Resumen
This paper deals with the fundamental aspect of dielectric relaxations in conducting inorganic solids. It has been shown that it is possible to evidence dielectric relaxations due to charge carriers such as electrons (small-polarons) and ions, dipole reorientations (e.g. water molecules in hydrates) and to interfacial polarization phenomena (e.g. grain boundaries) in polycrystalline compounds. The importance of all these phenomena is discussed in relation to their possible interventions in dielectric spectra.

Resumen
The Nitrogen doped graphene oxide (NGO) was synthesized by doping N-atoms on graphene oxide (GO) sheet by using melamine which serves as the nitrogen source, through hydrothermal approach. The insertion of nitrogen atoms into the graphene oxide sheet was confirmed by FT-IR, EDS and Raman spectroscopic techniques. We also probed into the tuned dielectric and magnetic properties of NGO due to the decomposition of oxy functional groups of GO and the insertion of pyridinic, pyrrolic and graphitic type nitrogen atoms into the graphitic structure. The dielectric properties were measured by Broadband Dielectric Spectroscopy (BDS). The magnetic behaviour of the sample was demonstrated by Vibrational Scanning Magnetometer (VSM).

Resumen
Nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) and broadband dielectric spectroscopy are used to investigate the dynamics of small glass-forming molecules confined to restricted geometries. Ethylene glycol molecules are embedded in the supercages of NaX zeolites. The combined application of NMR and broadband dielectric spectroscopy advances the understanding of the slowing down of the motion near the glass transition temperature of these confined molecules. In combination with nuclear spin relaxation and nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy, dielectric relaxation studies on glass forming molecules allow conclusions on the character of the motion. High resolution 1H magic angle spinning (MAS) NMR measurements not only enable a characterisation of the state of the adsorbed molecules via a chemical shift analysis. By means of an analysis of MAS spinning sidebands we may also estimate a correlation time the meaning of which will be discussed in comparison to the results of longitudinal proton spin relaxation measurements. In addition to broadband dielectric spectroscopy slow molecular motions of partially deuterated ethylene glycol adsorbed in NaX are studied by means of 2H NMR line-shape analysis.

Resumen
Abstract Broadband dielectric spectroscopy (BDS) is a method of characterizing matter from the perspective of its dielectric parameters, which varies depending on the frequency of the applied electromagnetic field. During recent years, along with its many uses, there has been an increase in interest in the use of the method in biomedical fields, especially for the characterization of normal and tumor cells. In this context, this review aims to address in the first part the theoretical bases and mathematical models that explain the principle of operation of the broadband spectroscope. Subsequently, the advantages and limitations of the method are detailed, including the difficulties that the researcher may encounter in the case of working with living cells. Finally, the most important scientific results obtained on normal and pathological cell cultures are presented, possible future research directions being suggested.

Resumen
Applications for low-temperature cofired ceramics (LTCC) and high-temperature cofired ceramics (HTCC) are advancing to higher frequencies. In order to design ceramic microsystems and electronic packages, the electrical properties of materials must be well characterized over a broad frequency range. In this study, the dielectric properties of commercial aluminum oxide (Al2O3) with different glass loadings are characterized using three different measurement techniques: the split-post cavity, terahertz (THz) time-domain spectroscopy, and Fourier transform IR spectroscopy (FTIR). Specifically, the dielectric properties will be characterized from 10 GHz to IR frequencies. A split-post cavity was employed for determination of dielectric properties in the 10 GHz range. A broadband THz spectroscopy technique was used to characterize the specimens using measured time-domain transmission data. The dielectric constant and loss were extracted from the sample's frequency-domain transmission characteristics, providing data between 100 GHz and 2 THz. Additionally, FTIR was used to characterize the samples from ~33 to 3300 cm−1 (~1–100 THz). The measurements from the three techniques are compared, and dielectric constant and loss data will be presented for commercial and experimental ceramic systems from 10 GHz to IR frequencies.

