Resumen
Minimal chemical pollution, increased offshore wind farms and energy production sustainability Coordinator of the Anemoi project, Bavo De Witte (ILVO), discusses the path to minimal chemical pollution and increasing the sustainability of offshore wind energy. Offshore wind energy production is a relatively sustainable yet fast-growing industry, contributing to the UN development goals on green energy and climate actions. Europe’s total offshore wind power capacity as of September 2023 is 32 GW (1), only 20% of the European target to produce >150 GW by 2030. The vast increase in offshore energy production urged different European countries to monitor the potential effects of offshore wind farms (OWFs) on the marine ecosystem, including the impact of underwater noise, the introduction of novel habitats, and the exclusion of fisheries. However, the potential risk of chemical emissions by OWF structures remains largely unknown though estimated to be small.

Resumen
The essay analyses the name of a pagan God of the Ancient Rus Stribog, who was mentioned in “The Russian Primary Chronicle” and “The Tale of the Igor’s Campaign” and its connection with the ancient Greek mythology. The article suggests that an old-Russian god Stribog is similar to the ancient Greek god Astray, the father of the famous gods of winds, Boreas — the god of cold northern wind, Zephyr — the god of warm western wind, Anemoi — the god of hot southern wind and Eurus — the god of unstable eastern or south-eastern wind, who are often associated with the winds they symbolize in Russian poetry. The similarity of Stribog and Astray lays not only in their origins, but in the common root str-. The article concludes that because god Astray is not only the farther of the gods of the winds, but also the father of Venus and other stars, it is arguable that Stribog is both the grandfather of the winds and the Slavic god of the night sky.

Resumen
Background.India is the highest contributor to child anemia. About 89 million children in India are anemic. The study determines the factors that contributed to child anemia and examines the role of the existing programs in reducing the prevalence of child anemia particularly in the EAG states.Methods.The data from the latest round of the National Family Health Survey (NFHS-3) is used. Simple bivariate and multinomial logistics regression analyses are used.Results.About 70% children are anemic in all the EAG states. The prevalence of severe anemia is the highest (6.7%) in Rajasthan followed by Uttar Pradesh (3.6%) and Madhya Pradesh (3.4%). Children aged 12 to 17 months are significantly seven times (RR=7.99,P<0.001) more likely to be severely anemic compared to children of 36 to 59 months. Children of severely anemic mothers are also found to be more severely anemic (RR=15.97,P<0.001) than the children of not anemic mothers.Conclusions.The study reveals that the existing government program fails to control anemia among preschool children in the backward states of India. Therefore, there is an urgent need for monitoring of program in regular interval, particularly for EAG states to reduce the prevalence of anemia among preschool children.

Resumen
The incidence of maternal and fetal morbidities and mortalities are very high in anemic patients. According to WHO anemia is the most common medical disease in pregnancy in south east Asian region. 18-20 pregnant women are anemic in developed countries as compared to the incidence is as high as 40% to 75% in south east Asian region. According to Center of Disease Control (CDC) anemia in pregnancy means hemoglobin is less than 11 g/dl (Hematocrit; {Hct} < 33%) in the first and third trimester and less than 10.5 g/dl (Hct < 32%) in the second trimester. According to World Health Organization (WHO), anemia in pregnancy is defined as Hb level is less than 11gm/dl. As physiological hemodilution occurs during pregnancy, pregnant women are at higher risk of anemia and more commonly iron deficiency anemia. The aim of the study is to compare the risk of PROM between anemic pregnant women and non-anemic pregnant women. It is a prospective observational study held in Z.H.Sikder women’s medical college & hospital from April,2020 to march,2021. 100 cases of anemic and 100 cases of non-anemic pregnant women were purposively taken as study population. The prevalence of PROM equaled to 64% in pregnant anemic group. In bivariable analysis, the risk factors of anemia such as, maternal working condition, socio economic status and maternal age were studied. The risk of PROM is higher in anemic pregnant women than in non-anemic pregnant women. Doctors and healthcare workers should be more careful to prevent and treat anemia in pregnancy to avoid the adverse outcomes.

