This Ph.D. dissertation provides with some contributions to the construction of a theory of paratext of the translated book. The theory of paratext is mainly based on the seminal work by Gérard Genette, Seuils, in which the author doesn t enter the field of this kind of paratext. Therefore, this dissertation aims at complementing the theorization by Genette, focusing on the analysis of translators prefaces/postfaces and, among them, of prefaces/postfaces in which translators talk about the translation and their translation project. The theory approaches employed in this work came from Translation Studies, Translation Historiography and the Theory of Textual/Discoursive Genres, based on data gathered in the research of a corpus compounded of French literary works translated in Brazil and published since the middle of the 20th century. The books selected to be examined are part of the collection of the Brazilian National Library, located in Rio de Janeiro, mainly.

Texto completoThis dissertation introduces in its first part the field of signal processing on graphs. We start by reminding the required elements from linear algebra and spectral graph theory. Then, we define signal processing on graphs and give intuitions on its strengths and weaknesses compared to classical signal processing. In the second part, we introduce our contributions to the field. Chapter 4 aims at the study of structural properties of graphs using classical signal processing through a transformation from graphs to time series. Doing so, we take advantage of a unified method of semi-supervised learning on graphs dedicated to classification to obtain a smooth time series. Finally, we show that we can recognize in our method a smoothing operator on graph signals. Chapter 5 introduces a new translation operator on graphs defined by analogy to the classical time shift operator and verifying the key property of isometry. Our operator is compared to the two operators of the literature and its action is empirically described on several graphs. Chapter 6 describes the use of the operator above to define stationary graph signals. After giving a spectral characterization of these graph signals, we give a method to study and test stationarity on real graph signals. The closing chapter shows the strength of the matlab toolbox developed and used during the course of this PhD

Texto completoThe number of medical translations to Spanish is constantly increasing. However, specialized translators in this field are not enough to meet the needs of the market according to the different surveys carried out in recent years by Spanish researchers. Considering the lack of empirical studies on the teaching-learning of medical translation, as well as that of specialized translation, we looked at ways to bring university courses closer to the current conditions of professional activity. For this reason, the purpose of the present thesis is intended to be a contribution to the didactics of specialized translation, especially French-Spanish medical translation, by creating a teaching-learning method that will allow transfer of professional skills for translators listed by the EMT Expert Group (European Master's in Translation)

Texto completoThe central thought of the present work is the "principium redendae rationis sufficientis", the translation of which Heidegger himself dealt with in his reflections on translation, but without drawing these in relation to the issue of translation. In other words, we raise the following question: If something like translation is possible, what is then the decisive reason and why is translation more likely possible than impossible? The question with regard to the possibility of translation in the sense of ratio sufficiens enquires about the essence of translation as a specific location in which identity, but also non-identity, are simultaneously problematized and thematised. In order to elucidate our initial question, we refer to Edmund Husserl’s phenomenology. Irrespective of the fact that Husserl himself thought of a such possibility of translation, as we intend to show, the interest of Husserl’s phenomenology for a theory of translation consists in offering a formidable instrument of linguistic analysis whose specificity does not rely on a purely formal analysis, but on an analysis of form deriving from the content of consciousness, in which each form, according to the intentional mode of consciousness, is either disposing of its conscious equivalent or is explicable through a such content. The idea and the possibility of a phenomenological translation research is to carry out in this present work starting from the investigation of a such consciousness, that presents itself at the same time as a translation-consciousness

