Solution-processed devices with thermally activated delayed fluorescence (TADF) compounds have gained great attention due to their low cost and high performance. Here, two solution-processable TADF emitters named ACCz-DPyM and POxCz-DPyM were synthesized by coupled 9,10-dihydro-9,9-dimethylacridine or phenoxazine modified carbazole as donor with di(pyridin-3-yl)methanone as acceptor. Both TADF compounds show same small ΔΕST of 0.04 eV and high PLQY of 66.2% and 58.2%. The devices fabricated by ACCz-DPyM and POxCz-DPyM as emitters show excellent performance as solution-processed with low turn-on voltage of 4.0 and 3.4 V, high luminance of 6209 and 3248 cd m−2 at 8 V, the maximum current efficiency of 9.9 and 15.9 cd A−1, the maximum external quantum efficiency of 6.6% and 6.5% and low efficiency roll-off. The solution-processed device based on ACCz-DPyM shows bluish-green emission. These results show that ACCz-DPyM and POxCz-DPyM are suitable for solution processing devices.

Background: Advanced Parkinson’s disease (APD) has been recently defined as a stage in which certain symptoms and complications are present, with a detrimental influence on the overall patient’s health conditions and with a poor response to conventional treatments. However, historically, the term APD has been controversial, thus consequently, APD prevalence has not been previously studied. Objectives: The main objective was to determine the prevalence of APD in patients diagnosed with idiopathic PD in hospitals of the Spanish National Healthcare System. Secondary objectives were the prevalence and incidence of PD and the clinical and sociodemographic characteristics and quality of life of patients with APD or non-APD. Methods: This was a non-interventional, cross-sectional, multicenter, national study in the hospital setting. Results: The study population included 929 patients with PD (mean age 71.8 ± 10.1 years; 53.8% male) and a mean time since diagnosis of 6.6 ± 5.4 years. At the time of diagnosis, 613 patients (66.06%) reported having had premotor symptoms. The Hoehn and Yahr stage was 1 in 15.7% of the patients, 2 in 42.8%, 3 in 30.1%, 4 in 9.9%, and 5 in 1.4%; 46.9% of the patients had comorbidities (mean age-adjusted Charlson comorbidity index 3.5 ± 1.7; median 10-year survival 77%) and the mean 8-item Parkinson’s Disease Quality of Life Questionnaire was 27.8 ± 20.5. We found an APD prevalence of 38.21% (95%CI: 35.08–41.42%), a PD prevalence of 118.4 (95%CI: 117.3–119.6), and a PD incidence of 9.4 (95%CI: 5.42–13.4) all per 100,000 population. Among the APD population, a 15.2% were receiving some form of therapy for advanced stages of the disease (deep brain stimulation, levodopa/carbidopa intestinal gel, or apomorphine subcutaneous infusion). Conclusions: The percentage of patients with APD in the hospitals of the Spanish National Healthcare System was 38.2%.

Introduction We determined the impact of electronic nicotine delivery systems (ENDS) on health outcomes and costs in Canada, based on their effect on smoking cessation and smoking initiation rates. Methods We used gender-specific Markov models to estimate lifetime discounted life years, quality-adjusted life years (QALYs) and smoking-related health care costs for cohorts of males and females aged 15 to 19 years, in scenarios in which (1) ENDS areavailable (status quo); (2) ENDS are completely unavailable; and (3) ENDS are available for smoking cessation through health care provider prescription, in addition to currently recognized smoking cessation tools. Analysis was from the perspective of a publicly funded health care system. Results Outcomes are expressed per 1000 individuals and based on expected values obtained through a Monte Carlo simulation of 10 000 replications. For males aged 15 to 19 years, life years, QALYs and smoking-related health care costs were 41 553, 35 871 and CAD 79 645 964, respectively, when ENDS were available; 41 568, 35 894 and CAD 79 645 960 when ENDS were unavailable; and 41 570, 35 897 and CAD 79 605 869 when ENDS were available through prescription only. For females, life years, QALYs and smoking-related health care costs were 43 596, 37 416 and CAD 69 242 856, respectively, when ENDS were available; 43 610, 37 438 and CAD 69 085 926 when ENDS were unavailable; and 43 611, 37 438 and CAD 69 076 034 when ENDS were available through prescription only. Thus, situations in which ENDS are unavailable, or available through prescription only are dominant over the status quo. Conclusion These results show that a policy change whereby ENDS were unavailable to the Canadian population or available through prescription only would likely increase population health and reduce health care costs.

Salt-sensitive (`Illusion') and salt-tolerant (`Blazon') New Guinea impatiens cultivars were grown for 70 days with a controlled-release fertilizer at 3.3, 6.6, or 9.9 g/pot under constant media moisture of 1–3 kPa or 4–6 kPa. Optimum growth for both cultivars occurred using 6.6 g/pot and a media moisture level of 1–3 kPa. The leaf area (LA), leaf number (LN), leaf dry weight (LDW), stem dry weight (SDW), and root dry weight (RDW) were significantly reduced at 9.9 g/pot in `Illusion', with values similar to those at 3.3 g/pot. LDW, SDW, RDW, LA, and LN were similar for 6.6 g/pot and 9.9 g/pot in `Blazon'. At 4–6 kPa LDW, SDW, RDW, LA, and LN decreased from low to high in `Illusion'. LA in `Blazon' also decreased from low to high, but LDW, SDW, RDW, and LN were unaffected. Media EC levels were greater in the upper half of the media regardless of moisture level. EC values as high as 7.3 dS·m–1 in the upper half of the media and as high as 5.2 dS·m–1 in the lower half of the media were measured without causing plant mortality.

