Resumen
This study aims to investigate the impact of anchovy (Engraulis encrasicolus) oil produced in different factories on the fatty acid composition and quality indicators. The study utilizes anchovy oils obtained from three different factories. Fatty acid analysis was conducted using gas chromatography, and the results were expressed as percentages. Additionally, fatty acid quality indices such as atherogenic index (AI), thrombogenic index (TI), Polyene index (PI), and hypocholesterolemic/hypercholesterolemic ratio (h/H) were calculated. The findings of the study indicate that different processing technologies may influence the fatty acid composition of anchovy oil. Anchovy oils were observed to be rich in polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFA) and notably contain omega-3 fatty acids such as DHA (docosahexaenoic acid) and EPA (eicosapentaenoic acid). This study provides valuable insights into anchovy oil production and quality, offering an in-depth understanding of sustainable nutrition. In conclusion, this study sheds light on a significant issue in the anchovy oil industry and may guide researchers and industry experts interested in improving the quality of fish oil products and supporting human health with potential opportunities.

Resumen
The North Coast of Central Java is a key location where 12% of Indonesia's anchovy catch, or 23,560 tons, is produced by purse seine fishing. We used the FPIs tool, which has 68 different measures scored from 1 to 5 by experts, to evaluate the environmental, economic, and community performance of the anchovy fishing industry on Java's north coast. The result shows that the community pillar performs relatively better (an average score of 3.6) than the ecology and economy pillars, only 2.63 and 2.68, respectively. This research highlights the overcapacity of the fishery and the decreased trend of the anchovy's abundance index, indicating the fishery's unperformed ecology and economic dimension. This research suggests that despite the fishery's poor ecological and economic performance, the local community's dependence on anchovy resources remains high, as suggested by significant involvement in the fishing and processing of the catch and ownership of most vessels the local fishers possess.

Resumen
Anchovies (Stolephorus indicus) are abundant in both macro and micronutrients, including protein, carbohydrates, fat, and calcium. Their rich nutritive value has led to numerous applications in the food industry, particularly in fortifying food products for vulnerable groups. Proximate analysis is indispensable in the food industry for product development and quality control. The objectives of this study were to assess the proximate composition and functional properties of anchovy powder obtained through oven drying and foam mat drying. The characterization of anchovy powder encompassed functional properties, such as water solubility index, water absorption capacity, and physical parameters like colour and bulk density, as well as proximate chemical parameters. The results demonstrated that the protein content of anchovy powder obtained through oven drying was significantly higher than that from foam mat drying (p<0.05). The primary component of fish powders was protein (71.43±0.14%), followed by lipids (4.45±0.06%), ash (14.59±0.09%), moisture (8.55±0.01%), and carbohydrates (1.00±0.01%). Nevertheless, increasing the quantity of foaming agent did not enhance the solubility or water absorption capacity of the anchovy powder, despite the concurrent increase in its protein content.

Resumen
Anchovies are among the largest fish catch worldwide. The anchovy fillet industry generates a huge amount of biowaste (e.g., fish heads, bones, tails) that can be used for the extraction of several potentially valuable bioproducts including omega-3 lipids. Following the extraction of valued fish oil rich in omega-3, vitamin D3 and zeaxanthin from anchovy fillet leftovers using biobased limonene in a fully circular process, the solid residue (anchovy sludge) was used as starting substrate for the production of biogas by anaerobic digestion. In spite of the unbalanced carbon to nitrogen (C/N) ratio, typical of marine biowaste, the anchovy sludge showed a good methane yield (about 280 mLCH4·gVS−1), proving to be an ideal substrate for co-digestion along with other carbon rich wastes and residues. Furthermore, the presence of residual limonene, used as a renewable, not-toxic and edible extraction solvent, does not affect the microbial methanogenesis. The results reported in this study demonstrate that anchovy leftovers after the fish oil extraction process can be efficiently used as a starting co-substrate for the production of biogas in a modern biorefinery.

Resumen
Abstract Traditional dried anchovy processing from the Kei archipelago is very simple that is only through the process of drying by spreading the fish on the net or tarpaulins on the side of the road under direct sunlight. The purpose of this study was to profile the traditional dried anchovy product from Selayar Village, Southeast Maluku, including processors, businesses, and constraints faced. This study used a descriptive method to describe the profile of dried anchovy, processing, business, and constraints faced. The business profile is done through questionnaires and interviews. Data were processed using Microsoft Office Excel. The quality of dry anchovy products was considered good with the advantages of protein and mineral content. The dry anchovy production business from Selayar village is a home industry business and is an ancestral heritage and involves processors who graduated from Elementary School and High School. Marketing at the producer level is classified smoothly and conducted in the village by consumers, especially collecting merchants. Processing was done in the catch season without special treatment that is only by drying the fish with the sun so it takes a long time and very much depends on the weather.

