Resumen

The Metropolitan Railroad Company Site in Roxbury (Boston), Massachusetts, was first excavated in the late 1970s by staff of the Museum of Afro American History. Researchers recovered nearly 20,000 artifacts related to the site's life as a horsecar street railway station and carriage manufacturer from 1860 to 1891, its subsequent conversion into an electric street railway until around 1920, and finally its modern use as an automobile garage. Using the framework of behavioral archaeology, this project uses GIS-based spatial methods and newly collected documentary evidence to reexamine the site's assemblage of horse accoutrements and carriage manufacturing byproducts. Artifact distribution maps overlaid on detailed historic maps reveal that carriage manufacturing ceased concurrent with street railway electrification, but horse harness craftsmanship continued on to serve in new capacities, highlighting nuances in the narrative of technological change onsite and connecting the life histories of materials to historical actors involved with these transitions.

In this thesis we examine the problem of designing architecture of an electric power network with the emphasis on transmission provision that supports various electricity market structures while ensuring the system wide reliability, following the electric power industry restructuring process. Specifically, the thesis proposes a possible regulatory incentive-based framework critical for creating a for-profit independent transmission company (ITC), and defines the role of ITC under the newly introduced regulatory framework, such that an adequate level of transmission capacity is provided for trading energy services between generators and loads over long-term. Before the restructuring process all of the electric services are provided by a so-called vertically integrated utility. A vertically integrated utility is a monopolistic entity who is responsible for meeting the region-wide demand for electricity at some acceptable quality by designing and operating entire generation, transmission and distribution assets within a regional electric power network. A vertically integrated utility fulfills its responsibilities by first projecting the demand of its customers over some period of time ( typically for the next 5 to 10 years) often assuming inelasticity. Then, based on the load projection, the utility plans for additional generation necessary for meeting the demand over the same period. Due to the lack of practical means of storing electricity and the uncertainty in equipment (both generation and transmission) availability, the adequate generation reinforcement includes not only the increase in projected demand but also the sufficient amount of reserves. Under the restructuring process, a completely new environment is created for producing, delivering and consuming electric power. A market is implemented for efficient trading of energy, and a vertically integrated utility is functionally unbundled into generation, transmission and distribution sectors by divesting the generation and distribution assets to many market participants including its affiliates. In the market the newly formed generation companies compete with other generation companies to provide energy to individual distribution companies who serve the ultimate consumer loads. The transmission asset owner and the network operator then together become a transmission provider (TP) who exists as a natural monopoly and provides network capacity to generation and distribution companies under the strict oversight of a regulator. With the introduction of a market mechanism there are a couple of new categories of uncertainties that are not encountered before the restructuring process, namely regulatory uncertainties and the market designs. It is asserted that these uncertainties play a critical role along with the well recognized uncertainties in equipment status/functionality in determining system wide efficiency as well as reliability in the operation and planning of an electric power network in the new environment. In dealing with the regulatory uncertainties, the price-cap regulation (PCR) scheme is suggested to replace the traditional cost-of-service regulation. Due to the particular characteristics of the industry including the lack of practical means of storing electricity and the lack of directly controlling the transmission path, some modifications to the conventional form of PCR scheme are necessary before actual application. In this thesis a practicable PCR scheme is proposed for regulating the operation and planning of a TP, which establishes the framework necessary for creating a for-profit ITC. In dealing with the uncertainties in market designs, the thesis introduces a usable business model for an ITC and the transmission products to be provided by this ITC. It is asserted that much of uncertainties in network usage, due to constantly changing supply and demand of the network users, can be eliminated through offering longer term transmission contracts by the ITC. A liquid market for these transmission contracts is essential for information revelation on the supply and demand of network users. The thesis proposes a workable mechanism for designing the market for transmission. In dealing with the uncertainties in equipment status/functionality, the thesis only suggests that there is a strong need for analytical tools in accurately computing the operational limit on power transfer through transmission lines within the network. Much work is needed for re-visiting the (short-term) reliability standards created under the old industry regime since various contractual agreements among the market participants now have very different interpretation on how the uncertainties in equipment status/functionality need to be handled. An active future research is urged for defining the market mechanisms essential for unbundling reliability in parallel to the functional unbundling. As attempted in this thesis, we believe that any proposed designs for electricity market structures should be examined with a clear understanding of the implications on the overall industry performance, as well as with an understanding of the implications on the individual industry participants, such as power suppliers, provider of wires, and consumers. Particular emphasis should be on understanding the long-term (in contrast to only short-term) effects of various changes on the adequacy of supply and evolution of the grid necessary to support the long-term needs of the energy markets. It will take some deep thinking and patience to get the entire electric power industry to function properly following the restructuring process.

