Resumen
Abstract This article reviews the model of human resource development (HRD) based on spirituality as its main focus within Islamic Financial Institutions, specifically the KSPPS under the Association of Islamic Cooperatives of NU Members (ASKOWANU) in Jepara. The model applied in human resource development incorporates the dimensions of workplace spirituality, which include meaningful work, sense of community, and alignment with organizational values. These three dimensions form the construct variable of spirituality in the workplace. Meaningful work is at the individual level, sense of community is at the group level, while alignment with organizational values is at the organizational level. By implementing these three aspects, companies or organizations will gain not only material but also immaterial and spiritual benefits. The method used in this research is qualitative with a descriptive analysis approach, where the researcher examines the phenomena occurring in the research object. The study concludes that, in general, Islamic financial institutions have already implemented spirituality-based human resource development, but it has not been effective. Therefore, strategic steps are necessary to implement these three aspects operationally within the institution/organization.

Resumen
This article examines three community development projects initiated by university educated individuals in or near their places of birth with the aim of presenting evidence that academics can be instrumental in contributing to development in their communities. The three projects used different approaches and resources. The project in Arya Jawi Kebele was developed and managed by a church-linked family association that aimed at broadly based development of this rural district guided by the theological principles of an Ethiopian evangelical church. The project in Kersole Village was initiated and managed by six university educated brothers, four of whom are currently living in the United States. Their primary objective was to help their family and secondly to improve livelihoods in the community. The project in the small town of Azena, conceived and fostered by a professor at Addis Ababa University, focused on the construction of a bridge over a river and several schools, with financial support mainly from several international NGOs. The academics’ familiarity with the needs of and their acceptance by the communities facilitated interaction with local leaders, organizations and craftsmen during the planning and implementation processes and promoted community participation.

Resumen
Stunting has shown negative associations with poor child developmental indicators. However, in poor ethnic minority populations the evidence for associations of anthropometric growth indicators and child development is limited. This study examined associations between stunting, height for age z scores (HAZ) and other determinants, with Early Child Development (ECD) among children in poor Roma communities. Publicly available data from Multiple Indicator Cluster Surveys for Serbian Roma settlements were used to assess a cohort of 1075 Roma children aged 36-59 months. Indicators of child growth and nutrition included children?s HAZ scores and stunting. ECD assessed physical, learning/cognition, literacy/numeracy and socio-emotional developmental domains. Multiple regressions were used to assess the association between HAZ and stunting with ECD, controlling for maternal and child confounders. Sum score for ECD in Roma children was low, and 18% of children were stunted. After adjusting for potential confounders, HAZ and stunting revealed no significant associations with developmental outcomes. Instead, increasing maternal investment was positively associated with overall ECD score and higher scores in each of the individual developmental domains, except socio-emotional. In a low-resource setting, maternal investment appeared a good predictor of child development: it may buffer against the effects of poverty and stimulate child development.

Resumen
A genetic resource for studying genetic architecture of agronomic traits and environmental adaptation is essential for crop improvements. Here, we report the development of a rice nested association mapping population (aus-NAM) using 7 aus varieties as diversity donors and T65 as the common parent. Aus-NAM showed broad phenotypic variations. To test whether aus-NAM was useful for quantitative trait loci (QTL) mapping, known flowering genes (Ehd1, Hd1, and Ghd7) in rice were characterized using single-family QTL mapping, joint QTL mapping, and the methods based on genome-wide association study (GWAS). Ehd1 was detected in all the seven families and all the methods. On the other hand, Hd1 and Ghd7 were detected in some families, and joint QTL mapping and GWAS-based methods resulted in weaker and uncertain peaks. Overall, the high allelic variations in aus-NAM provide a valuable genetic resource for the rice community.

Resumen
The Scheduled Tribes and Other Forest Dwellers (Recognition of Rights) Act, 2006, marked a momentous change in the institutional contour of forest management in India. The change suggested better tenure security along with a strong community resource regime. However, policy implementation was marked by weak enforcement of community forest resource rights. Intrigued by variable performance of the Act, this study explains the process of rights negotiation, and analyzes the determinants of institutional and resource sustainability in the post-rights scenario.<br/> The study, based on successful cases from Maharashtra, uses a comprehensive set of institutional and resource indicators, developed to suit the cultural and ecological context. The strongest factors that emerged from the two case studies were of community association with the resource, resource centrality and visionary leadership. However, these factors manifested differently in the two villages. The success was also mediated by a range of intermediate variables in both villages. The findings offer a counter-narrative to the claim that granting forest rights will lead to forest fragmentation and loss of forest cover. Both the villages had rich forest and robust institutions normatively fuelled by idea of selfgovernance, inclusion, and equity. Such normative foundations of equity and sustainability steered these institutions to successful collective outcomes.