Texto completoAminoacyl-tRNA synthetases (aaRSs) are housekeeping enzymes involved in translation. In human cells, 2 different sets of nuclear genes code for aaRSs. One codes for cytosolic (cyt) aaRSs, and the second one codes for aaRSs of mitochondrial (mt) location. Mt-aaRSs are translated in the cytosol, targeted and imported into mitochondria.Mutations in 9 mt-aaRSs have been described. Some of the mutations do not display significant influence on the housekeeping aminoacylation activity. It has been proposed that those mutations affect alternative functions.Alternate functions have been described for cyt-aaRSs. While the organization of cyt-aaRSs is explored and their involvement into alternate functions established, the properties of the human mt-aaRSs remain unknown. On one site, this thesis integrate mt-AspRS into new functional networks (sub-mitochondrial localization and partnership). On the other site, it expand the view of the sub-mitochondrial organization to the full set of mt-aaRSs and should ultimately shed light into the molecular mechanisms underlying some of the pathologies. These results open the door for additional investigations to gain a complete view about the sub-mitochondrial organization of aaRSs. Those contributions will be of help for the understanding of molecular mechanisms underlying some mitochondrial disorders

Texto completoComputing units embedded into modern integrated systems are com-plex, heterogeneous and numerous. Simulation widely used during both software and hardware designof these systems is becoming a real challenge. The simulator performance ismainly driven by the processors instruction set simulation approach, among which Dynamic BinaryTranslation (DBT) is one of the most promising technique. DBT aims at transla-ting on the fly instructions of the simulated processor (the target) into instructions that canbe understood by the computer running the simulation (the host). This technique is fast, but designing a simulator based on it is complex. Indeed, the number of target architecturesis limited, and furthermore, implementing a simulator is a complicated process because oflong and error prone development. This PhD contributes to solve two major issues. The first contribution tackles the problem ofsupporting Very Long Instruction Word (VLIW) architectures as simulation targets,by studying their architecture peculiarities with regards to DBT. Some of these specificities, like explicit instruction parallelism make the translation to scalar hosts nontrivial. Thesolutions we propose bring simulation speed gains of two orders of magnitude compared tointerpreter based simulators. The second contribution addresses the problem of automaticgeneration of DBT based simulators. With both target and host architectural descriptions,we produce a simulator optimised for this pair. This optimisation is done with an instructionsmatching process that finds host instruction candidates to simulate a target instruction.Although being experimental, our generator gives very promising results. It is able toproduce a simulator for the MIPS architecture whose performances are close to a hand writtenimplementation

Texto completoBRAFV600- inhibitors, including vemurafenib, are efficient against tumors harboring this MAPK pathway activating mutation, which is the case of ~50% of melanomas. But most of the patients under treatment progress within a year, and develop paradoxical secondary tumors. Most resistance mechanisms to drugs that target the BRAF and/or MEK kinases in cancer rely on reactivation of the RAS-RAF-MEK-ERK signal transduction pathway (ERK-dependent), on activation of the alternative PI3K-AKT-mTOR pathway (ERK-independent) or on modulation of the caspase-dependent apoptotic cascade. All three pathways converge to regulate the formation of the eIF4F translation initiation complex that binds to the 7-methyl-guanine cap at the 5’ end of mRNAs, thereby modulating mRNA translation of specific mRNAs. We show here that persistent formation of the eIF4F complex, comprising the eIF4E cap binding protein, the eIF4G scaffolding protein and the eIF4A RNA helicase, is associated with resistance to anti-BRAF, anti-MEK and to anti-BRAF + anti-MEK combinations in BRAFV600- mutant melanoma, colon and thyroid cell lines. Unresponsiveness to treatment and maintenance of eIF4F complex formation is associated with either reactivation of MAPK signaling or absence of ERK-independent decreased phosphorylation of the inhibitory eiF4E binding protein 4EBP1 or increased pro-apoptotic Bcl-2 modifying factor (BMF)-dependent degradation of eIF4G. Development of an in situ method shows by proximity ligation assay (PLA) that the formation of the eIF4F complex is decreased in tumors responding to anti-BRAF therapy and increased in resistant metastases. Strikingly, inhibiting the eIF4F complex, either by blocking the eIF4E-eIF4G interaction or by targeting eIF4A with small compounds is synergistic with BRAFV600- inhibition. The other main problem arising during anti-BRAF treatment is the frequent induction of secondary cutaneous and extra-cutaneous tumors, through the formation of BRAF-CRAF dimers that we visualized in vivo for the first time. In conclusion, we have identified by PLA a novel biomarker of resistance against BRAF inhibitors, which is also a promising therapeutic target. Combinations of drugs targeting BRAF (and/or MEK) and eIF4F may overcome most of the resistance mechanisms arising in BRAFV600- cancers. In parallel, we established a BRAF-CRAF PLA method in paradoxical secondary tumors induced by BRAF inhibitors, leading to the identification of several subpopulations more at risk of developing this type of tumors

