Resumen
Covert channels are methods to convey information clandestinely by exploiting the inherent capabilities of common communication protocols. They can be used to hide malware communication as part of cyber attacks. Here, we present CCgen, a framework for injecting covert channels into network traffic that includes modules for common covert channels at the network and transport layer and allows a smooth integration of novel covert channel techniques. Our tool—openly available and implemented in Python—enables the operation on-the-fly in live communications as well as the manipulation of network traffic packet captures. We evaluate a first prototype by generating a varied assortment of covert channels based on state-of-the-art techniques and check their detectability with Suricata, a popular, open-source intrusion prevention and detection system. The injected covert channels remain mostly undetected. Our proposal fills a gap within the diversity of openly available tools for cybersecurity research and education. It builds a flexible environment for experts to test analysis algorithms, thus also enabling advanced training in applied network steganography.

Resumen
The present study is devoted to several instances of Gaito Gazdanov’s cryptographic references to the texts of A. P. Chekhov. The focus of the study is the image of the Russian emigrant Fedorchenko, portrayed in Chekhov’s style. His literary prototype is the heroine of the short story “Dushechka” (“The Darling”). An appeal to Gazdanov’s publicistic speech “On Chekhov” allows to decipher the “Chekhovian” subtext of the image. The article also contains an analysis of the image of Suzanne who, being Fedorchenko’s heroinedouble, is still portrayed by the author in a different vein. Tolstoy’s interpretation of the meaning of “Dushechka” (“The Darling”) made it possible to suspect a certain hidden “optimism” in the ending of the novel. The study takes into account the presence of other literary prototypes of the aforementioned heroes, and allusions to them disavow their correlation with the Chekhovian image and transpose them to a covert plane, the sphere of cryptopoetics.

Resumen
The approach adopted here identifies finiteness with the capacity to license an independent predication. The prototypical independent predication is positive and declarative; other ‘moods’, or main-clause types, while finite, may fail to display the morphosyntactic properties associated with this prototype. These properties vary from language to language, but the recurrent core properties are verbal, since the verb is the prototypical predicator. Some constructions that occur in both main and subordinate clauses, such as the infinitival in English, differ in interpretation in these two different circumstances; this may be the only difference between finite (main-clause) and non-finite (subordinate-clause) use. This general approach is contrasted with one in which finiteness is identified with the presence of a particular set of morphosyntactic properties: such a view as the latter can be maintained, if at all, only on the basis of massive recourse to covert categories.

Resumen
This study is a preview of an ongoing project to develop a solar prototype for roadway to harness solar energy with the addition of transparent shield cover. Solar panel on roadway is a new research arena which has the potential to reform the conventional road network systems. Since pavements are often exposed to a great amount of solar energy throughout the day, they can be used to develop a technique which can accumulate and store this solar energy and later convert it into electricity. The development of the prototype involved selecting several polycarbonate materials as transparent shield covers containing different strength types and light transparency properties. In addition, it involved Finite Element Analysis of the prototypes under static load, Transmittance Spectra test for the transparent covers and generation of power using the prototypes. Initial results show a great potential of implementing this technique as a major pavement energy harvesting technology.

Resumen
In arid climates, the optical properties of plastic-covered greenhouses deteriorate very quickly. To examine the effect of greenhouse shape and orientation on the degradation rate of cover optical properties, four greenhouse prototypes were constructed in two shapes (duo-pitched roof and tunnel), covered with a 200 µm thick low-density polyethylene film. Two types were oriented in the North–South direction, the other two in the East–West direction, and all were exposed for one year to an arid climate. Samples were taken from the different surfaces of each cover for testing. The total transmittance (Ts) and reflectance (Rs) of the samples were measured and averaged to obtain the whole cover properties (T and R). Measurements were carried out periodically every 30 days for the four prototypes. The degradation behavior of the optical properties of each cover surface (Ts, Rs) and the whole cover (T, R) was investigated for the four film covers during the exposure time. Results show that the degradation rate of Ts depends on the surface location and the cover orientation. Among the different surfaces of the four prototype covers, the maximum difference in the Ts value between the E and N surfaces for the tunnel cover oriented in the N–S direction was 15.5%. Although the variation of the Ts value among the different cover surfaces was found, the time dependences of the whole cover transmittance (T) for the four covers tested were almost similar. Accordingly, the shape and orientation of the small size greenhouses did not significantly affect the degradation rate of the cover optical properties. In the four covers tested, the reduction in the global solar radiation transmittance (T) was 27–31% after one-year exposure compared to the new film. Nonlinear correlation was developed to predict the degradation rate of the cover transmittance as a function of the accumulated solar irradiance.

Resumen
The small scout robot is generally thrown into the war zone by soldier. The short thrown distance and the danger of soldier exposed to the enemy limit the application of the small scout robot. So this paper presents a type of low acceleration overload catapult device of no flash, no smoke and no sound. It can throw the small scout robot covertly to long distances with low acceleration overload, and avoid the danger that soldier be exposed to the enemy when artificial throwing. The high and low pressure chambers of the catapult device achieve the low acceleration overload launching, and eliminate the risk of robot damaged by huge acceleration overload. The covert launching of no flash, no smoke and no sound is achieved by the piston to seal the gun propellant gas in barrel. Based on the interior ballistic model, the interior ballistic performance is calculated. The experiment for measuring the acceleration overload of the projectile is achieved by using the catapult device prototype and the measurement system developed by authors. The simulation and test results show that this catapult device can meet the requirement to throw the small scout robot into the war zone.

