Resumen
The article studies the properties of complex systems that can be represented as a network of automata with special properties. These properties are used in the interests of organizing observation of the dynamics of changes (monitoring) the behavior of the state of these systems is in order to ensure reliable control over the functioning. In this case, the set of control criteria can include the results of checking the correspondence of triplets of input sequences, sequences of states and output sequences of control objects to a set of relations, generated using information about the properties of the considered automatic models of network objects and, in particular, the features of the functioning of these automatic models. Further ways of developing methods and means of identifying the features of the external behavior of automaton models of control objects, methods of constructing and using experiments with automata, as well as relations of a special kind for automata models of components of complex systems and associated combinatorial objects defined on the multigraphs of states of the corresponding automata. General approaches to the use of register-type automata models for monitoring information security of network objects of shift registers or their generalizations, which have the necessary properties, are indicated. New results on the possibilities are obtained and new approaches to the choice of characteristics of the application of the previously considered automatic models are proposed. The main attention is paid to the study of groups of automatic models of generalized non-binary shift registers of shift registers and their generalizations, which have the necessary properties. Based on these results, new classes of automata models of parameters for monitoring information security of network infrastructure objects were constructed, which include not only control-based algebraic and combinatorial relationships of the input and output sequences of the specified objects, but also allow identifying potential security threats to the controls themselves.

Resumen
Abstract Body weight (BW) is used to detect health and nutritional disorders in cattle, as well as calculate profitability of the production system based on weight gain curves. In grazing systems, measuring BW frequently implies moving animals, which is labor intense, stressful, and reduces grazing time and feed intake. All of which negatively impacts animal performance. An automated scale in the pasture can reduce labor and animal handling, while ensuring an accurate BW estimation. Our objective was to evaluate the functionality and accuracy of an automatic wireless scale system equipped with solar panels (SmartScale, C-LOCKTM), when compared to a conventional scale located at the cattle working facility. Eight multiparous beef cows were weighed in a 14-day interval for a period of 57 days with a conventional scale, while at the same time BW was measured daily with an automated scale located at the pasture in front of the water trough. This wireless system registers BW every time the animal approaches the water trough and automatically transmit it to a server via cellular network. Correlation between weighing systems was evaluated through a linear regression (R Core Team, 2019), where the adjusted R2 value was 0.99, determining an excellent linear relationship between values obtained by the conventional scale and values obtained by the automated scale. In addition, the automated scale registered the time of day, time spent in the scale, and number of daily visits. The probability to find an animal at the scale varies between 15% to 20% during daylight, decreasing under 9% during the night, with 2.56±1.50 average number of visits per day, where animals spend in average 2.94±1.84 minutes. In conclusion, the automated scale has the ability to measure BW with great precision and has potential to be used as a complimentary instrument to evaluate animal behavior in grazing systems.

Resumen
Timed and register automata are well-known models of computation over timed and data words, respectively. The former has clocks that allow to test the lapse of time between two events, whilst the latter includes registers that can store data values for later comparison. Although these two models behave differently in appearance, several decision problems have the same (un)decidability and complexity results for both models. As a prominent example, emptiness is decidable for alternating automata with one clock or register, both with non-primitive recursive complexity. This is not by chance. This work confirms that there is indeed a tight relationship between the two models. We show that a run of a timed automaton can be simulated by a register automaton over ordered data domain, and conversely that a run of a register automaton can be simulated by a timed automaton. These are exponential time reductions hold both in the finite and infinite words settings. Our results allow to transfer decidability results back and forth between these two kinds of models, as well complexity results modulo an exponential time reduction. We justify the usefulness of these reductions by obtaining new results on register automata.

ObjectivesTo evaluate the feasibility and reliability of hand-held ultrasound (HUD) examinations with real-time automatic decision-making software for ejection fraction (autoEF) and mitral annular plane systolic excursion (autoMAPSE) by novices (general practitioners), intermediate users (registered cardiac nurses) and expert users (cardiologists), respectively, compared to reference echocardiography by cardiologists in an outpatient cohort with suspected heart failure (HF).DesignFeasibility study of a diagnostic test.Setting and participants166 patients with suspected HF underwent HUD examinations with autoEF and autoMAPSE measurements by five novices, three intermediate-skilled users and five experts. HUD results were compared with a reference echocardiography by experts. A blinded cardiologist scored all HUD recordings with automatic measurements as (1) discard, (2) accept, but adjust the measurement or (3) accept the measurement as it is.Primary outcome measureThe feasibility of automatic decision-making software for quantification of left ventricular function.ResultsThe users were able to run autoEF and autoMAPSE in most patients. The feasibility for obtaining accepted images (score of ≥2) with automatic measurements ranged from 50% to 91%. The feasibility was lowest for novices and highest for experts for both autoEF and autoMAPSE (p≤0.001). Large coefficients of variation and wide coefficients of repeatability indicate moderate agreement. The corresponding intraclass correlations (ICC) were moderate to good (ICC 0.51–0.85) for intra-rater and poor (ICC 0.35–0.51) for inter-rater analyses. The findings of modest to poor agreement and reliability were not explained by the experience of the users alone.ConclusionNovices, intermediate and expert users were able to record four-chamber views for automatic assessment of autoEF and autoMAPSE using HUD devices. The modest feasibility, agreement and reliability suggest this should not be implemented into clinical practice without further refinement and clinical evaluation.Trial registration numberNCT03547076.

