Resumen
To improve the conical pick cutting performance by per cutting to the free surface. The cutting performance of rock and rock plate breaking are investigated by theoretical and experimental methods. Analyzed the fracture position of the rock plate with constrained one side by the pick to study the effect of rock properties and the rock plate structural parameters on cutting force. The results indicated that the rock plate fracture is mainly from the constrained side and center of the rock plate. The cutting force of the conical pick is significantly affected by the rock plate structural parameters and the constraint sides of the rock plate number. The cutting force increases obviously with the increase of plate thickness, cutting point depth, and the rock uniaxial compressive strength. However, the influence of rock plate constrains sides number is opposite. It provides a basis for improving the cutting performance of pick and predicting the rock plate fracture.

Resumen
The concept of multi-constrained analysis of the cutting process is presented for the first time in the paper. The paper adopts a method to solve an important problem which is how to judge the influence of constrains during the cutting process. The research results are applied for HSS drills for cutting stainless steel. On the basis of the multi-constrained analysis combined with methods of simulations and standard experiments, the optimum methods are provided for structure, coating and cutting parameters of cutting tools. For geometric structure of tools, optimization is to increase thickness of cutting and rake angle. Coating optimization strategy is choosing high temperature hardness and low thermal conductivity coating. Optimization of cutting parameter is to adjust feed fate, then select proper cutting speed. The conclusion of paper is helpful for the cutting optimization.

Resumen
The concept of a cutting rate-tool life (R-T) characteristic curve is extended to the general machining economics problem (MEP) with a quadratic-logarithmic tool life and constraint equations. The R-T characteristic curve presents the general loci of optima, which is useful in selecting optimal parameters for multiple machining conditions. The necessary and sufficient conditions for the global optimum of the unconstrained MEP are presented. These conditions are equivalently applied to the concept of the constrained R-T characteristic curve. In terms of quadratic geometric programming the objective function and constraints of the general MEP are called as quadratic posylognomials (QPL). The QPL problems are classified as convex and nonconvex and the convexity is determined by the second order terms of the tool life model. Nonlinear programming and an exhaustive method are demonstrated to determine the R-T characteristic curve for three cases of posynomial, convex QPL, and non-convex QPL problems.

Resumen
In the machining process, the parts dimension, geometric shape and the formation of the relative position between the surfaces, depended on the position of the workpiece related to the cutting tool in cutting motion process, while the realization of this mutual position relationship is through locating points layout restricts parts DOFs. For this reason, this paper presents the conceptions of theoretical constrained DOFs and Practical constrained DOFs, at the same time the paper innovatively presents locating points layout determination algorithm for complex parts. Firstly, established the DOFs limit model according to the condition that parts of absolute velocity is zero in the machining precision requirements, theoretical constrained DOFs is expressed as the function relation of machining precision requirements. Secondly, establishing the model of locating points layout according to the constraint condition that parts of normal absolute velocity is zero in the position of locating points, and describing Practical constrained DOFs as the function relation between the position of locating points and normal vector. Then, according to the relationships between theoretical constrained DOFs and solves the model of locating points layout, constructed the automatic design algorithm of locating points layout. Finally, according to the proposed design algorithm, developed design and analysis modules of locating points layout by VC6.0 in the UG environment.

The Bananas decision demonstrated that WTO dispute settlement panels and the Appellate Body are capable of effectively and clearly analyzing whether extremely complex measures are consistent with WTO rules. The trade-liberalizing decision established the General Agreement on Trade in Services (GATS) as a meaningful constraint on discriminatory measures with an impact on both goods and services and clarified the nature of the GATS Most-Favoured Nation (MFN) obligation. The decision also severely constrained the ability of the EU to justify non-tariff discriminatory measures such as the quota allocation system at issue in Bananas based on the Lomé waiver.

Resumen
The purpose of this study was to compare the knee joint dynamics for males and females performing constrained cutting tasks to an unanticipated running and cutting maneuver. Sixteen male and 17 female recreational athletes were recruited to perform four cutting tasks; unanticipated run and cut (CUT), stride land and cut (SLC), far box-land and cut (FLC), and close box-land and cut (CLC). Three-dimensional knee joint kinematics and kinetics were recorded. Data were compared across gender and task with a 2 × 4 ANOVA (p< .05), and a factor analysis was performed to examine task relationships. There were significant group mean differences between the tasks and across genders. The factor analysis revealed high correlations between the three constrained tasks, but for variables typically associated with ACL injury risk there was a poor relationship to the CUT task. This was particularly true for the frontal plane variables. The constrained tasks were only moderately useful in predicting cutting mechanics.

Resumen
The creation of modern machines and improvement of existing designs of rock cutting bodies of combines is constrained by the lack of experimental studies of the process of separation of successive elementary cleavages during the potash ore cutting with cutters of winning machines. The potential of the cross cutting pattern of potash ore is shown, since the formation of zones of localization of weakening and induced fractures on the surface of layer-by-layer cutting face determines the separation of the elementary cleavages with stable geometric parameters. The verification of the conclusions obtained theoretically was carried out during laboratory tastings on a specially designed bench. The research procedure provided for comparative tests of the potash block ore cutting, staggered and cross cuttings. It has been proven that the use of the cross pattern for set cutting parameters makes it possible to reduce the specific energy costs of the cutting of potash mass, to reduce the average load on the cutter, to reduce the root-mean-square deviation, and to reduce the number of fractions that are hard to enrich in the crushing products, compared to the traditional staggered cutting pattern.