Resumen
In an interview with William Rees-Mogg, Berlusconi revealed that he had two portraits hanging in his office—those of Mrs Thatcher and of the Emperor Justinian. The place allotted to Mrs Thatcher, the prime exponent of free market economics of our times, can hardly cause surprise, but that given to Justinian is less easily explicable. Berlusconi is not known for his passion for the history and politics of the Byzantine Empire, so the Justinian on whom Berlusconi rests his eyes at critical moments must be the Justinian of Dante, whom Berlusconi would have studied in school. Dante gave Justinian a place in Paradiso as the very prototype of the law-giver and founder of a new political and legal order, so Berlusconi's cult of Justinian can be taken as indicative of a self-image as founder of new order. But there is another, more covert factor. Democracy in any sense was alien to Justinian, who as Emperor of the East enjoyed a sway unknown to any leader of a modern democratic state, and one paralleled in western societies only by the absolute power afforded to the owner of a contemporary business empire, like Ford Corporation, ICI or indeed Fininvest; or the leader of an idiosyncratic, autocratic political movement like Forza Italia.

In the fall of 1949, after the end of the Greek Civil War, the bulk of the defeated Greek Communist (KKE) fighters were covertly transported from Albania to Soviet Uzbekistan. This article addresses the covert relocation project, organized by the Soviet Communist Party, and the social engineering program intended to create a prototype Greek People’s Democracy in Tashkent. Drawing on Soviet and Greek Communist Party records, the article raises three major issues: first, the contingencies of postwar transition in the Balkans and the precarious status of the Albanian regime; second, the international Communist response to the military defeat of the KKE in 1949 and the competing visions of the Greek, Soviet, and Albanian parties regarding the future of the Democratic Army of Greece (DAG); third, the intentions of the KKE to establish military bases in Albania and the party’s ensuing effort to transform the agrarian fighters of the DAG into revolutionary cadres for a future victorious repatriation in Greece. Drawing these elements together, the article elucidates the relocation operation of 1949, positions the Greek political refugee experience within the postwar “battle of refugees,” and challenges the widespread historiographical assumption that the KKE immediately abandoned the prospect of a renewed armed confrontation.

Resumen
Radioactive krypton-85 (85Kr) gas, a chemically inert and non-proliferation indicator, is derived from fission products. Its detection relies on the Budesamt für Strahlenschutz–Institute of Atmospheric Radioactivity (BfS-IAR) method, which necessitated impurity removal using soda lime, silica gel, and liquid nitrogen for cryogenic adsorption. This manual process requires frequent replacements, posing challenges for its automation. To address this, we developed a prototype krypton sampling system as an interim research product for the fully automated remote monitoring of covert nuclear activity. The system incorporates a hollow fiber membrane for impurity removal, a computer-controlled multi-position valve for sampling, and an electric cooler for adsorption. The impurity removal modules demonstrated high efficiencies, removing H2O and CO2 at 99.8% and 97.8% rates, respectively. Further, the custom-made sampling system can process 16 samples in a single run without analyst intervention. We conducted experiments to verify the automatic krypton sampling capability. The activity concentration of 85Kr in ambient air was measured using the BfS-IAR processing and detection system. The system exhibited a recovery rate of ~7.8% for krypton in 1000 L air, demonstrating good continuous remote monitoring capability. This study promotes the development of an automated analysis system for the detection of 85Kr in ambient air.

Resumen
Background: Clinical trials are traditionally complex in their designs and objectives. To heighten research participant safety, communication between research and clinical teams is necessary to ensure clinical treatment is aligned with the boundaries of the research protocol and anticipated safety of the investigational product (i.e., patient medical alert information). Methods: Secondary analysis of clinical nurse patient simulation and interview transcripts via Linguistic Inquiry Word Count (LIWC-22) examined sentiments and overall nurses’ perceptions of a prototype, wearable medical device designed for mobile information exchange of research safety details needed at point of clinical care. Audio recorded transcriptions of patient simulation interaction and post-interviews were assessed to assess a novel prototype device worn on the patient’s left wrist, which was not identified to nurses (primed) prior to the patient simulation. Results: Registered Nurses (RNs, n=13) and Advanced Practice Registered Nurses (APRNs, n=5) working in direct patient clinical care settings and specialties (e.g., emergency care, urgent care, primary care) from the micropolitan Rocky Mountain West were included in the study. Undergraduate nursing students (n=17) from a College of Nursing also participated in this study. Post-simulation transcription files analyzed using LIWC-22 established summary measures of four sentiments (i.e., analytic, clout, authenticity, tone) for each participant. Practicing nurses were more analytic, yet student nurses conveyed more social understanding (clout). Using LIWC-22, it was observed RNs balanced their analytic, authentic, clout and tone better when conveying information compared to student nurses and APRNs. Conclusion: LIWC-22 is a valid use of natural language processing to examine covert sentiments and perspectives which may not be evident in traditional qualitative analysis of design-related end-user interviews. LIWC-22 may enable design teams to explore another plane of technological acceptance with clinician feedback. Future research is needed to better understand nursing behavior and wearable medical device interaction by coupling sentiment analysis results with objective analysis such as eye-tracking.

