1. Background The conference is a continuation of the preceding 16th conferences that have been held in the name of the Asian International Conference on Fluid Machinery (AICFM). It has developed from the fourth conference (1993) as an International Conference though the start was held in two countries of Japan and China. After that the conference was held in Seoul (1997), Johar Baru (2000), Fukuoka (2003), Yichang (2005), Jeju (2007), Kualalumpur (2009), Chennai (2011), and Yogyakarta (2013), Tokyo (2015), Zhenjiang (2017), Busan (2019) and Yokohama (2021). The Asian Fluid Machinery Committee (AFMC) was established during the 9th AICFM 2007 held in Jeju, Korea. The conference is organized by AFMC and CSET. The current manuscript aims to reverberate the ordinary past: intersubjective relations in the interior of African continent through commercial and diplomatic charters. The cultural symbol-code is reframed, owing to interrelationship with geographical, political and institutional circumstances and historical conditions that foster re-interpretation of code, focused on unveiling the subjectivation and individuation’s process of the African black during 16th and 17th centuries. The object of this study is commercial and diplomatic charters circulate during 16th and 17th centuries and three Ambaquistas’ charters or their disciples circulate during 19th century. In methodological terms, it has adopted a qualitative research, by review of literature, anchored on historical and anthropological perspective, to discuss, through bibliographical research, based on authors: Vansina (2000); Heintz (2005); Margarido (2000) e Santos (2004), the organization, social and political structure of the different temporalities of the event in a diachronic way. To describe the architecture of the epistolary genre of the Ambaquistas’ charters or their disciples was used the following categories: the textual elements and the paratextual elements subdivide into pre-text and post-text. To analysis the constitutive elements of textual materiality of the charters, it has used theoretical framework from Anthropology, Psychoanalysis and French Discourse Analysis for the purpose of indicating the subjectivation and individuation’s marks of the socio-historical subject, Angolan citizen. The author concludes that the charters’ discursive formation values hermetic cosmos in the subjectivation and individuation’s process of African black, makes him impossible not only for experiencing and living the symbolic interactionism, the cultural imaginary in the identity formulation, but also value his respective diacritic signals, because of tensions, identitary clashes and relations of power that profile the different temporalities of social, political and economic structure in the interior of African continent.

Hermann Bondi was an applied mathematician of distinction who will be remembered by fellow scientists for his outstanding contributions to astronomy, cosmology and General Relativity, and particularly for his pioneering contributions to our understanding of gravitational waves, his foundational work on accretion, and as co–creator with Tommy Gold and Fred Hoyle of the steady state theory of cosmology. But Hermann had an equally important second career in scientific administration: advising the UK Government on the Thames Barrier, as Director General of the European Space Research Organisation (ESRO; now the European Space Agency (ESA)), as Chief Scientific Adviser to the UK Government on Defence and then on Energy, as Chairman of the Natural Environment Research Council (NERC), and finally as Master of Churchill College, Cambridge. He was knighted in 1973. He continued his research on gravitational radiation throughout his administrative career and published his 16th paper in the series on gravitational waves in 2004. Hermann will be remembered not only for his contributions to science and administration but also for his outstanding communication skills and as a charismatic, warm, and stimulating person.

The verbs of coming and going as a means of modality have been investigated in a number of languages: Russian (Majsak 2005; Bourdin 2014), Latvian (Wälchli 1996, 2000), Estonian (Penjam 2006), Finnish (Kangasniemi 1992) and others. However, with the exception of some observations made by Wälchli (1996) or Nau (2012), the realization of modality by ‘come’ or ‘go’ verbs in Lithuanian has not been thoroughly examined. Thus, the present paper is concerned with a diachronic as well as synchronic variation pertaining to two Lithuanian verbs of motion that contain the root ‘go’, i.e. pareiti ‘come home, return’ and prieiti ‘approach on foot’ as well as their reflexive counterparts. The article seeks to establish to what extent the verbs under analysis have developed modal meanings in Contemporary Lithuanian as well as the earliest period of the language (16th–17th centuries) and to account for the possible diachronic evolution of modal meanings. It focuses on both qualitative as well as quantitative parameters. The data have been collected from the old written Lithuanian texts (16th–17th centuries) and the corpus of the Contemporary Lithuanian Language, namely its subcorpus of fiction texts. The text sample on which the study is based shows that the modal constructions with the Lithuanian verbs of motion based on the root ‘go’ appear in the 16th century. It is only the reflexive forms pareitis(i) (‘PREF-go-REFL’) and prieitis(i) (‘PREF-go-REFL’) that have potential to realise non-epistemic modality: the analysed material did not reveal any instances where non-reflexive forms pareiti and prieiti are used to convey modality. The predominant modal meaning of the reflexive verbs pareitis(i) and prieitis(i) concerns the meaning of participant-external as well as deontic necessity. As for Contemporary Lithuanian, the ‘go’-derived necessive constructions are rather marginal in the contemporary system of modality: the verbs under analysis are more common in spoken Lithuanian or dialects than in written Lithuanian. Moreover, semantic distribution among the reflexive verbs under consideration differs in Old and in Contemporary Lithuanian. Deontic necessity takes the leading position among the reflexive verb pareitis(i) in Old Lithuanian, whereas participant-external necessity predominates among the reflexive verb prisieiti in Contemporary Lithuanian.

