This thesis takes Discursive Psychology as its main theoretical influence. Drawing on the resources of Discursive Psychology and utilising analytic tools provided by Conversation Analysis, these principles are applied to the study of addiction, and specifically alcohol problems. The data explored are telephone calls to an alcohol helpline. Four analytic chapters are presented. The first focuses on the concept of loss of control over drinking, identifying features of how this concept is constructed in talk and suggests possible functions of control talk for both callers and Advice Workers. The second analytic chapter examines how Advice Workers respond to callers' professed impaired control over their drinking and I demonstrate that embedded in discursive sequences of problem formulation and advice giving are issues of agency, accountability and responsibility. The thesis moves on to explore the role of knowledge in calls to an alcohol helpline and the analysis reveals that both the expert status of the Advice Worker and the speciality of the topic are co-constructed between the speakers on the helpline. The final analytic chapter features just one telephone call and demonstrates the application of such an analysis for alcohol service providers. The thesis ends with a discussion of the main overall findings and the implications of the research for clinical practice. I close by arguing that initial agency contact is a very important site of study and recommend that this should be explored utilising naturally-occurring talk.

Variation in advertisement call structure of whistling frogs, Litoria ewingi, was studied among breeding sites in the vicinity of Christchurch on the East coast and Harihari on the West coast of the South Island. Males vocalized in breeding choruses throughout the year and females moved toward and appeared to evaluate calls of territorial males before initiating amplexus. Acoustic interactions between neighbours led to modification of call structure and timing, and wrestling matches between males were frequent. I quantified call structure for 1623 calls of 168 individuals using 24 call parameters. Most temporal characteristics were significantly correlated with the caller's body temperature and dominant frequency was negatively correlated with body size. These results are consistent with the prediction of temperature-dependent metabolic rates in a poikilotherm's nervous system. I compared call structure among the study populations using both multivariate and univariate analyses. Advertisement call structure showed highly significant variation among populations for most call variables. The greatest difference occurred between the West and East coast populations, and a clinal trend occurred in the East coast populations on a microgeographic scale. Variation among East coast populations in some variables was comparable to the scale of variation between coasts. These results suggest that whistling frogs exhibit natal philopatry. I obtained repeated recordings for 21 individuals and examined variation in call structure within and among individuals using nested multivariate analyses of variance. Highly significant variation occurred both within and among individuals for most call characters, but certain call characters were more variable among individuals. This suggests that whistling frog advertisement calls are individually distinctive.

<p> This phenomenological study seeks to explore the lived experiences that have led Millennials through a meaning-making process to discover their callings. The primary research question framing this study addresses what the relationship is between Millennials’ meaning-making process and the discovery of their calling. Secondary questions address how Millennials who have found their calling define and conceptualize the concept and sources of calling, what the lived experiences are that have led Millennials to discover their calling, and how Millennials make meaning of the experiences and influences that have led them to discover their calling. </p><p> Perceiving and living a calling is associated with various life and work outcomes such as life satisfaction/meaning, job satisfaction, and meaningful work. However, little is known about how callings develop. Furthermore, there remain conflicting views on the conceptualization and source of calling. In addition, the existing research on calling is focused primarily on previous generations, university students, and individuals of religious-based backgrounds. It is important for researchers and practitioners to understand how members of the Millennial generation develop a calling, because this generation is currently in the workforce and is reported to be the biggest U.S. generation yet. While there is significant research on the career expectations of Millennials and how they value meaning in their work, there is little known about what experiences lead them to develop their callings and how they make meaning of those experiences to discern their callings. Thus, this study extends the body of research beyond these groups to Millennials who are currently in the workforce and living their callings in order to ensure that their perspectives and experiences of calling are incorporated into the literature. </p><p> Eight Millennials who are currently living their calling were selected for participation in this interview-based study. The findings of the study are presented within the following three main themes: the conceptualization of calling, the lived experiences in developing a calling, and the meaning-making process as it pertains to developing a calling. Bases on these findings, conclusions were developed and implications and recommendations are suggested.</p><p>

<p> While having a calling can produce great results, in recent studies on calling the key to reaping the rewards has been closely linked to being able to live out the call. For pastors in particular, “The Call” is fundamental to their lives and work. Most enter the ministry because of a deep sense of calling from God. A pastor’s relationship with God is also key in this experience and was hypothesized to be a factor in the calling model for this career subgroup. The goal of this study was to explore how pastors experience calling in their lives and work; specifically, the relation between belief in their calling, fulfillment of that calling, life satisfaction, and how satisfaction in their relationship with God might interplay throughout the process. After accounting for missing data and outliers, the study sample consisted of 144 pastors enrolled in an online leadership development tool. Participants ranged in age from 23 to 98, 80% identified as male, and 98.6% were Protestant. Regression analyses were performed using the PROCESS macro in SPSS to estimate a moderated mediation (Model 58). The proposed mediated relationship was significant, with calling fulfillment mediating the relationship between calling belief and life satisfaction for pastors in this sample (<i> R</i><sup>2</sup> = 0.215, <i>F</i>(2, 141) = 19.274, <i> p</i> < .001). The proposed moderating role of satisfaction in relationship with God was not a significant predictor at either proposed stage. Overall, these results reveal that for pastors, the key in the relationship from calling to life satisfaction is living out the calling.</p><p>

Actualmente, la tendencia de los establecimientos de salud del primer nivel de atención es usar las herramientas de gestión básicas para el diseño de Planes operativos, que respondan a las necesidades de la demanda en contraste con la oferta, así como rescatar la importancia de su diseño correcto, lo cual se enfatiza en los estudios de “la demanda asistencial de salud”, es decir tomar en cuenta a los usuarios de los servicios como determinantes de la utilización de los mismos.
Objetivo General: Determinar el perfil de salud de las familias que habitan en los 06 sectores del AA.HH. Puerto Nuevo - Callao, y su relación con la planificación local participativa, entre los meses de Noviembre 2007 a Enero 2008.
Material y métodos: Investigación Cuantitativa-Cualitativa, Aplicada. Se realizó la triangulación de 3 etapas: 1° Descriptiva, de corte transversal y observacional, mediante una Encuesta estructurada a las 600 viviendas del AA.HH. Puerto Nuevo – Callao; 2° Exploratoria, en base a una entrevista a profundidad a los 05 miembros del equipo de gestión del C.S. Puerto Nuevo y 3° Triangulación de las 02 etapas. Para el análisis estadístico se utilizó el programa SPSS versión 11.0, se elaboraron cuadros y gráficos.
Resultados: Existen diversos factores de riesgo identificados que hacen el perfil de salud muy vulnerable: Escasez de servicios básicos y de saneamiento ambiental, hacinamiento familiar, existencia de tosedores crónicos, escasa cultura para la toma de Papanicolau en mujeres, baja cobertura de vacunación infantil, existencia de violencia familiar y drogadicción, no poseen seguro médico, entre otras. El personal de salud fue entrevistado, hallándose actitudes positivas sobre la importancia del Plan local de salud, y negativas sobre su diseño y ejecución.
Conclusiones: El perfil de salud de las familias que habitan en el AA.HH. Puerto Nuevo - Callao no se relaciona con la planificación local del C.S. “Puerto Nuevo”. No considera el perfil de salud real de la comunidad, considerando los datos estadísticos de los registros de producción diaria de las hojas HIS.<br>--- Currently, the trend of the health of primary care is to use the basic management tools for the design of operational plans that meet the needs of demand in contrast to the offer, as well as rescuing the importance of correct design, which is emphasized in the study of "the demand for health care," that is taken into account service users as determinants of use.
General Objective: To determine the health profile of the families who live in these 06 sectors AA.HH. Puerto Nuevo - Callao, and their relationship to local participatory planning, between the months of November 2007 to January 2008.
Materials and Methods: Qualitative-Quantitative Applied Research. We performed triangulation of 3 stages: 1° Descriptive, cross-sectional observational through a structured survey of 600 families from AA.HH. Puerto Nuevo - Callao; 2 ° Exploratory, based on a depth interview with 05 members of the team management “Puerto Nuevo” Health center, and 3 ° Triangulation of 02 stages. The statistical analysis program was used SPSS version 11.0, were produced charts and graphs.
Results: There are several risk factors that make the health profile highly vulnerable: Shortage of basic services and sanitation, overcrowding, existence of cough chronic, low culture for taking Pap test in women, low immunization coverage for children, existence of family violence and drug addiction, do not have medical insurance, among others. The health staff was interviewed, was found positive attitudes about the importance of local health plan, and negative impact on their design and implementation.
Conclusions: The health profile of the families that live in the AA.HH. Puerto Nuevo - Callao isn´t related to the "Puerto Nuevo" Health center´s local planning. It doesn´t consider the real health profile of the community, considering the statistics from the records of daily production of the HIS leaves.<br>Tesis

