Texto completoSince the early 2000s, gold catalysis has developed particularly well in organic chemistry, offering new highly efficient synthetic methods, generally under very mild conditions. These advances have also led to abundant use in glycoscience, but despite important breakthroughs, the application of gold catalysis in glycochemistry is typically limited to conventional modes of sugar donor activation, in which the gold complex remains strictly confined to the role of a σ- or π-Lewis acid. The research work presented through this manuscript tends to introduce a new paradigm in gold-catalysed glycosylation reactions, by developing catalytic alkynylation reactions in which the gold complex should overcome the intrinsic difficulties of these couplings by contributing to the simultaneous activation of the sugar donor and the alkyne aglycone, based on an original gold/silicon synergistic catalysis strategy. The ideal combination of gold catalyst and counterion was sought (L and X) to achieve optimum catalytic reactivity and stereochemical control both for the alkynylation reaction of simple saturated glycosides and for the alkynylation of glycals. The discovery of a major impact of a hitherto unexploited Au(I) complex counterion in synergistic gold/silicon catalysis associated with a strongly deactivating phosphine has made it possible to extend the field of application of synergistic gold/silicon catalysis beyond the alkynylation of glycosides

Texto completoN-heterocyclic carbene ligands have been described as interesting alternatives to tertiary phosphines in term of bonding and reactivity and have been therefore extensively studied as metallocarbene promotors. As a result, a large variety of homogeneous metal-NHC complexes have been developed and their impressive catalytic properties have been studied. However, such highly active homogeneous catalysts suffer from fast deactivation and separation problems from the reaction products. The immobilization of such complexes could overcome these drawbacks and that is the reason why this area has attracted much attention in the last ten years. The most common strategy for complexes immobilisation involves covalent grafting oforganosilane precursors onto solid support surfaces, via reaction with surface OH groups. Although this method provides a convenient way for introducing all kinds of organic moieties into solids, it does not permit the control of either their distribution in the final material or the nature of the surface species. The alternative methodology, to classical grafting, developed in this PhD project, is based on the design of organic-inorganic hybrid mesostructured materials containing NHC units along their pore channels or into their walls and the subsequent coordination on the NHC units with the Au organometallic precursor. These materials were prepared by sol-gel process using a templating route, via co-hydrolysis and co-polycondensation of an organotrialkoxysilane precursor and tetraethoxysilane. This strategy permits a control of: the ligands distribution into the silica matrix, the nature of the silica surface species and the organic moieties concentration. All the solids, from the starting hybrid material to the Au-NHC containing one, were fully characterized using various techniques: nitrogen adsorption-desorption at 77 K, transmission electron microscopy, small angle X-Ray diffraction, solid state NMR spectroscopy and elementary analysis. After screening the catalytic performances of these Au-NHC containing materials in several catalytic reactions (selective oxidation of alcohols, Suzuki cross-coupling and olefins diboration), their high catalytic activity in alcohols addition to alkynes reactions prompted us to study more deeply their catalytic behaviour (and that of their homogeneous homologues) in the reaction of methanol addition to 3-hexyne. To the best of our knowledge, it is the first use in catalysis of gold Nheterocyclic carbene complexes in this reaction

Texto completoWatercourses are efficient dispersal vectors for plant species colonising riverbanks, including those that are not primarily adapted to this dispersal mode. In the case of invasive species, the study of plant traits participating to dispersal and colonization, and their variability, is important to understand the spread potential of one species in the invasive area, as well as its adaptive potential to new environments. The invasive complex Fallopia displays a high genotypic diversity and highly colonises riverbanks. Dispersal of sexual and vegetative propagules could explain their colonization success. The aim of this work is to study the dispersal strategies by watercourses displayed by this terrestrial taxon. This work has quantified the dispersal and colonization potential of Fallopia propagules through the study of their floatation ability and their viability after water exposure. This work demonstrated that rhizomes do not float unlike stem fragments and achenes. Floatability is related to morphological traits. Achene germination in water may increase the floatation time. Il was also demonstrated that viability was only reduced after 3 weeks of water exposure. The variability observed for the traits allows to identify different spread strategies in this taxon. Stem and achene regeneration in water enables a rapid installation in the riverbanks, while rhizomes regenerate after deposition in the riverbank, if environmental conditions are favourable to the development and the survival of the plant. Even if variability of propagule traits is continuous, it is possible to identify, in particular for achenes, individuals that have the capacity to disperse over long distances, and that could participate to the progression of the invasive front of the taxon. These results demonstrated that dispersal and colonization abilities of Fallopia propagules might participate to the spread potential of the species through watercourses

Texto completoThis thesis is part of a European research project called METfnet (Metrology for Moisture in Solids). In industry, the electrical sensors for measuring the water content in the solids are generally mono-frequency and the operating frequency is chosen arbitrarily. The sensitivity to the water content depends on the type of material and the existing water bounds. On the one hand, the dielectric relaxation frequency of water in the liquid state is located in the microwave band. On the other hand, the dielectric relaxation frequency of the bound water depends on the material, but it is known that it’s situated in the radio frequency band.Based on this hypothesis, the aim of this thesis is to analyze the frequency sensitivity with respect to water bonds in solids by using as an intermediate parameter the complex dielectric permittivity. In the first phase of the work, we validate metrologically two instruments: capacitive and coaxial, both of them are developed at CETIAT for measuring the dielectric constant. The two measuring cells were validated to measure the complex dielectric permittivity of liquids, solids and wet products in the [1 MHz - 2 GHz] band and a comparison with the EpsiMu® tool developed by the Fresnel Institute was carried out. In the second phase, we experimentally study wet materials by coupling electromagnetic characterization with the thermo-coulometric method, which selectively measures and distinguishes existing water bounding forms in a solid. At the end of this phase, a parametric study on the complex dielectric spectrum was carried out to lead to the identification of sensitivities with respect to the existing water fractions

Texto completoEverything around us is connected: individuals in society, infrastructures in cities, cells in the brains, interacting species in ecosystems, etc... These connections allow us to represent all complex real systems as networks and help us to understand how the world really works. Novel approaches and metrics, that often go beyond traditional analysis tools, are made available to model and interpret an impressive number of natural and anthropogenic phenomena, i.e., to investigate and understand the networks behavior. We are talking about the Complex Networks Theory (CNT), a new challenge that fascinates and involves the scientific community. In this thesis, we aim to contribute to the study of Water Distribution Networks (WDNs), particularly to the relationship between connective structure and dynamics occurring in these complex networks, tailoring classic CNT tools. The study starts from the basic concepts proposed by the CNT, shows the limits they present when applied to infrastructural systems such as WDNs, strongly constrained spatially, and proposes their tailoring. Then, we suggest a new complex network-based framework to model and simulate WDNs accounting for their intrinsic peculiarities and spatial limits enhancing the WDNs analysis and providing more reliable tools to identify the actual behaviour of these hydraulic systems. Accordingly, we propose new metrics and models, supported by efficient calculation tools.
