Resumen
This paper outlines the history of the development of Vietnamese business and Vietnamese businessmen and entrepreneurs community in Poland. This special period of history of development was to be divided into two main phases. In addition, this article has analyzed the factors affecting international entrepreneurship spirit and international entrepreneurship capacity of this Vietnamese business community here in Poland. These factors are well identified in the overview part of international startups and international entrepreneurship study. The study showed that these factors include: foreign market appeal, government policies, compatibility of business practices, and adaptability to foreign markets. In the research part of this article, these factors were taken to be reanalyzed for the Vietnamese business community in Poland and showed why Vietnamese people choose Poland to be a good place for family settlement and for doing long-term business. Moreover, the success factors and success barriers behind their business development compared to the community of Chinese businessmen and entrepreneurs who came to Poland just only several years later have also been clearly identified. The research results show that, to strengthen the position and to raise the business awareness of Vietnamese business community in Poland, to strengthen it into a more developed and unified community for the purpose of future sustainable development, Vietnamese embassy in Poland with all of its networks of partnership, Vietnam's foreign trade promotion and trade representative agencies, and the diverse Vietnamese associations in Poland, both for profit and non-profit, need to play an interactive role to support Vietnamese businessmen and entrepreneurs to understand indigenous business practices, to overcome language and culture barriers in a bid to better integrate with the Polish business and social environment.

Resumen
The paper analyzes some features of Vietnamese immigration to the Russian Federation. We provide estimates of the number of Vietnamese citizens living in Russia, their distribution by region, and key areas of employment. The results obtained in the work are based on official data published by Rosstat, the Main Directorate for Migration of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia, as well as some survey data conducted by the authors of the article. We can say that despite the existence of an agreement on a “comprehensive strategic partnership” between Russia and Vietnam, the potential of Vietnamese migration remains underestimated. The structure of migration flows from Vietnam to Russia is dominated by labor and educational migration. However, in recent years Russia has lost some of its advantages, which were formed during the Soviet Union. Vietnamese migrants find new directions for migration. Among them are the countries of ASEAN, the USA, the countries of Europe. The main barriers to realizing Vietnam's migration potential in relation to Russia are the maintenance of an asymmetric visa regime, a decrease in the competitiveness of Russian wages, and high bureaucratic barriers to the entry of Vietnamese businesses into Russian regions. Additional risk factors are geopolitical tensions and the volatility of the ruble exchange rate. Nevertheless, it is noted that there is still interest from Vietnamese entrepreneurs to open a business in Russia. Opportunities for expanding Russian-Vietnamese migration ties may lie in the plane of the implementation of the Free Trade Agreement between the EAEU and Vietnam, ratified in October 2016.

Resumen
Inspired by the theme of the World Customs Organization and its conclusion that ‘Trade facilitation initiatives and intergovernmental schemes of customs community have been providing logistics enterprises with many opportunities to join effectively and profitably in the integrated supply chains all over the world’, this analysis focuses on Vietnam Customs creation of Authorized Economic Operator (AEO) status. It aims to enhance global trade security and foster business competitiveness, promoting greater success in international trade and business. However, Vietnam’s logistics companies cannot readily benefit from the AEO program because they cannot meet the AEO criteria of high exports and imports volume (for Vietnamese traders) as well as a huge number of customs declarations (for Vietnamese customs brokers). Obviously, no Vietnamese logistics company has been granted AEO status since the beginning of AEO program. Shining a light on this, we can explore the reality of why Vietnamese logistics companies really have not benefitted from the current AEO program.

Resumen
Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) have been important for Vietnam's rapid economic development. This paper investigates the ways in which Vietnam's SMEs have been affected by the ongoing internationalization of the Vietnamese economy and points out the challenges that lie ahead if the country's plans for further trade liberalization are realized. The basis of our analysis is a unique database on the activities of a large sample of Vietnamese SMEs during 1990, 1996, and 2002, with quantitative data about company operations, as well as qualitative information about the entrepreneurs' perceptions of the current business environment and their expectations about the future.

