Resumen
In the present work, biomorphic TiC/C ceramic with a woodlike structure was synthesized from wood template. The TiC coatings were formed on the surface of C-wood-template in a reaction medium consisting of Ti powder in a mixture of molten LiCl-KCl salts under an argon atmosphere. The structure and biomorph of the TiC/C ceramic were characterized by XRD, TG-DSC, SEM and EDX analyses. The results indicated that Ti powder had reacted with carbon in the cellular wall to form TiC coatings. The resulting biomorphic TiC/C ceramic retained well the structure of the original biomorph of the wood.

Resumen
Purpose This paper aims to introduce the concept of biomorphism (i.e. indirect experience of nature) in servicescape designs and validates its impact on consumer responses. Using the stimulus-organism-response (S-O-R) framework, this study explores the relationship between biomorphic servicescape designs and the servicescape preference. Further, it explains how biomorphic designs can help users to get better connected with the servicescapes by introducing the mediating role of attention restoration and place identity (emotional and cognitive), as explained by attention restoration theory. Design/methodology/approach Two empirical studies were carried out to test the hypothesised relationships: an exploratory pre-experimental design with one-shot treatment using 200 images as stimuli and 3,680 responses; and a 3 × 2 factorial design with three-dimensional images with about 654 responses for three service contexts chosen a priori: fashion retail, restaurant and hospital lobby. Findings This study conceptualises the role of biomorphism – elements that mimic natural forms – in servicescape designs and establishes that, akin to natural elements, the indirect experience of nature in servicescapes also has a positive influence on attention restoration, perceived place identity and servicescape preference of the consumers. This implies that the effects similar to that of a biophilic servicescape can be achieved through servicescape elements that mimic natural forms. Originality/value Extending the idea of biophilia, this research adopts the concept of biomorphism from architecture and environmental psychology domains and introduces biomorphic servicescape designs, which could be more practical at times compared to biophilic servicescapes. It establishes the influences of biomorphic servicescape designs on consumer preferences. Grounded in the S-O-R model, it further explains this relationship through mediating effects of attention restoration and place identity. Being new to marketing and management domains, this research may trigger a series of research studies on biomorphic service environment designs, with desirable implications for services marketing and services operations functions.

Resumen
We revealed the composition of the coenotaxa of the shrub and shrub-steppe components of natural vegetation cover in the lower reaches of Inhulets river. For analyzing, we used 209 geobotanical releves collected during 1998–2017. Classification schemes of vegetation were created basing on the dominant approach. The article shows that the class of deciduous shrubs is presented by 9 associations belonging to 4 formations – Crataegeta fallacinae, Pruneta stepposae, Rhamneta catharticae, Roseta corymbiferae, and the class of shrub steppes – by 17 associations belonging to 6 formations – Amygdaleta nanae, Caraganeta fruticis, C. scythicae, Chamaecytiseta granitici, Ephedreta distachyae and Genisteta scythicae. The most widespread formation among deciduous shrubs is Crataegeta fallacinae, and among shrub steppes – Chamaecytiseta granitici. The last one determines the specifics of the vegetation cover in this region; its communities demonstrate high degree of adaptation to carbonate content in soils as well as tolerance to moderate total salt content, which is completely unusual for communities formed by ligneous biomorphes. The specific richness of the coenoflora of deciduous shrubs (Fruticeta foliosa) is formed by 189 species, and one of the coenoflora of shrub steppes (Steppa fruticeta) by 261 species. The comparative analysis of the structures of the coenofloras showed their significant differences. The ranking order of families in the taxonomic spectrum of flora of shrub steppes, in its basic part, approaches to proportions which are peculiar to the flora of whole Northern Black Sea Area; the family Rosaceae occupying the second place in the similar spectrum for the class of deciduous shrubs makes this coenoflora closer to floras of Central Europe. The characteristic feature of the flora of deciduous shrubs is the dominance of species of Palaearctic area type (25,8%), but, in the flora of shrub steppes, species of Black Sea area type (29,1%) prevail; it suggests that the core of the latter flora is original and indigenous. In contrast to the flora of deciduous shrubs where subshrubs are absolutely absent, the role of this biomorphe considerably increases within the composition of shrub steppes (up to 5,7%). The analysis of the ecologic structure of the investigated coenofloras showed that xeromesophytes prevail in the hygrospectrum of deciduous shrubs and euxerophytes do in the hygrospectrum of shrub steppes. In ecologic and coenotic spectra of both coenofloras, steppant species absolutely dominate: it is natural for shrub steppes and reflects the amphicoenotic character of deciduous shrubs.

