Resumen
IntroductionCOPD (chronic obstructive pulmonary disease) is a chronic illness associated with psychological distress. Self-esteem and the associated comorbidities, like depression and anxiety, can influence its evolution.ObjectivesTo analyze how predominant coping styles associated with different levels of self-esteem and mental status in patients with COPD.AimsTo demonstrate that different types of coping-styles have an impact on self-esteem, depression and anxiety.MethodsTo a lot consisting of 28 subjects with COPD, was applied the COPE scale to assess the style of coping, to rate anxiety and depression The Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale (HADS) and for self-esteem the Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale. According to their higher coping sub-scale score, they were classified to one dominant coping type as follows: patients with problem-focused coping type (n = 9), emotion-focused coping (n = 10), social support-focused coping (n = 6), respectively avoiding coping type (n = 3).ResultsPatients with dominant problem-focused coping had the most elevated self-esteem compared to patients with social-focused coping (22.0 vs. 16.2; P = 0.039), the depression score was the highest in patients with dominant avoidance-type coping and the lowest in patients with dominant problem-focused coping (11.0 vs. 5.6; P = 0.042) respectively anxiety, was the highest in patients with dominant social-focused coping and the lowest in patients with dominant emotion-focused coping (11.6 vs. 5.0; P = 0.006).ConclusionsIn patients with COPD, problem-focused and emotion-focused copings are adaptive, while avoidance and emotion-focused copings are maladaptive on self-esteem and mental status. Such as, the coping represents a psychological dimension with an impact on the evolution of the disease, and the patients with COPD should be assessed and addressed multidisciplinary.Disclosure of interestThe authors have not supplied their declaration of competing interest.

Resumen
Stereooptics method have been successfully used in biomechanical studies of dental models. The aim of this study was to investigate, on the basis of functional deformities, the distribution of occlusal loads on the casts of a partially-edentulous mandible without and with dedicated copings. Precise measurement of strain and displacement of partially-edentulous mandibular control and experimental casts were provided by the digital image correlation method and ARAMIS software. Simulated loads ranged from 0 to 1000 N. Displacements and deformations of abutment teeth within the control cast of a partially-edentulous mandible were 0.48% for incisor without coping, 10.29% for canine without coping, and 6.64% for premolar without coping, and within the experimental cast of a partially-edentulous mandible they were 0.29% for incisor with coping, 7.007% for canine with coping, and 4.98% for premolar with coping. Wilcoxon matched pairs signed ranks sum test was not statistically significant for the majority of the examined parameters, except for the differences between deformations of teeth and copings under pressure p ≤ 0.05. When loading the abutment teeth, the distribution of strain through the remaining tooth substance is specific and various. Abutment teeth covered by protective copings are more resistant to loads.

Resumen
Background:Various impression techniques have been proposed for making implant prostheses. Impressions are made at implant level –closed and open tray impressions, as well as abutment level impressions. Closed and open tray copings are used to make the impressions. The limitations associated with the implant impression copings, including expensive ones, pose a significant challenge in limited mouth-opening cases, and customization of copings is not feasible.Aim: This study aimed to compare the dimensional accuracy of four impression methods, open-tray, closed-tray, disposable mount as coping and splinted mount as coping.Materials and methods:An ideal maxillary edentulous acrylic model was used with windows created at the canine and molar regions. Four analogues were implanted in the canine and molar areas to represent implants. The analogues were parallel to one other and were orientated at 0 degrees using the surveyor's assistance. Four groups were made: closed-tray, open-tray, implant mount as coping and splinted mount as coping. The custom trays were fabricated, accordingly. The implant-level impressions were made in all the groups using polyether impression material. The impressions were fitted with their respective impression copings with the analogues. The impressions were poured using die stone type-IV, and the casts were made. The resulting casts were 3D scanned, and a virtual model (.stl File) was created. Each .stl file was subjected to Geomagic software to evaluate the three-dimensional accuracy of conventional implant copings and implant mount as copings. Results:The Open-tray and the closed-tray groups exhibited the mean dimensional accuracy of 0.011±0.0016 μm and 0.018±0.0012 μm, respectively. The mount as coping and splinted mount displayed a mean dimensional accuracy of 0.017±0.0008 μm and 0.013±0.0020μm, respectively. Conclusions:This pilot study concludes that the implant mountcan be used as implant impression coping and an alternative to the conventional impression coping.

