Resumen
Globally, the establishment of bio-banks began around 1990s when scientists felt need for collaborative researches in biomedical field. Bio-banks collect and preserve biological specimens which are provided to researchers to investigate about specific disease or treatment. In Nepal, eye bank and skin bank are only two types of bio-banks currently in existence. However, specimens collected in these bio-banks are used only for medical treatment, not for research. With this regard, there is urgent need to establish bio-banks in Nepal. In this article, we aim to provide insights on current status of bio-banking and its benefits for scientific development of Nepal. Keywords: Bio-bank; eye bank; Nepal; skin bank

Resumen
The reduction of organic content through transformation processes in the Danube aquifer along a studied area, biodegradability of Danube bank filtrate and its enhancement by ozonation have all been examined in a study carried out in order to assess amenability of Danube bank filtrate for bio-filtration. As determined during the study period Dissolved Organic Carbon (DOC) varied from 4.6–6.5 mgC/L and from 2.8–3.7 mgC/L in Danube River and Danube bank filtrate respectively. As determined 11.2% of Danube bank filtrate DOC was bio-degradable. A substantial enhancement of biodegradability has been observed after the application of Ozone dosages ranging from 0.45 to 0.9 mgO3/ mgC. It was concluded that Danube bank filtrate itself is not amenable for bio-filtration but an enhancement of its bio-degradability by ozonation could make bio-filtration a reasonable and economical option for reducing of DOC content to the levels that provide low risk of excessive disinfection by-products formation and prevent bacterial re-growth in distribution networks of cities using Danube bank filtrate as the source water.

Resumen
This paper presents an effective way to control the temperature of bio-reactors (fermenters) used in ethanol production and to reduce the volume of cooling water required per square meter of ethanol produced. This paper specifically focuses on the fermentation of cassava starch using Saccharomyces cerevisiae at 32ºC. The flow across tube banks model is employed as the cooling mechanism of the bio-reactor. Cooling water at 28°C enters a shell containing five rows of fifteen (15) bio-reactors in a square in-line arrangement and exits the shell at 31.84°C. The total working volume of all fifteen (15) bio-reactors in the bank equals 180m^3. Each bio-reactor in the bank is designed to have an effective heat transfer area to volume ratio of two (2) to enhance heat transfer. The total quantity of cooling water required per cubic meter of ethanol produced is found to be 97.833m^3. A total amount of 1.303kW is required to power anchor impellers placed in each bio-reactor to provide mixing. The rotation speed of the impeller in each bio-reactor is 0.2〖rev·s〗^(-1). A total of 3.453*10^(-6) W is required to move cooling water through the bio-reactor bank at a speed of 3.942*10^(-5) ms^(-1). An overall heat transfer coefficient of 11.345W·m-2°C-1 was found for the bio-reactor cooling system. Employing flow across tube banks model in cooling ethanol bio-reactors required significantly less amount of cooling water per cubic meter of ethanol produced compared to using internal cooling coils.

Resumen
River management implies in many situation to control the river bank stability. Bio-engineering techniques are used as an alternative to rip-rap. These techniques are not new but a renewed interest was observed during the last decade. However the design of such bank protection is still largely based an expert evaluation of each situation, and we still crudely lack a real state of the art, based on mechanistic consideration of forces exerted by the river. We present the results of preliminary flume experiments aiming to study the resistance of river bank protections using bio-engineering techniques. The final applied objectives will be to propose a framework for a good use of such technique, accounting for the river morphodynamics context.

Resumen
Bio specimen collection and storage and bio bank data have numerous ethical issues. Stakeholders' views on these ethical problems are essential because they may assist establish ethical standards for bio banking. Physicians are key stakeholders because they may contact prospective participants and become bio bank users. The aim of this research is to assess Pakistani doctors' views and knowledge regarding bio banking and willingness to donate. A cross-sectional online survey was conducted to poll Pakistani physicians’ attitudes and views regarding bio banks. Between January and April 2021.473 doctors completed the questionnaire. Participants had sufficient knowledge of bio banking. Of those, 74.2 stated that they had heard of the term "Human Genome Project," while 72.5% revealed that they were familiar with the term "bio banking." 61.5% of the participants showed their willingness to donate bio specimens. Marital status (0.001), faculty (0.001), involvement in research (0.038), blood and tissue testing in recent years (0.420) and demonstrated a significant relationship with willingness to donate. While general health status, recent hospitalization, family history of inherited diseases, incidence of chronic disease, and gender had no statistically significant associations with willingness to donate. Although65.8% agreed that bio banks should be able to exchange bio specimens with foreign research groups and only 49.5% agreed on collaboration with pharmaceutical companies. Although more than half of Pakistani doctors heard of bio banking, the presence of bio banks in Pakistan was restricted. They were concerned about marketing, widespread consent and confidentiality. There is a great gap of knowledge and awareness among stakeholders that should encompass several educational initiatives. Community conversations on the problems of marketing and the return of research findings should begin to achieve an agreement.

