"Kingiella chilenica (Bivalvia: Cyamiidae); population dynamics, rates of survival, embryo production and annual recruitment of a semelparous brooding clam". Resumen
Kingiella chilenica, a brooder mollusc, inhabiting soft bottoms of estuarine tidal flats of southern Chile, is well suited to study larval recruitment. It is a tiny semelparous clam with an annual cycle, and whose recruits must survive an inhospitable winter season prior to growing and reaching reproductive maturity in the following summer season. The population dynamics of this clam was studied through periodic sampling over two successive years to follow fluctuations in its' abundance. Obtained data on embryo production and recruit survival over both periods shows that population abundance varied widely between the two years of study. A high level on recruit survival through the winter of the first year resulted in high numbers of adults in the corresponding summer reproductive season. An inverse situation occurred in the second year, with lower recuit survival and, consequently, fewer reproducing adults. However, the lower abundance of adults in the second year was compensated by their having a higher survival rate over the reproductive season as compared with adults of the previous year. Independently of the abundance of the adults, the number of embryos incubated per female was very similar between both periods. Consequently, we suggest that the net contribution of juveniles produced by females per unit substrate was similar between the annual cycles studied. As predicted for a semelparous species (high reproductive effort), the maximization of the reproductive contribution was clearly reflected by a drop in adult somatic weight, particularly in incubating females. Previous data on abundance for this population suggested inter-annual differences of a high magnitude, with periods (e.g. 1986–1988) with abundances reaching 2–6× that presently reported. Probably, stable environmental conditions (e.g. 1986–1988) promote high abundance and survival of reproducers allowing a large contribution of recruits, which in turn show high degrees of survival through the adult phase. The years reported here (2003–2005), however, represent a period of population decline to lower, perhaps minimum, levels.

Objective: A summary of new knowledge on embryo implantation in dependence on quality of the endometrium. Methods: Literature review from August 2022 of the relevant publications in Web of Science, Scopus and PubMed/Medline databases, focused on “endometrial receptivity”, “polycystic ovary syndrome”, “endometriosis”, “SARS-CoV-2”. Results: The receptive state of the endometrium is a result of physiological remodeling and immune system activity modulated by the microbiome. This balance can be disturbed by myomas, polyps, sactosalpings, adenomyosis, endometriosis, polycystic ovary syndrome, infections. The effect of SARS-CoV-2 infection is being discussed. For a successful implantation, timing of transfer is crucial. The ultrasound examination is used conventionally. In specific cases, hysteroscopy and endometrium bio psy are recommended. Histological and immunohistochemical evaluation is performed together with examination of microbiome or transcriptome. To support the implantation, gestagenes are used, or metformin in the patients with polycystic ovary syndrome. In cases of a repeated implantation failure, the intrauterine infusion of mononuclear cells or platelet rich plasma is used, subcutaneous application of granulocyte colony stimulating growth factor, intravenous application of atosiban or intrauterine application of human chorionic gonadotropin. Conclusion: Recent research in the field of transcriptomics, proteomics and reproductive immunology uncovers the process of implantation more deeply and opens a new stage of the assisted reproduction. Key words: receptivity of endometrium – implantation – SARS-CoV-2 – endometriosis – polycystic ovaries – adenomyosis – proteome – secretome

Resumen
When a new president is elected, it is generally assumed that one of the president's challenges is to reform government operations. Recent reforms in Korean government had been mainly those of changes of government structures: these changes have included the consolidation of organizational functions and the dismantling of inefficient and unpopular agencies. They were the so-called cutback reforms. In May 1988, when popularly elected President Rho announced the establishment of the Administrative Reform Commission (ARC), many believed that administrative reform would be critical to the president's effort to democratize the governmental processes of the Sixth Republic. In July 1989, the ARC submitted its proposals for reform to the Ministry of General Affairs(MGA): these proposals recommended a wide range of structural and functional changes. The MGA, serving as the secretariat to the ARC, distributed the report to each ministry and agency and invited their opinions.

