The anonymous Old English translation of the Admonitio ad Filium Spiritualem ascribed to St. Basil has hitherto been accessible only in the 1848/9 editions ofHW. Norman and the 1974 unpublished PhD dissertation ofL.E. Mueller. This edition takes into consideration the work of both editors, but pursues the relevant issues somethat further, beginning with the ascription of the work to iElfric. I use the single authoritative Hatton Ms 76A as the basis for my text; the critical introduction includes sections on the history of this manuscript and its two transcriptions, its possible relation to known Latin manuscripts of the text, and its orthography, punctuation and accent marks, and a full list of the annotations in the tremulous hand of the Worcester scribe. In considering the transmission of the text to iElfric, I include sections on St. Basil's status as a monastic legislator to explain the text's currency, the penitential tradition and the place of the Admonitio within the iElfiic canon. I conclude with analysis of the Old English text, its linguistic focus, style and structure, arguing that the Old English text may not be as incomplete as has previously been thought. To accompany my text I provide textual notes, a full commentary, which includes identification of the sources of some concepts not found in the Latin, and a Glossary. As Appendices I include a transcription of a part of Bodley Ms 800, the closest available version of iElfric's source, a provisional handlist of manuscripts in British libraries and elsewhere containing part or all of the Latin Admonitio, and a list of the accent marks on Hatton Ms 76A, ff 55-67v, together with a chart to show their line-distribution.

China's Reform Era (1978-present) has seen the reinvigoration of academic, and artistic practice, and a rapprochement between the Chinese Communist Party and the intellectual elite. At its beginnings in the early- to mid-1980s the new availability of foreign texts and media led to Culture Fever, a widespread phenomenon throughout the intellectual and artistic spheres characterized by enthusiasm for the philosophy, literature, and art of the West and pre-Communist China and the simultaneous uptake of discrete Western and Confucian philosophies. These discussions often addressed modernity and modernism in China, a crucial homology to early twentieth century Chinese negotiations in literature and the arts and the development of an amalgamated "Chinese modernism" comprised of elements of both Confucian and Western philosophy and aesthetics. As this dissertation argues, key early experimental works of the Reform Era by Zhang Peili, Wu Shanzhuan, and Zhang Huan reveal a proclivity for subtle and indirect admonitory messages about China's socio-political climate - a contemporary inhabitation of the traditional elite scholar-artist and his obligation to criticize immoral or unjust policies or actions. This admonitory practice was built by artists educated in elite academies (specifically, the Central Academy of Fine Art in Beijing and the Zhejiang Academy of Fine Art in Hangzhou) yet utilized completely new and non-academic media. What this thesis terms as an "art of admonition" utilized traditional tropes, including direct remonstrations of officials, withdrawal from official life in protest, and the concept of the "middle hermit" - a scholar who admonishes official policy subtly and indirectly. The experimental practices of artists after their graduation from elite academies stemmed from the extra-curricular resources made available to them, especially the schools' libraries. The connection of these unofficial works to the official academies, their validation by art market success, and the subsequent official endorsement accorded to these and other artists in the later Reform Era blurs the distinctions between official and unofficial artistic practice in China, suggesting a strong endorsement of the dissident artist's role as "middle hermit."

The British understanding of Chinese painting owed much to Laurence Binyon (1869-1943) who enriched the British Museum’s collections of Oriental painting, and for almost forty years, published widely and delivered lectures in Britain and abroad. Binyon’s legacy is to be found in several archival resources scattered in Britain, America, Japan and China. This dissertation is a study of the reception of Chinese painting in early twentieth century Britain, and examines Binyon’s contribution to its appreciation and criticism in the West. By examining the William Anderson collection of Japanese and Chinese paintings (1881), I illuminate Anderson’s way of seeing Chinese pictorial art and his influence on Binyon’s early study of Oriental painting. I argue that the early scroll, The Admonitions of the Court Instructress, which Binyon encountered in 1903, ignited his interest in the study of traditional Chinese painting, yet his conception of Chinese pictorial art was influenced by Japanese and Western expertise. To reveal the British taste and growing interest in Chinese painting around 1910, Binyon’s involvements in major acquisitions and exhibitions of Chinese paintings at the British Museum, including the Sir Aurel Stein collection (1909) and the Frau Olga-Julia Wegener collection (1910), as well as his visits to Western collections of Chinese art in America and Germany, will be investigated. In order to understand the relevance and values of Chinese painting for the development of early twentieth-century British art, I also scrutinize how the principle of “rhythmic vitality” or qiyun shengdong, as well as the Daoist-and Zen-inspired aesthetic ideas were assiduously promoted in Binyon’s writings on Chinese painting, and how Chinese art and thought kindled British modernists to fuse art with life in order to re-vitalize the spirit of modern European art with non-scientific conceptions.