Digital Subtraction Angiography (DSA) can be used for diagnosing the pathologies of vascular system including systemic vascular disease, coronary heart disease, arrhythmia, valvular disease and congenital heart disease. Previous studies have provided some image enhancement algorithms for DSA images. However, these studies are not suitable for automated processes in huge amounts of data. Furthermore, few algorithms solved the problems of image contrast corruption after artifact removal. In this paper, we propose a fully automatic method for cerebrovascular DSA sequence images artifact removal based on rigid registration and guided filter. The guided filtering method is applied to fuse the original DSA image and registered DSA image, the results of which preserve clear vessel boundary from the original DSA image and remove the artifacts by the registered procedure. The experimental evaluation with 40 DSA sequence images shows that the proposed method increases the contrast index by 24.1% for improving the quality of DSA images compared with other image enhancement methods, and can be implemented as a fully automatic procedure.

Resumen
Traditionally, educational institutions, such as Government and Public High Schools, have relied on manual procedures to manage learners' Permanent Records and Report Cards. These manual processes involve cumbersome paperwork, extensive data entry, and prolonged turnaround times for requests and issuances. However, given the evolving educational landscape and the growing demand for efficiency and accuracy, there is an urgent need to modernize these procedures. Recognizing this necessity, the Department of Education (DepEd) issued DepEd Order (DO) No. 54 s.2016, establishing standardized procedures and guidelines for requesting and issuing learners' Permanent Records and Report Cards across all public schools nationwide. This study, known as Streamlining School Registration: An Innovative Automated System for Registrars, aimed to enhance and streamline registrar processes specifically within Bagonbon National High School through automation and integration. The approach involved software development, stakeholder consultations, and usability testing. The outcomes demonstrated significant time savings, reduced errors, and increased user satisfaction. The implications suggest improved efficiency in school administration, with plans focusing on scalability and adaptability to meet the specific needs of the educational setting.

Resumen
Image registration is an important preprocessing step prior to detecting changes using multi-temporal image data, which is increasingly accomplished using automated methods. In high spatial resolution imagery, shadows represent a major source of illumination variation, which can reduce the performance of automated registration routines. This study evaluates the statistical relationship between shadow presence and image registration accuracy, and whether masking and normalizing shadows leads to improved automatic registration results. Eighty-eight bitemporal aerial image pairs were co-registered using software called Scale Invariant Features Transform (<small>SIFT</small>) and Random Sample Consensus (<small>RANSAC</small>) Alignment (<small>SARA</small>). Co-registration accuracy was assessed at different levels of shadow coverage and shadow movement within the images. The primary outcomes of this study are (1) the amount of shadow in a multi-temporal image pair is correlated with the accuracy/success of automatic co-registration; (2) masking out shadows prior to match point select does not improve the success of image-to-image co-registration; and (3) normalizing or brightening shadows can help match point routines find more match points and therefore improve performance of automatic co-registration. Normalizing shadows via a standard linear correction provided the most reliable co-registration results in image pairs containing substantial amounts of relative shadow movement, but had minimal effect for pairs with stationary shadows.

Resumen
Multiplicative and additive noises are often introduced in image signals during the image acquisition process and result into degradation of image features. The work done by Perona and Malik in 1990 and its modified versions revolutionized the way through which noises or speckles are removed. The Perona-Malik model requires tuning of the regularization parameter to control and prevent staircase artifacts in restored images. The current manual tuning is a challenging and time consuming practice when a long queue of images is registered for processing. Attempt to automate the regularization parameter appeared in Perona-Malik model with self-adjusting shape-defining constant. Although both multiplicative and additive noise based automated regularizations were presented, the paper stayed silent on matters concerning the automation method that fits with speckle reduction. This paper therefore, presents a comparative analysis of additive and multiplicative noise based automated regularizations. Simulation results and paired samples T-tests reveal that the multiplicative noise based automation outperforms the additive noise based automation for small speckle variances. However, the two automation methods do not significantly differ when large speckle variances are assumed.