Resumen
Since his existence, mankind tends to arrange his environment according to his own needs. He has designed spaces that he can make use of and benefit from in nature. He has made use of the order in nature and various objects in the environment. In architectural design, the nature-based design is called as the biomorphism. Referring to the biological formation and of which point of origin is the living organism in nature, biomorphism is used in architecture by taking the functions and systems of nature as an example along with the support of the technology and biology in urban planning and structural design. In this study, Konya Tropical Butterfly Garden, an example of biomorphic design, which hosts many butterfly types has been analysed. The garden reminds a butterfly form on an overall basis. When assessing the relationship between the architecture, construct and concept of the garden, it can see that it has a pioneering perspective.
On the basis of comparative morphological analysis of the structure of life forms the concept “key biomorph” is offered; it is a mien of a plant which reflects adaptation to the conditions of a definite habitat (a static aspect, a model) and a definite stage in evolutional changes of biomorphs (a dynamical / evolutional aspect). The paper shows a comparative morphological range of key biomorphs in accordance with a monopodial rosette model of shoot formation per gradient of moisture increase in the direction: a floodplain meadow – shores, shore fronts – the water line – a water body. Polygonum bistorta is considered the original key biomorph, changes in it could occur in three lines: 1) Polygonum bistorta – Butomus umbellatus – Nuphar lutea; 2) Polygonum bistorta – Scirpus lacustris – Eleocharis palustris; 3) Polygonum bistorta – Limosella aquatica – Stratiotes aloides. It seems that appearing of secondary-aquatic grasses with a monopodial rosette model of shoot formation was provided by the following modes of morphological evolution: deviation on the shoot level; abbreviation of the bud stage in shoot formation, in forming a part of the shoot (inflorescence), in the anatomic structure of the shoot and the ontogenesis of the original plant; prolongation of the bud phase in shoot development and ontogenesis of the genet.

Resumen
Biomorphs, Richard Dawkins’s iconic model of morphological evolution, are traditionally used to demonstrate the power of natural selection to generate biological order from random mutations. Here we show that biomorphs can also be used to illustrate how developmental bias shapes adaptive evolutionary outcomes. In particular, we find that biomorphs exhibit phenotype bias, a type of developmental bias where certain phenotypes can be many orders of magnitude more likely than others to appear through random mutations. Moreover, this bias exhibits a strong preference for simpler phenotypes with low descriptional complexity. Such bias towards simplicity is formalised by an information-theoretic principle that can be intuitively understood from a picture of evolution randomly searching in the space of algorithms. By using population genetics simulations, we demonstrate how moderately adaptive phenotypic variation that appears more frequently upon random mutations can fix at the expense of more highly adaptive biomorph phenotypes that are less frequent. This result, as well as many other patterns found in the structure of variation for the biomorphs, such as high mutational robustness and a positive correlation between phenotype evolvability and robustness, closely resemble findings in molecular genotype-phenotype maps. Many of these patterns can be explained with an analytic model based on constrained and unconstrained sections of the genome. We postulate that the phenotype bias towards simplicity and other patterns biomorphs share with molecular genotype-phenotype maps may hold more widely for developmental systems.

Resumen
Humans live in a close relationship with the mechanism of nature, and it has been a research topic for a long period of time. Historically, people have taken a lot of inspirations from nature and used creatures in nature as a source of their ideation for the purpose of solving diverse problems. At present, biomimic design converged with nature has been used in multidisciplinary fields such as architecture, medicine and fashion. Under these circumstances, this study attempted to suggest artistic values and a possibility of continuous expressions in beauty makeup through infinite uniqueness and diversity by applying biomorphic design. For this, an empirical research was performed based on the concept and design characteristics of biomorphism. In addition, the pictures on the websites were applied to biomorphic design processes. Based on the characteristics of each creature, three face artworks were created in a formative manner, using the colors which are good for each topic. The results found that the application of beauty and art to creatures in nature builds multilateral and unique ideas and, at the same time, makes creative face art possible by going beyond conventional standardized beauty. Therefore, it is anticipated that there would be further studies on creative face art design based on ‘biomorphic design methodology’ by upgrading the standards of body art through the continued development of unique and diverse makeup design.