SUMMARYThe prevalence and genotype distribution of human papillomavirus (HPV) infection in women with normal cervical cytology varies widely according to the population studied. Two non-overlapping population-based cohort studies of women aged ⩾30 years for the periods 2008–2009 (n=5026) and 2004–2005 (n=10 014) were analysed. The prevalence rate of HPV was 11·0% (95% CI 10·5–11·6). HPV infection was significantly associated with age, menopausal status, and inversely associated with hormone replacement therapy. There was an increasing trend of α3/α15, α5/α6, and multiple HPV infections with increasing age. The five most common types were HPV52, 18, 53, 58 and 70, while HPV16, 31, 33 ranked 21st, 25th, and 16th, respectively, in the merged cohort with normal cytology (n=14 724). HPV16, 31, and 33 were significantly associated with abnormal cytology, which could have resulted in their rarity in the total merged cohort (n=15 040).

In 2003–2005 it was solved the issue about the nutrient balance in the permanent grasslands of Research Institute for Cattle Breeding Rapotín. In trial it was used these types of utilization: 1. Intensive – 4 cuts per year (1st cut up to 15th May, every next after 45 days), 2. Medium intensive – 3 cuts per year (1st cut from 16th to 31st May, every next after 60 days), 3. Low intensive – 2 cuts per year (1st cut up to 15th June, 2nd after 90 days), 4. Extensive – 2 cuts per year (1st cut from 16th to 30th June, 2nd after 90 days). There were following variants of the fertilization: A – no fertilization, B – P:K 30:60 kg.ha – 1, C – N:P:K 90:30:60 kg.ha – 1, D – N:P:K 180:30:60 kg.ha – 1. There was the considerable reaction of the permanent grassland on the nutrient application. The highest value of the coefficient of the neutral efficiency was by the fertilization N:P:K 90:30:60 kg of the pure nutrients. By the most of the variants we have noticed the negative nitrogen balance. The negative balance of the phosphorous was marked only by the unfertilized variants. All variants of the permanent grassland utilization had the negative potassium balance. The utilization had the significant influence (P0.01) to all observed indicators. The year had the significant influence too. From the point of view of the rational plant nutrition and of the environment protection from the contamination (especially from the nitrates) it appears as the most advisable the medium intensive type of the utilization with nitrogen dose: N:P:K 90:30:60.

This trail was carried out on twelve Awassi ewes in the Animal Farm of College of Veterinary Medicine in June 2005 to study the cellular changes that occur in the vaginal epithelium after parturition, by using vaginal smear method. The post-parturient period was divided into three periods; 4th, 16th and 28th days after parturition. Each period presented different sizes of vaginal epithelial cells, some of them were predominant. Keratinization takes place in all periods. The 2nd period was characterized by cellular division, presence of vacuolated epithelial cells and WBCs mainly neutrophils cells. The conclusion, variations in the vaginal epithelium may relate to the physiological status and the hormonal activity of the animals.

Since the start of the new millennium, applied linguists have paid increasing attention to studies of English as a lingua franca (ELF), defined as ‘communication in English between speakers with different first languages’ (Seidlhofer 2005: 339). From the ELF perspective, L2 speakers of English are no longer considered as ‘failed native speakers’ who produce problematic talk, but as ‘highly skilled communicators’ (Jenkins, Cogo & Dewey 2011: 284) who attempt to use multilingual resources to achieve their communicative goals.

In the course of two successive projects, the first in 2005 and the second in 2020, work on the fragments of frescoes in Mileševa resulted in the integration of five ensembles that could be reconstructed into the basic outline. In addition to this, certain ensembles were integrated that we cannot present in the same way either because we lack the knowledge about the complete appearance or because it is impossible to accurately determine the edge of the scene. As for individual figures, very likely from the first zone, a face from the 13th century was partly integrated and the figure of a monk from the 16th century. Of the inscriptions, two were partly established, the first which probably indicated the name Stefan, from the 16th century, and the other inscription in the circular field beside the Mother of God, containing the phrase 'of God' (Serb. B(o)žia), from the 16th or the 17th century. A right hand was partly integrated from the ensemble of a colossal figure, belonging to which were two fragments of an eye. We believe that this was a bust of Christ that was at the top of the Eastern wall of the narthex. Originating perhaps from the same ensemble is an ensemble of five integrated fragments, as well as two more smaller integrated ensembles, which could represent the lower part of Christ's body, in the scene of the Crucifixion. The red mineral mercury (cinnabarite) was used in addition to the earth pigments in the artist's palette, as well as ultramarine, lapis lazuli. The use of 24-karat gold leaf was confirmed on the fragment of a nimbus. Since pure gold was used only on the nimbuses in the narthex, and not gilded silver, clearly, this fragment was from the narthex, as we had assumed.

