Texto completoThis research falls within the field of French as a Foreign Language (FFL) didactics and follows the line of research on interculturality and act of teaching. It specifically aims to understand the phenomenon of intercultural conflicts and how these conflicts are managed by Egyptian teachers. It also seeks to question the teacher's perception of intercultural conflicts, particularly their ethical preoccupations, related to their actions, responsibility, and duty. Teachers are facing conflictual situations and intercultural misunderstandings, and they are exposed to a conflictual reality that requires action guided by intercultural values. What are teacher's representations of interculturality and intercultural conflicts? What are teacher's ethical concerns regarding intercultural conflict? How do they manage intercultural conflict and what values guide their actions? Our research proposes an approach that foregrounds the words of ten FLE teachers working at the French Institute in Egypt. In order to do so, we have constructed a research framework that provides teachers with a discursive space where they can express themselves on intercultural conflicts, their ethical concerns, and their teaching actions. This framework is primarily based on two research tools: semi-directive interviews and intercultural conflict case study meetings. These tools allow teachers to talk about their experiences and be engaged in reflective activities on their own actions. The study of the data has revealed what do teachers think about intercultural conflicts, what their ethical concerns are, and what their actions are in these situations

Texto completoIn a context of internationalization of large retailers and increased exchanges between companies from diverse countries and cultures, the issue of mutual adjustment between local suppliers in host countries and foreign retailers is essential. This research focuses on this issue. We analyze conflict and adjustment mechanisms between retailers and suppliers in the host country, in the case of Vietnam. Our analysis outlines the determinants and consequences of conflict on the satisfaction of stakeholders, considering culture as a key variable. Four theoretical fields have been mobilized: behavioral theories in the distribution channel, contract, culture and market orientation theories. A quantitative study was conducted to test the hypothesis of our dyadic model. The results indicate that the culture organizational remains a key variable in explaining conflict, its determinants, methods of resolution and impact on stakeholders’ satisfaction

Texto completoContextualized schooling and in mother tongue is essential for the socioeconomic and cultural development of indigenous communities in Honduras. But the Intercultural Bilingual Education project currently implemented, already adopted by other countries and for other communities, is it really adapted for the specific needs of the indigenous children in Honduras? To answer this question, we have designed a research plan based on two indigenous communities: the Ch’orti’ and the Misquito communities. Our empirical and complex corpus consists of two filmed classes, pictures from a student’s notebook, interviews with members of both indigenous communities and official and pedagogical documents which guide the project’s implementation. Its analysis allows us to accentuate the cultural differences and those of the sociolinguistic situations of these communities and to show that these elements are partially taken in account when creating the schooling instruments. It also appears that language and culture contacts, treated precisely, could contribute to the revitalization, linguistic recuperation and to the indigenous identity construction. It could also open an effective intercultural dialogue for the future. Finally, we conclude by stating that if this Intercultural Bilingual Education project is not the origin of indigenous language revitalization and recuperation, it could nevertheless influence, under certain conditions, positively over them. Our research, of sociodidactic nature, reveals that the actions and initiatives undertaken by the stakeholders for the indigenous children’s education is not entirely adapted to their sociolinguistic, cultural and pedagogical needs. It leads to some perspectives for the implementation of contextualized pedagogical strategies and a better acknowledgement and valorization of the linguistic and cultural diversity of these communities

Texto completoThe present work proposes to account for cultural variability in connection to human family organization, through Darwins theories of natural selection and sexual selection. It is also founded on evidence based on the comparison of ethnographic data of diverse human societies. It intends to demonstrate that there is a significant alteration in the behavior of family members when the rules of inheritance of wealth change. These alterations are triggered because the rules of inheritance dictate the MPI Male Parental Investment sometimes in the nephew and sometimes in the son. The hypothesis is that this variation in MPI (male investment in either the nephew or the son) modifies family relations in matrilineal and patrilineal organizations in a predictable manner. The role played by MPI in determining family tensions will be shown by applying cross cultural analysis to the data obtained from HRAF (Human Relations Area Files), using PSF (Probability Sample Files). The results of the present work show that societies in which the uncles relation with his nephew is affectionate, the husband beats the wife; on the other hand, when the fathers relation with his son is indulgent and friendly, brother and sister avoid each other. This variability of behavior can be coherently explained by sociobiological theory. Cultural wealth: the innumerable customs, the traditions, the taboos, the manifest and hidden norms, the apparatus of coercion, the rules of inheritance, marriage, dowry, bride price, the division of labor, in short, all the rules observed in all human groups can be explained in the light of the following theories: a) kinship selection (Hamilton, 1963); b) reciprocal altruism (Trivers, 1971; Axelrod, 1981); c) parental investment and sexual selection (Trivers, 1972); and d) parentoffspring conflict (Trivers, 1974).
