Resumen
The article deals with the essence of the image, its types and impact on competitiveness. Factors influencing the external and internal image of the enterprise are highlighted. Identified the main mistakes managers in image management. Have been formed a number of approaches to enterprise image management. Analysis of the essence and content of these approaches to the formation and management of the image of the company makes it possible to improve the composition of the main factors in the formation of the image of the company and specific methods of managing it at specific stages of the production cycle. Using any approach requires prior diagnosis of current state of the image and the formation on this basis the optimal set of management actions taking into account the characteristics of the company and the environment in which it functions. The enterprise, taking into account consumers and the opinion of society and seeks to form not only a positive image, but also an image that will increase the competitiveness of the market and contribute for increasing its efficiency.

A trading company should be viewed as a complex system of organization that operates in a dynamic and multi-conditioned business environment, with the aim of creating economic value for its owners and for the consumers themselves. Constant changes in the environment determine the opportunities, dangers and limitations for trading companies. Therefore, it is necessary for a trading company to precisely define and at the same time realize a number of goals that are mutually compatible and integrated. Since the company is established for the purpose of achieving certain economic and other goals, all procedures, activities and activities of the company and all holders of functions in the process of its business are goal-oriented and oriented. From the point of view of creating the sales policy of trade companies, the margin is of special importance, as the difference in the price that the trade adds to the purchase price in order to cover its costs. Regardless of whether the margin is administratively determined or is formed freely, sales prices are different. This means that, in the system of free margin formation, trade independently determines the difference in price, starting from business costs, planned profit and market conditions.

Resumen
Formation of a holding SE is one of the four ways of establishing a European Company (societas europaea- ‘SE') as regulated in the Council Regulation No 2157/2001 on the Statute for a European Company (cited below: SE-Reg.). It is also an original way of European company law to create a joint stock company. It's true that companies are making use of the holding structure in order to combine their economic potentials and to create international groups of enterprises. But, as it was in the case of the formation of theAventis S.A., the holding structures usually come into existence by means of an increase of the subscribed capital in an existing company. The new shares are issued to the shareholders of another company who pay for it with the shares of their company. The operation results in formation of a holding structure in which the company that increased its capital, becomes a holding company dominating a company or companies the shares of which were contributed. The formation of a holding SE is guided by the similar idea: an exchange of the shares of national private or public limited liability companies into the shares of a European Company. However, in contrast to the Aventis like-cases, the dominant company, i.e. the SE, does not exist yet but has to be created by the companies according to the provisions of the SE-Regulation. This fact as well as many legal gaps existing in the scanty regulation of holding formation and the necessity to apply both the provisions of European and national law concomitantly may lead to many legal problems some of which will be presented below.

Culture determines and creates educational content, its concepts and methodology. Readiness and responsibility to deconstruction of traditional beliefs, viewpoints and practices that are getting to compromise threw common human values have formed fundament of philosophy of modern education. Great influence on establishment of intercultural formal and non-formal education as like as its philosophy was made by global corporate development with its main strategic resource - knowledge - generated by socially and culturally flexible highly qualified experts. In our research we made attempt to observe main turning points of formation and further development of contemporary intercultural education paradigm in relation with trends of social and economic development in global and postmodern philosophy of education contexts.
Культура визначає і створює зміст освіти, її концепції та методологію. Готовність і спроможність до трансформації традиційних уявлень, світоглядів і практик, які досягають компромісу, апелюючи до загальнолюдських цінностей, сформували фундамент філософії сучасної освіти. Значний вплив на виникнення інтеркультурної формальної та неформальної освіти так само, як і їх філософії, було здійснено розвитком глобалізації, зокрема через її головний стратегічний ресурс - знання - згенероване соціально та культурно мобільними висококваліфікованими експертами. У цьому дослідженні ми здійснили спробу оглянути головні чинники формування та подальшого розвитку сучасної парадигми інтеркультурної освіти, зважаючи на її зв'язки з трендами соціального та економічного розвитку в контекстах світової та постмодерної філософії освіти.