Resumen
The Problem According to the Mastercard Index of Women Entrepreneurs, 31.3% of businesses in Vietnam are owned by women, placing Vietnam at the sixth out of the 53 surveyed economies. Despite the prevalence of female entrepreneurship in Vietnam, little is known about the motivations, challenges, and success factors of those occupying this vibrant sector of the Vietnamese economy. Greater knowledge of how women entrepreneurs perceive themselves and the Vietnamese business environment could stimulate greater support for their personal and career development. The Solution This study aims to explore Vietnamese women entrepreneurs’ motivations, challenges, and success factors. This qualitative research study provides (a) a brief introduction to the business context and the role of women entrepreneurs in Vietnam; (b) findings on Vietnamese women motivation for to starting and running business, as well as the challenges they face, and factors contributing to their success; and (c) recommendations for government policies, business communities, and the development of female entrepreneurs in Vietnam. As few research studies on women business owners in Vietnam are available, this empirical study can contribute to more effective practice and further research on this cohort in Vietnam. The Stakeholders Recommendations provided in this study will help governmental policymakers, business communities, and female entrepreneurs in Vietnam.

Resumen
Purpose – The purpose of this paper is to explore multiple stakeholders’ perceptions of leadership in Vietnamese state-owned enterprises (SOEs). Design/methodology/approach – The paper presents findings from semi-structured interviews that were conducted in Vietnam, with seven different stakeholders who had varying understandings of Vietnamese business leadership within the Vietnamese business context. All interviews were transcribed, then translated into English, and thematic analysis of the interview data undertaken. Findings – The paper suggests that there was a significant variation in Vietnamese leadership perceptions when compared to Western leadership practices, especially when considering the perceptions of those stakeholders with regard to business leadership in the Vietnamese collectivist cultural context. The themes presented include: SOE decision making and responsibility; SOE promotions and appointments; and SOE performance. Research limitations/implications – In the absence of studies of leadership in Vietnamese SOEs, and leadership studies in the Vietnamese culture in general, this research was deliberately exploratory and qualitative. Future mixed methods or quantitative studies are recommended to offer more generalizable conclusions. Practical implications – Implications are discussed that point to leadership changes in Vietnamese organizations, and at the individual level, to assist the Vietnamese government, SOEs, and future leaders. Recommendations are also made that are intended to assist foreign business investors and multinational companies operating in Vietnam, now and in the future, to improve their leadership capacity within this context. Social implications – Vietnam is a country in social and economic transition. Understanding the leadership practices and perceptions, especially how that might differ from leadership in Western nations, is critical for the success of organizations in Vietnam and, in turn, for the economic and social prosperity of the Vietnamese people. Originality/value – The paper contributes perceptions of business leadership in Vietnamese SOEs that have not previously been explored and should be, especially given this critical time of economic and social transition for the Vietnamese nation and economy.

Resumen
<h1>The purposes of this study are to explore in detail the tacit business knowledge transfer process and the effective transfer method from founder to successor in Vietnamese family businesses. This study, using separate interviews of paired founders and successors in five Vietnamese family businesses, aims to contribute to the general understanding of such processes in South East Asian family businesses. This study confirms that the tacit business knowledge transfer process is an on-going process until the founder is unable to continue due to physical or mental health preventing further communication. In addition, it indicates that the mentor-mentee method is the most common method for tacit knowledge transfer process. Storytelling is also a common process; unlike traditional Western SMEs, use of formal documentation tends to be far less prevalent as a way of transferring knowledge. The findings of this study show that not all of tacit business knowledge from the founder is important to the successor. Therefore, a successor needs time spent alone to contemplate each tacit business lesson, before determining whether to absorb it. </h1>

