Resumen
Purpose of this study was to evaluate with diffusion-tensor imaging (DTI) changes of radial diffusivity (RD) and fractional anisotropy (FA) in the optic nerve (ON) and optic radiation (OR) in glaucoma and to determine whether changes in RD and FA correlate with disease severity. Therefore, glaucoma patients and controls were examined using 3T. Regions of interest were positioned on RD and FA maps, and mean values were calculated for ON and OR and correlated with optic nerve atrophy and reduced spatial-temporal contrast sensitivity (STCS) of the retina. We found, that RD in glaucoma patients was significantly higher in the ON (0.74 ± 0.21 versus 0.58 ± 0.17⋅10−3 mm2 s−1;P<0.05) and OR (0.79 ± 0.23 versus 0.62 ± 0.14⋅10−3 mm2 s−1;P<0.05) compared to controls. Aside, FA was significantly decreased (0.48 ± 0.15 versus 0.66 ± 0.12 and 0.50 ± 0.20 versus 0.66 ± 0.11;P<0.05). Hereby, correlation between changes in RD/FA and optic nerve atrophy/STCS was observed (r>0.77). In conclusion, DTI at 3 Tesla allows robust RD and FA measurements in the ON and OR. Hereby, the extent of RD increase and FA decrease in glaucoma correlate with established ophthalmological examinations.

Resumen
Using an all-electron, full potential first-principles method, we have investigated the topology of charge density and elastic anisotropy of Ti3SiC2 polymorphs comparatively. By analyzing the charge density topology, it was found that the Ti–Si bonds are weaker in β than in α, resulting in a destabilizing effect and lower Young’s modulus in directions between a and c axes for β. On the other hand, the Si–C bonds (absent in α) are formed in β in the c direction. The formation of the Si–C bonds not only mitigates the destabilizing effect of the weaker Ti–Si bonds, but also results in larger Young’s modulus in the c direction. In contrast to the high elastic anisotrophy, the elastic anisotropy of Ti3SiC2 is very low.

Resumen
We calculate the angular distribution of cosmic rays at a given point of the heliosphere under the assumption that the incoming flux from outer space is isotropic. The static magnetic field is shown to cause no anisotropy provided that the observation point is situated out of the trapped particle area. We consider a coronal ejection model in the form of a static cylinder with an axial homogeneous magnetic field inside. We calculate angular distribution samples in the trapped particle area (inside the cylinder) and show that there is a certain cone of directions with a reduced flux. For the same model with the moving cylinder, the angular distribution samples are calculated for different positions of the observation point outside the cylinder. Anisotropy of order of the ejection to light velocity ratio is shown to arise. The calculated samples are in qualitative agreement with URAGAN muon hodoscope data.

Resumen
In this work, a model of the surface layer of perfect single crystals is used and the role of surface energy in physical processes occurring in the region of nanosized carbon materials is clarified. Of these, diamond, graphite, carbyne and fullerenes have been investigated. The thickness of the surface layer of diamond with cubic symmetry is 8.2 nm and is a nanostructure. The average size of the synthesized nanodiamond is of the order of ~ 8 nm. The value of the surface energy σhkl calculated by us along the diamond planes (100), (110), and (111) is in good agreement with experiment and other calculations. The thickness of the surface layer of graphite along the a axis is equal to R(I)a = 8.0 nm and also represents a nanostructure. But along the c axis we have a layer thickness of about 1.5 nm and the number of monolayers is only 2. On this c axis, graphite can be created a monolayer by turning it into graphene. The σhkl value calculated by us along the a and c planes of graphite is 25957 and 5515 mJ/m2 , respectively. Carbines represent a polymeric polyyne or cumulene chain composed of sp-hybridized carbon atoms. If we imagine that the thickness of the surface layer of carbyne is stretched into a one-dimensional chain along the c axis, then the length of this chain is up to 200 nm for α-carbyne. The thickness of the surface layer of fullerenes significantly exceeds the thickness of the surface layer of pure metals. The surface energy of fullerenes σhkl increases with an increase in the number of carbon atoms С36 → С96. It also changes in the series (111) → (100) → (110).

