Texto completoStudying luminescent properties of nanoparticles leads to informations about elementary mechanisms connected to the luminescence. As it has been done for semiconductors (quantum confinement effect for instance), we want to evaluate the influence of parameters like size or composition of insulating nanoparticles on their luminescence. In this purpose, we had to develop a versatile tool, able to efficiently excite these particles, then perform their image and their spectroscopy. The achromatic confocal microscope built during my phD work and hosted in the Nanoptec center is able to fill these aims : tunable wavelenght from deep UV (210 nm) to IR (about 1 μm), spatial resolution of about 1 μm (enables us to work on sufficiently separated particules), confocal aspect leading to a spatial isolation of the studied object luminescence, detection system able to spectrally select this luminescence... We made various collaborations with teams in and out of the laboratory, such as spatial cartography of dopant distribution in laser fibers, evaluation of optical inhomogeneities amidst ceramics, spatial dispersion measurements of nanoparticles in plastics... The achromatic confocal microscope is also helpful for a better understanding of excitation power effects of luminescent properties of various sizes and compositions nanoparticles

Texto completoLes difficultés technologiques de Darwin exigent, avant une application spatiale, la validation de chaque élément de l'instrument, lors d'expériences préparatoires en laboratoire. Parmi ces difficultés, le déphaseur de Pi, introduit dans l'interféromètre pour annuler le flux de l'étoile, doit être achromatique dans la bande d'observation (6-18 microns). Il existe plusieurs façons de créer ce déphasage achromatique. Cette thèse présente l'étude et le développement de l'une de ces techniques, basée sur des prismes dispersifs, et testée sur le banc SYNAPSE.
Après une présentation des enjeux planétologiques et exobiologiques de Darwin, nous introduisons les différentes techniques de déphasage achromatique. Le concept à base de lames dispersives prismatiques est détaillé, ainsi que les étapes de développement du banc SYNAPSE, fonctionnant en proche infrarouge. Nous montrons enfin que ce banc a permis de maintenir un taux de réjection de 4 000 (soit des fuites stellaires de 2,5.10-4) sur l'ensemble de la bande K (2-2,5 microns) durant plusieurs minutes. Ces résultats montrent également que, bien plus que le niveau absolu de réjection, l'enjeu réside dans sa stabilité durant les observations.

Texto completoDirect detection of exoplanets is mandatory in order to characterize them. However, this is a hard task because of the small angular separation and high contrast between the host star and the planet. Nulling interferometry is one possible way, but it requires an achromatic phase shifter. In this thesis, a new phase shifter is studied, «the chessboards ». It is two mirrors or glass plate made of several cells, which position and phase shift are constrained by a mathematical scheme. The main effect is that for a given attenuation, the spectral bandwidth spreads as the number of cells in the chessboards increases, which gives the chessboards a quasi achromatic behavior. An automated test bench has been built in order to measure the attenuation produced by the chessboards in the visible. The first results have been obtained with chessboards made by photolithography on a glass plate, and an attenuation of 500 has been measured with a white laser beam. The cells' phase shift errors are the major source of loss of performance. Those generated by the fabrication process being irreversible, one chose to work with a segmented mirror that allows us to control the phase shift of each cells. In order synthesize the chessboards, the control of each cells' phase shift is mandatory and achieved by schlieren imaging. Thus, one can measure the chessboards behavior with respect to the wavelength, and experimentally validate the quasi-achromatic behavior of the chessboards

Texto completoMiniaturization has become the key word in microelectronics. Indeed, manufacturers aim at shrinking device critical dimensions in order to improve their performances and to decrease their costs. In that respect, lithography plays a predominant role since it is the step that defines the circuit. The lithography technique used for mass production today and that addressed the 65 nm technology node is optical lithography at a wavelength of 193 nm. But it is difficult to improve resolution without greatly increasing complexity, tool price and difficulty in controlling the process. A solution is immersion lithography which principle is to introduce a fluid of higher refractive index than air between the last lens element and the wafer : it, firstly, releases the process constraints by a depthof-focus improvement and, secondly, improves the resolution in keeping 193 nm infrastructures. The purpose of this PhD is to create and validate a 193 nm immersion interferometric setup to study, in advance of tool availability, some aspects of this new optical lithography technique. In this thesis, we describe the design of an achromatic interferometric setup working in immersion at 193 nm. Such a setup has the great advantage of enabling the use of a laboratory excimer laser and does not suffer from its poor coherence parameters. We focused on the characterization of the optical setup and have determined parameters for depth-of-focus and transmission. Finally, we studied imaging at high numerical apertures. We showed the benefit of immersion on resolution and the correlation between roughness increase and contrast loss due to polarisation