We reproduce the capacity drop phenomenon at a road merge by implementing a non-local point constraint at the junction in a first order traffic model. We call capacity drop the situation in which the outflow through the junction is lower than the receiving capacity of the outgoing road, as too many vehicles trying to access the junction from the incoming roads hinder each other. In this paper, we first construct an enhanced version of the locally constrained model introduced by Haut et al. (Proceedings 16th IFAC World Congress. Prague, Czech Republic 229 (2005) TuM01TP/3), then we propose its counterpart featuring a non-local constraint and finally we compare numerically the two models by constructing an adapted finite volumes scheme.

From 1998 to 2005, the once left-wing Protestant Dutch broadcasting company VPRO aired 26 episodes of The White Cowboy, including the episode ‘De Kerkgangers’ (‘The Churchgoers’). In this article, the author argues that this episode is an excellent example of the contemporary reception of the 16th century Protestant reformation within the Netherlands at the turn of the millennium. Within the secular context of contemporary Dutch society, the stereotypical world-avoidance and lack of any joie de vivre associated with the strict observants of the Dutch reformation are used to mock Protestantism specifically and Christianity (or even religion altogether) in general. Nevertheless, a more positive interpretation also remains possible if one is able to understand secularism itself as a product of the Christian tradition to begin with.

Using this “writing as inquiry” (Richardson & St. Pierre, 2005) methodological and theoretical approach, we embark upon our métissage of making kin. With research interests in the fields of Indigenous Language Revitalization (Benson), Ecojustice Education (Lemon), and Decolonial/Equitable Teacher Education and Schooling (Thomas), we weave together our micro-stories, provoked by the temporal questions: Where do we come from? Where are we right now? Where do we hope things will go?

Abstract Background: The National Cancer Institute’s Colorectal Cancer Risk Assessment Tool (NCI-CCRAT) estimates an individual's five-year risk of developing colorectal cancer. It was developed by estimating relative risks from a population of US White women and men and incorporating race, gender, and age-specific incidence data from population-based cancer registries. However, the model performance has not been assessed for Black Americans, who have the highest colorectal cancer incidence and mortality rates of any US racial/ethnic group. Methods: The NCI-CCRAT estimates the absolute risk of colorectal cancer based on an individual’s age, sex, family history of colorectal cancer, sigmoidoscopy/colonoscopy, polyps, smoking, physical activity, regular aspirin/nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) use, vegetable intake, body mass index, and hormone replacement therapy use. Validation of the NCI-CCRAT was performed using prospective data from 57,558 participants ages 40 to 84 years in the Black Women's Health Study (BWHS). We predicted 5-year absolute risk using data from 2001 through 2015 in three 5-year prediction periods: 2001-2005, 2006-2010, and 2011-2015. To assess model performance, we computed calibration by comparing the expected number of colorectal cancer cases predicted by the model to the observed number of cases (E/O) in the BWHS overall and in subgroups of the population. We assessed discriminatory accuracy by calculating the area under the curve (AUC). Results: During follow-up from 2001 through 2015 (634,512 person-years), 433 BWHS participants developed invasive colorectal cancer. Based on the NCI-CCRAT, 543 cases were expected. The NCI-CCRAT was well-calibrated in the first 5-year prediction period (2001-2005 E/O=1.03, 95% CI: 0.88–1.21), but the model overestimated risk in the subsequent 5-year prediction periods, with E/O=1.30 for 2006-2010 and E/O=1.44 for 2011-2015. The overall E/O ratio was 1.25 (95% confidence interval: 1.14–1.38), indicating that NCI-CCRAT overestimated the number of cases in this population of Black women. Of note, associations with colorectal cancer were weaker in the BWHS than in the development cohort for vigorous physical activity, aspirin/NSAID use, vegetable intake, and body mass index. We estimated discriminatory accuracy only for the first 5-year prediction period (2001-2005, N cases=151) for which the model was well calibrated, and obtained an age-adjusted AUC of 0.61 (95% CI: 0.57–0.66). Conclusions: The NCI-CCRAT overestimated the overall number of colorectal cancer cases by 25% in this prospective cohort of Black women, possibly due to population-specific differences in the relative risks of key factors driving colorectal cancer incidence. Discriminatory accuracy was similar to measures from the original validation cohort of White women and men. Impact: This study suggests that further research is needed to determine the most important predictors of colorectal cancer etiology in Black women and to develop and test a colorectal cancer risk prediction model for Black Americans. "Kyoto Protocol" came into force on the February 16th, 2005. It introduced rules on the responsibilities of reducing greenhouse gas emission so as to alleviate and deal with problems caused by climate change. Among the three fulfillment mechanisms in "Kyoto Protocol", the Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) is the only one related to developing countries. As one of the most important developing countries in the world, it is urgent for China to make rational use of the CDM to support its high-speed economic development. At this point, nation-scale carbon related data are critical. This paper introduced the acquisition of soil, vegetation and land use/land cover data at a large scale using remotely sensed data and the simulation of carbon sink/source by means of ecosystem models. Remotely sensed data play an important role in the extraction of qualitative and quantitative information for CDM related researches and activities.

