issue is nowadays a relevant theme that considers social matters together with human rights’ respect, equality, freedom and self-determination. There is the lack of a complete evaluation scheme that could give a whole perspective of WISEs' results. For them there are features and management ties that require methods wider than the economic ones disclosed in the financial report, in order to measure the created value for the Public Administration and community. The PhD work focuses on the creation of a possible evaluation model to apply to WISE. A WISEs’ sample has been selected to understand which elements were difficult to measure and, after the definition of the model it has been directly tested. Local WISEs and institutions have been actively involved in the executions. The main result is the participative creation process of an instrument that evaluates WISEs’ value for the community, through the analysis of their external effect on public budget.

Texto completoSocial changing and innovations that characterized the last century, mainly caused by the globalization processes, led to important changes in the consumption paths, the most of them driven by the increased awareness of the consumers. This is why the role of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) is getting more important for the brand management policies of the Large Scale Retail (LSR). LSR is nowadays encouraged to provide products that achieve higher safety and quality standards, in order to meet the new forms of demand. In this paper we analyze the case of the biological line ViviVerde by Coop, a private label line which reached good market shares since its introduction. The analysis of elasticity of the demand curve of some ViviVerde food products, for the period from January 2010 to May 2012, shows the presence of several positive and greater than values: this means that the price does not prevent the sales of those products. Those results are relevant especially in this period of deep economic crisis, which has affected even food consumption. The changes and social innovations that have characterized the last century have generated significant changes in the structure of consumption, in particular related to aincreased consumer's behaviour.It's becoming more important,within the policies of brand management, the role of Corporate Social Responsability,which pushes the mass retailers to offer products with the highest quality standards and safety. The case analyzed is that of the organic line ViviVerde Coop, whose offer of organic products to private label has had much impact positive on the market. The analysis of the elasticity of the demand curve of some of these products in the period January 2010-May 2012 reveals values positive and greater than 1. This means that price has had a negative impacts on sales of the product

The first paper of the thesis analyzes the theme of value creation in collaborations between businesses and non-profit organizations from the point of view of literature, in particular, starting from an analysis of the literature related to the creation of value in marketing, and considering the issue of relations inter organizational and approach of ''living enterprise", the rest of the paper defines the creation of value, always according to the references in the literature, of these collaborations. The second paper presents, through a quantitative analysis conducted on a sample of businesses and non-profit organizations that carry out cooperation between them, a number of hypothesis that come to define the value created by this type of cooperation and taking into account some constructs like inter organizational trust, interpersonal trust, inter organizational communication, the level of cooperation, the creation of value and the alliance of brands. The third paper presents four case studies that refer to three clusters in which the database, built for the second paper, has been split. Starting from the definition of the characteristics of an innovative network, the cases have been investigated in order to assess the impact of collaboration on the ground, in a logic of local marketing and value creation for the area in which they operate.

Texto completoAim – The work aims to analyse the National Heath Care Service (NHCS) in order to trace pathways and evolutions that have produced its actual configuration. It highlights limitations of traditional managerial models in health care in order to define new approaches built on the tradition but oriented to a new vision of health service. The aim is to point out some relevant variable for the survival of National Heath Care Service that, in the last years, have been neglected. The purpose is to propose possible actions to focus the attention on the patient in the perspective of relational approach and value co-creation. In order to achieve this aim, an empirical investigation on the satisfaction produced by Integrated Home Care (IHC) in the Salerno province is proposed. Methodology – The work offers an analysis of the National Heath Care Service’ evolution and of the relationship among providers and users in health context. The increasing dissatisfaction in the health context is analysed through a Systematic Literature Review focused on the topics of knowledge management, information asymmetry and cognitive distance. Evidences of literature are analysed using a conceptual framework based on the Viable Systems Approach and on the Service Dominant Logic. Proposed hypothesis are verified trough an empirical investigation on the satisfaction produced by Integrated Home Care in the Salerno province. Specifically, the pathway of research is based on the collection and elaboration of direct data, through a survey, and indirect data, extracted from medical records of patients and analysed with a structural equation model. The investigation aims to measure the satisfaction of patients produced by IHC in the Salerno province and its evolution along the time in order to verify the validity of the hypothesis on which the work is based. Findings – The work offers an interpretation of National Heath Care Service based on the more recent indications of managerial studies. The adoption of a quali-quantitative pathway of research produces some reflections useful to improve the fitting of NHCS to the emerging context’s needs. Empirical evidences show the relevance of relational approach and value co-creation to face the emerging challenges in the health context. Approccio relazionale e co-creazione di valore in sanità: il caso dell’Assistenza Domiciliare Integrata IV Research limitation – Empirical evidences should be further checked with reference to different pathways of National Heath Care Service and observing a more extensive geographical area. Results, therefore, should be considered only the first step of a research pathways oriented to define the future evolution of NHCS. Research and Managerial implication – The study provides a new interpretative perspective of National Heath Care Service’s dynamics. Building on the existent literature and on the adopted conceptual framework, it traces some guidelines to improve efficiency, effectiveness and sustainability in the management of NHCS acting on the Relational Approach and on the value co-creation logic. Originality – The analysis of dissatisfaction in the health context as result of information asymmetry and cognitive distance among provider and user is an advancement of the existent national and international contributions on the topic. The definition of an interpretative model oriented to explain the relationships among providers and users in order to trace possible actions to improve the satisfaction in the health context opens to new possible research pathways. In the end, the empirical investigation on the satisfaction produced by Integrated Home Care represents the first step of an ambitious long pathway of research to which it is linked the evolution of NHCS. In particular, notwithstanding the characteristics of the Italian contest (weak level of corporate governance, high ownership concentration, pyramidal structures and the presence of non-voting shares), I investigate the relation between the M&A activity performance for all the shareholders and the ownership structure of the bidders. I consider a sample of 319 M&A operations made by Italian bidders from 1999 until 2006. I use the standard event study approach to estimate the performance which has been investigated in relation to ownership information of the bidder.