Resumen
The paper analyses the income and living conditions of farm households in the Czech Republic. The period under review ware the years of 2005–2010 since more recent data was not available when this paper was being prepared. The primary source of data is the results of the European Union Statistics on Income and Living Conditions (EU SILC) survey. The structure of farm households is established by the household type, education, and economic activity. Households have been assigned to particular groups based on the situation of the household leader. The primary indicator is the average disposable income per 1 equivalent member. Other indicators under review include poverty, poverty depth, and material deprivation. The national poverty line has been defined as 60% of the median average equivalent income. Another important aspect also includes the households’ subjective views of the selected matters.

Resumen
The public finance management system is an important lever for equalizing financial and budgetary disproportions in the context of institutional changes. The paper aims to substantiate the directions of development of the public financial management system. Economic and statistical methods and correlation-regression analysis methods are used to determine the relationship between the GDP deflator and the share of revenues, expenditures, the general government budget deficit, and public debt in GDP, assessing the features of the public financial management system in Ukraine and EU countries. This study reveals that one of the main restraining factors in the public finance system development is a significant level of uncertainty in economic processes, which intensifies macroeconomic fluctuations, significant indicators of the share of public debt and budget deficit of the state administration sector pose risks to financial and economic stability; their potential negative impact on socio-economic processes is much more destructive than the pro-cyclical nature of fiscal policy. From this point of view, the public finance management system should be directed at optimizing financial and budgetary tools to prevent the growth of public debt and budget deficit in gross domestic product, which determines the importance of substantiating further development directions of the public financial management system. It is concluded that the mechanism of public financial management in recent years is quite rigid and restrictive, in the context of institutional change expands the tools of public financial management and increases its impact on socio-economic processes.

Stockdale, C. R. "Body condition at calving and the performance of dairy cows in early lactation under Australian conditions: a review". Australian Journal of Experimental Agriculture 41, n.º 6 (2001): 823. http://dx.doi.org/10.1071/ea01023.

Texto completo
Resumen
With the current increases in genetic merit and feeding occurring at farm level, dairy cows are under increasing nutritional stress in early lactation. Cows obtain their energy at this time from the feeds they eat and from body reserves. The relationship between body condition at calving and productivity of dairy cows has been reviewed, with particular emphasis on interactions between body condition and nutrition in early lactation. Recent research on the influence of body condition at calving on subsequent milk productivity, conducted mainly in the United Kingdom with complete diets fed indoors, has produced results in apparent conflict with the previous results from southern Australia and New Zealand where cows grazed pasture. In particular, the overseas research suggests considerably less advantage to improvements in body condition than had been previously thought. It is concluded that more information is needed concerning the interaction between body condition at calving and nutrition in early lactation, with dietary energy and protein both being important. There is a suggestion that, when complete diets are fed, it is better to achieve high energy concentrations in post-calving diets by the use of high-fibre concentrates with a fat supplement, rather than with high-starch concentrates. This has implications for dairying in Australia, since cereal grains are the major energy supplement used on many farms in early lactation and recent research has indicated that immediate marginal milk production responses to the use of concentrates may be poorer with fat cows than with thin cows. Reports from controlled feeding experiments indicate that fat cows need more dietary protein than thin cows and undegradable dietary protein might be of more concern than rumen degradable protein. However, in dairy systems where pasture is a considerable proportion of the diet, benefits of supplying specific undegradable dietary protein supplements still need to be established. Recent research has suggested that pasture appears to provide considerable quantities of undegradable dietary protein, even though the crude protein in pasture is potentially highly degradable in the rumen. Body condition at calving may also affect subsequent reproductive performance. This is due to its association with the degree of negative energy balance occurring in early lactation and because fat cows may be more susceptible to metabolic disease(s). While the mechanisms involved are probably quite complex, increases in animal productivity will generate more stress in cows at a time of their annual cycle when stress needs to be minimised. Further understanding is required to link the relevancy of overseas research to Australian dairy farming conditions where pasture is a key input.

Resumen
Human papillomavirus (HPV) is present in precancerous conditions of the cervix. This review attempts to elucidate our understanding of precancerous cervical cancer, with particular emphasis on the central aetiologic function of persistent human papillomavirus (HPV) infection. The review dwells on recent studies that focused on detecting precancerous cervical lesions using visual inspection with acetic acid (VIA), convection cytology (Pap smear testing), and Schiller test. Anomalies in staining the exocervical epithelium and intraepithelial lesions upon detection with polymerize chain reaction indicated HPV infection. The stages in the evolution of cervical cancer have been widely studied and understood, resulting in successful cancer etiology and prevention.