The Ahi Çelebi Mosque, which is among Istanbul’s oldest mosques, is located on the shores of the Golden Horn in the Eminönü. This mosque, which was very probably built by Ahi Çelebi towards the end of the 15th century, was restored during the 16th century by Architect Sinan. It is a stone building with a rectangular plan, single dome, with a rear congregational area/son cemaat yeri in front of its main space, and a cut stone minaret at its right corner. Damaged by fires and earthquakes during its long history, this building, set on reclaimed land, was restored and strengthened at various times through the years. In the 1980s, the building was unfavourably affected by the construction of the new Galata Bridge; it began to sink and slide towards the sea, with the result that it had to be supported with steel girdles as a temporary measure and was abandoned. In 2000, the General Directorate of Foundations had concrete pillars added underground to stabilise the base, and the sea water around the foundations was pumped out. During the last restoration carried out in 2005-2006, the main dome and walls were strengthened, the minaret was rebuilt, and the interior plaster and decorations were redone. In this study we shall make a general re-evaluation of the restoration work undertaken on the 500 year old Ahi Çelebi Mosque. We shall determine to what degree the structural interventions and, in particular, the contemporary interventions have been able to maintain the original materials, shapes, workmanship and period additions, and whether or not these are distinguishable, reversible and suitable to the aesthetics of the whole.

Since the Portuguese era in Malacca in the 16th century, many authentic colonial heritage buildings were built in Malacca and other parts of Malaysia, most of which were masonry structural buildings. After Melaka and George Town received recognition from UNESCO as World Heritage Sites on 7th July 2008, heritage building conservation in Malaysia has attracted serious attention from various parties. Since the establishment of the National Heritage Department under the National Heritage Act 2005 (Act 645) on 1 March 2006, the implementation of scientific tests in heritage building conservation practice in Malaysia has been encouraged and recommended by the Department. However, scientific tests are normally only conducted in conservation works of National Heritage buildings and some Category I heritage buildings, but not made compulsory for all heritage buildings conservation projects in Malaysia. This paper is based on a research carried out to study the scientific tests conducted in masonry heritage building as part of conservation practice in Malaysia. The research findings revealed that scientific tests such as X-ray fluorescence test, ion chromatography test, moisture test and Schmidt hammer rebound test are important for masonry heritage building conservation in Malaysia. The basic guidelines to conduct the scientific tests derived from the research findings will be able to enhance the current practice in conserving masonry heritage buildings in Malaysia.

Abstract. The shallow marine Late Holocene wedge of the northern Salerno Bay shelf (Southern Tyrrhenian Sea) discloses the presence of four decimetric shelf-tapering sand beds. Their internal features, depicted by cores analysis and their stratigraphic position, revealed by VHR seismic investigations, inferred sandy layers as being the result of flash deposition, storm controlled, thus episodic. Stratigraphic correlations among cores lead to constrain sandy layers deposition to storm events falling in the 11th, 16th, 19th and 20th centuries. A certain attribution of the most recent event bed to the major cloudburst that hit the Salerno region in 1954A.D. and resulted in a disastrous flood of the Bonea stream, was formerly achieved. A tentative link with two sea-storms that occurred in the 1544A.D. and in the 1879A.D. and well documented by historical sources is here proposed to explain the deposition of the two previous event beds. The deposition of these sandy layers must be related to major storm events, since their preservation in the stratigraphic record is not common. Lithostratigraphic and textural differences between flood and sea-storm emplacement emerge from the study of sandy layers in cores and point to a prevalence of sea-storm deposits in the middle shelf compared to flood deposits. Seismic stratigraphic evidence lead us to suppose that the style of episodic flash deposition has been running on for the last 2-3kyr and is probably linked to a climatic trend of the region.