Therefore, this thesis addresses the issues related to the implementation of the value-based healthcare theory, where “value” is the clinical outcome achieved per resources used. The scope of the thesis is to deduce, through three different viewpoints of analysis, the conditions and drivers that are leading healthcare organizations to enhance their healthcare delivery system in order to create more value for patients. In particular, the thesis stresses the perspective of healthcare operations highlighting how providers tend to redesign healthcare processes to better meet patients’ needs. The thesis touches on different perspectives with regard to the value-based theoretical model. The first two chapters analyze value creation and the conditions of its implementation, looking at these phenomena from the provider’s point of view. In contrast, the last chapter aims to analyze this issue from the patient’s perspective. The thesis makes suggestions on how healthcare organizations should undertake operational changes and deals with value-based healthcare implementation through three different fronts: clinical pathways, operational efficiency, patient’s perspective.

If their claims are promising, they still face much criticism concerning their relevance and effectiveness. The dissertation investigates how organizations which have endorsed the idea of shared value creation are efficient, or not, at yielding benefits for themselves and their host communities. It uses the case study methodology to explore four SMEs and two multinational companies in Ghana. The research builds on a multidisciplinary approach to organizational behavior and strategy to dig to ground the pitfalls of strategic action in Ghana, an epitome of the recent Africa Rising narrative. It scrutinizes the way local socioeconomic mores affect strategic choices and organizational performance. The major contribution of the thesis is to introduce a revisited version of Crozier and Friedberg’s concrete system of action for efficiently embedded strategies of shared value and social impact creation. With this, the work reveals that local socioeconomic mores are dynamic resilience mechanisms of control, collusion, bargaining, and/or resistance, which strategists must take account of in designing sustainable strategies, especially in Sub-Saharan Africa.