Resumen
The approaching of the 21 century globalization poses unique HRM challenges to business chiefly those functioning across countrywide boundaries as transnational or global enterprises. Global trade is considered by the open flow of human and economic resources particularly in the developed economies of European Union (EU), the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA), other regional groupings such as the Association of South East Asian Nations (ASEAN), the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), the Southern African Development Community, etc. Competing in global markets require loads of factors and centralization of its human resource practices is definitely imperative to get better global competitiveness and authorize workforce for global assignments. These developments are opening up new markets in a mode that has certainly not been seen earlier than. This accentuates the requirement to deal with human resources efficiently to increase aggressive benefit in the global market place. To attain this, organizations need an understanding of the factors that can decide the efficacy of different HR practices and approaches. This is because countries like India diverge down a number of scopes that persuade the attractiveness of direct overseas investments in every nation.Â

The object of this research is the local municipal and rural associations of the Volgograd Oblast. The subject of this research is the resource of activism of local associations of the Volgograd Oblast. This research analyzes the key characteristics of the population of municipal and rural districts of the Oblast for emergence of activism, namely the unity in understanding of the key issues faced by local association and attention to them; presence of social solidarity and close communication; self-identification with the local territorial community. The main hypothesis of this research was tested with help of mass surveys of the population, conducted based on quota cell. Statistical population in this research &ndash; the population of the Volgograd Oblast (N=2,491,751). The basis for the quota consisted in the following: place of residence of respondents (municipal and rural districts of the Volgograd Oblast), as well as gender and age of respondents. The total size of the cell is n=848 respondents. The novelty of this research consists in the fact that for the first time it is determined that rural local associations possesses greater potential for activism than their urban counterparts, which can become a substantial base for development of rural areas if properly applied.

Resumen
The research aims to examine the roles of water use association in Cepu District and their contribution to the development of small-scale water resource management. Descriptive analysis was conducted to draw conclusions from the observed phenomena, where the data was collected and analysed using quantitative and qualitative techniques. The results show that there are three patterns of water resource management in Cepu, namely the surface irrigation, groundwater-use and rainwater-use which also indicate the variation of the irrigation governance in the communities. Water Use Association can promote farmers to increase farming index up to four times per year (two times for paddy and one up to two times for horticulture products), facilitate farmers managing water through primary, secondary and tertiary irrigation canal, facilitate farmers to propose fundings for procurements or maintenances of irrigation infrastructures, provide platform for producing norms and governance for joint irrigation management for better income while information exchange can appear within WUA members, and promote mutual assistance. The study concludes that collective management through social groups, Water Use Association, have positive impact for the members.

Resumen
Background: The prevalence of dependency personality disorder is high among elderly individuals with a low level of social support. The objective of this study was to explore the dependency associated with important community resources among elderly individuals with a low level of social support from the perspective of resource demand. Methods: The population-based cross-sectional study was conducted in 22 locations in China. A total of 950 participants aged ≥60 years were selected using a complex multistage sampling design. All the data were collected using questionnaires via face-to-face interviews. The dependency was assessed using the standardized Chinese version of the Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory-II. Community resources were assessed using 43 items. Logistic regression analysis was used to evaluate the association between dependency and important community resources. Results: Bivariate analysis showed that the level of social support was negatively associated with levels of income (p < 0.001) and education (p = 0.008) and was positively associated with social communication and interactions (p < 0.001). The logistic regression analysis showed that the emergency call or survival monitoring system (ECSMS) was the most important community resource that was significantly associated with the levels of dependency; the odds ratio was 2.64 (95% CI, 1.07–3.91; p = 0.031) among elderly individuals with a low level of social support. Conclusions: The levels of dependency were most significantly associated with the ECSMS among elderly individuals with a low level of social support. Our results suggest that improving the ECSMS can be the main problem in the development of community resources.

Resumen
This study aims to clarify the relation between preparedness status and the local natural resource conservation of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). SMEs are key actors in sustainable development and local disaster risk reduction. To ensure the quick recovery of business, SMEs are expected to formulate a Business Continuity Plan (BCP). However, the rate of formulation has thus far not been very high among SMEs. This study conducted a questionnaire survey in 2017 targeting SMEs in Sukagawa, Fukushima. We analyzed the 240 responses collected through a Multiple Correspondence Analysis and used Cramer’s coefficient of association to determine the strength of association. Major findings are as follows: 1) Environment-related indices were associated with both BCP formulation and business size, and these associations indicate the possibility of connecting environmental actions or management to BCP formulation. 2) In the association between BCP formulation status and environmental actions, the environmental management system had a stronger association than business size (capital, number of employees). 3) The group interested in the conservation of regulating services related to local natural resources (reducing CO2 emission, water quality, aquatic plants and animals) had a higher rate of BCP formulation. 4) This group considers mutual help more important than self-help or public help. 5) Capital and number of employees have a strong association with both BCP formulation status and their interest in participating in local natural resource conservation. Activities with local society and stakeholders may collectively increase SMEs’ awareness with neighbor enterprises or the local community. It would help both SMEs and local society to build a seamless attitude toward disaster risk reduction, which would contribute to local sustainability.

The notion of ‘participation’ and its association with the concept of planning and governance has increasingly become important both in rural and urban governance. However the impact of the participation has been different in different settings. The present study is an attempt to examine the participatory processes in planning within an already existing participatory programme in India, namely the Joint Forest Management (JFM) Programme, empowering forest communities within rural forest dwelling units with management functions, through a participative approach. In recent times, within the framework of JFM, Microplan has to be prepared for each village, under the National Afforestation Programme of the Ministry of Environment and Forests, Government of India. The study aims to address the nature and extent of participation and the factors which have affected the outcome of participatory processes in a representative case site, within broader context of participatory governance.