Resumen
The synthesis of nucleic acids in the Precambrian era marked the start of life, with DNA being the molecule in which the genetic information has been conserved ever since. After studying the DNA of different organisms for several decades, we now know that cell size and cellular differentiation are influenced by DNA concentration and environmental conditions. However, we still need to find out the minimum required concentration of DNA in the pioneer cell to control the resulting morphology. In order to do this, the present research aims to evaluate the influence of the DNA concentration on the morphology adopted by biomorphs (barium silica-carbonates) under two synthesis conditions: one emulating the Precambrian era and one emulating the present era. The morphology of the synthetized biomorphs was assessed through scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The chemical composition and the crystalline structure were determined through Raman and IR spectroscopy. Our results showed that DNA, even at relatively low levels, affects the morphology of the biomorph structure. They also indicated that, even at the low DNA concentration prevailing during the synthesis of the first DNA biomolecules existing in the primitive era, these biomolecules influenced the morphology of the inorganic structure that lodged it. On the other hand, this also allows us to infer that, once the DNA was synthetized in the Precambrian era, it was definitely responsible for generating, conserving, and directing the morphology of all organisms up to the present day.

Resumen
We studied the geographical and ecological identity of the distribution of representatives of the two subspecies of Saxifraga hirculus in northeastern European Russia. They showed that plants of subsp. compacta grow in cold climates on alternately wet substrates of different types of tundras; plants of subsp. hirculus grow under conditions warmer conditions with constant strong humidification. Growth in different conditions led to significant differences in biomorphs of both subspecies. The basic biomorph of the northern subspecies is loose turfy polycarpic perennial herbaceous plants, while that of the typical one is the rhizomatous turfy plant.

Resumen
The paper presents comparative-morphological analysis of biomorphs Limosella aquatica L., stolon-rosette perennial mesophyte grasses (Viola odorata L.), and yearling vegetative hydrophytes (Stratiotes aloides L. and Hydrocharis morsus-ranae L.). It is shown that L. aquatica is a monopodial growing monocarpic with side stolon-rosette shoots and their systems with up to four branching orders. The primary shoot, as well as rosette parts of stolon-rosette shoots, is made of metamers with foliage leafs, axil complexes with differently sets of constituents: two collateral buds and/or their derivatives: flower buds/flowers/fruit, side stolon-rosette shoots or their systems. At the initial stage the shoot-forming mode of L. aquatica is similar to that of V. odorata: a monopodial rosette one with green assimilating leaves, flowers, and stolon-rosette shoots. But iterative branching of stolon-rosette shoots changes the shoot-forming mode of L. aquatica to a sympodial semirosette as in S. aloides, and especially in H. morsus-ranae. Biomorph L. aquatica combines the features of stolon-rosette perennial mesophyte grasses and stolon-rosette yearling vegetative hydrophytes: stolon-rosette shoot formation from axil buds, iterative branching, collateral buds, reduction inflorescence to one flower (S. aloides). Thus of habit L. aquatica can be viewed as a stage of perennial flower mesophyte plants’ shifting to life in water.

Biomorphs are graphic objects with very interesting shapes resembling unicellular and microbial organisms such as bacteria. They have applications in different fields like medical science, art, painting, engineering and the textile industry. In this paper, we present for the first time escape criterion results for general complex polynomials containing quadratic, cubic and higher order polynomials. We do so by using a more general iteration method also used for the first time in this field. This also generalizes some previous results. Then, biomorphs are generated using an algorithm whose pseudocode is included. A visualization of the biomorphs for certain polynomials is presented and their graphical behaviour with respect to variation of parameters is examined.

Resumen
This contribution presents the effect of two ortholog enzymes from marine sponges called silicateins on the formation of silica carbonate biomorphs of alkaline metals (Ca, Ba, Sr). In vivo, these enzymes participate in the polymerization of silica. Silicateins from Tethya aurantia and Suberitis domuncula were produced recombinantly and presented different degrees of activity, as evidenced by their ability to cleave silyl ether-like bonds in a model compound. Biomorphs are typically inorganic structures that show characteristic shapes resembling those of biological structures such as helices, leaves, flowers, disks or spheres. Irrespective of the concentration or the enzyme used, the presence of silicateins inhibited the formation of classic morphologies of biomorphs, albeit to different extents. Thus, not only the silica condensation activity of the enzyme but also its ability to bind silica compounds is implicated in the inhibition process. The largest effect was observed for the strontium and barium biomorphs, leading to the formation of spheres similar to those observed in diatoms and Radiolaria rather than the classical non-symmetrical forms. Characterization of the samples using Raman spectroscopy showed that silicatein did not affect the crystalline structure of the alkaline earth metal carbonate but did modify the crystalline habit.