Вирішення цих завдань в рамках традиційної роботи з персоналом виявилося неможливим. Управління персоналом в сучасних умовах має бути невід'ємною частиною процесу планування та реалізації стратегії. Сьогодні стратегічні цілі організації можуть бути реалізовані тільки персоналом, який відповідає як кваліфікаційним вимогам, продиктованим конкретною стратегією, так і мотиваційним вимогам, необхідним для переходу до нового, нестабільного бізнес-середовища. У цьому сенсі процеси стратегічного планування можуть успішно розвиватися лише при розгляді наслідків обраної стратегії для персоналу. Стратегічне управління персоналом в рамках нового підходу до управління дає великі переваги організаціям, що працюють у різних сферах життя сучасного суспільства. Ці переваги полягають у раціональному використанні такого обмеженого ресурсу, як персонал.
Новая роль человека в производстве и быстрые изменения в экономике, организационной культуре и технологиях по-новому ставят перед собой такие задачи, как тщательный отбор, обучение, оплата труда и рациональное использование персонала. Решение этих задач в рамках традиционной работы с кадрами оказалось невозможным. Управление персоналом в современных условиях должно стать неотъемлемой частью процесса планирования и реализации стратегии. Сегодня стратегические цели организации могут быть реализованы только персоналом, который отвечает как квалификационным требованиям, диктуемым конкретной стратегией, так и мотивационным требованиям, необходимым для перехода в новую, нестабильную бизнес-среду. В этом смысле процессы стратегического планирования могут успешно развиваться только при рассмотрении последствий выбранной стратегии для персонала. Стратегическое управление персоналом в рамках нового подхода к управлению дает большие преимущества организациям, работающим в различных сферах жизни современного общества. Эти преимущества заключаются в рациональном использовании такого ограниченного ресурса, как персонал.
The new role of man in production and the rapid changes in the economy, organizational culture and technology in new ways set such tasks as careful selection, training, remuneration and rational use of personnel. The solution of these tasks in the framework of the traditional work with the staff turned out to be impossible. Personnel management in modern conditions should be an integral part of the process of planning and implementing a strategy. Today, the organization’s strategic goals can be realized only by personnel who meet both the qualification requirements dictated by a specific strategy and the motivational requirements necessary for transition to a new, volatile business environment. In this sense, strategic planning processes can successfully develop only when considering the consequences of the chosen strategy for staff. Strategic personnel management in the framework of the new approach to management gives great advantages to organizations operating in various spheres of life in modern society. These advantages are in the rational use of such a limited resource as personnel.

Formation of a company is an important aspect of the economy as well as socio-economic development whose process must be made accessible to all entrepreneurs because of its far-reaching consequences. This study examines the position of the process of company formation in Uganda as enshrined in the Companies Act 1 of 2012 as well as the requirements of other requisite legislation. The study further, discusses the obstacles of company formation as well as the resultant impact of a widespread informal sector in Uganda. The study concludes by using South Africa as a case study on how Uganda could improve on its process of company formation. Consequently, making it simpler and more adoptable to the entrepreneurial population to enhance and foster economic development.

The Library Company of Philadelphia, founded in 1731 by Benjamin Franklin and his Junto, served as the impetus for society libraries across colonial America. While inspiring ubiquitous learning, the Library Company also reinforced the English language in linguistically diverse Philadelphia. Furthermore, the Company emblematically displayed ownership of a new land and developed an idealized concept of what it meant to be a Pennsylvanian society through their cabinet of curiositiesâ all while cultivating the organizationâ s reputation within the colonial press. The Library Company, therefore, utilized language and material/visual culture to navigate individual and community identity in a decidedly unstructured atmosphereâ the period shortly before the complete onset of American nationalism. The process of â becoming American,â the development of an identity tied to a specific location that emphases class mobility and self creation while also differentiating itself from other societies, is enumerated through the study of these linguistic and cultural manipulations.

