Technologies and innovations have revolutionized the agricultural industry throughout time; as more technologies and innovations keep gaining prominence in the agricultural industry, there is an increasing divergence of views on their origin, creators, and meaning among scholars across the scientific fields. Students in agricultural programs emerge from different fields in the agricultural disciplines; as a result, they have different exposure and experience with different technologies and innovations. Their varied backgrounds influence how they define, explain, and conceptualize technologies and innovations in agriculture, giving rise to varied perceptions of who should be recognized and who should not. The present study sought to explore agricultural students' perceptions of technologies and innovations and the role of farmers and extension agents in their development. The study adopted a qualitative content analysis approach by analyzing the views expressed by seventeen students from two different universities. The results showed that agricultural students have varied perceptions of what technologies and innovations represent in agriculture. Most of the students perceived technology as equipment and tools, and innovation as improved techniques and as a discovery of new methods. They also had conflicting views on the role played by the farmers, extension agents, and researchers in technology and innovation development. While the majority viewed farmers as adaptors of technologies and innovations, none viewed extension agents as contributors to technologies and innovation development rather than as disseminators. Our findings suggest a lack of knowledge in the collective role played by farmers, extension agents, and scientists in technology and innovation development. The repercussion of this is that it may contribute towards limited inclusion of diverse perspectives in technology and innovation creation and dissemination, which may affect sustainable agricultural development.

Resumen
Food innovations can create novel nutritious food, improve agricultural sustainability, and increase the agri-food industry’s market profits. Our study proposes a consensus definition of food innovations and forecasts food innovations that will be available to consumers in the next five years by using a Delphi study. Thirteen experts aged 35 to 85 from the US and the UK researching or working in agriculture and nutrition, public health, the agri-food industry, or food policy participated in three rounds of this Delphi study. The experts were chosen using the snowball sampling method. This study followed the implementation and data analysis guidelines popularized by the Rand Corporation. The consensus definition for food innovations (with 76.9% agreement) was that ‘food innovations aid in the development, production, or transportation of new food products, processes, or technology to promote human health, food security, or environmental sustainability’. The specific food innovations, which had over 69% agreement, are ranked as (1) plant-based meat alternatives, (2) personalized nutrition, (3) natural foods, (4) new genetically modified organisms, (5) regenerative agriculture, (6) urban agriculture, (7) packing innovations, (8) alternative flours, (9) improving shelf life, (10) supply chain technologies, (11) improved soil health, and (12) technology for traceability. The food innovation definition and identified specific food innovations could further connect the agricultural value chain to develop novel nutritious foods and improve agricultural sustainability. Agri-food industry specialists, practitioners, researchers, and policymakers can advance food innovation development and research pinpointing the specific food innovations along the agricultural value chain.

In this research, it is aimed to determine the factors affecting the innovation level of agricultural enterprises. Konya province was chosen as the research area because it is one of the important agricultural production centres in Türkiye. Stratified random sampling method was used within the scope of the study. A total of 268 agricultural enterprise owners were interviewed face to face and survey data were compiled. Multiple regression model was applied in the analysis of the factors affecting the perception of innovations by the operator. In this research, considering the characteristics of the data collected by the questionnaire, the linear regression model, which uses functional forms in regression models, was used. In the study, innovation index was taken as the dependent variable in the linear regression model. Independent variables were determined as education, experience, number of parcels, amount of land, active capital, amount of land, agricultural income, following innovations, receiving training on agricultural issues, participating in agricultural activities, following events related to agriculture on social media and cooperation with institutions. As a result of the model, a positive relationship was determined between education, experience, number of parcels, amount of land, active capital, amount of land, agricultural income, following innovations, receiving training on agriculture-related issues, participating in agriculture-related activities, following agriculture-related events on social media and cooperation with institutions and innovation index.

The article argues for the necessity of boosting the innovation activities of agricultural organizations to overcome contemporary macroeconomic instability caused by the cyclicality of development in all economic agents, including those engaged in the agricultural sector. It describes the distinctive features of innovation processes in agriculture. A classification of innovations that can be implemented in agricultural enterprises is presented from a comprehensive perspective. The most effective and realistic types of innovations in the current conditions of external and internal environmental instability are highlighted. Special attention is given to the digital transformation of business processes in agricultural enterprises, showcasing their effectiveness. A step-by-step algorithm for implementing innovations in agricultural enterprises with the aim of enhancing their resilience to the impact of macroeconomic instability factors has been developed.

AbstractMeeting the societal demand for food, bioproducts and water under climate change is likely to greatly challenge the maize-soybean agriculture of the Midwest USA, which is a globally significant resource. New agricultural systems are needed that can meet this challenge. Innovations in water management engineering and cropping system diversification may provide a way forward, enabling transformation to highly multifunctional agricultural watersheds that expand both agricultural production and water-related services to society, and which provide scalable units of climate adaptation in agriculture and water systems. Implementation and refinement of such watersheds require corresponding social innovation to create supportive social systems, in economic, political and cultural terms. A range of emerging social innovations can drive the emergence of highly multifunctional agricultural watersheds, by enabling robust cooperation, resource exchange and coordinated innovation across multiple societal sectors and scales. We highlight relevant innovations and opportunities for their exploratory implementation and refinement in the Midwest.

This study explores the dynamic nature of lexical innovation and the impact of agricultural technology developments that occur in agriculture in the Bekasi Regency. The influx of modern agricultural equipment has shifted the traditional farming system. The linguistic landscape of Bekasi Regency has also been adjusted to the occurrence of lexical innovations in the rice field agricultural sector. This study used an ethnolinguistic approach. Data are obtained through observation and interviews and then presented descriptively based on field conditions and relevant lexical innovation theories. The results obtained in this study are that the use of modern agricultural technology contributes to lexical innovation in agriculture in the Bekasi Regency. The lexical innovations found are not only internal but also external. The lexicon which is a category of internal innovation undergoes a process of forming new words, namely: affixation, blending, and onomatopoeia. External innovation occurs by borrowing, as well as the expansion of meaning. The next finding is that lexical innovation due to the development of agricultural technology in the Bekasi Regency turned out to be threatened by the loss of several words in agriculture. They are lexicons related to traditional agricultural equipment and processes.