Resumen
Purpose – The purpose of this study is to examine the attitudes toward business ethics of Vietnamese business students based on gender and the experience of having taken a business ethics course. Design/methodology/approach – A quantitative self-administered survey was conducted with a convenience sample of Vietnamese business students at a banking university in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. This study used the 30-item Attitudes Toward Business Ethics Questionnaire (ATBEQ) constructed by Neumann and Reichel (1987) based on the work of Stevens (1979). The Vietnamese version questionnaire was distributed, and 282 surveys were used for analysis. An item-by-item analysis was conducted based on gender and the experience of having taken a business ethics course. Findings – Significant differences were found on seven items based on gender and four items based on the experience of having taken a business ethics course. However, respondents appeared to have similar attitudes on the majority of the items. Research limitations/implications – Perhaps the greatest limitation of this study is the relatively uneven distribution of the respondents in the sample. The sample is skewed slightly toward women who are a bit older, fourth year or post-graduate and those who have not taken a business ethics course. In addition convenience sampling technique reduced its generalizability. This study is important because it supports the idea of ethics education to improve ethical decision-making of future business leaders and that education has an effect in Vietnam. Practical implications – As business students are the main subjects of this research, it can be useful for those involved in development of management and business education in Vietnam to have an overview on how gender impacts business students’ ethics perception. For the executives of multinational corporations, this study provides important information and adds support to a decision to do business in Vietnam. Social implications – Although there may be a perception of a less than ethical climate in Vietnam based on its Corruption Perception Index scores, it appears that Vietnamese business students in general express an ethical viewpoint. This study emphasizes the importance of ethics education that is culture-specific to build a strong ethical business environment that can help Vietnam prevent bribery and corruption and achieve sustainable growth and prosperity. Originality/value – This study contributes to the attitudes toward business ethics research and sheds light on the impact of gender and education (business ethics course) on Vietnamese business students’ ethical attitudes. There has been little research on business ethics in Vietnam. Academicians, managers, practitioners, policymakers, government leaders and the like can benefit from the findings of this paper.

Resumen
Purpose Many family businesses do not survive into the second generation. A common reason put forward for this is poor succession planning for the second generation. This paper is designed with the aim to explore the role of the father in supporting the son’s business knowledge and development in Vietnamese family businesses. Design/methodology/approach This research adopted an inductive qualitative approach using multiple face-to-face semi-structured interviews with five father–son succession pairs. The interview participants were a cross section of Vietnamese family businesses, where the father–son pair was involved in the process of business knowledge transfer and the succession process was at an advanced stage. Findings The results suggest that the father plays different roles at different stages of the son’s business knowledge development process. In particular, the father acts as an example during the son’s childhood; a supporter to encourage the son to gain more business knowledge from both formal education and working experience outside the family business; a mentor and trouble-shooter after the son joins the family business as a full-time employee; and as an advisor after the son becomes the leader of the firm. Originality/value Most Vietnamese family businesses are still operating under the control of the first generation, and as a result, research into the succession process in Vietnam can help to provide valuable insights. Furthermore, existing research into the role of the predecessor in the whole process from the successor’s childhood until the end of the succession process is ambiguous and requires further research to clarify this research gap.

Resumen
Purpose The purpose of this paper is to explore the antecedents and consequences of employee engagement (EE) in global research and Vietnamese business context. Design/methodology/approach This review was conducted in the following order: an integrative review for garnering drivers and outcomes of EE in global research, followed by a narrative review for selecting variables relevant to Vietnamese businesses. Findings In EE global research, a 3 × 3 findings framework was devised. Three antecedent clusters included the internal environment, job-related and employee-related factors. EE resulted in three outcome clusters: intra-role behaviors, extra-role behaviors and personal development and growth. In Vietnamese businesses, few studies existed on organizational learning and organizational support as EE antecedents, whereas turnover intention was examined the most as an EE outcome. Research limitations/implications The search was limited to EE-related peer-reviewed articles in Business Source Complete and Google Scholar. Literature on Vietnam EE was restricted to ProQuest Dissertations and Theses and Google Scholar because of a lack of literature availability on this topic in Business Source Complete. Practical implications Knowing that leadership, HR practices and working environment are important antecedents of EE in Vietnam (Table II) would prompt enterprise leaders and managers to improve the company’s conditions for engaging its employees. This is an important finding because Vietnamese businesses are suffering increasing turnover. Creating favorable organizational support evidenced via career growth opportunities, pay and benefits, company culture, job fit and effective management will stimulate employees to stay and engage. Originality/value This study emphasizes the organizational and employee factors in EE research and calls for combined research application to inform EE in Vietnamese businesses, thus providing ground for human resource development researchers and practitioners in their respective work.

