AbstractTheodor Buchmann, better known as eodore Bibliander (1505-64), was Zwingli's immediate successor to the chair of Professor of Old Testament at the theological school in Zurich. An ardent orientalist, who was the first to edit a Latin translation of the Koran and a professed Hebraist, Bibliander could boast a well-articulated theology based on and around the knowledge of languages in general and of Hebrew in particular. In light of the contemporary prevalent notions of harmonia linguarum and concordia mundi, Bibliander sought to promote the study of Hebrew as an essential means to achieving a universal salvation. His treatise, De ratione omnium linguarum et literarum (Zurich, 1548), dedicated to the exposition of the said universalist theology, is the subject of this article. A full annotated translation of the De ratione communi is due to appear in the new series Corpus Reformatorum Minorum (Droz, Geneva).

Der Göttinger Naturwissenschaftler und Schriftsteller Georg Christoph Lichtenberg bemerkte selbstkritisch: ‘Wer nichts als Chemie versteht, versteht auch die nicht recht.’1Der Nationalökonom Walter Eucken soil dieses Wort auf die Wirtschaftswissen-schaften übertragen haben. Müβten wir im Blick auf unsere Disziplin nicht erst recht formulieren: Ein Neutestamentler, der nur etwas vom Neuen Testament versteht,kanndieses gar nicht richtig verstehen? Ist doch der Gegenstand der neutestamentlichen Wissenschaft – zumindest wenn wir äβerlich gesehen von der Bezeichnung ausgehen – in der Gestalt des Nestle-Aland 26. A. nur ein einziges griechisches Buch im Kleinformat von jetzt 680 Seiten, der alte Nestle 25. A. hatte gar nur 657 aufgrund seines kleineren textkritischen Apparats. Nach Morgenthaler2umfaβt es 137490 Worte. Allein dieses Manuskript hat 14514. Unter den theologischen wie den geisteswissenschaftlichen Disziplinen, die mit eigenen Lehrstühlen versehen an den Universitäten gelehrt werden, hat das Fach ‘Neues Testament’ gewiβ den am starksten begrenzten Gegenstand. Man vergleiche nur die Nachbardisziplin, die Kirchengeschichte: Der ganze Migne mit 378, die Weimarana mit 100 und das Corpus Reformatorum mit 101 Bänden, dazu zahllose andere Quellen, stehen diesem einen, kleinen Buch gegenüber.

El trabajo tiene como objetivo analizar la conformación de la burocracia estatal destinada al cuidado de niños y jóvenes en la década de 1920 en dos instituciones del in- terior del país. Si bien los especialistas de la época en ge- neral coincidían sobre las características que debía tener el personal destinado a esa tarea, las posibilidades de los Estados provinciales estuvieron lejos de contar con dichos funcionarios. En este trabajo, en particular, se analiza cómo se intentó solucionar los problemas surgidos de la implementación de estas concepciones en dos establecimientos diferentes: el Patronato Provincial de Menores de la provincia de Buenos Aires y el Reformatorio de Menores de Mendoza. Diarios de sesiones parlamentarias, memorias ministeriales, registros oficiales, expedientes, documentación institucional interna y prensa, forman parte de un heterogéneo corpus documental que permite analizar el problema des- de dos miradas complementarias: los discursos y cambios normativos y su aplicación en la práctica.

Abstract In the nineteenth century, scholars across Europe produced massive critical editions of texts from the history of Christianity in large volumes that number in the hundreds. This chapter overviews some of the religio-political circumstances that led to the creation of the greatest edition in German theology: the Corpus Reformatorum. Planned by Karl Gottlieb Bretschneider, the rationalist superintendent in Saxe-Gotha, printed by Carl August Schwetschke in Halle, and launched in 1834, the project entailed collecting, emending, and publishing everything extant written down by major sixteenth-century Protestant reformers: Philip Melanchthon, John Calvin, Huldrych Zwingli, Martin Luther, and more. The Prussian king, Friedrich Wilhelm III, and Minister of Culture, Karl von Altenstein, supported it as a means of investing the Prussian Union Church—the merger of Lutheran and Calvinist churches from 1817—with an extravagant history and tradition and as a monument to critical German scholarship (Wissenschaft). The work demanded technical skill and innovation. Its influence in modern ecclesiastical history remains deep and profound.
