Resumen
e14595 Background: The PD-1 inhibitor Nivo and antiCTLA-4 Ipi in combination was registered by FDA and EMA for the treatment of metastatic melanoma. The accelerated approval of this indication was based on PFS data.OS data in previously untreated melanoma pts was reported only in the Phase II CheckMate 069 study. In the Nivo+Ipi group the 1YOS% was 73,4% and 63,8% at 2Y, in the Ipi group 1YOS% was 64,8%, 2YOS% was 53,6% at median follow up of 24,5 months. The median OS had not been reached, the outcome measures could not assess the long-term benefit of antitumor immun response. Methods: In order to measure the relative clinical values, we analyzed the 1Y, 2Y survival data and calculated the ARR (absolut risk reduction) and NNT values (the number of patients who need to be treated to prevent one death) of the Phase II CheckMate 069 trial Nivo+Ipi vs Ipi group, and the overall survival data in subgroup of pts who discontinued the immun-therapy due to treatment related AEs. We used GraphPad Software QuickCalcs/NNT for calculating the results of 95% CI. Results: In the CheckMate 069, the Nivo+Ipi group vs Ipi group ARR was 10,93, the NNT was 10(95%CI 3,6-17,8) at 1Y.The ARR was 13,19, the NNT value was 8(95%CI 3,3-24,1) at 2Y. 1 in every 8-10 pts will benefit from the Nivo+Ipi combined immuno-therapy in order to prevent one death. In the subgroup of patients (37%) who discontinued treatment, the ARR was 21,16 at 1Y and 21,76 at 2Y. Despite of discontinuation, 1 in every 5 pts will benefit from immuno-therapy at 1Y and 2Y, the NNT was 5 (95%CI 2,5-40,4) and 2Y (95%CI 2,3-127,2). Conclusions: These results of NNT 5-10 represent the exceptional survival benefit of combined immuno-therapy. The limitations of NNT bias the pts demographic parameters and the value depends on comparator drug. The risk reduction was not constant over the follow up time and the long term benefit of immuno-therapy is not linear. The NNT data provide measurement of relative clinical value and clinical impact.

Resumen
AbstractUsing second epi derivatives, we introduce a generalized second fundamental form for Lipschitzian hypersurfaces. In the case of a convex hypersurface, our approach leads back to the classical second fundamental form, which is usually obtained from the second fundamental forms of the outer parallel surfaces by means of a limit procedure.

Resumen
AbstractOur main result implies that for any choice 1 ≤ m ≤ n ≤ p of integers there exist finitary algebras A1 and A2 that generate the same variety, and such that the initial k-segments of their centralizer clones coincide exactly when k ≤ m, are isomorphic exactly when k ≤ n and are elementarily equivalent exactly when k ≤ p. The proof uses the existence and properties of disciplined topological spaces which we introduce and investigate here.

Resumen
Abstract In 1960, Sobolev proved that for a finite reflection group G, a G-invariant cubature formula is of degree t if and only if it is exact for all G-invariant polynomials of degree at most t . In this paper, we make some observations on invariant cubature formulas and Euclidean designs in connection with the Sobolev theorem. First, we give an alternative proof of theorems by Xu (1998) on necessary and sufficient conditions for the existence of cubature formulas with some strong symmetry. The new proof is shorter and simpler compared to the original one by Xu, and, moreover, gives a general interpretation of the analytically-written conditions of Xu's theorems. Second, we extend a theorem by Neumaier and Seidel (1988) on Euclidean designs to invariant Euclidean designs, and thereby classify tight Euclidean designs obtained from unions of the orbits of the corner vectors. This result generalizes a theorem of Bajnok (2007), which classifies tight Euclidean designs invariant under the Weyl group of type B, to other finite reflection groups.

Resumen
The administration of drugs or any substances in order to minimize the discomfort of the gestational period can compromise the good development of the new being in formation or even cause abortion. This study aimed to realize an integrative literature review on the prevalence of the use of medicinal plants by women during pregnancy. Between November 2019 and September 2020, a survey was performed in the Scielo database and in CAPES journals with the descriptors “medicinal plant during pregnancy”, “ethnobotany and pregnant women” and their correspondents in Portuguese: “planta medicinal durante a gravidez”; “etnobotanica e gestantes”. Among the articles published in the period from 2001 to 2020, 50 studies were appropriated in the inclusion and exclusion criteria being selected for this review. All studies (100%) were conducted through interviews. One of these studies is of a multinational character. The medicinal plants most commonly used by pregnant women are Lippia alba (lemongrass -79.5%), Peumus boldus Molina (boldo -41%), Pimpinella anisum (fennel -28%) and Matricaria recutita (chamomile -28%).