Naujas LST EN 50160 standartas skatina vartotojus domėtis elektros energijos kokybe. Įtampos charakteristikų matavimai buvo atliekami mažos galios įmonės tinkluose: įmonės gamybos bare ir automatizuotoje garo gamybos katilinėje. Šiuose objektuose gausu naujos valdymo įrangos, daugiau kaip 30% galingumo sudaro netiesinės apkrovos, sukeltos puslaidininkinių prietaisų. Matavimai buvo atliekami su energijos kokybei skirtu matuoti prietaisu MEMOBOX. Buvo išmatuotos sekančios elektros energijos kokybės charakteristikos: dažnis, įtampos kitimo vertės, įtampos mirgėjimo aštrumas, tiekiamos įtampos pertrūkiai, viršįtampiai, nesimetrija, harmoninės įtampos. Atlikti matavimai rodo, kad standarto LST EN 50160 įtampos charakteristikų nustatytos vertės yra realios, ir dėl jų nesilaikymo dažniausiai kaltas pats vartotojas. Viršytos mirgėjimo aštrumo vertės yra sukeliamos pačių vartotojų. Harmoninių įtampų vertės mažos galios vartotojų tinkluose yra pakankamai aukštos. Vyraujančios harmonikos - 3, 5, 7 ir 9 eilės. Harmoninių įtampų matavimai įmonės gamybos bare įrodė duomenys rodo, kad įmonėje netiesinių iškreipių faktorius NIF nesiekia 2% , nežiūrint į aukštą netiesinių apkrovų lygį. Matavimai garo katilinėje parodė, kad ne visada netiesinių iškreipių faktorius NIF gali parodyti tikrąjį netiesinių iškraipymų lygį, todėl vykdant svarbius matavimus reikia peržiūrėti visas harmoninių dedamųjų vertes ir įsitikinti ar jos neviršija leistino lygio. The theme of master work is actual because quality of electric energy is the main rate influencing the activity of the company and the quality of its work conditions. Standard LST EN 50160 at this moment is the essential document which describes the main characteristics of voltage and to keep to them electric energy could be called qualitative. Voltage characteristics were measured at the company in the system of low voltage using the device which helps to fix the main electric energy characteristics that is frequency, size of voltage, blinking, downfalls, intermissions, dissymmetric, harmonic voltage. Done measurements show that there are enlarged harmonic levels, especially of the third, fifth, seventh and eleventh harmonics. It is recommendable in the system of the company to perform periodically electric energy quality tests. The survey shows, that high THD worsens the activity of the company, increases losses of the energy, exacerbates work conditions in the company. On purpose to avoid increased levels of harmonics it is recommended to mount filters of harmonics.

Alle ore 14.46 dell’11 marzo 2011, il Giappone è stato colpito da uno dei terremoti più disastrosi mai registrati. Da esso si è originato uno tsunami, le cui onde hanno gravemente danneggiato la centrale nucleare di Fukushima Dai Ichi, localizzata lungo la costa del Pacifico. Questa tesi vuole porre l’attenzione su quelli che sono stati, e sono a sei anni di distanza, gli aspetti più rilevanti della vicenda, guardando all’impatto avutosi a livello nazionale sulla popolazione in termini di perdite umane e di danni materiali, oltre che sui risvolti geopolitici che questo evento ha portato. Segue una panoramica su quello che prevede l’ordinamento giuridico internazionale circa la responsabilità civile per danni in caso di incidente nucleare, focalizzandosi sul contesto specifico di Fukushima. Inoltre, si intende parlare dei procedimenti a livello giuridico con il quale le vittime possono ottenere un risarcimento per i danni subiti. Si vuole poi dare uno sguardo sulla situazione recente dei processi penali pendenti contro Tepco a livello nazionale e non. Da ultimo una riflessione più approfondita con uno sguardo critico su quelle che sono state le omissioni da parte della compagnia elettrica giapponese nelle fasi di gestione della crisi successiva al disastro, gli errori compiuti sulla centrale già in fase di progettazione e quelle relative alla manutenzione degli impianti di sua proprietà, e in particolar modo di quelli che sono stati interessati dalla fusione del nocciolo.