Actualmente en el país hay muchas instituciones cuya realización de sus funciones no cuenta con un lugar adecuado para dichas tareas. Ejemplos de este tipo se encuentran en todos los ámbitos, ya sea educativo, cultural e institucional. El caso de las municipalidades es un tema conocido. Muchos de estos no poseen un local adecuado para la correcta realización de sus funciones. Casos como el de la municipalidad de Villa El Salvador o el caso del Callao, para citar algunos ejemplos, son comunes a través de todo el país. Muchas de nuestras instituciones no proyectan una imagen institucional adecuada, llegando a ser confundidas con otras actividades. En base a este problema actual mi tema está enfocado en el sector institucional, específicamente en el ámbito de las municipalidades. La propuesta consiste en la reubicación y el diseño del Palacio Municipal del Callao y la repotenciación de la Plaza Grau como Plaza Mayor para el Callao.<br>Tesis

The focus of this dissertation is to analyse the balance between interpretative and vocal ability in bel canto opera, which is traditionally considered as the principal domain of the Stimmediva. The dissertation includes a survey of the characteristics of bel canto, Bellini’s contribution to it and the performance history of his opera Norma. Furthermore, it investigates the German differentiation between Kunstdiva and Stimmediva as exemplified by two major sopranos of the twentieth century,
Maria Callas and Joan Sutherland. Callas’s performance of Norma is universally recognised as a watershed in the performance history of this role, and Sutherland is widely regarded as her most important immediate successor. Their distinct approaches to the scena from Act 1 of Norma are contrasted and compared. Three respondents were asked to evaluate recordings of this scena by
these two artists with regard to style, technique and interpretation. Their responses are presented in table format, and a discussion of the insights that emerge from these form the final part of the dissertation. The conclusion notes the primacy of interpretative ability in the appreciation of vocal performance even within the bel canto style, but argues for a complete integration of dramatic and vocal skills in order to arrive at the ideal interpretation. La industria de equipos para el manejo de contenedores en el Callao abarca (a) la comercialización de equipos fabricados en el extranjero, (b) el ensamblaje, y (c) el servicio posventa. A nivel mundial también cubre la fabricación, la cual no se realiza actualmente en el Callao, pero a través de este planeamiento estratégico se propone la producción de estos equipos, utilizando las instalaciones de las empresas metalmecánicas existentes y su experiencia en la construcción de estructuras.
Se propone la fabricación local, aprovechando la ubicación estratégica que tiene el puerto del Callao, con acceso a todo el continente americano, lo cual reduce costos de logística y transporte. Entre las oportunidades del entorno destaca el crecimiento del comercio mundial, a mayor velocidad que la economía, incrementándose la demanda por equipos para el manejo de los contenedores en los puertos. Estos equipos pueden ser grandes grúas pórticos o equipos móviles, ambos considerados dentro de la industria que cubre este plan estratégico.
A lo largo de este documento se reflejan los antecedentes y la situación general a nivel mundial para detallar el estado del sector en el Callao, donde se nota la presencia de diversas marcas a través de representantes. Se conoció que actualmente las utilidades se basan en los repuestos y en el servicio posventa más que en la fabricación. Sin embargo las expectativas son excelentes motivando el ingreso de nuevos competidores, que se suman a los ya instalados en China, Corea del Sur y Europa, donde está la principal competencia.
Las ventajas competitivas que tiene el Callao para desarrollar esta industria, además de su ubicación, son las siguientes (a) la infraestructura ya existente en las empresas metalmecánicas, principalmente en SIMA; (b) el recurso humano capacitado que existe en el país, y (c) el acceso a tecnología, que en un primer término será importada pero que luego se desarrollará localmente. A lo largo del documento se exponen estrategias para aprovechar las fortalezas existentes y desarrollar nuevas, con lo cual en el año 2025, la industria estará posicionada como líder en América.
Para el desarrollo de estas ventajas competitivas se han planteado seis objetivos de largo plazo: (a) garantizar el 95% de utilización de la capacidad metalmecánica instalada en el Callao, (b) el margen de utilidad asociado a la fabricación y comercialización de equipos será del 6%, (c) el margen de utilidad que generará el servicio posventa será de 10%, (d) en el año 2025 se exportarán 98 grúas pórtico, (e) la exportación de grúas para contenedores llenos, en el 2025, alcanzará las 20 unidades; y (f) se producirá un equipo cuyos componentes electrónicos serán 100% producidos en el Callao.
La forma en que se lograrán estos objetivos de largo plazo es mediante la implementación de las siguientes estrategias: (a) utilizar la infraestructura de las empresas metalmecánicas que operan en el Callao, (b) capacitar constantemente al recurso humano, (c) vender acciones en el mercado bursátil para captar fondos, (d) ofrecer servicios posventa en otros países de América, y (e) fabricar por pedido para satisfacer las necesidades de los clientes, entre otros.<br>Tesis

La presente tesis consta en una investigación que abarca temas como la historia de tipología arquitectónica, estudio de proyectos referenciales, análisis del entorno urbano, usuario, entre otros, con el fin de poder obtener un programa arquitectónico que se adapte a las necesidades de los ciudadanos de la región Callao Sur.
El proyecto consiste en una mediateca ubicada en el distrito de la Perla- Callao. El terreno cuenta con doble acceso, el primero desde la avenida Venezuela, y el segundo desde la calle Elías Chunga. Se puede acceder desde transporte público, privado, y en futuro, por la línea del Metro 2.
El emplazamiento de la Mediateca se encuentra retirado de ambas avenidas, creando espacios públicos de encuentro para los ciudadanos. La arquitectura se divide en tres volúmenes principales. En el medio se encuentra el Hall, al cual se accede desde las plazas ubicadas en ambos frentes. Hacia un lado se encuentra el volumen de los servicios de mediateca y de las oficinas, y hacia el otro, el volumen de servicios complementarios y de servicios generales.
Lo que se propone es una mediateca, que incluya salas de lectura, de investigación, de medios audiovisuales, de información, SUMS, espacios de reunión, entre otros; que complemente a las instituciones educativas y a los ciudadanos de la zona, brindando recursos y servicios indispensables para el desarrollo de tareas académicas e investigaciones. De esta forma, se contribuye a la mejora de la calidad educativa – cultural del Callao, que es fundamental en el desarrollo integral de las personas.<br>This thesis consists in a research that covers topics such as the history of architectural typology, study of reference projects, analysis of the urban environment, user, among others, in order to obtain an architectural program that meets the needs of citizens from the Callao Sur region.
The project consists of a mediatheque located in the district of La Perla- Callao. The property has double access, the first from Venezuela Avenue, and the second from Elias Chunga Street. It can be accessed from public, private and, in the future, through the Metro 2 line.
The mediatheque is retired from both avenues, creating public meeting spaces for citizens. The architecture is divided into three main volumes. In the middle is the Hall, which is accessed from the public squares located on both fronts. To one side is the volume of mediatheque services and offices, and to the other, the volume of complementary services and general services.
What is proposed is a mediatheque, which includes rooms for reading, research, audiovisual media, information, SUMS, meeting spaces, among others; that complements educational institutions and citizens of the area, providing resources and services that are essential for the development of academic tasks and research. In this way, it contributes to the improvement of the educational - cultural quality of Callao, which is fundamental in the integral development of the people.<br>Tesis

El Callao cercado es un distrito que ha crecido exponencialmente a nivel poblacional a lo largo de los años. No obstante, la oferta cultural gratuita no fue de la mano con este crecimiento. La biblioteca municipal actual data del año 1943, y desde entonces, no ha sufrido mayor cambio que la adapte a los tiempos presentes. Esta no solo necesitaba de un incremento de área de lectura para atender a la mayor cantidad de población, sino de nuevos usos que la conviertan en un edificio vigente y variado a nivel funcional, características intrínsecas y actuales de la tipología. Era necesario de un edificio flexible espacialmente, que pueda adaptarse a los cambios en el futuro, pero también de un proyecto que, a pesar de su contemporaneidad, se inserte apropiadamente en un marcado contexto histórico. La presente tesis plantea una alternativa de biblioteca municipal actualizada que, desde el uso, es un complemento a la formación y educación en todas sus etapas, y que, desde lo urbano, aporta animación a la zona monumental y al mismo tiempo fortalece sus características morfológicas respetándolas y respetando el patrimonio edificado presente en el terreno, entendiéndolo como parte del proyecto.<br>The district of Callao, capital of the province of the same name, has had an enormous population growth in recent years. However, the cultural offerings have not increased at a similar rate. The actual municipal library dates from the year 1943, and since then, it hasn’t gone through any transcendent change for it to adapt it to recent times. This building not only needs an increase on square meters, but also on new program that can turn it into a rich mixed-use project. It is necessary for it to be a spatially flexible building that can adapt to future changes, but that is also able, in spite of its contemporaneity, to insert itself as part of a particular historical context. This thesis project presents a potential alternative for a municipal library that, seen from it use, serves as a tool and an aid for education in all of its stages and that, from an urban perspective, generates activity in its immediate context and enhances its morphological characteristics, all while respecting the built heritage that sits on the space, incorporating it as part of the new project.<br>Tesis