The aim of the study was to determine the role of foreign citizens registered in Moscow region, in the maintenance of the epidemic process of measles, rubella and mumps based on the basis of their susceptibility to these infections and compare with the control group (residents of the Russia Central Federal District - donors of blood). Materials and methods. Examination included 909 samples of blood sera obtained from migrant workers and 939 blood donors (residents of the Central Federal district of Russia) which were tested for the presence of antibodies (IgG) to measles, rubella and mumps with the help of enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay. Results. Average relative density of seronegative persons among the surveyed migrants and donors to rubella virus ranged from 6.6 to 9.8%, the measles virus - 13.5 and 16.5%, respectively, statistically significant distinctions in groups were not established. The proportion of seronegative persons to mumps virus twice and more exceeded the standard documentation level among migrants and donors (32.5 and 47.5% respectively). Conclusion. There was a significant excess of the permissible level of seronegative persons to the measles, rubella and mumps viruses among migrant workers and blood donors, which creates preconditions for maintenance of epidemic process and dictates the necessity of carrying out the corrective vaccination (or revaccination) of non-immune persons

ImportancePediatric emergency department (ED) visits for substance use (SU) increased during COVID-19. Better understanding of trends associated with SU ED visits among youths with a chronic medical condition (CMC) is needed to target SU screening, prevention, and intervention efforts in this population.ObjectiveTo describe trends in pediatric SU ED visits before and during COVID-19 among youths in the US with and without CMCs and by race and ethnicity.Design, Setting, and ParticipantsIn this cohort study, data were obtained from 47 US children’s hospital EDs in the Pediatric Health Information System (PHIS) between March 1, 2018, and March 1, 2022. The cohort included patients aged 10 to 18 years. Data analysis occurred from November 2022 to February 2023.ExposuresED visit occurrence before or during the COVID-19 pandemic and with or without the presence of a CMC. CMCs included chronic conditions (CCs) and complex CCs (CCCs).Main Outcomes and MeasuresThe primary outcome was the number of visits for an SU diagnosis based on diagnostic codes for youths with and without CMCs. Trends were assessed using logistic regression, adjusting for covariates and center effect.ResultsThe sample included 3 722 553 ED visits from March 1, 2018, to March 1, 2022 (1 932 258 aged 14-18 years [51.9%]; 1 969 718 female [52.9%]; 961 121 Hispanic [25.8%]; 977 097 non-Hispanic Black [26.2%]; 1 473 656 non-Hispanic White [39.6%]). Of all visits, 1 016 913 (27.3%) were youths with CCs and 367 934 (9.9%) were youths with CCCs. Youth SU ED visits increased for all groups during COVID-19. The SU ED visits increased by 23% for youths with CCs (21 357 visits [4.0%] to 23 606 visits [4.9%]), by 26% for youths with CCCs (3594 visits [1.9%] to 4244 visits [2.4%]), and by 50% for youths without CCs (4997 visits [0.4%] to 5607 visits [0.6%]). Furthermore, compared with youths without CCs, youths with CCs had consistently larger odds of SU than the other groups before COVID-19 (adjusted odds ratio, 9.74; 99% CI, 9.35-10.15) and during COVID-19 (adjusted odds ratio, 8.58; 99% CI, 8.25-8.92). The interaction between race and ethnicity and CMCs was significant (P for interaction < .001).Conclusions and RelevanceThe findings of this cohort study suggest that providing SU services to all youths during times of societal crises is critical, but particularly for youths with CMCs who experience higher potential health impacts from SU given their medical concerns.

The objectives of this study were to determine 1) the minimum controlled-release fertilizer (CRF) rate and the lowest constant medium moisture required to produce the highest quality plants and 2) if this production system affected quality of these plants under two postproduction light levels. Two New Guinea impatiens (Impatiens sp. hybrids) `Illusion' and `Blazon' (Lasting Impressions Series) differing in salt tolerance were grown for 42 days with a CRF at three rates (3.3, 6.6, or 9.9 g/pot) and two medium moisture levels (low or high) without leaching. The high moisture level (tension setpoints of 1 to 3 kPa) and 6.6 g of CRF/pot produced optimum biomass. Low medium moisture (tension setpoints of 4 to 6 kPa) reduced leaf area, leaf number, leaf N content, root, stem, and leaf dry masses as CRF rate increased from low to high for `Illusion'. Similar results in `Blazon' were observed as CRF rates increased from 3.3 to 6.6 g. Biomass decreased no further at the high rate of 9.9 g/pot. Biomass increased in both cultivars under high medium moisture when CRF rates increased from 3.3 to 6.6 g. Biomass of `Illusion' decreased at 9.9 g/pot, although no symptoms of salt sensitivity were observed (i.e., leaf tip burn). `Blazon' maintained a similar biomass when amended with 9.9 or 6.6 g CRF/pot, although electrical conductivity (EC) in the medium was 5.9 dS·m-1 in the upper half and 4.1 dS·m-1 in the lower half of the medium at the end of production. Growth of `Illusion' responded more favorably to postproduction light levels that were similar to those of production regardless of treatment imposed during production. Similar biomass responses occurred for `Blazon' regardless of the postproduction light level.