The 16th International Symposium on Organometallic Chemistry Directed Towards Organic Synthesis (OMCOS 16) was held in Shanghai, China during the period of 24-28 July 2011. It was jointly organized by the Shanghai Institute of Organic Chemistry (SIOC), the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), and East China Normal University under the auspices of the International Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry. It was held at the Shanghai International Convention Center, located in the heart of the Lujiazui-Shanghai Financial and Trade zone, adjacent to the Oriental Pearl TV Tower and facing the multinational styles of architecture along the Bund across the Huangpu River, nicely showing part of the history and the dynamic nature of China at this moment.It was the first time for mainland China to host the OMCOS meeting following the successful series of symposia held at Fort Collins (1981), Dijon (1983), Kyoto (1985), Vancouver (1987), Florence (1989), Utrecht (1991), Kobe (1993), Santa Barbara (1995), Gottingen (1997), Versailles (1999), Taipei (2001), Toronto (2003), Geneva (2005), Nara (2007), and Glasgow (2009).The symposium program featured 11 plenary lectures, 13 invited lectures, 12 oral presentations, one OMCOS Award Lecture (sponsored by Springer Verlag and the Yen-Chuang Foundation), and one OBC Award Lecture (sponsored by the Royal Society of Chemistry). Notably, the plenary lecture given by the Nobel laureate, Prof. Ei-ichi Negishi, was delivered right after the reception dinner on 24 July. Prof. Frank Glorius from Universität Münster received the OMCOS Award, and Prof. Michael C. Willis from the University of Oxford received the OBC Award.The symposium was attended by 993 participants from 21 countries and areas. The scientific program also presented well-supported poster sessions comprising 507 posters of remarkably high quality. Мета цього дослідження – проаналізувати можливість використовувати погляди Р. В. Ленекера на когнітивну семантику як семантико-текстологічну модель перекладознавчого аналізу. Матеріалом для розгляду обрано твір «Слово некоего калугера о чьтьи книг» із «Ізборника Святослава» 1076 р. та його три переклади: два переклади сучасною українською мовою (повний – В. Яременка, частковий – Є. Карпіловської й Л. Тарновецької) та один переклад англійською мовою (В. Федера). Теорія когнітивної семантики Р. Ленекера орієнтується здебільшого на граматичні проблеми й опис мови через параметри простору. Параметрам опису образности, які пропонує когнітивна семантика, бракує чіткости, які мають аналітичні методи структуралізму. Однак, вони виконують головну аналітичну функцію: вони дозволяють усвідомити наявні в перекладі порушення й відхилення від першотвору та намагатися усвідомити їхню природу й межі.

Abstract We aimed to investigate life-course factors associated with blood pressure (BP) among Ugandan adolescents. Between 9th April 2003 and 24th November 2005, 2507 pregnant women from Entebbe municipality and Katabi sub-county were enrolled into a deworming trial. The resulting 2345 live-born offspring were followed to age 10 or 11 years, when between 20th May 2014 to 16th June 2016, BP was measured following standard protocols. Factors associated with BP were assessed using multivariable linear regression. BP was measured in 1119 adolescents with a median age of 10.2 years. Mean systolic BP and diastolic BP was 105.9 mmHg (standard deviation (SD) 8.2) and 65.2 mmHg (SD 7.3), respectively. Maternal gestational body mass index (BMI), higher maternal education status and family history of hypertension were positively associated with adolescent BP. Childhood (age ≤5 years) malaria was associated with lower adolescent systolic BP. Factors measured at time of BP measurement positively associated with systolic BP were age, BMI, waist circumference and Trichuris trichiura (whipworm) infection; higher vegetable consumption was associated with lower systolic BP. Results for diastolic BP were similar, except higher fruit, rather than higher vegetable consumption was associated with lower diastolic BP and there was no association with waist circumference or Trichuris trichiura infection. In summary, life-course exposures were associated with adolescent BP in this tropical birth cohort. Malaria early in life could impact later BP. Interventions initiated early in life targeting individuals with family history of hypertension, aiming to reduce adiposity (in pregnancy and adolescence) and promoting fruit and vegetable consumption might contribute to reducing the risk of high BP and subsequent cardiovascular diseases.