Resumen
The purpose of this study was to examine the effect reflective coping, suppressive coping, and reactive coping had on stress and indicators of well-being among Hispanic undergraduate students ( N = 177) from a Hispanic Serving Institution. Findings demonstrate that both reactive and suppressive coping had separate but important moderating effects on perceived stress and well-being outcomes. Perceived stress was also associated with both depressive symptoms and life satisfaction indirectly through copying styles.

Resumen
The article is devoted to the analysis of the results of theoretical and empirical research of students’ coping strategies and the connection of coping with the preservation of productivity and high functionality in stressful situations (in relation to the results of diagnosis of students’ procrastination). Theoretical analysis of the specifics of the effectiveness of coping strategies is presented. The empirical study involved 66 students of 2-4 courses. Diagnosis of coping tension was performed using the Ways of Coping Questionnaire, WCQ (R. Lazarus) and "Tuckman General Procrastination Scale (adapted by T. L. Kryukova)". The results of an empirical study of students' coping have been analyzed. It has been found that the most often behavioral strategies to which students apply are: planning (57.5%) and positive reassessment (56.6%); the search for social support, acceptance of responsibility and self-control are equally pronounced (31.8%); distancing, avoidance, and confrontational coping are less common. The severity and dominance of coping strategies in groups of respondents with different levels of procrastination have been analyzed. According to the results, the most developed behavioral strategies for students with low procrastination are positive reassessment and planning (the latter is more often represented by the dominant strategy). Among the group with a medium level of procrastination, these two copings are also equally pronounced. However, there is a lack of tension in other, active behavioral strategies. Among people with a high level of procrastination, the statistical predominance of one or another coping is not recorded, we widely observe the severity of only one or two strategies, or low tension of all presented copings. After analyzing the dominant copings of people with low procrastination, a hypothesis was formulated about the possible inverse correlation between the severity of positive revaluation and procrastination, the test was performed by mathematical data processing (Spearman's correlation analysis). No significant correlations were found, so the hypothesis was not confirmed. The results of empirical research can be used both to develop recommendations, developmental and educational activities aimed at preventing the decline in productivity and efficiency, and to highlight the understudied topic of the links between coping strategies and the phenomenon of procrastination.

The review article examines the basic principles of coping strategies for dealing with stress. More important coping strategies are considered. Several new copying strategies have been described, missing in the scientific literature. These strategies are often used by stressed patients without realizing that these are unhealthy coping strategies that often deepen the problems rather than solve them. The psychologist's job is to identify and discontinue them if there is a clear desire on the part of the client. Some of these copying strategies are Changing live communication with virtual communication, Acceptance of foreign culture as a way of life, Self-deception (self-delusion), Topping or giving up food.

Resumen
Coping may explain why being cyberbullied affects children’s well-being differently, though previous studies are inconclusive. This survey among 325 children focused on the role coping strategies may play in the relationship between cyberbullying and depressive feelings and health complaints. Being cyberbullied was measured with the Cyberbullying Questionnaire, general coping with the Utrecht Coping List, and cyberbullying-specific coping with a questionnaire developed for this study. Health complaints were measured with the Short Questionnaire for Experienced Health and depressive feelings with the shortened Children’s Depression Inventory. The results showed that 18.8% of the children were bullied by mobile phone and 24.1% through the internet. Correlation analyses showed strong relationships between victimization, coping, depressive feelings, and health complaints. In the regression analyses conducted in all children, victimization, general emotion-focused, and problem-focused copings had main effects on depressive feelings and health complaints; emotion-focused coping interacted with victimization in health complaints. Simple slope analyses of children with high scores on emotion-focused general coping showed a stronger positive relationship between victimization and health complaints. Regression analyses of only cyberbullied children showed that only emotion-focused cyber-specific coping was associated with more health complaints and depressive feelings.