Construction of the Pacific Northwest-Pacific Southwest Intertie (also known as the Pacific Intertie) began in 1964, following the culmination of a series of interrelated negotiations which included: 1) the planning for the construction and operation of the Pacific Intertie; 2) the passage of federal legislation that put limits on the export of electricity from the regions where it was generated; and 3) the full ratification of the Columbia River Treaty between the United States and Canada. By 1970, with construction complete, the Pacific Intertie allowed for the movement of more than 4,000,000 kilowatts of power among the electrical systems of British Columbia and eleven Western states, including 243 rural electrical cooperatives, municipal systems, and other public agencies. It had essentially become the backbone of the largest electrical grid in the Western world. In addition to widening the marketing area available to power producers throughout the grid, the Pacific Intertie also integrated the operations of the nation's largest hydropower system (Bonneville Power Administration), the largest privately owned electrical system (Pacific Gas & Electric), and the largest municipal power system (L.A. Department of Water and Power) in the country.

From 1976 to 1992 Portland General Electric (PGE) -- a private utility based in Portland, Oregon -- operated the Trojan Nuclear Plant near Rainier, Oregon, on the bank of the Columbia River. Trojan was the first commercial nuclear facility in the Pacific Northwest and was the largest such facility in U.S. history. From its origins, Trojan was the focus of growing conflict over atomic energy facilities and their environmental effects, risks, and costs. This thesis traces the history of Trojan, including the conditions in which PGE decided to build the plant as well as the changing conditions in which the environmental movement in Oregon worked to impact the operation of Trojan and the development of further atomic energy facilities in the region. Two sets of values, largely endemic to the region, came into conflict in the debate over Trojan: one which valued preservation of vital natural systems over all else, and another that elevated technological progress to supreme importance in achieving the ultimate social good. Supporters of Trojan and anti-nuclear activists both viewed misinformation about nuclear power as one of the central problems in the way that Oregon residents viewed nuclear power. Although there were many loyal supporters of Trojan, particularly in Columbia County, there were also a great number who viewed the technology cautiously. While both PGE and nuclear opponents worked diligently to sway public opinion, many activists did so by attempting to uncover and publicize hidden information about the design and operation of Trojan, and the nuclear fuel cycle in general. This included efforts throughout the plant's lifetime to develop opportunities for intervention in administrative proceedings, government hearings, and other arenas which often discourage citizen involvement. Related to the public debate over Trojan were ongoing operational difficulties and changing economic conditions, which contributed to the decision PGE announced in 1993 that Trojan would be permanently shut down. This study is based primarily on coverage from newspapers and periodicals, new and extant oral history interviews, documents from the personal files of activists, as well as various archival materials associated with PGE, activist groups, and government agencies.

In order to understand the necessity for the establishment of TETAS, Turkish Energy Policies such as the state-led energy policies and the competition based market orientation are put under scrutiny. The thesis also discusses whether Turkish Government has carried out a comprehensive, deterministic and effective &ldquo
Liberalization Policy&rdquo
in the electricity sector by looking at the present situation and the principles outlined in Laws No: 4628, 5654 and 5686 and the Strategy Paper. The dissertation then examines the life span of TETAS by looking at the impacts of the strategy paper, liberalization procedure of the overall electricity market and newly enacted laws such as Law No: 5654 and 5686 in the short, mean and the long term. In addition, TETAS is examined whether it is a &ldquo
monopoly&rdquo
or not in Turkish Electricity wholesale market by calculating the supply concentration of TETAS using the Herfindahl Hirschman Index. Despite the studies on the establishment of the liberal market such as the envisagement of Law No: 4628 and the strategy paper, this thesis study envisages that it is still not possible to talk about a liberal electricity market. In addition, it is also concluded that the statements outlined in Laws No: 5654 and 5686 hinder the overall liberalization efforts since these laws are postponing the liberalization of electricity sector and making the life span of TETAS longer. As a result, liberalization efforts on the electricity market are unsuccessful in the mean term and TETAS seems to hold its dominance position in the wholesale market as a state-owned wholesale trading company in the long run.

