Türk edebiyatının en güçlü kalemlerinden ve aydınlarından Ahmet Hamdi Tanpınar yazın sahasında şiir, hikâye, roman, deneme, mektup, edebî tenkit türlerinde pek çok eser ortaya koymuş bir isimdir. Okuma ve yazma eylemleri üzerine inşa edilmiş bu verimli ömür kendini hem kurgu sahasında hem de edebiyat tarihi ve eleştiri zemininde kanıtlamıştır. Kitap Korkusu Tanpınar’ın kitap ve okur ilişkisini gençlik yıllarına ait bir anısı eşliğinde anlattığı bir denemesidir. Diğer tüm eserlerinin merkezine yerleştirdiği Doğu- Batı sorunsalına yazar bu metninde de kitapla kurulan ilişki üzerinden alan açar.

Ahmet Hamdi Tanpınar, Cumhuriyet Devri Türk edebiyatı içerisinde şiir, roman, hikâye, deneme, makale gibi pek çok türde eser vermiş önemli bir isimdir.