Texto completoAsymmetric distribution of mRNA and proteins inside a cell defines polarity, which allow tight regulation of gene expression in space and time. In this thesis I investigated how asymmetric distribution characterizes the somatic and neuritic compartments of in induced neurons, in terms of transcriptome and translatome. Spatial ribosome profiling analysis revealed that half of the local proteome is defined by mRNA localization and local translation. These, are processes accomplished by the synergistic activity of trans- and cis-acting elements. I focused on MOV10 as trans-acting element, and on alternative 3′UTRs as cis-elements, to investigate their role in asymmetry. MOV10 is an RNA helicase which participates to many aspects of RNA metabolism. With RIP and PAR-CLIP I showed that MOV10 targets are localized to the neurites, consistently with MOV10-neuritic localization, and that MOV10 might be involved in translational repression. Indeed, among MOV10 protein interactors, I identified several proteins involved in translational repression, i.e. AGO2, FMR1, and TRIM71. On the side of cis-elements, I performed mapping of alternative 3′UTRs. This analysis identified several genes expressing differentially localized 3′UTR isoforms. In particular, I focused on Cdc42. I showed that the two isoforms of Cdc42 are differentially localized at mRNA level, and that the 3′UTR is the driver of mRNA and protein localization. Moreover, I identified several RBPs that might be involved in Cdc42 localization. This analysis points to usage of alternative 3′UTR isoforms as a novel mechanism to provide for differential localization of functionally diverse alternative protein isoforms.

Texto completoIn 19th century Latin America, the practice of translation must be understood in a post-colonial context of the construction of national literatures. Sociology of translation and polysystem theory have highlighted how translation contributes to enriching the literary repertoire of a recipient culture by allowing the accumulation of symbolic capital. Our research focuses on the practices and trajectories of fourteen Latin American poet-translators who have been relatively under-studied or are in the process of recent critical re-evaluation: Ignacio Mariscal, Rafael Pombo, Miguel Antonio Caro, Antonio Sellén, Antonio José Restrepo, Raimundo Correia, Rosendo Villalobos, Leopoldo Díaz, Ismael Enrique Arciniegas, Balbino Dávalos, Enrique González Martínez, Guillermo Valencia, Eduardo Díez de Medina and Álvaro Reis. These poet-translators collectively belong to the movements of Latin American Romanticism, Spanish-speaking American Modernism, and Brazilian Parnassianism. Each of them produced poetry translations: classical poets (such as Horace) but also increasingly European and American Modern poets (Hugo, Heredia, Longfellow...); authors considered canonical (Baudelaire, Goethe, Poe), and others largely forgotten (Prudhomme, Richepin, Rollinat...). The poetic dialogue established with prestigious international figures allowed these poet-translators to legitimize their national languages following the Latin American independence era, and also enabled them to experiment with new meters, themes and tonalities. Our authors published their translations in journals, which was a common practice; but especially in poetry collections, which was less common. Our corpus therefore highlights two types of volumes which have not been formally defined and classified: a hybrid form, composed of original and translated poems; and a form composed solely of translations. These two forms have commonalities with poetry volumes in the original language, writer's anthologies, or foreign literature anthologies, but do not correspond entirely to any of them. The uniqueness of our poetry volumes consists in the unity and identity of the subject who selects, translates and reorders foreign texts within his book. We therefore consider the Latin American poet-translator from the figure of the collector, who decontextualizes foreign texts and recontextualizes them in a new series — the book — allowing him to project and build his poetic authority. As our authors were all involved in the political sphere (as deputies, judges, even presidents), we will demonstrate that the collections of translators can contribute to the construction of political projects, and that there is both a liberal use of foreign poetry as well as a conservative use