There are few reports on drug utilization and drug-drug interactions in Intensive Care Units (ICUs) in Egypt. A total of 94 patients participated in this retrospective observational study. Patient’s medical records were used to collect demographics, medical history, admission and discharge dates and medications used. The mean ± SD of the Glasgow Coma Scale (GCS) scores was 9.9 ± 4.4 and the median length of stay was 7 days (range 1–47 days). The total number of prescribed medications ranged from 4–29 with a mean ± SD of 14.1 ± 5.5 medications per patient. The top three most prescribed categories belonged to (1) anti-infective agents (23.9%); (2) electrolyte, caloric and water balance agents (14.6%); and (3) blood formation, coagulation and thrombosis (11.3%). The proton pump inhibitor, esomeprazole, was the most frequently prescribed medication accounting for 6.5% of total prescriptions, followed by clindamycin and magnesium sulfate each accounting for 3.5% of total prescriptions. The potential Drug-Drug Interactions (pDDIs) showed a total of 968 pDDIs with a mean ± SD (range) of 10.2 ± 9.4 (0–43) pDDIs per patient: severe (contraindicated) (3), major (178), moderate (618) and minor (169). Overall, the drug utilization patterns in this study were consistent with ICU drug utilization from other countries in the region. The implementation of clinical decision support systems and the involvement of clinical pharmacists may help improve medication safety.

Uno de los objetivos principales que se plantea en cualquier campo, tanto en investigación como en la clínica, consiste en lograr la estandarización de estudios para así poder obtener conclusiones generales, poder determinar parámetros y patrones de normalidad y, consecuentemente, determinar con precisión la patología valorando la desviación de estos índices.

En los estudios renográficos, una función que posibilita esta estandarización es la función de retención renal que representa la fracción de trazador que es retenida en el riñón, a través del tiempo, como respuesta a una entrada instantánea en forma de bolo radiactivo si el trazador se hubiese introducido directamente en la arteria renal.

Puesto que en un estudio real, la inyección se realiza en una vena periférica, la función de retención renal se ha de obtener mediante la deconvolución de la curva actividad/tiempo del área renal con la curva correspondiente a un área vascular representativa de la actividad sanguínea.

El objetivo fundamental de este trabajo fue obtener un método de cálculo de la función de retención renal que incluyese una optimización en el grado de filtrado. Mediante simulación numérica de un estudio gammagráfico renal, se simularon estudios con 131I-Hippuran y 99mTc-MAG3.

Mediante simulación numérica se ha demostrado la existencia de un valor mínimo en el error cuadrático medio entre las funciones de retención renal teóricas y las obtenidas mediante deconvolución. La presencia de este valor mínimo se manifiesta para los tres filtros considerados (filtro de tres puntos, filtros de Butterworth y filtro "data bounding") y para los dos trazadores, 131I-Hippuran y 99mTc-MAG3, estudiados en este trabajo.

La ordenación de los tres filtros en base al valor mínimo del error cuadrático medio es: filtro de Butterworth, filtro de tres puntos y filtro "data bounding", éste con valores mucho más altos del error que los dos filtros lineales. Esta ordenación es la misma para los dos trazadores, siendo los valores del error correspondiente a 99mTc-MAG3 aproximadamente la mitad que los de 131I-Hippuran.

El valor del factor de suavizado que hace mínimo el error, depende del tiempo de tránsito y de la relación señal/ruido. Se ha comprobado que para 99mTc-MAG3 el valor del suavizado que hace mínimo el error es menor que para 131I-Hippuran, lo que está de acuerdo con su mayor relación señal/ruido. Asimismo para cada trazador, se ha demostrado que la dependencia respecto al tiempo de tránsito es mayor que respecto a la relación señal/ruido. Este hecho, que se repite para los tres filtros, ha permitido obtener valores de los factores de suavizado óptimos para cada trazador como funciones del tiempo de tránsito exclusivamente.

Se ha analizado el comportamiento de los tres filtros en la determinación de los parámetros de interés funcional derivados de la función de retención renal. Para ello, se modelizó la función de retención renal mediante una función de cuatro parámetros:
h(t) = (A-D) / (1+t/C)**B) + D donde A corresponde a la altura de la función de retención renal par aun tiempo igual a cero, B se relaciona con la dispersión de tiempos de tránsito, C es el tiempo medio de tránsito intrarrenal y D es el valor de estabilización relacionado con una posible retención de trazador en el riñón. De este estudio se ha concluído:

La estima del parámetro A es mejor para los métodos de filtrado lineales que para el no lineal, ya que proporciona información no sesgada y presenta valores del error relativo menores que para el filtro no lineal. De los filtros lineales, el algoritmo que incluye un filtro de Butterworth optimizado presenta los mejores resultados.

Los resultados hallados para el parámetro B, indican que el filtro de Butterworth es el que determina mejor este parámetro, lo que se refleja en un valor medio próximo al teórico.
La estima del parámetro C es mejor para los métodos de filtrado lineal que para el no lineal. En ambos, el error relativo es menor y no existe sesgo, siendo el filtro de Butterworth el que presenta los mejores resultados.
Respecto al parámetro D, los valores hallados en todos los casos están muy próximos al valor teórico que es cero.
En consecuencia, el método de deconvolución propuesto es el algoritmo matricial y un filtro de Butterworth optimizado en función del tiempo de tránsito.
Se ha valorado la aplicabilidad del algoritmo de deconvolución en estudios reales con 131I-Hippuran. Además del filtro de Butterworth, se utilizó el filtro de tres puntos por ser el más empleado en Medicina Nuclear. De este estudio se ha concluído que los dos métodos de filtrado lineal determinan los parámetros derivados de la función de retención renal de forma equivalente.
Se ha estudiado la relación existente entre las estimas del tiempo de tránsito renal y de la función renal relativa efectuadas sobre la función de retención renal, y sobre el renograma. Los resultados obtenidos al aplicar el algoritmo de deconvolución propuesto permiten concluir:

El tiempo en el instante de máxima actividad en el renograma sobreestima el tiempo de tránsito renal, hecho que se comprobó que también sucedía en los estudios simulados. Se ha comprobado que esta sobrevaloración, que se acentúa para valores de tiempo en el máximo elevados, es debida fundamentalmente al valor de la constante de tiempo de la primera exponencial de la curva de aclaramiento plasmático y al grado de dispersión del tiempo de tránsito.
La estima de la función renal relativa realizada sobre el renograma corregido de actividad extrarrenal da valores comparables a los obtenidos sobre la función de retención renal, no existiendo diferencias significativas.
Se aplicó al algoritmo de deconvolución propuesto a estudios reales con 99mTc-MAG3. Al ser la relación señal/ruido unas tres veces mayor que la del Hippuran permitió obtener la función de retención con menor filtrado. De este estudio se ha concluído:

La estima del tiempo de tránsito renal efectuada sobre el renograma como tiempo en el máximo sobrevalora el tiempo de tránsito intrarrenal en relación a la estima efectuada sobre la función de retención renal. Esta sobrevaloración es mayor para tiempos de tránsito largos.