Admonition in preschool, super damaging or the dream! - A qualitative study about conflict management amongst preschool teachers har undersökt vilken uppfattning förskollärare har gällande tillrättavisning vid konflikthantering samt vilka strategier som används i de situationer då tillrättavisning erfordras. Grundat i en kvalitativ metod genomfördes semistrukturerade intervjuer, vilka kopplades till den medvetenhet förskollärare har om konflikthantering vid olika tillrättavisningssituationer. Valet av intervjumodell landade på personliga intervjuer. Detta för att lyfta fram individuella upplevelser och tolkningar. En intervjuguide togs i förväg fram och utformades i syfte att ge respondenterna utrymme för egen reflektion. Intervjuerna understöddes av etiska ställningstaganden. Urvalet bestod av förskollärare från tre olika förskolor. Intervjusvar analyserades och kategoriserades baserat på respondenternas uppfattning om tillrättavisning som begrepp men även baserat på förskollärares kompetens. Erhållet resultat visade att strategier som verbal tillsägning, samspel och åsidosättning förekommer hos urvalet av förskollärare. Det visades också att den strategi som respondenterna strävar efter att nyttja är samspel, men att det inte är möjligt i alla situationer. Konflikter som kan leda till fara eller skada bör hanteras snabbt och då är det mest tillgängligt att använda verbal tillsägning som strategi. Vidare betonades kompetens som en betydande faktor vid val av strategi, där respondenterna syftade till förskollärares förhållningssätt, förskollärares erfarenhet och betydelsen av utbildning. Även relationen mellan lärare-barn lyftes fram som en del inom kompetens.

Resumo: A partir do panorama geral dos chamados direitos fundamentais, o presente trabalho busca, com particular enfoque no princípio que estabelece o direito a processo em tempo razoável, examinar a possibilidade do uso da ação monitória como instrumento eficiente de coerção jurisdicional da Fazenda Pública a mais célere adimplemento de certas obrigações, representadas em documento desprovido de força executiva. Considera, inicialmente, que a garantia de integral observância dos preceitos constitucionais correspondentes àqueles, voltados à construção de uma ordem jurídica justa, constitui razão essencial do moderno Estado Democrático de Direito, cuja concepção importa em admitir, muitas vezes, o uso de mecanismos de defesa das pessoas contra a força do próprio aparelho estatal. Analisa, nesse quadro, a importância de assegurar efetivo acesso de todos à Justiça, bem como discorre sobre o papel exercido pela jurisdição e sobre a necessidade de haver um sistema processual eficaz à concreta realização de direitos. Refere o esforço mais atual de legisladores, administradores públicos e operadores jurídicos, no Brasil, para o desenvolvimento de meios eficazes à solução de litígios, notadamente no âmbito do processo judicial, mediante inovações diversas, incluída previsão de tutelas jurisdicionais diferenciadas, entre as quais se inscreve aquela propiciada pela ação de conteúdo monitório, introduzida em data relativamente recente na legislação brasileira. Abstract: From an analysis of the fundamental rights, especially the right to a lawsuit within a reasonable length of time, this study aims to examine the use of the admonition action as an efficient instrument to compel the Public Treasury to carry out Court orders. The work ponders that the complete observance of the constitutional rules related to essential rights constitutes the main cause of the Democratic Constitutional State, whose conception sometimes involves the use of people's defense mechanisms against the State itself. In this sense the study analyzes the importance to assecure everyone's access to Justice and examines the necessity of a process system that guarantees concrete rights. It also mentions the present effort of the Parliament, the Government and the jurists in Brazil to develop effective ways to solve conflicts, especially in the lawsuit ambit. This objective is achieved by several innovations as differentiated jurisdictional tutelages such as the admonition action, which has recently been introduced in the Brazilian legislation. After insisting on the instrumental aspect of the process system, which must reach social pacification and constitutional aims, the work points out the admonition action characteristics and evaluates its possibility to fulfill certain credits within a reasonable period of time. Finally the study reflects on the peculiarities of the credits opposed to the Public Treasury and ponders the viability of the admonition action use against public entities, considering their process prerogatives and the public interest.