Resumen
AbstractMesaite (IMA2015-069), ideally (V2O7)3·12H2O, is a new mineral from the Packrat mine, Gateway district, Mesa County, Colorado, USA. Crystals of mesaite occur as orangish red blades up to 0.1 mm long and ∼10 μm thick. The streak is light pinkish orange and the lustre is vitreous, transparent. Mesaite has a brittle tenacity, {010} perfect cleavage; fracture is irregular, and no parting was observed. The mineral has a Mohs hardness ≈ 2. The measured density of mesaite is 2.74(1) g cm–3. Mesaite is biaxial (–), α = 1.760(calc), β = 1.780(5), γ = 1.795(5) in white light; the measured 2V value = 81(2)°. Dispersion is strong, r < v, and pleochroism is present in shades of brownish orange. Mesaite is monoclinic, P2/n, with a = 9.146(2), b = 10.424(3), c = 15.532(4) Å, β = 102.653(7)° and V = 1444.7(6) Å3. The strongest four diffraction lines in the powder diffraction pattern are [(dobs in Å, (Iobs), (hkl)]: 10.47 (100) (010), 2.881 (25) (132, 3̄12, 033, 310), 3.568 (24) (1̄14, 1̄23, 2̄13), 3.067 (17) (1̄24, 1̄32, 2̄23). The composition of mesaite was determined by electron microprobe, and yielded an empirical formula of Mn5.32Ca0.56Zn0.31V5.96As0.04O33H23.61 on the basis of 33 O atoms per formula unit (apfu). The atomic arrangement of mesaite was solved and refined to R1 = 0.0600. The structure is formed of zigzag octahedral chains of edge-sharing Mn2+O6 octahedra. Oxygen atoms of the octahedra are shared with V2O7 groups, which link with adjacent octahedral chains to form {010} heteropolyhedral layers. The interlayer region contains Ca atoms and H2O groups. Each Ca bonds to two O6 atoms in the heteropolyhedral layer and to two fully occupied and six partially occupied O (H2O) sites in the interlayer, resulting in an effective Ca coordination of approximately seven. Similar zigzag chains of edge-sharing MnO6 octahedra decorated with V2O7 groups are also found in the mineral fianelite. Mesaite has beenapproved by the Commission on New Minerals, Nomenclature and Classification of the International Mineralogical Association (IMA2015-069). The name mesaite is conferred for Mesa County, Colorado, USA.

Resumen
AbstractThe Oxylog, a portable breath-by-breath gas analyser, was used on seven animals to determine standing metabolic rate, energy cost of walking on soils of different consistencies and efficiency of work ploughing and carting. The average standing metabolic rate of animals was 5·63 (s.e. 0·12) W/kg M00·75. The consistency of the soil on which animals worked had a marked effect on their energy cost of walking which was 1·59 (s.e. 0·069) on unploughed soil, 2·15 (s.e. 0·084) on ploughed soil and 1·0 (s.e. 0·10) J/m per kg live weight on laterite tracks. The efficiency of ploughing sandy soils (i.e. ratio of work done to energy used for work) was 0·32 and was not significantly different from the efficiency of carting with different loads. The efficiency of doing work was not influenced by the type of work performed, the draught force exerted or the walking speed.

Resumen
Abstract The aim of this in vitro investigation was to evaluate the durability of storage phosphor plates (SPPs) as a digital dental imaging system and to detect the factors that may contribute to possible reduced durability. A total of 140 new SPPs were divided into groups and exposed to the effects of the various handling steps during the image acquisition. An additional group of plates joined the existing plates in the Radiology Clinic and tested the additive effect of all these factors plus the effect of positioning the plates in a patient's mouth. The images resulting from these SPPs were regularly evaluated for the appearance of scratches as a sign of wear and rated by an oral radiologist using a 6 point scale. Although the manufacturer claims the SPPs can be used indefinitely, we found 95% of our plates were rendered non-diagnostic after only 50 uses. The manufacturer's claim for indefinite use of the SPPs seems to be questionable. Citation Bedard A, Davis TD, Angelopoulos C. Resumen
We studied the associations of a difference in linoleic acid or carbohydrate intake with plasma cholesterol levels and risk of CHD in a prospective cohort study in the Netherlands. Data on diet (FFQ) and plasma total and HDL-cholesterol were available at baseline (1993–7) of 20 069 men and women, aged 20–65 years, who were initially free of CVD. Incidence of CHD was assessed through linkage with mortality and morbidity registers. During an average of 10 years of follow-up, 280 CHD events occurred. The intake of linoleic acid ranged from 3·6 to 8·0 % of energy (en%), whereas carbohydrate intake ranged from 47·6 to 42·5 en% across quintiles of linoleic acid intake. Linoleic acid intake was inversely associated with total cholesterol and HDL-cholesterol in women but not in men. Linoleic acid intake was not associated with the ratio of total to HDL-cholesterol. No association was observed between linoleic acid intake and CHD incidence, with hazard ratios varying between 0·83 and 1·00 (all P>0·05) compared to the bottom quintile. We conclude that a 4–5 en% difference in linoleic acid or carbohydrate intake did not translate into either a different ratio of total to HDL-cholesterol or a different CHD incidence.