Resumen
This article explores the concept of the supernatural and the characterization of monsters and devils in Old English (OE), using the framework of a prototype model of semantic structure. Although there is a lexical gap, with no OE word equivalent to Present-Day English supernatural, it is possible to identify a set of semantic traits that constitute a covert conceptual category similar to the modern concept and encompassing Anglo-Saxon monsters and devils. The essence of this category is ‘exclusion’. The difference between the modern and medieval concepts is that, for the Anglo-Saxons, the boundary of the supernatural was conceptually much ‘closer’ and conceived in less abstract terms, corresponding to the frontier between the civilized space of society and the unruly alien space beyond. Similarities in the words applied to them reflect the fact that supernatural beings shared this alien space with other more mundane outsiders, such as foreigners and criminals. As its most extraordinary members, however, Anglo-Saxon monsters and devils played an important role in delineating the boundaries of society by acting as a challenge or counterexample to the principles of proper behaviour and accepted beliefs from which that civilized space was constructed and therefore supporting the normative function of the Anglo-Saxons’ ‘sense of place’ in the terms of Convery et al. (2012).

Resumen
This paper introduces the conceptual design of a submersible seaplane that merges the maturity of the wing-in-ground (WIG or ekranoplan) crafts and seaplanes with covert hybrid underwater insertion, travel, and recovery. WIG crafts have a higher lift-to-drag ratio and thus improved endurance, while hybrid crafts have recently become feasible due to advances in materials, electric propulsion, and multi-medium computational fluid dynamics. The reconnaissance design can insert, loiter, and extract from underwater, surfaces if necessary; it can fly in or out of ground effect, keep watch on the sea surface while recharging, and travel underwater. This design minimizes Doppler and infrared signatures to evade the surface wave, backscatter radar systems, and cube satellite arrays typical in contested maritime areas. Five critical enabling technologies are overviewed, showing how they enable a conceptual design. This project was conducted in collaboration with two industrial partners, namely Ron Allum and Thales Australia. The conceptual design has been socialised and confirmed at technical conferences from each core discipline and partly confirmed by a recent Chinese design and testing of a similar hybrid uncrewed aerial vehicle (HUAV). Recommendations are made for improving the conceptual design before proof-of-concept prototype testing. Given the seminal nature of HUAV design and research and some of the unique innovations proposed, the lessons learned from this iteration will likely be significant to other designers and researchers.

Resumen
Establishing secret command and control (C&C) channels from attackers is important in malware design. This paper presents design and analysis of malware architecture exploiting push notification services as C&C channels. The key feature of the push notification-based malware design is remote triggering, which allows attackers to trigger and execute their malware by push notifications. The use of push notification services as covert channels makes it difficult to distinguish this type of malware from other normal applications also using the same services. We implemented a backdoor prototype on Android devices as a proof-of-concept of the push notification-based malware and evaluated its stealthiness and feasibility. Our malware implementation effectively evaded the existing malware analysis tools such as 55 antimalware scanners from VirusTotal and SandDroid. In addition, our backdoor implementation successfully cracked about 98% of all the tested unlock secrets (either PINs or unlock patterns) in 5 seconds with only a fraction (less than 0.01%) of the total power consumption of the device. Finally, we proposed several defense strategies to mitigate push notification-based malware by carefully analyzing its attack process. Our defense strategies include filtering subscription requests for push notifications from suspicious applications, providing centralized management and access control of registration tokens of applications, detecting malicious push messages by analyzing message contents and characteristic patterns demonstrated by malicious push messages, and detecting malware by analyzing the behaviors of applications after receiving push messages.

The following document presents the development of educational experimental prototypes. The themes of the prototypes cover principles or concepts of physics. Like kinematics, oscillatory movements and shocks. Each prototype has sensors that allow measurements of the variables involved in the experimentation. At the same time, mobile applications are developed for devices with Android operating system, which allow the user to control the prototype from their cell phone and also view the variables measured by the experimentation prototypes. The applications also have a data export system that allows to obtain a file in csv format. In this way, the measurements are obtained in the form of a table to later be processed through office automation tools or other numerical computing software such as Matlab.