Resumen
Background: Anemia in pregnancy is a major health problem worldwide, especially in developing countries like India. Maternal and fetal outcomes are poor in pregnant patients with anemia. The most important cause of anemia is iron deficiency anemia which can be prevented by early oral iron supplementation. Methods: This cross-sectional study was conducted in the department of obstetrics and gynecology of our tertiary care teaching institution for a period of one year. 1290 pregnant women coming to the antenatal OPD were screened for anemia and 490 women. Patients who were not anemic were excluded. 800 patients were enrolled in the study. Each patient was interviewed using a structured interview schedule and the data obtained was analyzed. Results: The percentage of anemia in pregnant women was 62% in our study of which 40% were mildly anemic, 55% were moderately anemic and 5% were severely anemic. Maximum number of anemic women -mild, moderate and severe was seen in the age group 20-24 years. Mild and severe anemia was seen more in the secondary educated women. Maximum percentage of anemia was seen in the lower socio-economic status followed by middle and was lowest in the higher socio-economic status group. Prevalence of anemia was almost equal in primigravida and multigravidas (around 50%) but 80% of severely anemic patients were multigravida. Almost 68% took iron and folic acid tablets regularly. Conclusions: Treating anemia in pregnant women will go a long way in improving maternal and fetal outcome. Hence a future healthy younger generation can be produced. Iron tablets can be distributed at school to young girls to prevent anemia in future women.

Resumen
Abstract Background - More than 3 million people in the United States over the age of 65 are anemic. The evidence indicates that older people with anemia suffer hospitalizations, physical decline and disability more than people without anemia. Additionally there are reports that anemia is an independent risk factor for this decline in physical performance in those over the age of 65. Objective - The goal of this study was to detail if anemia significantly affects patient’s rehabilitation outcomes by focusing on the ability to perform activities of daily living (ADL) as assessed by the physical therapist, the disposition upon discharge (meeting the therapy goals) and an analysis of length of stay (LOS) in relation to anemia. Methods - We conducted a chart review of 260 medical records of patients who underwent rehabilitation therapy at the North Chicago Veterans Affairs Medical Center, and detailed the progress of 69 of these patients who received ADL therapy. The study is ongoing with a projected chart review of 437 medical records, and with an estimated final sample size of 150. Univariate and multivariate analysis was conducted in relation to our outcome measures. Results - The anemic group had 43 patients and the non-anemic 26. Average values for anemic patients were: Hgb 11 Hct 32, MCV 88, MCH 29.2, RDW 15.6, Platelets 259, the non-anemic patients values were: Hgb 13.4, Hct 39, MCV 89, MCH 33.3, RDW 14.3, platelets 229. The patients with anemia had a median change in ADL scores of 9 versus non-anemic patients’ median change in scores of 12 (p=0.154). Length of stay was 51 days (median) for anemic patients and 36 days (median) for non-anemic patients (p=0.108) Of the non-anemic patients, 19 out of 26 (73%) met the goals of therapy and 21 out of 43 (49%) of the anemic patients met the goals of therapy (p=0.055). Surprisingly, only 3 out of the 43 (7%) anemic patients were treated for their anemia or had work up done to identify the cause of the anemia. The multivariate model for length of stay indicated that anemia was not significant (p=0.842), the morbidity of the patient was marginally not significant (p=0.089), however, the patients’ age was statistically significant at p=0.05. For the multivariate model of ADL improvement the results were: anemia p=0.186, sex p=0.298, Charlson index p=0.50. Conclusion - There is a definite lack in the identification and treatment of anemia in patients undergoing rehabilitation. Anemia exerts an influence on the course of patient therapy/recovery and should be addressed as an individual problem. Anemic patients undergoing rehabilitation are scoring lower, and are admitted longer to the hospital.

Resumen
AbstractAnemia and Helicobacter pylori infection in school-age children are important public health problems. The association between H. pylori infection and the development of anemia, especially iron deficiency anemia, has been previously studied and until now it is still a matter of argument. This study aimed to determine the prevalence of anemia and H. pylori infection among school-age children and to find the association between H. pylori infection and anemia in school-age children. We conducted this population-based cross-sectional study in six Egyptian primary schools over a 12-month-period, including 1,200 students from all grades who fulfilled the inclusion criteria. The study participants were subjected to the following: medical history, clinical examination, and laboratory investigations included complete blood count and H. pylori antigen in stool, and according to the level of hemoglobin (Hb), we divided the students into two groups; the anemic group with Hb level <11.5 g/dL and nonanemic group with Hb level ≥11.5 g/dL, and the serum ferritin levels were measured only for the anemic group as the best indicator for iron status. The overall prevalence of H. pylori infection was 25%. The overall prevalence of anemia was 13.25%, of which hypochromic microcytic anemia represented 87.4% of the anemic group, and the mean ferritin level in the anemic group was 18.56 ± 9.96 ng/mL. The prevalence of anemia among H. pylori-infected patients (62.3%) was significantly (p < 0.001) higher than in noninfected children (37.7%). In the anemic group, the mean ferritin level in H. pylori-infected children was significantly lower than the mean level in the noninfected children (p <0.001). Furthermore, the anemic group had a significantly higher incidence of H. pylori infection and a lower age (p <0.001) in comparison with the nonanemic group. The dominant type of anemia in H. pylori-infected children was the microcytic hypochromic anemia, with a significantly higher incidence in comparison to other types of anemia (p <0.001). The findings of this study demonstrate a significant association between H. pylori infection and anemia in school-aged children, especially iron deficiency anemia, as the incidence of H. pylori infection was greater in anemic children than in non-anemic children.