Resumen
Abstract Sago (Metroxylon sp.) is a local food commodity producing carbohydrates that can be used as an alternative to wheat flour in noodle making. The weakness of sago starch is its relatively low protein content. Adding anchovy flour (S. Indicus) can increase the nutritional value of dried sago noodles. This study aims to evaluate the feasibility of investment, namely the study of technical and economic performance in establishing a dry noodle industry based on sago flour enriched with anchovy flour. The research uses descriptive methods to obtain an overview of situations or events. The analysis uses primary and secondary data from direct observation in the production process and literature studies. The results showed that technical performance could be achieved at a production capacity of 10 kg of sago flour per day with a yield of 85%. This industry has an NPV value of IDR 114,882,352, an IRR of 35.36%, a Net B/C of 1.08, and a PBP of 37 months. Based on the techno-economic study, the industrial design of dry noodles based on sago flour and anchovy flour is feasible to run.

Resumen
Anchovies are the small pelagic fish that belongs to the family of Engraulidae dominant all over the Indo-Pacific region, which account for human consumption and as feed for other larger fish. Anchovies are rich in macronutrients and micronutrients such as protein, carbohydrate, fat and amino acids. In addition, anchovy is composed of well-balanced amino acid compositions containing eight essential amino acids and eight non-essential amino acids. The nutritive value of anchovies has become the reason for numerous food applications. Proximate analysis is vital in the food industry for the development and quality controls of food products. Knowledge and information regarding the proximate composition of fish are essential in the food processing technology of fish products at commercial and industrial scales. Additionally, this review highlights both conventional and innovative anchovy-based food items. The review demonstrated that anchovies have several possible breakthroughs in the food industry, as shown by their proximate composition and the amino acid profiles used in various food items.

The research performed a sustainability assessment of supply chains of the anchoveta (Engraulis ringens) in Peru. The corresponding fisheries lands 6.5 million t per year, of which <2% is rendered into products for direct human consumption (DHC) and 98% reduced into feed ingredients (fishmeal and fish oil, FMFO), for export. Several industries compete for the anchoveta resources, generating local and global impacts. The need for understanding these dynamics, towards sustainability-improving management and policy recommendations, determined the development of a sustainability assessment framework: 1) characterisation and modelling of the systems under study (with Life Cycle Assessment and other tools) including local aquaculture, 2) calculation of sustainability indicators (i.e. energy efficiency, nutritional value, socio-economic performances), and 3) definition and comparison of alternative exploitation scenarios. Future exploitation scenarios were defined by coupling an ecosystem and a material flow models: continuation of the status quo (Scenario 1), shift towards increased proportion of DHC production (Scenario 2), and radical reduction of the anchoveta harvest in order for other fish stocks to recover and be exploited for DHC (Scenario 3). Scenario 2 was identified as the most sustainable.Management and policy recommendations include improving of: controls for compliance with management measures, sanitary conditions for DHC, landing infrastructure for small- and medium-scale (SMS) fisheries; the development of a national refrigerated distribution chain; and the assignation of flexible tolerances for discards from different DHC processes

Resumen
This research focused on the relationship between self-esteem and career anchors in the context of career development. The objectives of the study were twofold. The first was to establish the relationship between individuals’ self-esteem (as measured by the Culture Free Self-Esteem Inventory) and career anchors (as measured by the Career Orientations Inventory); and the second was to determine if self-esteem significantly predict career anchors. An online survey was administered to a non-probability, convenience sample (n = 77) of full-time individuals, employed adults at managerial and general staff levels, in the South African financial services industry. The sample consisted of predominantly married (58.4%), white (44.2%), females (57.1%) between the ages 35 and 44 years (32.5%). The Culture Free Self-Esteem Inventory for Adults (CFSEI 2-AD) and Career Orientations Inventory (COI) were used to gather data. Correlational analysis showed an association between the variables of CFSEI 2-AD and COI. A multiple regression analysis supported that self-esteem predict career anchors. Recommendations were suggested for use by human resource professionals to inform the career development of employees in the South African financial service industry.

Resumen
This thesis analyzes the economic health of the dining establishments in Downtown San Diego, CA, specifically in the vicinity of Petco Park. Opened in 2004, Petco Park is home to the San Diego Padres, a Major League Baseball franchise. In addition, it serves as a venue for outdoor concerts and shows. The venue is used for most of the year due to an expanded Major League Baseball schedule, especially compared to other professional sports. Much of the transformation of San Diego’s Downtown can be attributed to the late 1990’s East Village Revitalization Plan, which included municipal anchors like the San Diego Central Library, the San Diego Convention Center, and Petco Park. By looking at the restaurant industry as of 2019, this thesis strives to provide a better understanding of how an urban entertainment anchor provides grounds for mutually beneficial conditions to small businesses. Additionally, this thesis integrates the concept of economic health into the larger field of knowledge around urban professional sports stadia. Further, this thesis aims to burgeon a framework for taxonomic research of professional sports stadia.