Resumen
(1) Background. Patients with bilateral vestibular disease (BVD) experience oscillopsia with a detriment to visual acuity (VA). This VA is driven mainly by the VOR that has two components: rotational and translational. VA can be tested by using dynamic visual acuity (DVA) on a treadmill because both systems are activated. The aim of this study is to compare VA before and after chronic electrical stimulation of the otolith organ. (2) Materials and Method. Five patients suffering from bilateral vestibular dysfunction (BVD), previously implanted with a new vestibular implant prototype, were included in this study with the aim to check VA with and without vestibular implant use (W and W/O) in static, 2 km/h and 4 km/h walking situations. DVAtreadmill was measured on a treadmill with a dynamic illegible E (DIE) test in static and dynamic conditions (while walking on the treadmill at 2 and 4 km/h). The DVA score was registered in a logarithm of the minimum angle of resolution (LogMAR) for each speed. In addition, every patient completed the oscillopsia severity questionnaire (OSQ) and video head impulse test (vHIT) before and after activation of the vestibular implant. (3) Results. The analysis shows a significant difference in OSQ scores and DVA with an improvement in dynamic conditions. Organized corrective saccades during the use of a vestibular implant with no changes in gain were also detected in the video head impulse tests (vHIT). (4) Conclusion. The vestibular implant with otolithic stimulation offers changes in the response of DVA, which makes this paper one of the first to address the possible restoration of it. It is not possible to rule out other contributing factors (presence of covert saccades, somatosensory system, …). More work seems necessary to understand the neurophysiological basis of these findings, but this implant is added as a therapeutic alternative for the improvement of oscillopsia.

Laptop webcams can be covertly activated by malware and law enforcement agencies. Consequently, 59% percent of Americans manually cover their webcams to avoid being surveilled. However, manual covers are prone to human error---through a survey with 200 users, we found that 61.5% occasionally forget to re-attach their cover after using their webcam. To address this problem, we developed Smart Webcam Cover (SWC): a thin film that covers the webcam (PDLC-overlay) by default until a user manually uncovers the webcam, and automatically covers the webcam when not in use. Through a two-phased design iteration process, we evaluated SWC with 20 webcam cover users through a remote study with a video prototype of SWC, compared to manual operation, and discussed factors that influence users' trust in the effectiveness of SWC and their perceptions of its utility.

Resumen
An exoskeleton is an external cast which can be used to maneuver, protect or even provide a greater magnitude of strength to the upper limb allowing for heightened efficiency and performance. The limb may be weakened due to so many diseases or reasons such as paralysis, stroke, muscular atrophy, and different kinds of injuries. Numerous designs and manufactured prototypes of pneumatic exoskeletons have been reviewed—their pros and cons weighed against each other. This paper covers the fundamental concepts of various prototypes that have been designed and developed over the years. The best mechanism has been highlighted, although the design of a fully efficient exoskeleton comes with its set of drawbacks. Types of energy used for the driver unit, types of actuators, materials used, design concepts, and overall weight and manufacturing cost of every prototype has been contrasted with the others to conclude what an ideal exoskeleton for rehabilitation purposes must look like and the principles and features of the prototype must be decided upon by keeping aesthetics and ergonomics in mind.

Resumen
In the domain of cultural products, sets of products categorized together on the basis of perceived similarities constitute a genre. When studying the process of genre categorization, any item can be viewed as the prototype of a genre plus a list of variations. The more an item resembles the prototype, the more this item is viewed as typical of the genre. The present study focuses on the extent to which the categorization of a fiction book cover by genre helps to single out the most preferred book. It is hypothesized that the typicality of a specific genre, identified by a book's front cover, affects the preference for that book. In an experimental setting, frequent and infrequent readers ( N = 32) were asked to judge the typicality and to state their preference for thirteen book covers from two different genres (literature and mystery). The results show that 77 percent of all covers were classified correctly as to genre. Furthermore, the more representative a book was for a particular genre, the greater the preference for the book.

The origin and nature of ultrahigh-energy cosmic rays (UHECRs) are of uppermost importance in astroparticle physics. Motivated by the need for an unprecedented aperture for further advancements, the Fluorescence detector Array of Single-pixel Telescopes (FAST) is a prospective next-generation, ground-based UHECR observatory that aims to cover an enormous area by deploying a large array of low-cost fluorescence telescopes. The full-scale FAST prototype consists of four 20 cm photomultiplier tubes at the focus of a segmented mirror 1.6 m in diameter. Three FAST prototypes have been installed at the Telescope Array Experiment in Utah, USA, and two prototypes at the Pierre Auger Observatory in Mendoza, Argentina, commencing remote observation of UHECRs in both hemispheres. We report on recent results of the full-scale FAST prototypes operated in both hemispheres, including telescope calibrations, atmospheric monitoring, ongoing electronics upgrades, development of sophisticated reconstruction methods and UHECR detections.

Resumen
AbstractThis paper studies the corona discharge power thresholds in microstrip bandpass filters (BPFs) and, in particular, is focused on a solution based on λ/2 cover-ended resonators to enhance their peak power handling capability (PPHC). First, a parametric analysis is carried out to evaluate the variation of the maximum electric field and the unloaded quality factor (Qu) as a function of the cover's geometrical dimensions (i.e. height, length, and width). Next, several microstrip BPFs centered at 1.6 GHz are designed, and their behaviors under moderate-to-high applied RF power signals are simulated to corroborate the previous study. A suitable number and size of covers are selected to enhance PPHC without barely degrading the filters’ electrical performance and, consequently, without hardly increasing the insertion losses. Finally, two third-order filters with covers and without covers (benchmark prototype) are manufactured, by way of illustration, and they are tested in the European High-Power RF Space Laboratory to validate the good performance of the proposed solution, where a PPHC enhancement of 3.1 dB at high pressures is achieved as compared to the benchmark prototype.