This paper presents an exploration of public discourse surrounding the use of artificial intelligence (AI) in agriculture, specifically related to precision agriculture techniques. (1) Advancements in the use of AI have increased its implementation in the agricultural sector, often framed as a sustainable solution for feeding a growing global population. However, lessons learned from previous agricultural innovations indicate that new technologies may face public scrutiny and suspicion, limiting the dissemination of the innovation. Using systems thinking approaches can help to improve the development and dissemination of agricultural innovations and limit the unintended consequences of innovations within society. (2) To analyze the current discourse surrounding AI in agriculture, a content analysis was conducted on Twitter using Meltwater to select tweets with specific reach and engagement. (3) Seven themes resulted from the analysis: precision agriculture and digital technology innovation; transformation and the future of agriculture; accelerate solutions, solve challenges; data management and accessibility; transforming crop management, prioritizing adoption; and AI and sustainability. (4) The discourse on AI in agriculture on Twitter was overwhelmingly positive, failing to account for the potential drawbacks or limits of the innovation. This paper examines the limits of the current communication and outreach across environmental, economic, social, cultural, political, and behavioral contexts.

Subject of research is the economic content of innovation in agriculture. Purpose of the study is to consider the economic essence of innovation, outline the problems of the development of innovative activities of agricultural enterprises. Methods of research. The article uses a set of scientific methods of scientific research. The following research methods were used to write the article: logical generalization - to assess trends in the formation of the economic content of innovations in agricultural enterprises, as well as in the formation of a mechanism for managing the innovative process of an agricultural enterprise; dialectical and historical - in the study of scientific approaches to the formation of the economic content of innovations of the subject of economic activity, the generalization of foreign experience in securing business and the identification of conceptual approaches to taking into account the impact of threats on the innovative activities of the agricultural enterprise. Results of research. Challenges of modern times exert pressure on agriculture: population growth, the effects of climate change, the need to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in agriculture, economic development and the growing instability associated with land, water and energy shortages. This scenario enhances the critical role of innovation to make agriculture a more competitive and sustainable industry. The article reveals the economic content of innovations as a category of economy and features of the functioning of innovations in agricultural enterprises of Ukraine, as well as the author's definition of the term "innovation". The main features of the innovation process are considered. Application of results. The results of this study can be applied in the practice of financial and economic activity of agricultural enterprises. Conclusions. Our analysis of professional literary sources and the scientific generalization of the existing views on the disclosure of the economic content of the term "innovation" have allowed us to state that, first, there is no conventional interpretation that would cover its most significant qualitative characteristics, and secondly, the main discussions of this issues focus mainly on three conceptual directions. Determining the specific features of bringing innovation to the consumer, it is customary to talk about innovation activity or innovation process as a process of transforming knowledge into innovation, passing the following stages: "science - technology - production - consumption". So the basic condition for the effective functioning of agricultural production is the expanded reproduction that occurs in the interaction of economic and natural-biological processes. Therefore, in the management of innovations need to take into account the requirements not only economic laws, but also the laws of nature: equivalence, indispensability and a combination of life factors, laws of minimum, optimum and maximum.

Innovation is a key issue in the discussion about the links between agriculture, food production and sustainability. Indeed, the creation, adoption and exploitation of innovations can interact with all three dimensions of sustainability – environment, society and economy. Despite the increasing support for innovation practices in the agrifood sector from institutions and public policies, innovation in this sector has spread quite slowly. Indeed, the diffusion of innovations strongly depends on the social, institutional and productive system behind the technological/structural features of the farms. The analysis of the drivers underpinning the innovation diffusion dynamics in agriculture is therefore a very interesting topic for studies in this domain. This paper aims to provide a map of the diffusion of innovations in the Italian agricultural sector, highlighting differences and territorial specificities. We try to explain the drivers and factors influencing such specificities, drawing from data on the agricultural sector as well as information on the institutional and regulatory framework. Data on the diffusion of product, process, organizational and marketing innovations in agriculture have been gathered for the 110 Italian provinces, drawing from the 2010 Agricultural Census survey. Maps of the diffusion of the different types of innovations have then been constructed and analysed. Results show that the diffusion of the different innovation types is not uniform within the country. Some are typical to specific areas where productive or market opportunities occur. Others are not territorial-specific but are linked to the features of the single farms. The influence of the regulatory context also seems to play a significant role. By analysing the local expenditure in rural development intervention, we analyses how the synergies among the productive and institutional systems may act as a driver for innovation diffusion in agriculture.

The aim of the paper is to present a conceptual framework from which to develop an appropriate innovation policy in African countries. Particular emphasis is placed on agricultural innovation, their role in stimulating agribusiness and the overall development of the African continent. Increasing food production and bioenergy, improving agricultural economics, African farmers' incomes, reducing poverty and adapting to climate change are challenges that can be addressed or mitigated by innovations in the agricultural sector. Africa's agriculture is a highly unproductive sector as a result of lack of appropriate innovative technologies, credit, infrastructure, lack of knowledge, information and skills. Agricultural innovations in African countries relate to the invention of insecticides, resistant varieties, fertilizers, irrigation pumps, genetic programs, sustainable agricultural practices, etc. Across Africa, farmers are embracing "climate-smart" innovations. An example of the response to climate change is the raising of 200 million new trees. African countries need to improve educational system performance, science and technology, institutions, increase financial and human investment to build local technology capabilities and learn from the experiences of other innovative regions. Although most African countries have made significant progress in terms of agricultural innovation, the results are still not quite satisfactory.

The article is devoted to the modernization of domestic agricultural production, its support from the state, the introduction by agricultural producers of innovations in the production process. The article systematizes the views of economists on the forms (directions) and methods of supporting innovation in agriculture. Modernization of agricultural production is one of the primary tasks of increasing the competitiveness of the industry. Improvement of production in agriculture, which is impossible without the use of innovation, is becoming a key factor in achieving success in competition in foreign markets for agricultural products. Statistics show that the technical and technological modernization in the industry is extremely weak. It should be noted that the level of innovation in domestic agriculture is about 10%, while in the US it is more than 50%. The decline in the production of agricultural machinery threatens the technical and technological modernization of the industry, since agricultural producers with limited financial capabilities, with the continuation of this negative trend in the near future, there will be no possibility of an alternative choice when acquiring the much-needed equipment. The insignificant financing of innovations in agriculture by the state led to the fact that only 2% of agricultural enterprises introduce innovative technologies into their activities. The state needs to support domestic producers of agricultural equipment, since their absence poses a real threat to the food security of the national state.