Resumen
In this paper, a special type of IIR filter banks; that is the bireciprocal lattice wave digital filter (BLWDF) bank, is presented to simulate scaling and wavelet functions of six-level wavelet transform. 1st order all-pass sections are utilized for the realization of such filter banks in wave lattice structures. The resulting structures are a bireciprocal lattice wave discrete wavelet filter banks (BLW-DWFBs). Implementation of these BLW-DWFBs are accomplished on Spartan-3E FPGA kit. Implementation complexity and operating frequency characteristics of such discrete wavelet 5th order filter bank is proved to be comparable to the corresponding characteristics of the lifting scheme implementation of Bio. 5/3 wavelet filter bank. On the other hand, such IIR filter banks possess superior band discriminations and perfect roll-off frequency characteristics when compared to their Bio. 5/3 wavelet FIR counterparts.

Resumen
The current study focuses on the geochemistry and facies analysis of the Upper Cretaceous carbonate rocks deposited in Wadi Feiran, West-Central Sinai, Egypt. The study area is defined by the careful petrographic and geochemical examination of four stratigraphic units, including Raha, Wata, Matulla, and Sudr formations. Ten microfacies types were recognized, listed from bottom to top; Fossiliferous-micrite, Bio-micrite, Pell-Bio-Micrite, Argillaceous Dolo-Biomicrite, Glauco- Dolo-Sparite, Glauco-Dolo-Microsparite, Dolo-Silty-Micrite, Bio- Pell-Sparite, Micrite and Foraminifera Biomicrite. The vertical distribution of these microfacies types indicates cyclic alternation between open and confined marine (bank interior deposits) deposition environments. The carbonate rocks were exposed to subaerial and submarine depositional settings diagenetically. The overflow dispersion of both main and minor components was determined by applying chemical and physicochemical parameter assessments to the selected samples. The review demonstrates that shallow sea conditions prevailed during the Upper Cretaceous.

Resumen
Learning outcomes: The paper aims to understand the process of transfer of agricultural technology, which comprises incubation of the technology business, valuation, evaluation, licensing and commercialization, to examine various dimensions of the process of technology transfer and the effectiveness of transfer object use criteria, to explore ways of sustaining incubation and commercialization through an autonomous unit responsible for technology transfer, to peruse the role of agribusiness incubators in creating an effective agri-entrepreneurship eco-system and to study the factors that promote or inhibit the sustainability of business incubators in an academic or research institution setting. Case overview/synopsis: An innovative technology for production of liquid bio-fertilizers was developed and nurtured to market levels by Anand Agricultural University (AAU), a State Agricultural University in Gujarat. The technology for production of liquid bio-fertilizers, developed during 2009-2010 to 2013-2014 was licensed to some of the state public and private sector undertakings under the World Bank-financed National Agricultural Innovation Project (NAIP) implemented through Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR). For commercializing the technologies from the University, a Business Planning and Development (BPD) Unit was set up at AAU along the lines of a technology transfer office, under the aegis of NAIP during later part of 2009. The NAIP funding from World Bank for BPD Units ceased in June 2014 with closure of the project. With funding no more available, Rajababu V. Vyas, a research scientist at the Microbiology and Bio-fertilizer Department of the University and Head of the BPD Unit, had serious concerns about the BPD unit’s sustainability, as well as sustaining the process of technology transfer from the University. Complexity academic level: Anand Agricultural University (AAU), a state-run university in Gujarat, developed and incubated a technology to produce liquid biofertilizer, licensed the technology and marketed its product through a few state-run and private fertilizer firms. The technology was developed between 2009/2010 and 2013/2014 as part of the National Agricultural Innovation Project of the Indian Council of Agricultural Research with funds from the World Bank. A unit to incubate agri-businesses, referred to as Business Planning and Development Unit (BPDU), was set up in late 2009 to expedite the process of technology transfer from AAU to agribusiness firms. Rajababu V. Vyas, a research scientist at the Microbiology and Bio-fertilizer Department of the university, was concerned about the unit’s sustainability, because funding from the World Bank had ceased from June 2014, and wondered how to sustain the transfer of technology from the laboratory to the field in the light of the data available to him. Resumen
The soil fertility was measured in four experimental plots on human-induced restoration slopes like vegetation-growing concrete spraying bio-slope (CBS) and external-soil spray seeding bio-slope ( ESS) in Yalong River Guandi Hydropower. The results showed that the soil fertility level of four repaired slopes were significantly higher than the control sample, and there was no significant difference among these experimental slopes except for the slope D (right bank CBS) which was the highest in all of slopes. It indicated that the technology of ecological slope protection can improve soil quality in the disturbed areas of Guandi Hydropower Station, Yalong River. The results of using vegetation-growing concrete base material spraying technology were better than the external-soil spray seeding technology.