Texto completoThis thesis aims at studying the constitution of a speech on the dignity of the French language, as well as on the possibility of illustrating it, inside the forewords of translations from Italian executed between 1530 and 1560.After an introduction on the evolution of the critical notion of Italianism, an analysis of different paratexts allows to identify some topical elements typical in the translations of Italian, as well as the presence of a paradoxical situation inside the forewords of these translations, as the translators give shape to a very voluntarist speech on the enrichment of the national idiom, led however on the basis of works issued from another vernacular culture. Therefore, we try to describe the strategies adopted by the translators to break the deadlock.Starting from some observations of Sébillet about the necessity of following an Italian model of translation into vernacular for the progress of French, we analyze the forewords of some literary works of philosophic inspiration, which insist on the presence of an « italian model » for transmission of knowledge as well as on weakness of the French lexicon in this domain and on the value of the translations to fill these deficiencies. We verify then the existence of this "Italian model" by a study of the book production in Venice and Florence. The last part of the thesis proposes the detailed analysis of two paratexts : that of the translation of the Orlando Furioso appeared in Lyon in 1543 and that of Decameron by Antoine The Maçon (1545), which show themselves as exemples of the dynamics of appropriation and literary competition which emerge from forewords of the translations from Italian

Texto completoThis study covers the Greek translations of French literature and their presence in the Greek literary world during the entire twentieth century and at the dawn of the twenty-first. The finding that translations play a crucial role in the absorption of this literature in Greece, and that, to date, their recording within the examined period is fragmented, set a research goal for the fullest possible, accurate and documented recording of any Greek translations of works of French literature (prose - plays - poetry), published in our country in the period from 1900 to 2010.The quantitative and qualitative processing of certain parameters, such as the year of publication of a translation, the translated author, the translator, the translated work and the publisher, as well as the relevant conclusions, intend to contribute to the presentation and overview of the overall image of this translation sector

Texto completoSince the law was voted the 11-02-2005 for equal rights and opportunities: places open to anyone (public places, shops, internet, etc.) should welcome the Deaf in French Sign Language (FSL). We have worked on the development of technological tools to promote LSF, especially in machine translation from written French to FSL.Our thesis begins with a presentation of knowledge on FSL (theoretical resources and ways to edit FSL) and follows by further concepts of descriptive grammar. Our working hypothesis is: FSL is a language and, therefore, machine translation is relevant. We describe the language specifications for automatic processing, based on scientific knowledge and proposals of our native FSL speaker informants. We also expose our methodology, and do present the advancement of our work in the formalization of linguistic data based on the specificities of FSL which certain (verbs scheme, adjective and adverb modification, organization of nouns, agreement patterns) require further analysis. We do present the application framework in which we worked on: the machine translation system and virtual characters animation system of France Telecom R&D.After a short avatar technology presentation, we explain our control modalities of the gesture synthesis engine through the exchange format that we developed. Finally, we conclude with an evaluation, researches and developments perspectives that could follow this thesis. Our approach has produced its first results since we have achieved our goal of running the full translation chain: from the input of a sentence in French to the realization of the corresponding sentence in FSL with a synthetic character

Texto completoProspecting, attracting, locating and anchoring foreign direct investment (FDI) projects in a country is now a major challenge for economic and political leaders. Public management actors (technicians, elected officials, citizens) then question themselves on the type of management and territorial economic intelligence to be implemented in order to facilitate the anchoring of these projects. The literature on this subject is rich in research on attractiveness factors and the determinants of location but has been very little addressed from the perspective of management sciences. In order to understand the reasons for the success or failure of the implementation of such projects, it is then relevant to question the process of territorial public management in order to understand what underlies the implementation and anchoring of an FDI project during its life cycle. Based on qualitative case studies, we study the links between the process of implementing an FDI project and its inclusion in the territorial ecosystem for i. a Chinese project in France in the telecommunications sector and ii. a South Korean project in Brazil in the semi-conductor sector. On the basis of an initial historical study produced using primary and secondary public sources as well as confirmatory interviews with involved stakeholders, we propose secondary analyses from the perspective of translation sociology associated with the "strategy as practice" framework. By challenging a traditionally linear view of the project life cycle and identifying key managerial events and practices, we better understand the process and how territories demonstrate, or not, strategic agility. Relations between universities, companies and government are also analysed in terms of supporting territorial attractiveness. Considering the attractiveness of FDI projects from a collaborative perspective thus provides new empirical evidence and explanations of the phenomenon. We can then propose the following managerial implications: i. the use of a triple helix strategy is an attractive factor for the location of an exogenous investment, ii. the entrepreneurial university is an attractive factor when locating an exogenous investment and iii. contemporary public policies must be involved in complex networks with the community to successfully locate and anchor an exogenous investment