A research has been conducted to determine the anisotropic pattern of magnetic susceptibility and the status of igneous rocks exposure from the obtained pattern. We have measured the anisotropy of magnetic susceptibility on five samples of igneous rock from North Sulawesi by Bartington MS2B. The position of samples were adjusted according to the Tauxe’s design. The result shows that the maximum susceptibility is distributed around northward and eastward, while the intermediate and minimum susceptibility are distributed around nortward-eastward and eastward-southward. The susceptibility ellipsoid tends to be prolate or more oval. This shows that the igneous rocks that have been analyzed are group of intrusive rocks which melting mechanism occurs through vertical fracture.enetie

Resumen
Anisotropic properties will influence seismic propagation, for example it will affect wave velocity. One of well-known anisotropi equation for Transversaly Isotropic media is weak anisotropy with Thomsen's notation. Supriyono [2011] tried to estimate all of these variables by using velocity variation with angle (VVA) attribute. This research uses synthetic data, which is CMP Gather to know limitations of VVA attribute, to identify the error values, and to determine the best indicator of anisotropic eect. This research also uses another analysis method, which is grid search inversion to estimate VP0. From this research, Both VVA and grid search invesion still produce signcant error. The effects which will appear because of anisotropic property's presence are hockey-stick and over NMO-stretching.

Resumen
BackgroundPrevious morphology and diffusion-imaging studies have suggested that structural changes in white matter is an important part of the pathophysiology of obsessive–compulsive disorder (OCD). However, different methodological approaches and the heterogeneity of patient samples question the validity of the findings.Materials and methodsIn total, 30 patients were matched for age and sex with 30 healthy controls. All participants underwent T1-weighted magnetic resonance imaging, diffusion tensor imaging and T2 fluid-attenuated inversion recovery. Voxel-based morphometry and tract-based spatial statistics were used to compare white matter volumes and diffusion tensor imaging between groups. These data were analysed correcting for the effects of multiple comparisons, age, sex, severity and duration of illness as nuisance covariates. White matter hyperintensities were manually identified.ResultsIncrease in fractional anisotropy in cerebellum was the most prominent result. A decrease in fractional anisotrophy in patients comparable with previous studies was located in forceps minor. There were no differences in the white matter morphology or in the white matter hyperintensities between patients and healthy controls.ConclusionDecrease in fractional anisotrophy in forceps minor and increase in cerebellum were found, and they were not due to neither white matter hyperintensities nor morphology of the white matter. Cerebellar hyperconnectivity could be an important part of OCD pathophysiology.

Resumen
In the work of Shebzukhova and Arefieva, by the method of electronic-statistical calculation of the anisotropy of the surface energy of metals, a method for estimating the work function of electrons from a metal was determined. The surface energy and electron work function of four main faces of cadmium and zinc crystals and five faces of mercury are estimated. In the work of Bokarev, the anisotropy of the surface energy of single crystals was calculated from the model of coordination melting of crystals. Based on experimental studies and theoretical calculations, it is shown that the model of coordination melting of crystals unambiguously links the physicochemical properties of the surface of single crystals with their crystal structure. In our proposed empirical model, not only the anisotropy is calculated, but also the thickness of the surface layer of the metal. It is shown that the thickness of the surface layer is determined by one fundamental parameter - the molar (atomic) volume, which periodically changes in accordance with the table of D.I. Mendeleev. It is shown in the work that the work function of electrons changes proportionally with a change in the surface energy of the metal. This means that the device we have developed can be used to measure the state of the metal surface and its anisotropy.

Resumen
The nature of ornamental stones is anisotropic. The heterogeneous characteristics of the anisotropic rocks vary with direction. The highest to lowest strength ratio is known as the anisotropy strength index (ASI). A thorough investigation of the ASI is necessary to determine the best-directed loads for these rocks. On core specimens that have been bored parallel and perpendicular to the weakness planes, this is estimated using both uniaxial compression and point load testing. For this examination, four different rock types had cores that were drilled conventionally and in line with weakness planes. The research shows that drilling cores to weakness planes at a normal or nearly normal angle (90° to 60°) yields the best, most dependable ASI. According to the current study’s findings, the ASI fluctuates depending on how uniformly the mineral content and texture of rocks are. A suggested way to calculate the ASI and the load point strength is also included. This study reveals that the employment of ornamental stone as is (for example, precipitation position is more robust and reliable than that perpendicular form) is critical in determining the resilience of this type of rock and its spatial implementation (e.g. flooring).