La estima de la función renal relativa realizada sobre el renograma presenta, en general, valores inferiores a los obtenidos a partir de la función de retención renal. Esto es debido a la presencia de la actividad de tipo vascular no eliminada totalmente al efectuar la corrección de la actividad extrarrenal.
The main aim of the study was to obtain a calculation method of the renal retention function which includes an optimization of the degree of filtering. Studies with (131)I-Hippuran and 99m Tc-Mag 3 were simulated by means of the numerical simulation of a renal gammagraphic study. The existence of an optimum filtering was demonstrated. This minimum value is present for the three filterings considered (smoothing, Butterworth and data bounding) and for the two tracers. Consequently the functions of the corresponding filterings were obtained. The renal retention functions were obtained and the derived parameters were calculated: relative renal function and the mean transit time. The algorithm of the deconvolution proposed consist of a matrix algorithm to perform the deconvolution and a Butterworth filtering optimized in function of renal transit time. The algorithm of deconvolution was subsequently applied to one group of renal studies with (131)I-Hippuran and to another with (99m)Tc-Mag(3) in order to assess its applicability in real cases. Likewise, we evaluated the degree of correlation between the values of the two parameters calculated on the renogram (which is normally performed in clinical practice) and those obtained from the renal retention function. For both tracers it was demonstrated the value of the transit time estimated on the renogram overestimated the value of the transit time especially in all the cases presenting renal obstruction. In the cases of (131)I-Hippuran the estimate of the relative renal function performed on the corrected renogram of the extrarrenal background gives values comparable to those obtained from the renal retention function. For the (99m)Tc-Mag(3) , the estimate carried out on the renogram yields, in general, values that are lower than those obtained from the renal retention function. This is due to the presence of the vascular background which was not wholly eliminated when correcting the renogram.

AbstractThis chapter explores how asylum caseworkers are socialised on the job and thereby acquire an institutional habitus. Decision-makers are disciplined, incentivised, compelled, but also “ideationally conditioned” (Gill in Transactions of the Institute of British Geographers 34 (2): 215–233, 2009) to think, act and feel in certain ways. The chapter argues that how organisational socialisation works can only be understood by taking three factors into account: what belonging to the office and to different “communities of interpretation” (Affolter, Miaz, and Poertner in Asylum Determination in Europe: Ethnographic Perspectives. Palgrave Macmillan, Cham, pp. 263–284, 2019; Wenger in Knowing in Organizations: A Practice-Based Approach. M.E. Sharp, Armonk, pp. 76–99, 2003) within the office means; how decision-makers acquire, and are taught, the necessary Dienstwissen (Weber in Economy and Society. University of California Press, Berkeley, 2013 [1978]) for carrying out their tasks; and the accountability decision-makers feel towards other actors: peers and superiors, but also politicians, the media and “the public”. Together these aspects of organisational socialisation shape what decision-makers come to perceive as “normal” and “appropriate” practices. Through becoming members of the office, they develop a “socialised subjectivity” (Bourdieu and Wacquant in An Invitation to Reflexive Sociology. Resumen
The celestial novelties of the late-sixteenth and early-seventeenth centuries radically changed the cosmological debate. In the last edition of his Commentarius in sphaeram Ioannis de Sacrobosco, published in 1611, Clavius urged astronomers to work out an astronomical solution that integrated the ground-breaking Galilean novelties of 1610. This chapter analyses the telescope observations carried out by the Lisbon Jesuit astronomers in Rome, Ingolstadt, Lisbon, and Vietnam. It shows that they were utterly familiar with the celestial novelties that deeply challenged the traditional worldview at the turn of the seventeenth century.

The internet of things (IoT) and wireless sensor networks (WSNs) have become important innovations, offering unparalleled connectivity and pervasive data access for a variety of uses. They have combined to cause a paradigm change in the way we see and engage with our environment. But as connection has increased, new difficulties have emerged, largely concentrated around protecting the integrity of these networked systems. The cheap cost, long-term autonomy, and unsupervised operating capabilities of WSNs and IoT are the main reasons for their adoption. An enormous amount of data is now available for internet access due to the convergence of internet-enabled devices and sensor-driven data collecting, which has been facilitated by this integration. Users and network administrators are worried about the intrinsic security holes and vulnerabilities in these networks notwithstanding these advancements. WSNs and the internet of things are more susceptible to a wide range of threats because they lack a centralised security architecture. It becomes imperative to guarantee the confidentiality, integrity, and accessibility of data (CIA), particularly in applications where these characteristics are vital. In addition to the issues already listed, security risks are made worse by the intricacies brought about by the ever-changing dynamics of IoT ecosystems and the vast quantity of networked devices. New attack vectors appear as these systems develop, underscoring the need of carefully looking into any possible weaknesses. The significance of providing a thorough analysis of security risks, including both established and emerging attacks on WSNs and IoT, is emphasized in this study. This kind of analysis is necessary to classify and understand various assault types. Moreover, it underscores the need of addressing the intricate problems presented by WSN-IoT integration, including safeguarding communication protocols, overseeing extensive networks, and preserving data integrity over diverse devices and platforms. Establishing trust, reliability, and popular acceptance of these important technologies depends on recognizing those threats and safeguarding these linked systems from future assaults.