Resumen
Uncontrolled hemorrhage remains a leading cause of death in both emergency and military medicine. Tourniquets are essential to stopping hemorrhage in these scenarios, but they suffer from subjective, inconsistent application. Here, we demonstrate how tourniquet application can be automated using sensors and computer algorithms. The auto-tourniquet self-tightens until blood pressure oscillations are no longer registered by the pressure sensor connected to the pneumatic pressure cuff. The auto-tourniquet’s performance in stopping the bleed was comparable to manual tourniquet application, but the time required to fully occlude the bleed was longer. Application of the tourniquet was significantly smoother, and less variable, for the automatic tourniquet compared to manual tourniquet application. This proof-of-concept study highlights how automated tourniquets can be integrated with sensors to provide a much more consistent application and use compared to manual application, even in controlled, low stress testing conditions. Future work will investigate different sensors and tourniquets to improve the application time and repeatability.

Resumen
The aim of this study was to investigate eighth-grade students’ assessment literacy and writing skills in English as a foreign language using an AI-based automated essay assessment tool (EAT). Data were gathered from a design-based research initiative where the EAT was designed, developed, and tested in naturalistic school settings. Fifty-six eighth-grade students wrote individual essays, for which they received automatic feedback. The feedback was discussed with their teachers and peers. Both the writing process and teacher and peer interactions were video recorded. The video data were analyzed using an interaction analysis. The improvements made on the essay based on the feedback logs registered by the EAT for each student’s writing trajectory and the different versions of the essay were examined using frequency analyses. The findings demonstrate that automated essay assessment might be useful for fostering students’ writing skills if teachers help students get started, identify errors, and share interpretations.

Resumen
AbstractAimAlthough manual adjustment of automatic cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) matching may improve the target coverage in certain points of interest, concerns exist that this may lead to dosimetric uncertainties which would negate the theoretical benefit of this approach. The objective of this study is to evaluate the dosimetric impact of manual adjustments made after automatic bony registration on CBCT in prostate patients.MethodsA total of 50 CBCT datasets of ten high-risk prostate cancer patients were randomly chosen. Each CBCT dataset was registered three times. Method (A): Automatic registration, Method (M1): Manual adjustment carried out by two experienced radiation therapists, Method (M2): Manual adjustment carried out by different radiation therapists with varying levels of experience. The clinical target volume (CTV), planning target volume (PTV), the bladder and the rectum were subsequently contoured on each CBCT dataset by a radiation oncologist blinded to the registration methods. The absolute difference of various dosimetric parameters were then analysed and compared with the original planning doses. A comparison of the three matching methods employed was also carried out.ResultsThere was a statistically significant difference in the magnitude of move taken in the inferior superior direction between M1 and M2 method. There were no significant differences observed in any of the dosimetric parameters examined in relation to the rectum, bladder or CTV. The only significant difference observed was the volume of PTV covered by the prescription isodose (95%) which was statistically significant lower in method A compared with both M1 and M2. There was no difference observed between M1 and M2 methods. The mean duration of the automated registration and subsequent analysis was 64 seconds compared with 91 seconds for automated registrations which included the additional manual adjustment.FindingsCBCT-based manual adjustments of automated bony-based registrations during the image-guided radiotherapy verification of prostate cancer patients can improve PTV coverage without impacting negatively on the doses received by the organs at risk. This strategy is associated with a small increase in overall treatment time.

e13073 Background: Incorrect assumptions and poor feasibility are often cited as the major cause of study delay and outcome resolution. Trial placement and recruitment can be optimized by monitoring and regular assessment of trial registries. However, just a snapshot analysis does not take into account retrospective editing of records. This paper evaluates the effectiveness of a robotic, semantic analysis of registered oncology trials to assess individual changes in trial records over time. Methods: Evaluating individual trial records from 2008 to 2012 with state-of-the art natural language processing and semantic linking of data fields within clinical trial registries and literature databases to add increased resolution to erroneous or inadequate registry fields. Results: Substantial modifications are made to registration records over the life cycle of a clinical trial. Quantifiable fields as recruitment, site numbers and end dates all deviate significantly from the study roll-out. Analysis of oncology trials recruiting over 200 patients between 2008 and 2012 shows two thirds of trials deviate from the initial record. Most frequently study end date is delayed (about 50% of all trials) or enrollment targets are amended (at least 25%). Over all oncology indications, enrollment increases are twice more frequent as decreases. However, there are notable exceptions such as lung cancer, where enrollment is frequently decreased. A differential analysis of countries and sites in commercial oncology phase III trials over the period revealed a marked shift of research to sites in France, Spain, the UK and China. However, when sites were added to ongoing trials this general trend was not entirely followed as Poland, Japan, Belgium, Argentina and Switzerland were frequently chosen as additional countries above the normal distribution, suggesting these are preferred countries for trial “rescue”. Conclusions: This paper demonstrates the effectiveness of automated semantic web-mining to identify incorrect clinical trial assumptions and subsequent remediation.