Resumen
The objective of this work was to design and test an all-terrain wheelchair for the rural population, implementing an AZ31 magnesium alloy and a lever propulsion mechanism to reduce the effort made during mobility. Two wheelchair prototypes were evaluated under the ISO7176 standard and usability testing. To validate the fact that the wheelchair weight reduction represents a benefit, a repeated measures study was carried out to establish the effect of the material change on mobility efficiency. The tests were carried out in an academic campus in Colombia in an open space with a surface covered with grass, unevenness, and other obstacles to emulate the conditions of a rural environment. A convenience sample was used, randomly selecting 17 subjects from the academic community without disabilities or overweight. Two prototypes were manufactured, one in aluminum and the second in magnesium alloy. For the study of repeated measurements, each participant had to complete three tests with both prototypes: a short-dis ance test, an obstacles test, and a long-distance test, which were performed randomly. The magnesium alloy prototype achieved a 25% weight reduction. In ISO7176 testing, both prototypes maintained their structural integrity and functionality. Also, with a confidence of 95%, it was possible to establish that with the magnesium prototype, the users traveled a greater distance in the same time. The new design meets the needs of mobility, support, and comfort of users, making efficient use of magnesium alloy. Weight reduction in the wheelchair allows the user to save time on mobility or cover greater distances with less physical effort. This is a starting point to offer a contextualized and affordable product to the Latin American population.

Resumen
Developing countries with complex urban spatial configurations strive to control urbanization and its impact on energy consumption. The current study has used Tiruchirappalli city in India as a study area to demonstrate the impact on cooling energy consumption by complex urban spatial configurations. To comprehend the complexity, sixty-five urban prototypes were generated through permutation and combination using local climatic zones scheme. The image-based binary classification model was used to categorize the morphologies in the city. The study aims to investigate the cooling energy consumption of a heterogeneous urban spatial configuration through prototype models. The urban prototypes were grouped using the unsupervised machine learning approach. The validation for the prototypes was conducted through the RMSE method, and the errors lie between 0.45 and 0.68. The results indicated that increasing the green cover ratio on the combination of high and mid-rise spatial configurations is ineffective in reducing the cooling energy. In contrast, the combination of low-rise and mid-rise spatial configurations consumed less energy for air-conditioning when the green cover ratio was increased. The results conclude that the combination of high-rise with open low-rise spatial configuration is unsuitable for warm and humid climate. The high frequency of the cooling energy was between 120Gjs to 250Gjs which explains that the complexity of the spatial configuration in the city helps to reduce the energy utilized for air conditioning. This research aids planners and energy policymakers in the decision-making process of city spatial planning.

Resumen
This research presents a rectangular ring antenna excited by a circular disc monopole (CDM) mounted in front of a square reflector. The proposed antenna is designed to cover a frequency range of 2.300–5.825 GHz and thereby is suitable for WiMAX applications. Multiple parametric studies were carried out using the CST Microwave Studio simulation program. A prototype antenna was fabricated and experimented. The measurements were taken and compared with the simulation results, which indicates good agreement between both results. The prototype antenna produces an impedance bandwidth (|S11|< −10 dB) that covers the WiMAX frequency range and a constant unidirectional radiation pattern (θ=0°and∅=90°). The minimum and maximum gains are 3.7 and 8.7 dBi, respectively. The proposed antenna is of compact size and has good unidirectional radiation performance. Thus, it is very suitable for a multitude of WiMAX applications.

Resumen
Abstract Directed energy deposition (DED) enables the additive manufacturing of several materials such as molybdenum alloys that are very difficult to process by conventional methods. Some of these materials are highly reactive to gases in ambient atmosphere such as oxygen, and nitrogen. Oxidation during additive manufacturing significantly influences the mechanical properties of a part. In some cases, the shielding gas coverage of standard powder nozzles is not sufficient, and oxidation still takes place. A functional prototype of a compound multi flow path annular nozzle was developed using computational fluid dynamics simulations. Simulations were performed using multi-component miscible gas model. Prototypes were manufactured for several design iterations to test their functionality in cold flow conditions. In the end, an Inconel based prototype was built, using laser powder bed fusion. The volume of shielding gas cover over the substrate improved with the proposed design and the radial extent of 80 ppm oxygen concentration increased from 8 mm to 25 mm. Finally, Mo-Si-B alloy was deposited on a 1000 °C pre-heated substrate without significant oxidation or cracks.

Resumen
Every year, over 13.7 million stroke episodes occur worldwide, addressing the pressing need for efficient rehabilitation treatments to restore motor function in stroke patients is paramount. The escalating number of stroke cases emphasises the urgency of developing robust rehabilitation methodologies. Currently, therapists rely on subjective and manual assessments to determine subsequent patient interventions, a method fraught with challenges, including subjectivity and dependence on the therapist's experience. This paper critically reviews the quantification and assessment of post-stroke patients' functional capability for independent daily activities. It delves into the existing standards of clinical assessment, explores the integration of sensors in limb rehabilitation prototypes, and observes the mathematical methods and algorithms employed by previous researchers to assess and quantify stroke patients' functional capability automatically. The discussion covers the advantages and disadvantages encountered in developing these prototypes and evaluating their suitability in addressing the complexities of stroke rehabilitation. In conclusion, this paper provides a perception of existing research and identifies crucial gaps. Based on the current research landscape, it presents proposals for prototype development, paving the way for future advancements in stroke rehabilitation methodologies.