In recent years, new symmetric cryptographic primitives have been proposed for advanced protocols, like multi-party computation, in combination with a fully homomorphic encryption or in various systems of zero-knowledge proofs. Such protocols are parts of a context marked by the development of cloud and blockchain technologies, and must therefore respond to the growing security concerns of users. These protocols have put forward the need to minimize the number of multiplications performed by the primitive in large finite fields. Classical symmetric algorithms are then inappropriate in this context and the new cryptographic protocols must be combined with symmetric primitives (encryption or hash function) with particular properties. While the number of designs defined over large fields, called "arithmetisation-oriented", is increasing significantly, few cryptanalysis works have been proposed. The first aim of this manuscript is then to contribute to fill this gap, and hence to better understand the specificities of these new objects. We also propose a new vision to design such primitives, covering both aspects of cryptology, the cryptography and the cryptanalysis

Resumen
The aim of this study was to investigate factors affecting the uptake of dissolved inorganic nitrogen (DIN) by the temperate symbiotic sea anemone, Anemonia viridis. Laboratory experiments were used to test DIN uptake rates of symbiotic and aposymbiotic (alga-free) individuals, to enable the prediction of the magnitude of DIN flux rates in anemones in their natural environment, and to allow the construction of a model of the DIN fluxes in the association. It was also hoped to assess the potential for fully autotrophic growth in this species. Uptake rates were measured by following depletion of DIN from small-volume incubation chambers that had been enriched to produce DIN concentrations across the reported range for temporate coastal waters. At light levels of 190 E.m^-2, ammonia was taken up by symbiotic anemones from all concentrations tested, whilst aposymbionts lost ammonia to the surrounding sea water. Nitrate was not taken up by any of the anemones. The relationship between the weight-specific ammonia flux rate and ambient ammonia concentration was linear for both symbionts and aposymbionts. In all cases the slope of the relationship was positive, symbionts showing increasing rates of uptake and apsoymbionts showing decreasing rates of efflux with increasing ammonia concentration. There was no evidence of Michaelis-Menten uptake kinetics across the range of concentrations used, despite extending this to 30 g-at NH3 - N.1-1 in an attempt to show saturation of uptake. In darkness, the elevation of the rate/concentration relationship was depressed for symbionts, but not for aposymbionts, so that symbionts showed efflux of ammonia at concentrations below 4 g-at NH_3-N.1^-1. The elevation increased with light intensity up to 50 E.m-2.s-1, whilst the slope of the relationship remained constant. Above 50 E.m^-2 the elevation could not increase, but the slope became greater. Feeding the anemones with squid mantle tissue three days prior to experiments had variable effects on ammonia flux rates, but there was a tendency for the elevation of the rate/concentration relationship to drop in recently fed anemones, compared to starved anemones at the same light intensity. Effects are likely to be more marked over the first 24 hours after feeding, and ammonia flux during this period may have significant consequences for the nitrogen balance of the association. Freshly isolated zooxanthellae took up ammonia, and showed Michaelis-Menten type uptake kinetics, with k_s between 3 and 7 g-at NH3 -N.1-1, and max between 0.025 and 0.043 g-at NH_3-N.(g chla)-1.h-1. Uptake rates were not affected by light level, and were an order of magnitude higher than those of the intact association over the range of experimental concentrations used. Incubation of the intact association with 15 NH3-enriched sea water resulted in the 15 N being incorporated into the zooxanthellae, and not the host tissue, over 30 minutes exposure to the labelled ammonia. This showed directly that the algae are responsible for the ammonia uptake of the association. The results obtained are consistent with a two-component uptake system, diffusion across the animal cell membrane being driven by a concentration gradient produced by algal ammonia assimilation. The observed kinetics are the result of two antagonistic processes; the catabolic production of ammonia by the animal cell, and the active uptake of ammonia by the algae. It appears that algal ammonia uptake is saturated at irradiances of 50 E.m^-2.s^-1 and below, and unsaturated at higher irradiances. Light levels and ammonia concentrations were measured in the vicinity of a natural population of Anemonia viridis in Loch Sween, Argyll. The laboratory experiments were used to predict the net metabolic gain or loss of DIN experienced by anemones under the measured field conditions. Ambient ammonia concentrations were negligible around the anemones in Loch Sween throughout the year, and under such conditions a net loss of nitrogen would have occurred, making a heterotrophic input of nitrogen necessary for growth. Net nitrogen gain may, however, occur at ambient ammonia concentrations that could exist in rockpools further south in Britain, where A. viridis is frequently the dominant animal species. A laboratory experiment was conducted to test for the possibility of autotrophic growth in the presence of adequate levels of DIN. Unfortunately, experimental conditions did not consistently provide high enough concentrations of ammonia for net nitrogen gain to be predicted, but anemones exposed to elevated levels of DIN for 8 weeks lost significantly less weight than anemones kept in sea water with negligible ammonia concentrations. The weight loss of the DIN-'fed' anemones corresponded closely to the weight of lost nitrogen predicted from the flux experiments, after conversion to equivalent weight of protein. It remains to be seen if Anemonia viridis can survive and grow autotrophically, but even in the nitrogen-poor environment of a Scottish sea loch, the algae can potentially supply 86-90% of the associations basal nitrogen requirements. The capacity for DIN uptake is clearly an important factor in the success of this species in temperate waters.