Resumen
For central cancer registries to become a more significant public health resource, they must evolve to capture more timely, accurate, and extensive data. Key stakeholders have called for a faster time to deliver work products, data extensions such as social determinants of health, and more relevant information for cancer control programs at the local level. The proposed model consists of near real-time reporting stages to replace the current time and labor-intensive efforts to populate a complete cancer case abstract on the basis of the 12- and 24-month data submission timelines. The first stage collects a cancer diagnosis minimum data set sufficient to describe population incidence and prevalence, which is then followed by a second stage capturing subsequent case updates and treatment data. A third stage procures targeted information in response to identified research projects' needs. The model also provides for further supplemental reports as may be defined to gather additional data. All stages leverage electronic health records' widespread development and the many emerging standards for data content, including national policies related to healthcare and technical standards for interoperability, such as the Fast Healthcare Interoperability Resources specifications to automate and accelerate reporting to central cancer registries. The emergence of application programming interfaces that allow for more interoperability among systems would be leveraged, leading to more efficient information sharing. Adopting this model will expedite cancer data availability to improve cancer control while supporting data integrity and flexibility in data items. It presents a long-term and feasible solution that addresses the extensive burden and unsustainable manual data collection requirements placed on Certified Tumor Registrars at disease reporting entities nationally.

Resumen
The article deals with issues related to the description of polysemic units for supervised automatic translation of texts from French to Polish based on the object-oriented method by W. Banyś (AOO). Applying to the description additional tools allowing for the disambiguation — frames, scripts and register analysis — the author focuses on presenting the complexity of the description of lexical units. It should be stressed that the decision to assign meanings of such words one or another equivalents in the target language is determined by the criterion of preference. Some of the meanings of the word are easy to describe in such a way that the program can make a correct translation into the target language with a high degree of probability. However, there are often such meanings whose description is much more complex. The closer the meanings of the disambiguated words in the original and target language and the more similar the communication situation in which they are used, the more difficult it is to clearly indicate the boundaries between the meanings. In such cases, there is a much greater range of preferential character of the translation, which we have to adopt The French noun conjunction (f), chosen for analysis, reflects this phenomenon very well.

Resumen
This paper details the Metamorphosis Shelter, an unprecedented record of the archeological wealth of Paraná. Located in the municipality of Piraí do Sul, in the Campos Gerais region of Paraná, this archaeological site surprises not only by the number of panels and paintings but also by the good state of conservation of some groups and by the diversity of representations and styles used. All the panels with rock paintings were photo registered and digital decals were made from the treatment of the filtered images on DStretch software using the correlation matrix technique in three phases image editing program - automatic, semi-automatic, and manual. The rock panels were mapped and geospatialized by speleological topography based on the Union Internationale de Spéléologie (UIS) method of grading and speleometric conventions. Thirty-two panels were documented, amounting to 887 representations ranging from zoomorphic, anthropomorphic, and geometric figures, built structures, enigmatic forms, and vestiges. Although the site is reasonably well preserved, urgent actions are needed for the effective protection of this site to avoid degradation of the archaeological content by burning, free circulation of cattle, vegetation cover, and uncontrolled visitation.

Resumen
In this paper, we use corpus-based, multi-dimensional analysis ( Biber, 1988 ) to investigate the structural and functional linguistic variation in online language represented by blogs, micro-blogs, workplace e-mails, discussion posts and reader comments, and online newspaper and opinion columns. The primary goal of this study is to identify the statistically co-occurring features of online language and compare their distributions across web registers. The data used in our analysis came from an exploratory corpus of online texts (containing approximately 16,501,785 words) collected from various public domains from 2006 to the present. A combined automated and manual collection of texts was conducted across registers and the resulting corpus was grammatically tagged using the Biber tagger. Results show that the four primary functional dimensions of web registers are: (1) Personal Narrative Focus versus Descriptive, Informational Production; (2) Involved, Interactive Discourse; (3) Complex Statement of Opinion; and (4) Past versus Present Orientation.

Resumen
The identification of ships plays a crucial role in security and managing vessel traffic for ports and onshore facilities. Existing video monitoring systems help visually identify a vessel where other systems are not present or sufficient. Readable vessel plates and hull inscriptions of detected ships in the video stream allow using text location and recognition methods to obtain ships’ identification names or numbers. The obtained information can be then matched with available ship registers. The automation of the process has met many challenges related to the often-low quality of available video streams, heterogeneous regulations on the marking of ships, and the specifics of natural scene text recognition, such as quickly alternating imaging conditions or the interference of the background. The main contribution of this research is a method that can identify any type of vessel in an image that has visible inscriptions (name, registration number) placed on the hull and must be registered in a public registry. The proposed method works with low-quality images with inscriptions placed under different angles and different, readable sizes. Our method recognised 91% of vessels from our test dataset. Obtained identification times have not exceeded 1s. The quality and efficiency of the proposed solution indicate that it is suitable for practical implementation in onshore monitoring systems.