Resumen
Crisis management is a management function that tries to mitigate the impact of crisis events when they occur in a business or organization. Since crises are inevitable, it is important that businesses and organizations have crisis management plans ready for the eventuality of a crisis. Little has been written about crisis in emerging nations. As such, this exploratory study investigates the perceptions and experiences of Vietnamese managers regarding crisis preparedness. The results indicate that a majority of the organizations do not have formal crisis management plans. The results of this study suggest that crisis planning at both the organizational and individual level are needed among Vietnamese businesses.

Resumen
The migration of Vietnamese people abroad to live and do business there is associated with the transfer of money back home to relatives and family members, which is commonly known as remittances. Over the past 100 years, Vietnam has witnessed many waves of population migration abroad with many different causes and conditions. As a result of Vietnamese migration abroad, remittances increased. Remittances make up a considerable part of Vietnam’s GDP, and they are not only an important source of income for many families but also an important source of foreign currency capital to ensure the balance of payments. In general, remittances contribute significantly to promoting the economic and socio-economic growth of developing countries like Vietnam. In the context of the current trend of economic integration and globalization, the fact that Vietnamese people migrate abroad, live and do business there transferring money back home is a positive point for the country. Taking into account the important role of remittances, accurate identification of their sources is extremely important for appropriate management solutions. The article builds some general theoretical bases on migration and remittances, analyzes the major trends in Vietnamese migration abroad over the past 50 years, and clarifies the current situation with the money transfers from migrants. Also, the author makes some recommendations on managing migration on remittances.

Resumen
The purpose of this article is to analyze and determine the influence of factors on the financial risks of enterprises in the steel industry listed on Vietnam's stock market. The data of the article are collected and calculated from the financial statements of 26 steel companies listed on the Vietnamese stock market from 2013 to 2020. With the application of E-view software in quantitative analysis to build a panel data regression model, the article has built a regression model to determine the relationship of internal factors affecting the financial risks of steel industry enterprises listed on the Vietnamese stock market. The results indicate that short-term payment ratio, return on assets, asset turnover ratio, working capital turnover, receivables turnover, debt maturity structure, and the ratio of long-term assets have a negative effect on financial risks, while debt ratio has a positive effect on financial risks of steel companies listed on Vietnam’s stock market. The findings of this article are considered to be useful for business managers in helping them to make the right financial decisions to control risks and increase corporate value in their condition.

Resumen
The article is devoted to cross-cultural issues of virtual business communication. The urgency of this research is in finding out the causes of failures in virtual business communication between Russian and Vietnamese business partners. In the aspect of intercultural communication, national stereotypes of communicative behavior (hereinafter NSCB) that impede the effective business communication of Russian and Vietnamese speakers have been identified. In the aspect of virtual communication, based on linguistic and cultural analysis, the specifics of electronic business letters in Russian, English and Vietnamese is revealed. The results of the study indicated the following reasons of failures in virtual intercultural business communication: lack of direct interactions between business partners – speakers of different languages; representation of communicative intentions in written form; peculiarities in NSCBs, reflected in the national language; cultural differences in NSCBs of business partners; each language has its own means of verbalizing the communicative intentions associated with the NSCBs of the native speaker of that language. The study resulted in distinguishing the types of speech and etiquette violation in virtual business communication between Russian and Vietnamese partners, which might help in lessening communicative misunderstanding and achieving extra-linguistic goals of communication.