Resumen
Abstract Due to technical limitations of methods used to study aberrant DNA hypermethylation, only a small numbers of promoters of empirically-selected genes have been investigated historically. Nevertheless, these studies demonstrated that aberrant methylation constitutes an important pathophysiologic mechanism of malignant evolution in MDS and AML. Novel methods utilizing genomic arrays allow for analysis of very large number of CpG islands and establishment of disease or tissues specific methylomes. In this study we hypothesized that a concordant methylation patterns exist that characterize hematopoietic progenitor and stem cells and genome-wide analysis of methylation patterns will allow for identification of a stem cell methylome that is distinct from that found in leukemia. To investigate this, chromatin immunoprecipitation promoter array-based profiling (ChIP-DSL 20,000 promoter array, Aviva Systems Biology) was used to identify genomewide methylated promoters in CD34 cells. We first sought to identify the normal stem cell methylome, using a pooled set of purified CD34 cells. We identified a relatively small set of 534 hypermethylated promoters (2.7% of genes analyzed with a cutoff of 2.6-fold methylation enrichment). Cytoskeleton remodeling, transcription regulation and nucleotide catabolism genes were significantly overrepresented (p=4.2E−5, p=2.2E−4, P=3.6E−3, Benjamini correction [BC] p=.008; p=.016; p=.069, respectively, using the DAVID database). When pooled CD34 cells were treated with decitabine; hypomethylation of 195 previously methylated genes (37%) was observed. The hypomethylated genes primarily functioned in basic metabolic processes (p=1.1E−4) and DNA repair/replication (p=3.0E−5). Subsequently, we analyzed triplicate samples of both immortalized AML cell lines (UT7, TF1, U937, HL60, KG1, K562 and Kazumi) and primary AML cells. Globally, the prevalence of hypermethylated sites in AML was infrequent: on average 2.8% or 552±181 of CpG islands were hypermethylated in cell lines compared to CD34 cells. Only 2431 (12%) promoters were hypermethylated in any AML cell line. Functional classification of hypermethylated genes showed that these genes were significantly enriched for cell development/differentiation (p=4.1E−5, BC p=.069), transcription regulation (p=4.8E−5, BC p=.027) and apoptosis (p=.01, BC p=.78) The methylation signature across several AML cell lines was variable: 115 genes were concordantly hypermethylated across the 7 cell lines and showed preponderance of transcription factor promoters (p=.0073) ); however, a functionally cancer-specific pattern was not obvious, suggesting that the establishment of phenotype in individual AML cell lines results from unique methylation events. Decitabine treatment of Kasumi cells resulted in hypomethylation of 75 genes involved in terminal differentiation (p=8.1E−4), transcription regulation (p=1.5E−2) and proliferation (p=4.3E−2). Analysis of the methylation pattern in AML patients produced similar results; 117 genes were concordantly hypermethylated in at least 60% of AML patients and were involved in mRNA transcription (p=.00073), leukocyte regulation (p=.007) and the Wnt signaling pathway (p=.01). Concordant hypermethylation of genes within Wnt pathways suggests involvement in leukemic evolution. In conclusion, the AML methylome is characterized by a highly variable hypermethylation of genes with consistent cellular functions including transcription, cell differentiation, apoptosis and leukocyte regulation.

SUMMARYThe objective of this study was to evaluate the effect of age-adjusted comorbidity and alcohol-based hand rub on monthly hospital antibiotic usage, retrospectively. A multivariate autoregressive integrated moving average (ARIMA) model was built to relate the monthly use of all antibiotics grouped together with age-adjusted comorbidity and alcohol-based hand rub over a 5-year period (April 2005–March 2010). The results showed that monthly antibiotic use was positively related to the age-adjusted comorbidity index (concomitant effect, coefficient 1·103, P = 0·0002), and negatively related to the use of alcohol-based hand rub (2-month delay, coefficient −0·069, P = 0·0533). Alcohol-based hand rub is considered a modifiable factor and as such can be identified as a target for quality improvement programmes. Time-series analysis may provide a suitable methodology for identifying possible predictive variables that explain antibiotic use in healthcare settings. Future research should examine the relationship between infection control practices and antibiotic use, identify other infection control predictive factors for hospital antibiotic use, and evaluate the impact of enhancing different infection control practices on antibiotic use in a healthcare setting.