Resumen
The main representatives of meadow Poaceae and Fabaceae of Poltava region are established and their ecomorphic analysis is made 93 species of meadow Poaceae have been found in meadow phytocenoses, which are grouped into 44 genera. Among the found cereals on biomorphs are dominated by perennials (73.0%), on climamorphs among them approximately the same number of cryptophytes and hemicryptophytes, consideration of hygromorphs of the family indicates the predominance of mesophytic plants (56.0%), the bulk of species by tropomorphs belongs to mesotrophic (46.0%), viewing heliomorphs of identified family members indicates their photophobia. 71 species of Fabaceae belonging to 16 genera were found in the meadows. According to biomorphs, most of the identified species are perennials (73.0%). According to ecomorphs, mesophilic, light-loving species, which love soils of medium richness (more than half of all identified species), predominate among the studied species. The consequences of studying the protein in meadow Poaceae and Fabaceae of Poltava region are given. The total protein accumulation in the species studied by us was in the range of 2.5–25.8%. The average values for families are given and specific quantitative indicators of separate genera and species are given. The division of the studied species into three groups according to the content of the indicator is proposed: with low (up to 6.9%), medium (7.0-13.0%) and high (more than 13.0%) number. The studied species were analyzed on a scale of protein content (from 0 to 20 points). According to the given score, the studied cereals are in the group of species with low and medium content, and legumes - medium and high. In the dynamics of protein content during the phases of the growing season you can see a certain trend. Maximum protein is accumulated by representatives at earlier stages of ontogenesis. Analysis of the indicator, depending on their relationship to the biomorph showed some patterns. Thus, annual species, on average, contain an indicator at the level of the second group, and perennial - all three groups. Two-year-olds most often have protein at the level of the third group. This is understandable because they need a lot of nutrients for overwintering and active flowering and fruit formation next year. Moisture conditions also affect protein accumulation. Thus, the studied xerophilous Poaceae according to our research have 9.2 ± 0.4%, mesophilic - 8.2 ± 1.2%. Proven value biomorfy to quantify protein content. It is shown that the concentration parameter affecting growing conditions, including moisture.

Resumen
In this work we report the effect of introducing pyruvic acid (PA) in the growing process of silica-carbonate biomorphs. Gas-diffusion and single-phase methods were performed, and different concentrations of pyruvic acid were tested. Moreover, influence of UV radiation on the morphogenesis of the samples was analyzed. Since PA decomposes in CO2 and other compounds under UV radiation, here we demonstrate that PA decomposition enables a source of carbonate ions to induce the precipitation of silica-carbonate biomorphs in absence of environmental CO2. We also found that high concentrations [0.5 M] of PA inhibit the formation of biomorphs, while lower concentrations [0.01 M] results in common life-like structures. However [0.1 M] of PA provokes the precipitation of carbonates of alkaline earth metals in non-usual crystalline habits, i.e., semi-spherical smoothed shapes sized between 10 and 70 µm and homogeneously growth on a glass substrate.

There is a need to develop new tough bioactive materials capable to withstand high loads when implanted in the body and with improved fixation, which led to the production of bioactive coatings on metallic substrates. A new approach, which consists of biomorphic silicon carbide (SiC) coated with bioactive glass, was recently presented. This new material joins the high mechanical strength, lightness and porosity of biomorphic SiC, and the bioactive properties of PLD glass films. In this work, a multiple evaluation in terms of biocompatibility of this new material was carried out starting from the biomorphic SiC morphology and porosity, following with the bioactivity of the coatings in simulated body fluid, and ending with a deep biocompatibility study with MG-63 cells. Different ranges of porosity and pore size were offered by the biomorphic SiC depending on the starting wood. The PLD glassy coatings had a high bioactivity in vitro and both the biomorphic SiC coated and uncoated presented high levels of biocompatibility.