Texto completoConsidering the various problems that are affecting the healthcare sector in recent years, the aim of this thesis is to investigate patient involvement in healthcare management by highlighting the importance of his participation for the service improvement. To this end, we analyze three main dimensions belonging to the patient's sphere, particularly, participation in the co-creation process of "health value", patient empowerment and patient satisfaction, proposing a model of investigation aimed at identifying the relations between the variables considered. Value co-creation is a paradigm developed in marketing discipline over the last decade and that can be defined as a process by which businesses co-create value during interactions with their customers through the integration of resources and the application of competences. Customers thus become an active part of the offer generation process. The resources and competences that patient can applied in these processes are positively influenced by his level of empowerment, ie the set of knowledge and skills that patient possesses in managing his health condition. The analysis in this work shows that both variables are positively related to patient satisfaction which is often seen as a perceived service quality measure. The results show that patient does not have the only role to assess the quality in terms of satisfaction, but he is also an active part in its creation. Thus, the tools for the quality evaluation should not only investigate the health organization's ability to provide quality of services, but also the patient's role in achieving the same. Moreover, being the satisfaction a subjective variable, in its assessment it is essential to consider the resources and competences that patient possesses in relation to his own health and that can affect his quality perceptions. In terms of management, the results should encourage policy makers to adopt policies aimed at encouraging the active participation of citizens in healthcare. This implies an economic and cultural effort as build and promote the effective integration means investing time and capital (including human) in the re-education of both health professionals and patients in a logic of mutual and sustainable benefit. Texto completoThe project “Engineering Economics and Financial Modeling: accounting-and-finance engineering system for the study of industrial projects” is aimed at exploring the intricate relationships between the economic and financial figures that characterize industrial projects and at studying the creation of mathematical models. The abstract models are meant, on one hand, to organize data and knowledge and, on the other hand, to further investigate through simulations and experiments. The tools used in this path are i) financial modeling and its implementation in spreadsheets, ii) sensitivity analysis, mainly with the “Finite Change Sensitivity Indices (FCSI)” methodology (Borgonovo 2010), iii) comparison of scenarios, with design and implementation of algorithms that feed mathematical models, iv) Split-Screen Matrix (Magni 2020), used to automate the model calculation engine, and v) linear programming, derived from the disciplines of operations research. Thanks to these tools, the research activity has made it possible to achieve several results in the fields of Engineering Economics, Finance and Accounting, including i) the development of new evaluation models, ii) the identification of new criteria for investment decisions, iii) the clarification of how operational estimates can affect financial decisions and iv) the ex-post decomposition of the decisions' effects, even in the different life periods of a project. The main application fields explored are the creation of value in photovoltaic systems (results exposed discussed in the conferences “37th EU PVSEC – European PV Solar Energy Conference, September 7-11, 2020” and “MIC2020 – 20th Management International Conference, November 12-15, 2020” and in an article published by the “International Journal of Production Economics”), the decomposition of added value in financial investments (results discussed in an article submitted to “European Journal of Operational Research”, under review), the use of the Split-Screen Matrix in financial modeling (with a methodology, aimed at defining an algorithmic system applicable in spreadsheets, which is being introduced in the companies of the GRAF Group) and economic optimization in a project to replace water meters (first results exposed at the “EURO2021 – 31st European Conference on Operational Research, July 11-14, 2021”). This doctoral thesis is structured as a collection of academic papers co-authored during the doctoral course.

