Resumen
The photoluminescence and physical properties of lithium yttrium borate glasses doped with Eu2O3were studied in this work. The glasses were prepared by the melt-quenching technique and varied the Eu2O3doped concentration between 0.00-1.50 mol%. We found that, the molar volume and density of these glasses showed linear increasing tendency with Eu2O3concentration. The absorption bands were observed in UV and NIR region. For the Eu3+doped glasses, the excitation bands centered at 363, 383, 394, 414, 465, 526 and 533 nm were observed with 613 nm emission wavelength. While in the emission spectra, the bands centered at 590, 613, 652 and 701 nm were observed with excitation of 394 nm. The intensity of excitation and emission bands increased with increasing of Eu2O3concentration.

Resumen
Abstract A novel series of fluorescent nanoparticles with violet excitation have been developed for use with flow cytometry antibodies. These exceptionally bright, photostable dyes also have narrow emission spectra, making them ideal for inclusion in high parameter multicolor panels. For this study, StarBright Violets 440, 515, 610, 670, 710 and 790 were conjugated to human B-cell, T-cell, and Treg marker monoclonal antibodies and used to immunophenotype human peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs) in an 8-color panel. Tests with this panel were conducted in different staining buffers and compared to a panel with dyes having similar spectra and the same clonality. The new StarBright multicolor panel showed better resolution of Treg populations and reliable identification of the different T- and B-cell populations across different stain buffers and conditions, which makes the StarBright Violet nanoparticles an excellent addition to the field of high parameter flow cytometry.

Resumen
In laboratory experiments with larvae of the shredding caddisfly Clistoronia magnifica, toxicity of nickel chloride hexahydrate was highly pH dependent. Larvae were exposed from first instar until pupation to three nickel concentrations (55, 215, 700 μg Ni2+/L) in soft water adjusted to pH 4.1, 5.5, and 6.2. Nickel reduced the survival of larvae and pupae at all pH levels but toxicity decreased with increasing H+ concentration. In addition, Ni at 215 μg/L temporarily ameliorated H+ toxicity to early instar larvae at pH 4.1. Reduced toxicity with decreasing pH fits the hypothesis that free metal ions compete with H+ for the same binding–uptake sites. Available data suggest that this phenomenon is not restricted to a particular metal or organism but that it applies to pH–metal interactions in general.

Resumen
Abstract When Spirulina platensis filaments were exposed to 0.75 mW.m-2.s-1 of ultraviolet-B radiation (the ultraviolet-B radiation under clear sky condition is ~1.0 mW.m-2.s-1), an inhibition in photosystem II activity was observed, the inhibition being 90% after 90 min exposure. Upon exposure to ultraviolet-B, the room temperature emission characteristics of Spirulina cells were altered when excited with light primarily absorbed by chlorophyll a or phycobilisomes. When the cells were exposed for 3 h the emission at 685 nm (F685), when excited at 440 nm (primarily chlorophyll a absorption), was enhanced compared to 715 nm (F 715) band of photosystem I suggesting a decrease in energy transfer from photosystem II to photosys tem I. Similarly, when the cells were excited at 580 nm (primarily the phycobilisomes), the ratio of emission intensity at 685 nm (F685) to that of 655 nm (F655) was decreased in the exposed cells. This change in emission characteristics seems to be linked with the uncoupling of the energy transfer from allophycocyanin to chlorophyll a of photosystem II. A small shift in emission peak positions was also indicated when excited either at 440 nm or 580 nm. Analysis of the fast induction of chlorophyll a transients in the presence and absence of 10 μm 3-(3,4-dichlorophenyl)-l,l-dimethylurea (DCMU) indicated that ultraviolet-B expo sure initially affects Qᴀ, the primary stable acceptor of photosystem II, and then the plastoquinone (PQ) pool. Our results on the loss in photosystem Il-catalyzed Hill activity with p-benzoquinone or dichlorobenzoquinone as electron acceptors also supports the contention that ultraviolet-B, even at low dose, initially alters the Qᴀ of photosystem II and subsequently PQ pool. The analysis of functional pool size of Spirulina suggests a substantial decrease in the functional pool size after 2 h UV-B exposure. These results indicate that in Spirulina low intensity of ultraviolet-B initially damages the reaction centre of photosystem II.

