Resumen
AbstractThis study reports on the preparation of cobalt doped zinc oxide (Co:ZnO) films via pulsed electron beam ablation (PEBA) from a single target containing 20 w% Co on sapphire (0001) and silicon (100) substrates. The films have been deposited at various temperatures (350оC, 400оC, 450оC) and pulse frequencies (2 Hz, 4 Hz), under a background argon (Ar) pressure of about 3 mtorr, and an accelerating voltage of 14 kV. The surface morphology has been examined by atomic force microscopy (AFM) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). According to SEM analysis, the films consist of nano-globules whose size is in the range of 80-178 nm. Energy dispersive x-ray spectroscopy (EDX) reveals that deposition is congruent and the prepared films contain ∼20±5 w% cobalt. It has been found that the nano-globules in the deposited films are cobalt-rich zones containing ∼70 w% Co. From x-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) analysis, Co 2p3/2 peaks indicate that the deposited films contain CoO (binding energy = 780.5 eV) as well as metallic Co (binding energy = 778.1-778.5 eV). X-ray diffraction (XRD) analysis supports the presence of metallic Co hcp phase (2ϴ = 44.47° and 47.43°) in the films.

Resumen
Abstract. Calculation of the extraction force for a grain entrapment victim requires a coefficient of friction between the grain and the surface of the victim. Because denim is a common fabric for the work clothes that cover entrapment victims, the coefficient of friction between grain and denim becomes necessary. The purpose of this research was to calculate the apparent coefficient of friction of wheat on denim fabric using a proven procedure. The expectation is to improve the current understanding of conditions that influence extraction forces for victims buried in wheat. The apparent coefficient of friction of wheat on denim fabric was calculated to be 0.167 with a standard deviation of ±0.013. The wheat had a moisture content of 10.7% (w.b.) and bulk density of 778.5 kg m-3. The apparent coefficient of friction of wheat on denim was not significantly affected by pull speeds of 0.004, 0.008, and 0.021 mm s-1 nor normal grain pressures of 3.2, 4.8, 6.3, 7.9, and 11.1 kPa. This is a beginning of understanding the conditions that influence the extraction forces for grain entrapment victims. Keywords: Farm safety, Grain entrapment, Grain rescue, Grain extraction.

Resumen
Abstract In a two year experiment carried out on the organic research plots of the Institute of Food Security, Environmental Resources and Agricultural Research, Nigeria. Two liquid organic fertilizers (ARATI NAWOZ {2.01% N} and ARATI BAJA {1.01% N}) and control were applied to four sunflower varieties (SAMSUN 1, SAMSUN 2, SAMSUN 3 and SAMSUN 4) during the late cropping season (July – Nov.) of 2016 and 2017 to evaluate their agronomic response. The experiment was laid out in a randomized complete block design using a 4 × 3 factorial arrangement in three replicates. Data were collected on plant height at maturity, head diameter and weight, weight and number of seeds per head, 100 seed weight and seed yield. The varietal effect was significant (P < 0.05) on head diameter and weight, and number and weight of seeds per head, and seed yield in 2016. However, during the markedly dry 2017, the varietal effect was not significant for any trait measured. Foliar application of ARATI NAWOZ significantly (P < 0.05) increased height at maturity, the weight of seeds and head per plant and seed yield relative to the control in both years. Significant Variety × Fertilizer interaction effect was also recorded on the height at maturity, head diameter and weight, and seed yield in 2016. SAMSUN 4 (975.6 kg/ha) produced significantly (P < 0.05) higher seed yield than SAMSUN 1 (789.82 kg/ha) and SAMSUN 2 (778.54 kg/ha) in 2016. The efficacy of the application of both fertilizers was on par for most traits in both years. On average, the application of organic fertilizers resulted in a 15.76 and 69.02% increase in seed yield relative to the control in 2016 and 2017, respectively. ARATI NAWOZ and ARATI BAJA appeared promising for sunflower production in the humid tropics.

Resumen
The present study was conducted to determine the effect of silicon oxide in broiler chickens drinking water on performance and litter quality. A total of 120, one-day old mixed sex broiler chicks were randomly divided into 4 treatments and 3 replications, with 10 birds in each replicate in a completely randomised experimental design, with 4 silicon levels (0.00, 1.50, 2.00 and 2.50 mg of silicon oxide/litre of water. Corn-soya based diets were formulated at the starter (0–4 weeks) and finisher (5–8weeks) phases and were supplied ad libitum with free access to water. The average daily temperature and relative humidity inside the poultry house were 35.9 °C and 36%, respectively. At the starter phase, chicks administered 2.00mg silicon oxide/litre of water had significantly (p<0.05) higher final body weight (991.00g) and average weight gain (950.96g) compared to chicks without silicon oxide 778.57 g and 738.54g. The inclusion of 2.00 mg silicon oxide/litre of water improved feed conversion ratio compared to the control group (p < 0.05) and significantly reduced feed cost per kg gain. For the finisher phase, chickens administered 2.00mg silicon oxide/litre of water had the best results for final weight, weight gain and feed cost per kg gain. Also, inclusion of silicon oxide in broiler chickens water improved litter quality as predominantly dry material but with some areas of wet shavings was observed. In conclusion, silicon oxide in broiler chickens drinking water at 2.00mg/litre of water enhanced growth performance, improved feed conversion ratio and litter quality as well as reduced feed cost per kg gain at the starter and finisher phases respectively.