Resumen
The study emphasizes the urgency of the problem of improving the system of tools that can be effectively used to ensure effective and balanced local socio-economic development in Ukraine. The purpose of the study is to improve the tools of state management of local economic development. It has been proven that the effective regulation of the development of territorial communities is based on the capacity of the tools of local economic development, which is a complete complex consisting of goals, strategic tasks, goals, mechanisms and means of regulation. The goal of designing local economic development is determined, namely, in the form of developing tools and means of increasing the resource potential of strengthening the capacity of the community through: improving the investment climate and activating the business environment; improvement of entrepreneurial skills of the local population; strengthening the budgetary stability of the community as the basis of economic progress; strengthening cooperation with various target groups (youth, women, IDPs). It has been proven that in the process of ensuring the local economic development of the community, it is important to focus on solving the following tasks: development of tools for strengthening the economic capacity (self-sufficiency) of the community; improvement of resources attraction tools; strengthening of budget sustainability; development of means and measures for activation of entrepreneurial activity; development of tools for youth participation in decision-making and implementation of ideas for the future vision of community development. It is summarized that the implementation of the local economic development program involves the interaction of such subjects as: state and local self-government bodies, industry associations and business associations, business entities, public organizations and political parties, and the population. The key elements of the implementation mechanism of the local economic development program have been identified.

Resumen
Abstract This study looks into a recurring issue that adoption of organic farming is problematic despite the Philippine government’s big investment on its massive promotion and notwithstanding of the technology’s potential for delivering economic, environmental, and social benefits. The study involved two major players—a private enterprise and an organic farmers’ association in organic farming. It argued that a private enterprise perceived to be resource-rich is likely to sustain adoption of organic farming compared to farmers belonging to the people’s organization. Mixed method and participatory data gathering techniques were employed. Both groups practiced organic farming techniques endorsed by the Philippine National Standards on Organic Agriculture. The private enterprise is engaged in the production of forest trees, fruits, vegetables, spices, rice, swine, and cattle. The farmers’ association is producing high value crops such as rice, onion, watermelon, and garlic. However, both have experienced some constraints categorized as political and regulatory that may prevent them from sustaining organic farming in the future. These constraints may hamper their desire to contribute to improving people’s well-being while ensuring the integrity and protection of the environment.

Resumen
In the modern globalized world migration shows a stable progressing nature which explains the academic interest in this complex, controversial phenomenon. The complexity of migration processes gives rise to new discourses, and a new research area where migration is studied as a social resource, a channel to replenish human resources in the declining regions of the Russian Federation. Data obtained in a complex sociological study performed within the framework of RFFI grant #19-411-340002 “Territorial communities in social transformation: a sociological and managerial analysis” permitted considering migration as a social resource. The research team of the Volgograd Institute of management, a branch of RANEPA, used a combined strategy that includes both quantitative (mass survey of citizens and rural residents) and qualitative methods of empirical study. The former were mass surveys of urban and country residents, the latter - in-depth interviews of experts and representatives of territorial local governing bodies, the academic community, urban and country activists, architects, leaders of property owner associations, long term residents of territorial communities. The obtained data allowed revealing the potential of migration in terms of partial compensation for the declining population of the Volgograd region, replenishing human resources and labor force, preservation and development of regional territories, building solidary ties between the local population and migrants. Migration has both positive and negative implications; the objective, inevitable nature of migration brings to the fore a need for optimal, effective methods of management at all levels of the social system. Social and ethnic agreement between migrants and the receiving population in territorial communities can be only possible when life in a region is well regulated, its municipal structures and local communities function properly, and the traditions and culture of all people residing here are respected.

Resumen
Water, as a common pool resource, is threatened by the possibility of overextraction generating a negative economic impact, conflicts among users, and greater income inequality. Scholars have discussed different governance approaches to deal with this threat, including centralized governance and self-governance, and lately, special attention has been paid to the interactions between formal institutions (the state) and local water user associations and how this promotes self-governance. The aim of this paper was to examine the adoption of Ostrom’s design principles present in the legal norms dictated in the Chilean Water Code by water user associations and to analyze the roles of their size, community homogeneity, and perceived water stress on adopting legal norms. The results showed that water communities generally follow the rules established in the Water Code, but the voting system, distribution of water, and fee payment are adjusted in small and homogenous water user associations. We can also conclude that a cornerstone in the system is implementing graduated sanctions, as water users see the tools provided by the Water Code as ineffective.

Adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) are potentially traumatic events that can cause lifelong suffering, with 1 out of 2 children in the United States experiencing at least 1 ACEs. The intergenerational effect of ACEs has been described, but there’s still paucity of knowledge of its impact on child development and behavior in children enrolled in Early Head Start (EHS) home visiting programs. A retrospective observational study was performed with 71 parents and 92 children participating in the EHS Home Visiting Program in Olmsted County from 2014 to 2019. Parents reported their own ACEs using a 10-item questionnaire. Children’s social-emotional status was evaluated with Devereux Early Childhood Assessment Second Edition (DECA) and development was evaluated using the Brigance Early Childhood Screens III. Referrals of children by EHS staff to community agencies were recorded. The association between parental ACEs score, developmental outcomes and referrals was analyzed. Parental ACEs score of 4 or more was associated with failing at least 1 domain on the Brigance screen ( P = .02) especially adaptive/cognitive domain ( P = .05), and increased risk of referral to community resources ( P < .001). However, there was no association between ACEs scores and failing DECA screens. We identified an intergenerational association between parental exposure to ACEs and risk for childhood developmental delay and referrals to community services. Parental adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) have intergenerational effects on offspring. In our study, parental ACEs are associated with offspring developmental delays and referral to community resources. Screening for parental adverse childhood experiences, a key social determinant of health, is imperative and should be incorporated into primary care and early childhood settings to identify children at risk for developmental delay.

Resumen
Abstract Despite considerable investment, sustainability of rural water resources remains a critical challenge in Ethiopia. Evidence suggests social capital – the networks, norms, and trust that facilitate cooperative behaviors – influences a community's ability to manage communal water resources. In turn, strong community governance of water resources may lead to sustainable resource management. Existing evidence provides a framework for exploring the relationship between social capital and governance of common-pool resources. However, there is a dearth of quantifiable evidence demonstrating the relationship between social capital, collaborative governance, and, in turn, sustainability of communal water resources. In 32 communities in rural Ethiopia, we employed a validated survey tool, developed by the World Bank, to quantify social capital and explore these relationships. We found associations between governance and several social capital domains: groups and networks, trust and solidarity, and information and communication. All governance indicators were associated with functionality. Identifying domains of social capital that influence governance can inform institutional efforts to target community-based water resource programming, foster social capital to improve water point sustainability, and diagnose issues related to resource management. Additional research examining the influence and directionality of social capital and other social constructs on water resource governance and functionality is warranted.

Resumen
Participation is an important dimension of good governance. In Nepal, there seem positive changes in women's participation in School Management Committees (SMC), Parent Teachers Association (PTA), and school administration but the participation of women has become a far-reaching goalin public school governance. This article is about exploring how women's participation could contribute to promoting good governance practices in community schools. Authors have applied an interpretative inquiry and participation and feminist standpoint theories to make out the meaning in this study which was carried in two public schools in Lalitpur, Nepal. The finding reveals that his meaningful representation of women in school governance is likely to minimize the governance challenges such as absenteeism, low parents’ participation, poor resource mobilization, transparency, and accountability. These positive transformations contribute to the community development process. However, enabling environment for women is needed to ensure their meaningful representation in school governance structures. This study is beneficial to educationists, planners, and development workers in Nepal.

Resumen
The topicality of the topic is due to the fact that the current state of the economy in Ukraine is characterized by crisis phenomena. After all, an incorrectly chosen strategy or its absence leads to a decrease in the effectiveness of community activity. In this connection, there is a need to manage the strategic development of territorial communities, which will enable communities to improve production and economic activity and get out of the crisis state. We all know that a territorial community is a voluntary association of residents of several villages, towns, and cities that have a single administrative center. Modern managers have to carefully analyze the external environment in order to make timely changes to the community's chosen course in the modern conditions of European integration. In the conditions of martial law, the sharp increase in the importance of management in relation to strategic development is also explained by the acceleration of changes in the socio-economic environment, in the conditions of the growing dynamism of the entrepreneurial environment, the internationalization and globalization of business, the emergence of new unexpected challenges and opportunities for business in communities, the achievement of science and technology, the development information networks and digitization processes, which make it possible to spread and receive information quickly, wide access to modern technologies, changing the role of human resources, as well as a number of other reasons. The purpose of the article is to clarify the essence of the strategic development of the territorial community in the period of instability and crisis phenomena and to substantiate recommendations for the development of appropriate development strategies. In the process of the research, the concepts of "development" and "strategy" were substantiated and clarified, namely, it was stated that the development of the territorial community includes the organizing influences of the environment, dynamic balance with it through self-organization, progressive and regressive processes. In order to create the proper conditions for the development of territorial communities, the factors influencing the formation of their development programs were determined, that is, under such conditions, the community will have the opportunity to develop progressively, if it meets the requirements for openness, dynamism, consistency of processes and imbalance. Recommendations for strategic needs and the need to take into account certain specific factors influencing the formation of strategic development were also substantiated: location, dynamics of its development, its potential; infrastructure development and diversification of economic activity in the community; behavior of investors and partners; characteristics of products or services produced by the TC economy; state of the local economy, cultural environment; health care and the level of quality and consideration of the interests of community residents. The formation of proposals for the creation of basic mechanisms for the work of territorial communities in difficult conditions requires further study.

Resumen
Compared to the conventional linkage mapping, linkage disequilibrium (LD)-mapping, using the nonrandom associations of loci in haplotypes, is a powerful high-resolution mapping tool for complex quantitative traits. The recent advances in the development of unbiased association mapping approaches for plant population with their successful applications in dissecting a number of simple to complex traits in many crop species demonstrate a flourish of the approach as a “powerful gene tagging” tool for crops in the plant genomics era of 21st century. The goal of this review is to provide nonexpert readers of crop breeding community with (1) the basic concept, merits, and simple description of existing methodologies for an association mapping with the recent improvements for plant populations, and (2) the details of some of pioneer and recent studies on association mapping in various crop species to demonstrate the feasibility, success, problems, and future perspectives of the efforts in plants. This should be helpful for interested readers of international plant research community as a guideline for the basic understanding, choosing the appropriate methods, and its application.