Economic changes have significantly accelarated in the 21th century. In this turbulent market environment enterprises are forced to adapt continously as they must be flexible in order to meet changing market needs. To achieve flexibility companies require innovation. The economic relevance of innovations is significant in every market sector and agriculture is no exception. Re-dynamizing agricultural innovations is a possibility for the outburst of the Hungarian agriculture. Agricultural enterprises have to face competitors as well and they should give priority to efficiency, sustainability and competitiveness in order to preserve their position in BOTH global and domestic markets. This study examines the innovation potential of the agricultural enterprises in the North Great Plain region based on own databases and case studies.

The article examines the significance of innovations in developing the economic potential of agricultural enterprises. Realization of the existing economic potential of the enterprise requires a process of changes in its economic activity, which corresponds to the concept of innovation. The management of this process of change must be managed. Therefore, management efforts aimed at realizing economic potential are the management of innovations to achieve the economic goals of the enterprise. Economic potential is a set of dynamically changing target characteristics of the enterprise. Therefore, innovation management in this context involves achieving specific results and activities aimed at changing the potential under the influence of external and internal factors. The essence of the main types of innovation in agriculture is analyzed. In particular, the product, production, and management types of innovations are highlighted as the most effective and efficient for agricultural enterprises. So, we can maintain that product is improved functional or consumer characteristics of products; production is operations aimed at reducing specific costs or improving product quality; managerial introduction of new organizational methods in business practice, labor process, or external relations of the enterprise. A structural and logical diagram of the place of innovations in the economic development system of agrarian enterprises' economic potential is proposed. The main possible directions of the effect of product, production, and management innovations in the design of development of the economic potential of agricultural enterprises in different periods are highlighted: in the short-term, medium-term, and long-term periods. Innovation management in conditions of limited resources includes not only the organization of development and use of innovations (which is also of great importance) but also the selection of those innovations that should be implemented using available resources. The need to implement innovations depends on the expected effect determined by the enterprise's mission. It was emphasized that the need for innovative development of the agricultural sector is due not only to new opportunities for enterprises in the sector but also to the need to overcome internal and external risks and challenges that complicate the functioning of enterprises Keywords: innovations, product innovations, production innovations, management innovations, economic potential, agricultural enterprises.

Subject. The article addresses the issues of Russia's technological sovereignty and food security. Objectives. The aim is to develop tools to increase innovation activity in Russian agriculture. Methods. In the course of the study, we employ methods of statistical observation, comparison, as well as the monographic method. Results. The paper determines that the innovative activity of agricultural organizations in Russia remains at a low level. It reveals factors hindering the development of innovation activity, analyzes modern methods of stimulating the innovative activity of agriculture in Russia and in foreign countries, assesses the implementation of State programs to promote innovations in agriculture. Conclusions. It is crucial to develop mechanisms for introducing innovations in agriculture. An important task is the integration of agricultural science and production.

The impact of climate change on agriculture is varying over space and time. The consequences highly uncertain are heterogeneous in nature. Agricultural sector must focus on adopting climate smart technologies to successfully achieve food security and climate change challenges.Climate Smart Technologies in agriculture is clearly a crucial response for an effective and equitable adaptation and mitigation strategy. To shift the focus towards climate smart agricultural technologies in India, innovation will be the key. The present study focused on level of awareness and adaptation strategies of farmers about climate change and Climate smart technologies. Farmers’ knowledge and perceptions about climate change, and adoption of climate smart technologies, will help development practitioners, researchers and policy makers to develop more promising technologies according to the needs and interests of farmers. The paper advocates various agricultural innovations including technological innovations, managerial innovations and traditional agriculture as a climate-smart approach for sustainable food production.

Nowadays Ukraine faces the difficult times under the influence of economic and political crises. Therefore, the only perspective way of products’ competitiveness is innovations, in the first place in the areas where there are many resources and opportunities. Agriculture is one of such most important strategic directions of Ukrainian economy. At the same time agriculture is the supporting foundation for the development of many other types of activity and it can substantially influence the development of Ukrainian economy on an international scale. The paper dwells on the nature, features and problems of implementation of innovations in the agriculture of Ukraine. The features of AIS innovation processes in current conditions are defined. Main problems and obstacles to agriculture innovative development in Ukraine are outlined. The authors emphasize the following factors of low innovation activity of agricultural entities: direct attitude of contemporary entrepreneur to innovation processes and understanding of their role in achieving success; lack of state assistance; insufficiency of legislative basis of its provision in Ukraine. Currently Ukrainian agricultural enterprises have a huge capacity for operation at competitive markets as equal partners of global agricultural leaders. Available resources and natural-climate conditions are among their factors of success. However, fast development of technologies dictates new activity conditions to strengthen and improve their positions through innovations. Despite the range of advantages, Ukrainian agro-industrial producers lag significantly behind the advanced innovations and developments in the world. However, there are some examples of successful innovative agri-food companies. Major deterrent factors that cause the low innovativeness of agricultural entities are direct attitude of contemporary entrepreneur to innovation processes and understanding of their role in achieving success, lack of state assistance and insufficiency of legislative basis of its provision in Ukraine.

Subject. Agricultural business cannot evolve successfully without innovation used in their operations. The low demand for marketing, corporate and environmental innovations stem from the underdevelopment of the innovative environment and infrastructure of regional agriculture, in particular. Objectives. We analyze the use of innovation in agriculture, evaluate the demand for various types of innovation among small agricultural businesses. Methods. The study relies upon such methods as monograph, abstraction logic analysis, analysis and synthesis, economic analysis, economic-statistical analysis. The statistical framework is based on official statistics of the Federal State Statistics Service. Results. The article points out the most promising types of marketing, organizational and administrative, environmental innovation. If they are capable of allowing for the implementation of organizational and administrative innovation, such entities are found to derive additional effects from new technology. It is hard for small and medium-sized agricultural businesses to implement innovation on their own. Thus, they can raise their performance by cooperating with large businesses. The article shows how small and large businesses may cooperate to master innovation. Conclusions and Relevance. Igniting the innovative activity of small agricultural businesses becomes a key to the food independence and security of the country. Innovation can be used more broadly if there is an appropriate innovative environment, which requires to improve the regulatory framework and refine the innovation encouragement mechanisms, incentives, stronger and deeper integration of agricultural science and production. There should be provisions of the agricultural policy, which would help various innovations permeate production processes of small agricultural businesses.

This paper argues that much of the discussion about constraints to the adoption of agricultural innovations is muddled because the distinction between variables that are endogenous to the fit between an innovation and a specified group of potential users, and those that are exogenous (that is, prerequisite conditions), is seldom made explicit during the innovation-development process. This distinction, which can emerge through a design-specification exercise, locates a much greater degree of responsibility for the eventual adoption outcome – whether positive or negative – within the innovation-development process itself. To continue to cite exogenous factors such as inappropriate land-tenure arrangements or lack of output markets as constraints to the adoption of innovations is to miss a fundamental step within the innovation-development process.