La escuela de danza busca ser el espacio seguro para jóvenes de entornos conflictivos y otros jóvenes del Callao que deseen desarrollarse en este arte, donde puedan expresarse y desarrollarse artísticamente teniendo como consecuencia una mejoría en su vida emocional. El usuario principal es el joven de entre 15 y 25 años que busquen desarrollarse en el mundo del arte de la danza, además de aquellos de escasos recursos que están en riesgo de caer en delincuencia.
El lugar donde se emplaza el proyecto es en la Provincia Constitucional del Callao, frente a la Fortaleza Real Felipe. Localiza entre dos de las zonas con más conflictivas del Callao, facilita el acceso a los alumnos.
El principal concepto que se utiliza para el desarrollo del proyecto es el de la arquitectura como bisagra o nexo entre el pasado, el presente y el futuro del lugar, pero enfocado a una arquitectura actual, que brinde espacios ricos formados con materiales contemporáneos y colores que acentúen elementos específicos. Busca ser un edificio ito que pase a formar parte de la identidad del lugar, del cual los chalacos estén orgulloso.
Este respeta su entorno, busca generar espacios privado-públicos y separa los paquetes funcionales del auditorio, escuela y servicios generales para que tengan accesos independientes y puedan funcionar por separado.
A continuación, se presenta la investigación previa al diseño del proyecto.<br>The dance school is a safe space for the jouth living in distresing enviroments, and also a space where other joung people from Callao P. A place where they can express and develop in a artistic way. As a concecuence they improve emotionaly. The user is people between 15 and 25 years old, with few resourses and that are at risk of falling into delincuency acts.
The location is in Constitutional Callao Province, in front of Real Felipe Fortress. It is located between two of the most conflictive zones in Callao, it is easy to acces.
The main concept for the design of it is to understand architecture as a hinge between the past and future of the place, focused on it’s present. It is made out of rich spaces with materials inpired by the port, which is very near the proyect and some elements are colored orange to make them stand out. Also, it has a see through coverage inspired in the old architecture. The building pretends to be a landmark to be proud of.
It respects it’s architectural enviroment, implements private-public spaces and divides the functional packages of auditórium, school and general services in a way that the access to each one is independent.

Se determinaron algunos indicadores biológicos, poblacionales y pesqueros del “cangrejo peludo” Cancer setosus (Molina, 1782) en el área del Callao a fin de brindar algunos elementos técnicos para su ordenamiento pesquero. Se analizaron 4 553 ejemplares provenientes de la pesquería artesanal de la zona del Callao durante el periodo 2006 - 2008. La proporción sexual observada fue diferente al 1:1, siendo los más frecuentes los ejemplares machos, ya que sobre ellos se ejerce mayor presión de pesca, debido a su mayor tamaño y mejor rendimiento en peso. La relación longitud-peso fue del tipo isométrico en ambos sexos, definiéndose como Peso total = 0,0001 * AC^3,10 en machos, y Peso total: 0.0006 * AC^2,77 en hembras y la madurez morfométrica estimada para machos fue de 120,5 mm AC. El crecimiento mostro algunas diferencias entre sexos, los machos alcanzan las mayores tallas (L∞=204.1) y crecen a mayor velocidad (K=0.56), mientras las hembras son de tallas menores (L∞=194.1) y de menor velocidad de crecimiento (K=0.52). Los valores de captura y esfuerzo fueron mayores durante las estaciones de verano y otoño; no se observó una relación directa entre las capturas y las variables ambientales, pero si con el esfuerzo aplicado en las actividades extractivas. Con la información obtenida y analizada se puede afirmar que a pesar de la fuerte presión de pesca que se ejerce sobre este recurso, la población del “cangrejo peludo” soporta el ritmo de la pesquería ejercida durante el periodo de estudio por lo cual, para ser más concluyentes, es importante y necesario realizar mayores estudios, que nos permitan establecer los niveles de captura y esfuerzo óptimos para una actividad sustentable.<br>--- Some biological, population, and fisheries indicators of “hairy crab” Cancer setosus (Molina, 1782) were determined in the area of Callao with the purpose of providing some technical elements for fisheries management. First, 4 553 specimens from Callao’s artisanal fishery area were analyzed during the period 2006 to 2008. The observed sexual proportion differs from 1:1, which is the most frequent measure between male specimens since a major pressure of fishing is exercised over them due to their larger size and better performance according to their weight. Along with that, the relationship between length and weight was isometric in both sexes; defined as Peso total = 0,0001 * AC^3,10 in males, and Peso total: 0.0006 * AC^2,77 in females. Besides, morphometric maturity for males was estimated as 120.5 mm AC. The growth also showed some differences between both sexes, males reach larger sizes (L∞=204.1) and grow more rapidly (K=0.56), while females are smaller size (L∞=194.1) and lower growth rate (K=0.52). The capture and effort values were higher during summer and autumn; there was no direct relationship between captures and environmental variables but with the effort applied in extractive activities. As a result from the obtained and analyzed information, it can be said that despite the strong pressure over fishing, the “hairy crab” population could stand by itself the rhythm of fishery during the study period. Moreover, to be more conclusive, is important and necessary to make effective more researches which allow us to establish the optimal capture and effort levels for a sustainable activity.<br>Tesis

The Late Triassic Callide Coal Measures are preserved in a small (22.5 by 8 km), shallow, partly fault-bounded basin remnant (the Callide Basin) near the town of Biloela in east-central Queensland. The largely undeformed basin-fill unconformably overlies a variety of Palaeozoic rocks which were strongly folded and thrusted during the Hunter-Bowen Orogeny. The Callide seam Member is the thickest and most economic of four seam members within the coal measure sequence. The coal is characteristically sub-bituminous and is dull, sub-hydrous, and sold unwashed. Its most striking feature is a high mineral matter content and significant concentrations of iron minerals exist, comprising up to 8% of the coal, or 50% of the coal ash. Thin layers of elastic rocks (up to 0.4m in thickness) which are interbedded with the coal or are immediately underlying coal seams, can contain up to 56% iron minerals (76% in ash). The spatial variability of the iron.minerals is high, which impacts upon coal quality parameters during coal utilisation. Of particular concern is the variable and unpredicted performance of the coal during combustion. Although high iron in ash generally relates to deleterious slagging behaviour during combustion, other factors also impact upon performance.
Previous studies by several workers have focussed on the coal product and end-use problems with less than successful results. This study differs by seeking to determine geological and geochemical controls on the distribution of high iron zones in Callide coals and the effect of mineral composition on coal combustion. The study is interdisciplinary, and investigates iron distribution and mineralogy at progressively smaller scales, starting at the basin-wide level and progressing through to coal deposit and then to individual seam distributions.
At the basin-wide level, modelling of total iron within the Callide seam Member has shown that iron concentrations are higher along the western margin of the basin, where the entire sequence is thicker. Furthermore, iron mineralisation also seems to be highest on either flank of the synclinal axis of the basin, which trends north-west, parallel to the regional structural grain.
At the deposit level, iron distributions are not so easily characterised, being manifest as a complex mosaic of narrow, elongated zones containing between 20-50% iron in coal ash surrounded by more subdued zones of moderate iron mineral concentrations, whose location varies for each seam. Some of the iron mineralisation is clearly discordant to bedding attitudes. Vertical variability in iron content within a profile also is not consistent across the basin, but iron minerals habitate generally at the base of seams, in soft, moist, "sooty" fusainous layers, in intra-seam claystone partings or "hardpan", and near structural discontinuities.
The application of detailed coal characterisation techniques has determined that upwards of 90% of the iron minerals in the Callide seam Memter are siderite, goethite and pyrite. The remainder are primary iron oxides, such as haematite, and trace amounts of hydrated iron sulphates. Some of the iron oxides are weakly magnetic. There are at least two phases of siderite present, one as spherules or nodules that apparently formed at low temperatures and shallow depths, early in coal diagenesis, from meteoric waters in a formative peat swamp. Both siderites are very pure, with negligible substitution of Mn, Mg and Ca cations into the lattice. The other occurs as cleat and/or vein infillings formed after coalification. Possibly a third phase, with similar morphology, has formed from recent oxidation. These latter two siderites, except at Boundary Hill Mine, form only a small percentage of the total siderite present.
The vertical variability measured generally corresponds to the scale of bounding surfaces in dulling upward coal cycles. These surfaces, which may relate to flooding events, could have provided an environment for primary siderite formation, or provided discontinuities, and/or porous conduits for secondary fluid migration and iron mineralisation. Nonetheless, the fundamental control on the high and variable iron distribution along the western margin of the basin appears to be structural (ie. related to jointing, faulting and igneous intrusions).
Stable carbon and oxygen isotope analyses combined with petrographic evidence suggests that the siderite and its host peat show characteristics consistent with repeated in-situ oxidation. Such indicators include lack of calcite, a subdued pyrite presence, high inertinite,(and particularly micrinite) contents, and weathering of the siderite to goethite. Sufficient similarities exist to characterise the Callide seam Member as a very low-grade fossil bog iron ore deposit.
In the second half of this study, the influence that high iron mineral concentrations have upon the physical, geochemical, and geophysical properties of the coal are examined. Apart from affecting the visual appearance of the coal, the high and variable mineral matter contents affect interpretation of certain downhole geophysical logs. Furthermore, the calculation of the apparent relative density, volatile, and mineral matter of the coal is affected, and subsequently impacts upon the correct classification of the coal. High concentrations of iron minerals in the coal increases the coals' carbon char reactivity, but impinges upon combustion behaviour.
It is within this framework that the interaction of these iron minerals with other minerals in the coal was further investigated to explain the variable performance of the coal upon combustion. Identification of coal attributes causing adverse boiler slagging, ahead of mining, was most successful when the author modelled ratios of the most significant minerals present: kaolinite, siderite, and quartz.