Resumen
In this contribution, we describe a brief overview of the role of different light-signaling proteins in different biochemical processes (mostly in plants) along the electromagnetic spectrum. We also revise, in terms of perspectives, the applications of all these proteins to optogenetics as a new emerging field of research. In the second part, we present some case studies: First, we used two fluorescent proteins showing an optical response in the green- and red-light wavelengths both isolated from marines’ organisms, which were incorporated as light sensors into the silico-carbonate of Ca, Ba, and Sr (usually called biomorphs). The second case study consisted in incorporating phototropins from a plant (Arabidopsis thaliana) into the synthesis of biomorphs. Finally, the last part analyses the influence of these three proteins on the shape and structure in the synthesis of silico-carbonates of calcium, barium, and strontium as optical sensors, in order to detect the location of these biomolecules inside these self-assembly crystalline materials called biomorphs.

Resumen
The lack of information on structural basis where proteins are involved, as well as the biomineralization processes of different systems such as bones, diatom frustules, and eggshells, have intrigued scientists from different fields for decades. This scientific curiosity has led to the use of methodologies that help understand the mechanism involved in the formation of these complex structures. Therefore, this work focuses on the use of eggshell membranes from different species of ratites (emu and ostrich) and reptiles (two species of crocodiles) as a model to differentiate biocalcification and biosilicification by introducing calcium phosphate or silica inside the membrane fiber mantles. We performed this to obtain information about the process of eggshell formation as well as the changes that occur in the membrane during crystal formation. In order to identify and understand the early processes leading to the formation of the microstructures present in the eggshell, we decided to carry out the synthesis of silica-carbonate of calcium, barium, and strontium called biomorph in the presence of intramineral proteins. This was carried out to evaluate the influence of these proteins on the formation of specific structures. We found that the proteins on untreated membranes, present a structural growth similar to those observed in the inner part of the eggshell, while in treated membranes, the structures formed present a high similarity with those observed in the outer and intermediate part of the eggshell. Finally, a topographic and molecular analysis of the biomorphs and membranes was performed by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), Raman and Fourier-transform Infrared (FTIR) spectroscopies.

Resumen
Natural silk fibers were used as the template to synthesis biomorphic ZnO fibers. Silk fibers were first immersed into a Zn(NO3)2 solution and then sintered in air at high temperatures to produce the final ZnO fibers. Their microstructures, phases, and synthesis process were analyzed. The results show that these synthesized fibers retained the morphologies of silk faithfully. The sintering temperatures had the effect on the continuity of the biomorphic fibers. The crystallite sizes of these biomorphic ZnO are in nano scale. The fabrication process of biomorphic ceramic included the formation of ZnO and removal of their silk templates. The ZnO formed before the removal of the silk-template, so that the fibrous morphology of the silk could be retained to this ZnO. The method of using bio-template could provide a new idea for the design of oxide fiber.

Resumen
Wood compression process was innovatively introduced as a pre-treatment method to birch into the fabrication of biomorphic silicon/silicon carbide (Si/SiC) ceramic with high density. Firstly, birch blocks were compressed to the density in the range of 0.85-1.00g/cm3. Secondly, both birch blocks and compressed birch blocks were carbonized at 1200°C to get carbon templates. Lastly, carbon templates were infiltrated with liquid silicon to obtain biomorphic Si/SiC ceramics. The effect of compression process on the density and microstructure of both carbon template and ceramic was investigated. The results show that the maxium density of biomorphic Si/SiC ceramic from compressed birch is 3.01g/cm3, whereas the density of the ceramic from birch is only 2.80-2.89g/cm3. So the compression process was an effective method to increase the density of biomorphic Si/SiC ceramic.

Resumen
Biomorphs are a unique class of self-organised silica–carbonate mineral structures with elaborate shapes. This work presents first approaches to convert these inorganic architectures into organic/inorganic hybrids through silane chemistry, while maintaining the original structural complexity. Further functionality can be added by binding of metal nanoparticles or quantum dots or via local organic polymerisation at the carbonate surfaces.