Texto completoThis thesis intends to offer a “traductological critique” of the first complete translation of the Divan of Hafiz in French, which, upon its publication, aroused both admiration and criticism and earned its translator, Charles-Henri de Fouchécour, several literary awards and titles. In the first part, entitled "In Search of the translator," we focus on C. H. de Fouchécour as a researcher and specialist in classical Persian literature and translator of the Divan of Hafiz. In the first chapter, we examine his career from its beginning, to reveal how he approaches and presents Persian works. The second chapter is devoted to the translator that is C. H. de Fouchécour and reveals how he conceives translation, the specific perspective he adopted to translate the Divan of Hafiz and finally his “horizon traductif”, in other words the situation of the poetic translation in France and especially the history of the translation of Hafiz’s poems in French. The second part of this research, "Translation and poetry", is devoted to the source text and the translated text; that is to say, in the third chapter, we present a new reading of the Hafizian thought, paying a special attention to the form of his poetry. In the fourth chapter, having established a three-dimensional method of comparison, based to the reading presented in the previous chapter, we compare five ghazals of Hafiz with their French translations by A. Guy, G. Lazard and C. H. de Fouchécour
Zach, Matthias. "Traduction littéraire et création poétique : Yves Bonnefoy et Paul Celan traducteurs de Shakespeare". Thesis, Paris 3, 2011. http://www.theses.fr/2011PA030073.
Texto completoAuthor-translators are key actors of literary life, whose oeuvre exemplifies the complex interactions inherent in literary creation and in cultural formations in general. To concentrate on this figure makes it possible to combine close textual analysis with the investigation of the dynamics of cultural exchange. The present thesis studies the work of two emblematic 20th-century poet-translators: Yves Bonnefoy’sand Paul Celan’s Shakespeare translations are presented and analysed in their role for the poetics of both authors. The thesis draws essentially on close readings of a choice of translations, but it also takes into account other sources which help elucidate the Shakespeare reception of the two poets. While Celan insists on the irreducible difference between original and translation, Bonnefoy’s Shakespeare reception consists of a process of identification. For both poets, however, Shakespeare translation is essentially an auto-reflexive affair: through their confrontation with Shakespeare,Bonnefoy and Celan develop their poetic projects and position themselves in their own historical contexts. In both cases, therefore, Shakespeare translation results in a specific fusion of voices, which integrates Shakespeare into the author-translator’s own poetic universe
Sebotsa, Mosisili. "La contribution de la traduction à l'expansion lexicale du sesotho". Thesis, Lyon, 2016. http://www.theses.fr/2016LYSE2121/document.
Texto completoWhilst translation is simply defined as a communication process whose main objective is to reproduce in the target language a text that is functionally equivalent to the source text (Reiss 2004: 168-169), the approach taken in this study views translation as an intercultural and systematic operation whose objective is to capture the message from the foreign language, to decrypt it taking into account cultural nuances or those inherent in the field at hand and to render it in the clearest possible manner using linguistic and extra linguistic elements which are comprehensible to the speaker of the target language. This study is aimed at determining the contribution of translation to the lexical expansion of Sesotho, an area which has been little explored by specialists of the language. The core issue is centred on the observation that Sesotho neologisms are not well documented, so that it is hard to measure the contribution of translation towards the lexical expansion of Sesotho. Analyses of morphology, derivation, compounding, borrowing and denomination are mainly focused on productivity in order to determine whether translation as a discipline contributes towards the creation of new words in the language. The study begins by positing the hypothesis that the interaction with the Western world necessitated the translation of numerous concepts which were absent from the then existing Sesotho systems. This process of interaction contributed a new dynamism that helped the language to bridge the terminological gap, to open up and adapt to new realities. In order to put this hypothesis to the test and arrive at well-researched and reliable conclusions, I attempt to probe three issues of concern: firstly, what is the structure of the Sesotho language compared to that of the English language as the source language of most translations into Sesotho and compared to that of the French language as the language in which this study is presented? Secondly, considering that Sesotho is used simultaneously with English even though it is not a techno-scientifically inventing language, what is the role played by the processes of borrowing in the lexical expansion of Sesotho? Thirdly, from the word-formation point of view, how does Sesotho respond to the terminological deficiencies in various fields of specialisation? To address these issues, Doke (1954) and Matšela et al. (1981) serve as references to situate Sesotho among the Bantu languages, to highlight the functions of the class prefix and to establish the difference between Sesotho and English and French compounding. Secondly, the theory advanced by Lederer (1990) serves as a springboard to analyse the syntactic, semantic and morphological influences that English has on Sesotho and to present the different borrowing processes. The third issue is addressed based on the theories presented by Diki-Kidiri (2008) while the theories proposed by Dispaldro et al. (2010) and Baboya (2008) led to the decision to call upon specialist informants to confirm the original hypothesis. The results obtained provide evidence that translation has, in fact, contributed to the lexical expansion of modern Sesotho, even though this has not been well documented. The study recommends collaborative work between Lesotho, Botswana, Namibian and South African linguists in order to open new avenues of linguistic studies on Sesotho with the aim to measure and monitor the evolution of the language