This study examines the impact of green process innovation (GPI), green entrepreneurial orientation (GPO), and proactive sustainable strategy (PSS) on environmental performance (EP). Data were collected from 294 Indian agriculture technology firms. Structural equation modeling (SEM) was used to analyze the data using Lisrel 8.80. This study aimed to analyze how green entrepreneurial orientation, sustainability strategies, and green process innovation improve the environmental performance of agricultural technology firms. The results show that green process innovation, sustainability strategy, and entrepreneurial orientation play a significant role in enhancing agricultural technology firms’ environmental performance. Agricultural technology firms achieve high environmental performance primarily through strategy or sustainability. In every green process, innovation is crucial and essential. This research offers several practical implications that can be utilized by managers of agricultural technology firms to develop systems with cleaner production techniques in agribusiness. The novelty of the study lies in analyzing the direct relationships among green entrepreneurial orientation, strategy, and innovation in promoting the environmental performance of agricultural technology firms by drawing data from an agriculturally oriented developing country such as India.

Abstract. For many regions of the Far East, the commercialization of scientific developments in agriculture is primarily associated with creating interest in innovative products of medium and small producers, such as Peasant Farms (PF) and Personal Subsidiary Farms (PSF), which constitute the main share of agricultural producers in the Far East. Methods of systematic and abstract analysis, synthesis, which served as a basis for application and identification of cause-and-effect relations in solving the problems of promotion of innovation development in agriculture in the region. The system of innovation promotion for medium and small producers on the example of the Buryat State Agricultural Academy is considered. The scientific novelty lies in the development of a model of involving small and medium agricultural producers in innovation activity by promoting innovation development of universities. In the article, there is a description of the project of the Buryat State Agricultural Academy on promotion and popularization of agro-innovations, which has been adopted for implementation. As a result of this project, structure responsible for commercialization of innovative products, design and prototyping of innovative agricultural products have been created in addition to the traditional research departments of the university. The proposed model is aimed at generating interest in innovations among the main producers of agricultural products in the region – private farms and household farms, which currently shun innovations due to the prevailing opinion about the high cost of production and promotion of innovative products. The article describes the mechanism for the formation of interaction channels for testing innovative agricultural products, informing manufacturers about the results of testing, reducing risks for business and the process of promoting innovative developments of the university through the involvement of small and medium-sized agricultural producers.

The study sought to: (1) evaluate agriculturalists’ characteristics as adopters of IoT smart agriculture technologies, (2) evaluate traits fostering innovation adoption, (3) evaluate the cycle of IoT smart agriculture adoption, and, lastly, (4) discern attributes and barriers of information communication. Researchers utilized a survey design to develop an instrument composed of eight adoption constructs and one personal characteristic construct and distributed it to agriculturalists at an agricultural exposition in Rio Grande do Sul. Three-hundred-forty-four (n = 344) agriculturalists responded to the data collection instrument. Adopter characteristics of agriculturalists were educated, higher consciousness of social status, larger understanding of technology use, and more likely identified as opinion leaders in communities. Innovation traits advantageous to IoT adoption regarding smart agriculture innovations were: (a) simplistic, (b) easily communicated to a targeted audience, (c) socially accepted, and (d) larger degrees of functionality. Smart agriculture innovation’s elevated levels of observability and compatibility coupled with the innovation’s low complexity were the diffusion elements predicting agriculturalists’ adoption. Agriculturalists’ beliefs in barriers to adopting IoT innovations were excessive complexity and minimal compatibility. Practitioners or change agents should promote IoT smart agriculture technologies to opinion leaders, reduce the innovation’s complexity, and amplify educational opportunities for technologies. The existing sum of IoT smart agriculture adoption literature with stakeholders and actors is descriptive and limited, which constitutes this inquiry as unique.

Agriculture has a significant economic position in each country, either historically or in terms of importance. Without the products of agriculture, there could be no life. That's the reason to analyze this industry. This industry is now, in the current global world, affected by new trends and new competition on the market. New management, innovations, and other challenges that occurred in this sector. It must face new threats. Especially, significant changes in the global world environment significantly affect this sector. Firstly, through the volume of crop production, respectively non-production due to significant climate changes. Secondly, due to stricter market conditions and its current regulation. Changes in these areas have a significant impact not only on the development in the agricultural sector itself but also on the development of the economy as a whole. Today, competitiveness plays a significant role in the world, as well as in agriculture. This paper summarizes the findings from the area of agriculture, nowadays trends in this sector, innovations. It analyses the competitiveness in this sector, which is characterized by its specific features. Then it summarizes the findings and main thesis about Common Agricultural Policy and its instruments. Another part of this article is dedicated to a very important topic - innovation in agriculture. Agricultural innovation is seen as a co-evolutionary process because it combined technological, social, economic, and institutional changes. The main aim of the article is to identify the impact of agriculture on the economic development of the Slovak Republic economy and to show the possibilities for innovation implementing into this sector. The selected indicators will analyze the description of the position of this sector in the past and today. The typical indicators for the agricultural sector were set. Methodological tools of the research methods were analyzing statistical methods as a regression model, and p-value. Through a regression model, we would like to know what is the dependence of crop and livestock productions on the GDP of agriculture. Finally, improvements to the current state will be suggested. To gain the representative data, more than 20 years of research were set. The object of research is the Slovak republic. The position of agriculture within this country was identified. The article shows the results of verification of dependencies between indicators in the agricultural sector, which showed that statistical significance is assumed, which of course is confirmed both in crop and livestock production. The systematization of domestic and foreign scientific studies and approaches to answering problems in the management of agricultural innovations and the low share of agriculture on GDP makes it possible to create suggestions for the innovative solutions in agriculture in Slovakia. In this article, we focused on studying the current barriers to implementing innovations in order for the agricultural sector to become more sustainable. Through a systematic literature review (SLR), 73 scientific articles were obtained with a search equation in SCOPUS. Of these, 48 were analyzed because of the mention of an obstacle preventing the sector from implementing innovations towards sustainability. Information related to the publication year, abstract, authors, keywords, innovation, innovation type, relationship with Fourth Industrial Revolution (4IR), identified barrier, nature of the barrier (internal/external), agricultural subsector, country, and methodology of each article was identified, and with VantagePoint software, a technological surveillance technique was applied as a quantitative analysis of the information. The United States is the country with the most publications related to the subject. The most mentioned keywords were “Sustainable Agriculture”, “Agroecology”, “Climate Change”, “Innovation”, and “Organic Farming”. Additionally, a qualitative analysis showed 43 types of innovations, 16 of them related to technology. “Organic Agriculture” is the most mentioned innovation, followed by “Genetic Engineering” and “Precision Agriculture”. In addition, 51 barriers were identified, 28 external to farmers and 23 internal. “Lack of policies that promote that innovation Innovative Practices” is the most mentioned barrier, followed by “Epistemic Closure”, “Unfavorable Regulation”, Climate-Smart Agriculture, and “Unskilled Labor”. This article is intended not only to show trends in the barriers to innovation that prevents the achievement of sustainability that the agricultural sector needs, but also to serve as an input for the development of policies that provide solutions to these impediments. It was shown that 17 out of the 28 external barriers are related to topics that could be solved by formulating policies, laws, incentives, guidelines, and regulations.