Resumen
The production of injection-molding prototypes, e.g., molded interconnect devices (MID) prototypes, can be costly and time-consuming due to the process-specific inability to replace durable steel tooling with quicker fabricated aluminum tooling. Instead, additively manufactured soft tooling is a solution for the production of small quantities and prototypes, but producing complex parts with, e.g., undercuts, is avoided due to the necessity of additional soft tooling components. The integration of automated soft slides into soft tooling has not yet been investigated and poses a challenge for the design and endurance of the tooling. The presented study covers the design and injection-molding trial of soft tooling with integrated automated slides for the production of a complex MID prototype. The design further addresses issues like the alignment of the mold components and the sealing of the complex parting plane. The soft tooling was additively manufactured via digital light processing from a silica-filled photopolymer, and 10 proper parts were injection-molded from a laser-direct structurable glass fiber-filled PET+PBT material before the first damage on the tooling occurred. Although improvements are suggested to enhance the soft tooling durability, the designed features worked as intended and are generally transferable to other part geometries.

Resumen
Welding as a modern, highly efficient production technology found its position in almost all industries. At the same time the demands on the quality of the welded joints have been constantly growing in all production areas. Great demand on the quality of the welded joints consequently causes more experimental or prototype – so called – validation joints that take place before the welding of final construction. These experiments, prototypes aim at – for instance – defining the appropriate welding technology, material, pre-heating, welding parameters, clamping condition and optimizing the welding process. Naturally, these experiments and prototypes make production more expensive. Numerical simulations of welding – in the area of production preparation as well as of production proper – have been frequently used recently. Numerical simulations supported by experimental measurements can simulate the actual welding process very close to reality. The new material models for hardness and mechanical properties prediction based on numerical simulation solution will be introduced. The paper covers some typical welding cases from energy industrial sector. The homogenous and heterogeneous weld joints from modern energy Cr-Mo-Ni-V steels (including modern austenitic steels) were done as prototype welding. The numerical simulation of these weld joints including post weld heat treatment process were done and welding technologies were optimised based on the numerical simulation results. The calculated hardness was compared with real measurements. During project the complete material properties which are needed for numerical simulation were measured. Simplify numerical lifetime prediction of weld joints including results from numerical welding analyse (as residual stresses and plastic deformation) were done.

Resumen
In this paper, a frequency reconfigurable multiband multiple-input-multiple-output (MIMO) antenna is developed for 5G communication systems. The presented MIMO antenna element consists of a 50 Ω microstrip line, a rectangular monopole divided into two patches, and a partial ground plane. A split-ring resonator (SRR) is introduced into the upper patch to cover multiple 5G application bands, and an RF PIN diode is embedded between the upper and lower patches to enable the frequency diversity feature. In order to design a MIMO antenna with improved inter-element isolation, four antenna elements are orthogonally located with ground planes connected to each other. The antenna design covers the n41/n46/n48/n79 5G application bands. The prototype MIMO antenna is developed on the FR-4 substrate, and the measured results match with the simulated outcomes. The overall footprint of the prototype antenna is 70 × 70 × 1.6 mm3.

For a couple of years, the term entropy is gaining popularity as a term to cover the various dimensions of fast and rapidly developing, ‘uncontrollable’ business environment. The more complex and volatile an industry is – the higher is the level of entropy, that means - the harder to predict and therefore more uncertain will be process of new project or product implementation. In simple words, entropy as a measure of uncertainty or randomness, is permanently growing in nowadays business environment. In common use, A prototype is an early sample, model, or release of a product built to test a concept or process or to act as a thing to be replicated or learned from. Technique of prototyping becomes more efficient if analyzing of prototype occurs together with the potential consumer. Based on received feedback, or analyzing customer experience, lessons learned, company makes decision how to develop the product on the next phase. In Georgia, use of prototypes started with development of projects related to Information Systems. But later it was successfully applied to product development and Business model development, especially for startups and small entrepreneurs.

Resumen
Dürer’s Apocalypse was undoubtedly the prototype for the many apocalyptic representations that suddenly appeared in Central Europe by the end of the sixteenth century: the influence of Dürer’s Apocalypse extended far beyond the German borders, towards Western, Southern and Eastern countries. The Apocalypse text is extremely rich in symbols so that it could easily be enriched with additional meanings: Cranach’s reworking of Dürer’s iconographic model in the 1520s, under Luther’s personal guidance, became a key instrument of transmission of the Lutheran doctrine and anti-papal criticism. The reception of these prototypes in the Orthodox world followed different routes, as two different works of art can prove, namely, a cycle of frescoes on Mount Athos and a series of Gospel book covers made at the end of the seventeenth century by an unidentified Transylvanian Saxon Lutheran goldsmith. In the latter, the Cranach prototype, which was originally made with the purpose of transmitting the Lutheran doctrine, was brilliantly adapted by the goldsmith to a different context. The comparative analysis of the same scene by Dürer, Cranach and the Transylvanian goldsmith can be useful to show how art could be employed to transmit a religious and political message while adapting it to the specific needs and characteristics of a culturally and religiously different context.