Abstract The paper discusses a relationship between the neoliberal forces shaping contemporary urban transformations and the social sustainability of recent regeneration projects focused on urban heritage. Analysing two post-transitional cases, based on two different approaches, the paper will provide an insight into the dominant processes influencing both practices, as well as their anticipated/announced social sustainability and its achieved level. The first case is from Serbia - the Power Plant “Power and Light” - which was the first one generating alternating current in Belgrade. Located in the Dorcol area, this ex-industrial setting is situated close to the city center. Since 2005, the entire area has undergone a significant transformation into a luxurious residential and commercial complex, initiated by private investors and directed by city authorities in order to change the previous urban image. The second case, the Contemporary Art Center in Plovdiv, Bulgaria, represents different approach. Created in 1997, the center is a non-governmental organisation of public interest. In 1995 the Municipality of Plovdiv obtained the right to locate the center within the remains of the ancient baths of Rome, which were rebuilt under the Turkish Empire. As the 16th century monument, the building belonged to the municipality and in 2004, the three-year period of support started, provided by the association Art Today (the Swiss cultural program), as well as the National Heritage Fund in Bulgaria. The analysis will be based on the selected principles of social sustainability, simultaneously highlighting the problems of heritage (re)use and regeneration in a challenging global environment of uncertain financial flows and shifting local governmental priorities, which could put on hold or totally ignore the aspect of social sustainability.

Planar quadratic differential systems occur in many areas of applied mathematics. Although more than one thousand papers were written on these systems, a complete understanding of this class is still missing. Classical problems, and in particular, Hilbert's 16th problem [Hilbert,1900], are still open for this class. Even when not dealing with limit cycles, still some problems have remained unsolved like a complete classification of different phase portraits without limit cycles. For some time it was thought (see [Coppel, 1966]) there could exist a set of algebraic functions whose signs would completely determine the phase portrait of a quadratic system. Nowadays we already know that this is not so, and that there are some analytical, nonalgebraic functions that also play a role when dealing with limit cycles and separatrix connections. However, it is possible to find out a set of algebraic functions whose signs determine the characteristics of all finite and infinite singular points. Most of the work up to now has dealt with this problem studying it using different normal forms adapted to some subclasses of quadratic systems. A general work useful for any quadratic system regardless of affine changes has only been done for the study of infinite singular points [Schlomiuk et al., 2005]. In this paper, we give a complete global classification of quadratic differential systems according to their topological behavior in the vicinity of the finite singular points. Our classification Main Theorem gives us a complete dictionary describing the local behavior of finite singular points using algebraic invariants and comitants which are a powerful tool for algebraic computations. Linking the result of this paper with the main one of [Schlomiuk et al., 2005] which uses the same algebraic invariants, it is possible to complete the algebraic classification of singular points (finite and infinite) for quadratic differential systems.

Spanish conquest in the New World has two sides, evangelization, and colonization. The former was carried by the missionaries who were heavily influenced by Bartolome de Las Casa and Vitoria, while the latter by conquistadores, the defenders of the conquest. Early missionaries fought for the dignity of the Indios where they clashed with the motives of the conquistadores to exploit human resources. The problematic part was they have to work under the Spanish crown where their point of contact was also their area for friction. When they arrived in the Philippines, that social solidarity and dynamics of social relation continued where it became complex due to the involvement of various groups including the natives and their leaders, the religious orders, and most of all the Spanish Royal Court that had the history of having a heart for the Indians. King Philip II created a space for debates within his agenda of social conscience. Using Durkheim’s structuralist-functionalist approach, historical narratives about early missionaries’ struggles for natives’ dignity in the 16th century Philippines were examined. Durkheim’s social solidarity, dynamics of social relations, and his concepts of anomie as disruptions due to dramatic changes and conflicts were utilized as tools to analyze the quest for total well-being. The achievement of sustainable development goals (SDGs) is authenticated in amplifying the value of human dignity, equality, and respect for each individual. "One Would Rarely Venture behind the Krakowska Gate…": Imaginary Boundaries of the Jewish District in Lublin in Memories of Pre‑war Inhabitants
Up until the World War II, Jews played an important role in the history of Lublin. At least since the 16th century, Jews had lived in the segregated district of Podzamcze, called the “Jewish Town”. Although they started to inhabit the Old Town in 1862 and eventually lived in all parts of Lublin by the interwar period, the former boundaries between the “Jewish” and “Christian” parts of the city remained strongly imprinted in social memory, affecting everyday existence. This article analyses the imaginary boundaries that delineated the “Jewish” district of Lublin in the pre‑World War II period. Drawing on oral testimonies of Christian residents of the city recorded in years 1998‑2005 and archival materials such as articles from local papers, documents of communal institutions, and photos from the 1920s and 1930s, the opposing categories of “ours” and “theirs” have been used to describe social relations in urban space. The author of the article argues that the persistence of segregation in shared memory is expressed not only in visual forms, but it also has sound, smell and taste dimensions.