Resumen
A horizontal well in the Wolfcamp Formation within the Delaware Basin exhibits cross-dipole sonic log anisotropy varying from 0.0% to 29.7% over the reservoir interval. Massive limestones exhibit little anisotropy while shales and intervals with high fracture counts have high anisotropy. Integrated analysis of acoustic, image and triple combo open-hole log data indicates that the computed volume of shale log is a strong predictor of anisotropy with a simple linear relationship. However, there is much anisotropy that is not accounted for by this lithologically related linear relationship. We refer to the residual obtained by subtracting the predicted anisotropy using this relationship from the measured anisotropy from a cross-dipole sonic tool as the excess anisotropy. The excess anisotropy is the remaining anisotropy that is not accounted for by linear regression between the volume of shale log and the measured anisotropy. We find that the excess anisotropy is linearly correlated to the resistive fracture density. Linear regression between the two variables yields a statistically significant relationship that enables a rough estimation of the resistive fracture frequency from the excess anisotropy. Validation in a second well produces a similar correlation to fracture frequency.

Resumen
Frequency-dependent P-wave anisotropy due to scattering often occurs in fractured formations, whereas the corresponding theoretical study is lacking. Hence, based on a newly developed P-wave scattering model, we have studied the frequency-dependent P-wave scattering anisotropy in rocks with aligned fractures. To describe P-wave scattering anisotropy, we develop the corresponding anisotropy parameters similar to those for elastic anisotropy. Our results indicate that the P-wave velocity anisotropy parameters [Formula: see text] and [Formula: see text] do not change with frequency monotonically, which is different from that caused by wave-induced fluid flow. Fluid saturation in fractures can greatly decrease the P-wave velocity anisotropy, whose effects depend on the ratio of the fluid bulk modulus to the fracture aspect ratio. The P-wave exhibits elliptical anisotropy for the dry fracture case at low frequencies, but anelliptical anisotropy for the case with fluid-filled fractures. The P-wave attenuation anisotropy parameters [Formula: see text] and [Formula: see text] vanish in the low- and high-frequency limits but reach their maxima at the characteristic frequency when the P-wavelength is close to the fracture length. The influence of fluid on the P-wave attenuation anisotropy is similar to that on the velocity anisotropy. To further analyze frequency-dependent P-wave scattering anisotropy, theoretical predictions are compared with experimental results, which indicate reasonable agreement between them.

Resumen
We present here micromagnetic study of variation of switching field distribution (SFD) in a high-density patterned media as a function of magnetic anisotropy of the system. We consider the manifold effect of magnetic anisotropy in terms of its magnitude, tilt in anisotropy axis and random arrangements of magnetic islands with random anisotropy values. Our calculation shows that reduction in anisotropy causes linear decrease in coercivity because the anisotropy energy tries to align the spins along a preferred crystallographic direction. Tilt in anisotropy axis results in decrease in squareness of the hysteresis loop and hence facilitates switching. Finally, the experimental challenges like lithographic distribution of magnetic islands, their orientation, creation of defects, etc. demanded the distribution of anisotropy to be random along with random repetitions. We have explained that the range of anisotropy values and the number of bits with different anisotropy play a key role over SFD, whereas the position of the bits and their repetitions do not show a considerable contribution.

Resumen
We analyze time profiles of isotropic intensity, components of vector and tensor anisotropies of cos-mic rays (CR) when Earth crosses the neutral sheet of the interplanetary magnetic field (IMF) in solar activity cycles 23–24. The moments of the crossings are de-termined from Wilcox Observatory synoptic charts and IMF data. Periods of Forbush decreases and ground level enhancements are excluded from the analysis. The events are analyzed for the epochs of positive and negative signs of the Sun’s general magnetic field. During each epoch, the crossings from the positive sector to the negative one and vice versa are separated. In total, 213 crossing events have been selected. The first two spherical harmonics of the angular CR-distribution are obtained using the global survey method. In each case, the average number of stations is equal to 32. The analysis shows that the temporal change of the isotropic component is caused by a magnetic mirror. For the first time, the zonal harmonics are reliably distinguished, and the existence of the antisymmetric diurnal CR-variation in a low energy range, which is oriented along IMF, is recognized. We compare our results with those obtained earlier.

Resumen
The observable anisotropy of cosmic rays has first been decomposed into zonal harmonics and components of vector and tensor anisotropy. We examine Forbush decreases in cosmic rays that occurred in November 2001 and November 2004. It is shown that at the beginning of a Forbush decrease an antisunward convective current of cosmic rays predominates; and during the recovery phase, a sunward diffusive current of particles along the interplanetary magnetic field dominates. During the phase of intensity drop, short-time decreases in the second zonal harmonic take place. These decreases occur with abrupt changes of the interplanetary magnetic field intensity and solar wind speed. During the passage of large-scale solar wind disturbances, the tensor anisotropy behaves in a complicated way. To explain its behavior, a further detailed investigation is required.