Portland General Electric has proposed coupling one or more water tanks with two heat pumps in order to perform load-shifting in residential customer heating and cooling applications. By using the water tanks as a thermal storage unit, this project attempts to partially decouple energy consumption from generation to provide peak demand reduction and to better facilitate the integration of variable renewable energy resources. A scoping study was performed to evaluate the potential impact of this project if implemented in single family homes in Portland, Oregon. This study revealed that the system could provide meaningful savings in the cost of electricity to both the customer and utility. Additionally, an optimization algorithm was developed to dictate system operation and to maximize gains to the utility. Evolutionary algorithms were explored in an attempt to increase the effectiveness of the algorithm's search in limited computation time. Ultimately, an evolution strategy was selected as the most suitable based on tests run in winter and spring months. A genetic algorithm was then developed to handle fixed-speed heat pump operation for compatibility with an alpha-system prototype that has been developed by the research team.

The competitiveness of an enterprise may rely heavily on its sound managerial efficiency and productivity; thus, an improvement of efficiency and productivity could become an important tactical strategy of firms. Resulting from prolong economic and technological environmental change, Taiwan Power company is confronting an ever before competition. Likewise, his electric power engineering contractors are in the same market conditions. Under this circumstances, an accurately estimation of the efficiency and productivity of the contractors become a critical issue to their sustainable growth. However, only a few studies has investigated this effect in the efficiency literature in Taiwan. Use an Taichung-based electrical industry contractor, this study adopt production meta-frontier approach to empirically examine its technical efficiency and scale efficiency over the period from 2007 to 2012. In the hope that the empirical finding of the study can fill up the gap of the literature and provide useful information to the management of contractor. The empirical suggest that the meta-frontier approach outperform the tradition DEA approach. The sample firm should avoid to expand its operational scale.

Logistics is the battlefield for enterprises nowadays. No matter it is a private enterprise or a state-owned enterprise, they all hopes to obtain benefits by reducing logistics costs. Transportation is an important part of logistics activities. According to statistics, transportation costs account for an average of 44% of logistics costs, accounting for a large proportion of total logistics costs. Therefore, we can infer that if the transportation network is properly planned, it will greatly reduce transportation costs, increase profits and enhance competitive advantage for corporation. This study focus on the material distribution route planning of a power company in Taiwan, and takes the logistics network from the first to the second level of the power company as the research scope.Take the actual data to analylze, and designs six kinds of situations to explore. The problem of this research is about vehicle route problem. The vehicle routing problem has been proven as an NP-hard problem (Lenstra and Kan, 1981). When the number of nodes increases, the solution time grows rapidly, and it is more difficult to solve the problem. In order to simplify the complexity of the research and improve the efficiency, in order to meet the practical operation, this study will adopt the method called “Cluster first, route second” and propose a four-stage method to plan the distribution mode of the case power company. The first stage is to divide the distribution scope of the two logistics centers. In the second stage, this study proposes four clustering models for grouping within the distribution area of the logistics center. In the third stage, cluster adjustment is carried out. According to the different situation, this study proposes four adjustment algorithms to obtain better results. The fourth phase is to construct each cluster route, which will be considered as a travel salesman problem to solve. The result reveals that the distribution mode proposed in this study is better than the current distribution mode in terms of indicators of total travel distances and total ton-kilometer . It represents that the distribution mode proposed in this study can solve the high transportation costs problem of the case company.