Resumen
Introduction: Tongan-Americans face severe disparities in health including diabetes, cardiovascular disease, and cancer. Educational disparities also affect health opportunities and well-being, influencing health status and community capacity to address disparities. Few resources have been identified within the Tongan-American community to address these concerns. The Tongan American Health Professionals Association (TAHPA) was conceived to identify and develop health and health career resources for the Tongan community. Through TAHPA, the Tongan-American community is utilizing a communityempowerment approach to address disparities and well-being. Methods: TAHPA was formed in 2008 through the leadership of individuals with a vision of a healthier Tongan-American community. TAHPA's purpose was to inspire and empower the Tongan-American community by developing an organization of Tongan-American health care professionals and pre-professionals, celebrating their accomplishments, and providing resources and support for educational and career development. Founders gathered in small work groups in community settings to discuss health concerns, well-being and solutions. Key community members facilitated the process to establish goals and objectives. Next Steps: To date, 40 Tongan health professionals and pre-professionals have become members. TAHPA's vision and outreach processes have been developed. TAHPA’s uniqueness and strength is that it is rooted in the community, created by the community to serve the community.

Resumen
Bamboo is a plant from India, South America, and South Africa. It is a renewable resource because it does not need seeds for reproduction. Among its multiple uses, the best known is the use of wood, as well. It has culinary properties and is used for meals such as stews and salads. Bamboo is a natural resource that is a fundamental part of the development of the economy of rural communities in Peru. This research aimed to analyze the socioeconomic and environmental aspects that have to do with the cultivation of bamboo in the district of Imaza, specifically in the Native community of Umukai - Nazareth. The study sample consisted of bamboo producers from the Apacun Majai Agropiscícolas Association. This research was basic, non-experimental, with a quantitative approach. The methodology applied was a structured survey applied to the community under study. The main results showed that bamboo is part of the alternatives for the recovery and strengthening of soils due to its rapid growth, firmness in the earth, and carbon capture. In the same way, it was verified in the main results that bamboo favors the economic, productive, and social aspects of the studied community, contributing to sustainable rural development.

Resumen
The Philippine Mining Act of 1995 mandated mining companies to contribute to the development of host and neighboring communities through Social Development Management Programs (SDMP). The subsequent CSR Act of 2011 and 2013 further institutionalized Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) nationwide. This research examines the implementation of CSR and SDMP by two mining companies in Benguet, Lepanto Consolidated Mining Company and Philex Mining Corporation. It explores the strategies employed, their effectiveness, challenges encountered, and their association with project implementation. Data was collected through questionnaires and interviews, supported by primary and secondary sources. Findings show that programs related to education, livelihood, and infrastructure development were more extensively and effectively implemented, with integrated planning and a mix of top-down and bottom-up strategies contributing to success. The impact on host communities was particularly positive in social and economic aspects, with minimal effects on technological, political, and environmental aspects. Challenges ranged from resource limitations to community ambivalence, natural events, and legal complications. The study concludes that a dual standard exists due to the prioritization of mandatory SDMP programs over non-mandatory CSR initiatives, despite communities perceiving them as nearly identical. Recommendations include making CSR mandatory and complementary to SDMP, enhancing monitoring, and securing support from local governments and NGOs. Strategic implementation and effective strategies are crucial for realizing responsible mining in Benguet.

Resumen
Macrophytes are important structural attributes of freshwater ponds and wetlands, affecting zooplankton community composition. One of the best-known macrophytes in the world is Eichhornia crassipes, which, due to its high reproductive rate, can quickly occupy large areas of aquatic environments. However, there have been few assessments of the direct effect of this macrophyte, in the absence of predators, for tropical zooplankton communities. The aim of this study was to evaluate the influence of E. crassipes on microcrustacean community structure using species and functional diversity, the latter providing an important tool to evaluate the response to changes in resource availability along an environment gradient. We also evaluated which functional traits were favored when the structural niche offered by submerged parts of the macrophytes was present. We conducted a 30 day mesocosm experiment (117 m3) with and without the presence of floating macrophytes (Eichhornia crassipes) inserted along one edge of the mesocosms. Treatment effects on microcrustacean density and community structure using taxonomic and functional classification approaches were assessed. There was a positive association between macrophyte presence and microcrustacean diversity for both diversity types, showing that the presence of macrophytes enhanced the niche availability for the microcrustacean community, likely through changes to resource diversity through habitat structure provision. In the presence of macrophytes, the abundance of species with the following feeding traits increased: burrowing, benthic habitat preference, and herbivore–detritivore and omnivore–carnivore trophic groups. Results showed that the species capable of using the niche offered by submerged macrophyte structures had benthic traits, enabling their co-existence with species possessing primarily pelagic traits. Using a functional approach, our study demonstrated that Eichhornia crassipes can structure microcrustacean communities and promote diversity, likely via increased habitat diversity, which enables the co-existence of species possessing different adaptations to acquiring resources available in the environment.

