Resumen
Child protection is a primary and challenging issue for every country in the world. Instead of being educated at school, many children in India are involved in various activities such as working in hotels as servants, paperboys and doing the work of a salesperson due to various reasons like poverty, inequality and social and economic discrimination. There is a need for creating a favourable atmosphere and safe space for the overall development of the children. It is the responsibility of every individual, society, and government to protect children from various exploitative threats, abuse and violence that prevail in the societal structure. Parental care increases the strength and develops positive integration towards the community and society. Hence, the role of a family is very crucial in the overall development of the children. The present paper deals with a theoretical explanation of child protection and discusses the prevailing conditions of child protection in society. Resumen
Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic spread in India is steeply rising. A 21-day lockdown has been imposed by the Government of India, to curtail its spread. This has impacted all walks of life, including the availability of food, and nutrition related services. This will impact nutritional status of children throughout India. The two major schemes, i.e. the Integrated Child Development Scheme and the Mid-day meal services scheme have also been affected leading to a risk of worsening of child nutrition. Some states have evolved their own strategies to mitigate the effect of lockdown during this crisis period. Here we discuss the challenges and way forward related to ensuring availability of food for child nutrition during this health crisis.

Resumen
Abstract Aim The purpose of this review is to summarize the scientific literature that examined the importance of physical activity programs in the development of body scheme in primary school students by identifying methods and tests used to test body scheme on motor development, spatial-temporal orientation and coordination. Method Using the electronic databases Research Gate and Web of Science, we searched for articles using key words, including terms related to methods, intervention plan, children’s age and body schemes. We selected only those that followed the influences of an intervention plan on children. Results We selected 30 articles regarding the development of the body scheme, the spatial-temporal orientation and the coordination through an activity plan. The study results in the three categories show a significant influence on body scheme, spatial orientation and coordination. Following the tests applied and the results obtained, we can say that a well-structured program of physical activity influences the child’s development in terms of body scheme. If it is correctly integrated, one can avoid the existence of body diagram disorders that are quite common for children. Conclusion The harmonious physical development of the child is influenced by a program of physical activity. Early participation in these programs is recomended in order to avoid disorders of body scheme.

As India becomes more and more developed and we have greater means at our disposal, our response to our health challenges must reflect our changing health and socio-economic status. India faces enormous challenges in the area of women’s and children’s health. These findings point to the importance of investing in various growth factors and sanitation, and educating the public about hygiene to promote health knowledge and better child outcomes. As importantly, such investments have the potential of making the feeding program more effective. Resumen
The author of the article propose new models of energy-saving envelope structures with air interlayers. To calculate the temperature fields in the enclosing structures they used the finite element modeling method in ANSYS environment. The authors analyzed the temperature fields at different variants of the outdoor temperature index. To calculate the temperature field in the envelope was used finite element model of the envelope, in which the influence of the ventilated air layer is replaced by the Convection type boundary condition with the temperature value. The result of the study is the analysis of temperature fields of new models of enclosures in different variants. So when analyzing the values of thermal resistance of traditional (scheme-1) and developed envelope structures (schemes 2-4) it was found that the thermal resistance of scheme-2 relative to the traditional scheme-1 value of thermal resistance at minimum temperature is 6.2 % higher. The authors also calculated by analogy the thermal resistance index at maximum temperature (4.5 %), at five days (5.8 %) and for the month of April (5.7 %). The analysis showed that scheme-2 is the most efficient of the new envelope schemes considered. In the comparative analysis of schemes - 3,4 with traditional scheme-1, the value of thermal resistance showed a negative effect. The authors determined that the temperature field is insignificantly different when using horizontal and vertical closed channels. The developed new energy-saving designs of external enclosure with air layer can be used in the design and construction of buildings, as well as in the teaching of relevant disciplines in universities.

Resumen
Abstract Many developing countries use employment guarantee programs to combat poverty. This study examines the consequences of such employment guarantee programs for the human capital accumulation of children. It exploits the phased roll-out of India’s flagship Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGA) to study the effects on enrollment in schools and child labor. Introduction of MGNREGA results in lower relative school enrollment in treated districts. It also finds that the drop in enrollment is driven by primary school children. Children in higher grades are just as likely to attend school under MGNREGA, but their school performance deteriorates. Using nationally representative employment data, the study finds evidence indicating an increase in child labor highlighting the unintentional perverse effects of the employment guarantee schemes for human capital.