Ban Zhao, Dong_ Han Dynasty, named Chao, was a prominent family. His father was Ban Biao. His brother, Ban Gu, the writer of “the History of Han Dynasty” . Ban Zhao represented his country as an ambassador to the Western Countries for 30 years and do some merits from his country. Ban Zhao was deeply influenced since childhood and well educated. Therefore, she had ample knowledge and high talents written by “historic records”. Her elder brother, Ban Gu, edited ““the History of Han Dynasty”, unfortunately unfinished and died immediately. The emperor asked her to the palace to continue to edit "The History of Han Dynasty" and complete ”eight tables” as well as “astronomical annals”, so later generations called her as a historian, while “the History of Han Dynasty” began to published, most people failed to understand, Ban Zhao also served to explain “the History of Han Dynasty", palace minister followed by her reading. In the palace, she was also involved in the political activities and help to deal with political affairs, also known as politicians. She was also a writer. While the palace often got some contributes from the foreign countries, she was often asked to do” Fu”. In his old age, Ban Zhao do a "female Commandments, the object is written to the unmarried daughter to see, she advocated that women should also be educated, though more than a thousand words, the content was specific and spread to become woman education materials at that time, " The History of Later Han Dynasty", the original work of Ban Zhao, it collected this work and became future generations to emulate. Their offspring work content were modeled on. Therefore, Ban Zhao, also known as an educator. Her book "Women Commandments” opened the great importance of education for girls, therefore “the female Commandments” discussed the situation in the spread of the generations; the contents of future generations of women's educational development, then explored the contents and ideas, and explored “the female Commandments” literary performance, a glimpse of her literary talent, the significance of “female Commandments” given by the value of traditional and modern eras. Xingce Jieliu 行策截流 (1626 - 1680) was a famous Pure Land Master in the Qing Dynasty. He devoted to the Pure Land practice for self liberation in early life, and propagated the Pure Land practice for liberating sentient beings in later life. The Admonitions of Pure Land (Jingtu Jingyu 淨土警語) is the representative work of Xingce. In this work, Xingce emphasized on the True Faith for rebirth in the Pure Land and the most expedient Buddhist teaching is to be born in the Pure Land by reciting the name of Amitābha Buddha. Xingce adopted Tiantai’s doctrines as the theoretical foundations to support Pure Land practice. For his great dedication, Master Yinguang honored Xingce as the 10th patriarch of the Pure Land School. Xingce promoted the Lotus Society and the seven days of Buddha–recitation retreat for both monastics and devotees in the Puren Temple. He set a new regulation for seven days of Buddha-recitation retreat and compiled into a work called the “The Regulations of Wholesome Practice of Buddha-recitation in the Seven Periods (Qi Yixin Jingjin Nianfo Qiqi Guishi 起一心精進念佛七期規式).”