Gebremichael, Tamrat Haile. "Organisational culture in internationally federated non-profit organisations : the importance of industry and governance". Thesis, 2018. http://hdl.handle.net/10500/25135.

Texto completo
Resumen
In the era of globalisation, organisations around the world have increasingly become stages of global diversity where multi-cultural workforces interact in teams on a daily basis. International organisations, in particular, are a characteristic display of cross-cultural interaction. The study of organisational culture in a multi-cultural organisational environment is receiving growing attention due to a pressing need to understand and manage the consequences of cross-cultural interaction and achieve better organisational outcomes. However, so far, studies in the area have focused on multinational for-profit organisations and neglected other industry and governance, missing opportunities for broader and richer understanding in the field. The present study covered a case of an internationally federated complex non-profit organisation and captured new insights, thereby contributing to theory and enriching the empirical evidence in the field of study. The results shed light on the importance of industry and governance, and provoked critical questions for further research. The unique features of non-profit and federated governance culture depicted the opportunities for cross-learning with other industries. The study highlighted the distinct formation of conventional cultural dimensions contributing to cultural cohesion and cushioning the federation against excessive fragmentation. The dimensions of institutional collectivism, in-group collectivism, power distance and uncertainty avoidance depicted interesting behaviours in the study context. These dimensions dominated behaviour and have rendered other dimensions subservient. Cultural behaviours, such as cultural-anchoring and power grouping, transpired as unique findings to the industry and governance, where consensus and fragmentation have played integrative and accommodative roles. Dominant dimensions determined direction and intensity in subservient dimensions irrespective of values espoused by leadership in the subservient dimensions. The line between organisational politics and the ingroup collectivism dimension was blurred, calling for further research in the field of organisational behaviour. Further research in the field could focus on shaping organisational cultural dimensions fit for diverse industry and governance contexts, identifying areas of cross-fertilisation of learning, investigating the significance of dominant versus subservient dimensions in the process of organisational cultural change, and broadening the knowledge base in the field by studying diverse organisational typologies.

Resumen
AbstractIn recent years, with the continuous development of China’s construction industry, the site selection of construction projects has become more and more complex, and more and more construction projects have encountered deep and complex filling problems. This paper is based on a project in the north of China, which is a deep and complex filling slope and the support form is pile-anchor support. Considering the risk of deep and complex soil filling on slope stability, in order to ensure the construction quality and safety, the double-pipe split anchor test is studied and analyzed. Through the comparison of engineering test, numerical simulation and actual monitoring data, it is shown that the scheme has a good effect on improving the quality of anchor, and has certain guiding significance for similar projects.

Resumen
AbstractThis chapter introduces the notion of ‘regimes of ethics’ to explore the diverse ways that ethics is articulated in corporate capitalism, particularly in industries that are involved in the extraction of natural resources such as oil and gas. I show how companies draw on corporate social responsibility frameworks as public-facing demonstrations of ethics for stakeholder engagement, while also generating greater company loyalty and pride among employees. While corporate social responsibility (CSR) provides an explicit corporate strategy, the professional codes of ethics that apply to engineering practices in the USA specifically anchor ethics in individual decision-making. Animated by a generally conservative, if not stultifying, ethos, engineering ethics sees practices such as whistleblowing and breaking ranks as epitomising individual ethical action. Co-existing with and sometimes challenging these two formal regimes of ethics are also industry actors’ own moral convictions. This third regime of ethics draws on my ethnographic research in the oil and gas industry in Colorado, USA. By discussing these various articulations of ethics, my aim is to take seriously formal rules and codes as well as industry actors’ own ethical sensibilities. I suggest that rather than existing as entrenched hardened moral worlds, these multiple and competing regimes of ethics indicate the underdetermined nature of ethical life.

Resumen
AbstractIn this chapter, we highlight the importance and value of key Environmental Research Infrastructures, and how these can act as anchor points for long-term environmental observations and facilitate interdisciplinary environmental research. We briefly summarize the development of these efforts in South and southern Africa over the last three decades and from this perspective discuss how their successful maintenance and further implementation may turn such RIs into important anchor points for long-term environmental scientific work in support of environmental sustainability, national commitments under selected international policy discussions, and societal well-being. The fundamental role of Environmental Research Infrastructures is multifold and includes the provision of data that enable reporting and policy development, the provision of validation sites in the development of new observational sensors, measurement techniques and models, and the provision facilities for training of scientists and technicians. Humanity currently faces a number of global crises, including the impact of changes in the climate, resulting in droughts, floods, fires, storms, and other extreme events. These crises are significantly stressing and transforming the lives and livelihoods of the vast majority of humanity. The societal response to these events is dependent on the availability of scientific knowledge and its effective transfer to governance structures, industry, and the broader society. In order to effectively address these challenges, large amounts of long-term social-ecological data are required across a broad range of intersecting disciplines that are available for analysis by the scientific community. Research Infrastructures have the ability to act as anchor points in the provision and utilization of this data, and the development of indigenous capacity to develop the observations and technical skills.