Texto completoLa questione su come valorizzare il patrimonio immobiliare pubblico è un tema ampiamente dibattuto dalle amministrazioni locali e dal governo centrale. Il riuso e la valorizzazione di un patrimonio pubblico di immense dimensioni non più utile ai fini pubblicistici e a rischio di abbandono è una sfida per i territori italiani e per le finanze delle amministrazioni. Per un lungo periodo, lo sforzo del legislatore in materia di valorizzazione è stato incentrato sullâagevolazione delle procedure di alienazione degli immobili pubblici. Alla base di queste vi era la necessità di immettere i beni sul mercato per affidarli a operatori che disponessero delle appropriate risorse finanziarie e conoscenze in grado di riqualificare gli immobili e assicurarne nuovi usi. A una valutazione ex post, le misure di agevolazione e di accesso al mercato attraverso i tradizionali strumenti di valorizzazione non hanno dato lâesito sperato. I crescenti tentativi di vendite al ribasso di beni immobili pubblici possono essere posti in analogia al mercato dei crediti deteriorati che sono stimati al massimo al 30% del loro reale valore così come segnalato da Banca dâItalia. Tali esiti fallimentari hanno imposto la ricerca di nuove soluzioni per evitare la svendita e lâabbandono di tali beni. In un patrimonio sospeso tra lâincuria da parte delle amministrazioni e lâesclusione dalle tradizionali logiche del mercato immobiliare negli ultimi anni hanno avuto luogo innovative forme di valorizzazione promosse da una cittadinanza desiderosa di mettersi in gioco per valorizzare il proprio territorio. Se gli operatori tradizionali non hanno più lâinteresse né le risorse per trasformare aree e manufatti, la creative class, rappresentata da associazioni, artisti e imprese, fab-lab, industrie creative, atelier di manifattura digitale, laboratori artigianali e studi professionali, riscopre il patrimonio immobiliare abbandonato per avviare progetti dâinnovazione a sfondo culturale e sociale. Alla base di queste attività vi è il desiderio di far ripartire i territori segnati dalla crisi strutturale che ha colpito il nostro paese attraverso la cultura e la condivisione di progetti e idee. La presente ricerca mira a studiare queste innovative forme di valorizzazione del patrimonio immobiliare pubblico promosse dal basso, dalle iniziative portate avanti dalla cittadinanza locale. In particolare, lâobiettivo è di individuare le condizioni in grado di predire il successo di simili progetti, e, dal punto di vista estimativo, in quale misura simili attori siano in grado di generare nuovo valore economico nel patrimonio immobiliare valorizzato. Spesso le amministrazioni favoriscono lo sviluppo di simili iniziative che rivitalizzano gli immobili a costi contenuti e instaurano inediti ecosistemi di cultura e impresa, promuovendo simultaneamente sviluppo economico e rigenerazione urbana. Gli immobili pubblici si trasformano così da riserva di valore finanziario in nuovi beni comuni, di cui la cittadinanza si riappropria per avviare nuove realtà sociali ed economiche. Sebbene i processi di valorizzazione dal basso siano una procedura ormai consolidata in ambito europeo, in letteratura il tema è ancora sperimentale e in via di definizione. Per questo motivo, la ricerca è basata sullâanalisi e sullâinterpretazione di alcune evidenze empiriche di successo in Italia e può essere distinta in tre fasi. Una prima indagine sperimentale è stata condotta su quindici casi studio di successo in Italia. Le metodologie a fondamento della statistica descrittiva hanno permesso di individuare alcuni elementi comuni alla maggior parte delle esperienze. Fra questi, lâimportanza di una cittadinanza attiva, gli usi temporanei, il quadro concettuale dei beni comuni e l'attrattività delle industrie creative. Il secondo step indaga più dettagliatamente le dinamiche dei processi di valorizzazione dal basso e approfondisce alcuni aspetti a scala macro e micro-territoriale. Il dataset di esperienze di valorizzazione è stato ampliato passando a cinquanta esperienze che sono state esaminate attraverso le tecniche di statistica multivariata. In particolare, lâanalisi cluster ha permesso di individuare alcuni gruppi interni al dataset con caratteristiche simili. Dallâanalisi sono emersi alcuni elementi che possono rappresentare altrettanti predittori per il successo delle esperienze di valorizzazione dal basso in Italia. Dal punto di vista macro-territoriale è emersa l'importanza della dotazione di capitale sociale in un territorio. Le grandi città sono da sempre caratterizzate da unâalta dotazione di capitale sociale e umano e, per questo motivo, i processi di valorizzazione dal basso sono tipicamente fenomeni urbani. Ciononostante simili meccanismi possono avvenire anche in realtà dove il capitale sociale è latente. In questo caso le amministrazioni hanno promosso specifiche politiche pubbliche per stimolare la cittadinanza a portare avanti simili iniziative. A scala micro-territoriale, lâanalisi cluster ha permesso di individuare alcuni aspetti a livello di architettonico, gestionale e giuridico. I processi di valorizzazione dal basso avvengono in edifici di piccole dimensioni in buono stato di conservazione. Simili meccanismi necessitano di una emblematica figura, quella dellâimprenditore sociale, per garantire la loro sostenibilità economica nel tempo. Dal punto di vista giuridico, la flessibilità è lâelemento necessario per garantire formule contrattuali appropriate alle esigenze dellâamministrazione proprietaria e degli ideatori del progetto. Se sono evidenti le esternalità positive che i processi bottom-up generano a livello locale (nuovi posti di lavoro, rigenerazione urbana, nuovi servizi per la comunità ), i vantaggi economici, da un punto di vista puramente immobiliare, sono meno evidenti. Il terzo step riguarda il processo di creazione di valore che simili processi sono in grado di generare nel patrimonio valorizzato. L'analisi dei flussi di cassa scontati condotta su un caso studio è la procedura utilizzata per stimare il valore generato dai benefici che la mobilitazione dal basso genera per le amministrazioni proprietarie. Per misurare nell'elevato grado di incertezza associata alla catena del valore che caratterizza le iniziative bottom-up, il modello di stima è stato combinato con la simulazione Montecarlo. I risultati evidenziano che da un valore iniziale pressoché nullo, i processi bottom-up hanno contribuito ad accrescere del 60% tale valore, dimostrando come simili processi rappresentino una valida alternativa alle tradizionali procedure delle amministrazioni per valorizzare gli asset immobiliari abbandonati. Dal punto di vista pratico, la ricerca mette in luce nuove prospettive di valorizzazione del patrimonio immobiliare pubblico e fornisce un valido supporto alle amministrazioni per promuovere simili pratiche. I risultati scientifici, infine, connettono due temi â la valorizzazione del patrimonio immobiliare pubblico e i processi di mobilitazione dal basso â ad oggi trattati distintamente in letteratura e dimostra lâefficacia di simili pratiche nella rigenerazione dei territori.