Dentro del palimpsesto que son Lima y el Callao como arquitectura, los ciudadanos
acotan cada vez más la forma en la que deben ser conservados y protegidos los
edificios patrimoniales. En cuanto al caso de los edificios prehispánicos, coloniales
y republicanos las medidas cada vez son más claras, pero existen una cantidad no
menor de edificios del movimiento moderno del Perú que hoy en día están
sumamente deteriorados, abandonados y en algunos casos desvinculados de su
contexto urbano. Este es el caso del Mercado Central del Callao, edificio construido
por uno de los primeros arquitectos de la UNI. El presente proyecto de fin de
carrera busca cuestionarse el cómo podemos intervenir y transformar ese
patrimonio arquitectónico no reconocido de manera que corresponda a las
dinámicas urbanas y sociales contemporáneas, y para ello tendrá entonces que
investigar cómo es que funcionan dichas dinámicas, entender cómo funciona la
ciudad y como han evolucionado los usos tan marcados y definitorios que se
traducían a edificaciones construidas. En el movimiento moderno la preocupación
de los arquitectos por crear hitos en la urbe los llevo a desarrollar sistemas formales
que hoy consideramos bellos, pero que definían estrictamente la manera de actuar
y vivir(los). Debido a ello, el cambio en la manera de vivir, y en el caso específico
del Mercado Central del Callao, de comprar y vender, ha vuelto al edificio un
remanente obsoleto, en tanto se pensaba que la única forma de entender el
espacio de compraventa era a través de puestos fijos agrupados en un inmueble.
La recuperación de este edificio vendrá estrictamente de la mano con la
recuperación del concepto urbano por el cual fue construido: El mercado es
finalmente un espacio público.

Every local church, although part of a greater denomination, finds itself in a unique
context with unique ministerial needs. It is of the utmost importance for every local
church to be contextual in its ministry, to eventually being effective in its ministry. To
make this possible a Scriptural view of the interplay between the unity of the church,
the diversity of the church and the fulfilment of the calling of the church, currently
not existing, is a key factor. The primary goal of this research is to provide
guidelines to churches to assure the contextualization of their calling and ministerial
strategy. This is done by motivating the necessity thereof, and by providing
Scriptural principles for the interplay between the unity of the church, the diversity of
the church and the fulfilment of the calling of the church. The research is done
according to the practical-theological methodology of Gerben Heitink (1 999). • The first part of the study consists of a hermeneutical process giving perspective on the current state of affairs in ministerial theory and practice, as well as providing Scriptural principles. Chapter 2 of the hermeneutical investigation wants to determine in what manner the interplay between the unity of the church, the diversity of the church and the fulfilment of the calling of the church is currently being recognized when a local church determines their specific calling and ministerial strategy. Furthermore a brief overview is given regarding the state of affairs in South Africa which has an effect on the climate in which ministry has to take place. This ensures the contextualization of the study. In Chapter 3 Scriptural principles are developed regarding the interplay between the unity of the church, the diversity of the church and the fulfilment of the calling of the church. In Chapter 2 a description is made of the situation that has to change and in Chapter 3 the principles are developed by which the change has to take place. The research in Chapter 3 focuses on the periscope of Acts 21:17-26 and related periscopes. • The second part of the study comprises of an empirical investigation of Afrikaans speaking reformed church members in Eastern Pretoria to determine how they view the interplay between the unity of the church, the diversity of the church and the fulfilment of the calling of the church. • The third part comprises the strategic perspective that integrates the research results of Chapters 2, 3, and 4 to develop a theory of practice. This practical theory provides guidelines to local churches to help them determine their specific calling and ministerial strategy in the light of the interplay between the unity of the church, the diversity of the church and the fulfilment of the calling of the church.
The result of this study shows that the interplay between the unity of the church, the diversity of the church and the fulfilment of the calling of the church is a key factor in determining the specific calling and ministerial strategy of a local church to ensure their obedience to Gods calling. Beacons were developed in the light of the Scriptural interplay and presented as guidelines for the local church. El contexto donde nos encontramos inmersos, la globalización de los mercados es una realidad, así como las fronteras nacionales resultan ser imaginarias. Esta situación del comercio mundial, en la cual las trabas se están derrumbando, en que el numero de mercados para producir a costos mas bajos ha aumentado y en donde el aumento de la competencia es cada vez mas fuerte; esta llevando a que las empresas e instituciones, se modernicen.
Por otra parte, la liberalización gradual de los intercambios comerciales ha resultado ser una manera eficiente de abrir los mercados. Sin embargo, un mercado abierto solamente puede funcionar de manera eficiente, en la medida en que exista un marco claro de principios y obligaciones que disciplinen la facilitación de los flujos comerciales y que permitan a todas nuestras empresas, participar en la economía global.
Por estas razones, se asigna una gran importancia al tema de la facilitación del comercio en el marco de las negociaciones bilaterales, multilaterales, regionales y en el contexto de las actuales negociaciones de tratados de libre comercio. La simplificación y la armonización de los procedimientos que rigen el comercio son elementos que coadyuvan, sin duda alguna, a facilitar los flujos comerciales entre los países y de manera paralela contribuyen, en el marco de sus relaciones, ha lograr la eliminación paulatina de las trabas al comercio de mercancías y de servicios.
Es lógico pensar, que un mundo cada vez más abierto al comercio internacional, se haya producido un aumento exponencial de los flujos del comercio y de servicios. Esos niveles y volúmenes de comercio mundial hace 50 años eran impensables, por ello nunca antes se habían desarrollado disciplinas específicas para facilitar el comercio. Ahora, por el contrario la interdependencia económica de los países y en consecuencia de las empresas ha contribuido positivamente al incremento de los flujos comerciales a nivel bilateral, multilateral y regional, lo cual ineludiblemente conlleva a un natural incremento de los problemas, obstáculos y trabas al comercio.
Es muy difícil listar taxativamente los temas que podrían ser cubiertos por este tipo de mecanismo, sin embargo, se habla principalmente de las operaciones de importación y exportación, del transporte de las mercancías, indistintamente de la modalidad de transporte de la que estemos hablando, del financiamiento de la transacción comercial, de los medios de pago, de los términos de pago, del comercio electrónico, de la aplicación o cumplimiento de derechos de propiedad intelectual, de la transmisión electrónica de información, del tránsito de mercancías, etc. Probablemente, hay muchos temas más que podrían estar dentro del ámbito de la facilitación comercial.<br>Tesis