Resumen
Introduction: The innovative implementation of a Hospital-based cancer registry (HBCR) at the Arturo López Pérez Oncology Institute (FALP), showcasing the transition from a manual data extraction model to a semi-automation of the process. The purpose of this publication is to compare both methodologies by assessing their efficiency and accuracy. Methods: The analysis was conducted by comparing the complete dataset of the FALP HBCR from 2017 to 2021. The efficiency variable is analyzed, taking into account the total execution time of the registration process, and the precision variable was measured through the internal data consistency method using the IARCcrg Tools Software. Results: In terms of efficiency, the analysis reveals that in 2017, employing a manual approach without automation, it was necessary to analyze 13,061 cases over 144 weeks with an average of 4 registrars to achieve a total of 3,211 cases fully registered. In contrast, over the subsequent 4 years (2018 to 2021), with varying degrees of automation, 65,088 cases were analyzed within 115 weeks, employing an average of 8 registrars, resulting in 13,537 fully registered. This method demonstrated to be 3 times more efficient. Regarding precision, the manual approach exhibited a 5% error rate in registered cases, whereas the automated approach showed a 0.6% error rate during the 2018-2021 period. Conclusion: The obtained results highlight the significant impact of semi-automating the tumor registration process through the utilization of tools for data capture and processing, achieving a threefold increase in efficiency and reducing errors to 0.6%.

Resumen
Objective: The optimal method for delineation of dominant intraprostatic lesions (DIL) for targeted radiotherapy dose escalation is unclear. This study evaluated interobserver and intermodality variability of delineations on biparametric MRI (bpMRI), consisting of T2 weighted (T2W) and diffusion-weighted (DWI) sequences, and 68Ga-PSMA-PET/CT; and compared manually delineated GTV contours with semi-automated segmentations based on quantitative thresholding of intraprostatic apparent diffusion coefficient (ADC) and standardised uptake values (SUV). Methods: 16 patients who had bpMRI and PSMA-PET scanning performed prior to any treatment were eligible for inclusion. Four observers (two radiation oncologists, two radiologists) manually delineated the DIL on: (1) bpMRI (GTVMRI), (2) PSMA-PET (GTVPSMA) and (3) co-registered bpMRI/PSMA-PET (GTVFused) in separate sittings. Interobserver, intermodality and semi-automated comparisons were evaluated against consensus Simultaneous Truth and Performance Level Estimation (STAPLE) volumes, created from the relevant manual delineations of all observers with equal weighting. Comparisons included the Dice Similarity Coefficient (DSC), mean distance to agreement (MDA) and other metrics. Results: Interobserver agreement was significantly higher (p < 0.05) for GTVPSMA (DSC: 0.822, MDA: 1.12 mm) and GTVFused (DSC: 0.787, MDA: 1.34 mm) than for GTVMRI (DSC: 0.705, MDA 2.44 mm). Intermodality agreement between GTVMRI and GTVPSMA was low (DSC: 0.440, MDA: 4.64 mm). Agreement between semi-automated volumes and consensus GTV was low for MRI (DSC: 0.370, MDA: 8.16 mm) and significantly higher for PSMA-PET (0.571, MDA: 4.45 mm, p < 0.05). Conclusion: 68Ga-PSMA-PET appears to improve interobserver consistency of DIL localisation vs bpMRI and may be more viable for simple quantitative delineation approaches; however, more sophisticated approaches to semi-automatic delineation factoring for patient- and disease-related heterogeneity are likely required. Advances in knowledge: This is the first study to evaluate the interobserver variability of prostate GTV delineations with co-registered bpMRI and 68Ga-PSMA-PET.