Resumen
AbstractThis study takes China's one‐child policy (OCP)—a widely known policy intervention for family planning—as an example to illustrate that an income‐based penalty scheme for above‐quota births may cause fertility inequality. A couple can legally have only one child under the OCP, and those who exceed the quota are subject to fines. To ensure that this penalty scheme does not biasedly affect only low‐income people who are relatively more sensitive to fines of a certain amount, it was designed to be income‐based, which makes the perceived cost of the rich equal to that of the poor. However, we find that due to the limited liability nature of the financial penalty, it unintentionally created fertility inequality that favors the poor. Relying on city‐year‐level panel data, we find that this mechanism partly explains the lower birth rates in rich cities in the OCP era; the gap narrowed rapidly after the OCP abolition.

Resumen
Era has transformed. A global attention to various issues in the society has reached an unprecedented level as nations prepare themselves to achieve higher economic growth. The future of India, rests on the foundation being laid today. Children of today are the leaders of tomorrow. If the role of children in the development of the nation is so important, the role of the way they are being brought up is much more important. And here comes the issue of raising a girl in a family as compared to boys. As we know the status of girl child stands very low in Indian society hence there is a low sex ratio in our country. In the process of preparation of the future builders of the nation it has become very important to look towards this issue very seriously. Even after more than seventy years of independence the situation is no more different. Considering these factors in mind the government of Jammu and Kashmiri has started few projects for the benefit of women and girls. Ladli Beti scheme is one of them which is started as a pilot project in few districts of Kashmir and Jammu showing low child sex ratio in April 2015 under the Integrated Child Development Service Scheme. The present study was thus carried to know about the Ladli Beti Scheme and its functioning. Also who are benefitted by the scheme, the problems faced by the beneficiaries in availing this scheme and any change if brought so far. The present study was carried on a total of 24 AWCs. A total of 96 parents were interviewed for the study. The results showed 18.75% of the parents were benefitted by the scheme 76.04% of the parents were not benefitted by the scheme. It was found that the beneficiaries should be provided proper help and guidance time to time by the authorities for proper benefit of the scheme. Some more efforts and focus is required by the authorities towards the scheme.

Resumen
Abstract Objectives Small-quantity lipid-based nutrient supplements (SQ-LNS) are designed to address malnutrition among infants and toddlers during complementary feeding. There is currently limited research assessing children's acceptability (i.e., behavioral response to the taste) of these supplements, and acceptability may predict long term consumption of these foods. We aimed to adapt a video coding protocol for use in naturalistic settings to determine child food acceptance. Methods Infants (ages 7 to 24 months) were fed two versions of an SQ-LNS (sweetened, unsweetened) mixed with a familiar food (e.g., infant oatmeal, banana) by mothers at two different study sites: a laboratory in Denver, Colorado (n = 56; 86% Non-Hispanic White) and family homes in the state of Morelos, Mexico (n = 62). Trained coders used a video coding (VC) scheme to rate child acceptance of each spoon offer using a 4-point scale (0 = refusal, 1 = enforced, 2 = acceptance, 3 = anticipation). The VC scheme was subsequently adapted for use as: 1) a live coding (LC) scheme to be used in participant homes, and 2) a video live coding (VLC) scheme to be used as a reliability check on the LC scheme. The LC scheme was tested with a sample of infants and caregivers (n = 20) selected using stratified sampling [infant age, supplement group (sweetened, unsweetened)] from the Mexico trial. One coder rated the infants’ responses to the SQ-LNS while observing the feeding interaction in the home. A second coder rated the same infants’ responses while later watching a video of the feeding (VLC). To simulate LC, the second coder did not pause the video. Intra-class correlation coefficients (ICC) were calculated to assess inter-rater reliability between sites and coding methods. Results Reliabilities for VC between Denver and Mexico coders were excellent (ICC > .94), as were reliabilities for coders within study sites (ICCs > .95). Reliabilities calculated between coders utilizing different coding methods were moderate (VLC and LC: ICC = .75), good (LC and VC: ICC = .87), or excellent (VC and VLC: ICC = .93). Conclusions Our LC scheme demonstrated good reliability with a VC scheme to assess infant acceptability of an SQ-LNS. Since traditional VC is both resource and time-intensive, our LC scheme may be useful for assessing infant food acceptance in resource-limited settings. For the years our thinking about parenthood was dominated for the scheme of relation mother – child. Contemporary the role the father plays in the family and during bring up the child is more preciours. The role of father in the family is of Vital importance, but many fathers cannot play it. Beside good ones, there are also the absent, weak and “poisonous” fathers. “Poisonous” fathers are the worst ones - destroying the childs' personality by using physical or psychological violence. A good father is a real gift in the childs' life. This article presents the narrations of the Adult Children of Parents' Divorce regarding their fathers from their childhood. The article shows huge fathers' influence on the life and social development their children. That is proved, that divorce breakes off the emontional and spiritual bonds between parents (expecialy fathers) and their children after divorce.

