Resumen

We sintered α (6H)- and β(3C)-SiC powders using an Al-B-C additive. SiC powders were densified to > 98% of the theoretical density from 1950 to 2150oC with 0.67-2.7 mass % AlB2 and 2.0 mass % C. Sintering temperatures are 150-200 oC lower than the conventional. During sintering, 6H polytype in α-SiC powder was partly transformed to 4H. α-SiC powder grew moderately into plate-shaped grains. β-/SiC powder was completely transformed to 6H and subsequently 4H with large grain growth. Low-temperature sintering enabled us to use hot isostatic pressing resulting in pore-free SiC materials.

Resumen

AlN-SiC ceramics with 0 to 75 mol% of AlN were fabricated through pressureless sintering of very fine AlN and SiC. Powder compacts with different amounts of AlN were fired at 2000°C for 1 h in Argon gas flow using an induction-heating furnace. The microstructure and phases present in the products were evaluated using SEM and XRD. The AlN-SiC ceramics had a porous structure with 30% porosity, and the grain size was increased with the addition of AlN. XRD analysis showed that 2H was a main phase in all samples, though 3C and 6H phases were found in 25 mol%AlN-75 mol%SiC ceramic. The electrical properties of the AlN-SiC ceramics were evaluated at various temperatures ranging from room temperature to 300°C. The electrical conductivity of the AlN-SiC ceramics depended on the amount of AlN and on the temperature. The 75 mol%AlN-SiC ceramic had higher electrical resistance, though the other samples were electrical conductors. The highest electrical conductivity was obtained with the 25 mol% AlN composition, which was 7 S/m at room temperature and 30 S/m at 300°C. The Seebeck coefficient for the AlN-SiC ceramics increased with rising temperatures. The AlN-SiC ceramics with 50 mol%AlN had the highest Seebeck coefficient of 220 2V/K at 300°C.

Resumen

ABSTRACT Deformed wing virus (DWV) of honeybees (Apis mellifera) is closely associated with characteristic wing deformities, abdominal bloating, paralysis, and rapid mortality of emerging adult bees. The virus was purified from diseased insects, and its genome was cloned and sequenced. The genomic RNA of DWV is 10,140 nucleotides in length and contains a single large open reading frame encoding a 328-kDa polyprotein. The coding sequence is flanked by a 1,144-nucleotide 5′ nontranslated leader sequence and a 317-nucleotide 3′ nontranslated region, followed by a poly(A) tail. The three major structural proteins, VP1 (44 kDa), VP2 (32 kDa), and VP3 (28 kDa), were identified, and their genes were mapped to the N-terminal section of the polyprotein. The C-terminal part of the polyprotein contains sequence motifs typical of well-characterized picornavirus nonstructural proteins: an RNA helicase, a chymotrypsin-like 3C protease, and an RNA-dependent RNA polymerase. The genome organization, capsid morphology, and sequence comparison data indicate that DWV is a member of the recently established genus Iflavirus.

In derivational word have meaning adding affixes, there are three kinds of affixes. Includes of suffix, prefix and infix to word in this research the writer want to know the third semester students at FKIP UIR capability in changing the derivational word. This research is descriptive quantitative there are one variable in this research. The location of this research was in English department of FKIP UIR and the writer took the data on November 20011 there are seven clases in third semester that consist of 317 student as population and the sample of this research was 47 students in 3c class. There is one instrument in this research, it is test and this test was given consist of three test. It was used to know students ability in changing the derivational word. From the data analysis, it can be seen for the first test there are 89,36% students feel difficult in changing infix 87,23% students feel difficult in changing suffix and 0% in changing prefix, after that from the second test there are 100% students feel difficult in changing infix, 80,85% students feel difficult in changing suffix and 21,27% students feel difficult in changing prefix and the last test there are 95,74% students feel difficult in changing infix, 87,23% students feel difficult in changing suffix and 68,08% students feel difficult in changing prefix, so it can be concluded the students more difficult in changing derivational word into infix. It can be seen from the explanation above from three times taken the data.