Resumen
Aim/Purpose: The aims of this study were to investigate the feasibility of automatic assessment of programming tasks and to compare manual assessment with automatic assessment in terms of the effect of the different assessment methods on the marks of the students. Background: Manual assessment of programs written by students can be tedious. The assistance of automatic assessment methods might possibly assist in reducing the assessment burden, but there may be drawbacks diminishing the benefits of applying automatic assessment. The paper reports on the experience of a lecturer trying to introduce automated grading. Students’ solutions to a practical Java programming test were assessed both manually and automatically and the lecturer tied the experience to the unified theory of acceptance and use of technology (UTAUT). Methodology: The participants were 226 first-year students registered for a Java programming course. Of the tests the participants submitted, 214 were assessed both manually and automatically. Various statistical methods were used to compare the manual assessment of student’s solutions with the automatic assessment of the same solutions. A detailed investigation of reasons for differences was also carried out. A further data collection method was the lecturer’s reflection on the feasibility of automatic assessment of programming tasks based on the UTAUT. Contribution: This study enhances the knowledge regarding benefits and drawbacks of automatic assessment of students’ programming tasks. The research contributes to the UTAUT by applying it in a context where it has hardly been used. Furthermore, the study is a confirmation of previous work stating that automatic assessment may be less reliable for students with lower marks, but more trustworthy for the high achieving students. Findings: An automatic assessment tool verifying functional correctness might be feasible for assessment of programs written during practical lab sessions but could be less useful for practical tests and exams where functional, conceptual and structural correctness should be evaluated. In addition, the researchers found that automatic assessment seemed to be more suitable for assessing high achieving students. Recommendations for Practitioners: This paper makes it clear that lecturers should know what assessment goals they want to achieve. The appropriate method of assessment should be chosen wisely. In addition, practitioners should be aware of the drawbacks of automatic assessment before choosing it. Recommendation for Researchers: This work serves as an example of how researchers can apply the UTAUT theory when conducting qualitative research in different contexts. Impact on Society: The study would be of interest to lecturers considering automated assessment. The two assessments used in the study are typical of the way grading takes place in practice and may help lecturers understand what could happen if they switch from manual to automatic assessment. Future Research: Investigate the feasibility of automatic assessment of students’ programming tasks in a practical lab environment while accounting for structural, functional and conceptual assessment goals.

Resumen
Historical document analysis systems gain importance with the increasing efforts in the digitalization of archives. Page segmentation and layout analysis are crucial steps for such systems. Errors in these steps will affect the outcome of handwritten text recognition and Optical Character Recognition (OCR) methods, which increase the importance of the page segmentation and layout analysis. Degradation of documents, digitization errors, and varying layout styles are the issues that complicate the segmentation of historical documents. The properties of Arabic scripts such as connected letters, ligatures, diacritics, and different writing styles make it even more challenging to process Arabic script historical documents. In this study, we developed an automatic system for counting registered individuals and assigning them to populated places by using a CNN-based architecture. To evaluate the performance of our system, we created a labeled dataset of registers obtained from the first wave of population registers of the Ottoman Empire held between the 1840s and 1860s. We achieved promising results for classifying different types of objects and counting the individuals and assigning them to populated places.

Resumen
We present oPESA, an online examination management system for exam-hall seating arrangement. oPESA is a platform built on PHP, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, jQuery and SQL. It is an open platform which can be accessed only by registered users, i.e., professors and students. Professors provide as input course details like title, examination date and room; additional input, like predetermined lists of students or list of constraints regarding the seating plan, can also be given. Students simply register for course examinations by providing their student ID as input. Whenever a student registers for an examination, oPESA immediately responds by automatically assigning an exam-hall seat to the student. Seat assignment is performed by an unbiased algorithm ensuring randomness and fairness. Results appear online but can also be downloaded and saved locally in .xls format. oPESA follows a responsive web design which allows it to automatically resize, hide, shrink or enlarge in order to look good on all devices (desktop computers, tablets, smartphones). oPESA suggests a very useful management tool for modern - highly-populated - higher education institutes which significantly facilitates the examination management process offering clarity and efficiency. Furthermore, oPESA could be also used for more general seat allocation purposes in the context of scientific, social and cultural events.

To be able to extend the chance to get profit in the plantation business subsidence prevention efforts are needed. Setting water level and the prevention of excessive drainage is one of the efforts to reduce the rate of subsidence of the peat. This study is based on literature review by collecting information from various sources and then comparing and analyzing it so that information is obtained on a comprehensive subject matter. Literature review include: monitoring parameters, types of equipment for monitoring, pattern placement monitoring equipment, the range and the frequency of monitoring. From the study concluded that the water level necessary to measure on land and channels using dipwell and staff gauges. Observations were made with a combination of automated recording device and manual recording. Both are quite accurate, but the use of automatic registers in remote locations saves time, and if an automatic device is installed in an area that has the potential to have large water level fluctuations and runs quickly, it will provide more accurate data. Observations on dams for water level control are installed at every 20 cm drop in hidraulic head.

Resumen
Smart agriculture management systems with real-time control of plant health and vegetation are recognized as one of the crucial technologies determining agriculture development, playing a fundamental role in reducing yield losses and improving product quality. The earliest plant responses to various adverse factors are propagating stress signals, including electrical ones, and the changes in physiological processes induced by them. Among the latter, photosynthesis is of particular interest due to its key role in the production process. Of practical importance, photosynthesis activity can be registered not only in contact mode but by remote sensing using optical methods. The aim of the present work was to develop the approach to automatic determination of the main parameters of electrical signals and changes in photosynthesis activity and transpiration using continuous wavelet transform (CWT). Applying CWT based on derivatives of the Gaussian function allows accurate determination of the parameters of electrical signals as well as induced physiological responses. Moreover, CWT was applied for spatio-temporal mapping of the photosynthesis response to stress factors in pea leaf. The offered approach allowed automatic identification of the response start time in every pixel and visualization of the change propagation front. The results indicate high potential of CWT for automatic assessment of plants stress, including monitoring of plant health in large-scale agricultural lands and automated fields.