Resumen
Background Persons living with dementia and their caregivers need health information to understand and manage daily life. Previous studies focused on the associations of health literacy and cognitive impairment with less exploring if and how individuals develop health literacy during the course of the disease. Purpose This descriptive qualitative study aimed to explore the development of health literacy competencies among persons living with dementia and their caregivers. Methods Directed content analysis of six focus groups conducted in the community setting (15 persons living with dementia and 28 caregivers) was completed, using predetermined categories from the Integrated Model of Health Literacy: access, understand, appraise, and apply health information. Findings Participants described developing health literacy competencies over time, moving from a dependence on health care providers to becoming their own experts. Although health care providers were involved in the diagnosis and medication management, most participants admitted that they provided very little information on how to manage their daily life with dementia and often failed to inform them of community resources. Conclusion Participants seemed to find dementia resources on their own for both education and support, often stumbling upon them by accident. Health care providers should promote the health literacy competencies of their patients and caregivers by more intentionally providing dementia health and community resource information.

Resumen
Connectivity within Association of Southeast Asian nation (ASEAN) member countries becomes a central issue in view of the ASEAN Economic Community 2015. However, progress towards ASEAN connectivity especially for infrastructure developments has been limited. One of the problems is the resource mobilization for project financing. In recent years, rising demand for Islamic securities among global investors in jurisdictions where legal framework and financial infrastructure are well established has made sukuk a cost effective and preferred method of raising finance. It has also attracted liquidity to and has made Malaysia a leading global sukuk issuer and a leading Islamic financial hub. This paper is a case study on how Malaysia has used the Public-private partnership (PPP) for infrastructure development and how this has extended into Islamic financing and further examines how this model can be expanded into other ASEAN member countries in particular the Cambodia, Vietnam, Laos and Myanmar (CVLM) countries where issues of infrastructure financing is critical and need to be quickly resolved in view of an enhanced ASEAN connectivity and the future of an ASEAN community development.

Resumen
The paper explores and compares the aims of the three most common legal forms of inter-municipal cooperation in Poland (engaging rural, urban-rural and urban municipalities) during the years 1990–2018: Mono-sectoral Special Purpose Unions, Municipal Associations and cross-sectoral Local Action Groups. Content analysis was applied and development priorities from the statutes and strategies were studied. The main form of territorial association evolved from, initially, mono-functional bodies concerned mainly with local infrastructural investment and managed solely by a group of local authorities, to a devolved type, consisting of multi-purpose associations managed with the participation of economic and third sector representatives. This was the result of the European Union policy of promoting territorial governance and integrated development in functional regions, this being considered as part of the process of Europeanisation. However, these successive forms of municipal cooperation do not appear to have replaced the pre-existing forms, but they have introduced additional modes of governance of local resources. The findings show that the most "integrated" and "sustainable" management of local resources is observed mainly in cross-sectoral partnerships, like Local Action Groups, but not so often in mono-sectoral municipal unions and associations led solely by local government and focused more on hard infrastructure and municipal facilities. However, given the specialisation shown by each of the three types of association, it is likely that the full range of development possibilities in the areas concerned can only be realised if all three forms of cooperation are present. The analysis confirms the positive role of local economic and social sector participation in shaping sustainable development. The findings also indicate the utility of the concept of cross-sectoral territorial partnerships in post-socialist and post-authoritarian countries lacking traditions of grassroots or participative development.

Resumen
Purpose – The purpose of this paper is to address the decreasing role of professional associations in governing the work of entrepreneurial, knowledge-intensive professions such as management consulting. It presents the example of an alternative path to traditional professional regulation. This organic professionalization path is introduced through the concept of dispersed institutional entrepreneurship. Design/methodology/approach – The paper builds on an in-depth qualitative investigation of professionals in the intercultural industry combining physical and digital ethnography in a multi-modal investigation. Findings – The findings illustrate how an ideological divide within the professional community prevents an emergence of the traditional, association-led professionalization path. Instead, the investigated community follows an organic, bottom-up route, with competing individual entrepreneurs developing converging strategies and products. This process is labelled dispersed institutional entrepreneurship. Research limitations/implications – The findings indicate that current views on professionalization need to reconsider admission criteria and the professionalization paths that are generally assumed. Further research could focus on investigating organic professionalization paths among other professional groups. Originality/value – With an in-depth qualitative investigation of an aspiring professional community this paper contributes to an ongoing discussion on the process of professionalization. The findings show that independent agents’ efforts could be at the centre of the process. They can prevent the professional association from leading the professionalization project while enabling the organic development of synergies across the community.