Abstract Yuan Huang, the author of “Liao-Fan’s Four Admonitions”, is the prominent scholar in the end of Ming Dynasty. He had written four articles to admonish his son to have a morality of kindness. “Liao-Fan’s Four Admonitions” blends the basic concepts of cultivating kindness from the three religions, Confucianism, Buddhism ,and Taoism. It becomes the role model of Chinese society at that time. The folk belief in the end of Ming Dynasty presents “Three Theories As One” vigorously. It is the religious phenomenon which has combined the different asian humanistic thoughts since the ancient times. With the thoughts of ethics in Confucianism, the concept of transcending the world in Buddhism, and the thought of attaining immortality in Taoism, the three religions merge together to show the coexistence of multiple religions in people’s lifestyles. Based on Yuan Huang’s “Liao-Fan’s Four Admonitions”, the thesis will discuss the meaning of “Three Theories As One” from the three viewpoints: self-reflection (self-inspection), revised living philosophy, and the morality of cultivating kindness. Furthermore, we can learn the complementary characters of the three religions from people’s initial reliance on the fate-divination in I-Ching to the acceptance of karma in Buddhism. Abstract The main purpose of the study is to plan and implement a suitable education program. The " Children’s Self-Concept Scale "& " Children’s Peer Relationships Scale "were utilized.Feedback from students/parents and deep interviews were collected and analyzed.There results were as the followings:   The research adopts quasi-experimentaled design and focuses on the second graders in an elementary school in New Tapei City. The experimental process lasts for a semester. The experimental group takes eight week experimental classes; twice in one week, and 16 classes in total. The comparison group does not take any experimental classes. As for the Test“The Scale of self-concepts questionnaire”(Li-tsu Chen,2010)& " The Scale of Interpersonal Relationships "(Shu-ling Yu,2006)is used as the commenting material quantitatively. In addition, feedback forms from students/parents and interviewing records are also included as evaluation tools. The research uses ANCOVA to analyze statistics.   The research results are generalized as follows: 1.There were immediate and sustained effects in promoting self-concept by infusing the Liao-Fan’s Four Admonitions into moral education teaching. 2.There were immediate and sustained effects in promoting peer-relationship by infusing the Liao-Fan’s Four Admonitions into moral education teaching.  According to the results mentioned above, som concrete suggestions to domestic were made,relative researches and practicers as reference. The main purpose of the study is to plan and implement a suitable education program. It utilizes via implementing the "Life Attitude Scale Test" , feedback from students/parents and deep interviews to understand the effect of Liao-fan''s Four Admonitions pertaining to into life education teaching on the sixth grade students'' life attitudes in elementary school. We try to achieve the following goals: 1. To plan and implement a program about Liao-fan''s Four Admonitions integrated into life education teaching in elementary school students. 2. To explore the effect of Liao-fan''s Four Admonitions integrated into life education teaching on elementary school students. 3. According to the research, we propose results and suggestions as a reference for implementing education programs into life education teaching of elementary school teachers.     The research adopts quasi-experimentaled design and focuses on the sixth graders in an elementary school in Chia-yi City. The experimental process lasts for a semester. The experimental group takes eighteen experimental classes; twice in one time, and 36 classes in total. The comparison group does not take any experimental classes. As for the Test Man-Ying Hsieh''s life attitude scale(2003)is used as the commenting material quantitatively. In addition, feedback forms from students/parents and interviewing records are also included as evaluation tools. The research uses ANCOVA to analyze statistics.     The research results are generalized as follows: 1. Integrating the Liao-fan''s Four Admonitions into life education teaching imposes instant effects on "Tatal Scale of Elementary School High Grade Students'' Life Attitude" , "Love With Concern" , "Existence of Myself" , "Life Experience" and "Death Attitude" . 2. Integrating the Liao-fan''s Four Admonitions into life education teaching imposes continuously and procrastinated effects on "Tatal Scale of Elementary School High Grade Students'' Life Attitude" , "Love With Concern", "Existence of Myself" , "Life Experience" , "Life Independence" , "Life Goal" and "Death Attitude" . 3. Integrating the Liao-fan''s Four Admonitions into life education teaching has the educational effect on the elementary school students. 4. It''s necessary to implement the life education integrated into the Liao-fan''s Four Admonitions.     According to the above-mentioned, we propose concrete suggestions to domestic relative researches and practicers as reference.

ABSTRACT Interlanguage pragmatics (ILP) is an important field in foreign language teaching and learning. Among ILP studies, speech acts has been widely discussed because the data can be easily observed in daily life. However, few studies have been done on the speech act of admonition. Thus, the purpose of the present study aimed to fill this gap and had two major purposes. One was to investigate the different admonition behaviors between teachers with more than ten-year teaching experiences and teachers less than ten-year teaching experiences. The other was to examine whether English-major and non English-major teachers’ educational backgrounds affect on the speech act of admonition. Our data were recruited from four participant groups: 30 English teachers with ten-year-teaching experience (EE), 30 English teachers with less than ten-year-teaching experience (EL), 30 the non-English teachers with ten-year-teaching experience (NEE), and 30 non-English teachers with less than ten-year teaching experience (NEL). The two experienced groups provided the baseline data for language and cultural comparisons. The research instrument was a questionnaire consisting of three major parts: Scaled Response Questionnaire (SRQ), Discourse Completion Task (DCT), and interviews. The questionnaire included 10 scenarios. All the scenarios varied according to two contextual factors, social status and social distance. Elicited data were coded on the basis of a data-driven coding scheme, consisting of 13 head act strategies, softening devices, and reasons of opting out. Both quantitative and qualitative analyses were conducted to examine participants’ admonition. The results showed that there were similarities and differences among the four subject groups. The similarities lay in their overall perception of face to face interaction and the perception under the influence of social status. That is, the four groups in general had similar perception toward the overall speech act of admonition, and they also regarded social status as an important factor in their metapragmatic assessment. On the other hand, the difference was that English-major teachers perceived social distance as an important factor when admonishing people, whereas non-English-major teachers did not. Despite the similarities, there were pragmalinguistic and sociopragmatic differences found between the two English-major groups performances. The EL group tended to use wh-questions to make indirect accusations, whereas the EE tended to use yes/no questions with negative orientation. The ELs were also found to state facts of annoyance regardless of the interlocutor’s status. The way they showed politeness was to use external downgrading devices. In addition, the quantitative and qualitative analyses indicated that our English teachers’ admonishment exhibited pragmatic transfer of L1, approximation to L2 and their interlanguage development. However, non-English major teachers were highly influenced by native Chinese culture. Obviously, the interlanguage development would result in pragmatic failure and communication breakdown. In order to help our English learners cast away the potential difficulties, it is necessary to introduce cross-cultural and interlanguage pragmatics in the further English education.