Tourism in Libya is considered to be the best long-term alternative as a source of national income to the oil industry upon which the country's economy has long been heavily dependent. Hotels are a key element of the tourism industry. This study focuses on obstacles to foreign direct investment (FDI) in the Libyan hotel sector, because FDI is a necessary element to support the development of Libya as an internationally competitive tourism destination. Specifically, the objectives of this study are developed on page five. This study was carried out in four main stages. The first stage involved an extensive literature review to generate a background and develop a theoretical framework for the research. This study adopted a case study approach (Yin, 2003), incorporating semi-structured interviews and a questionnaire, with a sample population consisting initially of foreign hotel managers, and government officials as a second stage. The third stage involved conducting a further questionnaire and a series of semi-structured interviews with hotel managers, Corinthia hotel staff and government officials to identify key FDI issues within the Libyan hotel sector. The fourth stage provides recommendations intended to help solve the existing foreign investor problems facing the hotel sector and Libya's tourism implementation strategy. The study concludes that there are some major FDI issues facing the Libyan hotel sector, including: economic, administrative, and legal and institutional barriers in areas such as recruitment and selection; skills gaps; inadequate practical training; minimum opportunities given to foreign companies; restriction on the role of the public and private sector in the development of the Libyan Tourism Master Plan (LTMP); shortage of qualified academic staff; outdated curricula; inadequacy of the LTMP; lack of funding of Libyan tourism education; and the lack of co-operation between the hotel sector, tourism education and the government's LTMP. The main contributions of this study include: an understanding of the obstacles that confront FDI in the Libyan hotel sector; the application of factor analyses to build consensus on the essential elements of FDI obstacles within the Libyan hotel sector and the development of a best practice LTMP model. Note: It is important to note that the field work for this thesis, as well as the data analysis and conclusion, was carried out prior to the popular uprising in Libya which began on February 17th 2011.

AbstractThis chapter examines the development of a different form of corporate religious governance in the Atlantic in the years after the Jamestown massacre. It focuses on the denominational identity of its members and how this influenced the direction and formation of a theocratic model of governance that the company would adopt. This chapter illustrates how the leaders of the Plymouth and Massachusetts Bay companies, such as William Bradford, John Endicott and John Winthrop, established authoritarian governments by manipulating charter privileges, forming a theocratic model of governance in New England. It examines how the leaders and members of the Plymouth Company and Massachusetts Bay Company, as corporate bodies, established and nurtured a distinct form of governmental identity. By tracing the development of the Massachusetts Bay Company’s congregational theocratic governance through works such as Bradford’s Of Plimoth Plantation, the Winthrop Papers, as well as the Records of the Town of Plymouth and the Records of the Governor and Company of the Massachusetts Bay New England, it shows how the joint stock corporation offered its members the legal and structural framework that would dogmatically police the religious behaviour of its members to secure and establish a godly republic.

AbstractReturning to Massachusetts, this chapter focuses on communal responsibility and identity in decline of the MBC’s theocratic governance between 1640 and 1684. Firstly, this chapter investigates the transportation of political knowledge and ideas through corporate membership, assessing the role of individual MBC members such as Hugh Peters, Stephen Winthrop and Henry Vane Jr., in the formation of religious governance in England in the years surrounding the Wars of the Three Kingdoms. The chapter also assesses the evolution of corporate evangelism in England and America, with the formation of the New England Company (NEC). It analyses several evangelical works including Roger Williams’s A Yet More Bloody and John Cotton’s The Bloudy Tenent, in order to understand the conflicted development of evangelism within the company, and how it became used to justify territorial expansion and further encroach on English and Native American religious and governmental identity and rights. The chapter concludes by offering an analysis of the downfall of the MBC, emphasising how models of governance strengthened and established out of corporate flexibility could, at the same time, be made brittle and weakened.

The article is dedicated to studying the HR-brand of a vehicle company, and seeks ways to improve it further. Theoretical and methodological aspects of shaping the image of an organisation as an employer are now widely reflected in the works of domestic and foreign researchers in the field of human resource management. However, the applied aspects of branding in relation to specific employers from different sectors of the economy remain relevant for the study. The practical interest of the company in question is due to the high turnover rate (15%) and the shortage of young workers. For the purpose of studying the formed corporate HR-brand, the author uses an analysis of local regulations on staff management, employee questionnaires, the assessment of the employer’s value proposition, a reputational audit of the company regarding the Internet environment, etc. The analysis of the internal and external image of the employer concludes that the attractiveness of the HR brand of the enterprise among the target audience ‘young people’ needs to be improved. The successful achievement of this goal is possible through the introduction of career management practices, organising participation in professional competitions; for young promising employees already in the company, developing and implementing a preliminary programme and promoting the company on social media: for potential candidates. Forming an attractive HR brand for young people based on the implementation of a value proposition that takes into account the specifics of this target audience, using new channels and formats to promote the employer brand externally, including in the online environment, will optimise staff turnover, attract and retain talented young people and strengthen the company’s position in the market.