Resumen
Our studies have shown that additional introduction of feed additive “Elevit” into the rearing gilts’ diet at a dosage of 1.0; 1.5; 2.0% during their breeding from 4 to 8 months allows to increase the gilts’ live weight by 3.9; 7.0; 9.5%, respectively, with average daily gains also increasing in comparison to the control group by 6.4; 11.6; 15.7%. Also, when reaching 8 months, gilts of experimental groups exceeded their peers from the control group in heart mass by 3.2; 4.1; 6.3%; lungs - by 3.7; 4.0; 4.2%; liver - by 5.1; 5.8; 6.2%, respectively. When rearing gilts reached the age of 8 months, a study of their reproductive function was carried out. So, we have established that gilts receiving “Elevit” feed additive together with the diet at a dosage of 1.0; 1.5; 2.0% exceeded their peers from the control group in fertilization indicator by 4.5; 5.4; 5.4%, and multifertility - by 4.3; 6.2; 7.5% respectively. The increase in these indicators led to an increase in the total number of experimental piglets received from rearing sows by 36, 3; 47.1; 48.7% compared to control.

Journal of Materials Research 16, n.º 11 (noviembre de 2001): 3116–23. http://dx.doi.org/10.1557/jmr.2001.0430.

Resumen
BaTiO3-coating films were prepared from a solution containing poly(vinylpyrrolidone) (PVP) of molar composition Ba(CH3COO)2:Ti(OC2H5)4:PVP:CH3COOH:H2O: C2H5OH = 1:1:0.5:27:4:5, via nonrepetitive, single-step dip-coating. The gel films were found to be converted into BaTiO3 films via evaporation of the solvent and CH3COOH below 210 °C, decomposition of PVP at 210–360 °C, decomposition of CH3COO− below 440 °C, and crystallization at 500–610 °C. The decomposition of PVP was accompanied by the progress of the condensation reaction, which resulted in significant reduction in film thickness. When the gel films were heated isothermally at 700 °C, crack-free BaTiO3 films as thick as 0.9 μm were obtained. When the gel films were heated isothermally at 360 °C and then at 700 °C, the film became denser. Higher dielectric constants around 290 were found for the film that underwent the isothermal heat treatment at 360 °C. A slower rate of PVP decomposition was thought to be the key for the film densification.

Resumen
AbstractThe new mineral pharmazincite, KZnAsO4, was found in sublimates of the Arsenatnaya fumarole at the Second scoria cone of the Northern Breakthrough of the Great Tolbachik Fissure Eruption, Tolbachik volcano, Kamchatka, Russia. It is closely associated with shchurovskyite, dmisokolovite, bradaczekite, arsmirandite, tilasite, johillerite, tenorite, hematite, aphthitalite and As-bearing orthoclase. Pharmazincite occurs as prismatic to acicular crystals up to 1 mm long and up to 0.03 mm thick typically combined in near parallel, radial or chaotic intergrowths, open-work aggregates or crusts up to 2 mm across. Pharmazincite is colourless to white, transparent, with a vitreous lustre. It is brittle, with a stepped fracture and a perfect cleavage parallel to [001]. Dcalc is 4.75 g cm–3. Pharmazincite is optically uniaxial (–),ω = 1.649(2), ε = 1.642(2). The Raman spectrum is reported. The chemical composition (wt.%, electron-microprobe data) is: K2O 18.98, CaO 0.14, MgO 1.20, CuO 4.41, ZnO 27.58, Fe2O3 0.15, P2O5 0.50, As2O546.67, total 99.63. The empirical formula, calculated based on 4 O apfu, is: (K0.97Ca0.01)∑0.98(Zn0.82Cu0.13Mg0.07Fe0.013+)∑1.03(As0.98P0.02)∑1.00O4.The strongest reflections of the powder X-ray diffraction pattern [d,Å(I)(hkl)] are: 6.36 (28)(111), 4.64(45)(220), 4.35(48)(002), 3.260(36)(411), 3.179(100)(222), 2.770(26)(113), 2.676(77)(600), 2.278(15)(602) and 1.710(15)(713, 115). Pharmazincite is hexagonal, a = 18.501(4), c = 8.7114(9) Å, V = 2582.4(8) Å3 and Z = 24 (single-crystal XRD data). Its space group is P63, by analogy with synthetic KZnAsO4 that has a crystal structure based upon a tetrahedral tridymite-type{ZnAsO4}– framework. It is isostructural with megakalsilite KAlSiO4. The new mineral is named for its chemical constituents.