This thesis is a research of admonition as a speech act, including the framework and the statistics of general attitudes, factors and strategies. The author defines “admonition” as “the speaker gives a direction based on the rules to the hearer whose thought or behavior is against the rules in the same community” while the prerequisite is that there is at least one general rule set in every community which each member has the duty to obey and the authority to explain by his/her comprehension. If both the speaker and the hearer belong to different communities in different levels, the rule set varies with the contexts and the communities. 71.7% of the survey responser indicates their attitudes vary with opponents, occasions and events when they admonish. The highest percentage of direct admonition is to close friends and family, in private occasions, with important events concerning with the mutual rights or benefits. The highest percentage of euphemistic admonition is to familiar but not intimate people, in private occasions, with important events concerning with the mutual rights or benefits. The stereotype strategies are instruction, negative comment and warning while the variable strategies are threatening, setting the essential conditions, sarcasm and explaining the advantages.

Regardless of the pattern of construction disputes, will creates additional costs in terms of money and time for both owner and contractor. The Taiwanese government promulgated the Government Procurement Act (GPA) on the 27th of May, 1998, and administer on the 27th of May, 1999. This Act established a system of government characterized by fair and open procurement procedures, which promotes efficient and effective government procurement operations, and ensures procurement quality. The most notable achievement of this act was to create a system for the government to use in mediating construction disputes. This mediation system establishes the Complaint Review Board for Government Procurement (CRBGP) committee by Public Construction Commission (PCC) which acts as an impartial third-party for mediating disputes when contractors submitted requests to mediate construction disputes based on chapter six of the GPA. This Act established a Dispute Mediation System (DMS) to mediate construction disputes involving contractors and the administration and attempted to reduce associated litigation. However, the DMS system does not become active in mediating construction disputes until submit a specifically requested by the contractor. This study not only introduces this dispute mediation system but also analyzes previous dispute mediation cases involving Taiwanese infrastructure projects, including dispute patterns, succinct case explanations, and mediation suggestions. Additional, in this study, 491 dispute cases mediated by the Complaint Review Board for Government Procurement (CRBGP) committee were collected and analyzed. In the first place, the construction types, dispute cause, and mediating items of the dispute cases were summarized. Secondly, the Likert-type Scale was used in the questionnaire surveys and the dispute factors were verified using item, factor, and reliability analyses together with the results of the mediation. Thirdly, to develop two prediction models for construction projects. The first model, the verified data were analyzed using a Fuzzy-theory to develop an automation dispute early admonition system. Both of the administration and contractor can stand on their organization parameters, engineering parameters and contract parameters to evaluate the possibility of dispute of construction project for early admonition, previously. The second model, the verified data were analyzed using a back-propagation neural network in order to develop a model of an automatic prediction which can help both parties understand the possible results of dispute mediation. The major contribution of this study is that the automatic neural network model can be applied to construction dispute cases on site. Thus, when cases are quickly resolved without going through the mediating procedures, both parties benefit from it. The major contribution of this study is that the both of automatic Fuzzy-theory dispute early admonition system and Neural-network mediation result prediction model can be applied to construction dispute cases on site. Thus, when cases are quickly resolved without going through the mediating procedures, both parties benefit from it.

In 1960''s, the pig farming was an auxiliary occupation and very popular for the country yard in Taiwan. Normally, each household kept average 5 pigs, when developed to the 90''s, the scale raises to more than 300 pigs and became intensive. After rapid expansion, the pig industry realizes the importance of farming skills and the efficiency on the management. From the 90''s, pig farmers invest massive automatic equipment and the computerized recording and management system to support the operation of pig farms. Afterwards, it has been through repeatedly the foot-and-mouth disease, Taiwan joined the World Trade Organization (WTO) and the foreseeable trade liberalization impact cause pig profit to drop Therefore, pig farming is not only improving producers’ technical skills ,but also simultaneously of computerized management decision system on farm. Furthermore, the admonition of computerized system needs to be established. At present, above 1,000 pig farms applied all kinds of computerized management system, most systems are keeping accounts and the cost analysis only, the related system decision-making and the admonition ability function are quite weak. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to evaluate the admonition of computerized management system to support the operation of pig farms, and to increase the operation efficiency of pig farming. The anticipated decision-making and the admonition may be able to assist industry in reducing the nonessential loss and to adjust production structure in advance.