Resumen
ObjectivesThis study examined predictors of lung cancer mortality, beyond age and smoking, among construction workers employed at US Department of Energy (DOE) sites to better define eligibility for low-dose CT (LDCT) lung cancer screening.MethodsPredictive models were based on 17 069 workers and 352 lung cancer deaths. Risk factors included age, gender, race/ethnicity, cigarette smoking, years of trade or DOE work, body mass index (BMI), chest X-ray results, spirometry results, respiratory symptoms, beryllium sensitisation and personal history of cancer. Competing risk Cox models were used to obtain HRs and to predict 5-year risks.ResultsFactors beyond age and smoking included in the final predictive model were chest X-ray changes, abnormal lung function, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), respiratory symptoms, BMI, personal history of cancer and having worked 5 or more years at a DOE site or in construction. Risk-based LDCT eligibility demonstrated improved sensitivity, specificity and positive predictive value compared with current US Preventive Services Task Force guidelines. The risk of lung cancer death from 5 years of work in the construction industry or at a DOE site was comparable with the risk from a personal cancer history, a family history of cancer or a diagnosis of COPD. LDCT eligibility criteria used for DOE construction workers, which includes factors beyond age and smoking, identified 86% of participants who eventually would die from lung cancer compared with 51% based on age and smoking alone.ConclusionsResults support inclusion of risk from occupational exposures and non-malignant respiratory clinical findings in LDCT clinical guidelines.

Resumen
The present study reports the Na intake of a representative sample of Spanish young and middle-aged adults aged 18–60 years (n418, 53·1 % women, selected from the capitals of fifteen provinces and the surrounding semi-urban/rural area), measured with a 24 h urinary Na excretion method. To validate the paper collection of 24 h urine, the correlation between fat-free mass determined by electrical bioimpedance (50·8 (sd11·3) kg) and that determined via urinary creatinine excretion (51·5 (sd18·8) kg) was calculated (r0·633,P < 0·001). Urinary Na excretion correlated with systolic and dyastolic blood pressure data (r0·243 and 0·153, respectively). Assuming that all urinary Na (168·0 (sd78·6) mmol/d) comes from the diet, Na excretion would correspond with a dietary salt intake of 9·8 (sd4·6) g/d, and it would mean that 88·2 % of the subjects had salt intakes above the recommended 5 g/d. Logistic regression analysis, adjusted for sex, age and BMI, showed male sex (OR 3·678, 95 % CI 2·336, 5·791) and increasing BMI (OR 1·069, 95 % CI 1·009, 1·132) (P < 0·001) to be associated with excreting >200 mmol/d urinary Na – a consequence of the higher salt intake in men and in participants with higher BMI. The present results help us to know the baseline salt intake in the Spanish young and middle-aged adult population, and can be used as the baseline to design policies to reduce salt consumption.

Resumen
Purpose:To compare the effects of a standardized endurance-training program with individualized endurance training modified based on the cumulative training load provided by the Polar training-load feature. Methods:After 12 wk of similar training, 24 recreationally endurance-trained men were matched to a training-load-guided (TL, n = 10) or standardized (ST, n = 14) group and continued training for 12 wk. In TL, training sessions were individually chosen daily based on an estimated cumulative training load, whereas in ST the training was standardized with 4–6 sessions/wk. Endurance performance (shortest 1000-m running time during an incremental field test of 6 × 1000 m) and heart-rate variability (HRV) were measured every 4 wk, and maximal oxygen consumption (VO2max) was measured during an incremental treadmill test every 12 wk.Results:During weeks 1–12, similar changes in VO2max and 1000-m time were observed in TL (+7% ± 4%, P = .004 and –6% ± 4%, P = .069) and ST (+5% ± 7%, P = .019 and –8% ± 5%, P < .001). During wk 13–24, VO2max statistically increased in ST only (3% ± 4%, P = .034). The 1000-m time decreased in TL during wk 13–24 (–9% ± 5%, P = .011), but in ST only during wk 13–20 (–3% ± 2%, P = .003). The overall changes in VO2max and 1000-m time during wk 0–24 were similar in TL (+7% ± 4%, P = .001 and –9% ± 5%, P = .011) and ST (+10% ± 7%, P < .001 and –13% ± 5%, P < .001). No between-groups differences in total training volume and frequency were observed. HRV remained statistically unaltered in both groups. Conclusions:The main finding was that training performed according to the cumulative training load led to improvements in endurance performance similar to those with standardized endurance training in recreational endurance runners.