Resumen
The high density of vehicles that run to and fro University campus to town has become of great concern for assessment of health status of the ambient air around the Universities motor parks. Moreover, some of the University’s parks are unpaved while the paved ones are old and unmaintained. Dust fall samples in parks of Universities of Ilorin, Ibadan and Kwara State University were collected for five months spanning from 1st November 2014 to 31st March, 2015 using open bucket sampler based on ASTM D 1739 of 1998 (2010). A 0.1 g of dust sample was digested with 20 ml of HNO3, HClO4 and HF in ratio of (3:2:1) respectively and heavy metals (Mn, Cu, Zn, Cd, Pb, and Ni) were analysed using atomic absorption spectrophotometer (Buck Scientific model 210 VGP). Results of heavy metal concentrations showed decrease in the following order: 1479.75, 1255.68, 241.50, 128.00, 85.25, and 9.63 mg/kg for Mn, Zn, Pb, Ni, Cu and Cd respectively for University of Ibadan. The decreased in concentrations of heavy metals obtained for University of Ilorin motor park dust-fall were found to be 1145.75, 797.75, 219.63, 133.51, 58.25 and 23.13 mg/kg for Mn, Zn, Pb, Ni, Cu and Cd respectively. For Kwara State University, decrease in the following order: 778.5, 323.88, 259.38, 101.38, 34.38, and 4.63 mg/kg for Mn, Zn, Pb, Ni, Cu and Cd respectively were obtained. Generally for the three sites used, the heavy metal concentrations decreased in the following order: Mn>Zn>Pb>Ni>Cu>Cd. This implies that dust-fall in the parks are heavily loaded with some heavy metals that are of concentrations above Romania standard threshold limit for Cd and Pb while concentration values obtained for Ni are higher than US- EPA values (75 mg/kg). The regulatory agent or management should ensure that the roads are paved and there should be intermittent wetting of the roads with water. Keywords: Dust Fall; Heavy Metals; University Motor Parks

Resumen
Abstract Disclosure: N. Pascuali: None. F. Tobias: None. K. Valyi-Nagy: None. S. Salih: None. A. Veiga-Lopez: None. The incidence of infertility has been consistently increasing over the past few decades, with a high proportion of these cases caused by ovarian-related dysfunction. Metabolic disorders such as hyper- or dyslipidemia have been associated with subfertility (e.g., follicular fluid dyslipidemia is associated with lower IVF success). Lipids play a critical role in the structure and function of ovarian tissue. However, while several studies have investigated transcript- and protein-level alterations in ovarian pathologies, less is known about alterations in the lipid landscape. The first step in determining if ovarian disorders are associated with ovarian dyslipidemia - and thus use lipids as potential biomarkers of ovarian pathology - is to understand the physiological distribution of ovarian lipids. Matrix-Assisted Laser Desorption Ionization Time-Of-Flight (MALDI-TOF) mass spectrometry imaging (MSI) enables label-free in situ analysis of molecules such as lipids and metabolites directly within tissue sections. We aimed to begin mapping the distribution of lipids in human and mouse ovaries using high spatial resolution MALDI MSI. To this end, and after informed consent, two fresh ovarian biopsies from a 26-year-old patient were frozen, cryosectioned into 10-μm sections, and mounted onto ITO-coated slides. A set of 21-day-old mouse ovaries (n=10) were gelatin-embedded and cryosectioned. Slides were sprayed with 1,5-diaminonaphthalene as the matrix. MALDI MSI was performed using a Bruker RapifleX MALDI Tissuetyper (20-μm resolution) in the negative ion mode. Data were processed using the SCiLS Lab software. We identified for the first time in human ovaries over 100 lipid species, with most of them displaying distinct spatial distributions. Specifically, we detected 3 lipids specific to theca cells (m/z: 701.6; 1050.8; 1263.9), 6 lipids specific to granulosa cells (m/z: 279.3; 697.5; 861.7; 883.7; 911.7; 1448.0), 3 lipids specific to the stromal region (m/z 392.1; 753.5; 835.7), and one specific to luteal cells (m/z: 615.3). As for mouse ovaries, we detected 5 lipids specific to follicular cells (theca or granulosa) (m/z: 327.1: 343.2; 552.6; 632.6; 703.5), 5 lipids specific to stromal cells (m/z: 715.6; 729.6; 743.6; 771.7; 799.6), 5 lipids specific to oocytes (m/z: 778.5; 863.7; 1063.8; 1225.7; 1336.0) and 7 lipids specific to the ovarian cortex (m/z: 721.5; 748.5; 776.6; 792.6; 810.6; 869.6; 885.7). To our knowledge, this is the first evaluation of the human ovarian lipidome and characterization of region- or cell-layer-specific lipids. This approach has allowed us to demonstrate that compartments as small as oocytes (∼70 μm in diameter) have a unique lipid signature. Harnessing the unique specificity of the lipid signature per ovarian region and/or cell layer in this study could help pave the way to develop novel biomarkers of ovarian dysfunction.