brechas que existen en la facilidad para hacer negocios en la Ciudad de Callao, contrastando
la regulación vigente de las instituciones públicas con la realidad experimentada por los
empresarios, abogados, ingenieros, gerentes generales, notarios y profesionales entendidos en
la materia. Las variables más importantes consideradas para el presente estudio son el costo y
el tiempo invertidos por las empresas durante el proceso de implementación del negocio, los
cuales suelen promover o desalentar el emprendimiento en una ciudad.
Se utilizó la metodología del Doing Business, desarrollada por el Banco Mundial,
para lo cual se llevaron a cabo entrevistas a profundidad tanto a los funcionarios de las
entidades públicas como a los profesionales involucrados y expertos en el proceso de
implementación y operación de las empresas; dichos cuestionarios fueron elaborados y
clasificados en cinco pilares pre-seleccionados: (a) apertura de empresa, (b) manejo de
permisos de construcción, (c) obtención de electricidad, (d) registro de propiedad y (e)
cumplimiento de contratos; estos permitieron realizar el análisis y comparación de los
resultados tanto para medir la distancia a la frontera con las ciudades de otros países, como la
medición del ranking en la facilidad para hacer negocios en la Ciudad del Callao.
Por tanto, el estudio del Doing Business para la Ciudad del Callao provee a la
comunidad académica y profesional, pública y privada, una herramienta que mide de manera
objetiva la normativa legal que regula la facilidad para iniciar y operar un negocio. Estos
mismos resultados sirven a su vez para generar competencia entre los países estudiados,
porque sus funcionarios, con capacidad de legislar y administrar los recursos públicos, buscan
realizar cambios con el objetivo de atraer a la inversión privada para que generen un mayor
desarrollo económico y social en sus ciudades.
Finalmente, luego de los análisis y las conclusiones respectivas, se brindaron las
recomendaciones adecuadas con el objetivo de aportar alternativas que favorezcan a reducir
las brechas encontradas con las regulaciones actuales, así como también eliminar los
obstáculos que no permiten colocar a la Ciudad del Callao en una mejor posición en el
indicador de distancia a la frontera<br>The purpose of this study is to determine quantitatively the exits gaps in the facility to
make business in Callao City, between the current regulation and the reality in that city. The
most important variables considered for the present study are the cost and the time invested
by the companies during the process of implementation a new business; which often promote
or discourage entrepreneurship in a city.
We used the Doing Business methodology, developed by the World Bank. For this
investigation we interviewed public officials, professionals and experts involved in the
process of starting and operating new business; for this investigation we use questionnaires
prepared by the Doing Business methodology classified in five pre-selected pillars: (a)
business start-up, (b) construction permit management, (c) electricity procurement, (d)
ownership registration, and (e) contract compliance. Whit this information we made the
analysis and comparison of the results to measure the distance to the border with other cities
and the measurement of the ranking in the facility to do business in the city of Callao.
Therefore, the Doing Business study for the city of Callao provides academic and
professional community, and strong tool that objectively measures the legal regulation that
regulates the facility to start and operate a business. These results will allow to generate
competition between the studied countries, in addition allows Mayors and authorities that
manage public resources seek to make changes in order to bring in private investment to
generate greater economic and social development in their countries and Citizens.
Finally, important and forceful recommendations were made with the objective to
provide strong tolls to reduce the gaps with current regulations and the reality, as well as
eliminate obstacles that do not allow the city of Callao to be placed in a better position in the

La presente investigación tiene como tema principal la corrupción política y
administrativa al interior de la sede central del Gobierno Regional del Callao
como estudio de caso en el periodo 2014 -2018, en virtud al vacío que ha
evidenciado la Academia sobre prácticas de corrupción en los hechos, ese
vacío se ha producido para nosotros porque todos los estudios se han
efectuado desde una observación externa del fenómeno.
Ante esta dificultad, la investigación fue realizada utilizando la observación
directa participante y con un enfoque de sistemas como metodología, a través
de ella se han descrito las prácticas que se dan al interior de la Sede Central
del Gobierno Regional del Callao, evidenciadas no solo a través de las
observaciones directas realizadas, sino también a través de las entrevistas
realizadas a actores del propio gobierno regional con la finalidad de evidenciar
cómo se articulan en los hechos la corrupción política y administrativa y como
se va capturando al Estado y a la burocracia, a través de estas prácticas se
aprovechan las fallas del propio sistema administrativo, los vacíos legales; así
como los factores políticos, sociales y económicos coadyuvan a que la
corrupción se reinvente penetrando a la burocracia a partir de la injerencia
política.
Los hallazgos más importantes recaen en la captura de la Oficina de
Recursos Humanos y la importancia que ella tiene para el sostenimiento de
prácticas de patronazgos y clientela; se muestra como a partir de la llegada al
poder de un seudo partido político hegemónico se ha dado el copamiento del
espectro político, se muestra el nacimiento del nuevo patrimonialismo público
en el Perú, el mismo que ha logrado subordinar al poder político a partir de lo
económico; hecho que ha generado una nueva forma de hacer política, ya
que las evidencias nos muestran que otros Gobierno Regionales comparten
las mismas debilidades institucionales y muchas de las practicas
evidenciadas<br>The main topic of this thesis is the political and administrative corruption within
the Regional Government of Callao as a case study during the period 2014-
2018. The thesis is written as a response to the existing legal loopholes shown
by the research community in relation to corruption practices. That legal
vacuum has been produced due to the outward-looking approach of most of
the research done on the topic.
To face this problem, this research has been done using direct participant
observation and a systems approach methodology. Through these
methodologies, practices identified within the Regional Government of Callao’s
Headquarters have been described. They were identified not only using direct
observation, but also interviewing the participants in the regional government
itself. This was done to illustrate how the political and administrative corruption
are both articulated and the way in which the nation-state and the bureaucracy
are manifested. These corruption practices take advantage of the weakness of
the administrative system itself and the legal loopholes. Equally, the political,
social, and economic factors help the corruption to re-invent’ itself utilizing
bureaucracy through political interference.
The main findings are the capture of the Office of Human Resources and the
importance it has for the practice of patronage and clientelism. It is shown how
the political spectrum has been invaded as a consequence of the arrival of a
pseudo hegemonic political party as well as the birth of the newest public
patrimonialism in Peru. The latter has subordinated the political power due to
financial incentives. This fact has led to the birth of a new way to play politics
as it shows that other Regional Governments share the same institutional

L’étude des cinq mises en scène de Luchino Visconti et des jeux de correspondances établis par le metteur en scène, points de départ de notre réflexion, ouvre des axes permettant de saisir la réception contemporaine et d’appréhender l’efficacité d’hier. With her, the dramatic essence of the operatic genre sprang forth anew on the stage : the acting body combined with the singing body, ‘seeing’ combined with ‘hearing’. The study of Luchino Visconti’s five operatic productions and of the correspondence effects he contrived as a director – the starting points of our analysis – opens up new paths which enable us to comprehend both today’s reception and yesterday’s efficacy. From a genealogy of public idols and acting techniques to the problematics of the Ut Pictura Theatrum, analogical confrontations with various references from the performing arts, the fine arts and the cinema, reveal prospects for analysis and bring to light fundamental aesthetic notions. Sin embargo, entendiendo el arraigo característico de la población del Callao, el proyecto plantea conservar el perímetro existente del actual mercado, el cual cuenta con un evidente valor monumental, repotenciando su importancia con nuevos usos propios del entendimiento de los usuarios de la zona. Complementario a esto se plantea un diseño arquitectónico totalmente nuevo el interior del mercado, el cual se adapta al perímetro existente tanto a nivel formal y espacial, así como con una propuesta funcional que incluye usos comerciales, gastronómicos y recreativos.<br>The project of the New Central Market of Callao was born due to the need to improve the infrastructure dedicated to this typology in the heart of the “chalaco” district. In order to achieve this intention, the actual location of the Central Market was intervened. The main problem was that its antiquity reflected itself with a discontinued functionality. However, through a understanding of the characteristic roots of the population of Callao, the project aims to preserve the existing perimeter of the actual market, which has a evident monumental value, repowering its relevance with new uses adapted for the population of the area. Complementary to this action, a completely new architectural design at the interior of the market rises. This space approach adapts to the existing perimeter in a formal level, but in a functional level as well. Finally, the architectural program includes commercial, gastronomic and recreational uses.