Resumen
An experiment was conducted to assess the impact of flucetosulfuron, a new generation sulfonylurea herbicide, on weed seed bank dynamics of wet land paddy field. Field experiments were carried out during two consecutive seasons (Kharif 2016 and Rabi 2016-’17), to assess the bio-efficacy of flucetosulfuron in wet seeded rice which was accompanied by weed seed bank assay. Weed seed bank assay of the soil was carried out before and after the field experiments in both the seasons by the seedling emergence method. The experiment on weed seed bank was laid out in Completely Randomised Block Design (CRD) with 12 treatments replicated thrice. Flucetosulfuron @ 20, 25, and 30 g ha-1applied at 2-3, 10-12, and 18-20 days after sowing (DAS) along with two control treatments viz., hand weeding at 20 and 40 DAS and unweeded control comprised the treatments. The emerging weeds were uprooted at 14 days interval up to a period of two months; categorized as grasses, broad leaved weeds, and sedges and counted. Results revealed that non-herbicidal plots recorded significantly higher count of total emerged weeds compared to herbicide applied plots. In all the herbicide applied plots, effective reduction in weed seed bank could be obtained irrespective of the dose of the herbicide. Regarding the time of application, flucetosulfuron applied at 10-12 and 18-20 DAS recorded significantly lower weed seed bank during both the seasons, compared to its application at 2-3 DAS.

Resumen
In a Sino-German research project, a sustainable water reclamation concept was developed for different applications of municipal water reuse at the Olympic Green 2008 in Beijing, China. Results from pilot-scale experiments in Beijing and Berlin show that selective nutrient removal by adsorption onto granular ferric hydroxide (GFH) after a membrane bioreactor (MBR) can maintain a total phosphorus concentration of <0.03 μg L−1 P, thus preventing eutrophication of artificial lakes. Operation time of GFH adsorption columns can be extended by regeneration using sodium hydroxide solution. A subsequent ultrafiltration (UF) membrane after bank filtration creates an additional barrier for pathogens and allows for further urban reuse applications such as toilet flushing. Short term bank / bio-filtration prior to UF is shown to effectively remove biopolymers and reduce membrane fouling.

Resumen
Comparative evaluation and survey on adoption and profitability of existing crop production system evidences problems of higher input cost, low productivity, diminishing profitability and lower cost:benefit ratio in the field conditions than expected. To overcome these problems, a cost effective bio-formulation CSR BIO was developed using dynamic microbial consortia cultured in patented dynamic nutrient media under the World Bank funded National Agricultural Innovation Project. The bio-formulation intervened in the Barabanki district of Uttar Pradesh played an unique role in increasing income and productivity among adopters. Most of the technologies fail due to improper diffusion process and lack of adoption study to assess their performance. Therefore, the current study looked into the adoption profile of the CSR BIO, a bio growth enhancer, and assesses the relation with critical factors influencing adoption intensity using logistic regression model through survey data obtained from 2010 to 2013. Results showed an overall average adoption percentage of 68.61 % over the study period. The adoption percentage increased with the year of intervention which signified the success of the technology and got stabilized at 83.00 % in the year 2013. The major factors which have strongly influenced the adoption process were the level of training, land holding capacity and occupation of the target users. Small land holders with agriculture as major occupation who had received trainings, adopted more intensively than the others. The results of this study furthermore indicated that advancing the knowledge diffusion process of the cost effective technology would be useful in developing extension strategies for novel low cost technologies.