Resumen
The persistently high prevalence of anemia in rural highland Bolivia argues for targeted iron supplementation. We evaluated the cultural, structural and behavioral factors that may facilitate or impede an anemic woman's decision to secure this biomedical treatment from a rural Bolivian health center. Methods Non-pregnant women from a rural town and its surrounding region were tested for anemia. During phase 1 ( n = 181), anemic women received a written recommendation for low-cost purchase of iron pills at the nearest health center. They were subsequently interviewed on their actions and experiences. Results Estimated anemia prevalence among these non-pregnant women was 50% higher than the national average. Despite holding conceptualizations of anemia generally aligned with biomedical concepts, only 40% of anemic women attempted to obtain iron supplements from the health center. Town residents were about twice as likely to attempt to purchase pills as outside-town residents. Town women who were concurrently breastfeeding and menstruating, considered anemia most serious for women, and considered family health the shared responsibility of spouses were most likely to decide to purchase iron pills. Age, education, or native language did not negatively influence this health care behavior. Conclusions Securing iron supplements involves individual trade-offs in the allocation of time, cost and effort. Nonetheless, suitably tailored programs can potentially harness local perceptions in the service of reducing anemia. Because of their comparatively high motivation to obtain iron supplements, targeting concurrently breastfeeding and menstruating women could have a positive cascade effect such that these women continue attending to their iron needs once they stop breastfeeding and if they become pregnant again. Because a sense of shared responsibility for family health appears to encourage women to attend to their own health, programs for women could involve their spouses. Complementing centralized availability, biomedical and traditional healers could distribute iron supplements on rotating visits to outlying areas and/or at highly attended weekly markets.

Diagnosis of vitamin B12-defiency anemia has been challenging due to lack of ”gold standard” and poor sensitivity of total B12 as a first line marker. With the aim of improving diagnostic of anemia investigations at county hospital Ryhov, Jönköping, we performed a method verification for active B12 on ARCHITECT i2000SR and evaluated the usefulness of active B12 in diagnosing anemia. Correlation analysis was performed using samples with different total B12 ranges: low (n=10, <148 pmol/L), grey zone (n=10, 149-200 pmol/L) and normal (n=10, 201-250 pmol/L). Receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve was created and area under the curve (AUC) was calculated for determining accuracy of active B12 using 14 deficiency cases. Coefficient of variation (CV) for within-run and total imprecision, for active B12 was 2,4 % and 4,4 %, respectively. Weak correlation was found between B12-ranges, however a moderate correlation (R=0,600) was found including all groups. Active B12 with the cut-off value of 40 pmol/L resulted in high specificity (75%) and sensitivity (80%) and had an AUC of 90 %. Active B12 assay on ARCHITECT i2000SR allows a precise measurement of active B12 in human serum and therefore is adequate for routine use. Active B12 had high accuracy and can be recommended in anemia investigations in county hospital Ryhov, Jönköping.