El acompañamiento pedagógico es una estrategia formativa en la que se asesora
personalmente al docente, según sus necesidades técnico-pedagógicas, en su propio
ámbito de trabajo; es decir, en sus propias aulas. Esta estrategia surge como una
propuesta de mejora para la educación peruana, a raíz de que uno de los factores de
los bajos niveles de educación que ponen al Perú en el penúltimo lugar a nivel
internacional, es la baja formación y capacitación de los docentes.
Esta estrategia ha venido siendo implementada en proyectos ejecutados por las ONGs
y la Cooperación Internacional en ámbitos rurales, como PROMEB y AprenDes
donde se han logrado buenos resultados. Es en base a ello, que el Programa
Estratégico Logros de Aprendizaje al finalizar el III ciclo de Educación Básica
Regular (PELA) del Ministerio de Educación, que se caracteriza por ser un programa
basado en un enfoque de Presupuesto por Resultados, es decir, basar su
implementación y evaluación en función a indicadores; incluye y prioriza el
acompañamiento pedagógico.
Para implementar el acompañamiento pedagógico es fundamental que se tome en
cuenta ciertos componentes y estrategias básicas que los diferentes investigadores
proponen. En el caso de los componentes, que son instrumentos y procedimientos que
brindan soporte a las estrategias básicas, se debe considerar: (i) la focalización de la
intervención, (ii) sensibilización, concertación e información a la comunidad y a los
diversos actores, (iii) definición del perfil de los acompañantes, (iv) elaboración de la
línea de base, (v) constitución de las redes escolares, (vi) programación de asistencia itinerante a las escuelas, (vii) programa de formación para acompañantes, (vii)
desarrollo de las caja de herramientas, (ix) establecimiento de Centro de Recursos, y
(x) seguimiento y monitoreo. En cuanto a las estrategias básicas y pedagógicas del
acompañamiento se debe tener en cuenta: (i) visitas y asistencia directa, (ii)
microtalleres y círculos de inter-aprendizaje, (iii) talleres de actualización a docente y
(iv) pasantías.
Muchos de estos componentes y estrategias propuestas son considerados en los
lineamientos y las orientaciones que el Ministerio de Educación proporciona a las
instancias regionales, que son las encargadas y responsables de la gestión del
acompañamiento en el programa.
En el caso de la región Callao, que es motivo de estudio en esta investigación, la
gestión está a cargo del Equipo Técnico Regional (ETR), instancia que se encuentra
en la Dirección Regional de Educación (DRE), y del Equipo Técnico Local (ETL) que
pertenece a la Unidad de Gestión Educativa Local (UGEL) de Ventanilla; ambos
deben asegurar una correcta y eficiente ejecución de los procesos del
acompañamiento pedagógico.
Asimismo, en investigaciones previas se ha señalado que la implementación y la
ejecución del acompañamiento pedagógico en el PELA puede ser entendido mediante
cinco procesos: (i) la preparación previa a la implementación; (ii) el inicio de la
implementación y el inicio de las visitas; (iii) el desarrollo de la estrategia, (iv) las
condiciones básicas para asegurar su desarrollo; y, (v) monitoreo y gestión de la información; cada uno de estos procesos está conformado por los diversos
componente, estrategias, lineamiento y orientaciones mencionadas anteriormente.
Sobre esta base, el objetivo de esta investigación es analizar y contribuir a la mejora
de la implementación y ejecución del acompañamiento pedagógico en la región
Callao, especialmente en la UGEL de Ventanilla; para ello, se decidió enfocar la
investigación en uno de estos procesos: “Condiciones básicas para asegurar su
desarrollo”. Así entre los hallazgos obtenidos se ha podido identificar que tanto la
DRE como la UGEL otorgan a los acompañantes pedagógicos espacios adecuados de
asesorías y capacitaciones como medio de formación y apoyo a sus labores.
Asimismo, las coordinaciones entre la UGEL con actores como las ONG´s y el
Municipio contribuyen a un fortalecimiento de la ejecución de dicha finalidad, por lo
que seguir construyendo estas alianzas resulta fundamental.
Haciendo referencia a otros factores se ha podido encontrado que, en cuanto a la
coordinación del área de Gestión Pedagógica con el área de Gestión Administrativa
de la UGEL de Ventanilla existen problemas para la entrega de materiales y el
presupuesto correspondiente para la realización de labores para el acompañamiento.
Asimismo, los acompañantes de Ventanilla no cuentan con un espacio adecuado con
los implementos e insumos necesarios para que ejerzan una labor eficiente.
No obstante, los acompañantes sienten una sobrecarga administrativa, sobre todo para
solicitar materiales y pedir prestado ambientes de las instituciones educativas donde
puedan ejecutar sus microtalleres. Además en cuanto a las coordinaciones, el ETR y
el ETL presentan ciertos problemas de comunicación por lo que la labor de coordinación entre ellos se dificulta; así también los acompañantes opinan que las
coordinaciones con el ETL, específicamente con administración, no es la más
adecuada.
Entre las recomendaciones propuestas se plantea en primer lugar, realizar una
reunión o un taller de diagnóstico y fortalecimiento de la gestión del
acompañamiento. En este taller se identificarían en primer lugar las fortalezas y
debilidades de cada instancia y de las coordinaciones entre ellas, para luego plantear
las posibles soluciones a dichas dificultades. Asimismo, ETL debería realizar una
reunión con los acompañantes donde se les explique cuáles son los alcances del
programa en cuanto a recursos. Así también se recomienda al ETL solucionar lo
antes posible el tema de un centro de recursos para que los acompañantes puedan
llevar a cabo sus reuniones, cuenten con los materiales pedagógicos necesarios y
puedan ejercer las labores que demande el acompañamiento pedagógico
Finalmente es importante tener en cuenta que el objetivo de las diferentes medidas
que se llevan a cabo en la educación, tienen como finalidad mejorar las capacidades y
lograr competencia en los niños y las niñas, futuros ciudadanos de nuestro país; por lo
que buscar la eficiencia para la implementación de dichas medidas es un gran aporte

El presente trabajo tiene como objetivo principal analizar los factores que permitieron el incremento de la competitividad del Terminal Portuario del Callao después de la concesión a DP World y APM Terminals durante los años 2014 al 2018. Para ello en el Capítulo I se mostrarán los antecedentes de la concesión y los cambios en la legislación aduanera, tratados de promoción comercial, sumado a la teoría sobre competitividad y competitividad portuaria. En el capítulo II se muestra el tipo de investigación a realizarse, el problema identificado, las herramientas e instrumentos de investigación, así como la descripción de los segmentos de estudio y los factores de competitividad a investigar. En el Capítulo III basados en la investigación realizada, se presentará el análisis de la información, mostrando las diversas opiniones de los segmentos entrevistados, y así poder determinar cuáles fueron los factores de competitividad que determinaron el incremento de la competitividad del Terminal Portuario del Callao o en su defecto, conocer por qué no fueron determinantes. En el Capítulo IV se discutirá la información encontrada, la cual es el reflejo de la realidad actual del Terminal Portuario, para luego ser contrastada con la teoría sobre competitividad portuaria. De esa manera poder conocer, dentro del ámbito nacional, si se cumple lo estipulado por los expertos en competitividad.<br>The main objective of this paper is to analyze the Factors that allowed the competitiveness of the Port Terminal of Callao to increase after the concession to DP World and APM Terminals during the year 2014 to 2018. Previous studies suggest children with callous-unemotional (CU) traits have a disorganised attachment, a notion that challenges two developmental frameworks, as the literature on children with CU traits places most of the aetiological burden on the child, whereas the attachment literature places most of this burden on the parent. First, the intergenerational transmission of CU traits was examined in a cross-sectional study with a sample of clinically-referred children. It investigated whether psychopathy in parents conferred risk specific to CU traits over and above general risk factors. Second, two psychometric tools were validated. The Interview on Critical Bonding Moments (ICBM), a retrospective assessment of parents’ state of mind during their child’s early development, and the Child Affective Behaviour (CAB) scale, which assesses children’s proximity-seeking, eye gaze, soothability and expression/reception of affect. Third, the relationships between CU traits and the ICBM and CAB were assessed using a Bayesian machine-learning algorithm to probe whether maternal negative affect during critical bonding experiences, and children’s affective responses, were associated with parental reports of CU traits. Fourth, longitudinal associations between markers from Study 3 and the development of CU traits when children were 4 were analysed using a sample of mother-child dyads assessed over a four-year period. Prior results were replicated, and the analysis found novel associations suggesting children’s dispositional characteristics are the main predictors of CU emergence. Child-driven effects were supported – consistent with the CU literature – as studies found strong associations between children’s affective behaviours and CU emergence. Assessments guided by an attachment framework accounted for smaller but significant effects, linking the perinatal period to the emergence of CU traits through associations with maternal fright during pregnancy and disinterest while feeding.

