Texto completoWith a view of improving the performance and efficiency of the future generation of turbojet engines, and in order to comply with evolving environmental regulations concerning the various pollutants emitted by these machines, aerospace manufacturers are looking for suitable technological solutions. Among all the avenues studied by the manufacturers, increasing the rotational speed of the low-pressure turbine within the turbojet engine is envisaged to increase overall efficiency, in return for the reinforcement of complex vibratory phenomena which need to be taken into account during the design phase. In fact, the low-pressure turbine used in the LEAP generation of jet engines has the particularity of being made up of an assembly of blades whose geometry incorporates a shroud at the upper end of them. All the shrouds interlock with each other when the blades are mounted on the disc, thereby applying a static pre-load to the blades, thanks to a pre-twist angle provided for at the design stage. The function of this shroud is twofold: on the one hand, it serves to guarantee the tightness of the airfoil by limiting the fluid losses of th airflow passing through the blades, and on the other hand, it introduces frictional damping through contact between each blade fixed on the disc, thus reducing their vibration amplitude. The aim of this thesis is to reproduce the non-linear dynamic behavior of a low-pressure turbine blade on a numerical model, and to validate the results obtained using an academic experimental test bench. To this end, a bibliographical study is carried out to establish the state of the art of existing experimental test benches, their specific features, the observations made, the equipment used, etc., in order to position the academic test bench designed as part of this thesis in relation to the literature, taking into account the desired specifications. Once the design and manufacture of the test bench have been completed, the preliminary tests required for its debugging are carried out, including modal analysis of the blades and torsion tests for the calibration of strain gauges to measure the static pre-load when the blades are assembled on the test bench. Forced responses over the frequency range of the structure’s first bending mode have been achieved using step sinus excitation for different static pre-load configurations. Similarly, building the numerical model and calculating non-linear frequency responses requires an understanding and handling of specific methodologies, particularly for dealing with the non-linear forces associated with the frictional contact between the blades shrouds. An additional problem, intrinsic to the construction of the finite element model reproducing the static pre-loading by blade pre-twisting, is the non-coincidence of the meshes of the contact interfaces, necessitating firstly to constrain them to make them sufficiently regular in order to preserve the construction of node-to-node contact elements. Secondly, a method for dealing with this problem is proposed, based on a short bibliography, and taking into account the various calculation methodologies, additional frequency responses are then calculated

Texto completoDue to more and more severe regulations regarding pollutant and greenhouse gas emissions, advanced powertrain and engine management systems are developed by car manufacturers. In this context, simulation tools are taking an ever-growing importance and are involved in every stage of the development process of engines. Therefore, there is a need for practical and reliable models. Heat transfer between the working gas and the walls of the combustion chamber affect key aspects such as fuel consumption and pollutant emissions. However, heat transfer modeling is difficult because of the complexity associated with its experimental characterization. During this thesis, a specific probe capable of directly measuring heat fluxes to the combustion chamber walls of reciprocating engines has been developed. Specific measurements performed in various working conditions are combined with standard measurements in order to study the phenomena governing the heat transfer process. These results provide relevant information to compare the most common models in the literature and the different calibration methods available. Models accuracy and predictivity are assessed and modifications are proposed

Texto completoThe research work presented here and realized within the framework of the ECOMEF project - which aims to develop a harvester head more specifically designed to process and fell broad-leaved trees – focuses on the modeling of the cut-to-length logging process, and particularly on the felling and processing (delimbing and bucking) operations. Several models have been developed in order to study the transmission of the feed force to the trunk or the delimbing process. In the same time, different benches have been designed in order to carry out experimental tests that allow a better understanding of the considered phenomenons as well as the experimental characterization of the models’ parameters. Finally, a multi-body dynamic simulation has been developed, in order to study the adaptation of different kinematic architectures of articulated frames to the crooked trunks specific to broad-leaved trees. This simulation contains each analytic model and allow a global study of the phenomenon by considering the interaction between each model

Texto completoThe transport sector is subject to strict regulations aiming at limiting pollutants emissions. Biofuels have received particular attention as alternative fuel or additive to traditional fuels for remedying two issues: the depletion of fossil resources and emissions of certain pollutants. In this work we studied the impact of blending conventional fuels with synthetic or oxygenated biofuels on the emissions of non-regulated pollutants, namely carbonyl compounds (aldehydes and ketones) and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) adsorbed on soot. Firstly, the carbonyl compounds emissions were studied using an internal combustion engine. The carbonyls were collected at the exhaust of a diesel engine running with biofuel blends and analyzed using high performance liquid chromatography. Secondly, the impact of blending the conventional fuel with oxygenated biofuels on soot formation and adsorbed PAHs were studied using a flat flame burner under well stabilized conditions. This work was completed by the study of the kinetics of oxidation of three oxygenated additives in a jet-stirred reactor at atmospheric pressure, over the temperature range 530-1280 K and for different equivalence ratios (0.5-4). The concentration profiles of reactants, products and main stable intermediates were obtained by probe sampling and gas analyses including Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) and gas phase chromatography. These results were then compared to simulated species concentration profiles obtained using oxidation kinetic models available from the literature