Resumen
Abstract This paper introduces a sensor designed for measuring the dielectric constant of small amounts of liquid. The sensor consists of a coplanar waveguide transmission line and an open container for the liquid, enabling broadband dielectric spectroscopy measurements for milliliter-scale liquids in the 1-60 GHz range. To improve the accuracy of dielectric spectroscopy testing, the sensor is calibrated using air and deionized water to obtain a coefficient matrix relating the sensor’s distributed parameters to the sample’s dielectric constant. This matrix is then used to calculate the dielectric spectroscopy of subsequent test samples. Tests on the dielectric spectroscopy of deionized water with this sensor and algorithm indicate that over the 1-60 GHz band, the error compared to previous literature results is within 5%, demonstrating the reliability of the proposed sensor and dielectric spectroscopy extraction algorithm.

Resumen
Microwave ablation is a technique used to treat tumorous tissue. Its clinical use has been greatly expanding in the last few years. Because the design of the ablation antenna and the success of the treatment greatly depend on the accurate knowledge of the dielectric properties of the tissue being treated, it is highly valuable to have a microwave ablation antenna that is also able to perform in-situ dielectric spectroscopy. In this work, an open-ended coaxial slot ablation antenna design operating at 5.8 GHz is adopted from previous work, and its sensing abilities and limitations are investigated in respect of the dimensions of the material under test. Numerical simulations were performed to investigate the functionality of the floating sleeve of the antenna and to find the optimal de-embedding model and calibration option for obtaining accurate dielectric properties of the area of interest. Results show that, as in the case of the open-ended coaxial probe, the accuracy of the measurement greatly depends on the likeness between the calibration standards’ dielectric properties and the material under test. Finally, the results of this paper clarify to which extent the antenna can be used to measure dielectric properties and paves the way to future improvements and the introduction of this functionality into microwave thermal ablation treatments.

Resumen
Infrared spectroscopy resolves the structure of molecules by detecting their characteristic vibrational fingerprints. Subwavelength light confinement and nanophotonic enhancement have extended the scope of this technique for monolayer studies. However, current approaches still require complex spectroscopic equipment or tunable light sources. Here, we introduce a novel metasurface-based method for detecting molecular absorption fingerprints over a broad spectrum, which combines the device-level simplicity of state-of-the-art angle-scanning refractometric sensors with the chemical specificity of infrared spectroscopy. Specifically, we develop germanium-based high-Q metasurfaces capable of delivering a multitude of spectrally selective and surface-sensitive resonances between 1100 and 1800 cm−1. We use this approach to detect distinct absorption signatures of different interacting analytes including proteins, aptamers, and polylysine. In combination with broadband incoherent illumination and detection, our method correlates the total reflectance signal at each incidence angle with the strength of the molecular absorption, enabling spectrometer-less operation in a compact angle-scanning configuration ideally suited for field-deployable applications.

AbstractIn this work of the material investigation, electrical parameters, which are real part and imaginary part of modulus, dielectric constant, dissipation factor, and conductivity, in the bulk pellet of probertite sample is presented. Electrical properties were investigated via temperature and frequency dependent dielectric spectroscopy. Real and imaginary part of dielectric parameter properties of the probertite were measured at frequencies from 100 to 15M Hz in the temperature range of 25 to 150 °C. Temperature dependence of the real part of the dielectric constant suggests that these compounds exhibit strong electromagnetic absorption and broadband electrical behavior.

Resumen
In this work, the influence of semi-conductive SiC nanoparticles on the AC breakdown voltage and partial discharge development in natural ester oil FR3 is examined. Primarily, the dielectric constant and the electrical conductivity of the nanoparticles are measured following the broadband dielectric spectroscopy technique. The nanoparticles are added into the matrix following the ultrasonication process in three weight percentage ratios in order for their effect to be evaluated as a function of their concentration inside the base oil. The processing of the results reveals that the nanofluid containing SiC nanoparticles at 0.004% w/w demonstrates the highest AC dielectric strength improvement and shows the greatest resistance to the appearance of partial discharge activity. The mechanisms behind the aforementioned results are discussed in detail and confirmed by the broadband dielectric spectroscopy technique, which reveals that this particular nanofluid sample is characterized by lower dielectric constant and electrical conductivity than the one with double the weight percentage ratio.