In his geneva studies, he was to influenced by the philosophy of the enlightenment. From his university studies in germany he kept the romantic idea of the state taught by his master shelling in munich in berlin he was introduced to german historicism by the teaching of l. Ranke and to the history of law by savigny. In 1837 he obtained his doctorate from heidelberg university. From his arrival in greece in 1837, he led three parallel careers : - first as lawyer, as a law professor and barrister. He also drafted the common law and constitution of 1864. Research into offending behaviour has, in recent years, turned to investigating the pathways that may lead a person to offend. One of the major developments in this area is the recognition that the presence of high levels of callous-unemotional traits may delineate a particular subgroup of children that are at particular risk of becoming career offenders. The present study examined the relationships between children’s levels of callous-unemotional traits and a number of parental variables. 125 children (at initial assessment) from low decile schools and their caregivers took part in this study. The results indicated that several aspects of parenting (frequency and consistency of discipline, monitoring/supervision, involvement with children, positive parenting, and parental empathy) showed associations with callous-unemotional traits. These results both supported existing literature in this area, and highlighted important areas that need to be considered when planning and implementing interventions for antisocial youth.

<p> Twenty five percent of individuals diagnosed with autism are nonverbal and need to learn to communicate using alternative means (National Research Council, 2001) in order to build functional spontaneous communication. Joint attention behaviors are critical for communication development (Mundy & Newell, 2007). This study introduces a video calling intervention to target the joint attention behaviors, eye gaze, verbalization and gestures. The purpose of this study was to discover what relationship exists between video calling and joint attention in nonverbal children with autism and to explore the perspectives of parents and their communication interaction with the child. This case study of two children is a quantitative ABA withdrawal design and a qualitative narrative design. The ABA design uses seven-inch Prestige 7 Connect tablets and Skype, video calling software program to communicate during game, reading and discussion activities. Observing and recording procedures were used to collect the data and visual analysis was conducted using graphs, tables. The narrative design used parent interviews and questionnaires to build themes. The findings indicate that video calling had a positive impact on eye gaze and verbalization behaviors during discussion and game activities. From the narrative analysis emerged a theme of engagement and focus. The conclusions indicate that video calling has impact on some joint attention behaviors and increases engagement in nonverbal children with autism. Implications for this study include using video calling in the classroom for peer interactions and skill building. Although largely ignored by Western historians, Japanese overseas radio propaganda during World War Two was sophisticated and wide-ranging. Regular overseas radio broadcasting began in Japan in 1935, after several European powers had already begun such services. Following the Japanese occupation of Manchuria in 1931, research into short-wave radio broadcasting was expanded, and after Japan left the League of Nations in 1933, overseas radio was considered essential to present the Japanese government's views abroad. Radio Tokyo broadcasts began in Japanese and English and were initially directed at the United States. Other languages were soon added and the range of broadcasts extended to Europe, South America and the Pacific region. At its height in 1944, Radio Tokyo broadcast to fifteen transmission regions in thirty-three languages. In addition, Japanese-controlled short-wave stations broadcast from fifteen Asian cities under Japanese occupation Themes used in broadcasts varied according to the war situation and the target country. However, certain common themes were used in broadcasts throughout the war, and to most regions. The Japanese analysis of the war situation often formed the central element of news broadcasts, and reconstruction in occupied regions under Japanese administration was frequently emphasised to indicate the benevolence of Japanese rule. Within Asia, independence from colonial rule was advocated, whilst in broadcasts to the enemy the strength of Japanese combat forces was emphasised. Entertainment programmes were developed gradually from 1935. Most such broadcasts were based on Japanese domestic broadcasts and consisted of serious talks, news and some classical music. It was recognised that this was not the format of popular Western broadcasts and several attempts were made to lighten the output of Radio Tokyo. It was allowed to play jazz music, which was banned within Japan, but it was only by using prisoners-of-war in the production of programmes that the Japanese created truly ''Western-style'' broadcasts. This thesis traces the development of Japanese overseas broadcasting from the first experimental broadcasts to the closure of Radio Tokyo by the American occupation forces in 1945. It also analyses the common themes of radio broadcasts in the China Incident and Pacific War and to assess how successful they were as propaganda. The thesis concludes that Japanese overseas radio propaganda was both sophisticated and flexible in its approaches. It showed little resemblance to the propaganda of Nazi Germany, but more to the propaganda of the wartime B.B.C. Many of its broadcasts contained a high degree of "truth," albeit "selective truth," favourable to Japan. The exception was the propaganda issued by the Army and Navy Ministries, which showed little of the sophistication of regular broadcast material.

The aim of this thesis is to break new ground by investigating the interactional organisation of real events that comprise live business-to-business cold calls. Despite being a ubiquitous part of everyday life, we know very little about how cold calls are initiated, progressed, and completed. Cold calls are unsolicited telephone encounters, initiated by salespeople aiming to get prospective clients ( prospects ) interested in their services, with the distal goal of turning them into clients and the proximal goal of getting them to agree to an initial meeting. Cold calls are often treated as a nuisance by call-takers, and salespeople must deal with reluctant gatekeepers, recurrent sales resistance, and the occasional hang-up. The training they receive often draws on outdated theories of communication and is rarely supported by empirical evidence. Thus, this study not only addresses an important domain for interactional research, but also fulfils a practical necessity for empirical research that will inform sales training and improve callers and call-takers experiences. The data comprise 150 recorded calls supplied by three British companies that sell, service, and lease office equipment. The data were collected, transcribed, and analysed within an ethnomethodological framework using conversation analysis and discursive psychology. The first analytic chapter outlines the overall structural organisation of cold calling. It documents the constituent activities within the opening, the business of the call, and the closing. It identifies and describes two types of cold calls. Freezing calls are initiated by salespeople who are contacting a prospect for the very first time. Lukewarm calls feature salespeople who claim to have been in contact with the prospect s organisation in the past. The second chapter excavates the initial turns of lukewarm calls in which salespeople ask to speak to another person within the company, with whom they indicate to be acquainted. The analysis revealed that this third-party acquaintanceship was crucial for establishing the legitimacy of the switchboard request and for improving the chances of getting it granted. The third chapter focused on appointment-making sequences in both freezing and lukewarm calls, showing that they comprise two components: a preamble and a meeting request sequence. I also highlight how salespeople exploit sequential and turn-taking mechanisms to secure meetings with prospects without giving the latter the opportunity to refuse. The final chapter examines two practices for enacting resistance in cold calls blocks and stalls and documents the range of methods salespeople employ for dealing with each type of resistance. Sales blocks expose the salesperson s commercial agenda, attempt to stop the prospecting activity, and move towards call pre-closure. In response, salespeople can challenge, counter, or circumvent blocks as well as redo their initiating actions. Stalls slow down the progress of the sales process by delaying the next phase of the sale or by proposing less commitment-implicative alternatives. Salespeople deal with stalls by either justifying their initial proposal or by spontaneously introducing new action plans, both being more conducive to the progress of the sale. The thesis contributes to a growing body of interactional research on commercial encounters by shedding empirical light on a previously unexamined setting, business-to-business cold calls. It also moves forward discursive psychology s project of respecifying psychological phenomena by documenting the communicative practices associated with persuasion and resistance. Finally, it expands the extant conversation analytic toolkit by examining new practices (such as appointment-making) and by providing new insights into key conversation analytic topics (such as requests, pre-sequences, and accounts for calling). Overall, the findings presented in this thesis challenge existing conceptions of prospecting through cold calling that are prevalent in the sales literature. The thesis puts forward a strong argument for opening the black box of cold calls to better understand these interactions and to identify good practices as the basis for communication training. Research presented in this thesis has already been used in the development of CARM (Conversation Analytic Role-play Method) training for salespeople, who reported having doubled their appointment rates. Based on the findings in this thesis, I plan to develop further training not only for salespeople but also for prospective customers, thus improving the overall outcome of cold call encounters.