Resumen
Ukraine’s energy policy has an extensive structure in which all elements interact to function. Management activities in the field of energy policy are not unambiguous and simple, as they require taking into account various aspects of the country’s life. These include resource, technical, economic, environmental, organizational, administrative, managerial, social, innovative, political, geopolitical, security and other aspects, as well as ideological aspects of energy supply for vital needs and functions of the state, society and economy. In addition, energy policy activities can evolve significantly over time in the same country, depending on the dynamics of socio-economic, scientific and technological development, and the transformation of energy market models. In recent years, both Ukraine and the world have seen significant changes in the principles of energy sector regulation, and the range of methods of using energy as a tool for achieving political goals is expanding. In addition, the acceleration of economic processes in the world necessitates a rapid response to changes, which, when considering the transition to greening the economy, should be reflected in the state’s energy policy. It is worth noting that the energy policy created in recent years is specified in the relevant EU directives, which is directly transferred to the legal regulations of the EU states. These regulations significantly create conditions and even force reorientation of energy companies’ strategies, as well as cause changes in the behavior of energy consumers. To a large extent, the implementation of these changes is associated with the application of various types of innovations, especially technological and organizational ones. The purpose of the article is to analyze the problems of ensuring energy policy in Ukraine in wartime. In the course of the study, the following research methods were used: method of analysis, synthesis, systematization, comparison, abstract and logical method, statistical methods of studying economic processes. The article considers the reform of the energy policy of Ukraine, which is an integral part of economic and national security, a necessary condition for the development of the state; analyzes the “New Energy Strategy of Ukraine until 2035: Security, Energy Efficiency, Competition”; considers the basic configuration of the country’s energy policy formula, which will help optimize the energy sector infrastructure in accordance with the European Union’s energy efficiency directives; proposes principles of state regulation in the field of energy policy.

Resumen
AbstractMost of the hydrogen on planet earth is found bound to oxygen atoms in water, making H2O one of the most promising H2 storage molecules. Large availability, non-toxicity and low cost are among the advantages of using H2O as a H2 gas source. However, the decomposition of water into H2 and O2, called water splitting, needs a large amount of energy, increasing the final cost per kg of hydrogen produced. In this context, the energy provided by the sun may be used to power photoelectrochemical cells (PEC) for water splitting to produce cheap and high purity H2. This mini-review will show recent advances on the use of physical vapor deposition (PVD) methods to improve semiconducting electrode performance. PVD enables the preparation of thin layers of expensive materials over photoelectrodes, therefore decreasing PEC systems manufacture costs. Moreover, the interface of between the semiconductor and the evaporated materials can be optimized under high vacuum conditions used in PVD processes and more efficient PEC systems can be obtained.

Resumen
Purpose. The article is devoted to the legal figure of subjective public right in the context of legal protection in administrative matters. Methods. Based on the historical development of administrative jurisdiction in Austria and Germany in the 19th century, the function of the subjective public right is discussed in more detail: When the legislator grants citizens subjective public rights (and thus enforceable claims against the administration), the citizen can assert his or her individual interests before the courts by means of a right of defence against the state. At the same time, this results in an external legal control of the administration (compared to a mere internal administrative control by way of disciplinary measures) and thus promotes the rule of law of administrative action, which is in the public interest. Results. By pursuing his subjective public right, the citizen acting in his own interest indirectly contributes to the correct enforcement of the law. In a sense, he acts as an assistant to the public interest. The granting of a subjective public right also limits the group of persons who can take action against an administrative act, since otherwise anyone could challenge an administrative act. If the legislator has not expressly stipulated in the law which persons are entitled to a subjective public right in which respect, the determination of subjective public rights can be difficult in individual cases: When the law provides for a permit subject to certain conditions, the addressee of an administrative act is necessarily entitled to obtain a permit if the conditions required by law are met. The question is more complex in the case of persons who are not the addressee of an administrative act but who are affected by its effects. In this case, it must be determined by way of interpretation whether the legal provisions whose violation the citizen claims to have violated were passed not only to protect public interests but also, at least, in the interests of individual persons. Only then is there also a subjective public right of the individual to compliance with this provision. Conclusions. The legislator can avoid difficulties of interpretation by means of clear rules on the granting of subjective public rights. In particularly important administrative matters (e.g. approval of infrastructure projects), where the granting of subjective public rights is not sufficient to ensure judicial control of administrative acts, a larger group of persons can be granted party status.