The article presents the problem of overcoming stress by athletes at different stages of their sports career. The study involved 76 athletes aged 18-23 years, competing in various sports teams. According to the results of the identification of personal and group coping resources in athletes, a cluster analysis was carried out. The purpose of clustering is to identify possible options for regulating individual and team coping strategies. A comparison of groups that united younger and older athletes showed that the success of overcoming stress at different stages of a sports career differs in determinants and the degree of their inclusion in the process of maintaining psychological stability. At the initial stage of their career, athletes randomly involve coping resources in the fight against stress, using mainly individual coping strategies. At the peak of a sports career, the relevance of the use of individual copings decreases and the importance of team copings increases, resources are used in a balanced and reasonable manner.

Resumen
ABSTRACT This study aims to analyze coping strategies and its effect on psychological distress amongst students of CamEd Business School. A literature review was conducted to review commonly used coping strategies, their effects on psychological distress and the effect of the COVID-19 pandemic on experienced psychological distress. The study measured psychological distress and the use of coping strategies of 401 respondents from CamEd business school using the perceived stress scale and Brief-COPE. Current experienced psychological distress in this population was found to be significantly higher compared with the norm group (M = 14.2), t(400) = 29.579, p = .000. Regarding coping styles this study found that Problem focused coping was most used in this population (M = 2.69), followed by Emotional focused coping (M = 2.42) and then Avoidant coping (M = 2.08). No significant relationships were found between any of the three copings styles and psychological distress. Findings of elevated psychological distress are in line with the raise in mental health problems globally since the COVID-19 pandemic. The findings regarding coping styles suggest the cultural differences between collectivistic and individualistic cultures regarding used coping styles and its effect on psychological distress. These findings support the growing evidence of people from collectivistic cultures having different coping strategies and interactions with psychological distress compared with individualistic cultures. Resumen
Relevance. The article is an analysis of theoretical and empirical modern research in the field of coping behavior with difficult life situations (DLS) and psychological well-being of primary school children. It is stated that copings in primary school age have a pronounced age specificity. Objective. The sources of DLS and coping strategies of younger schoolchildren are systematized. Methods. Theoretical analysis of domestic and foreign studies of coping behavior with DLS in primary school age. Results. Two groups of the DLS genesis are identified in which the coping behavior of children is actualized — the first one is related to the environment (academic, natural, etc.), the second is related to interpersonal interactions (relationships with teachers, peers, etc.). Depending on the group, the corresponding coping strategies are identified. The conclusion is made firstly about the risk groups for non-coping with stress in primary school age and secondly about the need to form effective strategies that are insufficiently formed.

Objective Even though the importance of stress-coping, there is no reliable and valid scale to measure the stress-coping behavior yet. The purpose of this study is to explore the psychometric properties of Behavioral Checklist for Coping with Stress (BCCS).Methods A total of 458 subjects including healthy subjects and patients with bipolar or depressive disorders were analyzed. The reliability and validity of BCCS were examined by Chronbach’s alpha and exploratory factor analysis using Principal Component Analysis. In order to evaluate criterion-related validity, the Pearson’s correlation analyses between factors of BCCS and relevant scales were performed. Results BCCS showed good Chronobach’s alpha (0.695–0.833) and had acceptable validity. Factor 1 and factor 4 of BCCS were negatively correlated with depression, anxiety and positivity correlated with task and problem-solving, avoidance, tension-releasing copings in common. Factor 2 and 3 were positively correlated with impulsivity, emotionality, avoidance, behavioral and verbal aggression and tension-releasing copings in common. Different from factor 2, factor 3 was positively correlated with depression, anxiety and anger-suppression.Conclusion The results of this study suggest that this BCCS might be a reliable and valid scale for measuring stress-coping behaviors. This scale could facilitate research to investigate clinical implications related to behavioral stress-coping.