Texto completoHuman mitochondrial aminoacyl-tRNA synthetases (mt-aaRSs) are housekeeping enzymes involved in the mitochondrial translation. They catalyze the aminoacylation of tRNAs with their cognate amino acids. Mutations in their nuclear genes are correlated with pathologies with a broad spectrum of clinical phenotypes, but with so far no clear explanations about the underlying molecular mechanism(s). The aim of this PhD work follows the long-standing efforts of the host laboratory but expand the interest and knowledge to an unexplored system: the human mitochondrial arginyl-tRNA synthetase (mt-ArgRS). Mutations in the mt-ArgRS lead to Pontocebellar hypoplasia type 6, a severe neuro-developmental pathology. I thus contributed to i) comprehensively analyze the clinical data reported in pathologies related to mutations on mt-aaRSs, resulting in a categorization according to the affected anatomical system; ii) decipher some cellular properties of the mt-ArgRS; and iii) investigate to impact of disease-associated mutations on mt-aaRSs properties. Combined with previous works, the present results expand the knowledge of the mt-aaRSs, shedding new light on the link between mt-aaRSs-mutations and disease

Texto completoThe tissue response of patients undergoing radiotherapy, despite identical treatment protocols, could have important variations. One of the questions asked to the radiobiology is to explain these variations (a posteriori approach) and if possible to predict it (a priori approach). The response of an organism and complex tissues to radiotherapy is the result of many determinants. Some belong to the tissue dynamics and homeostasis (inflammation, cytokines, etc.) and others to the sensitivity and cellular response (intrinsic sensitivity, DNA repair, regulation of cell death, etc.). About cellular determinants, our research team proposed to classify humans into three groups of different radiosensitivity levels, the first considered as normal is by far the largest (almost 75% of individuals), group II of intermediate radiosensitivity represents the majority of individuals having an abnormal response to radiotherapy. Group III gathers extremely rare conditions associated with marked or very marked hyper-radiosensitivity which are usually life threatening. Therefore patients in group II show either unexpected therapeutic response or severe radiation early or late side effects after doses for which normal tolerance is expected. Patients in group II can also be characterized by a strong predisposition to cancer and radiation-induced tumors. There is an inherent variability related to endogenous factors, such as the quality of DNA repair, or the spontaneous production of micronuclei; and exogenous factors. In this regard, certain medications may alter the cellular response to radiation therapy, such as statins, antiplatelet agents or anticoagulants. A posteriori approach: a single-center clinical study of 68 patients with prostate cancer treated by the same radiation oncologist in the same conditions, the frequency and severity of rectal side effects are compared to the use or not of statins : a radioprotective effect of statins toward radiation proctitis cannot be excluded. A priori approach: by studying the cellular and molecular radiation response in human fibroblasts (especially from healthy bowel tissue). Were studied: signaling and repair of DNA double-strand breaks by analysis of nuclear foci of MRE11; H2AX and pATM; radiation induced ATM protein transit from the cytoplasm to the nucleus was observed for the first time in rectal tissue fibroblasts. Statins appear to speed up this transit, making possible a radioprotective effect. These results open perspectives for further studies for the use of medications readily available that can modulate the severity of side effects of radiotherapy