Innovations play a significant role in the primary sector (i.e., agriculture, fisheries and forestry), ensuring a greater performance towards bioeconomy and sustainability. Innovation is being progressively applied to examining the organization of joint technological, social, and institutional modernizations in the primary sector. Exploring the governance of actor relations, potential policies, and support structures is crucial in the phase of innovation, e.g., during research activities, often applied at the national or sectorial scale. However, when opposing normative guidelines for alternative systems of agriculture arise (e.g., the industrial agriculture paradigm), modernizations in agricultural and forestry may contribute to outlining more sustainable systems. To date, innovations in the primary sector do not seem as advanced as in other sectors, apart from industrial agriculture, which sometimes appears to be the most encouraged. The present review aims to shed light on innovations that have been identified and promoted in recent years in the primary sector, including agriculture and forestry. The need to pursue sustainable development in this sector requires the inclusion of a fourth dimension, namely energy. In fact, energy sustainability is an issue that has been much discussed in recent years. However, the need for progressive technological progress is indispensable to ensure long-lasting energy efficiency. The aim is to understand what innovations have been implemented recently, highlighting opportunities and limitations for the primary sector.

The main objective of this study is to determine the factors affecting the application of innovations for dairy farmers in the Milas district, Muğla province, Turkey. Data from 71 dairy farmers and the Multinominal logit model are used for this study. The dependent variable of the model is divided into three categories; “I don’t apply any agricultural innovations”, “I apply agricultural innovations only after other farmers apply and express their positive opinion” and “I apply agricultural innovations”. In conclusion of the analysis, the comparisons are done with the farmers who “do not apply any agricultural innovations,” and the farmers who “apply agricultural innovations only after other farmers apply and express their positive opinion”; it is determined that a one unit increase in educational level raised the likelihood of applying innovations after receiving positive opinion. When the farmers that “apply agricultural innovation”, and that “apply agricultural innovations only after other farmers apply and express their positive opinion” are compared, it is found that a one unit increase in the number of milking animals had increased the likelihood of applying the innovations.

Precision agriculture represents an innovative approach utilizing technologies and scientific methods to enhance the efficiency and sustainability of agricultural oper-ations and their application in modern agriculture. Various technological innovations are analyzed, including the use of sensors, GPS systems, remote sensing, and software solutions that aid in optimizing agricultural operations. The article discusses the chal-lenges of implementing precision agriculture, as well as future development opportuni-ties in the sector and the potential benefits for farmers, rural communities, and the en-vironment from implementing this approach. The importance of precision agriculture as an innovative strategy for addressing challenges and achieving sustainable develop-ment in agriculture is emphasized. The goal of this article is to assist agricultural pro-ducers, agricultural specialists, and decision-makers in the sector in making informed decisions and strategies for implementing precision agriculture in their practices. Im-plementing precision agriculture will lead to improved efficiency and sustainability by reducing the use of resources such as water, fertilizers, and pesticides, increasing the productivity of agricultural crops, and reducing the adverse environmental impacts of agriculture.

The purpose of the article is to carry out a scientific generalization of the state of agricultural innovations and their state regulation in Ukraine on the example of scientific institutions. Research methods. The methodological basis of the research is the systemic method. A monographic method was used - for examining scientific publications of researchers on the problems of agricultural innovations and their state regulation; empirical, systemic and comparative analysis and synthesis, graphic methods - to assess the current state of science financing; statistical method - to assess the degree of government regulation and research funding; abstract-logical - for theoretical generalizations and conclusions. Research results. A review of scientific research on state regulation of agricultural innovations in Ukraine and the world is carried out. Shows the innovative position of Ukraine in international ratings. The state regulation of innovations through the analysis of the dynamics and efficiency of expenditures on agricultural science is investigated. Scientific novelty. The definition of state regulation of agricultural innovations was further developed as the choice of a certain model of organizational, regulatory, management measures for the creation and transfer of new technologies aimed at the formation of interrelated mechanisms of institutional, resource support for the support and development of innovative activities in agriculture for the purpose of socio-economic development. The substantiation of dependence of dynamics and efficiency of expenses on agrarian science and other spheres of economic activity in interrelation with macroeconomic indicators was deepened. Practical significance. Conclusions are made about the need to form a strategy for innovative development of the agricultural sector by supporting innovation and the IT industry; further cooperation between manufacturers, scientific institutions and the state. It is recommended to borrow foreign experience in terms of processing the state's strategy for regulating innovation in the agricultural sector, depending on the phase of economic development and budgetary opportunities. This paper considers innovations as one of the factors of sustainable agricultural development of the Stavropol Territory. It focuses on the impact of state policy at the regional level in the field of innovations on the sustainable development of the region’s agriculture. This paper tests whether the implementation of the policy in innovations increased the sustainable growth of agricultural development. To do so, a model with switch variables was used. Principle component analysis was used to calculate a composite sustainability index of selected socio-economic and environmental indicators. The hypothesis that the introduction of a state policy aimed at innovation has a positive impact on the sustainable development of the regional agriculture was corroborated. We also assessed the impact of implementing this policy within each dimension separately. The socio-economic indicator is more important than the environmental indicator.