Resumen
Blood transfusion is life-saving but sometimes also associated with morbidity and mortality. There is limited data on mortality in patients transfused with whole blood in sub-Saharan Africa. We described the 30-day all-cause mortality and its associated factors in patients transfused with whole blood to inform appropriate clinical intervention and research priorities to mitigate potential risks. A retrospective study was performed on purposively sampled patients transfused with whole blood at the Uganda Cancer Institute (UCI) and Mulago hospital in the year 2018. Two thousand twelve patients with a median (IQR) age of 39 (28–54) years were enrolled over a four month period. There were 1,107 (55%) females. Isolated HIV related anaemia (228, 11.3%), gynaecological cancers (208, 10.3%), unexplained anaemia (186, 9.2%), gastrointestinal cancers (148, 7.4%), and kidney disease (141, 7.0%) were the commonest diagnoses. Most patients were transfused with only one unit of blood (n = 1232, 61.2%). The 30 day all-cause mortality rate was 25.2%. Factors associated with mortality were isolated HIV related anaemia (HR 3.2, 95% CI, 2.3–4.4), liver disease (HR 3.0, 95% CI, 2.0–4.5), kidney disease (HR 2.2, 95% CI, 1.5–3.3; p<0.01), cardiovascular disease (HR 2.9, 95% CI, 1.6–5.4; p<0.01), respiratory disease (HR 3.0, 95% CI 1.8–4.9; p<0.01), diabetes mellitus (HR 4.1, 95% CI, 2.3–7.4; p<0.01) and sepsis (HR 6.2, 95% CI 3.7–10.4; p<0.01). Transfusion with additional blood was associated with survival (HR 0.8, 95% CI 0.7–0.9, p<0.01). In conclusion, the 30-day all-cause mortality was higher than in the general inpatients. Factors associated with mortality were isolated HIV related anaemia, kidney disease, liver disease, respiratory disease, cardiovascular disease, diabetes mellitus and sepsis. Transfusion with additional blood was associated with survival. These findings require further prospective evaluation.

"286 Effects of dietary peroxidized lipids and antioxidant supplementation in the drinking water on growth, oxidative and immune status of newly weaned piglets". Journal of Animal Science 97, Supplement_3 (diciembre de 2019): 119. http://dx.doi.org/10.1093/jas/skz258.246.