Resumen
Previous studies have suggested that daidzein's metabolites, equol andO-desmethylangolensin (O-DMA), rather than daidzein itself may contribute to the beneficial effects of soya foods in the prevention of CVD. The present study aims to assess the proportion of equol andO-DMA producers, and to compare differences in anthropometric factors, serum lipids, glucose and uric acid between producers and non-producers in Chinese adults aged 20–69 years. For the present cross-sectional study, 202 subjects (100 women and 102 men) were recruited. Twenty-four-hour urinary daidzein and its metabolites were determined in these subjects while on their usual diet and again after a 3-d isoflavone challenge. Fasting serum lipids, glucose and uric acid were examined on their usual diet. Three days of 24 h dietary recalls were used to assess dietary intakes. Of the 202 subjects, 27 (13·4 %) and 27 (13·4 %) excreted equol andO-DMA on their usual diet, and 101 (50 %) and 94 (46·5 %) produced equol andO-DMA after a load of 80 mg/d isoflavones. Equol producers showed lower serum uric acid ( − 10·2 %,P = 0·001), TAG ( − 29·5 %,P = 0·007) and waist:hip ratio ( − 2·6 %,P = 0·032), and tended to have higher HDL cholesterol (6·3 %,P = 0·069) compared with equol non-producers. There were no significant differences in serum lipids, glucose and uric acid betweenO-DMA producers and non-producers. In conclusion, equol phenotypes might influence cardiovascular risk.

Resumen
AbstractObjectiveTo identify generational differences in the dietary patterns of Brazilian adults born between 1934 and 1975.DesignA cross-sectional study from the baseline of the multicentre Brazilian Longitudinal Study of Adult Health (ELSA-Brasil) cohort. Year of birth was categorized into three birth generations: Traditionalists (born between 1934 and 1945); Baby Boomers (born between 1946 and 1964); and Generation X (born between 1965 and 1975). Food consumption was investigated using an FFQ. Latent class analysis (LCA) was used to identify data-driven dietary patterns.SettingBrazil.SubjectsIndividuals (n 15 069) aged 35–74 years.ResultsA three-class model was generated from the LCA for each birth generation. Generation X presented higher energy intakes (kJ/kcal) from soft drinks (377·4/90·2) and sweets (1262·3/301·7) and lower energy intakes from fruit (1502·5/359·1) and vegetables (311·3/74·4) than Baby Boomers (283·7/67·8, 1047·7/250·4, 1756·0/419·7 and 365·3/87·3, respectively) and Traditionalists (186·2/44·5, 518·8/124·0, 1947·7/465·5 and 404·6/96·7, respectively). For Baby Boomers and Generation X, we found food patterns with similar structures: mixed pattern (22·7 and 29·7 %, respectively), prudent pattern (43·5 and 34·9 %, respectively) and processed pattern (33·8 and 35·4 %, respectively). Among Traditionalists, we could also identify mixed (30·9 %) and prudent (21·8 %) patterns, and a third pattern, named restricted dietary pattern (47·3 %).ConclusionsThe younger generation presented higher frequencies of consuming a pattern characterized by a low nutritional diet, compared with other generations, indicating that they may age with a greater burden of chronic diseases. It is important to develop public health interventions promoting healthy foods, focusing on the youngest generations.

Resumen
Background:This meta-analysis study aims to assess the efficacy of school-based and after-school intervention programs on the BMIs of child and adolescents, addressing the correlation between some moderating variables. Methods:We analyzed 52 studies (N = 28,236) published between 2000–2011.Results:The overall effect size was 0.068 (P < .001), school (r = .069) and after-school intervention (r = .065). Programs conducted with children aged between 15–19 years were the most effective (r = .133). Interventions programs with boys and girls show better effect sizes (r = .110) than programs that included just girls (r = .073). There were no significant differences between the programs implemented in school and after-school (P = .770). The effect size was higher in interventions lasting 1 year (r = .095), with physical activity and nutritional education (r = .148), and that included 3–5 sessions of physical activity per week (r = .080). The effect size also increased as the level of parental involvement increased. Conclusions:Although of low magnitude (r = .068), the intervention programs had a positive effect in prevention and decreasing obesity in children. This effect seems to be higher in older children’s, involving interventions with physical activity and nutritional education combined, with parent’s participation and with 1-year duration. School or after-school interventions had a similar effect.