Objective. To test if serum hCG levels the morning after the ovulatory hCG injection correlate with (1) retrieval efficiency, (2) oocyte maturity, (3) embryo quality, (4) pregnancy, and/or (5) time to implantation in patients undergoing in vitro fertilization (IVF) with intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI).Design. Retrospective cohort analysis.Setting. University-based IVF clinic.Patient(s). All IVF/ICSI cycles from April 2005 to February 2008 whose hCG administration was confirmed (n=472patients).Intervention(s). Serum hCG was measured the morning following the ovulatory injection, on the 16th day following retrieval, and repeated on day 18 for those with positive results.Main Outcome Measure(s). Number of follicles on the day of hCG injection, number of oocytes retrieved, maturity of oocytes, embryo quality, pregnancy outcome, and time to implantation.Result(s). hCG levels did not correlate with retrieval efficiency, oocyte maturity, embryo quality, or pregnancy. Postinjection hCG levels were inversely associated with patient weight and time to implantation.Conclusion(s). No correlation was found between hCG level and any parameter of embryo quality. Patient weight affected hCG levels following hCG injection and during the early period of pregnancy following implantation. No association between postinjection hCG level and time of implantation (adjusted for patient weight) was apparent.

В шестнадцатилетних исследованиях на Полевой опытной станции РГАУ–МСХА им. К. А. Тимирязева (2005–2020 годы) изучено продуктивное долголетие козлятника восточного сорта Гале и люцерны изменчивой сорта Находка. Установлено, что в первые 4 года использования травостоев урожайность агроценозов люцерны, созданных при различных способах обработки почвы, составляла 7,73–8,81 т/га сухой массы, что больше, чем давал козлятник восточный, в 1,8 раза. Урожайность сеяных травостоев люцерны при фрезерной обработке почвы была меньше на 1,08 т/га, чем при пахотной обработке, а на продуктивность козлятника способы основной обработки почвы не оказали существенного влияния. В последующие годы выращивания как козлятника, так и люцерны произошло выравнивание урожайности между вариантами с различными способами обработки почвы, и между ними не выявлено достоверных различий. В следующий четырёхлетний период (с 2009 по 2012 год) люцерна превосходила козлятник по урожайности на 46,8%. В среднем за 9–12-й годы жизни травостоев продуктивность уже козлятника была больше на 13,8%, а за 13–16-й годы — на 78,5%. В среднем за 16 лет травостои на основе люцерны дали больше кормов на 14,3%, но после 10-го года жизни они трансформировались в злаково-разнотравно-люцерновые фитоценозы, в то время как козлятник восточный остался доминирующим компонентом сеяного травостоя. Его доля в ботаническом составе травостоев на 16-й год жизни составляла 77,4–87,3%. За десятилетний период выращивания козлятника восточного pНKCl снизился с 5,75 до 5,46–5,60. Без внесения фосфорных удобрений почва перешла в разряд низкообеспеченной фосфором. Внесение калийных удобрений в течение первых 5 лет выращивания трав в дозе К180 позволило повысить обеспеченность почвы обменным калием с 38 до 71–72 мг/кг почвы. The productive longevities of eastern goat’s rue “Gale” and bastard alfalfa “Nakhodka” were analyzed at the Field Research Station of the Russian Timiryazev State Agrarian University for 16 years (2005–2020). For the first 4 years alfalfa productivity amounted to 7,73–8,81 t ha-1 of dry mass under different tillage practices exceeding the one of eastern goat’s rue by 1.8 times. Rototilling reduced alfalfa yield by 1.08 t ha-1 in comparison to plowing while eastern goat’s rue performance showed no significant variation. In subsequent years tillage practices had no significant impact both on two crops. From 2009 to 2012 alfalfa exceeded eastern goat’s rue in productivity by 46.8%. For 9–12th life cycles eastern goat’s rue exceeded alfalfa productivity by 13.8%, for 13–16th life cycles — by 78.5%. For 16 years alfalfa swards produced 14.3% more forage but after the 10th year alfalfa was not a predominant grass in a mixture unlike eastern goat’s rue ecosystems. Eastern goat’s rue proportion amounted to 77.4–87.3% in a sward in the 16th year. For 10 years of eastern goat’s rue cultivation pНKCl dropped from 5.75 to 5.46–5.60. Without phosphorus fertilizers soil suffered from phosphorus deficit. Application of К180 increased exchange potassium content from 38 to 71–72 mg/kg of soil in the first 5 years