Resumen
Abstract The objective of the present study was to evaluate the use of vitamin E (VitE) and phytogenic compounds (PHYTO) in drinking water on performance, oxidative stress, and immune status of weaned piglets fed peroxidized lipids. In a 35-day study, 21-d old weaned piglets (n = 96; 6.10±0.64 kg BW) were assigned within sex and BW blocks to 1 of 4 dietary treatments, using 24 pens (4 pigs/pen; 6 replications/treatment). Diets contained either 6% human-grade soybean oil or 6% soybean oil which was peroxidized for 12 d at 80°C with constant air flow at 50 L/min (initial peroxide value, anisidine value, hexanal, and 2,4-decadienal concentrations were 4.1 vs. 141.6 meq/kg, 1.7 vs. 106, < 5 vs. 99 mg/kg, and 8 vs. 720 mg/kg for control and peroxidized oil, respectively). Pigs fed peroxidized lipids received drinking water without (control) or with supplemental VitE (100 IU/L d-α-tocopherol) or PHYTO (60 µL/L from d 1–7; 30 µL/L from d 8–35). Pigs fed control diet received control water only. Overall, peroxidized lipids decreased (P < 0.001) BW (18.20 vs. 21.55 kg) and ADG (347 vs. 441 g/day), and tended to decrease ADFI (P = 0.14; 537 vs. 617 g/day) and G:F (P = 0.07; 645 vs. 715 g/kg). Peroxidation decreased serum vitamin E (P = 0.03) which could be restored (P = 0.01) by VitE in the water, but not PHYTO. Serum concentrations of interferon-γ, interleukin(IL)-1α, IL-1β, IL-1ra, IL2, IL4, IL-6, IL10, IL-12, IL-18, TNF-α, malondialdehyde, protein carbonyl, and total antioxidant capacity were not impacted by treatments (P > 0.05). Serum 8-hydroxydeoxyguanosine was reduced (P = 0.001) with feeding peroxidized lipids and this was not altered by supplemental antioxidants (P = 0.45). Peroxidized lipids clearly reduced growth performance, which did not appear to be related to oxidative stress markers or immune-regulatory cytokines. The negative effects of peroxidized lipids could not be improved by vitamin E or PHYTO supplemented in drinking water.

Resumen
Alternating projections onto convex sets (POCS) [319, 918, 1324, 1333] is a powerful tool for signal and image restoration and synthesis. The desirable properties of a reconstructed signal may be defined by a convex set of constraint parameters. Iteratively projecting onto these convex constraint sets can result in a signal which contains all desired properties. Convex signal sets are frequently encountered in practice and include the sets of bandlimited signals, duration limited signals, causal signals, signals that are the same (e.g., zero) on some given interval, bounded signals, signals of a given area and complex signals with a specified phase. POCS was initially introduced by Bregman [156] and Gubin et al. [558] and was later popularized by Youla & Webb [1550] and Sezan & Stark [1253]. POCS has been applied to such topics as acoustics [300, 1381], beamforming [426], bioinformatics [484], cellular radio control [1148], communications systems [29, 769, 1433], deconvolution and extrapolation [718, 907, 1216], diffraction [421], geophysics [4], image compression [1091, 1473], image processing [311, 321, 470, 471, 672, 736, 834, 1065, 1069, 1093, 1473, 1535, 1547, 1596], holography [880, 1381], interpolation [358, 559, 1266], neural networks [1254, 1543, 909, 913, 1039], pattern recognition [1444, 1588], optimization [598, 1359, 1435], radiotherapy [298, 814, 1385], remote sensing [1223], robotics [740], sampling theory [399, 1334, 1542], signal recovery [320, 737, 1104, 1428, 1594], speech processing [1450], superresolution [399, 633, 654, 834, 1393, 1521], television [736, 786], time-frequency analysis [1037, 1043], tomography [1103, 713, 1212, 1213, 1275, 916, 1322, 1060, 1040], video processing [560, 786, 1092], and watermarking [19, 1470]. Although signal processing applications ofPOCS use sets of signals,POCSis best visualized viewing the operations on sets of points. In this section, POCS is introduced geometrically in two and three dimensions. Such visualization of POCS is invaluable in application of the theory.

Resumen
This chapter examines the role played by the circus faction called the Greens in getting rid of Philippikos and replacing him with a civilian official, Artemios the secretary, as emperor of Byzantium in 713. Ever since the publication of Alan Cameron's book on the circus factions, it has been agreed that the Blues and Greens played a much less political role after the tumultuous reigns of Maurice and Phokas. Herakleios (610–41) diverted their energies into the far more manageable and benign roles of court entertainment: music and dancing, which had already been expanded in the sixth century. The chapter narrates the coup d'état staged by soldiers from the nearby military units of Opsikion and Thrace against Philippikos, who celebrated Constantinople's birthday on 11 May 713 with the customary races in the Hippodrome.