Resumen
ABSTRACT Binary supermassive black hole (SMBH) systems result from galaxy mergers, and will eventually coalesce due to gravitational wave (GW) emission if the binary separation can be reduced to ≲0.1 pc by other mechanisms. Here, we explore a gravitational self-lensing binary SMBH model for the sharp (duration ∼1 h), quasi-regular X-ray flares – dubbed quasi-periodic eruptions – recently observed from two low-mass active galactic nuclei: GSN 069 and RX J1301.9+2747. In our model, the binary is observed ∼edge-on, such that each SMBH gravitationally lenses light from the accretion disc surrounding the other SMBH twice per orbital period. The model can reproduce the flare spacings if the current eccentricity of RX J1301.9+2747 is ϵ0 ≳ 0.16, implying a merger within ∼1000 yr. However, we cannot reproduce the observed flare profiles with our current calculations. Model flares with the correct amplitude are ∼2/5 the observed duration, and model flares with the correct duration are ∼2/5 the observed amplitude. Our modelling yields three distinct behaviours of self-lensing binary systems that can be searched for in current and future X-ray and optical time-domain surveys: (i) periodic lensing flares, (ii) partial eclipses (caused by occultation of the background mini-disc by the foreground mini-disc), and (iii) partial eclipses with a very sharp in-eclipse lensing flare. Discovery of such features would constitute very strong evidence for the presence of a supermassive binary, and monitoring of the flare spacings will provide a measurement of periastron precession.

Resumen
Arid and semiarid regions are vulnerable to water deficits and salinity. Citrus plants are sensitive to saline stress and require the use of tolerant scion-rootstock combinations. Thus, this study aimed to evaluate and classify citrus scion-rootstock combinations with respect to their tolerance to salinity during seedling formation in a protected environment. An experiment was conducted in a randomized block design with a 5 x 12 x 2 factorial scheme corresponding to five levels of water salinity (0.8, 1.6, 2.4, 3.2, and 4.0 dS m-1) applied in 12 citrus rootstocks grafted with two scion varieties: ‘Tahiti’ acid lime and ‘Star Ruby’ grapefruit. The scion-rootstock combinations were evaluated for accumulated dry matter and survival index at 330 days after sowing the rootstocks. Salinity exerted different effects on the dry matter formation of scion-rootstock combinations. ‘Star Ruby’ was less sensitive to salinity, particularly when the rootstocks were the hybrids from ‘Sunki of Florida’ mandarin (TSKFL) with ‘Troyer’ citrange (CTTR) – 013 (TSKFL x CTTR – 013), common ‘Sunki’ mandarin (TSKC) with ‘Argentina’ citrange (CTARG) – 019 (TSKC x CTARG – 019), TSKC with ‘Swingle’ citrumelo (CTSW) – 031 (TSKC x CTSW – 031), and the trifoliate hybrid (HTR) - 069, as well as the varieties Volkamer lemon and Santa Cruz Rangpur lime. When grafted with ‘Tahiti’ acid lime, the rootstocks displaying the less sensitive to salinity were TSKFL x CTTR - 013 and TSKC x CTARG - 019.

Resumen
AbstractPurposeThe aim of this study is to establish clinical evidence regarding the use of magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) in target volume definition for radiotherapy treatment planning of brain tumours.MethodsPrimary studies were systematically retrieved from six electronic databases and other sources. Studies included were only those that quantitatively compared computed tomography (CT) and MRI in target volume definition for radiotherapy of brain tumours. Study characteristics and quality were assessed and the data were extracted from eligible studies. Effect estimates for each study was computed as mean percentage difference based on individual patient data where available. The included studies were then combined in meta-analysis using Review Manager (RevMan) software version 5.0.ResultFive studies with a total number of 72 patients were included in this review. The quality of the studies was rated strong. The percentages mean differences of the studies were 7·47, 11·36, 30·70, 41·69 and −24·6% using CT as the baseline. The result of statistical analysis showed small-to-moderate heterogeneity; τ2=36·8; χ2=6·23; df=4 (p=0·18); I2=36%. The overall effect estimate was −1·85 [95% confidence interval (CI); −7·24, 10·94], Z=0·40 (p=0·069>0·5).ConclusionBrain tumour volumes measured using MRI-based method for radiotherapy treatment planning were larger compared with CT defined volumes but the difference lacks statistical significance.