Resumen
Background: Dementia is commonly accompanied by neurobehavioral symptoms; however, the relationship between such symptoms and health-related outcomes is unclear. Objective: To investigate the impact of specific neurobehavioral symptoms in dementia on healthcare resource use (HCRU), patient quality of life (QoL), and caregiver burden. Methods: Data were taken from the 2015/16 Adelphi Real World Dementia Disease Specific Programme™, a point-in-time survey of physicians and their consulting dementia patients. Multiple regression analyses were used to examine associations between patient symptom groups and health-related outcomes. Results: Each patient symptom group of interest (patients with agitation/aggression and related symptoms [AARS] with psychosis, patients with AARS without psychosis, and patients with other behavioral symptoms) had a positive association with HCRU variables (i.e., HCRU was greater), a negative association with proxy measures of patient QoL (i.e., QoL was decreased), and a positive association with caregiver burden (i.e., burden was greater) compared with patients with no behavioral symptoms (control group). The magnitude of effect was generally greatest in patients with AARS with psychosis. Regression analysis covariates that were found to be most often significantly related to the outcomes were dementia severity and the patients’ living situation (i.e., whether they were in nursing homes or living in the community). Conclusion: Combinations of behavioral symptoms, particularly involving AARS plus psychosis, may have a detrimental impact on health-related outcomes such as HCRU, patient QoL, and caregiver burden in dementia. Our results have implications for intervention development in patients who report clusters of symptoms and caregivers, and for identifying at-risk individuals.

Resumen
By actively adapting urban planning to identified social needs, residential areas tend to be more people-oriented, fairer, resource-saving, and sustainable. The emergence of big data has provided new opportunities for the planning of residential urban areas. Since the quantity and age-appropriateness of neighborhood facilities are important criteria when developing the ideal neighborhood, this study investigated the associations of the number of neighborhood facilities and the age groups within those neighborhoods by using the Wuhan metropolitan area in China as a case study and by applying a Geodetector and regression analysis to points-of-interest data. In terms of age groups, the neighborhood facilities of kindergartens, pharmacies, and bus stations were found to be highly associated with population size, regardless of the age difference. It was also found that convenience stores were closely related to the adult population, and that convenience stores, community hospitals or clinics, and vegetable markets or fresh supermarkets were associated with the elderly population. Facilities without significant correlations were equally important, but it was found that there was no statistical correlation between the number of facilities and the distribution of the population. The weak association of key educational resources and medical resources with the population indicates a concentrated distribution of educational resources and medical resources, and the latent insufficiency of schools, community hospitals, or clinics at some neighborhoods. It concludes that planning of neighborhood facilities for residential areas in Wuhan requires optimization in terms of matching the provision of facilities with population size and social structure. Furthermore, more efforts should be put into supplementing important facilities and building differentiated residential area programs based on age structure.

Resumen
Utilizing relational networking and cultural assets provide an arena for village development associations (VDAs) to fill the gaps in infrastructure in resource-limited communities of Cameroon’s north-west region. This case study interrogates the foundational thesis of relational networking and cultural assets deployed to deal with social development challenges. Semi-structured interviews were undertaken with community participants. Purposive sampling was used, and data were analyzed and critically synthesized with comparative literature. Communities increasingly shoulder their own development through a multiplicity of the agency displayed by internal and external stakeholders. The analysis captures a typology of incremental cultural assets, galvanized and re-engineered, promoting a rejuvenated community. A multi-layered approach centered on intersecting elements with unvarying input from community members are perceptible. Though the translational benefits are not clear-cut, relational networking and incremental cultural assets hold the prospect for community transformation in infrastructure provision, for example, supply of fresh water, equipping schools, community halls, and building roads, bridges, and community halls. In the process, social inequality and other barriers of disadvantage are narrowed.

Resumen
The public participation geographic information systems (PPGIS) research agenda has explored the issue of equitable access and use of geographic information systems (GIS) and spatial data among traditionally marginalized citizens, in order to facilitate effective citizen participation in inner-city revitalization activities. However, prior research indicates that PPGIS is a complex process, with uneven outcomes. The author contends that such unevenness can be explained by use of a new theoretical framework drawn from the literature of politics of scale and networks. The author contends that the PPGIS process occurs in ‘spaces of dependence’, containing localized social relations and place-specific conditions. The politics of securing this space leads to the creation of ‘spaces of engagement’ at multiple scales. Within these spaces, networks of association evolve to connect multiple actors from public and private sectors with community organizations. Such networks can contain structural inequities, hierarchical dominance, and fluctuating resources. But these networks also transcend political boundaries and are dynamic and flexible, enabling individuals to manipulate and modify them. In trying to control the revitalization agendas and the material resources required, the actors and community organizations construct politics of scale. For some community organizations, such scalar politics and creative alliances with critical actors allow them to navigate territorially scaled networks of power skillfully in order to gain an effective voice in decisionmaking activities. But other community organizations lag behind, and are not able to form relationships in order to secure their urban space. By the use of new empirical data, coupled with a new theoretical framework, the author aims to contribute both to greater theorization and to better understanding of the uneven and contradictory nature of PPGIS processes.

Resumen
The purpose of this study was to examine, through a retrospective lens, the effects that collegiate community service has on the career development of student-athletes under the umbrella of functional motivation theory. To do so, researchers analyzed the career development of seven former Southeastern Conference (SEC) student-athletes who were awarded membership to the SEC Community Service team through both individual and team contributions. NCAA Division-I student-athletes face hindrances through time restraints but also have resources designed to enhance academic and vocational development, such as the National Collegiate Athletic Association’s Life Skills program (formerly CHAMPS). Through phone interviews focused on reflective collegiate community service and career development, several themes emerged. For collegiate community service the most common themes were: Service Settings, Current Service, and Time Restraints. For career development, the major themes were: Working with Diverse Groups, Scholarship and Admittance into Graduate Programs, and Career Choice/Personal Values. In analysis, the majority of the discovered themes align firmly with the National Association of College and Employer’s (NACE) career readiness competencies.

