Texto completoBorn in the trenches of World War I, Anzac is white Australia’s greatest myth. The involvement of troops from the Anzac (Australian and New Zealand army corps) in the conflict is considered as the turning point in the nation's history and has made a lasting impression on the Australian consciousness. The fascination which Anzac exerts on the national imagination was particularly obvious in the 1980's, when the great war was the subject of a few films and television series. These portrayals show a common will to reillustrate the myth in its traditional form and to resist demythification, thus revealing Australia’s state of mind during this period