Texto completoAn important philosophical treaty written by Alfonso de Madrigal, also known as “El Tostado” (1401/1410-1454), the Breuiloquium de amore et amicitia sums up both the classical and the Christian conceptions of love of every kind (spiritual, physical, familial, carnal, lustful) and friendship (virtuous, political), brought together within a text that is a juxtaposition of academic exercises and of lectures given by El Tostado at the Faculty of Arts of Salamanca. This Ph. D. thesis is a critical edition of the first part of this treaty (the one dealing with love), founded on two remaining manuscripts of a text that to this day has never been published. The commentary that comes along with the edition aims at understanding the central role played by El Tostado’s love theory in the underlying logic of his treaty but also within his entire work. This commentary also seeks to grasp the construction of this love theory in the double context of the Salmantine teaching and of the diffusion of a university culture into John II’s court, at a moment when some first form of Castilian humanism was rising. Finally, this thesis tries to figure out if the Breuiloquium is a translation or an auto-translation (as stated in the prologue), and thus to understand the treaty from the point of view of the history of translations, precisely when translating reached a whole new degree of importance. The confrontation between a theoretical discourse about translation –that El Tostado formalised in a later text– and its practical dimensions in the translation from Latin to Castilian is the base upon which our traductological analysis is founded
Scimone, Alessandra. "Galenus Latinus : la traduction du De causis pulsuum par Burgundio de Pise : introduction, édition critique et indices". Thesis, Reims, 2021. http://www.theses.fr/2021REIML002.
Texto completoThis dissertation consists of five chapters and two appendices and provides the critical edition of the Latin version of Galen’s treatise De causis pulsuum by Burgundio of Pisa (XII c.). After a general overview on the Greek text and on the impact of the galenic science of pulse in the West during the XII c., it follows the translator’s profile and an introduction to his version, limited just to the books III-IV (lemmatique commentary about the De pulsibus ad tirones). A reflection on the translator’s method and on the links of interdependence between his versions of De causis and Ad tirones leads to a dating proposal into the relative chronology of his work. Then, I was able to confirm the dependence of the Latin version from the Greek text of the ms. Laur. plut. 74.18, whose description is enriched with the analysis of the notes by B. and “B”, colleague of the scribe Ioannikios. Thereafter, it comes a brief description of the twenty-five Latin witnesses and the analysis of the stemma of the manuscript tradition. The dissertation culminates in the critic edition, in which the Latin text is in synopsis with the transcription of the Laur. plut. 74.18 (in apparatus the variants relative to Kühn’s edition). There are also two appendices: the first includes the differences between the translation and the Greek exemplar and the exhaustive apparatus of the Latin text; the second provides a census of the witnesses and a working text of the translation of the Ad tirones in synopsis with the transcription of the Greek exemplar, the Laur. plut. 75.5. The dissertation ends with Greek-Latin and Latin-Greek correspondances of the De causis pulsuum and the De pulsibus ad tirones