The main goal here is for both humanity and nature to have a higher quality of life. Many technologies are used to implement and ensure sustainability. The integration of technology into nature is developing on a different scale than in the recent past. Emphasis is now placed on the introduction of more nature-friendly technologies. These are mainly known as green technologies and are applied in many different sectors. Another category of green technologies is green information technologies, which are used to implement more sustainable computing. In addition, green technologies especially integrated into the smart environment are known as the green internet of things by being integrated into the internet of things ecosystem resulting from the establishment of a network of smart green technology or in other words smart devices. In this chapter, the integration of green technologies into the internet of things ecosystem, its features, green IoT devices, and their application in various sectors in terms of sustainability are discussed.

Precision farming, often known as digital agriculture, minimizes production costs by identifying both temporal and geographical changes within fields to achieve the highest levels of productivity and profitability, sustainability, and land resource conservation. The need to alter agricultural management techniques to sustainably safeguard natural resources including water, air, and soil quality while retaining economic advantages is being driven by the general public's growing environmental consciousness. It involves applying inputs (such insecticides and fertilizers) in the proper amounts, at the appropriate times, and locations. “Site-specific administration” is the term used to describe this kind of management. With almost a third of the world's food requiring irrigation for production, the productivity of the global food supply has increased in recent decades, mostly due to the expansion of irrigation systems. Global market rivalry for agricultural commodities, in general, puts traditional agricultural systems' economic sustainability in jeopardy and necessitates the creation of innovative, flexible production systems. With a focus on the methodical operationalization process, the goal of this chapter is to suggest a technology driven farming. The chapter intends to highlight how precision agriculture (PA) can facilitate farmers to use new technologies to make their farms more productive without hurting the quality of their crops or land. The chapter discusses the current status and opportunities for digitalizing agriculture sector.

Over the past few decades, there has been a tremendous development in machine learning (ML), particularly in the areas of deep learning (DL) and transfer learning (TL). Deep learning has emerged as a powerful approach for solving complex problems in various domains such as computer vision, natural language processing, and speech recognition. At the same time, transfer learning has proven to be an effective technique for leveraging pre-trained deep learning models in new application domains with limited data. Design patterns, that are formalized best practices, offer a way to capture common problems and provide reusable solutions using generic and well-proven machine learning designs. This chapter aims to provide an overview of the advancements in deep learning and transfer learning, while emphasizing the significance of design patterns in addressing common challenges during the design of machine learning applications and systems. This work explores the implementation and results of various machine learning models on the mushroom classification dataset. The dataset comprises descriptions of 23 species of gilled mushrooms, with diverse features like cap shape, color, odor, and more. The goal was to classify mushrooms as edible, poisonous, or of unknown edibility. Among the models considered, the multi-layer perceptron (MLP), recurrent neural network (RNN), long short-term memory (LSTM), autoencoders, and Boltzmann machine were trained and evaluated. The MLP, RNN, and LSTM exhibited exceptional performance, achieving perfect training and testing accuracies of 1.0000. These models successfully learned the underlying patterns and features, resulting in accurate predictions on both training and shown test data. Deep learning can optimize mushroom waste processing by classifying waste types, optimizing composting conditions, and extracting nutrients for reuse, enhancing sustainability and resource recovery in agriculture. It also predicts market demand, automates quality control, and facilitates predictive maintenance, improving efficiency and reducing environmental impact.

This chapter explores the integration of bioelectronics, an interdisciplinary field combining principles from biology and electronics, into waste treatment systems tailored for smart cities. The chapter begins by introducing the fundamental concepts and principles underlying bioelectronics, including biosensors, biofuel cells, neural implants, and wearable health monitors. It then delves into the challenges faced by conventional centralized waste treatment systems, such as inefficiency, resource depletion, and environmental pollution, highlighting the need for alternative approaches. The integration of bioelectronic devices like microbial fuel cells, biosensors, and bioreactors into waste treatment systems is proposed as a transformative solution, offering real-time monitoring, precise control, and enhanced pollutant degradation capabilities. Case studies and examples are provided to demonstrate the efficacy of these technologies in wastewater treatment, pollutant detection, and environmental risk mitigation. While acknowledging the potential benefits, the chapter also addresses the challenges associated with the integration of bioelectronics into waste treatment systems, including scalability, cost-effectiveness, and regulatory compliance. Strategies for overcoming these challenges, such as interdisciplinary collaboration, technological innovation, and policy support, are discussed. With the adoption of internet of things (IoT) devices, the security challenges associated with their implementation are a focus of research and development. This study examines the integration of cutting-edge technologies, machine learning knowledge, and blockchain to strengthen the payment security of IoT systems. The research explores the vulnerabilities present in traditional IoT architectures and presents a new approach that exploits machine learning algorithms embedded in a blockchain box. The core of this methodology involves implementing machine learning models to analyze large data sets generated by IoT devices, identifying anomalous patterns indicating possible security risks. However, locks are stored and validated by a secure lock, which ensures an immutable and transparent record of system activities. Blockchain integration alone improves data integrity, although it also establishes a decentralized consent mechanism, which reduces the risk of single points of failure and unauthorized access. This study evaluates the proposed solution through empirical analysis, considering real-world IoT scenarios. A comparative assessment was conducted against conventional security measures, demonstrating the effectiveness of machine learning-based blockchain approaches in detecting and mitigating diverse security threats. Additionally, this research addresses scalability and performance considerations, providing insight into the practical implementation of the proposed solution in the dynamic and resource-constrained environments typical of IoT ecosystems. In conclusion, this study contributes to the ongoing discourse on strengthening the security of IoT systems by merging machine learning and blockchain technologies. The proposed framework not only addresses challenges in today's security, but also emphasis on the foundation of infrastructure which is strong and adaptive also proficient of addressing the evolving IoT threat landscape in the near future.