Resumen
AbstractThe Gaia-X project was initiated in 2019 by the German and French Ministers of Economy to ensure that companies would not lose control of their industrial data when it is hosted by non-EU cloud service providers.Since then, Gaia-X holds an international association presence in Belgium with more than 334 members, representing both users and providers across 20 countries and 16 national hubs and 5 candidate countries. The Association aims to increase the adoption of cloud services and accelerate data exchanges by European businesses through the facilitation of business data sovereignty with jointly approved (user and provider) policy rules on data portability and interoperability.Although for many enterprises, data sovereignty is seen as a prerequisite for using the cloud, a significant driver to boost the digital economy in business is incentivizing business data sharing. Two decades of cost optimization have constrained business value creation, driving many companies to neglect the opportunity to create shared value within a wider industry ecosystem. Now, thanks to the participation of large numbers of cloud users in the domains of Finance, Health, Energy, Automotive, Travel Aeronautics, Manufacturing, Agriculture, and Mobility, among others, Gaia-X is ideally positioned to help industries define appropriate data spaces and identify/develop compelling use cases, which can then be jointly deployed to a compliant-by-design platform architecture under the Gaia-X specifications, trust, and labeling frameworks. The creation of national Gaia-X hubs that act as independent think tanks, ambassadors, or influencers of the Association further facilitates the emergence of new data spaces and use/enabler cases at a country level, before these are subsequently extended to a European scope and beyond. Gaia-X partners share the view that data spaces will play a similar role in digital business as the web played 40 years ago to help the Internet take off.The Gaia-X Working Groups are at the core of the Gaia-X discussions and deliverables. There are three committees: the Technical, the Policies and Rules, and the Data Spaces and Business. The Technical Committee focus on key architectural elements and their evolution, such as and not limited to: Identity and Access Management: bridge the traditional X509 realm and new SSI realm, creating a decentralized network of identity federations Service Composition: how to assemble services in order to create new services with higher added value Self-Description: how to build digital trust at scale with measurable and comparable criteria The Policy and Rules Committee creates the deliverables required to develop the Gaia-X framework (compliance requirements, labels and qualification processes, credentials matrix, contractual agreements, etc.): The Labels and Qualification working group defines the E2E process for labels and qualification, from defining and evolving the levels of label, the process for defining new labels, and identifying and certifying existing CABS. The Credentials and Trust Anchors working group will develop and maintain a matrix of credentials and their verification methods to enable the implementation of compliance through automation, contractual clauses, certifications, or other methods. The Compliance working group collects compliance requirements from all sources to build a unique compliance requirements pool. The Data Spaces Business Committee helps the Association expanding and accelerating the creation of new Gaia-X service in the market: The Finance working group focuses on business modeling and supports the project office of the Association. The Technical working group analyzes the technical requirements from a business perspective. The Operational Requirements working group is the business requirements unit. The Hub working groups hold close contact with all Gaia-X Hubs and support the collection and creation of the Gaia-X use and business cases. These working groups maintain the international list of all use cases and data spaces and coordinate the Hubs.

Resumen
The most important form of artificial intelligence technology applied in the broadcasting and hosting industry is “artificial intelligence anchor”. In the context of artificial intelligence, today’s artificial intelligence anchors have received great technical improvements in terms of image, language appearance, and humanized demeanor. Artificial intelligence anchors serve the audience as well as traditional hosts. Through the research and analysis of artificial intelligence anchors, summarize the advantages of artificial intelligence anchors, guide the future development direction of traditional anchors, and hand over low-level repetitive work to artificial intelligence. The completion of the anchor allows traditional anchors to have more time and energy to dig deep into the work of high-level broadcasting and hosting. This research can provide practical guidance for AI anchors to be better selected and accepted by the audience, so that traditional anchors and artificial intelligence anchors can find growth points in the development of the times, so that artificial intelligence anchors and traditional anchors can play a role in broadcasting and hosting. A good cooperation model has been formed in the industry.