Resumen
Este estudo objetiva identificar o nível de conhecimento e aplicação da educação financeira por idosos endividados na cidade do Rio de Janeiro, RJ. A pesquisa possui abordagem qualitativa, quantitativa e descritiva.

The productivity of the grasslands is determined by the biodiversity of the plant species present in the vegetation, their quality, but also their exploitation. For their inventory, a series of determination methods are used, methods that are difficult to manage and that require a good knowledge of the plant species. For an agronomic characterization of the plots, it is sufficient to consider only the main species that dominate the plant biomass. A more simplified method is that of botanical surveys which focus only on recognizing the dominant grasses in grasslands. This method allows for an agronomic diagnosis of a grassland without modifying the variables studied, namely, the percentage of biomass participation and the percentage of each functional type of grasses. The method allows the application of a functional typology that can estimate the value of use (forage quality, productivity, precocity or lateness) of a grassland. The purpose of this work is to classify the species by plant families, establish the pastoral value and inventory the grass species, as well as classify them from a morphofunctional point of view, in order to implement some management strategies aimed at ensuring an optimal exploitation of the grasslands taken into study. The measurements were made on three grasslands belonging to the town of Sasca Montana, Romania, located in the south of the Western Carpathians (4453'13"N 2142'33"E), at an altitude of 237 m. In this area, the average annual temperatures is between 9 - 10C, and the precipitation level is between 700 and 800 mm. The three studied grasslands have a similar floristic composition, but with a different participation percentage of species. The dominant grass species, from a morpho-functional point of view, are species of type C (Festuca valesiaca being the dominant species), which shows that these grasslands are weak and do not adapt to mowing practices, although the species included in this morpho-functional type are species with a fairly good fodder value in the vegetative phase.

Resumen
Chicken manure is a source of biogenic elements and therefore can be used as a nonconventional fertilizer after composting. However, chicken manure can contain different hazardous substances including antibiotic resistant bacteria and corresponding genes of antibiotic resistance that can be transmitted to human and livestock trough soils and plants even after composting. Besides chicken manure composts can contain heavy metals that not only harm soils and yields directly but also stimulate the process of antibiotic resistance genes transfer and therethrough harm soils and plant consumers indirectly. The purpose of the present study was to reveal the potential of the chicken manure biochar, the type of biochar that is not fully studied yet, as a tool to reduce the level of available heavy metals content in the chicken manure composts. For this purpose, chicken manure was composted with straw (control), and with addition of heavy metals mixture (M) as well as with addition of those with 15% chicken manure biochar (BM). Ni, Fe, Cd and Cu were added to the compost mixtures M and BM to reach concentrations of 70, 1500, 130, and 1000 mg/kg, respectively. Composting lasted for 120 days, in all three cases C, M and BM - the thermophilic stage phase lasted from days 2 to 5, and the temperature values were 44-53 ?. It was found that chicken manure biochar is an effective way to reduce the content of available forms of Cd, Fe and Ni at the early stages of composting and reduces the concentration of those metals by 47, 17 and 45 % on the first day, respectively.