Electric power industry is the basic in all industries and the development of industry is very important to living. However, Electric power industry bent on free competition tendency that could be change the value of the industry in future. This paper attempts to discuss the value of Taiwan Power Company in electric power industry. Applying case study method, this paper collects the Taiwan Power Company to evaluate business value. First of all, in order to catch on a company profile, we assembled industrial data, and then compiling outside and inside operating information to find out external opportunities and threats, as well as internal superiorities and inferiorities. Second, we acquired financial reports to understand the financial situation. Finally, gathering all information and completed the evaluation. This paper used three different estimates to calculate , and found that company’s per share stock price lies in between NT$24 and NT$26. In order to promote valuation, we suggested that the company should reduce operating expenses. To such an extent as to increase competitive advantages, create the higher value in competitive market.

Electric power industry is one of leading industries to promote national development. It has high industry relevance, high technical and security requirements level and domestic market oriented. In recent years the electric power market has shrunk drastically due to the change of industry trend and open market for foreign products Competition in the domestic market is becoming severe. This study is aimed to investigate the strategy to increase the competition capability of electric power company. Diamond theory was used to analyze the industrial environment. Five forces analysis and SWOT analysis were applied to evaluate the case company. Research results indicate that the competition capacity could be improved through (1) improvement of automation of production, (2) upgrading the technical level and product transformation and (3)strengthening strategic alliance relationship and expanding overseas markets.

The purposes of this study were: 1. understand the residents in the neighborhood or different regions how to use the waste area of Taiwan Power Company’s Heping power plant; 2. describe the view differences of the residents in the neighborhood or different regions on recycling of the same area; 3.conduct the expert reliability appraisal according to the 5 indicators include leisure facility activation, leisure material control, material recycling, leisure ecological environment, and activating local economy. The collected data were analyzed using independent sample t-test, one-way ANOVA, and analysis of reliability and validity. The study results were concluded as below: 1. The views of different gender were significant differences on leisure site operation. 2. Regarding results of the one-way ANOVA on the 5 aspects: all residents of different ages were no significant difference; all residents in various regions were significant differences; the residents having different education degrees were significant differences on leisure facility activation, material recycling and leisure ecological environment, but no differences on leisure material control and activating local economy; the residents of different occupations were significant differences on leisure facility activation, leisure material control, material recycling and leisure ecological environment, only was no differences on activating local economy. 3. The results based on the independent t test reveal: (1) the significant view differences of residents with different gender were on material recycling and leisure ecological environment, but their views have no differences on leisure facility activation, leisure material control and activating local economy; (2) the results derived from one-way ANOVA showed that the residents of different ages had no significantly different views on the five indicators; (3) the residents lived in different regions had significantly different views on all of the indicators; (4) The views of the residents having different education degrees were significant differences on leisure facility activation, material recycling and leisure ecological environment. (5) the residents with various occupation have significantly different on leisure facility activation, leisure material control, material recycling and leisure ecological environment. This study focuses on 316 valid samples responded from 27 questions including 5 indicators. The reliability of the study results was very good based on the value of the Chronbach’s Alpha was 0.925.

The overall objective of the study is to evaluate the relationship between employee satisfaction’s antecedents and operating performance in Ha Giang Electric Power Company. To serve to solve the research objectives above, the author composed some relevant research questions, including (1) What are the theories of employee satisfaction in term of literature review?, (2) What are the antecedents of employee satisfaction in term of literature review?, and (3) How to measure the operating performance in Ha Giang Electric Power Company through employee satisfaction antecedents? The employee satisfaction proves the determining role of satisfaction towards job and working environment, employee engagement and employee loyalty are concluded to be the causal outcomes of the employee satisfaction. As a consequence, this leads to the increase of the employee loyalty and attachment to the firm if the employees finds great endeavor in the job they are undertaking. As for Melissa (2004), the employee satisfaction should be broken down into 07 antecedents such as Physical Work Environment, Communication, Leadership, Supervision and Management Effectiveness, Teamwork, Pay and Opportunities, Career Development and Training, The Employee Promise. Mani (2010) offered to assess the employee satisfaction by the employee satisfaction index (ESI). As proved by Net Survey, ESI is constructed based on the employee satisfaction scorecard included many precious factors to firm. Each factors, then will be given a score weight base on the important level among these factors and given different scores for different attributes in one factors. Finally, ESI will be calculated by summing up the score weight of each factor after multiplying this weight with score of factor’s attributes.Using quantitative research method, the author identified that organizational commitment and job satisfaction can describe for 37.5% of changes in organizational commitment and it is explained by the fact that job satisfaction in Ha Giang Electricity Company is very low.