Resumen
The problem of cardiac arrest, particularly out-of-hospital cardiac arrest (OHCA), is the subject of continuous research. The aim of this study was to analyze the use of an automated external defibrillator (AED) during the resuscitation of an adult in public places in Poland between 2015 and 2020. A retrospective analysis of the selected documentation obtained from AED distributors, the medical records obtained from the emergency call center, and the emergency medical teams was conducted. During the analysis period, there were 100 cases of recorded and documented use of AEDs in OHCAs in public places. In 70% of the cases, defibrillation was performed with an AED. This result could be higher, but the study’s methodology and limited access to data only allowed for this result. In Poland, there are no legal acts on the registration of automatic external defibrillators and their implementation. Appropriate registries should be introduced nationwide as soon as possible. Due to the inadequacy of the medical records of the emergency medical teams to record the use of automated external defibrillators by a bystander to an incident, changes to these documents should be pursued. Based on such a small cohort, it is not possible to conclude that the return of spontaneous blood circulation is correlated with the use of AEDs and public access to defibrillation PADs.

Resumen
We introduce finite-state registered automata (FSRAs), a new computational device within the framework of finite-state technology, specifically tailored for implementing non-concatenative morphological processes. This model extends and augments existing finite-state techniques, which are presently not optimized for describing this kind of phenomena. We first define the model and discuss its mathematical and computational properties. Then, we provide an extended regular language whose expressions denote FSRAs. Finally, we exemplify the utility of the model by providing several examples of complex morphological and phonological phenomena, which are elegantly implemented with FSRAs.

Resumen
This article describes a Swedish case study with a focus on how to enhance journalists’ professional autonomy, local news coverage and local democracy with the help of an automated search tool. The aim was to involve journalists in the development project using the theory of participatory action research and tailor a search tool to their specific needs to search for news stories in documents from municipalities. We conclude that user-centred design is a viable methodology when developing a new tool, but not necessarily when it comes to implementing the tool in journalists’ everyday practice, as the implementation is dependent on other factors connected to management and organizational structures. It became clear that the journalists were optimistic about the automated search tool as long as it made their work more efficient in terms of time and money and offered better possibilities for independent news discovery. We also noticed that some of the journalists’ professional knowledge about a certain geographical area or municipality became subordinate to the knowledge of how to best use available search tools.

Resumen
The article highlights the approaches to automatic abstracting the articles. When publishing articles on social networks, the editors of news portals need to create a short abstract of each article spending a minimum of time. Prompt and simultaneous placement of the publications on all registered resources is facilitated by automatic generation of leads. There is proposed to apply the artificial intelligence algorithms trained on corpora of the Russian texts. There are three approaches to text abstracting for the automated formation of article leads: extractive, abstract, and combined. There is carried out comparative analysis of the methods of extractive and abstract approaches in the frames of solving the problem by using neural network models of machine learning. Different stages of extractive abstracting are analyzed using both simple and more complex methods of LexRank, TextRank and on top of Deep Learning. The compared abstract models were selected as the most suitable ones for abstracting the news articles on top of the BERT model. More complex generating texts process the data in parallel, which speeds up processing, but requires training on large corpora of news documents. When using the abstract models Pointer General Network and MBART the information processing time is reduced and work efficiency increases.

Resumen
Abstract Volumetric measurements of whole tumor and its components on MRI scans, facilitated by automatic segmentation tools, are essential to reduce inter-observer variability in monitoring tumor progression and response assessment for pediatric brain tumors. Here, we present a fully automatic segmentation model based on deep learning that reliably delineates the tumor components recommended by the Response Assessment in Pediatric Neuro-Oncology (RAPNO) working group for evaluation of treatment response. Multi-parametric MRI (mpMRI) scans (T1-pre, T1-post, T2, and T2-FLAIR), acquired on multiple MRI scanners with different field strengths and vendors, for a cohort of 218 pediatric patients with a variety of histologically confirmed brain tumor subtypes were collected. The mpMRI scans were co-registered and manually segmented by experienced neuroradiologists in consensus to identify the tumor subregions including the enhancing tumor (ET), non-enhancing tumor (NET), cystic components (CC), and peritumoral edema (ED) regions. A convolutional neural network model based on DeepMedic architecture was trained using mpMRI scans as the inputs for segmentation of the whole tumor and subregions. The trained model showed excellent performance in segmentation of the whole tumor, as suggested by median dice of 0.90/0.85 for validation (n = 44)/independent test (n = 22) sets. ET and non-enhancing components (union of NET, CC, and ED) were segmented with median dice scores of 0.78/0.84 and 0.76/0.74 for validation/test sets, respectively. The automated and manual segmentations demonstrated strong agreement in estimating VASARI (Visually AcceSAble Rembrandt Images) MRI features with Pearson’s correlation coefficient R &gt; 0.75 (p &lt; 0.0001) for ET, NET, CC, and ED components. Our proposed automated segmentation method developed based on MRI scans acquired with different protocols, equipment, and from a variety of brain tumor subtypes, shows potential application for reliable and generalizable volumetric measurements which can be used for treatment response assessment in clinical trials.