Various types of materials and components have been synthesized to assemble respirator-type masks as an alternative to the (stable and durable) KN-95 face mask. Injection-type 3D printers were used to manufacture the components, where the thickness and height of the injection varied, printing time, clamping method and infill density. The morphological analysis (superficial and cross-sectional) was performed by scanning electron microscopy. The degree of filtration of the filters and the mask was determined by a physical test that simulated a human sneeze. The biological characterization was carried out in situ using culture media and observing the growth of pathogenic organisms. The results show the effectiveness of a mask like KN-95 in both biological and physical aspects, as well as greater durability and respect for the environment.

Resumen
Waste storage facilities must be protected against weathering once mining operations come to end, in order to ensure structural integrity and to avoid environmental pollution. Cover systems consisting on earthen materials layers that are placed over the wastes are a widely spread solution to fulfil such requirement. This paper presents an experimental study of a cover system intended to protect a waste storage facility study case located in the arid eastern foothills of the Central Andes range, Argentina. At the study case, filtered tailings and waste rock are stored conjunctly. Both materials are stacked as alternating layers, roughly one-meter thickness each. The cover prototype is comprised of the stack topmost tailings layer, which is expected to act as the store-and-release element of a WB cover. The prototype design also includes a waste rock layer placed on top of the tailings, to avoid wind and runoff erosion. A total of 6 study plots have been setup, each equipped with water content and matric suction sensors. The plots location was decided to tackle cover response under sloping and horizontal ground conditions. The performance of three different waste rock layer thicknesses are being studied under both placement inclinations. Available data shows that the prototype comprising a 10cm thick waste rock layer has served satisfactorily to avoid deep percolation and tailings erosion.

Resumen
ABSTRACT The pol and gag gene fragments of small ruminant lentivirus field isolates collected in the last decade in Italy were amplified, sequenced, and analyzed. Phylogenetic analysis revealed that the majority of ovine isolates form a distinct cluster more similar to caprine lentivirus prototypes than to the visna virus prototype. These findings confirm and extend those reported by Leroux et al. (Arch. Virol., 142:1125-1137, 1997). Moreover, we observed that a variable region of Gag, included in the fragment analyzed, corresponded to one of the three major capsid antigen epitopes, which suggests that the antibody response to this epitope may be type specific. To test this hypothesis, two recombinant peptides, derived from the Icelandic prototype K1514 and this novel genotype, were expressed and used in an enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay to screen a panel of ovine and caprine sera collected from different geographical locations in Italy. Several sera reacted in a type-specific manner, indicating that in a diagnostic setting the combination of at least these two type-specific peptides is necessary to cover a wide range of infections. Additionally, these results support the hypothesis of cross-species transmission based on the phylogenetic analysis described above. This has implications for the control and eradication of small ruminant lentivirus infections.

Abstract Any flight test programme is essentially based on a flight test plan, i.e. a document agreed upon and accepted by all the parties interested in the tests, and authorised by the superior body/authorities responsible for the execution of the tests. The flight test plan determines the number of flights and flight hours indispensable to verify whether a given aircraft satisfies specified requirements. Many and various external factors may have significant and adverse effect on the execution of the flight test program according to the earlier agreed schedule. The study also covers the structure of a model of a management system for aircraft prototype testing, and the structure of artificial neural network (ANN) developed on the basis of experimentally gained data from the military aircraft testing. A mathematical model based on the artificial neural network and its potential for the managing of aircraft prototypes testing has been formulated as well.

The use of information technology to support administrative activities in the neighborhood makes it easier for administrators to provide administrative services for community members. The service of making rt cover letters and paying residents' mandatory contributions at RT08 / RW10 Perum Ambar Cibinong Residence Bogor still uses conventional methods, namely by recording manually. This process is considered inefficient in the process of waiting for the process of checking and making letters. And for the payment process that is still carried out by paying directly to the public relations and then handed over to the Treasurer of the RT. For this reason, an information system is needed that can facilitate these problems. The service of requesting a letter of introduction and payment of mandatory dues can be facilitated through the SI-Warga application. The creation of a SI-Warga application using a prototype model, where the flow and stages used include identifying users and developing prototypes. The refrigerator door cover deformation or cracking is a major flaw in the BCD268 refrigerator. In this paper we create a simplified model of the refrigerator door. Based on the standard modules of ABAQUS finite element analysis software, this paper analyzed the deformation mechanism of the refrigerator door, and determined the parts of the deformation. Aiming at the deformation and cracking, the numerical simulation of BCD 268 door cover was conducted, and two kinds of different options to strengthen the ribs were proposed, then the two programs were carried out through finite element analysis, and prototypes were fabricated high and low temperature impact test for validation. Optimal structure scheme was verified by contrast. The designed lower-door covers were produced in small scale, and it proved to be consistent with the numerical results of finite element.