Resumen
A correct composition of two kind of magnetic anisotropy of ellipsoidal nanoparticles: crystalline anisotropy and shape anisotropy - has been carried out. It was shown that according to the shape anisotropy the effective anisotropy constant can change non-monotonically. The temperature dependence of effective anisotropy constant on the angle defining the position of effective axis was calculated. It was found out if the angle between the crystalline anisotropy axis and the long axis of nanoparticle exceedsπ/4, then the effective constant as well as the position of effective axis has to change non-monotonically according to changing of temperature.

Resumen
In Ba ferrite particles magnetocrystalline and shape anisotropies are contemporarily present and conflicting. The strength and evolution of the two anisotropies are studied, through the dependence of the anisotropy constants on temperature. While in pure Ba ferrite particles the anisotropy is uniaxial at all temperatures, since the magnetocrystalline anisotropy clearly prevails on shape anisotropy, in particles modified for employment in recording media the two anisotropies are comparable and at low temperatures the shape anisotropy result stronger than the crystalline anisotropy. Besides the irregular shape of the particles introduces further preferred directions for the magnetization. The Co/Ti-doped particles show a multiple axes anisotropy. The macroscopic magnetic properties are found in relationship with the evolution of the anisotropy. Also the influence that the presence of such multiple anisotropy has on the magnetization switching and on the thermal stability of the magnetization of the Ba ferrite particles is analyzed.

Resumen
In this study, anisotropic heterogeneous geotechnical fields are characterized using random field theory, in which five basic patterns of material anisotropy are simulated including isotropy, transverse anisotropy, rotated anisotropy, general anisotropy, and general rotated anisotropy. Theoretical formulations of scale of fluctuation as a function of directional angle are developed for the five basic patterns of anisotropy through modifications of the coordinate system. These formulations of scale of fluctuation are identical for different correlation structures. Correlation functions for the exponential and Gaussian correlation structures are also derived. The matrix decomposition method is then applied to generate anisotropic random fields. The generated random field correlated data are verified with two realizations of transverse anisotropy and general rotated anisotropy random fields. Test values of the sample mean, sample deviation, and scales of fluctuation in six directions match well with the prescribed values. This study provides a technique to characterize inherent geotechnical variability and anisotropy, which is required to realistically simulate complex geological properties in engineering reliability analysis and design.

Resumen
The anisotropy feature is an important characteristic of granular materials in natural life and is caused by two facts: the anisotropy feature of particle shape, such as an elongated or flattened shape, and the anisotropy feature of the packing fabric, such as the preferable orientation of particle alignment. The discrete element method has been commonly used in the study of meso-mechanics of granular materials and is in our study to simulate the direct shear test with particles of various aspect ratios under different initial orientation alignment conditions for assessing the coupled influence of anisotropy from particle shape and fabric of particle packings on the shear behaviour of granular materials. Analysis results show that anisotropy from the particle shape has the most significant influence on the shear behaviour of a granular packing when the packing has the initial anisotropy fabric of an orientational alignment perpendicular to the shear direction. Moreover, the initial fabric anisotropy of a granular packing has an increasing influence with the rise in anisotropy of particle shape. A combined anisotropic factor is finally introduced to reflect the coupled influence of the shape anisotropy of particles and the fabric anisotropy of particle packings.

Resumen
Abstract We present a study of the influence of solar UV anisotropy on the heliospheric backscatter helioglow generated by resonant scattering of solar Lyα photons on interstellar hydrogen atoms around the Sun. Simulations based on the WawHelioGlow model suggest that the response of the helioglow pole-to-ecliptic ratio to the anisotropy is linear, but 15% of the anisotropy (polar darkening) generates 30%–40% change in the ratio in the solar minimum and 15%–20% in the solar maximum. We attribute this difference to an interplay between the solar UV anisotropy and the latitudinal structure of the solar wind in solar minima. The solar UV anisotropy also increases the helioglow intensity from the downwind direction by 5%–10%, due to the influence of the anisotropy on the ionization losses and trajectories of atoms passing by the Sun in polar regions. Consequently, midlatitude regions (in the heliographic and ecliptic coordinates) are least affected by the UV anisotropy. By comparison of the simulation results with observations of the Solar and Heliospheric Observatory/SWAN satellite instrument, we derive the day-by-day time evolution of the solar Lyα anisotropy for the north and south poles over two solar cycles from 1996 to 2022. The inferred anisotropy is ∼5%–10% in solar minima and ∼15%–25% in solar maxima, the northern anisotropy being stronger than the southern one. Our study suggests that in solar minima a highly structured solar wind is associated with relatively small solar UV anisotropy, while in solar maxima the solar wind is more isotropic but a substantial solar UV anisotropy appears.