Resumen
As the water depth of hydrocarbon discoveries becomes deeper, the technological challenges related to the design of mooring systems increases. Changing from steel catenary mooring systems (CMS) to fibre rope taut mooring systems (TMS) has been accompanied by an immense focus on how to qualify and approve fibre rope material for use in a TMS. This involves items related to specifications for manufacturing, handling and testing fibre ropes, as well as calibration of safety factors to use in the design of TMSs. One consequence of moving to a TMS is that the anchors will have to take more uplift load than in a conventional CMS, which makes the anchors a more critical component of the mooring system than before. The types of anchor normally available to the designer of a TMS are pile anchors, suction anchors and various types of plate anchors. Anchors of all types are designed and installed in ever-deeper water, but the safety of the designed mooring systems varies with the design code adopted. There is thus an obvious need for an industry standard, a design code for each anchor type that is calibrated based on structural reliability analysis using the current experience and knowledge in the industry. This paper compares anchor design codes that use total safety factors (TSF) with the DNV design code that uses partial safety factors and failure consequence classes. Examples of design codes for station-keeping systems that adopt the TSF format are API RP2SK and (assumed herein) the ISO code, which is under development. The comparison demonstrates that use of the safety format adopted in the DNV code provides more flexibility and ensures a uniform safety level of all components in a mooring system than the TSF format. If all types of anchor were designed to the same safety level it would be possible to compare anchors without worrying about differences in safety. A typical approach for calibration of a design code is described.

Resumen
Abstract Recently, the offshore wind industry is transitioning from the fixed-bottom in shallow waters to the floating in deep waters. This shift requires station-keeping anchors to stabilize turbines. Maximizing the cost-effectiveness and installation efficiency of anchor foundations is critical for project success. Suction anchors offer an efficient installation method by creating an underpressure to penetrate the seabed without noise from hammering like driven pile anchors. This foundation concept, well-established in the oil and gas industry, holds promise for floating offshore wind applications. Traditionally, the top cap is fixed on the suction anchor after installation to provide a sealed condition inside for better vertical holding performance. However, in the case of a catenary mooring system in soft clay, where horizontal loads dominate, the conventional fixed top cap may not be necessary. Instead, a retrievable top cap can be designed, offering cost savings and ensuring full embedment of the anchor in the seabed, enhancing its capacity, and mobilizing more soil in deep areas. This study presents a series of numerical modelling to investigate the horizontal capability of the suction anchors in clay with retrievable top caps. Comprehensive numerical simulations were performed, which were validated first against the existing studies in literatures for traditional suction anchor with fixed top cap. A parametric study was then carried out to assess the effects of the retrievable top cap length, anchor length to diameter ratio (L/D), padeye location, and loading angle on the anchor horizontal capacity. Consistent with the existing studies, the failure mechanism of horizontally loaded suction anchor change with the padeye location, which transforms from a rotation failure to horizontal translation failure as the padeye location increase from seabed to around 0.6L (anchor length) and provides the highest horizontal capacity, although it should be noted that the padeye location is also affected by the loading angle. For the anchor with retrievable top cap, almost the same horizontal capacity was observed when the L/D ratio is larger than 1. In addition, when the retrievable top part extends to upper part of anchor, a higher capacity factor can be obtained due to the increased embedment and the mobilization of deep soil. Compared with the anchor with fixed top cap, the optimum padeye location of anchor with retrievable top part will also change to a shallower depth at around 0.5L.

Resumen
Abstract While the offshore wind industry has shown a steady trend towards floating turbines, costs of these systems remain high. A multiline anchor concept may significantly reduce the high cost of floating wind, in which floating turbines share anchors. This work investigates the potential cost benefit of implementing a multiline anchor system relative to the conventional single-line anchor system over a range of spatial parameters. The OC4 DeepCwind semisubmersible platform is used to design catenary mooring systems for different water depths and turbine spacings. In all cases, the maximum anchor force in the 3-line anchor system is less than or equal to that of the single-line anchor system. Cost models for the mooring lines, anchors, installation and geotechnical site investigation are presented and discussed. In a 100-turbine farm, the multiline anchor system results in a 9–19% reduction in stationkeeping costs, with high and low estimates for the cost models additionally included. Larger reductions in the combined line and anchor cost result from mooring system configurations with smaller ratios of water depth to turbine spacing. Due to perimeter effects in the multiline configuration, larger cost reductions can be achieved for larger farm sizes.

Resumen
Depletion of shallow-water hydrocarbons is increasingly forcing the oil and gas industry to explore in deeper water. Dynamically installed anchors (i.e. torpedo anchors and deep penetrating anchor) are increasingly used as a cost-effective solution for floating offshore structures in deep water environments because their installation cost is largely independent of water depth. In addition, dynamically installed anchors can be deployed accurately, and their performance is less dependent on accurate assessment of the soil shear strength since lower seabed strengths permit greater penetration depths. Despite of the economic advantages afforded by dynamically installed anchors, there remain significant uncertainties in the prediction of the embedment depth and verticality, which is likely to affect their long-term holding capacity. Currently, the holding capacity of the dynamically installed anchors is assessed using conventional pile capacity techniques, which neglect discrepancies in the rate of installation and failure mechanism between them. This paper presents a series of model tests simulating dynamic installation and monotonic pull-out of dynamically installed anchors in normally consolidated clay. The model tests are carried out in a beam centrifuge at 100g, with varying penetration angles, extraction angles and model masses. A special designed apparatus allows model anchors to be penetrated and extracted with different penetration angles. The test results show that for models without fins, no matter by which angle the model penetrated the soil, the smallest value of holding capacity is obtained when the pullout and penetration directions are the same. Results also indicate that the penetration depth linearly increases with the anchor mass. This study also reported the results from finite element (FE) analyses. The Coupled Eulerian-Lagrangian (CEL) approach in the commercial FE package Abaqus/Explicit is carried out to simulate dynamic anchor installation. The findings of this study points to a method of assessing the minimum holding capacity of the anchor and its depth of penetration. Further study is now on-going to study the behavior of finned anchors.