Abstract The customers and the employees are believed to be two of the main stakeholders of any organization. Therefore the service quality, the leadership, the career development and training are receiving the interest and invested more than ever. However, in the recent time, the company found some deficiency in the operation such as: the negative feedback from the customer on the unstable electric supply, the unfriendly service staff attitude…; the complaints from the employees that they don’t receive the high appreciation of their effort, the adequate guide in their work from the leader, the absence of professional training. Moreover, in the first half of this business year, along with these problems in the company operation, the executives also notice that the revenues of the company does not increase as much as the previous time and tend to be stay back. In such important company of supplying the public service, this phenomenon symbolize that it needs a lot of reassessment as well as the rational suggestion on how to solve these problem to boost the revenues again consistently in the long run. In this research, the author proposes to use the SPSS as the most favorite software in analyzing data. This software will accommodate three major tools which are relevant to the researched topic, consists: reliability analysis of the survey scale, and linear regression. Data analysis shows that revenue is considered as dependent variable while independent variables include service quality, leadership type, and career development and training. Achieved results show that adjusted R-Square of these relationships is calculated at 0.513, meaning that 51.3% of changes in revenues can be explained by service quality, leadership type, and career development and training level at Ha Giang Province Electric Power Company. Furthermore, partial correlation coefficients of service quality, leadership type, and career development and training factors are estimated at 0.218, 0.343, and 0.247 respectively so that all hypotheses in Chapter II are accepted. Additionally, using standardized partial correlation coefficients, it is concluded that leadership factor has highest impact to revenue of Ha Giang Province Electronic Power Company (standardized coefficients = 0.469).

Power Transmission Tower is a structure with light weight, high flexibility and low natural frequencies and is sensitive to horizontal loadings, especially the wind and seismic loads. These two kinds of horizontal loads might lead to long-term fatigue or sudden failure and finally cause abnormal condition of power supply. Upper part of a tower structure is sensitive to wind loads and lower part is sensitive to earthquake。This thesis presents the application of ANSYS with APDL to dynamic analysis and passive control of power transmission tower of Taiwan Electric Company using added mass, viscous damping and stiffness adjustment. Based on the finite element method (FEM), we employ Beam 4 element to build the numerical model of the tower. In order to conduct passive control synthesis, MASS 21element, COMBIN 14element, and LINK 10element, are employed for modeling the added mass, added viscous dashpot and added stiffener. Then natural vibration and time-domain dynamic responses analyses of the tower are conducted. APDL languages are coded for dynamic analysis of two seismic excitations, the 1940 El Centro and the 1995 Kobe ground accelerations. A benchmark test was performed first and then a real power transmission tower of Taiwan Electric Company was conducted and the results are reasonable. Numerical examples include: (1) Free vibration analysis (2) Dynamic response analysis (3) Passive control synthesis. The research found that three passive controls with added masses, viscous dashpots and stiffeners can adjust the dynamic performance of the electric power transmission towel. The design of added viscous dashpot can effectively reduce the dynamic responses; while added masses and stiffeners should be designed carefully in order not to result in reversal effects.