This research details efforts to analyze the adoption and diffusion of agricultural technology innovations through the Integrated Participatory Development Management of Irrigation Program (IPDMIP) Field School Program in Kedungreja District, Cilacap Regency. In the background, the urgency of agriculture as the primary sector in development is illustrated, with technology adoption being the key to increasing productivity and farmer welfare. The IPDMIP program emphasizes the involvement of farmers in irrigation management and implementing modern technology to optimize agricultural yields. However, there has not been much in-depth research on the factors that influence the successful adoption and diffusion of technological innovations in the context of this program. This research aims to identify the factors that influence the adoption and diffusion of agricultural technology innovations in the IPDMIP Field School while measuring the adoption and diffusion of these innovations in the Kedungreja District. The quantitative research method uses a survey approach and statistical data analysis. The research instrument includes variables such as cultivated area, farmer age, education level, innovation characteristics, characteristics of potential users, decision-making, communication channels, and instructor qualifications. Data was collected from 100 respondents who were members of farmer groups receiving IPDMIP Field School activities through questionnaires. Data analysis shows that the IPDMIP Field School Program effectively increases the adoption and diffusion of agricultural technology innovations in the Kedungreja District. Factors such as farmer age, characteristics of the innovation, characteristics of potential users, and communication channels play a significant role in the successful adoption and diffusion of the innovation. The research results provide an in-depth picture of the effectiveness of this program in bringing positive change among farmers. This conclusion can be a basis for formulating further policies to support sustainable agricultural development and improve farmer welfare.

In 2017, the aggregate level of innovation activity in Russia amounted to 8.5%, the introduction of technological innovations - 7.5%; new business methods were used by only 2.3% of the surveyed organizations. In agriculture, technological innovations were carried out by 3.1% of enterprises, organizational - 0.9%, marketing - 0.5%; innovations aimed at increasing environmental safety in the production process or as a result of using improved products were introduced by 3.6% agricultural enterprises. According to the results of assessing the level of diffusion of innovations in agriculture, carried out on the basis of Rosstat data, the Central, Northwestern and Ural federal districts differ in a balanced level of innovation activity in all parameters. In the Volga Federal District, the share of organizations engaged in marketing innovations exceeds the average Russian level, but the aggregate level of innovation activity is low - 3%. A characteristic feature of the administrative-territorial units of the Russian Federation, in which the smallest share of innovative activity of any type in agriculture is recorded, is the predominance of small forms of management in their structure. According to the Analytical Center of the Ministry of Agriculture of Russia, in 2019 the number of people employed in agriculture was 4706 thousand people (6.5% of the employed people total number in the Russian Federation); among them only 113 thousand people were specialists in the field of information technology. The shortage of the qualified workforce with skills in digital technologies is more than 90 thousand people. Most respondents acknowledge the advisability of raising the qualifications of agricultural specialists in the field of digital technologies; they note the need to create centers of competence. In the context of macroeconomic and geopolitical instability, ensuring the Russian Federation’s leading position in the world food markets requires a set of institutional solutions aimed at increasing innovative activity in agriculture.

The study adopted a descriptive research design, using a total of 103 (51= crop production) and (52 = animal rearing) farmers selected through a proportionate sampling method from 1300 farmers in Jos North, Jos Nigeria as sample for the study. The questionnaire was used to gather data. The psychometric yielded the following: CVR=1 through Lawshe’s (1975) method and r-coefficient=0.86 using Cronbach Alpha. Data gathered was analyzed using frequency counts and percentages to answer all the research questions through the application of MS Excel 2012 while, using STATAMP 14, the Pearsman Product Moment Correlation (PPMC) was used to establish the linear relationship between the variables under study. The study found hydroponic-No soil needed, aeroponics-growing plants in midair, aquaponics, water reduction intake and utilization by both plants and livestock, Harvest Quality Vision-HQV among others as various methods of agricultural innovations available to farmers. The study established that, the extent to which these innovations are beneficial to farmers is dependent on the availability of the methods. Although, farmers perceived the importance of innovation as a medium to improve food production if innovators manage their innovations through farm organization. The study found that farmers often encountered high cost of innovations, poor level of awareness and environmental factors as constraint towards adopting agricultural innovations. The study concluded that, to ensure food security in the country, there is the need for adoptable innovations. Therefore, platforms made for management of innovation should be made effective to further encourage farmers towards adoption and continuity.

Agricultural innovations involve both social and social-ecological dynamics where outcomes emerge from interactions of innovation actors embedded within their ecological environments. Neglecting the interconnected nature of social-ecological innovations can lead to a flawed understanding and assessment of innovations. In this paper, we present an empirically informed, stylized agent-based model of agricultural innovation systems in Mali, West Africa. The study aimed to understand the emergence of food security and income inequality outcomes through two distinct model structures: top-down, aid-driven (exogenous) innovation and bottom-up, community-driven (endogenous) innovation. Our research questions were: i) How does the inclusion of social-ecological interactions in the model affect food security and income inequality outcomes? ii) How do exogenous and endogenous mechanisms influence food insecurity and income inequality? iii) What are the conditions under which exogenous and endogenous mechanisms would improve food security? The structural design of the model was based on a combination of theory, empirics, and mapping of social-ecological dynamics within innovation systems. Using the Social-Ecological Action Situation framework, we mapped the social, social-ecological, and ecological interactions that jointly produce food security outcomes. The exploratory model analysis reveals three key insights: i) Incorporation of social-ecological interactions influences model outcomes. Scenarios with social-ecological interactions showed a stronger relationship between income inequality and food security, lower levels of food security, and higher levels of income inequality than scenarios with social interactions. ii) Endogenous mechanism leads to higher food security and income inequality than the exogenous mechanism. iii) Bidirectional outreach is more effective than unidirectional outreach in improving food security. Inclusion of social-ecological dynamics and interactions such as the role of climate risk perception, social learning and formation of innovation beliefs and desires is key for modelling and analysis of agricultural innovations.

Bulgarian agriculture lags behind global trends in innovation activity. This is largely due to the fact that it is carried out by predominantly small owners (farmers), who usually do not have a good opportunity to introduce innovations or they underestimate their importance. The results are reduced operational efficiency and problematic development sustainability. Given this, the purpose of this publication is to briefly present the results of a study of the innovation capacity of a sample of Bulgarian farmers, as a condition for the activation of innovations. Such research has not yet been done in our country. The studied sample is not representative of Bulgarian agriculture, but the obtained results are indicative of the innovative possibilities of agricultural producers. Based on them, various comparisons can be made and analyzes relevant to theory and business practice can be carried out.