Resumen
Goal. To determine the technical efficiency of the novel fungicides against root rot of pumpkins in the area of the Right Bank Forest-Steppe of Ukraine. Methods. The experiments were conducted in 2016—2018 in the Right-Bank Forest-Steppe of Ukraine (Khmelnytsky region) on the following varieties: common pumpkins — Ukrainskyi bahatoplidnyi, hull-less pumpkins — Shtyriiskyi. Assessment of severity, spread of root rot, technical and farm efficiency was carried out according to generally accepted methods. To control the development of the disease, the following preparations were investigated: Maxim 480 FS, FS, Inshur perform, TK, Phytocide, s., Trichoderma blend Bio-Green Microzyme TR, EC. Results. During the study period, root rot was observed on pumpkins of both studied varieties annually. In the laboratory, it was found that the causative agents of root rot on pumpkins were fungi of the genus Fusarium Link. The development of the disease in control ranged from 11.2 to 17.6%. When biological preparations were used on the variety Ukrainskyi bahatoplidnyi, technical efficiency was at the level of 52.6—62.8%, on the variety Shtyriiskyi — 43.4—59.2%. The best effect against fusarium root rot was recorded for seed treatment with Trichoderma blend Bio-Green Microzyme TR. Pre-sowing treatment of seeds with Inshur Perform and Maxim 480 FS reduced the development of the disease by 3.6—4 times. On both varieties, biological products showed lower technical efficiency compared to chemical preparations. The use of pesticides made it possible to obtain a yield of pumpkin seeds with the use of biological products at the level of 0,431—0,435 t/ha on the variety Ukrainskyi bahatoplidnyi and 0,308—0,315 t/ha — on the variety Shtyriiskyi. When seeds were treated with chemical pesticides, the yield was 0,456—0,465 t/ha and 0,319—0,325 t/ha, respectively. That is, pre-sowing seed treatment allows to save from 4.1 to 12.9% of crop yield. Conclusions. Under conditions of the Right-Bank Forest-Steppe of Ukraine pumpkin plants are annually affected by fusarium root rot. The use of pesticides allows to save the seed yield in the range from 0.012 to 0.053 t/ha. The best technical efficiency was observed on the variants with the disinfectant Maxim 480 FS, TH with a consumption rate of 1.0 l/t and the biological product Trichoderma blend Bio-Green Microzyme TR, EC with a consumption rate of 50 ml/t.

Resumen
Numerous evolutionary algorithms have been proposed which are inspired by the amazing lives of creatures, such as animals, insects, and birds. Each inspired algorithm has its own advantages and disadvantages, and has its own way to accomplish exploration and exploitation. In this paper, a new evolutionary algorithm with novel concepts, called Wildebeests Herd Optimization (WHO), is proposed. This algorithm is inspired by the splendid life of wildebeests in Africa. Moving and migration are inseparable from wildebeests’ lives. When a wildebeest wants to choose its path during migration, it considers the best path known to itself, the location of the more mature wildebeests in the crowd, and the direction of wildebeests with high mobility. The WHO algorithm imitates these traits, and can concurrently explore and exploit the search space. For validating WHO, it is applied to optimization problems and data mining tasks. It is demonstrated that WHO outperforms other evolutionary algorithms, such as genetic algorithm (GA) and particle swarm optimization, in the assessed problems. Then, WHO is applied to the customer segmentation problem. Customer segmentation is one of the most important tasks of data mining, especially in the banking sector. In this paper, the customers of a bank with current accounts are segmented using WHO based on four aspects: profitability, cost, loyalty and credit; some of these aspects are calculated in a novel way. The results were welcome by the bank authorities.

Resumen
We found an association between the abundance of rodents in the wild and onset of type 1 diabetes (T1D) in humans. A picornavirus named Ljungan virus (LV) was subsequently isolated from wild bank voles. Both picornavirus-like particles detected by electron microscopy and LV antigen visualized by immunohistochemistry was seen in islets of Langerhans in diabetic wild bank voles. LV antigen has also been found in islets of Langerhans in a patient with recent onset of T1D and in the commonly used Bio Breeding (BB) T1D rat model. We discuss the possibility of T1D and type 2 diabetes (T2D) as parts of a single disease entity. Antiviral compounds directed against picornavirus have been found to be an effective treatment of diabetes in BB rats. We propose using the same currently available antiviral compounds in clinical trials in humans. Antiviral treatment would have the potential to be both proof of concept for involvement of a picornavirus in diabetes pathogenesis and also present a first-generation therapy.