Resumen
Background: Automated Collision Notification (ACN) systems reduce emergency response time to a vehicular crash by immediately alerting a Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP) of the collision and its details. Methods: An operational field test was performed to evaluate the effectiveness and reliability of the ACN system: a total of 874 vehicles were equipped with ACN systems and, for a period of 29 months, all collisions involving these vehicles were included in a study of the automatic notification time. Fifteen collisions of ACN-equipped vehicles registered with a PSAP. Both the time for the ACN notification to be received and the time for a traditional method of notification to be received were recorded for each crash. Results: The ACN notified a PSAP of a collision in an average time of 74.2 seconds and between 79.9 and 456.1 seconds sooner than a traditional notification method (paired mean difference 95 percent confidence interval). Conclusion: The ACN system significantly improves emergency notification time to a motor vehicle crash.

Resumen
Historical manuscripts and archival documentation are handwritten texts which are the backbone sources for historical inquiry. Recent developments in the digital humanities field and the need for extracting information from the historical documents have fastened the digitization processes. Cutting edge machine learning methods are applied to extract meaning from these documents. Page segmentation (layout analysis), keyword, number and symbol spotting, handwritten text recognition algorithms are tested on historical documents. For most of the languages, these techniques are widely studied and high performance techniques are developed. However, the properties of Arabic scripts (i.e., diacritics, varying script styles, diacritics, and ligatures) create additional problems for these algorithms and, therefore, the number of research is limited. In this research, we first automatically spotted the Arabic numerals from the very first series of population registers of the Ottoman Empire conducted in the mid-nineteenth century and recognized these numbers. They are important because they held information about the number of households, registered individuals and ages of individuals. We applied a red color filter to separate numerals from the document by taking advantage of the structure of the studied registers (numerals are written in red). We first used a CNN-based segmentation method for spotting these numerals. In the second part, we annotated a local Arabic handwritten digit dataset from the spotted numerals by selecting uni-digit ones and tested the Deep Transfer Learning method from large open Arabic handwritten digit datasets for digit recognition. We achieved promising results for recognizing digits in these historical documents.

Resumen
Automated victim notification is often touted as an effective and efficient means for providing victims timely and accurate information of their offenders’ court events and status changes at reduced burden to the criminal justice system. Today, 47 states, the District of Columbia, and Puerto Rico have some form of automated notification system. Researchers surveyed 1,246 service providers and 723 victims to examine their awareness and use of, satisfaction with, and experiences using automated notification systems. Findings indicate that service providers are aware of and use automated notification; however, less than one-quarter of victim respondents were registered for automated notification services. Service providers and victims who use automated notification services report high overall satisfaction; however, they also report challenges in using these systems. Service providers offer several recommendations for improving automated notification systems.

Resumen
In the era of digital information electronic trading platforms have become an integral attribute to conduct procurement to meet public needs. Nowadays there is a consistent trend is that legislators transfer the vast majority of purchases to the electronic plane through the use of electronic trading platforms. This incentive of the legislator is attributed to a number of advantages of the electronic form of procurement procedures, which allow to increase their transparency and accessibility to an indefinite number of people. However, the role of electronic trading platforms must not be reduced solely to an electronic platform, which allows only to transfer the procurement procedure in a different form. On the contrary, the potential of electronic trading platforms can significantly simplify and automate business activities of customers, increase the efficiency of procurement not only by expanding competition but also by reducing the organizational burden on the parties of the procurement process, both customers and the participants. The purpose of the article is to present for review ways to improve the operation of electronic trading floors to automate the procurement process during competitive procedures for state and municipal needs. Research methods: formal legal, modeling, analysis and synthesis, induction and deduction. The results of the study. The article presents for review ways to optimize the operation of electronic trading platforms by attracting software and hardware when conducting competitive procedures. Ways of automation the procurement process are described, including integration of the functionality of electronic trading platforms with official registries in order to minimize the risk of a possible rejection of a participant’s procurement application when considering the second parts of applications. Other innovative services of the functionality of electronic trading platforms (auto-completion of forms, data inheritance, automated collection of proposals) have been suggested, the implementation of which will simplify and automate the process of conducting competitive procedures, reduce the administrative burden on the customer, ensure transparency and a competitive basis when holding tenders.