Resumen

We report observations of the radio galaxy 3C 317 (at z = 0.0345) located at the center of the Abell cluster A2052, obtained with the VLT/MUSE integral field spectrograph. The Chandra images of this cluster show cavities in the X-ray emitting gas, which were produced by the expansion of the radio lobes inflated by the active galactic nucleus (AGN). Our exquisite MUSE data show with unprecedented detail the complex network of line emitting filaments enshrouding the northern X-ray cavity. We do not detect any emission lines from the southern cavity, with a luminosity asymmetry between the two regions higher than ~75. The emission lines produced by the warm phase of the interstellar medium (WIM) enable us to obtain unique information on the properties of the emitting gas. We find dense gas (up to 270 cm−3) that makes up part of a global quasi spherical outflow that is driven by the radio source, and obtain a direct estimate of the expansion velocity of the cavities (265 km s−1). The emission lines diagnostic rules out ionization from the AGN or from star-forming regions, suggesting instead ionization from slow shocks or from cosmic rays. The striking asymmetric line emission observed between the two cavities contrasts with the less pronounced differences between the north and south sides in the hot gas; this represents a significant new ingredient for our understanding of the process of the exchange of energy between the relativistic plasma and the external medium. We conclude that the expanding radio lobes displace the hot tenuous phase of the interstellar medium (ISM), but also impact the colder and denser ISM phases. These results show the effects of the AGN on its host and the importance of radio mode feedback.

Resumen

The observed properties of galaxies and supermassive black holes (BH) at their centers suggest that there must be a non-gravitational feedback mechanism regulating their evolution. These are the discrepancy at low and high masses between the observed stellar mass function of galaxies and that predicted by ΛCDM models, the scaling relations between the mass of BHs and the velocity dispersion, mass and luminosity of the host galaxy spheroid and the similarity between BH growth and star formation cosmic histories. Models of galaxy formation and evolution in fact routinely include feedback from active galactic nuclei (AGN) and supernovae (SNe), which can successfully reproduce the observed properties cited above. Models consider the following two types of AGN feedback: the radiative mode (or quasar mode), that operates during a luminous AGN phase through winds powered by radiation pressure, and the kinetic (or radio) mode, in which kinetic energy is released by the AGN on longer timescales through relativistic jets, which heat the surrounding halo in galaxy clusters, thus preventing cooling and further accretion on the central galaxy, and consequently further star formation. So far, the clearest observational evidence of AGN feedback comes from the kinetic mode in massive central cluster galaxies. Radiative feedback is instead more elusive, and has been recently revealed in action only in a few luminous quasars around the peak of AGN activity history (z~2), where most powerful outflows are observed. However, it is not possible to study high-z quasar outflows on small spatial scales (<100 pc), being poorly-resolved or even unresolved in observations, due to their large distances. This can lead to systematics and uncertainties in the determination of outflow properties and forces to make some assumptions on them, which further increases the uncertainties on the outflow energetics and complicates the evaluation of the impact of outflows on host galaxies and the comparison with models. On the contrary, due to their vicinity, nearby active galaxies are ideal laboratories to explore in detail outflow properties, their formation and acceleration mechanisms, as well as the effects of AGN activity on host galaxies. This work focuses on investigating the properties of outflows in nearby Seyfert galaxies, the physical conditions of the ionized gas and the interplay between nuclear activity and star formation in the galaxy, thanks to the unprecedented combination of spatial and spectral coverage provided by the integral field spectrograph MUSE at the Very Large Telescope (VLT). We introduce our optically- and X-ray selected sample of nearby Seyferts, called MAGNUM survey. We present our MUSE emission-line flux and kinematic maps of the 10 objects we have analyzed so far, including a star-forming galaxy, NGC 6810, to study the properties of a starburst outflow for comparison as well. We map the ionized gas down to spatial scales as low as ~10 pc. We find ubiquitous ionization cones and outflows with various morphologies and extensions, from a few hundred pc to several kpc. We detect peculiar kinematic features suggestive of outflows with hollow-conical structures. We also identify enhanced linewidths perpendicular to radio jets, which point to a correlation between the presence of jets and perpendicular turbulent or outflowing gas motions. We then focus on a detailed multi-wavelength study of the ionized gas and outflow, in terms of physical properties, kinematics, and ionization mechanisms, in one specific galaxy of our sample, NGC 1365, from MUSE in optical band and Chandra satellite in X-rays. Here we map a kpc-scale biconical outflow ionized by the AGN prominent in [O III], while Hα emission traces star formation in a circumnuclear ring and along the bar of the galaxy. Soft X-rays are mostly due to thermal emission from the star-forming regions, but we manage to isolate the AGN photoionized component which matches the [O III] emission from MUSE. We map the mass outflow rate of the galactic ionized outflow, which matches that of the nuclear X-ray wind and then decreases with radius. The integrated mass outflow rate, kinetic energy rate, and outflow velocity are broadly consistent with the typical relations observed in more luminous AGN. We extend our analysis to the nearby star-forming galaxy NGC 6810, whose bipolar galactic ionized outflow we map with MUSE. We determine the dominant ionization mechanism in the outflow, its density and ionization parameter, discovering the first case of star formation occurring within an outflow in an unambiguously star-forming galaxy. We finally investigate with MUSE also the kinetic AGN feedback, by studying the ionized gas enshrouding the X-ray cavity inflated by radio jets around the massive radio-galaxy 3C 317 at the center of the local cluster Abell 2052. Thanks to MUSE capabilities, by mapping the warm gas filaments enshrouding the bubble we are able to directly measure the expansion velocity of the cavity, which usually is instead assumed or derived from indirect and model-dependent methods.