Cowpea, Vigna unguiculata (L.) Walp is an excellent source of protein, vitamins and minerals and a major food crop many parts of Africa. Optimal production levels are hampered by insect pests and diseases. Biotechnological techniques such as tissue culture and genetic engineering can aid in the development of varieties with resistance to insect pests and diseases. The objective of this study was to investigate conditions necessary for the development of a reproducible tissue culture system that can be applied to regenerate transformed cells from culture. The in vitro manipulation of cowpea using Murashige and Skoog (MS) medium, auxins and cytokinins resulted in the formation of callus and rhizogenesis. Calli that were formed were separated into six classes based on color and texture. Yellowish friable callus, yellowish compact, soft yellowish callus and green and white were composed of largely vacuolated cells and were non-regenerative. Friable green callus was the most prevalent callus type and could form of roots in some hormone combinations. Green spots were formed on hard compact green callus. The green spots became nodular, forming root primordia and ultimately giving rise to roots. None of the six calli types gave rise to the formation of shoots. Embryogenic callus was induced from cowpea explants cultured on MS medium supplemented with dicamba and picloram. Embryogenic suspension cultures were initiated from callus induced on MS supplemented with 3.0 mg/L dicamba or picloram and conditions for maintenance of embryogenic suspension cultures were evaluated. Somatic embryos were formed in suspension cultures. Attempts to convert and germinate the somatic embryos resulted in the formation of callus or formation of appendages on the somatic embryos or in the death of the embryos. The appendages formed roots on prolonged culture. Further research is needed to determine appropriate optimal conditions for embryo conversion and germination and ultimately plant recovery from culture.

Esta investigación académica sobre la mujer peruana en la Región Callao, contiene dos
puntos de análisis. El primero considera el periodo que va desde el año 1990 al 2010, basado
en información histórica sobre las variables más importantes que aportan al estudio y
conocimiento de la realidad de la mujer de esta región. El segundo punto de análisis se enfoca
en la descripción y planteamiento de las principales expectativas y obstáculos que se
percibieron para el desarrollo futuro de la población femenina al año 2020, soportado en
información obtenida mediante el método de entrevistas a profundidad.
El diseño de la investigación tiene un propósito descriptivo y usa el enfoque cualitativo
para describir y analizar las expectativas y obstáculos personales, económicos, familiares y
laborales de la mujer de la Región Callao; la estrategia usada emplea el método de casos
múltiples bajo un enfoque holístico. Se ha utilizado las técnicas de bola de nieve y máxima
variación para lograr que los casos de las mujeres entrevistadas de la Región Callao, permitan
obtener la mayor información y a su vez abarquen la mayor cantidad de situaciones.
Las expectativas que mostraron las mujeres de la Región Callao se enfocaron en lograr
un mejor nivel de educación, contar con una vivienda propia, acceder a un mejor servicio de
salud, realizar actividades de recreación y establecer lazos de amistad. En cuanto a los
obstáculos, estos se relacionaron con el acceso y tipo de educación recibida, salud, cambio de
residencia, discriminación y exposición a situaciones de violencia familiar.
Finalmente se plantean recomendaciones a las instituciones públicas y privadas de la
región para alcanzar las expectativas y superar los obstáculos hallados en beneficio de la
mujer de la Región Callao.<br>This academic research of women in the Callao Region, contains two points of analysis.
The first analysis considers the period ranging from 1990 to 2010 based on historical
information on the most important variables that contribute to the study and understanding of
the reality of women in this region. The second point of analysis focuses on the description
and statement of the main expectations and perceived obstacles to the future development of
the female population by 2020, supported by information obtained by the method of in-depth
interviews.
The research design is purposeful and uses descriptive qualitative approach to describe
and analyze the expectations and personal obstacles, economic, family and work of women in
the Callao Region, the strategy used employs the method of multiple cases in a holistic
perspective. We used the snowball techniques and maximum variation to ensure that cases of
women interviewed Callao Region, to obtain the fullest information and in turn cover as many
situations
Expectations that showed women of Callao Region is focused on achieving a higher
level of education, homeownership have, access to better health services, recreational
activities and establish friendships. As for obstacles, these were related to access and type of
education, health, relocation, discrimination and exposure to family violence situations.
Finally, recommendations are made to public and private institutions in the region to
meet expectations and overcome obstacles found in favor of women of the Callao Region.<br>Tesis

El presente trabajo tiene el objetivo de determinar la manera en que se eligen los proyectos de inversión pública mediante la metodología del presupuesto participativo y su alineación con las políticas públicas, conforme a los planes de desarrollo concertados y plantear una metodología para facilitar que los proyectos de inversión se alineen a las políticas públicas y sirva como referente de aplicación a otros Gobiernos regionales y locales. Para el desarrollo del trabajo se ha utilizado el método de investigación cualitativa. El método de investigación responde al objetivo del trabajo donde se analizan los proyectos aprobados a través del presupuesto participativo y si la inversión efectuada responde al cierre de brechas de infraestructura y de acceso a los servicios públicos para la población. Se plantea una metodología para facilitar la alineación de los proyectos de inversión con las políticas públicas conforme a las directivas del CEPLAN, la participación de la población para la priorización de los proyectos identificados en el plan de desarrollo concertado, mejorar la participación de la población en el seguimiento y control de la calidad del gasto, mejorar el control ciudadano de la calidad de la obra o servicio y que la inversión ejecutada sea en función de resultados y cierre de brechas en infraestructura y servicios. Los resultados obtenidos en el presente trabajo nos han permitido responder a las preguntas de investigación, identificar los problemas en la priorización de proyectos y asignación presupuestal, y cumplir con el objetivo de la investigación.

Este proyecto propone la integración de Design Thinking como herramienta básica en el diseño de espacios públicos, especialmente en las calles, cuyo uso es más extendido y, a la vez, más limitado. De este modo, se obtendrá una comunidad
involucrada en el desarrollo de una ciudad humana, que será más atractiva para
sus ciudadanos y les proporcionará una mejor calidad de vida. El fin de esta investigación es la de recuperar el valor de las calles como destinos sociales y reconocerlas como el espacio público principal. Además, se incide en la importancia de los espacios públicos en la calidad de vida de las personas, pues su infraestructura influye directamente en el comportamiento y bienestar de los peatones. Con la aplicación de Design Thinking en el caso de estudio, se plantea el
rediseño de la calle principal de Moquegua centrándose en las necesidades de los
usuarios para determinar los problemas a solucionar. De esta forma se garantiza
que el diseño sea aceptado por la comunidad y tenga éxito en su implementación,
pues el lugar diseñado aumentará considerablemente su afluencia debido a su
popularidad. El estudio se basa en la empatía con los ciudadanos para determinar sus preferencias y necesidades reales. Este proceso de inmersión abarcó diversos
métodos de observación e interacción con los usuarios de la calle Moquegua y
permitió determinar el problema en el espacio. A partir de esto, de manera
colaborativa con los ciudadanos, se diseñaron prototipos de solución, los cuales
fueron posteriormente evaluados y mejorados. Esto dio como resultado final del
proyecto la propuesta de peatonalización de la calle, una medida que busca el
bienestar de los habitantes de la ciudad. Finalmente, esta investigación evidencia el rol esencial de las calles como espacios públicos en la evolución de las ciudades, así como la importancia de que estos espacios sean diseñados en función a las personas y se mantengan en constante adaptación a sus necesidades.<br>Tesis

Plantar calluses are common skin lesions which often require professional treatment by podiatrists. They commonly present under prominent areas such as the metatarsal heads and can cause significant discomfort during ambulation. Furthermore, they are one of the known risk factors for ulceration in individuals with systemic conditions such as diabetes mellitus. Anecdotal evidence suggests that mechanical factors contribute to calluses and there are numerous studies linking callus to increased peak plantar pressure. However, whether callus is a result of increased pressure or vice versa remains unclear. Skin on other areas of the body has been shown to respond to external loading forces, but no research has specifically investigated the relationship between callus and pressure. A critical review of the literature explored the methods used for skin profiling through biophysical skin measurement. Skin hydration, distensibility and topography were revealed to be useful measurement parameters to characterise plantar skin and for this study, three devices were chosen for testing these parameters. However, as these devices have not received much attention for testing plantar callus in previous research, the first study investigated their repeatability on normal and callused plantar skin. These devices were shown to provide adequate measures of skin properties so they were then used in a larger scale study investigating the biophysical characteristics of normal and callused plantar skin. It was found that callused skin was less hydrated, less distensible, and rougher in texture than normal plantar skin. Work was then undertaken to develop a device that could apply loads to plantar skin in a safe manner so that the skin’s response to external loading could be assessed. A subsequent pilot study was conducted to assess whether normal plantar skin in individuals prone to callus would display callus-like skin changes as a result of increased vertical pressure applied by the skin loading device over a minimum period of six weeks. After the skin loading period, no effect could be observed in normal plantar skin properties. The reasons for this are explored in depth. A study was then undertaken in order to assess the effect of plantar pressure reduction in callused skin over a period of 12 weeks. Pressure reduction was achieved by using customised insoles worn by the study participants. No change in callused skin properties was observed and the reasons for this are explored in depth. These studies provide a strong starting point in understanding the link between pressure and callus and provide a foundation for further research.
