Resumen
AbstractLean design and agile design paradigms have been proposed for designing robots; yet, none of them could strike a balance between cost-effectiveness and short duration of the design process without compromising the quality of performance. The present article identifies the key determinants of the mobile robots development process. It also identifies empirically the mobile robot design activities and strategies with the most influence on mobile robot performance. The study identified statistically the mobile robot design activities and strategies most positively correlated with mobile robot performance. The results showed that 65% of typical mobile robot design activities and strategies are affiliated with the lean design paradigm, while the remaining 35% are affiliated with the agile design paradigm. In addition, it was found that 22% of the lean mobile robot design activities and strategies and 25% of the agile mobile robot design activities and strategies, significantly with 99% confidence, are among the design activities and strategies most positively correlated with improving mobile robot performance. A hybrid lean-agile design paradigm is thus proposed.

Resumen
Due to digital transformation, technology advancements, telework, we can no longer pretend that traditional work offers high incentives and efficiency, but on the contrary, traditional work falls behind each year, deeming organizations and individuals to adopt the agile work. Rapid technological developments have altered the way businesses operate, with the goal of producing viable solutions in an environment fraught with unpredictability. This paper is a theoretical narrative review on the general topic of agile work. The present paper addresses the issue of determining the best international practices for implementing agile methodology at work, carrying out a theoretical narrative review. Basing on literature on present-day theory the authors make an attempt to explain the implications of implementing agile methodologies into organizational culture, summarize existing approaches to classifying the main effects on implementing agile methodologies at work, consolidate and document best international practices for agile methodologies development among employers. After defining the concepts of agile method tailoring and agile maturity, the data obtained in the theoretical narrative analysis reveal that the implementing agile methodologies have a direct impact on management style, on teams, on learning environments, and on employee’s mental health. An overall conclusions and discussions section is presented along with the personal opinion of authors. This work is intended to open a post-pandemic agile work research methodology, since there are no systematic approaches to this topic.

Resumen
Software engineering companies have progressively incorporated agile project management methodologies. Initially, this migration occurred mostly in the context of startups, but in recent years it has also sparked interest from other companies with larger and more geographically dispersed teams. One of the frameworks used for large-scale agile implementation is the LeSS framework. This study seeks to explore how Management 3.0 principles can be applied in the context of the ten practices proposed in the LeSS framework. To this end, a qualitative research methodology based on four case studies is used to identify and explore the role of Management 3.0 in software management and development processes that adopt this agile paradigm. The findings show that the principles of Management 3.0 are relevant to the implementation of the LeSS framework practices, especially in fostering team values and personal values; however, distinct principles between the two paradigms are also identified, namely the greater rigidity of processes advocated in the LeSS framework and a greater focus on process automation.

Resumen
Method engineering models and techniques have been extensively used for turning traditional methods into project-specific methods. However, it is increasingly being recognized that there exists a ‘dynamic’ and ‘light-weight’ methodology as well. These methodologies are popularly addressed as an agile methodology. Agile methodologies are gaining importance in many organisations. The thesis addresses the issue of providing project-specific methods for both traditional paradigm and agile paradigm. The solution starts by providing a decision support system that helps to predict the appropriate methodological model for the current project. The Decision support system based on the defined the set of weighted project characteristics along with the project-specific input metrics for these project characteristics. Further, thesis move towards the method configuration process for providing project-specific methods for both traditional paradigm and agile paradigm. The proposed method configuration process is analogous to system configuration. The system configuration is based on the construction of a ‘configurable system model’ that represents the essential system concepts and the interrelationship between these. Similarly, method configuration processes based on ‘configurable methods’ having as essentiality attribute. The process starts by developing a configurable Metamodel capable enough to model the concepts of the configurable method. The configurable Metamodel is an instantiation of decisional Metamodel that is an instantiation of generic Metamodel. Therefore, the proposed Metamodel is an instantiation of the generic model. Now just as the system configuration process yields a family of configured methods so also the method configuration process produces a family of methods. Further, the process was validated with the help of case studies in different domains.

Today organizations and companies maintain well-structured and widely adopted project management standards and practices. Such is the case of ISO 21500 and PMBoK 5. Nevertheless, when using agile methodologies within the context of projects of information systems and technologies, new challenges arise regarding the conciliation of the agile practices with structured paradigms of project management. This thesis is focused on finding answers to the research question “How to combine structured paradigms of project management with agile methodologies”, through the usage of Design Science Research (DSR) methodological approach. As a result of the work carried out, a new project management method based on PMBoK and Scrum is presented. This method combines the usage of structured project management methodologies with agile methodologies.

New Work. New Mindset. Future Skills.

AbstractAdvanced systems engineering (ASE) is a new paradigm for agile, efficient, evolutionary, and quality-aware development of complex cyber-physical systems using modern digital technologies and tools. ASE is essentially enabled by smart digital modeling tools for specifying, modeling, testing, simulating, and analyzing the system under development embedded in a coherent and consistent methodology. The German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) projects SPES2020, SPES_XT, and CrESt offer such a methodology and framework for model-based systems engineering (MBSE). The framework provides a comprehensive methodology for MBSE that is independent of tools and modeling languages. The framework also offers a comprehensive set of concrete modeling techniques and activities that build on a formal, mathematical foundation. The SPES framework is based on four principles that are of paramount importance: (1) Functional as well as non-functional requirements fully modeled and understood at system level. (2) Consistent consideration of interfaces at each system level. (3) Decomposition of systems into subsystems and their interfaces. (4) Models for a variety of cross-sectional topics (e.g., variability, safety, dynamics).