Resumen

Abstract Over the past few years, owing to different critical features such as high energy densities, safety, cycle-life etc., Lithium-ion batteries have been used successfully as an energy storage system for automotive applications. In addition, due to recent increase in interests towards developing EVTOL (Electric Vertical Take-Off and Landing) aircrafts, demand for Li-Ion batteries capable of providing high power discharge and charge along with above mentioned features has increased. Thermal Management System (TMS) is a critical component of a Li-Ion battery system that enables sustained high-power peak performance, improves overall life-cycle, and reduces possibility of thermal runaway during regular vehicle operation. The current article studies two different cooling configurations for thermal management of a commercially available 9 A-h Nickel Manganese Cobalt (NMC) Lithium-ion pouch cell for high C-rate conditions. The two configurations are referred to as the Double-sided cooling and Hybrid cooling, which includes a novel approach utilizing graphite-based heat spreader. The thermal performance for both configurations are studied through experimental testing and CFD (computational fluid dynamics) modeling. During experimental analysis, the pouch cell was subjected to high C-rate discharges of 3C, 4C and 5C using an Arbin controller and thermal test bench including a cold plate, mass flow meter, and temperature sensors. The temperature response of the cell is measured using T-type thermocouples that are strategically installed on its surface using a thermal interface material. For the numerical analysis, time-accurate, conjugate heat transfer-based 3D CFD simulations are conducted on high spatial resolution grids with a commercially available finite-volume method based CFD software. Numerical simulations at the mentioned C-rates are then run to explore the overall temperature distribution on the cell body. Temperature estimates from the numerical model are compared to the test data for the most aggressive 5C discharge condition. Both experimental testing and numerical modeling show that the Hybrid cooling approach provides higher rate of heat transfer compared to Double-sided cooling, owing to high thermal conductivity of graphite. Average cell surface temperatures using Hybrid cooling are ∼3°C, 3.7°C and 4.3°C lower than Double-sided cooling for 3C, 4C and 5C discharge conditions, respectively. The maximum measured cell temperature at the end of the most aggressive 5C discharge is 6°C lower in the case of Hybrid cooling. The temperature gradients are also less aggressive thereby allowing for a more uniform temperature distribution within the cell. Additional results in terms of flow and temperature distributions are also provided for the cold plate present in the cooling setup.