Resumen
The article analyses Vietnam’s commitment to implementing the Trade Facilitation Agreement (TFA) of the World Trade Organization (WTO) from a legal perspective. With the TFA’s importance in terms of trade effects, not to mention its binding scope for all WTO members, Vietnam has reasons to make every effort to complete the TFA’s commitments as soon as possible. Therefore, a review of Vietnamese law to align with the TFA’s obligations and commitments is essential and meaningful. Vietnam’s legal documents reviewed in this study have a direct impact on its foreign trade. Most of the TFA’s duties have already been codified in Vietnamese law, with just a small portion of the remaining specified obligations likely to be incorporated into domestic legal documents in the near future. Full compliance with the TFA, as well as practical implementation, would be a stepping stone toward a variety of benefits for Vietnam’s economic development. Vietnam, TFA, Customs law

Resumen
This study explores the application of the Balanced Scorecard (BSC) model in evaluating the performance of businesses in Vietnam, focusing on a production case study. The BSC model, which encompasses four perspectives—financial, customer, internal business processes, and learning and growth—is widely used to assess and improve organizational performance. By employing a mixed-methods approach, including interviews, surveys, and secondary data analysis, this research examines the implementation of the BSC model in a Vietnamese production company. The study reveals the strengths and weaknesses of the company’s performance across the four BSC perspectives and identifies the challenges in applying the model within the Vietnamese context. The findings suggest that the BSC model can be effectively adapted to evaluate and enhance the performance of Vietnamese businesses. The study also provides recommendations for strategies to improve performance based on the BSC analysis and highlights the need for further research on the application of the BSC model in various industries in Vietnam. This research contributes to the growing body of literature on performance evaluation in Vietnamese businesses and offers practical insights for managers seeking to implement the BSC model in their organizations.

Resumen
This paper examines how Vietnamese enterprises in various industries, including oil and gas, transportation, and food, were impacted by the tensions between Russia and Ukraine during the first half of 2022. By utilizing statistical comparison methods, the study found that there were fluctuations in revenue, profit, and other indicators that measure business activity. Specifically, in the oil and gas industry, companies such as Vietnam Gas Corporation, Binh Son Refining and Petrochemical Joint Stock Company, and Ca Mau Petroleum Fertilizer Company saw higher revenue and financial ratios compared to the industry average, while other businesses experienced a decrease from the previous quarter. Transport companies benefited from increased import and export, as well as high freight rates and global price hikes for goods and materials. The food industry in Vietnam saw the Russia-Ukraine conflict as a significant opportunity for growth, but businesses still encountered challenges in capitalizing on this potential. As Vietnam's economy is deeply intertwined with the global economy, fluctuations and high inflation in the world economy can have an impact on the country's economy and businesses. Keywords: Market Volatility, Political Tension, Vietnamese Enterprises, Russia-Ukraine Conflict.

Resumen
Reports that nearly half of Vietnam's roundwood imports come from illegal sources has drawn criticism from major consumer countries who have recently implemented timber legality regulations. These regulations, which include the U.S. Lacey Act and EU Timber Regulation, restrict the import of illegally harvested wood and are expected to have a direct impact on major wood-processing countries such as Vietnam and China. Surveys were conducted at trade shows in Ho Chi Minh City to assess how these regulations influence firms’ use of chain-of-custody certification, and impact their material sourcing and export market decisions. Vietnamese firms which sell to the United States and the European Union had higher awareness of timber legality regulations and were more likely to take steps to eliminate illegal products from their supply chain by sourcing raw materials from the U.S. and Canada or by increasing their use of certified wood. However, smaller firms were generally unaware of timber legality regulations and were much less likely to use certified products. Our findings suggest that the Vietnamese market has become segmented, with smaller firms using materials which are at a higher risk of containing illegal wood, and exporting to less regulated markets, such as China.

Resumen
In the context of integration, the capital market has important implications for strengthening economic resources for development. This becomes even more important as the derivative securities market has recently emerged in some countries. It is an opportunity for countries to approach many capital sources, especially foreign capital. The objective of this paper is to identify factors affecting the development of Vietnamese derivative financial markets. The paper uses exploratory factor analysis and ordinary least squares to test the model. A survey sample includes 152 managers and experts of Vietnamese derivative securities companies in 2019. The results show that the International integration factor has the same direction, while the Legal environment factor has an adverse impact on the development of the Vietnamese derivative securities market. Therefore, Vietnamese regulatory bodies should amend some laws to create stability in the legal corridor, and state management agencies in the country need the orientation and the international integration strategy to attract financial resources for the development of Vietnam’s economy.