The global incidence in anemia is estimated to two billion people. It is a condition that causes everyday symptoms which can be experienced as troublesome by the affected. The purpose of this literature review was therefore to describe how an individual with anemia is affected by the condition in their daily life. The study was based on ten scientific articles selected from Goodman's seven-step model. Carnival’s model of daily life-functional health was used as theoretical framework. The results showed that the daily life could be divided into four dimensions; physically, psychologically, socially and spiritually. The physical dimension was affected by pain, impaired physical function and reduced lung capacity, the psychological by depression, impaired cognitive function and the attitude nursing staff had to the condition and the social by the social suffering the condition caused the individual. It also emerged, in the spiritual dimension, that the everyday life was positively affected in terms of increased existential wellbeing. Thus, anemia affect the daily life of the individual, but the extent of its influence varies depending on the form of the condition.

Resumen
Health authorities in Pakistan in collaboration with local and foreign non-government organizations are working hard to achieve the targets set by World Health Organization in 2012, that is, to reduce anemia prevalence and its related factors. However, due to the prevailing COVID-19 crisis, all resources and attention were diverted toward it, which led to ignorance of existing basic health issues. This study assesses anemia prevalence and its related factors among women of childbearing age in the period of global pandemic. A time-lagged, cross-sectional survey was conducted using a self-administered questionnaire among 1,702 volunteer women aged between 15 and 49 years across five major cities of Pakistan from January 2021 to December 2021 using the non-probability consecutive sampling technique. Blood sample results were analyzed to determine prevalence and anemia severity. The chi-squared test and multiple logistic regression were performed to examine the relationship and effect of related factors with hemoglobin levels using SPSS version 26. Among the 1,702 respondents, 788 (46.3%) were non-anemic and 914 (53.7%) were anemic. Anemia prevalence in Karachi was slightly greater (n=294, 55.48%) compared to other cities, and the mean hemoglobin level was 11.98 ± 0.92 g/dL. The chi-square test and multiple logistic regression indicated that the respondents’ employment status, mother’s profession, family income, living conditions, chronic health conditions, use of iron and folic acid supplements, junk food, source of drinking water, and knowledge about anemia and its preventive measures were associated significantly with anemia during the pandemic. Results confirmed that anemia is a multi-factor health problem and that it was totally ignored during the COVD-19 pandemic, as the prevalence increased during the pandemic. Therefore, more attention should be paid to anemia surveillance, anemia awareness programs, and mobilization of community health workers and volunteers to reach a wide range of the population, including women of childbearing age even during the pandemic. Resumen
ABSTRACT Background: Anemia is very common in developing countries and is one of the most common complications of serious diseases. Based on the results of screening the Hb levels student at islamic junior high school Miftahul Hayat in 2018, it was found that 37 students had anemia. This study aimed to determine the effectiveness of cookies produced from moringa oleifera leaves on haemoglobin level in students at Islamic Junior High school Miftahul Hayat, Serang, Banten. Subjects and Method: This was a quasi-experimental. A sample of 37 students of MTS Miftahul Hayat, Serang, Banten and randomly allocated into two groups: intervention and control groups. The dependent variable was an increase in hemoglobin value. The independent variable was anemic student. The data were collected from checklist and analyzed using paired t- test. Results: The results of this study were obtained by respondents as many as 33 people because during the research process 4 people did not consume cookies produced from Moringa Oleifera leaves routinely for 14 days because they were sick so they were excluded from the study sample. Hb level before consume consume cookies produced from Moringa Oleifera leaves (Mean = 10.5 gr/ dl; SD= 0.56; p< 0.001). Hb level after consume cookies produced from Moringa Oleifera leaves (Mean= 13 gr/ dl; SD= 0.85). The difference in Hb levels (Mean = 2.5; SD = 0.88; p <0.001), and it was statically significant (p< 0.001) Conclusion: Consume cookies produced from Moringa Oleifera leaves is effective to improve haemoglobin levels in adolescent. Resumen
We investigate the impact of non-invasive anemia screening on treatment adherence in El Salvador. Anemia is a common childhood condition in low-income countries, due mainly to iron-deficiency, which if left untreated during critical development periods can have lasting health consequences. While effective treatments exist, adherence to treatment is often challenging, since the symptoms of mild to moderate anemia such as lack of energy or paleness can be easily overlooked. We test whether making anemia risks salient through screening during child-well visits can improve treatment adherence, using a cluster-randomized trial in high-poverty areas in El Salvador. Preliminary results indicate that screening enhances treatment adherence and there is suggestive evidence of a reduction of anemia among children 6 to 23 months old. Our results highlight the potential of screening in making anemia risks salient and motivating caregivers to follow treatment plans.