The article examines the interpretation of the concept of innovation and investment potential. It was found that scientists usually understand the essence of innovation and investment potential by studying its structure. At the same time, the following subsystems are distinguished in separate structures of innovation and investment potential, which, complementing each other, have the formed innovation and investment potential as a result. These subsystems include innovation and investment potential. It is established that the essence of innovation potential can be characterized through the component of economic potential, which contains a separate system of certain resources, opportunities, and capabilities. The latter, in turn, will provide the ability and capacity to carry out attractive innovation activities, the introduction of scientific and technological progress, development and implementation of innovations, as well as support for innovation processes. This will allow to move to a qualitatively new level of development to achieve the appropriate level of competitiveness of the business entity. It is emphasized that the dialectic of interaction of innovation potential and investment potential is to realize investment potential, and it can ensure the transition from economic growth potential to intensive type of economic development of economic entities only if attracting and implementing innovation potential. Also, innovation processes, generation of innovations, transfers of innovations are economically justified and possible only with available investment resources. It is proposed to understand the innovation and investment potential of agribusiness entities, which is a component of economic potential, as the real or potential ability of the business entity to use innovations in its production and management systems through investment tools to model a comprehensive concept of strategic enterprise management. of individual elements, based on certain principles and methods. Innovations are an integral element of the development of economic units, including farms. The main aim of the research was to identify and characterize the implemented innovations and methods of managing them on farms. The research was carried out on the basis of an original survey questionnaire addressed to 80 owners of farms from the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship. The research was carried out between June and November 2020. Research results have shown that innovations in agriculture are implemented mainly for economic reasons. Important reasons for these activities are the desire to achieve higher income, farm development, increase in efficiency and decrease in labor intensity. The most frequently indicated external barriers when trying to implement innovations were difficulties in obtaining the necessary funds, and internal ones: fear of failure and insufficient level of own funds. After implementing the innovation, farmers observed an increase in production capacity and a decrease in labor intensity. Thanks to innovations, many respondents were able to expand the area of their operations and influence the development of their farms.

Consistent measures are being implemented in the Republic of Uzbekistan to ensure wider integration of science, education and production, to create and apply new knowledge, to introduce innovative technologies and best practices. However, the results of the research on the introduction of innovative technologies and the development of the agrarian sector do not reach the lowest levels of the sec-tor, and the problems that have not been solved for years prevent the agricultural sector from developing more rapidly. In order to assess the level of use of innovations and information-advisory services in agriculture, the article carried out a social survey of different categories of participants of the innovation process using the expert evaluation method. Based on the results of the research, the trainings and seminars held in order to increase the knowledge and skills of the farmers on the use of innovative technologies, their ability to apply them in practice, the demand for innovations and the directions of the innovations being introduced, and the forms of providing information about the innovations in agriculture for farmers and peasants are presented. Also, the author expressed his views on the results of the introduction and use of innovations in the agricultural sector.

The authors have analyzed the legal acts regulating accountancy in the Russian Federation and concluded that they contain no definitions, classification or descriptions of innovations, which makes it problematic to put the corresponding provisions of State programs into practice. The authors suggest singling out “expenditure on innovation” as a separate object of accounting and define it as expenditure for the purpose of improving the quality of production, works and service as well as improving the organizational and management system. This new level of quality can be measured by means of the following indicators: physical properties, chemical composition, technical and economic indicators. In view of the fact that investments in innovation can be referred to as both fixed capital (intangible assets, constant assets) and working capital (elite seeds, young animals, innovative biological additives etc.), the authors suggest adding to entry 08 “Investments in fixed assets” sub-entry 9 “Creating or purchasing innovations as part of fixed capital” and sub-entry 10 “Creating or purchasing innovations as part of working capital”. Unlike most studies that focused on specific innovations, this study systematically analyzed farmers’ adoption of agricultural innovations in general. It reports willingness to pay (WTP; willingness to accept (WTA)) as a proxy for adoption, its determinants, applied methods, and statistical models. After searching and screening, 80 studies qualified for review. Majority ( n = 30) of studies focused on farmers’ WTP for innovations in agricultural water provision or environmental and crop protection ( n = 35), while the remaining studies handled crop or animal improvement innovations. Most studies were performed in developing countries, using stated preference methods for economic valuation, with 55% of the studies ( n = 44) applying contingent valuation compared to 39% taking choice modeling approach. While farmers are generally willing to pay premium for improvement in agriculture technologies, WTP (WTA) depends on the innovation (system). For example, premiums ranged from about 0.125 to 2 USD/m3 of water depending on water supply (e.g. ground vs. surface water). Furthermore, the determinants of farmers’ WTP can be grouped into sociodemographic, biophysical, technological, institutional, and behavioral factors. As illustrated by relatively high WTP, the review demonstrates that farmers embrace most innovations, regardless of the context and methods applied.

This abstract examines the role of innovation in improving the efficiency of agricultural production in Kazakhstan. Agriculture is an important sector of Kazakhstan's economy, determining not only the country's food security, but also its economic development. In today's rapidly changing world, it faces a number of challenges, such as changing climatic conditions, environmental threats, limited resources and competition in global markets. To effectively overcome these challenges, it is necessary to actively introduce innovative technologies in agriculture. The purpose of this work is to analyze the role of innovation in improving the efficiency of agricultural production in Kazakhstan. At the beginning of the study, the current state of the country's agricultural sector is considered, its main problems and challenges are identified. Then, the importance of innovations in agriculture is analyzed in detail, their impact on increasing productivity, improving product quality, reducing costs and minimizing negative environmental impacts.

The diffusion of innovations is largely influenced by the characteristics of the network of initial adopters (or innovation spreader). We investigate how these characteristics tend to influence the adoption rate and the speed of the diffusion process of a technological innovation in agriculture. The diffusion process is simulated through an Agent Based Model that replicates real-world data. We found that the closeness and the clusterization of the networks are the variables that tend to affect the most the capability of spreading innovations among members. Our findings have direct policy implications: since innovations help advancing the economic development of the agricultural sector, promoting the emergence of networks that have desirable characteristics would enhance growth. Our analysis provides specific insights on how to plan networks with desirable characteristics for the innovation spreaders.