Resumen
Purpose: This study focuses on entrepreneurship in Vietnam. It explores a founder's motivations, challenges, and growth strategies through concrete examples from public relations. Design/methodology/approach: This study adopts an inductive, grounded theory approach and collects data through a series of in-depth interviews. Findings: The results of this study show that most Vietnamese public relations industry founders are reluctant to make decisions based on their needs. At first, none of them had sufficient management skills or considered managerial tasks to be the most difficult. They are also less likely to make the changes their companies need to grow. They prefer to run small businesses because moderate growth is considered more sustainable and manageable. Originality: Despite the rising importance of entrepreneurship and public relations in Vietnam, there are only a few studies on Vietnam’s public relations industry, and no previous work has explored why an entrepreneur decides to venture into public relations. Inadequate attention to the field calls for better understanding and research on this topic. Practical implications: This study expands the body of knowledge on Vietnamese entrepreneurship and provides practical implications and suggestions for businesspeople in Vietnam by providing insights into the founders’ startup and management journey. Keywords: entrepreneurship, entrepreneurial motivation, business growth, SME, public relations, Vietnam

Resumen
The number of students in Vietnam who start their own businesses is on the rise; therefore, it is necessary to conduct this research in order to determine the factors that influence the preparation of female students for business ownership and management. The study participants were selected using a technique known as convenience sampling. In July and August of 2021, the required data collection for the analysis occurred. Two hundred forty-four female students attending one of four institutions in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, filled out the questionnaire. According to the findings of this study, academic year, major, and parental business license did not significantly impact female students' entrepreneurial preparedness. A further reality is that a person's readiness to engage in entrepreneurial activity was impacted by their knowledge of entrepreneurship, social norms, and behavioral control. There were differences in the ways in which criteria associated with permanent residences, such as central, province, and district, influence the entrepreneurial readiness of female students. The key finding highlights that characteristics significantly influence female students' readiness for entrepreneurship, distinguishing the impact of demographic factors on this preparedness. The outcomes offer valuable insights for female college students aspiring to become entrepreneurs and underscore the importance of further research to assess entrepreneurial readiness among Vietnamese students comprehensively.

Japan is one of the most significant foreign investors in Vietnam. However, information about trade compliance by Japanese firms in Vietnam remains scant. This study draws from a new survey of Vietnamese import and export enterprises in 2019, which includes both local and Japanese firms. It shows that Japanese firms are performing better than local firms in terms of trade compliance and regulation. They are also more likely to acknowledge the importance of public-private partnerships and the legal capacity of human force. However, the biggest concerns and obstacles of these actors are Vietnam’s specialized laws and regulations in the cross-border trade of goods. These findings offer important policy implications to enhance trade compliance for Vietnamese enterprises in general and Japanese FDI firms in particular. Resumen
The quantitative study uses data from Vietnamese tourism businesses to assess organizational resilience. Data were collected from 202 tourism businesses after the COVID-19 pandemic and were analyzed using exploratory factor analysis and one-way ANOVA to measure organizational resilience between sub-sector tourism enterprises. The results showed that two important aspects of tourism business resilience, adaptive and planned resilience, are approached from an organizational perspective. There are significant differences between sub-sector tourism enterprises regarding planned and adaptive resilience. Large businesses with over 50 employees averaged significantly higher adaptive and planned resilience averages than small and medium enterprises. The study provides an opportunity to compare the tourism industry's organizational resilience with research on organizational resilience in general and tourism enterprise resilience and highlight the critical components of business resilience approached from an organizational perspective. The study supports previous hypotheses that tourism organizations can proactively and strategically plan for potential disruptions. The study provides recommendations for improving the resilience capacity of Vietnamese tourism businesses, including implications for adaptive and planned resilience so that tourism organizations can proactively and strategically plan for potential disruptions.