Resumen
Abstract The utilization of offshore wind power in the United States has been a topic of discussion in recent times, and it has become apparent that floating wind technology holds the most potential in water depths exceeding 300 [1] [2] meters. However, to fully harness the benefits of this technology, it is imperative to enhance the station-keeping systems of the floating platforms. This work aims to present the findings from various parametric studies on the novel phenomenon called multiline anchors for floating offshore wind turbines. Since research on emerging wind technologies is shifting focus to deeper water to meet the growing demand of the renewable energy industry, the paper is based on taut-type mooring systems adopted in deep waters. The work entails the analysis of a multiline anchor connecting three different floating offshore wind turbine systems with taut mooring lines, with simulations conducted using the National Renewable Energy laboratory’s open-source tools, FAST and openFAST. The findings help to understand the implication of an increase in turbine size by a three-scale factor on the net multiline anchor forces, and the sensitivity of the environmental force direction on the multiline anchor forces. The influence of the taut angle on the multiline anchor forces in each water depth could also be understood.

Resumen
The combination of dynamic positioning (DP) and conventional anchoring of semi-submersible platforms in the oil industry has recently lead to a serious incident with large loss potential: the Floatel Superior platform suffered severe damage to its hull from a loose anchor in heavy seas during the night of November 6th–7th, 2012. This paper discusses the root causes leading to the incident. The investigation report from the Petroleum Safety Authority Norway (PSA) concludes that damage leading to the loose anchor had developed over several months, and various warning signs during that period were not heeded. The main reason for the damage was rooted in the combined operation mode where position-keeping by use of DP resulted in large environmental loads on the anchors while they were stowed in their bolsters along the vessel side in rough weather when the installation was at survival draught and operating on DP. The anchors on Floatel Superior had also been exposed to environmental loads in excess of the design capacity during extended transit two years prior to the incident. The incident itself was handled efficiently by the crew and emergency preparedness organizations, with 336 people evacuated by helicopter and the remaining 38 crew members transporting the damaged vessel to shore for repairs. In this paper, an immediate recommendation for removing anchors from the splash-zone while operating on DP is presented as relevant for other installations with similar class notation. In a longer perspective, the investigation found that both well-established design codes and their application in the actual design had shortcomings which played a role in the cause of events. The vessel design appears to have been performed with a principal focus on sub-units (anchor, winch, bolster, pendant-wire attachment) and to an insufficient extent on the combined system use under which it was to be operated. A long-established method of design for connections of auxiliary structures to the main hull structure also showed shortcomings in the event: the doubler plates or pads used to attach the bolsters to the hull did not function as weak links as intended.

Resumen
Abstract There are technical and commercial challenges in the mooring of floating offshore wind turbines (FOWTs). Currently, the industry is developing some innovative mooring designs and new mooring components to reduce mooring costs, increase installation and hook-up effectiveness and ultimately reduce the environmental impact. We propose a new mooring design, the V-Share mooring system, with two lines connecting from two different floater columns to one anchor. Each mooring cluster is "V-shaped," looking down from the sea surface. An anchor attached to multiple mooring lines has been field proven with mooring lines from different floaters sharing anchors. Therefore, all mooring components and installation technologies are field-proven. Numerical simulations verify the effectiveness of the V-Share mooring. Different engineering aspects are discussed, including mooring installation and floater hook-up. We started with the theoretical analysis for a spread mooring system stiffness in the surge, sway, and yaw directions to demonstrate that the restoring stiffness from the V-Share mooring, as a new system, is comparable to the traditional mooring. Numerical tools further verify this through the restoring stiffness numerical calculations. The comparisons show that the V-Share mooring provides similar horizontal and vertical restoring stiffness and higher yaw stiffness than the traditional moorings. In the case studies, we used one polyester rope semi-taut mooring system and one wire rope catenary mooring system on three-column semi-submersibles with large wind turbines to conduct fully-coupled simulations. The results confirm the similar tension, offsets, and more stable platform motions in the yaw and heel angles. In addition, the V-Share mooring system allows the possibility of hooking up two lines simultaneously. For each FOWT, the V-Share mooring pattern reduces the mooring system footprint and anchor number and achieves savings in CAPEX, geotechnical surveys, transportation, and installation. Moreover, the V-Share mooring is naturally feasible for shared anchors between different floaters in a wind farm, further reducing project costs. The FOWTs are moving into deeper waters with larger turbines. Multiple mooring lines and large mooring sizes present significant technical and commercial challenges. The V-Share mooring pattern reduces floater motions, mooring footprint, and the number of anchors. It allows for simplified installation procedures and has the potential to improve wind power generation efficiency. The V-Share mooring system can be combined with innovative mooring components or materials to reduce costs further and is also applicable for floaters in other industries such as floating solar or fish farming.