Resumen
Multicomponent reactions (MCRs) have been gaining significance and attention over the past decade because of their ability to furnish complex products by using readily available and simple starting materials while simultaneously eliminating the need to separate and purify any intermediates. More so, most of these products have been found to exhibit diverse biological activities. Another paradigm shift which has occurred contemporarily is the switch to heterogeneous catalysis, which results in additional benefits such as the reduction of waste and an increase in the safety of the process. More importantly, it allows the user to recover and reuse the catalyst for multiple runs. In summary, both methodologies adhere to the principles of green chemistry, a philosophy which needs to become overarchingly enshrined. The plethora of reactions and catalysts which have been developed gives hope that chemists are slowly changing their ideology. As a result, this review attempts to discuss multicomponent reactions catalysed by operationally heterogeneous catalysts in the past 10 years. In this review, a further distinction is made between the MCRs which lead to the formation of heterocycles and those which do not.

Resumen
This paper is concerned with modeling nonequilibrium phenomena in spatial domains with boundaries. The resultant models consist of hyperbolic systems of first-order partial differential equations with boundary conditions (BCs). Taking a linearized moment closure system as an example, we show that the structural stability condition and the uniform Kreiss condition do not automatically guarantee the compatibility of the models with the corresponding classical models. This motivated the generalized Kreiss condition (GKC)—a strengthened version of the uniform Kreiss condition. Under the GKC and the structural stability condition, we show how to derive the reduced BCs for the equilibrium systems as the classical models. For linearized problems, the validity of the reduced BCs can be rigorously verified. Furthermore, we use a simple example to show how thus far developed theory can be used to construct proper BCs for equations modeling nonequilibrium phenomena in spatial domains with boundaries.

Resumen
Analyzing trends of annual rainfall and assessing the impacts of these trends on the hydrological regime are crucial in the context of climate change and increasing water use. This research investigates the recent trend of hydroclimatic variables in the Senegal River basin based on 36 rain gauge stations and three hydrometric stations not influenced by hydraulic structures. The Man Kendall and Pettitt’s tests were applied for the annual rainfall time series from 1940 to 2013 to detect the shift and the general trend of the annual rainfall. In addition, trends of average annual flow rate (AAFR), maximum daily flow (MADF), and low flow rate (LFR) were evaluated before and after annual rainfall shift. The results show that the first shift is situated on average at 1969 whereas the second one is at 1994. While the first shift is very consistent between stations (between 1966 and 1972), there is a significant dispersion of the second change-point between 1984 and 2002. After the second shift (1994), an increase of annual rainfall is noticed compared to the previous period (1969–1994) which indicates a not significant, partial rainfall recovery at the basin level. The relative changes of hydrologic variables differ based on the variables and the sub-basin. Relative changes before and after first change-point are significantly negative for all variables. The highest relative changes are observed for the AAFR. Considering the periods before and second shifts, the relative changes are mainly significantly positive except for the LFR.

Resumen
AbstarctMeteorological data from mountainous areas of Japan have been collected by the National Research Institute for Earth Science and Disaster Prevention (NIED) for almost 20 years. The collected long-period data indicate that neither a notable increase in mean winter temperature nor a reduction in snow depth has occurred in these areas. The maximum snow depth, SDmax, and maximum snow water equivalent, SWEmax, show similar fluctuation trends, although with large year-to-year variations in value and a larger fluctuation range for SWEmax than for SDmax. This result suggests that monitoring of only SDmax in mountainous areas is not sufficient for understanding the quantitative fluctuation of water resources originating from snow. The SDmax fluctuation trends in mountainous areas sometimes differ from those in flatland areas because mountain SDmax depends more on winter precipitation than on mean winter air temperature, whereas the opposite is true for flatlands. In addition, the dependence ratio of SDmax on fluctuations in winter precipitation changes with altitude because the distributions of precipitation with air temperature change with altitude.