Resumen
The article examines the world and Ukrainian history of corporate periodicals. The main purpose of this study is to reproduce an objective global picture of the emergence and formation of corporate periodicals, taking into account the business and socio-economic context. Accordingly, its tasks are to compare the conditions and features of corporate media genesis in different countries, to determine the main factors of their development, as well as to clarify the transformations of the terminological apparatus. The research is based on mostly foreign secondary scientific works published from 1915 to the present time. The literature was studied using methods such as overview, historical, functional and thematic analysis, description, and generalization. A systematic approach was used to determine the role and place of each element in the system, as well as to comprehensively consider the object in the general historical context and within the current scientific discourse. The method of systematization made it possible to establish internal and external connections, patterns and contradictions in the development of the object of study. The main historical milestones on this path are identified, examples of the first successful corporate publications and their contribution to business development, public relations, and corporate communications are considered. It was found that corporate media emerged in the mid-nineteenth century spontaneously, on the wave of practical business needs in response to industrialization, company increase, staff growth, and consumer market development. Their appearance preceded the formation of the public relations industry and changed the structure of the information space. The scientific significance of this research is that the historical look at the evolution of corporate media provides an understanding of their place, influence, capabilities, and growing communicative role in the digital age.

Resumen
The worldwide market for ornamental saltwater invertebrates supplies the needs of millions of aquarium hobbyists, public exhibitions (i.e., zoos) universities and research institutions. With respect to reef building corals, it is estimated that more than half a million coral colonies/year from a total 93 genera, were exported globally during the period of 1985-1997. International value of retail sale of live coral trade alone is estimated as $78 million in 1997 (not including the illegally, widely smuggled material). The continuous, large-scale collection of marine organisms is responsible, in many places, for the destruction of coral reefs. The expected expansion of the trade further threatens these fragile habitats. While no true captive-bred corals are commercially available, our long-term goal is to develop ex situ inland farming of coral colonies that will circumvent the need for in situ collections and will provide domesticated specimens for the trade and for research. We simultaneously studied two model branching coral species, Stylophora pistillata (Pocilloporidae; in Israel) and Porites (Poritidae; in the US). The proposal included three specific aims: (a) To develop protocols for nubbins (small fragments, down to the size of a single polyp) usage in coral farming;(b) To address the significance of colony pattern formation to the coral trade; and (c) To develop the protocols of using nubbins in physiological and ecotoxicological assays (using oil dispersants, the expression of the stress protein HSP-70, household detergents, etc.). Ten scientific publications (published manuscripts, accepted for publications, submitted to scientific journals, in preparation), revealing results that were related to all three specific aims, originated from this BARD proposal. As a result of the work supported by the BARD, we have now, in hand, original and improved protocols for coral maintenance ex situ, proven expertise on manipulating coral colonies’ pattern formation and biological knowledge on island mariculture of reef corals (from Hawaii and from the Red Sea) amenable for the ornamental trade (for public and private aquaria use, for experimentation). At least one Israeli company (Red Sea Corals, Ltd., KibbutzSaar) is using our methodologies for further developing this new mariculture sector. We are now in the process of introducing the rationale and methodologies to Hawaiian private entities to expand dissemination of the research outcomes.