The power and electric utilities sector is transforming in today’s digital era and fast changing business environment. Disruptive industry trends such as decarbonization, digitization and decentralization are set to start a revolutionary shift on the sector and are converting it to a more enticing, high-tech magnet for a multitude of new players. Portugal is no exception, and the recent liberalization of the market, opened the doors for new competitors, and the levels of innovation were expected to increase. The aim of this dissertation, as requested by Energias de Portugal (EDP) in the form of a consulting Project, is to identify a new business model, to develop a business plan for one of the most prominent ideas, and to give some recommendations regarding the proposed business model. In order to identify possible new business models ideas, it was developed a benchmark study with players from both inside and outside of the power and electric utilities sector and then filtered them, using a set of criteria, to come up with the final idea. Once the final idea was defined, it was developed a business plan, starting with an industry analysis, followed by a go to market strategy, estimation of the market size, a financial plan and a time frame with the different implementation phases. Furthermore, a survey was also developed and determined that consumers seem to be willing to adopt the power bank sharing service. The analysis to the survey showed which variables may affect the consumers actual system use.
O setor da energia tem-se vindo a transformar na era digital e no ambiente de rápida mudança em que vivemos atualmente. Novas tendências disruptivas do setor como a descarbonização, a digitalização e a descentralização preparam-se para originar uma mudança radical no setor e têm-no tornado mais aliciante e mais atrativo para novas empresas entrarem no mercado. Portugal não é exceção, e a liberalização do mercado da eletricidade abriu as portas a novos competidores e é esperado que desponte a inovação. O objetivo desta dissertação, conforme solicitado pelo grupo Energias de Portugal (EDP), no formato de projeto de consultoria, consiste na identificação de novos modelos de negócio, no desenvolvimento de um plano de negócios para a ideia mais promissora e ainda fazer recomendações para a implementação do mesmo. De modo a identificar possíveis novos modelos de negócios, foi desenvolvido um estudo de benchmarking com empresas de dentro e fora do setor da energia e consequentemente foram filtradas as ideias resultantes de modo a ficar com a ideia final. Em seguida foi elaborado um plano de negócios começando com uma análise da indústria, seguido de uma estratégia para entrar no mercado, uma estimativa do tamanho do mercado, um plano financeiro e um cronograma com as diferentes fases para a implementação. Além disso, foi criado um questionário, que revelou que os consumidores parecem estar dispostos a usar o serviço de aluguer de power banks. A análise do mesmo revelou ainda que variáveis podem ter impacto na utilização deste serviço por parte dos consumidores.

This research is directing against the 24 distribution system of Taiwan electric power company, we employed the data envelopment analysis (DEA) model as the main measurement method. In addition, this thesis also considers the concept of four major constructs of Balanced Scorecard on the choice of the indices, employed these four major constructs to expand the indices that can chosen and understand the operation efficiency of the distribution system of Taiwan electric power company from financial, customer, internal process and learning and growth perspective. The DEA models basing on the data of 2004-2007 provide CCR efficiency, the results of this study indicated that the comprehensive model is valuable and that there are significant relationships among the four perspectives of the balanced scorecard. Furthermore, the results of applying DEA into the balanced scorecards to measure performance efficiency of the distribution system of Taiwan electric power company showed the efficiency frontiers and benchmarking distributions which can tell the input and slack of every distribution. The information could be very helpful for managers to identify the goals of improvement. This study also proved that lead in the balanced scorecards can improve the performance efficiency better compared with the responsibility center system applying currently.

Dong Van is a county of Ha Giang province as the polar county in the North of Vietnam. The County stretches along 446.66 km2 which is the accommodation of the 63,254 people (2008) with 11,069 households. In there, 61,845 people are minority people and the poverty rate is almost 52 percent of the county total population. Dong Van County has the total 19 official units consisting of towns and villages with the economy thriving mainly on the agricultural and tourism activities. The core content of the research is to reflect the customer satisfaction with service quality in Ha Giang Electric Power Company in Dong Van County Vietnam. This general target is broken down as the following specific research objectives and questions. The study’s approach is through survey data collected from random sample of people who are living in Dong Van County with scales is set upon on Likert scale concept. This survey will help the author to measure perceived service quality and customer satisfaction about a certain public services, namely electricity.

In order to improve service quality and user satisfaction, most business operators focused on the issues like overall image, growth strategies, operating performance, organizational change management strategy, decision-making model and a measure of the contribution. Past scholars service quality, user satisfaction studies, from the user point of view there is little to discuss research user interactive communication and satisfaction direction, therefore, the present study lead to T's electrical inspection services, for example, ways to enhance business operators service quality, social networks and user satisfaction of motivation. This research literature review to T's use of voltage in high voltage (11,000 volts) or more users (or electrical technician) for the object, using a questionnaire, to understand the business tangible test facilities, test reliability, quality, inspection processing reactivity, service quality assurance testing, inspection services will meet five dimensions of care, etc., and in three dimensions of social influence of social networks, network centrality, solidarity, etc., confirm each service quality impact on user satisfaction, the impact of service quality and satisfaction of social networks by the impact of social networks on user satisfaction, and to make specific recommendations as T corporate decision-making reference period can be improved, overall satisfaction. Validation results show that service quality has a positive effect on customer satisfaction, service quality has a positive impact on social networks, social networks have a positive effect on customer satisfaction. Also finishing summarized the research findings, theoretical and practical implications, limitations and future research proposals.