Resumen
The article considers the features of coping strategies in adolescence. The article aim is to study and analyze adolescents’ coping strategies and the coping features characteristic for delinquent adolescents. To achieve this goal, the authors solved the following tasks: to analyze the peculiarities of coping behavior in adolescence and to determine its connection with behavioral disorders, to identify life situations especially difficult for adolescents, to identify leading coping strategies in adolescents and to conduct comparative analysis of coping strategies used by delinquent adolescents and adolescents with normative behavior. The authors analyzed maladaptive coping strategies: confrontation strategy, escape-avoidance strategy, distancing strategy; as well as adaptive coping strategies: positive reassessment, self-control and responsibility, social support and planning. Overcoming difficult life situations requires mobilization of personal resources, which is manifested in coping strategies. Their features largely depend on personal characteristics, life experience and situational factors that determine the individual uniqueness of mastering strategies. Among the variety of coping strategies, there are emotional, cognitive and behavioral coping. The coping strategies that focus on problem solving, seeking social support and avoidance are basic. The authors conducted the study with two groups of adolescents with normative and delinquent behavior and found that adolescents with normative behavior, unlike delinquents, were not prone to aggressive efforts and risks in solving difficult situations. At the same time, delinquent adolescents were characterized by maladaptive coping strategies. Copings are aimed at adapting a person to the requirements of a situation, mitigating its requirements, avoiding or getting used to them. In general, it reduces the impact of a difficult situation, ensures and maintains an individual’s physical and mental health, well-being, and satisfaction with social relations. The obtained results indicate that adolescents with normative behavior in difficult life situations are more active in making arbitrary, problem-focused efforts to change the situation; they make more efforts to analyze ways to solve the problem than delinquent adolescents. Adolescents with normative behavior are prone to: planning, positive reassessment, self-control, acceptance of responsibility, and also have a low level of stress in copings. Delinquents clearly have a tendency to the maladaptive “avoiding problem” strategy. They are prone to confrontation, avoidance, detonation. Delinquent adolescents experience more difficult situations. The coping system of adolescents with delinquent behavior is more intense, which indicates that they experience higher levels of stress. In adolescence, coping behavior is actively formed and is a prerequisite for psychological well-being. It aims to improve adolescents’ adaptation and is manifested through a set of coping strategies. The studied causes of delinquent behavior show that they are closely related to coping strategies. When delinquency is development, maladaptive behavioral patterns are formed that prevent adequate coping with stressful situations. This is confirmed by the data obtained during the study. A comparison of coping strategies of the studied groups shows a qualitative difference in the structure of coping in difficult life situations for adolescents with normative and delinquent behavior. The data obtained will expand the understanding of the causes underlying adolescents’ destructive behavior. The authors’ study is of practical importance, its results can be used by psychologists and social educators to identify ways to optimize mental development of all adolescents and adolescents with delinquent behavior, in particular through the purposeful formation of more effective coping strategies.

Resumen
The COVID-19 pandemic has forced the human psyche to intensify the protection mechanisms and coping strategies to optimally cope with the problem situation. The aim of the article was to study the peculiarities of the use of mental defense mechanisms and coping strategies by students in quarantine isolation caused by COVID-19, and their comparison with the protections and copings used by students before the pandemic. The study involved 108 students (future psychologists and preschool teachers). The sample is homogeneous. The average age of the subjects was 18.4 years. The empirical study used the following techniques: “Ways of Coping Questionnaire” (WCQ; Folkman & Lazarus, 1988); The Life Style Index (LSI; Plutchik et al., 1979); “SVF120” (Janke & Erdmann, 1997). Methods of descriptive statistics, Spearman correlation analysis and Mann-Whitney U were used. Mathematical data processing and graphical representation of the results were performed using the computer software package SPSS 22.0. The results of our study confirmed the hypotheses of the work on the connection of protection mechanisms with copings and on the change in the quantity and quality of protection mechanisms and coping strategies in a situation caused by quarantine isolation compared to the usual life of students. In general, this suggests a mutually reinforcing effect of copings and protections in order to effectively influence the adaptation of the individual to the circumstances through COVID-19. Understanding this pattern can help improve students' mental protection by using more mature and adequate life situations in COVID-19 protections and copings.