Abstract Objective To develop and validate a behavioral coding measure, the Children's Behavior Coding System-PACU (CBCS-P), for children's distress and nondistress behaviors while in the postanesthesia recovery unit. Methods A multidisciplinary team examined videotapes of children in the PACU and developed a coding scheme that subsequently underwent a refinement process (CBCS-P). To examine the reliability and validity of the coding system, 121 children and their parents were videotaped during their stay in the PACU. Participants were healthy children undergoing elective, outpatient surgery and general anesthesia. The CBCS-P was utilized and objective data from medical charts (analgesic consumption and pain scores) were extracted to establish validity. Results Kappa values indicated good-to-excellent (κ's > .65) interrater reliability of the individual codes. The CBCS-P had good criterion validity when compared to children's analgesic consumption and pain scores. Conclusions The CBCS-P is a reliable, observational coding method that captures children's distress and nondistress postoperative behaviors. These findings highlight the importance of considering context in both the development and application of observational coding schemes.

Resumen
Background: Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) scheme is the leading outreach program aimed at promoting maternal and child health care and help in strengthening the implementation of MCH activities like immunization, growth monitoring, supplementation of vitamin A and iron folic acid tablets. Hence, ICDS takes holistic approach in development of children and attempts to improve their prenatal and post-natal environment. Hence the present study was undertaken to study the awareness and utilization of ICDS scheme by expectant mothers and nursing mothers in coastal Karnataka. Objectives of current study were to study the awareness and utilization of services offered to mothers under ICDS 2 and to assess the perception about the services. Methods: A community based cross sectional study was done among 141 mothers registered in anganwadis. Results: Majority were aware of SN (96.5%) followed by TT immunization (89.4%) and NHED (22%). The most common service utilized by the study subjects was supplementary nutrition (94.3%) followed by NHED (24.1%) and home visit (23.4%). Larger proportion of the study subjects were of opinion that SN food of good quality (57.1%) and almost 96.2% mothers said food was of adequate quantity. Conclusions: Among the eligible expectant and nursing mothers, majority of them utilized supplementary nutrition. Nearly 40% of expectant and nursing mothers were not happy about the quality of food offered to them. Nutrition and health education sessions were attended by only 40% of the eligible mothers.

Resumen
AbstractObjectiveLow birth weight is associated with increased lifelong morbidity. Kerala has a renowned, low-cost, maternal–child health system in which is couched universal access to the Integrated Child Development Scheme (ICDS), central to which is community-based maternal–infant nutritional supplementation. We assessed whether children in this environment showed enhanced birth weight and postnatal growth and whether the evolution of early markers of CVD was attenuated in comparison to contemporaries from other states.DesignA part retrospective, part prospective cohort study in which children (n 286) born in 1998–2000 in Calicut were identified from Anganwadi records. They were traced at 6 years and underwent full anthropometry and blood pressure measurements at 6 and 8 years.ResultsMean birth weight (2·86 (sd 0·40) kg) was greater than in Indian contemporaries but consistently <−1sd below the National Center for Health Statistics reference median throughout childhood. Birth weight significantly predicted body mass (BMI) at 8 years. Lower birth weight was strongly predictive of a higher waist:hip ratio (WHR) indicative of adverse central (coelomic) fat distribution (P < 0·01). Faster weight gain in infancy was weakly predictive of a lower WHR (P = 0·59), but faster late childhood growth at 6–8 years was non-significantly predictive of adverse WHR.ConclusionsAt 8 years of age, children in Calicut participating in the ICDS have greater birth weight and relative attenuation of the evolution of early CVD markers compared with children in apparently comparable states. The relative contributions of the ICDS and other factors inherent to Kerala cannot be inferred from the present study.