Resumen
Tidal current technologies have the potential to provide highly predictable energy, since tides are driven by lunar cycles. However, before implementing such technologies on a large scale, their environmental performance should be assessed. In this study, a prospective life cycle assessment (LCA) was performed on a 12 MW tidal energy converter array of Minesto Deep Green 500 (DG500) prototypes, closely following the Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) standards, but including scenarios to cover various design possibilities. The global warming potential (GWP) of the prototype array was in the range of 18.4–26.3 gCO2-eq/kWhe. This is comparable with other renewable energy systems, such as wind power. Material production processes have the largest impact, but are largely offset by recycling at the end of life. Operation and maintenance processes, including the production of replacement parts, also provide major contributions to environmental impacts. Comparisons with other technologies are limited by the lack of a standardized way of performing LCA on offshore power generation technologies.

Resumen
Highlights Cover crops are crops that cover the bare soil, providing multiple benefits. Cover crops must undergo a termination which can be based on mechanical methods. A modular prototype has been developed to evaluate different types of tools. The synergic use of multiple tools in combination yields better results. Abstract. Cover crops are crops that occupy the soil between the end of a cash crop and the beginning of the next one, providing both agronomic and environmental benefits. To allow for the subsequent cultivation of the cash crop, cover crops must undergo an appropriate termination process based on winter frost, herbicide chemical treatments, or mechanical methods. For this latter approach, previous published research has only examined the effectiveness of termination obtained with individual mechanical tools without considering the possible synergistic effects of multiple tools with complementary actions. To address this gap, a modular multi-tool prototype has been developed in this work. It allows for the evaluation of the effects of different types of tools, both individually and in combination. The working modules of the prototype include: 1) tine cultivator; 2) disk harrow; and 3) crimper roller. Field trials were carried out in 2021 and 2022 on three fields of approximately 6000 m2, which were divided into 60 plots each and sown with vetch and barley. The plots were mechanically terminated with the prototype in different configurations, and the effectiveness of the different modules and their combinations was subsequently evaluated by measuring the NDVI index using ground sensing technology. The results indicate that the disk harrow 15°, used alone and in combination with other tools considered (crimper roller and tine cultivator for barley, crimper roller for vetch), offered the best termination effectiveness for both barley and vetch, with a termination rate of greater than or equal to 85%. Keywords: Conservation agriculture, Cover crops, Crimper roller, Disk harrow, Mechanical termination, Tine cultivator.

Resumen
To limit the oxidation of waste rocks that originates from mining operations and the subsequent leaching of acidic solutions with high concentration of metal ions, a tailing–rock–clay triple layer capillary cover system was developed to prevent rainwater infiltration in humid climatic regions. The fine grained soil (FGS) layer consists of mine tailing and a hydrodesulfurization (HDS) clay from waste-water treatment with a 95:5 mass ratio. The coarse grained soil (CGS) layer consists of local waste rock granules with a size of 1–10 mm. Methyltrimethoxysilane (MTMS), an oxidation-inhibiting agent with strong hydrophobicity, was passivated on the rock grains to further reduce water infiltration and leaching of metal ions. Prototype-scale column tests were performed with matric suction and water content measurements under 680 min rainfall of 60 mm/h, the most severe annual precipitation case scenario for the Dexing Copper Mine (Jiangxi Province, China, 28.95° N, 117.57° E, humid climate). Both the uncoated and the coated covers exhibited zero leakage throughout the experiment. The passivation on rock granules in the coated cover increased the water entry value (WEV) of the CGS layer to −0.56 kPa. This led to a 15 mm water storage increment in the overlain FGS layer as compared to that in the uncoated cover, and induced lateral drainage (5% of the precipitation) in the FGS layer, which was not overserved in the uncoated cover. The concentrations of the leached Fe2+, Cu2+, Zn2+, Mn2+ and Mg2+ cations drained from the CGS layers of the uncoated cover were 0, 0.4, 0.8, 73.5, and 590.5 mg/L, which are all within the regulation limits of industrial discharge water standards. The concentrations of Cu2+, Mn2+ and Mg2+ cations drained from the coated CGS layer were reduced by 1–3 orders of magnitude. The abovementioned laboratory studies validated the water retention and leaching prevention abilities of the proposed three-layer capillary covers and the MTMS coating, which hold promises in engineering applications.

Resumen
The article presents the concept of totemism as a prototype (as understood by Eleanor Rosch) of the phenomena characteristic of traditional thinking, i.e., as an idealised scheme structured by attributes of phenomena central to a given category. The first part of the article reviews the history of research on totemism, with emphasis on the reservations arising from the lack of coherence of “totemistic” forms. It covers the period of classic research, Claude Lévi-Strauss’s negation of totemism’s existence, as well as contemporary examples of the application of the concept (cognitive science, “ontological turn”). The second part of the article discusses the foundations of the prototype theory, particularly the issues of a non-Aristotelian way of generating categories and their structuring with the division into centre and periphery, as well as an idealised nature of prototype and prototype effects, and their application to the concept of totemism.