Resumen
Abstract Floating offshore wind turbine (FOWT) is one of the trending topics in the offshore industry. Taiwanese government agency, Bureau of Energy, recently announced a 100 MW floating offshore wind turbine demonstration project, which is planned to be installed in Taiwan Strait to have a jump start in the readiness of floating wind technologies. Compared with bottom-fixed offshore wind turbines, semi-submersible FOWT has many advantages, among different floater types, in economic efficiency as offshore wind farms go to deeper water. This paper summarizes the design of a mooring system and the anchor type selection for a concept floating system, TaidaFloat. TaidaFloat is a floating platform designed to support a 15 MW wind turbine in a water depth of around 70 meters. The mooring design follows the rules and guidelines of American Bureau of Shipping. 3 × 2 and 3 × 3 mooring patterns are investigated for feasibility of withstanding the winds, waves, and currents in Taiwan Strait. According to the rules, the mooring system must sustain an environmental load of a 50-year return period. The priority of the design is to minimize the cost and the footprint of the mooring system. OrcaFlex and ANSYS Discovery are used for the analyses. The results show that a 3 × 3 mooring pattern with an anchor distance (radius) of 10 times water depth is required to meet the design targets under extreme environmental conditions. Anchors of around 23tons are needed to withstand the mooring loads. Overall, in the current design, the mooring chain size and anchor weight turned out to be relatively large as compared to other designs. Reducing the cost of the mooring and anchor systems remains to be a challenge in future work.

Resumen
This report describes a research project for evaluating the applicability of the widely accepted 80 percent criterion for elongation of ground anchors to anchors with unbonded lengths exceeding 100 feet. This issue is driven by several recent projects involving ground anchors for landslide stabilization in which a significant percentage of the anchors did not meet the criterion that requires measured elongation during proof load testing of at least 80 percent of the theoretical elastic elongation. The projects involved anchor unbonded lengths in the range of 85 to 220 feet, which is outside the range traditionally used in practice, although anchors of this length are being used more frequently for landslide stabilization. The principal objective of this research is to address whether the widely accepted criterion of 80 percent elongation is applicable for such applications, and whether other factors affect the ability of anchors to meet the criterion. Analytical methods for predicting transfer of load along the length of steel strand due to friction loss are used routinely in the prestressed concrete industry. These analytical expressions provide a rational framework for quantifying changes in load due to friction along the length of a ground anchor in terms of a ‘wobble coefficient’ (K) as defined in Aalami(2004). Values of the wobble coefficient for ground anchors can only be determined by back‐calculating from load tests, i.e., fit the value of K to the appropriate analytical expression based on the known test load and measured percent elongation. The analytical basis is first developed and shown to provide a tool for evaluating results of anchor load tests to determine the magnitude of expected elongation as a function of unbonded length. Next, a database of anchor load tests is used to back‐calculate values of K for anchors with unbonded lengths in the range typically used in geotechnical applications (<100feet). These values of K are then used to calculate expected friction loss for anchors with high unbonded lengths (100 to 250 feet) to evaluate whether the 80 percent criterion is reasonable. The primary findings of this research are: Field data data show a general trend of increasing rate of friction loss with increasing unbonded length, i.e., longer anchors are more likely to fail the 80‐percent minimum elongation criterion; Shallow anchor inclination appears to be a strong contributor to higher friction loss because it makes placement of the anchor into the hole difficult, requiring the anchor to be forced in, which may induce additional curvature and twisting; Factors that contribute to alignment deviations of the anchor drill hole, such as obstructions, discontinuities, or alternating hard and soft layers, also contribute to curvature and increase friction loss; Factors that result in forcing the anchor in to the hole, which for the cases considered involved a combination of long anchors, shallow inclination, and alignment deviations, increases the probability of anchor damage. For example, failure of the seal between the bond and unbonded segments of the anchor may allow grout to penetrate the sheathing, preventing elastic deformation of the strands.