Resumen
Ovarian cancers tend to recur in 15-70% cases. CA-125 - is a tumor marker used for monitoring therapeutic response, and in surveillance, for recurrent disease. However, it has a limited role as a persistent high level can signify either recurrence or persistence of residual tumor. Metastases from ovarian cancer primarily involve the peritoneum rather than parenchymal sites; thus, the presence of small-volume recurrence or metastatic deposits on the visceral surfaces poses a challenge for interpretation of CT and MR images. PET/CT utilizes its property of higher accumulation in malignant cells to provide both anatomic and functional information for diagnosing malignant tumors. Objectives: The objectives of the study were to find the correlation between PET/CT findings and final histopathological diagnosis after a secondary cytoreductive surgery in suspected ovarian cancer recurrences. Materials and Methods: PET/CT was done in cases with rising or above normal CA-125 and no radiological findings. These patients with abnormal PET/CT findings were taken up for a secondary cytoreductive surgery and histopathological proven were taken as the standard against which PET/CT positive findings was compared. Results: The mean age in our group of patients with suspected recurrence was 53 years (Range 39-74 years). Of the 52 patients with suspected recurrence, 40 patietnts with a PET-CT scan with findings suggestive of an avid uptake underwent surgery. 22 patients had serous histology, 12 mucinous and 8 had clear cell carcinoma. Stage-wise distribution at the time of primary surgery is as follows stage I-3, stage II-7, stage III-26, stage IV-4. Of the 40 patients who underwent a second look surgery 32 had histopathologically confirmed recurrence. PET-CT detected a total of 86 lesions in the 40 patients who underwent surgery. Of these, 38 were in the lymph nodes 28 in para-aortic and 10 in pelvic, 32 were peritoneal lesions and 14 were pelvic, 2 were metastatic in the parenchyma of liver. Detection of the lesion on PET-CT was size dependant, of the 9 lesions were missed on PET-CT, 7 were less than 0.5 cm. The mean diameter of the lesions detected was 2.2 cm (range 0.3-6.2 cm). PET-CT accurately identified 62 of 70 histopathologically proven lesions. The overall lesion-based sensitivity of PET-CT is 88.6%, specificity 56.2%, Positive predictive value being 72.1%, negative predictive value of 69.2%. Accuracy of detecting lesions greater than 1 cm is 78.6% (44 of 56 lesions). Conclusions: Corelation between PET/CT and histopathologicaldisease: k (cohen value) = 0.81 which suggests excellent correlation. For selected patients with ovarian cancer recurrence may benefit from a comprehensive radiographic imaging survey (PET-CT) at the time of even no or minimal CA-125 elevation in early detection and successful cytoreductive surgical resection and an increase in overall survival.

Tapia, Carlos, Nora Sanchez Gassen y Anna Lundgren. In all fairness: perceptions of climate policies and the green transition in the Nordic Region. Nordregio, mayo de 2023. http://dx.doi.org/10.6027/r2023:5.1403-2503.