Metadata is provided for each resource (when available) including the length of the report, its abstract, author(s), and company that performed the research. The process of identifying reports for this compendium involved keyword searches of all PRCI research documents (and in some cases, research by others). The list of documents identified in that keyword match was then manually reviewed for relevance. Documents that had content that was not directly relevant to the topic of this compendium, had minimal information, or duplicated information were excluded. Specifically, this study reviewed 163 documents and only selected 61 documents that were deemed relevant. Key excerpts and/or notes were taken from those documents and are included here. In many cases, the excerpt/notes are adequate such that the source document does not need to be read separately. However, there are some documents that contain much more content than can be adequately summarized herein. In those cases, the note recommends reviewing that document in its entirety. Links to each of the reports are provided to help facilitate quick access to the related reports. A valid PRCI account is needed to access these links on the PRCI website. Ce rapport présente une étude portant sur les concepts et processus enseignés à l’école secondaire au Québec. Il étudie l’alignement entre les concepts enseignés et les concepts utilisés par des travailleurs de l’industrie STIM du Québec, l’alignement entre les motivations et les tensions des enseignants et les concepts mathématiques enseignés, ainsi que l’alignement entre l’épistémologie des enseignants de mathématiques du secondaire, les concepts mathématiques du programme de formation et les mathématiques utilisées par les travailleurs de l’industrie STIM. Dans un premier temps, nous avons fait une analyse des concepts et des processus mathématiques présents dans le programme de formation de l’école québécoise du secondaire, volet mathématique. Nous avons comparé cette analyse avec d’autres programmes de mathématiques. Nous avons étudié les métiers STIM représentés dans les manuels scolaires québécois. Dans un deuxième temps, nous avons interrogé des travailleurs STIM quant aux concepts mathématiques employés dans le cadre de leur travail. Nous avons comparé ces concepts mathématiques à ceux présents dans le Programme de formation de l’école québécoise. Dans un troisième temps, nous avons interrogé des enseignants de mathématiques du secondaire quant à leurs représentations des concepts mathématiques du programme. Nous leur avons fait parvenir un questionnaire et nous avons réalisé des groupes de discussion. Nous avons comparé leurs représentations de ces concepts mathématiques à ceux présents dans le Programme de formation de l’école québécoise. Nos résultats suggèrent que certains concepts mathématiques sont beaucoup utilisés par les travailleurs STIM, mais sont peu enseignés au secondaire. C’est le cas des statistiques qui sont principalement enseignées aux élèves du volet Culture Société Technique, volet qui ne conduit pas à se qualifier dans les programmes STIM du cégep et de l’université. Qui plus est, une grande proportion des enseignants rencontrés disent ne pas apprécier les statistiques. Ces résultats montrent un désalignement important qui pourrait conduire les élèves à une vision tronquée des mathématiques utilisées dans les carrières STIM.

In natural gas production and processing applications, methanol is commonly injected into natural gas streams containing water to prevent the formation of hydrates in gas lines and subsequent equipment damage. However, gas chromatographs (GCs) at field sites are typically not equipped to identify or measure methanol, and unless excess methanol is expected to carry over into a gas stream, samples sent to a laboratory are not likely to be analyzed for methanol. As a result, the potential exists for errors in gas property determination, particularly in heating value and sound speed. A previous PRCI project investigated the potential for GCs to quantify methanol as a hydrocarbon, and estimated the resulting errors on heating value and other properties. This theoretical study used assumptions about where methanol would elute on GC columns, but experimental data on GC performance in streams with methanol was unavailable to verify these assumptions. To verify the estimates of the theoretical study, this project collected experimental data on methanol elution behavior in a series of field and laboratory GCs, and established the errors in computed natural gas properties caused by methanol behavior. Three GCs used by the laboratory of a PRCI member company were nominated for testing: ABB NGC 8206 C7+ field GC, Agilent Model 7890A laboratory GC, configured for extended natural gas analysis, and Daniel Model 575 C6+ field GC. The separation columns, valve configurations, and other design features of these GCs that could influence methanol elution were reviewed. Since each GC was predicted to respond differently to methanol, the nominated units were accepted for testing. A fourth GC, a Varian CP-4900 Quad MicroGC outfitted to quantify methanol, was provided to the lab to serve as a reference unit. Hydrocarbon base gas compositions were chosen to represent production and transmission gases and a gas blender was consulted to identify an effective method of stabilizing the methanol content of the test gases delivered to the GCs. Lab personnel and the gas blender then provided the required hardware and the test and calibration gases, with the gas blend compositions traceable to NIST.