Resumen
Purpose To select one of two chemoradiotherapy regimens for locally advanced squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) of the head and neck as the experimental arm for the next Trans-Tasman Radiation Oncology Group phase III trial. Patients and Methods One hundred twenty-two previously untreated patients with stage III/IV SCC of the head and neck were randomized to receive definitive radiotherapy (70 Gy in 7 weeks) concurrently with either cisplatin (75 mg/m2) plus tirapazamine (290 mg/m2/d) on day 2 of weeks 1, 4, and 7, and tirapazamine alone (160 mg/m2/d) on days 1, 3, and 5 of weeks 2 and 3 (TPZ/CIS), or cisplatin (50 mg/m2) on day 1 and infusional fluorouracil (360 mg/m2/d) on days 1 through 5 of weeks 6 and 7 (chemoboost). Results Three-year failure-free survival rates were 55% with TPZ/CIS (95% CI, 39% to 70%) and 44% with chemoboost (95% CI, 30% to 60%; log-rank P = .16). Three-year locoregional failure-free rates were 84% in the TPZ/CIS arm (95% CI, 71% to 92%) and 66% in the chemoboost arm (95% CI, 51% to 79%; P = .069). More febrile neutropenia and grade 3 or 4 late mucous membrane toxicity were observed with TPZ/CIS, while acute skin radiation reaction was more severe and prolonged with chemoboost. Compliance with protocol treatment was satisfactory on both arms. Conclusion Both regimens are feasible and are associated with significant but acceptable toxicity profiles in the cooperative group setting. Based on the promising efficacy seen in this trial, TPZ/CIS is being evaluated in a large phase III trial.

Resumen
AbstractObjectiveThe Mediterranean diet (MD) pattern has important health benefits; however, it seems that Spanish school-aged children have been abandoning this healthy pattern recently. We aimed to identify psychopathological, anthropometric and sociodemographic factors that may influence the risk of low MD adherence.DesignLongitudinal study in three phases. MD adherence was assessed using the Krece Plus food questionnaire and psychopathological symptoms using the Screen for Childhood Anxiety Related Emotional Disorders, Children’s Depression Inventory, Youth’s Inventory-4 and Eating Disorder Inventory-2. Anthropometric data were collected in the first and third phases.SettingsAll five representative areas in Reus, Spain.SubjectsAdolescents (n241).ResultsRegardless of past and current BMI, socio-economic status was a protective factor for low MD adherence (OR=0·805,P=0·003) and a risk factor for high BMI (OR=0·718,P=0·002; OR=0·707,P=0·001). Regardless of socio-economic status, depression was involved with risk of low adherence (OR=1·069,P=0·021). Girls with lower MD adherence presented significantly higher scores for eating disorders measured using the Eating Disorder Inventory-2 (low adherence, mean 18·9 (sd13·5); high adherence, mean 8·9 (sd9·0),P=0·020) and the Youth Inventory-4 (low adherence, mean 5·2 (sd4·3); medium adherence, mean 3·6 (sd3·2),P=0·044). They also presented higher depression symptoms (low adherence, mean 17·7 (sd9·6); medium adherence, mean 12·3 (sd7·2),P=0·01) than girls with high adherence.ConclusionsThe results highlight the influence of psychosocial factors on levels of MD adherence. These factors need to be taken into account when developing prevention and health promotion initiatives.

Resumen
Micropropagation is a method that enables in vitro cloning of cultivated plants, irrespective of their potential to produce seeds and their polyembryony rate, guaranteeing genetic identity and absence of phytosanitary problems of the propagated plants if the multiplication process is conducted suitably. In this respect, citrus rootstocks of agronomic interest were micropropagated in Wood Plant Medium (WPM). The experiment was conducted in the municipality of Cruz das Almas, in the Recôncavo Baiano region of Bahia state, Brazil, with 10 rootstocks: ‘Indio’, ‘Riverside’ and ‘San Diego’ citrandarins, ‘Sunki Tropical’ mandarin, and the hybrids RL × TR-001, FRL × (RL × TR)-005, CSM × (RL × TR)-059, TRH-051, TRH-069 and CSM × TRBK-Colombia. Nodal segments of these genotypes, with approximate length of 1 cm, were used. The number of plants formed per explant was evaluated 180 days after inoculation. The experimental design was completely randomized, with ten treatments and 12 repetitions, the data obtained were submitted to analysis of variance (F-test) and the grouped means were analyzed by the Scott-Knott test, in both cases a 5% probability. In vitro culture of explants of the ten genotypes studied presented positive responses to micropropagation in the WPM medium, once the explants of all genotypes showed direct regeneration and formed plants. The citrandarin 'Indio' he stood out with the highest average of explants by plant (4.20).