Abstract Recently, the electric wires and cables belonging to Taiwan Power Company are stolen throughout the country. The problem has a serious effect on the safety about the people's property and using electric. The Government makes an attempt on banning stealing activities, and a conference crossing some Ministries is convened for publishing the policies to solve the problem. This research focus on the First Team of Environment Protect Police executes the government's policies and the result. First, the research motivations and objectives in chapter one are expounded to confirm the research arrangement, and to understand the channel of disposing stolen goods by the relation between recycling and disposal of stolen goods. The literature review in chapter two introduces some theories about executing, preventing crime, and others in enactments, and previews the executive intensity belongs to which level in executing the policies. In order to survey whether the executive staffs possess executive ability or not under the theoretical structure, chapter three focus on interpreting current executing condition and the executive activities that are tried to carry out by related departments. Chapter four interprets and analyzes that through deeply interview with executive staffs to realize the trouble caused by executing and the performance. Chapter five combines the topics which are treated in preceding chapters and personal viewpoint to advance the opinion about preventing the channel of disposing stolen electric wires and cables belonging to Taiwan Power Company, instance of executing condition of the First Team of Environment Protect Police. The research discovers that by way of upgrading the intentions of executive staffs in the First Team of Environment Protect Police, the executing performance is better indeed. It will trend to reduce the channel of disposing stolen electric wires and cables, and the objective to keeping public security will be achieved.

Resumen
AGL Electricity (AGLE) is one of the four privately owned electricity distribution companies in the Australian State of Victoria. Due to its operations in a regulated environment, AGLE's objective is to meet the distribution network performance standards set by the Victorian government's Essential Services Commission (ESC). Two performance measures are of major importance: average minutes off supply per customer and average number of intermptions per customer. These performance measures are adversely impacted by unplanned outages caused by faults occurring mainly on overhead distribution feeders. To improve these two performance measures, there has been a need to implement a scheme on AGLE's overhead distribution network that would contain long term effects of a fault within the feeder section that directly experienced the fault, leaving the remaining feeder sections and their customers on supply. To achieve this goal a means of fault detection and location, augmented by automatic isolation of the faulty feeder section, is required. To that extent, AGLE was faced with a dilemma presented by typical fault detection and location scheme applications on complex distribution networks, i.e. reliable fault location resolution versus affordable implementation and maintenance costs. Resumen
The provision of reliable, safe, affordable and accessible power supply is one of the most important cornerstones for economic development, particularly for third world countries. Notwithstanding all known benefits of power supply, there are environmental risks associated with electricity generation, transmission and usage that need to be identified, assessed and managed. These risks range from minor to major risks such as serious bodily harm and fatalities as well as environmental degradation. In order to minimise and control the operational risks, it is key for the sector to ensure that the risks are identified and assessed using appropriate tools and systems to ensure sustainability and safe work environments. This study explored, improved and designed a tool for environmental risk assessment within Swaziland Electricity Company, (SEC) based on clause 4.3.1 of ISO 14001 (2004), Environmental Management System and Occupational Health and Safety Assessment Series, OHSAS 18001 (2007), Occupational Health and Safety System. The previous risk assessment and evaluation tool used in the company ignored existing risk control practices employed and thus did not truly quantify identified risks. The methodology presented in this study focused on the identification of hazards/aspects and risks associated with processes in electricity generation, transmission and distribution. Risks were evaluated and all possible measures to control the identified risks were suggested. The top three significant hazards identified include; exposure to live wires, road hazards and the use of uncertified/ defective/wrong equipment and/or machinery whilst the significant impacts were: soil pollution, natural resource degradation/ depletion, loss of flora and fauna and social impacts. The distribution department was observed to have the most environmental risks when compared to the other departments. The developed tool and data could be used as baseline information by other sectors wishing to implement environment and safety systems. It will also continually improve the safety and environmental performance of SEC.