The agro-food sector is one of the key industries that provides humanity with essential food products. However, it has faced challenges in sustainable development and environmental safety, raising questions about the efficiency and sustainability of this industry. Accordingly, there is ample room for innovation in the agro-food sector. The article analyzes the innovative activity in the agro-food sector at the present stage. The main problems and shortcomings of innovation development in this industry are identified, and the most influential factors that impede the development and implementation of innovative technologies in agriculture are considered. The main objectives of the study are to analyze the processes of innovation development in the agricultural industry in Ukraine, identify the main shortcomings and problems that hinder innovation development in this industry, and list the factorsthat will contribute to the development of innovative processes in Ukrainian agricultural enterprises. Various research methods were used to address the tasks at hand, including general scientific methods such as analysis and synthesis; scientific abstraction; induction and deduction, as well as specialized methods such as a monographic approach (during the study of the current state of innovation processes in the agricultural sector of Ukraine); and a comprehensive approach (during the development of recommendations for the development of innovations in the agro-industrial sector). It was determined that the agro-industrial complex occupies a leading position among industries that significantly influence the economic situation in Ukraine. It was noted thatone of the leading roles in the effective development of innovative technologies, particularly in agriculture, is played by innovative infrastructure: technoparks, business incubators, as they contribute to entering the innovation market. The use of cutting-edge technologies, the implementation of smart production management systems, which make it possible to increase efficiency, reduce costs, and provide more accurate planning, were also discussed. Proposed innovations, such as support in the fields of breeding, nanotechnology, and genetic engineering, have significant potential for improving the efficiency and resilience of production and activity in the agricultural sector of Ukraine.

In sub-Saharan Africa, development and dissemination of perceived new agricultural innovations dominate the development agenda yet hunger and poverty remain widespread. A conducive policy environment is essential to support these efforts. Despite that national policies are a critical component in the functioning of an agricultural innovation system, studies have often overlooked their relevance in farmers’ adoption of agricultural innovations. There is an urgent need to enhance understanding of how policies affect long-term adoption of agricultural innovations aimed at increasing productivity and incomes of smallholder farmers. This study utilises thematic content analysis to examine the extent of integration of Conservation Agriculture (CA) and coherence in Malawi’s national agricultural policies, and their implication for CA adoption among smallholder farmers.Results indicate that inadequate integration of CA in the National Agricultural Policy (NAP), coupled with a lack of coherence of agricultural department policies, undermines farmers’ CA adoption. While inadequate integration constrains resource allocation for supporting CA activities, lack of coherence of agricultural policies radiates conflicting and confusing agricultural extension messages to smallholder farmers. We argue that inadequate CA integration and incoherence of policies are institutional constraints which prevent farmers’ sustained adoption. To facilitate long-term adoption of CA among smallholders, there is need to: (1) strengthen CA integration in agricultural policies; (2) improve departmental coordination to enhance coherence of agricultural strategies and extension messages disseminated to farmers; and (3) strengthen government’s role in supporting multi-disciplinary research to generate and disseminate best practices capable of sustaining CA adoption.

Its sustainable development depends on various factors including in particular the introduction of innovations into the economic sphere of a specific agricultural producer. Latest research analysis. Economists and lawyers research the issues of agricultural innovations. We can outstand the scientific works by Kot O., Larina S., Oliynyk О., Mazurenko O., Semchyk V. These works consider agricultural innovations as an economic phenomenon without taking into account the legal aspect. This approach seems to be somewhat narrow. Discussion. Agricultural innovations are the result of the realization of the entity’s intellectual property (inventions, useful models, new kinds of plants) in the field of agrobusiness that is aimed at obtaining economic, social, environmental effects. In agricultural production agricultural innovations can be found in the area of crop growing, animal husbandry, fishing industry, agricultural engineering, organic production. Conclusions and prospects. Innovative legal relations in the field of agrobusiness are the relations that arise between specific entities and the ones in agricultural business concerning the order, the use of a new agricultural product, the technologies of agricultural products’ production, the maintenance of digital agricultural production in the field of agrobusiness for making profit, gaining positive social ecological effect. Agricultural innovations as an object of innovative agrarian relations are the important factors in the formation of national agrobusiness. Their use leads to an innovative model of agricultural production. The demand for innovative products allows to make an innovative chain of agrobusiness and it includes: the development of innovation, its commercialization, the operation of agricultural production, consumers’ offer for agricultural products, including innovations.

AbstractInnovations are the driving force for agricultural development under present diverse situations of uncertainty. The innovation system perspective acknowledges the contributions made by all stakeholders involved in knowledge development, dissemination and appropriation. According to the specific agricultural production system, farmers adopt innovations, modify them or innovate on their own. This paper examines the role of farmers' experiments and innovations in Cuba's agricultural innovation system (AIS), identifies knowledge exchange encounters and describes some strategies implemented to institutionalize farmers' experiments and innovations. The research methods comprised 34 semi-structured interviews with agricultural experts from the science, administration and advisory system, and 31 free list questionnaires to assess the institutional influence on farmers' experiments and innovations. In addition, three case studies of outstanding farmers' experiments are presented. The results suggest that the government's commitment to social participation in knowledge development provides the basic prerequisite for an effective integration of farmers' experiments and innovation in Cuba. The historically conditioned vertical structure of knowledge development and dissemination is gradually changing toward more horizontal procedures. The dynamic exchange of ideas at all kinds of interactive meetings, such as workshops or farmers' field schools, have favored farmer to farmer learning as well as knowledge sharing with research, academic and extension officials. This multi-stakeholders' approach contributes to institutionalize farmers' knowledge. Farmers' experiments and innovations play a major role in improving farm management and thereby can contribute to build resilience at the farming system level as well as for the national agricultural system.

Agricultural chambers together with agricultural advisory centers and other entities are part of the European Union Agricultural Knowledge and Innovation System (AKIS). The system consists of a network of entities whose activities are focused on the introduction of new products, technologies, and organizational forms for use in agriculture. The AKIS is also defined as a network of research institutes, advisory centers, agricultural chambers, agricultural schools, and other non-governmental organizations that help farmers to upgrade the innovativeness and competitiveness of their farms and solve agriculture-related problems. In Poland, the activities of self-government in the agricultural sector are specified by the Act on Agricultural Chambers of 14 December 1995. An important research problem is the assessment of the activities of agricultural chambers in terms of the transfer of knowledge and innovations in agriculture in Poland and the determination of their place in the AKIS. This study of the impact of agricultural self-government on the transfer of knowledge and innovations in agriculture was carried out through the analysis of selected agricultural chambers in various regions of Poland taking into account the differences in the average surface area of agricultural land belonging to one farm. The research shows that agricultural chambers’ activities had a substantial impact on the rate of absorption of EU funds under the Rural Development Program in the analyzed regions. The comparison of the effectiveness of the agricultural chambers in Poland with the activities of chambers in the other EU Member States indicates a weak influence of the former on developmental processes in agriculture. Agricultural chambers should actively participate in the formulation of the national agricultural policy, take greater measures to ensure the stability of agricultural income and the flow of information, and be an important partner for farmers in representing their interests.