Background Most of Australian prawn aquaculture production is based on P. monodon. However, the Australian industry is under intense competition from lower priced overseas imports. The availability of all-female monosex populations, by virtue of their large size and associated premium prize, will offer competitive advantage to the industry which desperately needs to counteract competitors within this market. As for the redclaw production in Israel, although it is at its infancy, the growers realized that the production of males is extremely advantageous and that such management strategy will change the economic assumptions and performances of this aquaculture to attract many more growers. Original objectives (as in original proposal) Investigating the sex inheritance mechanism in the tiger prawn. Identification of genes expressed uniquely in the androgenic gland (AG) of prawns and crayfish. The above genes and/or their products will be used to localize the AG in the prawn and manipulate the AG activity in both species. Production of monosex populations through AG manipulation. In the prawn, production of all-female populations and in the crayfish, all-male populations. Achievements In the crayfish, the AG cDNA library was further screened and a third AG specific transcript, designated Cq-AG3, had been identified. Simultaneously the two AG specific genes, which were previously identified, were further characterized. Tissue specificity of one of those genes, termed Cq-AG2, was demonstrated by northern blot hybridization and RNA in-situ hybridization. Bioinformatics prediction, which suggested a 42 amino acid long signal anchor at the N-terminus of the deduced Cq-AG2, was confirmed by immunolocalization of a recombinant protein. Cq-IAG's functionality was demonstrated by dsRNA in-vivo injections to intersex crayfish. Cq-IAGsilencing induced dramatic sex-related alterations, including male feature feminization, reduced sperm production, extensive testicular apoptosis, induction of the vitellogeningene expression and accumulation of yolk proteins in the ovaries. In the prawn, the AG was identified and a cDNA library was created. The putative P. monodonAG hormone encoding gene (Pm-IAG) was identified, isolated and characterized for time of expression and histological localization. Implantation of the AG into prawn post larvae (PL) and juveniles resulted in phenotypic transformation which included the appearance of appendix masculina and enlarged petasma. The transformation however did not result in sex change or the creation of neo males thus the population genetics stage to be executed with Prof. Hulata did not materialized. Repeated AG implantation is currently being trialed. Major conclusions and Implications, both scientific and agricultural Cq-IAG's involvement in male sexual differentiation had been demonstrated and it is strongly suggested that this gene encodes an AG hormone in this crayfish. A thorough screening of the AG cDNA library shows Cq-IAG is the prominent transcript within the library. However, the identification of two additional transcripts hints that Cq-IAG is not the only gene mediating the AG effects. The successful gene silencing of Cq-IAG, if performed at earlier developmental stages, might accomplish full and functional sex reversal which will enable the production of all-male crayfish populations. Pm-IAG is likely to play a similar role in prawns. It is possible that repeated administration of the AG into prawn will lead to the desired full sex reversal, so that WZ neo males, crossed with WZ females can result in WW females, which will form the basis for monosex all-female population.

Resumen
Subsea pipelines and flow lines are periodically subjected to damaging events such as anchor impacts that result in massive pipeline movements, dropped object damage, internal/external corrosion damage, etc. Knowing how to assess these damage events is often challenging, especially considering the potential for product release. The cost of production shut-ins can be significant and avoiding un-necessary shut-ins is desirable. While most pipeline operators have company-level procedures and programs in place for responding to pipeline emergencies, at the current time there is no single resource for providing guidance for the pipeline industry. Development of emergency response guidelines for operators to respond to offshore pipeline damage emergencies in an effective and timely manner. One unique feature of this project is that SES utilized a series of workshops spaced over a years to collectively build the Decision/Task Tree, which is the key feature of this work. Further, a collaborative effort was continued to develop detailed input for the report. This Collaborative Workshop Model of conducting project work combines the best minds available on the subject, rather than having our customers merely serve as observers and evaluators, as is done traditionally. A second unique feature is that this report is formatted as a computer-based entry portal a "front door" to existing proprietary documents that each company has assembled for use in responding to an offshore pipeline damage incident. Often the treasured company documents are in dusty notebooks that should be scanned for incorporation with this front door document. This guideline document in its final form can provide live links to the proprietary company documents in an Adobe Acrobat format, along with the materials we have developed for the project. This front door is intended for use on a computer that is linked to the internet. The contents of this report are organized to place traditional introductory topics that would detract from operational use of this report for actual offshore emergencies in appendices near the back of the report. This report provides insights on the critical elements required for effectively responding to pipeline emergencies. PART A of this report contains the traditional introductory material, while PART B is named the Field Manual - for offshore emergency use. PART B can be used alone as an emergency response field manual without the introductory material PART A contains the Executive Summary, Introduction and Background, while PART B Contains the Preface to the Field Manual, How to Use This Report, the Detailed Task/Decision Matrix, the Resource Sheets referred to in the Matrix, In-House Company Processes Needed, Table of Preferred Consultants and Service Providers, and the SPIM 3-1 Detailed Repair Investigation Checklist.