Resumen
Solid waste management at municipalities of Nepal is one of the major issues that require a sustainable solution. The preliminary survey and review suggested that waste management practices including collection, transport and resource recovery in most of the municipalities are ineffective and almost all collected waste finally disposed to the dumping site. Taking baseline data from solid waste management in Nepal report of Asian Development Bank 2013, estimated waste projection of 2017 has been made. The projected data shows waste generation in municipalities of Nepal is about 3023 tons per day and the average per capita waste generation is 0.223 kg/person/day. On average the composition of waste is primarily decomposable about 60% and about 25% is recyclables such as plastics, papers and metals. With the help of Multi Criteria Decision Matrix (MCDM), this paper suggests that the suitable methods of waste management for Nepalese municipalities are waste to bio-energy and fertilizer production. It further proposed and discussed a holistic model of waste management for municipalities and an appropriate waste to bio-energy technology in context of Nepal.

Resumen
Results from the “Potato Ecosystem Project,” a cropping systems study in northern Maine, were used to test the hypothesis that greater reliance on organic nutrient sources and less reliance on synthetic fertilizer sources can benefit weed management efforts. ‘Atlantic’ potato was grown in a 2-yr rotation within a factorial arrangement of three pest management systems, two soil management systems, and both rotation entry points. Weed control in the conventional (CONV) pest management system relied on full rates of herbicides, whereas the biointensive (BIO) system relied exclusively on cultivation. The reduced input (RI) pest management system relied on cultivation in 1991 and 1992 and on 50% of standard herbicide rates plus cultivation from 1993 to 1995. The two soil management systems, unamended (barley/red clover rotation crop; 1× synthetic fertilizer for potato) and amended (pea/oat/hairy vetch green manure rotation crop; manure, compost, and 0.5× synthetic fertilizer for potato) contrasted practices typical for the region to those designed to achieve rapid improvements in soil quality. Midseason weed biomass in potato was dominated by common lambsquarters. In 1991 and 1992, weed biomass in potato was least in the CONV system and did not differ between the RI and BIO systems. In 1993, weeds in both RI and CONV potatoes were effectively suppressed below the level measured in the BIO system. Soil management had no effect on weed biomass from 1991 to 1993 but became an important factor affecting weeds in the BIO system in 1994 and 1995. Weed biomass was 77% lower in 1994 and 72% lower in 1995 in the amended soil management system than in the unamended system. No significant yield loss due to weeds was detected in the 1994 BIO system, but in 1995 yield loss due to weeds was 37% in the unamended system compared to 12% in the amended system. Soil management effects on weeds in the 1994 BIO pest management system carried through to the following season's germinable seed bank. Density of germinable common lambsquarters seed (0 to 10 cm soil depth) in the 1995 BIO system was 4,082 m−2in the unamended soil management system compared to 1,280 m−2in the amended soil management system. We suggest that organic amendments and green manure promote a potato crop better able to compete with weeds and that these inputs be considered as potentially important components of integrated weed management systems that have minimal reliance on herbicides.

Resumen
On-chip systems are challenging owing to the limited size of the components, such as the capacitor bank in the rectifier. With a small on-chip capacitor, the output voltage of the rectifier might ring if the circuit experiences significant changes in current. The reference circuit is the first block after the rectifier, and the entire system relies on its robustness. A fully integrated dual-voltage reference circuit for bio-implantable applications is presented. The proposed circuit utilizes nonlinear current compensation techniques that significantly decrease supply variations and reject high-supply ripples for various frequencies. The reference circuit was verified using a 0.35 µm complementary metal-oxide semiconductor (CMOS) process. Maximum PSRR values of −112 dB and −128 dB were obtained. With a supply range from 2.8 to 12 V, the proposed design achieves 0.916 and 1.5 mV/V line regulation for the positive and negative reference circuits, respectively.