Resumen
We studied two subjects related to anisotropy: random walk on percolation cluster having anisotropy (RWAC) and direction dependent (anisotropic) random walk on percolation cluster (AWIC). We find that the anisotropy of the cluster has only time-delaying effect on asymptotic convergence of the spectral dimensionality ds and fractal dimensionality of walk dw, however, the anisotropy of the walk results in lower spectral dimensionality and higher fractal dimensionality, as anisotropy grows larger.

Resumen
The effect of Dzialoshiski-Moriya (DM) interaction and anisotropy on the thermal entanglement of a two-qutrit XXZ spin chain is investigated. Our analysis implies that the DM interaction and weak anisotropy can enhance the thermal entanglement to a maximum value while the strong anisotropy plays a positive role in shrinking thermal entanglement. Furthermore, we find that the entanglement evolution in terms of anisotropy is sensitive to weak anisotropy.

Resumen
The topic of seismic anisotropy in exploration and exploitation has seen a great deal of progress in the past decade‐and‐a‐half. The principal reason for this is the increased (and increasing) quality of seismic data, of the processing done to it, and of the interpretation expected from it. No longer an academic subject of little practical interest, it is now often viewed as one of the crucial factors which, if not taken into account, severely hampers our effective use of the data. The following brief overview is not intended to be exhaustive, since any such attempt would surely be incomplete. However, it does provide a high‐level survey of the advances seen (at the end of this period) to be important by one who was closely involved, and it directly extrapolates this history to predict the future development of the topic.

Resumen
The magnetic properties and magnetic anisotropy of epitaxial ultrathin Fe films (4.1–12.7 ML) grown on GaAs (100) are studied using ex situ magnetooptical Kerr (MOKE) loop measurement and Ferromagnetic Resonance (FMR). They give consistent results. The behavior of out-of-plane and in-plane magnetic anisotropy is evaluated from the FMR data. A strong second order out-of-plane anisotropy and an in-plane uniaxial anisotropy are observed to decrease with thickness. A moderate fourth order out-of-plane anisotropy and a four-fold in-plane anisotropy appear for thicker films and increase with thickness. Their origins are discussed.

Resumen
Anisotropy of materials has harmful effects during deep drawing operations and reduce it will strongly enhance the productivity and quality of deep drawing yields. In this work the effect of annealing treatment on texture and anisotropy behavior of cold rolled stainless steel 304 sheets were investigated. Uniaxial tensile test samples cut at 0o, 45o and 90o to the rolling direction were prepared in order to measure the anisotropy parameters (normal anisotropy, r_n, and planar anisotropy, ∆r). Two annealing temperatures (1050, and 1150) °C were used to study their effects on anisotropy behavior. The results show that the normal anisotropy value of annealed samples at 1150°C increases by (31%) as compared to the received samples. This indicates that the annealed samples at 1150 °C have the highest formability. Also, results show significant reduction (about 88.7%) in planar anisotropy value for 1150°C annealed samples. This gave rise to an increase in deep drawing yield

Resumen
A systematic laboratory study of shear‐wave velocity anisotropy in sedimentary rocks has been carried out as a function of both hydrostatic and uniaxial stress. The presence of shear‐wave velocity anisotropy in sedimentary rocks was confirmed by transmitting a polarized shear wave in a rock sample and receiving a signal on an orthogonally polarized receiver. The magnitude of the observed velocity anisotropy is dependent upon the magnitude and nature of the applied stress and the lithology of the rock sample. Shales exhibit significant velocity anisotropy independent of both uniaxial and hydrostatic stress, which suggests the presence of preferentially aligned minerals. Sandstones also exhibit significant velocity anisotropy, but the anisotropy is strongly dependent upon the stress. Hydrostatic stress was found to diminish the velocity anisotropy and uniaxial stress was found to enhance it. This implies the presence of preferentially oriented cracks. Limestones exhibit weak velocity anisotropy. These laboratory observations may be helpful in in situ identification of lithology.

Resumen
The analized material was high alumina low cement castable sintered at three different temperatures. Influence of initial material anisotropy on the thermal shock resistance as well as changes of anisotropy level during the thermal shock were studied. Water quench test was used as an experimental method for the thermal stability testing. Surface anisotropy was analysed by image analysis and structural anisotropy using ultrasonic measurements. The results pointed out that the highest homogeinity and the lowest surface and structural anisotropy was for the samples sintered at 1600?C. Surface anistoropy had prevailing infuence on behavior of material during the thermal shock, but the structural anisotropy should not be neglected.
