Texto completoAssessing Corporate Social Responsability (CSR) implies to investigateempirically the operations implemented and, at the territorial level, to characterizetheir structural impacts beyond the effects initially targeted. Our research carriesout such an assessment for the banana sector in Cameroon. It draws onmethodological tools that Elinor Ostrom has set up by studying commons, thenadjusted to a context of systemic corruption. As a result, we show : how conflictson a key resource use and appropriation (land) have arised in history and areframed by specific sets of rules in use ; to what extent the CSR operations wehave assessed (Fairtrade labels, health and education aid…) result in materialimprovements for workers and neighbouring communities while reducing theircapabilities to face environmental and social issues generated by the banana agroindustry. Then we explain why the way firms’ governements steers structuralchanges in the social group addressed by their CSR operations can qualify for‘neopaternalism’ and ‘managerial governmentality’

Texto completoOur work is a contribution of the parallelization of the Watershed Transform in particular the Watershed cuts which are a notion of watershed introduced in the framework of Edge Weighted Graphs. We have developed a state of art on the sequential watershed algorithms in order to motivate the choice of the algorithm that is the subject of our study, which is the M-border Kernel algorithm. The main objective of this thesis is to parallelize this algorithm in order to reduce its running time. First, we presented a review on the works that have treated the parallelization of the different types of Watershed in order to identify the issues raised by this task and the appropriate solutions to our context. In a second place, we have shown that despite the locality of the basic operation of this algorithm which is the lowering of some edges named the M-border edges; its parallel execution raises a data dependency problem, especially at the M-border edges which have a common non-minimum vertex. In this context, we have proposed three strategies of parallelization of this algorithm that solve this problematic: the first strategy consists of dividing the initial graph into bands called partitions processed in parallel by P processors. The second strategy is to divide the edges of the initial graph alternately into subsets of independent edges. The third strategy consists in examining the vertices instead of the edges of the initial graph while preserving the thinning paradigm on which the sequential algorithm is based. Therefore, the set of non-minima vertices adjacent to the minima ones are processed in parallel. Finally, we studied the parallelization of a segmentation technique based on the M-border kernel algorithm. This technique consists of three main steps which are: regional minima detection, vertices valuation and M-border kernel computation. For this purpose, we began by studying the data dependency of the different stages of this technique and we proposed parallel algorithms for each one of them. In order to evaluate our contributions, we implemented the parallel algorithms proposed in this thesis, on a shared memory multi-core architecture. The results obtained showed a notable gain in terms of execution time. This gain is translated by speedup factors that increase with the number of processors whatever is the resolution of the input images

Texto completoThe effective management of construction projects is essential due to their inherent complexity and substantial financial implications. In this regard, the project planning and control domain plays a vital role in successful project execution, which requires data-driven and knowledge-based decisions to navigate these complexities and ensure successful project outcomes. Despite the presence of various planning and control systems, ineffective planning and control remain major causes of low productivity, budget overruns, and delays in construction projects. Integrating existing planning and control systems can address these issues by aggregating the advantages of each. However, a significant gap exists due to the lack of a multi-level and integrated framework that combines different planning methods and control metrics across various schedule levels, leveraging the strengths of each to offer a more effective solution. Furthermore, there is a deficiency in data-driven and knowledge-based systems that address the specific needs and applications of project teams regarding a planning and control system, proposing optimized multi-level solutions. This study aims to bridge this gap by first developing a multi-level and integrated framework for project planning and control. Subsequently, it develops and implements a data-driven and knowledge-based decision support system (DSS) that leverages a knowledge database built from experts' experiences. This system proposes multi-level and integrated solutions for the planning and control of construction projects, enhancing both theoretical frameworks and practical applications. The developed DSS simplifies the decision-making process by posing straightforward and relevant questions tailored to the project team's requirements, thereby suggesting the most suitable approaches for project planning and control. The developed framework and decision support system were validated by applying them to a renovation case study and receiving positive feedback from experts. Eventually, a detailed methodological guideline was crafted to facilitate the implementation of the DSS-recommended multi-level planning and control system for renovation projects. This guideline offers clear, step-by-step instructions to ensure straightforward adoption and effective integration into project management practices. This versatile tool can be applied across various project types during the preconstruction phase, determining the most effective planning and control strategies based on the functional requirements of the project team

Texto completoThis thesis is centered on leadership assessment through multi-rater evaluation, commonly known as 360 degrees assessment. First, leadership models were presented, and then, we discussed the measurement aspects of leadership, wherein we observed that some tools became full fledged psychometric assessments owning to the growing popularity of their underlying theory. Nevertheless, the concerns over the inherent limitations of self-report measures continued to be a major challenge in leadership assessment. This led to a new assessment approach called 360 degrees in which the characteristics of leaders are assessed by people working with them (subordinates, colleagues, superiors...) and compared with the leaders' self-appraisals. The focal point of this thesis was to study the advantages as well as the limitations of this approach. The study started with examining how well the variables which are supposed to explain the inter-rater variability were actually helpful in understanding the observed variance among observers. Those analysis yielded significant results despite the fact that those variables could explain only a very limited amount of variance. Following these observations, the study switched its focus from inter-group differences to intra-group / inter-rater agreement and disagreement. Finally, the last part of this thesis gets back to methodological and theoretical basics of measurement theory and proposes a psychometric model that would suit the 360 degrees assessments followed by a conceptual framework for the studies using multi-rater techniques