Resumen
Globally, anxiety diseases are the mental health concerns that increase the mortality and morbidity. Anxiety sensitivity (AS) refers to the tendency of individuals to fear anxiety-related symptoms due to the belief that these symptoms may have destructive consequences. A cross-sectional study was conducted to validate ASI-16 on a non-psychiatric sample of 90 recruited students from the University of Rwanda. The recruited participants were aged 19 to 37 years old [(Mean age (M=23.9, SD = 3.69)]. The findings confirmed a good internal consistence (Cronbach’s Alpha, α= 0.83). The results revealed the ASI-16 criterion related convergent validity of ASI-16 (r=.59; p=.000; ASI and STAI) and criterion related concurrent validity (r=.069; p=.51; ASI and BDI). Using factor analysis, the findings showed an overlapping of physical, psychological and social aspects attesting that ASI is one-dimensional tool assessing anxiety symptoms. More than a quarter (1/4) of items seemed to assess all three factors of ASI; this attested that there were interconnections between physical, psychological or cognitive and social aspects. The participants who scored highly were considered to have the anxiety symptoms. In the present sample, the t-test was computed to compare males and females on the ASI-16 total scores and showed that there was no significant difference at 5% level [(Mean of males=29.3, Mean of females=29.57), t (26.176) at p=.000]. The results confirmed that ASI-16 seems to be valid and reliable to screen anxiety symptoms in a Rwandan sample. ASI’s norms should be constructed on the Rwandan population.

Resumen
Background Endograft dislocation in thoracic aorta has not been widely studied. Objectives The purpose of this study is to analyze the incidence and predisposing factor in a single centre experience after 117 procedures.Method Between November 2000 and December 2011, all consecutive patients undergoing endovascular repair for descending thoracic or thoraco-abdominal aortic disease were identified. Follow-up imaging protocol included triple-phase CT-angiography at 1, 4, and 12 months, and annually thereafter. Migration was defined as proximal/ distal movements >10 mm relative to anatomical landmarks or any movement leading to symptoms or reintervention.Result We identified 117 patients. Mean follow-up was 32 months (range, 1-144). Overall, five (4.3%) patients with thoracic EG dislocation were identified. Dislocation was classified as collapse/infolding in 3 cases and migration in 2. Mean delay of the dislocation was 12.7 months. Only one patient developed symptoms and required an additional endograft. In the group of dislocated endografts, mean age (53 ± 20 vs. 68 ± 15, P = .032) and the diameter of the aortic lesion were lower (4.1cm ± 1.6 vs. 5.6cm ± 1.8, P = .069), and the proximal landing zone at “zones 2 and 3” were more frequently used (5 vs. 65, P = 0.81). All but one patient with collapse/infolding are still alive and doing well at a mean follow-up of 80 months. Conclusion Dislocation is an infrequent complication, but not so rare. Young age, small aortic diameter , and proximal sealing at the distal arch were the most important data associated with this complication.Kathmandu University Medical Journal Vol.12(2) 2014: 97-100

Abstract Aim The purpose of this study was to evaluate the fracture resistance of endodontically treated maxillary central incisors restored with quartz fiber posts, composite cores, and crowns when different types of ferrule designs were incorporated. Methods and Materials Sixty maxillary incisors were divided into six groups: Group 1 (control): teeth with root canal treatments having a full crown prosthesis; Group 2: teeth with a 2 mm circumferential ferrule; Group 3: teeth with a 2 mm ferrule only in the vestibular region; Group 4: teeth with a 2 mm ferrule only in the palatal region; Group 5: teeth with a 2 mm ferrule in the vestibular and palatal region, having cavities in both proximal areas; and Group 6: teeth with no ferrule. The teeth in the experimental groups were restored with quartz fiber posts-composite cores and full metallic crowns. All experimental teeth were subjected to an increasing compressive force with a crosshead speed of 1 mm/min, until fracture occurred. Results The median fracture values of groups were as follows: Group 1: 574.4 N, Group 2: 472.4 N, Group 3: 474.3 N, Group 4: 480.7 N, Group 5: 463.1 N, and Group 6: 297.9 N. A statistically significant difference was found between Group 1 and Group 6 (p< 0.01). Conclusion It was concluded different ferrule designs did not have any influence on the fracture resistance of teeth with fiber posts. The results of this study indicate fiber posts can safely be used for their reinforcing properties. Furthermore, there is no significant change in the resistance of teeth with fiber posts regardless of which ferrule design is incorporated. The property of these types of posts is an additional advantage in clinical practice. Citation Dikbas I, Tanalp J, Ozel E, Koksal T, Ersoy M.