This work presents the characteristics of their quality parameters and also suggests a number of measures permitting them to minimize their harmful impact upon environment. The purpose is the improvement of the technology of the reagent treatment of surface runoff from the territory of auto transport enterprises and of circulating waters for the repeated use by way of modernizing known methods via own original technological procedures and by chemical reagents. This work considers the comprehensive technology of collecting, treatment, and introduction into recycling of surface run-off for the auto transport enterprises, petrol stations.

We studied the cultural and physiological characteristics of the producer strain 11-1 Bacillus sp. – the antagonist of sunflower Phoma rot pathogen to develop the technological regulations for the production of a microbiological preparation in a «wettable powder» form. We studied the cultural characteristics of the producer strain on three agar media: potato sucrose agar (PSA), Czapek’s agar and Tylon-3; the characteristics varied significantly depending on the nutrient medium. The maximum diameter of colonies on the tenth day of incubation developed on the Tylon-3 medium – 66×99 mm. We established the optimal conditions for the cultivation of the strain on liquid nutrient media: temperature – 30–35 °С, medium pH from 6 to 10. We found that molasses is an optimal source of carbon nutrition, while peptone is the most favorable source of nitrogen nutrition. We established that the Tylon-3 medium is the optimal complex liquid nutrient medium for the cultivation of the bacterial strain 11-1 Bacillus sp.

The critical heat fluxes (CHFs) of subcooled water flow boiling are systematically measured for the flow velocities (u = 4.0 to 13.3 m/s), the outlet subcoolings (ΔTsub,out = 3 to 129 K) and the outlet pressure (Pout = 800 kPa). The SUS304 test tubes of 3, 6, 9 and 12 mm in inner-diameter, d, and 33, 66, 99 and 133 mm in length, L, respectively for L/d = 11 are used. The CHFs first become lower and then become higher with the increase in subcooling. The CHFs for four different inner-diameters with L/d = 11 measured here become higher with the decrease in the diameter. CHF correlation for the latter increasing regime was given in non-dimensional form against average outlet subcoolings based on the experimental data. The correlation can describe not only the CHFs obtained in this work at the outlet pressure of 800 kPa but also the authors’ published CHFs (1284 points) for the wide range of Pout = 159 kPa to 1 MPa, d = 6, 9 and 12 mm, L = 49, 99 and 149 mm, ΔTsub,out = −4 to 130 K and u = 4.0 to 13.3 m/s within 15% difference for 50 K≤ΔTsub,out≤130 K and within +30 to −10% for 30 K<ΔTsub,out<50 K.

A coproovoscopic study of cats and dogs living in Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky, Ussuriysk and Vladivostok was conducted. The study material was fecal samples collected from August to December 2023 from 99 dogs from the Primorsky Territory (the cities of Ussuriysk and Vladivostok) that were brought to a veterinary clinic or a trap-neuter-return facility in Vladivostok – the analysis of this sample of animals is given cumulatively. In the Kamchatka Territory, we examined samples from 19 dogs and 82 cats from Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky, and from animals kept in shelters and brought to a subsidized neutering center. Thirteen parasite species were found in the study area. The animals from Ussuriysk and Vladivostok were found to have 2 protozoan species, 2 species of flatworms and 3 species of roundworms. The infection intensity in the dogs reached 40.4% (95% CI, 30.7-50.7). Five protozoan species, 1 species of flatworms and 4 nematode species were found in the animals in Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky. The prevalence in the dogs and cats reached 36.8% (95% CI, 16.3-61.6) and 23.2% (95% CI, 14.6-33.8).

The abstract presents the synthesis of new spiropyranes from substituted 5-aminoisatin 6 in multicomponent reaction with different carbonyl compounds. It is known that spiropyranes have various activities, which depend from spatial structure and substituents [1]. From the other side, previously mentioned dehydroabietic acid 1 [2] is interesting object to study due to its molecular structure, chemical and biological properties.Initially, our strategy was to obtain the substituted isatine 6 from easily accessible isatine 3. To implement that approach, previously obtained [2] 5-nitroisatine reacted with fivefold excess of ethylene glycol [3] using 10 mol% p-toluenesulfonic acid in boiling toluene to give 4 in good yield. Next, the obtained dioxalane 4 was introduced into the reduction reaction, where the best yield was reached using the fivefold excess of tin (II) chloride [3] as reducing agent. The amidation reaction between 5-aminodioxalane 5 and chloride 2 took place in dry chloroform, using as acceptor the moderate excess Et3N [3]. During the deprotecting essay of dioxalane cycle [3] the best conditions were aqueous acetone (1:3) and 96% sulfuric acid at 350C, leading to desired isatine 6 with 75% yield. The final stage was famous three component reaction [4] between the desired isatine 4, malononitrile and carbonyl compound. The first example [3] started from pyrazoline-2-one, yielded 57% the desired compound 7. Another carbonyl compound – acetoacetic ester gave the compound 8 with 66% yield [3]. But in case of 2,4-pentanedione the reaction haven’t succeeded in different conditions selection (various solvents and long-term boiling).