Resumen
Background: Limited infrastructure is available to collect, store and transport venous blood in field epidemiological studies. Dried blood spot (DBS) is a robust potential alternative sample source for epidemiological studies & bio banking. A stable source of genomic DNA (gDNA) is required for long term storage in bio bank for its downstream applications. Our objective is to optimize the methods of gDNA extraction from stored DBS and with the aim of revealing its utility in large scale epidemiological studies. Methods: The purpose of this study was to extract the maximum amount of gDNA from DBS on Whatman 903 protein saver card. gDNA was extracted through column (Qiagen) & magnetic bead based (Invitrogen) methods. Quantification of extracted gDNA was performed with a spectrophotometer, fluorometer, and integrity analyzed by agarose gel electrophoresis. Result: Large variation was observed in quantity & purity (260/280 ratio, 1.8-2.9) of the extracted gDNA. The intact gDNA bands on the electrophoresis gel reflect the robustness of DBS for gDNA even after prolonged storage time. The extracted gDNA amount 2.16 – 24 ng/µl is sufficient for its PCR based downstream application, but unfortunately it can’t be used for whole genome sequencing or genotyping from extracted gDNA. Sequencing or genotyping can be achieved by after increasing template copy number through whole genome amplification of extracted gDNA. The obtained results create a base for future research to develop high-throughput research and extraction methods from blood samples. Conclusion: The above results reveal, DBS can be utilized as a potential and robust sample source for bio banking in field epidemiological studies.

A current and acute problem in bio-medical international research is the collection of samples for storage and exportation with open consent, with risk of violation of personal privacy. The need to count on research bio-banks, to protect the distribution of research benefits and assuring the participation of Latin American ethnic minorities take us to propose the “democratization” of bio-banks based on the Human rights structure of the region, represented by the Pact of San Jose, Costa Rica.

Parthenium hysterophorus Linn. is one of the most aggressive, invasive weeds threatening natural and agricultural ecosystems in Nepal. Leaf feeding beetle, Zygogramma bicolorata Pallister (Coleoptera: Chrysomelidae), is regarded as a potential candidate for biological control of Parthenium weed. Considering the fact effectiveness of Z. bicolorata against P. hysterophorus was evaluted in Nepal. Z. bicolorata caused 98.25 % defoliation of P. hysterophorus reducing 38.88 % plant height, 27.29 % plant width, 26.25 % root length, 12.33 % leaves, 40.58 % shoot biomass and 36.59 % root biomass in the period of 90 days. The flower production and soil seed bank were reduced by 50.22 % and 40.29 %, respectively. Z. bicolorata was an efficient bio-control agent with a significant negative effect on the vegetative and reproductive performance of the noxious weed P. hysterophorus.

Resumen
A major limitation of the white-rot fungus is its sensitivity during biodegradation of mixed matrix explosive pollutants and the scale of Kachia military shooting since 1967, Nigeria. The amplified 16S rRNA gene of each microbial isolate was processed for sequencing and characterization with Gene Bank database. Fungal species heavy metal reduction in increasing order of Aspergillus niger > Trametes versicolor > Rhizopus spp > Phanorochate chrysoporium > Penicillium spp were identified. The total explosive contents shows a significant difference for all locations in both dry and wet seasons (P<0.05) using Anova test. Microbial fungi consortium (MFC) bioremediate heavy metal significantly at 61.7% relative to isolated fungi species because of the lateral gene transfer/co-metabolism, where Trametes versicolor and Aspergillus niger act as gene mediators. MFC growth in 1% mineral salt medium munitions was significance than fungal species isolate. Deploying Myco Bio-augmentation / Phytoremediation/Biosimulation (Myco B-P-B) techniques to optimize the RDX and HMX characterized by a higher Nitrogen/Carbon ratio since fungi lack the beta-glucuronidase (GUS) gene to utilize carbon source directly. Pollutants bio-stimulation will enhances co-metabolism by MFC. Plant detoxification capabilities can be improved using fungi genes laccases and cytochrome P450 monooxygenase expressed effectively in plants using protoplast fusion

Resumen
The preservation of fertility is a clinical issue that has been emerging considerably in recent decades, as the number of patients of childbearing age who risk becoming infertile for many reasons is increasing. The cryopreservation technique of oocytes has been developed for many years and nowadays constitutes a method of safe storage with impressive efficacy and high rates of successful thawing. The storage and use for research of oocytes taken for medical or non-medical can be carried out by both public and private structures, through egg sharing, voluntary egg donation and so-called “social freezing” for autologous use. This paper focuses on the oocyte bank as an emerging cryopreservation facility, in which a collaboration between public and private and the creation of a network of these biobanks can be useful in enhancing both their implementation and their functions. Good oocyte biobank practice would require that they be collected, stored, and used according to appropriate bioethical and bio-law criteria, collected and stored according to procedures that guarantee the best preservation of their structural components and a high level of safety, connected with appropriate procedures to protect the rights and privacy of the parties involved and associated with the results of the bio-molecular investigations that will be carried out gradually.
