Resumen
This phenomenological study of the lived experience of professional nurse caring was informed by data from seven coronary care unit patients in Sydney, Australia. A number of themes emerged which indicate that professional nurse caring is primarily experienced as a response to the individual which is tailored to his or her unique needs. This response is mediated through a relationship that is professional in nature alnd cariing in character. In this highly technical environment the professional coronary care nurse enacts this caring response through technical competence, nurturing, and providing structure.

Resumen
The concepts caring science and science of caring have different meanings; however, they are often used interchangeably. The purpose of this paper is to present an overview of the synthesis of the scholarly literature on the definitions of the science of caring and caring science and to affirm the authors’ perspective relating to the language of caring science. Caring science advances the epistemology and ontology of caring. Ideas related to caring science inquiry are presented, and the authors acknowledge the future of caring science as unitary caring science.

Resumen
Background: In forensic psychiatric care, a hermeneutic caring conversation between caregivers and patients can improve health outcomes. The hermeneutic approach entails starting from the whole and involves openness for what is shown as well as paying attention to the different parts. One way to deepen these conversations is to take advantage of both the caregivers’ and the patients’ life experiences. Research questions: The purpose of the study is to discuss and reflect on what hermeneutic caring conversations can mean for a deepened understanding of the movement in the health processes of patients in forensic care, patients who are in deep suffering. Research design: This study uses a hermeneutic methodology. Conversations with patients receiving care in forensic psychiatry are deepened using texts from philosophy, caring science, and poetry. The outcome emerges through a phase of creating patterns. Participants: Three patients in forensic care. Ethical considerations: This study builds on a doctoral thesis approved by The Ethical Review Board at the Faculty of Medical and Health Sciences, Linköping, Sweden. Findings: Hermeneutic caring conversations provide a possibility for rich caring conversations with patients who are often not given a voice. These conversations are seen as ethical expressions of hermeneutic caring communion that affect patients’ health processes in a positive way. Discussion: It takes courage and responsibility to initiate and conduct these conversations as the patients volunteer to share their suffering. In hermeneutic caring conversations, the caregiver’s attitude is crucial for the transference of knowledge. Conclusion: This study provides a preliminary outline for hermeneutic caring conversations. A caring culture that provides time and space to prepare hermeneutic caring conversations is a prerequisite for the implementation of hermeneutic caring conversations.

Resumen
This article discusses the findings about the role of face-to-face carers groups which emerged from a qualitative, interpretive study of 37 former carers’ experiences. The study was informed by grounded theory and semi-structured in-depth interviews were used as the main method of data collection. The advantages and disadvantages of carers groups during caring and post-caring that were identified are presented. These include the nature of the support they provided for their members, their limitations and ways in which they can be developed in order to meet the needs of carers and former carers. The concepts of social integration and social support are used to supplement the interviewees’ explanations of the beneficial effects of carers groups. Following the discussions, suggestions are made about further research into increasing the effectiveness of carers groups’ in meeting the needs of those who are caring and their previously unrecognized role in meeting post-caring needs.