Resumen
Biomorphic SnO2/C ceramic has been prepared by molding into a composite billet and carbothermal-reduction under vacuum from ramie fibers/Sn(OH)4 precursors. The phase composition and microstructure of the prepared samples were characterized. The effects of the carbonization temperature and the other factors on the crystal structure, morphology and ingredients of the prepared samples were discussed. The results showed that there is no peak corresponding to carbon. So, it is inferred that the carbon exists in amorphous form and the sintering temperature have significant effects on the microstructure of SnO2 in biomorphic SnO2/C ceramics. The prepared products at the sintering temperature between 480°C and 630°C are biomorphic SnO2/C ceramics.

Resumen
Biomorphic SiC ceramics were fabricated by infiltrating liquid silicon into woodceramics which were prepared from beech and pine impregnated with phenolic resin (PR) of different viscosity in order to reinforce the cell wall of wood. The viscosity of phenolic resin was adjusted by ethanol according to the weight ratio of PR to ethanol. The samples not impregnated with resin were compared. Effect of viscosity of phenolic resin on the dimension shrinkage, weight loss, porosity and the axial and radial flexural strength were investigated. Microstructural observation and phase identification of woodceramics and biomorphic SiC were performed by SEM and XRD, respectively. The results show that, the lower the viscosity of phenolic resin was, the higher the dimension shrinkage, weight loss and porosity of woodceramics were. Biomorphic SiC was a diphase composite consisting of major phase β-SiC and secondary phase Si. Woodceramics made from pine swelled or broke and strength of woodceramics fabricated from beech declined when higher viscosity resins were impregnated. The flexural strength of biomorphic SiC increased with increasing in viscosity of PR. The axial flexural strength was significantly higher than the radial flexural strength because of anisotropic pore microstructures.

Resumen
Biomorphic silicon carbide ceramics is very promising as a natural base material for biomedical applications due to their excellent mechanical-biochemical properties and biocompatible behaviour. This innovative material is produced by molten-Si infiltration of carbon templates obtained by controlled pyrolysis of biological precursors. The final product is a light, tough and high-strength material with predictable microstructure. In this study the possibility to produce biomorphic silicon carbide ceramics using marine precursors is demonstrated. Due to the great biodiversity offered by the marine medium, a previous selection of algae (Laminaria ochroleuca Bachelot de la Pylaie, Undaria pinnatifida (Harvey) Suringar, Saccorhiza polyschides (Lightfoot) Batters and Cystoseira baccata (Gmelin) Silva) and marine plants (Zostera marina L. and Juncus maritimus L.) was carried out, taking into account its microstructure, porosity and interconnectivity of each species. The bioceramization process was evaluated in three phases: original material analysis, pyrolysis process and reactive melt Si-infiltration. For each marine precursor, a detailed study by Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) of the natural material, the carbon preform and the final SiC biomorphic product is described. The viability to obtain biomorphic SiC ceramic material for all the selected marine precursors is discussed.

Resumen
Combining graph-based parametric design with metaheuristic solvers has to date focused solely on performance-based criteria and solving clearly defined objectives. In this article, we outline a new method for combining a parametric modelling environment with an interactive Cluster-Orientated Genetic Algorithm. In addition to performance criteria, evolutionary design exploration can be guided through choice alone, with user motivation that cannot be easily defined. As well as numeric parameters forming a genotype, the evolution of whole parametric definitions is discussed through the use of genetic programming. Visualisation techniques that enable mixing small populations for interactive evolution with large populations for performance-based optimisation are discussed, with examples from both academia and industry showing a wide range of applications.

In the present study, we present the results of the modeling of incoming information processing in a neuroprocessor that implements a biomorphic spiking neural network with numerous neurons and trainable synaptic connections between them. Physico-mathematical models of processes of encoding information into biomorphic pulses and their decoding following a neural block into a binary code were developed as well as models of the process of routing the output pulses of neurons by the logic matrix to the synapses of other neurons and the processes of associative self-learning of the memory matrix as part of the hardware spiking neural network with long-term potentiation and with the spike-timing-dependent plasticity of the memristor. The performance of individual devices of the biomorphic neuroprocessor in processing the incoming information is shown based on developed models using numerical simulation.

The author's biomorphic presentations of proteins are intended to promote the understanding of protein structure by analogy with living organisms. The understanding of a protein's structure is necessary to the understanding of its function. The analogies discussed in this paper can be used to understand the structure-function relationship; they convey the structural and functional information aesthetically. The biomorphic representation of proteins based on their topology may be used to classify proteins as well as to study their structure-function relationships.