Deferred feedback on summative assessments can demotivate students and affect their overall learning performance, and it can change their study routines. The aim of this study is to compare and analyse students’ perceptions about summative and formative regular feedback: whether they are better motivated by being given marks, or by regular feedback without any marks. All participants were students from a Bachelor of Computer Science (BCS) degree at a New Zealand tertiary institute. Three courses were selected across three different levels of the BCS, and the sample group included 272 students from five different semesters. Summative (with marks) and formative (with feedback only) weekly quizzes were introduced in 2017, with the aim of providing early, regular feedback to students. Participants in the study were divided into two groups: students who were doing formative, and those who were doing summative quizzes. In each group, the majority of students indicated that they were happy and positive about getting regular feedback in the form of quizzes, and they appreciated the quiz questions and time spent as a way to adjust and enhance their learning. There was no real difference in students’ subjective evaluations and individual perceptions between those who had summative and those who had formative quizzes. The existence of quizzes, and the results, were important for students as weekly feedback and it didn’t matter whether marks were attached to these weekly feedback activities or not. More studies are needed to determine what type of questions could better influence students’ learning outcomes.

This US Army Engineer Research and Development Center, Coastal and Hydraulics Laboratory, technical report details the pilot deployment, accuracy evaluation, and best practices of the citizen-science, coastal-image monitoring program CoastSnap. Despite the need for regular observational data, many coastlines are monitored infrequently due to cost and personnel, and this cell phone-image-based approach represents a new potential data source to districts in addition to providing an outreach opportunity for the public. Requiring minimal hardware and signage, the system is simple to install but requires user-image processing. Analysis shows the CoastSnap-derived shorelines compare well to real-time kinematic and lidar-derived shorelines during low-to-moderate wave conditions (root mean square errors [RMSEs] <10 m). During high-wave conditions, errors are higher (RMSE up to 18 m) but are improved when incorporating wave run-up. Beyond shoreline quantification, images provide other qualitative information such as storm-impact characteristics and timing of the formation of beach scarps. Ultimately, the citizen-science tool is a viable low-cost option to districts for monitoring shorelines and tracking the evolution of coastal projects such as beach nourishments.

The Kipawa rare-earth element (REE) deposit is located in the Parautochton zone of the Grenville Province 55 km south of the boundary with the Superior Province. The deposit is part of the Kipawa syenite complex of peralkaline syenites, gneisses, and amphibolites that are intercalated with calc-silicate rocks and marbles overlain by a peralkaline gneissic granite. The REE deposit is principally composed of eudialyte, mosandrite and britholite, and less abundant minerals such as xenotime, monazite or euxenite. The Kipawa Complex outcrops as a series of thin, folded sheet imbricates located between regional metasediments, suggesting a regional tectonic control. Several hypotheses for the origin of the complex have been suggested: crustal contamination of mantle-derived magmas, crustal melting, fluid alteration, metamorphism, and hydrothermal activity. Our objective is to characterize the mineralogical, geochemical, and isotopic composition of the Kipawa complex in order to improve our understanding of the formation and the post-formation processes, and the age of the complex. The complex has been deformed and metamorphosed with evidence of melting-recrystallization textures among REE and Zr rich magmatic and post magmatic minerals. Major and trace element geochemistry obtained by ICP-MS suggest that syenites, granites and monzonite of the complex have within-plate A2 type anorogenic signatures, and our analyses indicate a strong crustal signature based on TIMS whole rock Nd isotopes. We have analyzed zircon grains by SEM, EPMA, ICP-MS and MC-ICP-MS coupled with laser ablation (Lu-Hf). Initial isotopic results also support a strong crustal signature. Taken together, these results suggest that alkaline magmas of the Kipawa complex/deposit could have formed by partial melting of the mantle followed by strong crustal contamination or by melting of metasomatized continental crust. These processes and origins strongly differ compare to most alkaline complexes in the world. Additional TIMS and LA-MC-ICP-MS analyses are planned to investigate whether all lithologies share the same strong crustal signature.