Objetivo: Apresentar a relação entre os números de exames de transcriptase reversa da reação em cadeia da polimerase em tempo real (qRT-PCR) para Covid-19, correspondentes a primeira, segunda e terceira ondas, e a faixa etária desses pacientes atendidos em um hospital do setor privado. Método: A metodologia empregada no trabalho foi a qRT-PCR, com amostras de pacientes coletadas em tubos com salina estéril das regiões naso e orofaríngeos. O protocolo utilizado baseou-se na referência do CDC-EUA, contendo os genes N1 e N2 para detecção do vírus Sars-CoV-2. A análise dos dados foi realizada por meio da média simples. Conclusão: A qRT-PCR é o exame padrão-ouro de referência para o diagnóstico de infecções com alta sensibilidade e precisão na fase aguda da doença. Durante o período de 2020 a 2022, correspondentes a primeira (2020), segunda (2021) e terceira (2021) ondas de Covid-19, foram realizados 25.918 exames, sendo 7.437 (2.048 positivos e 5.389 negativos) em 2020, 15.782 (3.023 positivos e 12.759 negativos) em 2021 e 2.699 (969 positivos e 1.730 negativos) até abril de 2022 – e ainda estão em andamento. Em relação à faixa etária dos pacientes detectados positivamente, em média, 41,42% tinham entre 21 e 40 anos de idade; 36,17%, entre 41 e 60 anos; 14,23%, entre 61 e 80 anos; 4,4%, entre 81 anos ou mais; 3,75%, entre 3 e 20 anos de idade. Apesar de o público-alvo do hospital ser, preferencialmente, pacientes da terceira idade, a faixa etária dos pacientes considerados positivos pelo exame foi, de maneira inesperada, compatível com os dados de infectividade obtidos pela Sistema Estadual de Análise de Dados do Governo do Estado de São Paulo (https://www.seade.gov.br/coronavirus/). Esses resultados mostram que a metodologia de qRT-PCR utilizada para a detecção do Sars-CoV-2, além da precisão, permite o diagnóstico rápido e, independentemente da faixa etária, pode abranger toda a população, rastreando, inclusive, o surgimento de novas variantes.

Although it has been available for a number of years, Tc-99m RBC venography has never been evaluated in an epidemiological study. We have compared Tc-99m RBC venography to impedance plethysmography (IPG) in 113 consecutive eligible patients with clinically suspected first episode of deep vein thrombosis (DVT). IPG was performed at initial presentation (day 0) and RBC venography within the next 72 hours.RBC venography was performed by labelling in vitro 5ml of patients' red blood cell with 20 millicuries of Tc-99m. Patients with an initially abnormal IPG underwent contrast venography to rule out a falsely positive test result. Patients with an initially normal IPG had the test repeated at day 1, 3, 5 to 7 and 10 to 14. Anticoagulant treatment was witheld in all patients who remained normal by serial IPG testing. All patients underwent a 3 month follow-up period. RBC venography was considered abnormal if there was a 50% or greater decrease in isotope concentration in a deep vein compared to the same vein in the other leg. The sensitivity of RBC venography was 79% with 95% confidence limits (C. L.) from 59% to 92%. Specificity was 61% (95% C. L. from 51% to 71%). Positive and negative predictive values were 37% (95% C. L. from 25% to 51%) and 91% (95% C. L. from 81% to 96%) respectively. None of the patients who remained normal by serial IPG testing died from or had objectively documented venous thromboembolism during the follow-up period. We conclude that : 1)RBC venography is non-specific and, 2) a decision to treat should not be made on the basis of the results of this test alone in view of its low positive predictive value.

Супраселлярные краниофарингиомы (КФ) характеризуются высокой частотой поражения структур третьего желудочка, результатом чего становится нарушение регуляции энергетического гомеостаза с развитием гипоталамического ожирения (ГО). Лептин является одним из ключевых регуляторов массы тела посредством взаимодействия с нейронами гипоталамуса. В норме повышение уровня лептина ассо- циировано с усилением метаболизма и снижением массы тела. В настоящее время отсутствуют единые диагностические критерии ГО и эффективные методы терапии. Оценка повреждения гипоталамуса до и по- сле операции необходима для выбора хирургической тактики и возможности раннего терапевтического вмешательства, сдерживающего увеличение веса. ЦЕЛЬ: изучить секрецию лептина, динамику массы тела и их взаимосвязи с топографическим вариантом КФ до и после оперативного лечения. МАТЕРИАЛЫ И МЕТОДЫ: прооперировано 58 пациентов (28 мужчин и 30 женщин) медиана возраста 39 (29-54) с верифицированным диагнозом КФ. Степень вовлечения гипоталамуса оценена на основа- нии предоперационной МРТ и интраоперационных данных. Критерием ГО принято увеличение массы тела на 10 кг и более за период 6 мес. Оценка массы тела, уровня лептина крови проводилась до и через 1, 3, 6, 12 месяцев после операции. По локализации опухоли были разделены на 2 группы: 1 – стебельные КФ (24), 2- стебельно-вентрикулярные КФ (34). РЕЗУЛЬТАТЫ: 1. Стебельные КФ, замещают стебель гипофиза, достигая дна 3 желудочка. До операции ГО не выявлено ни в одном случае, медиана лептина – 5,0 нг/мл (2,8-8,1). Тотальное удаление выполнено в 79% (19), из них в 12 случаях опухоль прирастала к дну 3 желудочка. После операции ГО - 30% случаев (7), меди- ана прибавки веса - 20 кг (10-32), медиана лептина через 1 мес – 19,8 нг/мл (9,2-23.0), через 3 мес. - 17,8 (13,3-36), через 6 мес. -17,7 ( 3,0-28,7), через 12 мес. – 11,9 (3,2-22) . 2. Стебельно-вентрикулярные КФ, замещают стебель и дно 3 желудочка с распространением в его полость. До операции: ГO в 20% (7) случаев, медиана прибавки веса 16 кг (10-20). Медиана лептина 7,9 нг/мл (4,8-13,4). Тотальное удаление -в 61% случаев (21). После операции: ГО - 38%(13), медиана прибавки веса - 17 кг (11-26), из них только 2 пациента имели ГО до операции. Медиана лептина через 1 мес. – 31,0 нг/мл (18-43,6), через 3 мес. -20,6 (10,4-37,2), через 6 мес. -13,9 (8,0-21,7), через 12 мес. -12,8 (9,9-29,0). В обоих группах прибавка веса после операции наблюдалась в течение первых 6 мес. Статистически значимых различий уровня лептина до и после операции в данных группах не обнару- жено. ВЫВОДЫ: прибавка массы тела на 10 и более кг в течение 6 месяцев до операции наблюдалась только среди пациентов со стебельно-вентрикулярными КФ, что в совокупности с данными МРТ может расцени- ваться как признак гипоталамического повреждения опухолью и использоваться в качестве критерия ГО. Группу риска развития ГО составляют пациенты с опухолью с вовлечением гипоталамуса, у которых не на- блюдалось увеличение веса до операции. Нарастание массы тела после операции происходит на фоне высокого уровня лептина, что свидетельствует о лептинорезистентности вследствие структурных нару- шений диэнцефальной области.