Resumen
The authors consider the prospects for the development of coal industry and its export potential. The facts of the development of mass transportation of coal by rail in the direction of port transport hubs are given. There is an acute problem of finding new supply channels. In these conditions, it is proposed to start the implementation of a large-scale project for the development of a multimodal transport scheme for the export of coal using river transport. During the 140-day navigation period along the rivers of the Amur Basin in the summer months, a large volume of export coal can be transported to the Far Eastern seaports. Three logistic schemes are proposed and a list of individual subprojects for the development of transport infrastructure for the needs of this project for the transportation of coal from Kuzbass, Krasnoyarsk Territory, Buryatia and Yakutia is given. It is proposed to organize transshipment from railway to river transport in three hubs: Sretensk, Dzhalinda and Verkhnezeisk. Each logistic scheme will be focused on a certain volume of transportation and has its own advantages and disadvantages. The authors invite the transport community to actively discuss this format of transportation due to the urgent need to find ways to develop cargo flows. Each of the three logistic schemes can be considered separately or in combination with others.

Resumen
The relevance of the analysis of child development in the digital world is associated with identifying the range of negative substitutions. Functional substitution shows that an active role belongs to the gadget. A child performs a passive role, receiving full navigation, “wired” in the gadget. Digital interaction forms reactive behavior according to the logic “stimulus - new temptation”. Social substitution is caused by copying a fi nished scheme set by the algorithm. There is no need for joint action, which is a criterion of sociality. Replacing the adult fi gure with a gadget generates a digital loneliness. The child fi nds himself “beyond” the joint work and social obligations, the installation of communication is blocked. The shift of the semantic event center is due to the fact that the child, being in virtual environment, experiences events as real and value-signifi cant. The fact is that gadget-independent motivation and goal-setting disappear. Scenario capture demonstrates the effect of total immersion. In the digital world, the priority scenario of behavior is initially set by algorithms. The convenience and effi ciency of the gadget teach the child to take ready-made schemes of action, giving rise to the illusion of development. Results. In the process of digital interiorization, several types of substitutions have been identifi ed, including functional, social, semantic and scenario capture. They are dangerous with negative effects that deform the development of the child, the cognitive and psycho-mental structure of a personality. The fi nal effect of digital substitutions is the social immaturity of the child in the world of real object-activity relations. Conclusion. The identifi ed substitutions can be evaluated as a part of the global technology aimed at algorithmization of behavioral patterns. There is an acute need for the return of the adult fi gure and the increasing algorithmic responsibility of software developers.

Resumen
Stunting is an impaired growth in children because of long-term insufficient nutrition from conception until the age of two. Regarding Basic Health Research 2018, the prevalence of stunting in Indonesia was 30.8%, higher than the WHO’s target. As stated in the Nutritional Status Monitoring, the prevalence of stunting in Karangasem from 2015 to 2017 was 27.5%, 26.1%, and 23.6% respectively. Early detection of child development status could be utilized as a pilot project to construct an intervention scheme for stunting prevention. This research aims for in-depth learning on the children growth status of stunting toddlers in the village of Ban, including gross motor, fine motor, language and adaptive skills. The research method was a qualitative design with a phenomenological approach. The in-depth interview was arranged with 15 participants sorted by purposive sampling, including 5 stunting toddlers, 5 mothers or babysitters of those toddlers, and 5 health personnel in the field. This result showed impairment of child development in long-term stunting toddlers. Without stimulation from parents, babysitters, and the social environment for those impaired children, they would undergo prolonged developmental failure. The data also showed that the majority of children experienced impairment in fine motor-adaptive skills whereas the gross motor and language skills were still normal. Resumen
Introduction: Maternal and child health (MCH) benefit schemes were introduced to increase institutional deliveries, to reduce out of pocket expenditure, to provide quality care and nutrition to mother and baby and thereby reduce maternal mortality rate and infant mortality rate. Objective: To assess the awareness and estimate the uptake of benefits regarding various MCH benefit schemes among study participants. Methodology: A cross-sectional study was conducted at district hospital, Mangaluru, Karnataka, India, among 250 antenatal women and postnatal mothers. They were interviewed using a semi-structured–validated questionnaire. Data were analysed using Statistical Package for Social Science version 11.5. Result: Awareness for scheme varied, ranging from 94 per cent for Integrated Child Development Service and 0.8 per cent for Rashtriya Bal Swasthya Karyakram. Major source of information being accredited social health activist (40.41%), most of the study participants had a favourable opinion regarding the benefits of MCH schemes. Maximum uptake was seen for Janani Shishu Suraksha Karyakram (100%); however, none of them availed Prasoothi Araike. Conclusion: Our study showed that the awareness and uptake for different MCH-related schemes varied. Most of the study participants had a favourable opinion about the benefits of MCH schemes. Since awareness for some schemes were low, efforts should be made to increase awareness regarding all schemes by displaying the information. Uptake can be increased by proper channelising the resources.