Resumen
It is meaningful to identify and quantify the impact of business microeconomic factors on firm value, not only for enterprises, but also for the industry, which contributes to the economic growth of the whole country. This paper aims to find evidence of how microeconomic factors relate to the value of manufacturing firms, helping businesses behave and adjust towards the goal of value maximization. This study applies three commonly used estimators with panel data, namely OLS, FEM and REM, using data obtained from FiinPro (a data providing company) and Vietstock on 691 companies listed on Vietnam’s two stock exchanges from 2008 to 2015; This was a sensitive period of world financial crisis, and Vietnamese manufacturing firms had a really hard time to overcome the difficulty in a global economy downturn. This paper found that (1) firm size, growth opportunities and financial leverage negatively affect firm value; (2) there is no evidence that operating cash flow, cash liquidity and intellectual capital affect firm value; (3) the estimation results confirm the non-linear relationship (order 3) between the directors’ share ownership ratio and corporate value; (4) state ownership and foreign ownership ratios have a negative effect on Vietnamese listed manufacturing firms during the period, but (5) there is no optimal number of BOD members. The findings help to measure the extent of the positive and negative impact of various factors, making it easier to find solutions to improve business value by promoting positive factors and preventing negative factors.

Resumen
As the world of business is becoming more globalized and diverse, business ethics also becomes a complicated and frequently controversial topic. Organizations as well as individuals are fully aware that business ethical issues can have a great influence on the public attitudes toward them, and unethical behaviors and conducts can destroy trust. In turn, ethical leaders and employees can influence positively decisions and behaviors of others, which can lead to organization’s sustainability. Today’s workplace has a high demand for ethical behaviors of all employees. This study examines the personal business ethics perceptions of 964 Vietnamese adults based on age, gender, management experience, and code of conduct by using Clark & Clark's (1966) Personal Business Ethics Scores (PBES) measure. The results demonstrate that there is a significant difference in personal business ethics perceptions on each variable. It appears that younger Vietnamese adults have higher personal business ethics scores than older adults. Vietnamese females scored higher than males. People with management experience have lower scores while those who have not experienced codes of conduct have higher scores than those who have experienced codes of conduct. In this study, literature review on ethics, corruption perception index of Vietnam, limitations, and implications are also provided.

Resumen
While many experts and professionals recognize the significance of employee engagement for job performance, there is a lack of research focused on generation Z, who are expected to constitute the majority of Vietnam’s future workforce. The emergence of generation Z in the workplace could create difficulties for organizational management and human resources professionals due to the increase in generational diversity. This study addressed the gap above by investigating key factors affecting the employee engagement of Vietnamese generation Z, and examine the degree of engagement influencing their job performance in the context of Vietnamese generationally diverse workplaces. Quantitative methods were utilized with primary data from an online structured survey of 258 Vietnamese generation Z in Ho Chi Minh City. The data were analysed by statistics techniques such as EFA, CFA and SEM via SPSS and AMOS software. The findings showed that supporting supervisor, working environment, and co-worker relationships positively influenced generation Z’s engagement, which leads to higher job performance. However, training and development, and compensation and benefit demonstrated no relationship with their engagement, hence, no correlation with job performance was found. This study provides an academic contribution to the comprehension of generational diversity and employee engagement within the Vietnamese business setting. Additionally, practical recommendations for employee engagement were suggested, with an emphasis on the importance of supportive supervisors.

Participants of the survey were Vietnamese individuals who had lived and graduated from university in Hungary, and had a good command of the Hungarian language. In this presentation, the results obtained will be displayed, including linguistic and cultural differences between representatives of the two aforementioned nations. The theoretical background of the study is the Lacuna Theory, developed by the Moscow School of Ethnopsycholinguistics. The results of the survey will hopefully contribute to the further development of the Lacuna Theory in general and in the business context in particular.

Resumen
Business formality is considered a key driver in the development of the private sector in developing countries, which can contribute to enhancing the capacity and competitiveness of firms. The purpose of this paper is to investigate the impact of formality on investments of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in Vietnam. Different from previous work, we apply a two-stage method with random-effects Probit and Tobit regressions to control for endogeneity surrounding formality and investments. Results show that formality measured by having a tax code fosters all types of investments. However, formality proxied by having a full set of business registration documents decreases total and fixed investments but increases non-fixed investments. Our findings suggest that relaxing complex procedures, enhancing the knowledge of the owner, and improving the ease of doing business play a crucial role in the formalization of Vietnamese SMEs.