Resumen
The microsocial factors associated with parent family, reference group, and groupmates affect the development of addictive and mixed anxiety-depressive disorders in students. Students, carriers of each of microsocial risk factors, were characterized by specific motives for psychoactive substance use and specific non-adaptive realizing coping associated with social support modules (26.1%) and prognosis of the stress situation development (21.7%). At the same time, the impact of microsocial risk factors might be weakened by adaptive moderating coping, which manifested in the modules of distraction from the stressful situation (20.6% of cases) and the emotional response to the situation (15.7%). Also, in the realizing and moderating copings, the module of rational assessment of a stressful situation (17.4% of cases for realizing coping and 14.7% for moderating coping) was of value.

Resumen
The problem of adaptation to difficult life situations is crucial for the current period of society development. The study of family coping as a support mechanism makes it possible to expand the understanding of adaptation mechanisms. The question of joint coping is connected with characteristics of social interaction, role behavior, degree of internality of the person, overcoming strategies. Cognition-based, emotion-based and behavior-based joint copings are distinguished. Family stress is the development of individual stress, with increased demands on the social and psychological resources of the family. The conducted research includes the analysis of personal features: self-relationships, coping strategies, psychological defenses, quality of life assessment, tendency to freeloading, degree of subjective control, and family features, which include factors of family environment and marital coping. The novelty of the research is associated with the definition of personal and interpersonal predictors of marital coping styles. The methods of mathematical statistics have been applied. The author concludes that the style of marital coping is associated with both the resources of the individual and the situation, and, directly, the ways of coping, which are characteristic of the individual. Resourcefulness has been studied both in terms of personal adaptation mechanisms and characteristics of family environment.

Resumen
The authors analyze various approaches to the problem of factors that determine a child’s success in the educational process. The contradictory nature of modern research on this issue is established. There is no consensus on the impact of coping strategies on a child’s academic and creative success. The purpose of the study is to determine coping strategies of teachers with various experience levels and specialties that affect the success of children in the educational process. The sample consists of 314 teachers in Irkutsk with various experience levels and specialties. The authors utilize the methods “The Ways of Coping Questionnaire” by R. Lazarus and S. Folkman, “Methodology for determining individual coping strategies” by E. Heim as well as the analysis of the teachers’ professional results submitted for certification. It is found that the success of students depends on the coping strategies used by their teachers of various experience levels and specialties. In general, students are more successful if pedagogues use productive coping mechanisms. However, in some cases, due to the specialty and experience of teaching staff, unproductive copings can be efficient for learning. For subject teachers, the “Distancing” strategy can be efficient, which is an unproductive coping strategy. At the same time, the strategy “Seeking social support”, which is a productive coping mechanism, is inefficient for teachers of additional education. The results obtained are compared with other authors’ conclusions (W.F. Admiraal, K.C. Herman, M.M. Kashapov, etc.). The authors explain the discovered features of coping mechanisms for the success of children. The limitations of the study and possible further research areas are discussed.

Resumen
Aim: To evaluate the influence of cobalt-chromium (Co-Cr) coping fabrication methods and ceramic application on the marginal and internal fit of metal-ceramic crowns. Methods: Co-Cr copings for metal-ceramic crowns were prepared by lost wax casting or CAD-CAM machining of sintered blocks. The fit was analyzed using the silicone replica technique at four assessment points: marginal gap (MG), axial wall (AW), axio-occlusal (AO) angle, and central occlusal (CO) wall. After the initial analysis, the copings were ceramic-veneered with the layering technique, and the fit was again determined. Data were statistically analyzed by paired and unpaired Student’s-t test (α=0.05). Results: Marginal and internal fit before ceramic application according to the coping manufacturing method showed significant differences only at CO (p < 0.001), with milled copings (137.98±16.71 μm) showing higher gap values than cast copings (112.86±8.57 μm). For cast copings, there were significant differences at MG (before 109.13±8.79 μm; after 102.78±7.18 μm) and CO (before 112.86±8.57 μm; after 104.07±10.63 μm) when comparing the fit before and after ceramic firing. For milled copings, there was significant difference only at AO (before 116.39±9.64 μm; after 108.54±9.26 μm). Conclusion: This study demonstrated that the coping fabrication method influenced the internal fit. Ceramic firing maintained or improved the fit of the metal-ceramic crowns. The marginal discrepancy of all restorations, before and after ceramic firing, can be considered clinically acceptable.