Resumen
There is a substantial body of literature in North America regarding the social acceptance of renewable energies, particularly wind energy. However, limited research focuses on the experiences of Indigenous Peoples. Furthermore, several researchers have called for a rapid transition to renewable energies in Indigenous off-grid diesel powered communities in Canada, while limited research has considered local support for this transition, which neglects the Indigenous right of free, prior, and informed consent for developments on or which affect their territories. Working in partnership with nine Indigenous off-grid communities in southeast Labrador, we assess community-member perceptions and support of sustainable energies via hybrid interviews/surveys (n = 211) and key informant interviews (n = 11). Applying directed content analysis and participatory methodologies, we find that five primary themes influence Indigenous support for sustainable energies in southeast Labrador: (1) Community familiarity and understanding; (2) association with previous projects; (3) relationships with culture and sustenance; (4) endogeneity of resources; (5) energy security impacts. The themes should be viewed as a framework for understanding community support, not a definitive recipe for reaching consent. Applying these themes, we demonstrate broad community support for conventional renewables (wind, solar), reluctance towards emerging renewables (biomass, tidal, wave) and energy storage (pumped hydro, battery), and wide opposition for hydroelectricity and small modular nuclear. We demonstrate that energy efficiency applications maintain substantially higher support than most supply-side options. Supply-side sustainable energies have the potential to perpetuate the colonial or extractive nature of resource development in Indigenous communities, while energy efficiency applications more directly facilitate energy security and protect energy sovereignty.

Resumen
31 Background: CCC delivery is recommended in guidelines, required by accreditation bodies, and essential for high-quality cancer management. Barriers, such as insufficient reimbursement and lack of specialist staff, prevent consistent access to and delivery of CCC, particularly supportive oncology services. Challenges especially persist in community programs, where access to philanthropy and similar funding is limited. ACCC conducted a representative survey of its member programs to elucidate capacity and barriers to CCC delivery in the community/academic setting in order to inform policy and value-based payment reform. Methods: Survey development methodology included item generation with expert review, iterative piloting and cognitive interviews to achieve content and internal validity. An online survey was piloted at the ACCC 2018 Annual Meeting and sent to member programs via email link. The final survey included 22 questions on availability and funding for supportive services. Twenty-seven supportive oncology services were assessed for availability, reasons not offered, reimbursement/funding and patient payment. Analyses were conducted with SAS. Results: 172 of 704 ACCC member programs responded and completed the majority of survey as of 10/7/19. Despite a high proportion of programs offering supportive oncology services, gaps between cost and reimbursement were present for all (Table). Deficits in reimbursement are compensated by patient out-of-pocket payments, grants and donations. Most centers report needing more staffing in psychology (61%), social work (60%), navigation (59%), nutrition (57%), palliative care (56%), genetic counseling (52%), and financial counseling (53%). Gaps were observed regardless of region or practice type. Conclusions: There is a lack of sufficient reimbursement, staffing, and budget to provide CCC across the U.S., regardless of region or practice type. Oncology care models and reimbursement policies must include CCC services to optimize delivery of care.

Resumen
Studying the interspecific association and stability of herbaceous communities in different developmental stages of tiankeng is helpful to understand the relationship between tiankeng vegetation and the environment, and can provide an important theoretical basis for the protection and restoration of the karst tiankeng ecosystem. In this study, the herbaceous community of the Dashiwei Tiankeng Group in Guangxi was studied to analyze the interspecific relationships and community stability of herbaceous plants in four different habitats (the earlier stage, middle stage, late stage and the external forest of tiankeng), and to explore whether the herbaceous community structure gradually stabilized with the development of tiankeng. The variance ratio (VR), X2 test, association coefficient (JI) and the Spearman rank correlation coefficient test were used to analyze the interspecific association of the main herbaceous plants in different developmental stages of tiankeng. The stability of the herbaceous community was analyzed by the stability measurement method of M. Godron. The results showed that: (1) the logarithm of the middle stage of tiankeng negatively correlated species was the highest (56.7%), and the logarithm of the later stage of tiankeng positively correlated species was the highest (57.2%). The positive and negative correlation ratio of main herbs decreased first and then increased, indicating that the middle stage of development was the period of high competition among herbs and the biggest difference in resource utilization. The ecological habits of herbaceous plants will be changed from sciophiles to hygrophytes to heliophiles and drought-enduring plants. (2) The earlier stage and middle stage of tiankeng overall relevance had a significant negative correlation, the later stage and external forest of tiankeng overall correlation were not significant positive correlation, and the X2 test and the Spearman rank correlation coefficient of different developmental stages of tiankeng most major herbaceous species were not significant correlation, suggesting that the major herbs in tiankengs had weak association and strong independence. (3) The distance from the intersection point to the stable point (20, 80) was 19.799, 17.867, 18.922 and 17.706, respectively, of the four regression models of tiankengs herb community, which further indicated that the forest herb layers were in an unstable state. The forest outside is relatively more stable than the herbaceous community inside the tiankeng.