Микроцефалическая остеодисплатическая примордиальная карликовость II типа (MOPD2) – редкое аутосомно-рецессивное заболевание, связанное с нарушением экспрессии гена белка перицентрина (PCNT). Данное состояние характеризуется задержкой внутриутробного развития, выраженной постнатальной задержкой роста, низким конечным ростом, микроцефалией, скелетными и сосудистыми аномалиями, задержкой умственного развития. Клинический случай: ребенок с генетически подтвержденным диагнозом MOPD2. Пациентка В. поступила в ФГБУ «НМИЦ эндокринологии» Минздрава России с жалобами на низкий рост, боль в спине и нижних конечностях при физической нагрузке. Ребенок от 2 беременности, протекавшей с задержкой внутриутробного развития с 23 недели. Родилась на 39 неделе посредством Кесарева сечения с экстремально низкими параметрами тела: масса тела 1300 г (SDS: -6,12), длина тела - 38 см (SDS: -6,7). При обследовании по месту жительства в возрасте 2 лет выявлен высокий уровень ИФР1, превышавший верхнюю границу нормы в 2 раза, по фенотипическим признакам заподозрен синдром Секкеля. В течение 2 лет (в возрасте 3-4 года) проводилась терапия соматотропином без значительного эффекта. В возрасте 6 лет в Institute of Genetics and Molecular Medicine (Великобритания) обнаружена компаундная гетерозиготная мутация в гене PCNT c.3019_3020delCT, p.Leu1007Serfs*50 and c.5298_5301delTCAG, p.Ser1766Argfs*36. Диагностирована микроцефалическая остеодиспластическая примордиальная карликовость (MOPD II типа) – редчайшая форма карликовости в мире. На момент обследования в 14 лет рост 98,9 см (SDS роста: -9,5), вес 15,8 кг (SDS ИМТ: -1,59). Телосложение непропорциональное с укорочением нижнего сегмента (соотношение сегментов 1,4). Кожные покровы тонкие, атрофичные, выраженная мраморность, сухая. Волосы тонкие, тусклые и крайне редкие. Высокая граница роста волос на голове как спереди, так и сзади. Подкожная клетчатка развита умеренно, неравномерно: некоторый избыток на туловище и недостаточным развитием в области предплечий и голеней. Костная система: гипермобильность суставов верхних конечностей совместно с тугоподвижностью суставов нижних конечностей, брахидактилия с истончением пальцев к дистальным фалангам, агенезия зубов. Половое развитие: Таннер 5 P 4, Ax 3, Ma 4, менструации с 12 лет - нерегулярные обильные. Выраженная инфантильность: играет в куклы, учится в частной школе по индивидуальной программе. РЕЗУЛЬТАТЫ: в ходе обследования у девочки выявлены лабораторные признаки основного заболевания: железодефицитная анемия (гемоглобин 99 г/л), тромбоцитоз (723*10^9), гипертриглицеридемия (2,23 ммоль/л), гиперинсулинемия (30,92 мкЕ/л), повышение ИФР1 (619 нг/мл). На рентгенограмме кистей выявлена гипоплазия шиловидного отростка локтевой кости, трехгранной, полулунной, ладьевидной, трапециевидной костей. КТ позвоночника выявила S-образный сколиоз грудного и поясничного отделов позвоночника, компрессионные деформации тел Th6-L5. С результатами обследований девочка консультирована врачами ЛФК, разработана индивидуальная программа реабилитации.

This report summarizes results of a horizontal gas storage well field experiment at the Howell Storage Field in Howell, Ml. A new horizontal well was successfully drilled in the Niagaran formation offsetting a vertical well on the same location. TVD was 3914 ft; Measured depth was 6271ft, including 967 ft in the turn (616-ft radius) and a 2000-ft lateral. The lateral was held within a 10-ft window over the entire 2000-ft length. The horizontal well was drilled on schedule and within budget Minor problems, typical of all drilling operations, were handled without serious impact. The research objectives were to 1) address problems of planning and conducting drilling operations on a very small site in a populated area, and 2) demonstrate using horizontal well technology to increase working gas ratio. This report describes the careful planning process necessary for implementing horizontal well technology in storage fields, and presents 1) details of the actual drilling and completion operations, 2) time and component breakdown of all costi, and 3) preliminary well flow results.