Resumen
The survey presented in this report reveals that Nordic citizens are concerned about climate change. Many people are willing to increase efforts to fight climate change, even if this entails a personal contribution in terms of higher taxes or behavioural change. The survey shows that different social groups perceive the impacts of climate change and climate mitigation policies in different ways. In general, attitudes towards climate policies and perceptions regarding their fairness are conditioned by socio-demographic factors such as gender, age, employment status, type of housing and transport behaviour. General attitudes towards climate change and climate policies The first part of this report explores general attitudes towards climate change and climate policies. This section shows that seven in ten (71%) respondents think that climate change is a serious or very serious problem, particularly among the youngest age group (18-29 years). Three in four (74%) interviewed persons in this group share this view. Those with a university degree are more concerned about climate change (83%) than those with primary or secondary education (57% and 62%, respectively). Approximately half (48-51%) of respondents in all age groups agree that more financial resources should be invested in preventing climate change, even if this would imply an increase in taxes. The survey results show that women in the Nordic Region are more concerned about climate change than men (79% compared to 64%). It also reveals that people living in urban areas are more worried about climate change (82%) than those who live in towns and suburbs (68%) or in rural areas (62%). Urban dwellers are also more positive about investing more resources in preventing climate change (59%) than those who live in rural areas (39%) and in towns and suburbs (46%). More than half of the respondents (52%) agree that taking further action on climate change would be beneficial for the economy. Students, unemployed and retired people are more likely to agree with this view (55%, 57% and 55%, respectively) than those currently in employment, including the self-employed (50%). Those employed in carbon-intensive sectors are less positive about the expected economic impact of climate policies than those who work in other economic sectors (41% compared to 55%). They are also more concerned about the risk of job losses during the transition to a low-carbon economy than those employed in sectors with lower carbon intensity (37% compared to 24%). Concerns about this issue are also higher among those who live in rural areas (31%) or towns and suburbs (30%) compared to those who live in cities (22%). Present and future effects of climate change mitigation policies on individuals and households The central part of the survey explores perceptions regarding the present and future impacts of climate policies. Such challenges are perceived differently depending on specific sociodemographic conditions. Nearly one fourth (23%) of respondents state that high energy costs mean they are struggling to keep their homes at a comfortable temperature. Those living in houses report being more impacted (27%) than those living in apartments (18%), and those using fossil fuels to heat their homes are most affected (44%). The risk of energy poverty is also higher among non-EU immigrants to the Nordic Region. Those who say they are struggling to keep their homes at a comfortable temperature range from 23% among Nordic-born citizens to 37% among non-EU immigrants. Nearly three in ten respondents (28%) have modified their transportation behaviour during the last year due to high fuel costs. This proportion is substantially greater among those living in towns and suburbs (32%) compared to those who live in rural areas (29%) or cities (23%). The majority of the Nordic population (52%) states that current climate policies have a neutral effect on their household economies. However, 28% of respondents say they are negatively impacted by climate policies in economic terms. Men report being negatively affected more frequently than women (33% vs 22%, respectively). People who live in houses are more likely to claim they are being negatively impacted than people who live in apartments (31% and 23%, respectively). Nearly half (45%) of the respondents in the Nordic Region agree that climate initiatives will improve health and well-being, and half of the respondents (50%) think that climate change initiatives will lead to more sustainable lifestyles in their area. However, half (51%) of the Nordic population expect to see increases in prices and the cost of living as a consequence of climate policies, and those who believe that climate policies will create jobs and improve working conditions in the areas where they live (31% and 24%, respectively) are outnumbered by those who believe the opposite (35% and 34%, respectively). Fairness of climate policies The last section of the report looks at how the Nordic people perceive the fairness of climate policies in distributional terms. In the survey, the respondents were asked to judge to what extent they agree or disagree that everyone in their country or territory is equally affected by initiatives to fight climate change regardless of personal earnings, gender, age, country of origin and where they live – cities or rural areas. The results show that the Nordic people believe climate change initiatives affect citizens in different ways depending on their demographic, socioeconomic and territorial backgrounds. More than half of the respondents (56%) disagree that everyone is equally affected by initiatives to fight climate change regardless of earnings. Only 22% agree with this statement. Younger age groups are more pessimistic than older age groups on this point (66% in the 18-29 age group compared to 41% in the 65+ group). Almost half of respondents (48%) agree that climate policies are fair from a gender perspective, while 25% disagree with this statement and 23% are neutral. Roughly one in three (30%) respondents in the Nordic Region agree that people are equally affected by climate change initiatives regardless of age, 41% disagree with this statement and 25% are neutral. More than one third (35%) of the Nordic population agree that everyone is equally affected by initiatives to fight climate change regardless of the country of origin, while 34% of them disagree. More than half of respondents (56%) think that the impact of climate initiatives differs between rural and urban areas, while only 22% think that all areas are equally affected. Respondents who live in cities are more likely to respond that climate policy impacts differ between rural and urban areas (60%) than respondents who live in rural areas (55%) and towns and suburbs (53%). One third (33%) of respondents in the survey think that the Sámi population is affected by climate change initiatives to the same extent as the rest of the population. In Greenland, a majority of the population (62%) agrees that the indigenous population in Greenland is equally affected by measures to combat climate change. The results from this survey conducted in the autumn of 2022, show that the population in the Nordic Region perceive the impacts of climate mitigation policies in different ways. These results can raise awareness and stimulate debate about the implementation of climate mitigation policies for a just green transition.