Resumen
This study examined the effectiveness of the reported coping responses utilized by 318 U.S. and 404 Korean athletes based on the Outcome model (i.e., considers perceived immediate and long-term outcomes) and the Goodness-of-Fit model (i.e., considers the fit between situational appraisal and coping strategies employed). Intercollegiate athletes provided information regarding frequency of psychological difficulties experienced during competition, their perceived controllability over such difficulties, and the reported coping strategies utilized to counter this particular stressor. Recursive path analyses revealed that both Active/Problem-Focused and Avoidance/Withdrawal coping were deemed immediately effective during competition. Active/Problem-Focused and Avoidance/Withdrawal coping strategies were, respectively, positively and negatively associated with all three long-term variables. Results partially supported the Goodness-of-Fit model among both Korean and U.S. athletes.

Resumen
Purpose – The aim of the study was to examine whether five-star hotel employees’ promotion focus significantly influences their task-coping style, and whether their prevention focus has a significant effect on their emotion- and avoidance-coping styles. This study also investigates the moderating impact of employees’ tenure on the relationships between stress-coping styles and turnover intent. Design/methodology/approach – A total of 342 five-star hotel employees in South Korea participated in the study using a self-administered questionnaire. Confirmatory factor analysis and structural equation modeling were used to examine the hypothesized relationships between the constructs. Findings – Hotel employees’ turnover intent decreases when they are motivated by strategies corresponding to their regulatory focus. This study found that hotel employees’ promotion focus had a significant positive effect on their task-coping style, whereas prevention focus had a significant negative effect on the emotion- and avoidance-coping style. In addition, employees’ task-coping style negatively affected their intent to leave the organization, while their emotion-coping and avoidance-coping styles positively affected turnover intent. Finally, moderating effects were related to tenure in the causal relationships among stress-coping styles and turnover intent. Thus, one can infer that the emotion-coping style has a greater effect on turnover intent in employees with a relatively short tenure than in those with a long tenure. Practical implications – This study verified that hotel employees’ regulatory focus plays an important role in employee behavior within organizations just as individual characteristics such as personality or values do. Thus, a substantial application plan for employees’ regulatory focus was proposed for the organizational dimension. In addition, diverse plans were presented for employees’ flexible coping with stress, based on differing turnover intent, depending on employees’ stress-coping styles. Through this, a plan for reducing employee turnover intent was pursued. Originality/value – This study associated employees’ stress-coping styles, which had been dealt with in the human resources management area, with their regulatory focus and showed that different stress-coping styles might be derived using such regulatory focus; the resulting turnover intent might also be different. The study results can provide a theoretical basis for understanding relationships among regulatory focus, stress-copying styles and turnover intent as such research is relatively lacking. Finally, this study is meaningful in that it applied the regulatory focus theory centered on customer behaviors to employees and verified the moderating effect of employees’ tenure between stress-coping styles and turnover intent.

