Resumen
Abstract. Focus switching in working memory involves accessing an object in the focus of attention in order to retrieve its content. Objects in working memory can be viewed as consisting of two types of information: contents (e.g., numerical information) and contexts (e.g., cues to retrieve the contents). This study examined the extent to which content retrieval and context access may be separated. Three experiments were carried out in which object switching and content retrieval were manipulated. In addition, the alternation between the retrieval operations was also manipulated. The main result was that content retrieval required time over and above that needed to access the object. This finding supports the idea that contexts and their contents may be accessed independently when an object is brought into the focus.

Resumen
NDN is one of the new emerging future internet architectures which brings up new solutions over today’s internet architecture, facilitating content distribution, in-network caching, mobility support, and multicast forwarding. NDNs ubiquitous in-network caching allows consumers to access data directly from the intermediate router’s cache. However, it opens content privacy problems since data packets replicated in the router are always accessible by every consumer. Sensitive contents in the routers should be protected and accessed only by authorized consumers. Although the content protection problem can be solved by applying an encryption-based access control policy, it still needs an efficient content distribution scheme with lower computational overhead and content retrieval time. We propose an efficient and secure content distribution (ES_CD), by combining symmetric encryption and identity-based proxy re-encryption. The analysis shows that our proposed scheme achieves content retrieval time reduction up to 20% for the cached contents in our network simulation environment and a slight computational overhead of less than 19 ms at the content producer and 9 ms at the consumer for 2 KB content. ES_CD provides content confidentiality and ensures only legitimate consumers can access the contents during a predefined time without requiring a trusted third party and keeping the content producer always online.

Resumen
Image-processing programs are used to identify and classify eukaryotic cell colonies as spots following seeding at low density on dishes or in multiwell plates. The output from such approaches, however, is generally limited to 1–2 parameters, and there is no ability to extract phenotypic information at the single colony level. Furthermore, there is a lack of user-friendly pipelines for analysis of clonogenicity in the context of high-content analysis. This article describes an experimental and multiparametric image analysis workflow for clonogenic assays in multiwell format, named the Colony Assay Toolbox (CAT). CAT incorporates a cellular-level resolution of individual colonies and facilitates the extraction of phenotypic information, including the number and size of colonies and nuclei, as well as morphological parameters associated with each structure. Furthermore, the pipeline is capable of discriminating between colonies composed of senescent and nonsenescent cells. We demonstrate the accuracy and flexibility of CAT by interrogating the effects of 2 preclinical compounds, Nutlin-3a and ABT-737, on the growth of human osteosarcoma cells. CAT is accessible to virtually all laboratories because it uses common wide-field fluorescent microscopes, the open-source CellProfiler program for colony image analysis, and a single fluorescent dye for all the segmentation steps.

Resumen
In order to improve end users' Web access experiences, today's Internet content providers generally employ Content Delivery Networks (CDNs) to provide material to end users. To comprehend reasons, methods, and amounts of CP-level intelligences may aid content distribution, we employ a measurement-based approach. The largest content provider in China, Tencent, constructed a CDN, which we first offer as a measurement study. Contrarily, CPCDN may leverage context intelligence—which captures how contents are constantly manipulated then synthesized in various circumstances —in order to optimise the user experience and service quality throughout content delivery since it is aware of the precise environment in which material is consumed. In this study, we use a measurement-based approach to reasons, methods, and amounts of CP-level information may aid content delivery in order to support the quick transition to CPCDN. We proactively replicate content based on interest groups based on crowd patterns so that users can access their desired content from nearby CPCDN servers. CPCDN is able to raise the level of both content delivery efficiency and user experience by using the potent user intelligence that captures how contents are constantly exchanged and disseminated across social networked users.

Resumen
Summary Objectives: An increasing number of articles are published electronically in the scientific literature, but access is limited to alphanumerical search on title, author, or abstract, and may disregard numerous figures. In this paper, we estimate the benefits of using content-based image retrieval (CBIR) on article figures to augment traditional access to articles. Methods: We selected four high-impact journals from the Journal Citations Report (JCR) 2005. Figures were automatically extracted from the PDF article files, and manually classified on their content and number of sub-figure panels. We make a quantitative estimate by projecting from data from the Cross-Language Evaluation Forum (Image-CLEF) campaigns, and qualitatively validate it through experiments using the Image Retrieval in Medical Applications (IRMA) project. Results: Based on 2077 articles with 11,753 pages, 4493 figures, and 11,238 individual images, the predicted accuracy for article retrieval may reach 97.08%. Conclusions: Therefore, CBIR potentially has a high impact in medical literature search and retrieval.