Resumen
The complex dielectric behaviors of ferroelectric barium titanate (BT) ceramics were investigated. The dielectric properties were studied as a function of temperature and frequency using broadband dielectric spectrometer. The results show that the maximum value of dielectric constant occurs at 500nm BT ceramics, which is approximately 7,500; the dielectric loss is lower than 0.03 with the temperature varying from 225 K to 450 K. Dielectric constant and dielectric loss experience three dielectric peaks corresponding to rhombohedral to orthorhombic, tetragonal and cubic transitions. With the frequency ranges from 1 MHz to 1 GHz, the dielectric relaxation is apparently present. The relaxation process obeys Cole-Cole relaxation model at high temperature and conforms to Debye relaxation model when the temperature far lower than Curie temperature. The relaxation time is the order magnitude of ~10-9s obtained by Havriliak-Negami function fitting, which is very consistent with theoretical calculation.

Resumen
Aluminium nitride (AlN) is considered as a substrate material for microelectronic applications. AlN ceramic composites with different amount of TiO2 (up to 4 vol.%) were obtained using hot pressing at different sintering temperature from 1700 to 1900 ?C. It was shown that milling of the raw AlN powder has strongly influence on sintering and improves densification. Broadband dielectric spectroscopy was used as a nondestructive method for monitoring of the ceramic microstructures. TiO2 additive affects the key properties of AlN ceramics. Thus, porosity of 0.1%, dielectric permeability of ? = 9.7 and dielectric loss tangent of tan? = 1.3?10-3 can be achieved if up to 2 vol.% TiO2 is added.

Resumen
In dielectric relaxation spectroscopy the conduction contribution often hampers the evaluation of dielectric spectra, especially in the low-frequency regime. In order to overcome this the logarithmic derivative technique could be used, where the calculation of the logarithmic derivative of the real part of the complex permittivity function is needed. Since broadband dielectric measurement provides discrete permittivity function, numerical differentiation has to be used. Applicability of the Savitzky-Golay convolution method in the derivative analysis is examined, and a detailed investigation of the influential parameters (frequency, spectrum resolution, peak shape) is presented on synthetic dielectric data.

Resumen
There is an urgent need for the development of elastic dielectric materials for flexible organic field effect transistors (OFETs). In this work, detailed analysis of the AC and DC electrical conductivity of a series of flexible poly(dimethylsiloxane) (PDMS) polymers crosslinked by metal-ligand coordination in comparison to neat PDMS was performed for the first time by means of broadband dielectric spectroscopy. The ligand was 2,2-bipyridine-4,4-dicarboxylic amide, and Ni2+, Mn2+, and Zn2+ were introduced for Cl−, Br−, and I− salts. Introduction of metal salt and creation of coordination bonds resulted in higher permittivity values increasing in an order: neat PDMS < Ni2+ < Mn2+ < Zn2+; accompanied by conductivity values of the materials increasing in an order: neat PDMS < Cl− < I− < Br−. Conductivity relaxation time plot as a function of temperature, showed Vogel-Fulcher–Tammann dependance for the Br− salts and Arrhenius type for the Cl− and I− salts. Performed study revealed that double-edged challenge can be obtained, i.e., dielectric materials with elevated value of dielectric permittivity without deterioration too much the non-conductive nature of the polymer. This opens up new perspectives for the production of flexible dielectrics suitable for gate insulators in OFETs. Among the synthesized organometallic materials, those with chlorides salts are the most promising for such applications.
