Texto completo1688 appears to be relatively unspectacular as far as Spener’s biography is concerned. Spener has arrived in Dresden and after having worked there for one and a half years he has somewhat settled into live at court. A large number of the letters that have been preserved are addressed to various clergy in electoral Saxony. In those letters, Spener answers questions pertaining to both personal and official matters. Issues dealt with include the appropriate implementation of catechetical instruction after it was made mandatory in 1688. Spener moved his own catechetical exercises from his private home into the chapel of the electoral prince’s widow, Magdalena Sybille. These exercises are the subject of numerous letters. The students’ collegia philobiblica, which had experienced a boom in the previous year on Saxon universities, are scarcely mentioned in the correspondence. However, Spener was in correspondence with the initiators in Leipzig Paul Anton and August Hermann Francke. Anton was now the traveling preacher for electoral prince Johann Georg (IV.), and most of his reports to the senior court preacher in Dresden pertained to the Quietists in southern Europe. Francke was now living in Hamburg. Not a single letter has been preserved between Francke and Spener from this early period, but their correspondence and the issues it dealt with is testified to by Spener’s intensive correspondence with his former aide Hermann von der Hardt, who was now Francke’s traveling companion. For the Pietism to come two subjects are crucial: In the question of the appropriate pedagogical approach, Spener had a much more progressive view than Francke encountered at the same time in Hamburg. The second question is the issue of perfectionism, based upon the exegesis of Romans 7. Overall, the events in Hamburg can be understood as a prelude to the debates surrounding Pietism, which began shortly thereafter in Leipzig. The term “Pietism” appears first in the summer of 1689, but already in 1688 a group had formed, which was singled-out by its opponents and whose members were called “Spenerians”. This observation highlights the importance of the events of 1688 as a prequel to the Pietist movement starting in 1689. Spener discusses the political situation in Europe, which was overshadowed by the war between France and Germany and the beginning of the reign of William the Orange (III) in England. Spener was interested in to what extent the German Lutheran church was being influenced by these events. Spener himself exhibits a strong apocalyptic frame of mind, which due to his “hope for better times” did not result in a position of resignation. In addition to Spener’s scholarly correspondence with theological colleagues, there is also a very philosophical letter addressed to Ehrenfried Walter von Tschirnhaus.:Inhalt Vorwort Abkürzungen und Siglen Abgekürzt zitierte Literatur und Quellen Briefe des Jahres 1688 Nr. 1 an [Hektor Gottfried Masius in Kopenhagen] 2.1.1688 Nr. 2 an [Johann Heinrich Sprögel in Quedlinburg 10.1.1688 Nr. 3 an Johann Jacob Spener in Leipzig 10.1.1688 Nr. 4 an [einen Amtsbruder] 12.1.1688 Nr. 5 an [einen Amtsbruder] 24.1.1688 Nr. 6 an [Franz Wolff in Rostock] 27.1.1688 Nr. 7 an [Justus Christoph Schomerus in Rostock] 28.1.1688 Nr. 8 an Philipp Reinhard Spener in Leipzig [Januar] 1688 Nr. 9 an Pfalzgraf Christian II. von Pfalz-Birkenfeld in Bischweiler Januar 1688 Nr. 10 an [Johann Fischer in Riga] 4.2.1688 Nr. 11 an [Nathanael Ecclitius in Frankfurt a. Texto completo-15 dB are designed, manufactured and measured. A dual-band aperture coupled stacked microstrip patch antenna operating at 1.8 GHz with 3.8% bandwidth and at 2.4 GHz with 1.6% bandwidth is designed, produced and measured for mobile phone and WLAN applications. In addition, an aperture coupled stacked microstrip patch antenna which operates at PCS frequencies in 1.7-1.95 GHz band is designed. Dual and circularly polarized stacked aperture coupled microstrip patch antennas are also investigated. A triple band dual polarized aperture coupled stacked microstrip patch antenna is designed to operate at 900 MHz, at 1.21 GHZ and at 2.15 GHz. Mutual coupling between aperture coupled stacked microstrip patch antennas are examined and compared with the coupling of aperture coupled microstrip patch antennas

Texto completoThe Very Large Array (VLA) radio telescope, located in west-central New Mexico, obtains high-resolution radio images of astronomical objects by using Fourier aperture synthesis with 27 antennas. With the addition of X-band to its receiving capabilities by 1989, and when arrayed with the Goldstone Deep Space Communications Complex (GDSCC), the VLA will double the Deep Space Network (DSN) receiving aperture in the U. S. longitude for signals from Voyager 2 at Neptune. This paper describes the VLA and the installation of the X-band system, its operation and performance for Voyager data reception, and its capabilities for other science at X-band.
Spener, Philipp Jakob. "Briefe aus der Frankfurter Zeit / Band 2: 1675–1676". Mohr Siebeck, 1996. https://slub.qucosa.de/id/qucosa%3A16926.
Texto completoThis volume contains the surviving letters from the years 1675 and 1676. In addition to the letters written by Spener, there are letters from his correspondent partners in which they express their reactions to the publication of Spener’s 'Pia Desideria' (1675). The most frequent subjects are Pia Desideria and the themes discussed in that work. These include 1) the reform of the church, 2) Spener’s controversial notions on the hope of better times for the church, which he based on 3) the biblical promise of a large-scale conversion of the Jews, 4) the announcement of the fall of the Roman Catholic Church as the 'Babel' of the Apocalypse, 5) the introduction of collegia pietatis and similar gatherings for and with theology students. Other topics dealt with in the letters include decisions pertaining to personnel, the possibility of a union between Lutherans and the Reformed, the persecuted Lutherans in Hungary and regional disputes, such as in Danzig. Also discussed in the letters are various publishing projects, including the completion of a Bible commentary which was to include Luther’s comments. There are also pastoral letters to other pastors and members of the nobility. Subjects from earlier letters are also dealt with, such as keeping the Sabbath (Sunday), church discipline and the growing specter of atheism. For the first time, the name of Jakob Böhme is mentioned, who will become a regular topic for discussion in later letters. Technical note: The text of this volume is searchable by OCR-on-the-fly.