In the broad tradition of the Latvian historical novel, which has flourished in recent decades, the authors have a strong tendency to focus either on ancient history up to the 13th century or on events important to the Latvian nation in the 19th and 20th centuries. Writers are less interested in the era of humanism in the 16th and 17th centuries when the Latvian nation is still sprouting in the ground. However, these centuries have been crucial in defining the region’s geopolitical affiliation and cultural boundaries. From a broader diachronic view at Latvian novels, it can be stated that a number of Latvian writers, starting from the beginning of the 20th century, have tried to give a textual life to the humanist era in Livonia with various approaches to the historical novel thus creating a special set of texts to be called the Livonian text. Within the framework of this article, the view on the Livonian text consists of a review of 8 novels that have been written over more than a hundred years. They are not all texts on the subject but form a compact and representative sample in terms of theme, stylistics, and genre features. These texts are Andrievs Niedra’s (1871–1942) novel “When the Moon Wears Out” (Kad mēness dilst, 1902), Rutku Tēvs’s (1886–1961) “Rebellious Riga” (Dumpīgā Rīga, 1930) and “Mūksala Brothers” (Mūksalas brāļi, 1934), Astrīda Beināre’s (1937–2016) “Our Lady of Riga Monastery” (Rīgas Dievmātes klosteris, 1993), Aivars Kļavis’s (1953) tetralogy “Beyond the Gate” (Viņpus vārtiem), which consists of the novels “Jester of Adiaminde” (Adiamindes āksts, 2005), “Riga Humpback” (Rīgas kuprītis, 2007), “Ridiculed Soldier” (Piesmietais karavīrs, 2009), “Captives of the Traveling Circus” (Ceļojošā cirka gūstekņi, 2012).

THE RESEARCH OF THE ARMENIAN KIPCHAK LANGUAGE IN THE SCIENTIFIC ACHIEVEMENTS OF PROFESSOR EDWARD TRYJARSKI (1923-2021)
The Armenian Kipchak language is the language of the Polish Armenians inhabiting the former Polish eastern borderlands (mainly cities: Lwów, Kamieniec Podolski, Zamość). The time of the highest activity of this peculiar linguistic phenomenon includes the 16th and 17th centuries. Edward Tryjarski was an outstanding Polish orientalist who conducted research on this language which is also treated as a dialect or ethnolect. The purpose of the article is to present the scientific work of Professor Tryjarski connected just with this issue.

Introduction Allergic rhinitis concerns nearly 25% of the Polish population. Among pollen allergens, the most common reasons for allergic rhinitis are: grass, birch and mugwort. Knowledge of the characteristics of pollen seasons is necessary in diagnostics, monitoring of therapy and prevention of allergic rhinitis. Purpose This work aims to analyze the pollen seasons of the most commonly sensitizing plants in the Polish population; grass, birch and mugwort in the years 2003-2017 in Warsaw. Material and methods Measurements of pollen concentration were carried out using the Burkard volumetric apparatus operating in continuous volumetric mode. The analysis of pollen seasons was conducted based on the following characteristics: beginning, end, and length of season, annual sum of daily pollen concentrations, maximum daily concentration, number of days with maximum and threshold concentration. Linear regression together with the Pearson correlation coefficient were used in statistical analysis to study the relationship between variables; furthermore, descriptive characteristics of distributions studied were determined. Results The average date of the beginning of the birch pollen season in the analyzed period is April 10th, and it belongs to seasons of average length (47 days on average). Concentration above 75z/m3, when most allergic people expect allergic symptoms, was recorded for an average of 18 days. The highest daily concentration of birch pollen reaching 6321 grains/m3 (2006, 2012, 2016) exceeded the lowest value of the maximum concentration by almost 20 times (2015). Among the taxa analyzed, the highest values of daily concentration and annual sums were recorded for birch pollen. The average date for the beginning of grass pollination season is on May 13th. It is the longest pollen season (on average 134 days), and the period when concentration exceeded 50z/m3 covered an average of 26 days. The highest daily concentration of grass pollen reaching 496 grains/m3 (2005 and 2007) exceeded the lowest value of maximum concentration by 3.5 times (2016). The average date of the beginning of the brackish pollen season is July 16th. The season lasts 65 days on average, when concentration exceeding 30z/m3 was registered for an average of 12 days. The highest daily concentration of mugwort pollen reaching 154 grains/m3 (2007) exceeded the lowest value of maximum concentration by 4 times (2013). For all analyzed taxa, the strongest correlated variables are the annual sum of daily pollen concentrations (Seasonal Pollen Index) and daily maximum concentration (correlation for birch pollen = 0.92, for grass pollen = 0.88, and for mugwort pollen = 0.91) Conclusions Periods of pollen in the air show certain variation in the analyzed 15-year period. The maximum concentration in the pollen season for the analyzed taxa and the annual sum of daily concentrations of pollen show the highest variability, particularly strongly expressed in the case of birch pollen. There is a linear relationship between the annual sum of daily pollen concentrations and the maximum concentration value as well as the number of days with the threshold concentration for all analyzed taxa. Variability of parameters describing the dynamics of pollen seasons indicates the need to monitor, both by patients with hay fever and physicians, the current information about the concentration of pollen in the air during the pollen season.