Dengan informasi mengenai pengelolaan stress akademik melalui coping stress mahasiswa diharapkan lebih peduli dan sadar sehingga dapat mengurangi tekanan psikologis dalam menghadapi pembelajaran online dimasa pandemi covid-19.____________________________________________________________This literature study was compiled with the aim of explaining the conditions of academic stress and the coping done by students to overcome academic stress in online learning during the covid-19 pandemic. In reviewing several journals regarding student academic stress, it was found that the pandemic and changes that occurred in the learning process had increased student academic stress. Many problems arise as a result of increased academic stress. To overcome this, students need to do stress coping strategies to reduce feelings of stress that occur. Coping is interpreted as an individual's effort to be able to overcome the stress that comes to him through cognitive or behavioral changes in order to gain a feeling of security in himself. Coping stress can be done in two ways, namely: 1) Problem focused coping that changes or eliminates stressors and reduces the impact of stress through the individual's own actions, and 2) Emotional focused coping, namely by changing the way individuals emotionally react to stressors. With information on managing academic stress through coping with stress, students are expected to be more concerned and aware so that they can reduce psychological pressure in dealing with online learning during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The recent literature on self‐report measures of coping reactions and strategies is reviewed and critically evaluated. Most of the coping research has focused on assessing several basic coping behaviours or reactions. These include dimensions such as task‐oriented coping, emotion‐oriented coping, and avoidance‐oriented coping. In general, most of the coping scales that have been developed have a variety of psychometric inadequacies. This state of affairs has created at least two major problems in the coping literature: (1) The proliferation of problematic coping scales, sometimes measuring different constructs, makes it difficult to generalize from one population and/or one health problem to another. (2) Since psychometrically sound instruments are a precondition for studying the relationships among coping, personality, and health, scales with psychometric problems preclude obtaining valid and generalizable information about coping behaviour. Methodological problems in the area have seriously restricted the development of a systematic body of theory and empirical knowledge about coping.

Resumen
Stress and coping in couples are increasingly conceptualized as dyadic phenomena. One tool for the assessment of dyadic coping processes in couples is the Dyadic Coping Inventory (DCI), a further development of the formerly used Dyadic Coping Questionnaire (FDCT-N, Bodenmann 2000). The psychometrics of the Dyadic Coping Inventory (DCI) have been examined in a large validation study involving a total of N = 2,399 subjects. The results provide empirical evidence for the quality of the test. The theoretically postulated dimensions of dyadic coping were empirically supported by factor analyses. The internal consistencies of the total scale and the different subscales were good. The test-retest-correlation reveals that the questionnaire is sensitive for change. The construct validity is given, the criterion validity satisfactory. Furthermore cut-off criteria are presented to differentiate between couples depending on their quality of dyadic coping. The DCI is suitable for clinical research (e.g. intervention research), couples diagnostic, evaluation of couples therapy, developmental or health psychology.

The aim of the empirical study was to determine whether anxiety/avoidance with mother, father and partner is related to coping strategies repertoire and to coping flexibility. Another aim was to determine whether the coping strategies repertoire mediate the relationship between attachment in adulthood and stress appraisal. The research sample included 417 college students from 19 to 30 years old. Coping strategy repertoire and stress appraisal were assessed by personally-designed set of vignettes. Coping flexibility was measured by Coping Flexibility Scale (Kato, 2012) and attachment was assessed by Relationship Structures Questionnaire (ECR-RS; Fraley et al., 2011). Regression analysis discovered the positive relationship between avoidance with parents and coping strategies repertoire and negative relationship between avoidance with father and adaptive coping. Coping strategies repertoire did not mediate the relationship between attachment in adulthood and stress appraisal.

Resumen

The aim of this study was to describe the anxiety responses and coping strategies used by competitive judokas of different sex category, level of performance, experience and age category. The sample was composed of 58 competitive Spanish judokas. They completed a battery of test composed by a socio-demographic questionnaire, the CSAI-2R and the ISRA-B, responses version, to evaluate anxiety. Finally, we used the ISCCS to evaluate the judokas’ coping strategies. The results showed that women, low performance judokas, experienced judokas and the top age categories (junior and senior) presented high levels of anxiety and lower auto confidence. Correlational analysis showed that judokas’ most used strategies were task oriented coping (TOC), though with high levels of anxiety they choose emotional oriented coping (EOC), which the scientific literature does not associate with good performance. In addition, high levels of auto confidence correlated positively with distraction-oriented coping (DOC). The practical implication of this work relates to the usefulness of this information for the improvement and optimization of competitive judokas’ copying strategies.