Resumen
This study investigates the chattering stability of the composite boring bar with a constrained damping layer during the deep-hole boring process in depth. Based on the Euler-Bernoulli beam theory, the regenerative chattering linear kinetic model of the composite boring bar with a constrained damping layer was established, and the computational formulas of the rotating speed of the spindle and the corresponding limit cutting depth were derived. By analyzing the chattering stability, the cutting stability lobe curves of the composite boring bar with a constrained damping layer were plotted so as to reveal the effects of the materials of both base layer and constrained layer, the ply angle, the damping composite structure (free or constrained damping structure) and the thickness of various layers on the chattering stability of the boring bar. Through the analysis of dynamic stiffness, the chatter stability analysis theory of a composite boring bar with a constrained damping layer is verified.

Resumen
A partially constrained Eulerian finite element model for orthogonal machining with chip control tools is described. A new constrained free surface algorithm was developed in which the chip thickness was constrained to be uniform along the length of the chip. Using the model, the deformed chip shape and thickness, chip-tool contact, and the velocity, strain, stress, and temperature distributions can be determined. Simulations for machining of stainless steel 304 (SS 304) with obstruction and groove tools are presented. Good agreement was found, between measured and predicted tool forces and chip thicknesses.

Resumen
Defining the cutting sequence of each cutter scientifically in the process of removing the allowance has an important influence on the machining efficiency for complex parts, which have multiple machining features. In order to satisfy the needs of high efficiency for rough machining, after determining the tool path of the machining region, a cutting sequence optimization method based on the tabu search algorithm is presented to define the cutting order in rough machining of complex parts. First, a cutting sequence optimization mathematical model is established, which relates to the shortest total length of the tool path. Second, through the problem analysis, the cutting sequence optimization model is converted into an open and constrained traveling salesman problem. And then, the optimization model is solved by dealing with an open and constrained traveling salesman problem using the tabu search algorithm. Finally, the optimal cutting sequence of machining a casing part is calculated, and a simulation and experiment are carried out. The result shows that the optimization approach presented in this article can optimize the cutting sequence and cutter position of advance and retract. Compared with the non-optimized cutting sequence method, the total length of tool path is reduced by 16.7%, the cutter lifting times are reduced to 26, and the efficiency is increased by 21.62%.

Resumen
This paper describes the dynamic stability evaluation of a constrained-motion dynamometer (CMD) with passive damping. The CMD’s flexure-based design offers an alternative to traditional piezoelectric cutting force dynamometers, which can exhibit adverse effects of the complex structural dynamics on the measurement accuracy. In contrast, the CMD system’s structural dynamics are nominally single degree of freedom and are conveniently altered by material selection, flexure element geometry, and element arrangement. In this research, a passive damping approach is applied to increase the viscous damping ratio and, subsequently, the stability limit. Cutting tests were completed and the in situ CMD displacement and velocity signals were sampled at the spindle rotating frequency. The periodic sampling approach was used to determine if the milling response was synchronous with the spindle rotation (stable) or not (chatter) by constructing Poincaré maps for both experiment and prediction (time-domain simulation). It was found that the viscous damping coefficient was increased by 130% and the critical stability limit was increased from 4.3 mm (no damping) to 15.4 mm (with damping).

Resumen
Abstract Five-axis flank milling has been commonly used in the manufacturing of complex workpieces because of its greater productivity than that of three-axis or five-axis end milling. The advantage of this milling operation largely depends on effective cutter location planning. The finished surface sometimes suffers from large geometrical errors induced by improper tool positioning, due to the non-developability of most ruled surfaces in industrial applications. In addition, a slender flank-milling cutter may be deflected when subjected to large cutting forces during the machining process, further degrading the surface quality or even breaking the cutter. This paper proposes a novel tool path planning scheme to address those problems. A simple but effective algorithm is developed to adaptively allocate a series of cutter locations over the design surface with each one being confined within an angular rotation range. The allocation result satisfies a given constraint of geometrical errors on the finished surface, which consists of the tool positioning errors at each cutter location and the sweeping errors between consecutive ones. In addition, a feed rate scheduling algorithm is proposed to maximize the machining efficiency subject to the cutting force constraint and the kinematical constraints of a specific machine configuration. Simulation and experimental tests are conducted to validate the effectiveness of the proposed algorithms. Both the machining efficiency and finish surface quality are greatly improved compared with conventional cutter locations. Highlights Tool position is bounded with respect to the geometrical machining error. Cutting force and kinematics during five-axis flank milling process are analyzed. An incremental adaptive flank milling tool path generation algorithm is proposed. Feed rate is smoothly assigned respecting cutting force and kinematic constraints.

Resumen
Based on the concept in Part 1, Theory and General Case, algorithms to determine the constrained R-T characteristic curve are established for convex constrained machining economics problems. The first algorithm is for posynomial problems with the linear-logarithmic tool life equation. The R-T curve may be determined by applying the simplex method to the log-dual problems. Sensitivity analysis of the optimal simplex tableau enables obtaining the loci of optima easily. The second algorithm is for the quadratic posylognomial problems with quadratic-logarithmic tool life equation using the property of primal-dual feasibility. End milling examples constructed in Part 1 illustrate the algorithm comparing to the exhaustive method.

Resumen
The implementation of the Differential Evolutionary Algorithm for the solution of a multi-pass turning optimization problem is presented in this paper. The optimization of a multi-pass turning process is a highly demanding problem due to the number of constraints imposed. A specific variation of the Differential Evolutionary Algorithm appropriate for the treatment of constrained problems is used. It is based on the separation of candidate solutions into those that satisfy all constraints and those that do not and the simultaneous execution of two optimization algorithms. Numerical results from the minimization of the production cost of a popular multi-pass turning problem with six degrees of freedom, namely cutting speed, feed rate and depth of cut of rough machining and finishing, validate the methodology. The selected problem is characterized by a number of equally stepped roughing passes and a final finishing pass of the cutting tool in order to obtain the desired metal part removal from the initial workpiece.
