The aim of the thesis is a description and characterization of the most important impacts and effects which are associated with the renewal of monument. The renewal has a huge impact on the monument itself. It is a way how to preserve the existence of monument for the future. When the monument is integrated again into a contemporary community, it brings new economic benefits which give the monument a new sense of being and give it the chance to be conserved and protected for next generations. This new economic role of the monument has to be considered only with the respect to its historical and artistic value. The existence of monument affects also its surroundings in many ways. Monument has an obvious impact on landscape, the view of horizon and also influences the quality of life of people living in the vicinity. Monument can enrich leisure time of local people or turists. It can be also the key factor for developing of tourism, incoming investments and prosperity of this locality. Monument could not be considered in isolation of its surroundings because it creates together a complex which influences the monument, and on the other hand, which is influenced by the monument.

The thesis deals with everydayness of socialism demonstrated on the selected village Bedrichov which is situated in the borderland between Liberec and Jablonec nad Nisou, two important towns of the Liberec region. In the thesis, there is compared the crucial period of socialism (from 1948 to 1989) with the era before the World War II and with the time period after 1989. Oral history which is a specific form of qualitative research method is used for gathering information about world, people and their lives. The first section of the paper describes the theoretical concepts used for studying of everydayness, memories and border regions. In this part is also presented and analyzed the result of the existing research of everydayness in socialism. The main section of the thesis consists of my own research and is divided into individual topics which reflect everyday life as percepted by people living in Bedrichov.

The diploma thesis deals with the education and traditions in the municipality of Horní Střítež in a comprehensive context. It presents an image of rural life and factors influencing the development of the village and contemporary life of the residents. Alongside principal education concepts, the thesis draws on an extensive context of findings from other academic disciplines. The first part of the thesis describes the historical context of the events that shaped the development of the municipality. Chapters mapping, in more detail, the current events, with particular emphasis on the role of education in the rural family and in the community, the school system and leisure time follow, highlighting the benefits of the traditional conception of life in the country. Theoretical and methodological aspects as well as the ethical aspect are relevant in the application of the qualitative research method. POST-WAR DEVELOPMENT AND DAILY LIFE IN LIDICE (memories of Lidice residents of reverent memorials and a life in the village) Author deals with post-war development of Lidice since 1945 to 1989 with certain enjambment to years to come.Thesis tries to show, which way Lidice were exploited by communist regime to socialism propaganda and how it reflected in lives of Lidice residents. Author describes and assesses construction of new village together tied up with cooperating organizations, particularly Society for Lidice reconstruction a British movement Lidice Shall Live founded by Sir Barnett Stross. Author concetrates on Barnett Stross more closely concerning the fact author has contacted his family in Great Britain, where she has obtained memories on founder of new Lidice. Secondly, diplomate concentrates on life in new Lidice and perception of reverent memories and life of Lidice residents. Primarily, memories of narrators became main source base, which she has acquired and processed by oral history method. The submitted diploma work "Power and Powerlessness" - Emanuel Rádl on the intellectual's responsibility for a life in polis addresses the fundamental questions articulated by the philosophy of one of the most interesting and controversial proponents of Czech philosophical thinking during the first half of the 20th century. The author presents Emanuel Rádl's life and work on the background of the era of laborious formation of a modern society in the independent Czechoslovak Republic, in opposition to the thoughts and approach of the principal polit ical personality and source of inspiration for Czech philosophers of the ment ioned era - T. G. Masaryk. The classical topics of social philosophy, ethics and the philosophy of religion, which have traditionally occupied a dominant place in Czech thinking, resonate in E. Rádl's interpretation with the dramatic events of modern European history, go beyond the scope of local philosophising to culminate in the tragic discourse on the intellectual's responsibility towards the polis when the values of European humanistic heritage are threatened, and in reflection on philosophy's power and powerlessness when faced with the menace of fascism.

The topic of this diploma thesis is a cultural life in small spa towns, specifically presented on a case study of town Lázně Toušeň. In the theoretical part of the thesis the topic is incorporated into urban sociology and the thesis focuses on questions such as what is the difference between a city and a village, are there any transitional areas and what kind of urbanization processes can occur in the countryside. In the second chapter of the theoretical part the main focus of the thesis lies with spas, their history and cultural specifics. In the empirical part, the case study itself, the thesis looks into the town of Lázně Toušeň and its spa, specifically on the cultural life in the town between the years 1968 - 1989. The study focuses on topics such as what is the difference between cultural and community life in the town during normalization period and present day and how are they influenced by the specifics of Toušeň. The study also covers the topics of daily life in the spa, the organizational and financial side of the cultural events or the role of the "cultural officers". The Social Life of the Karaim Community of Lutsk in the Interwar Period (1919-1939) Of the four Karaite communities lying within the borders of newly independent Poland the Lutsk community was the smallest. However, it was here that efforts to preserve the Karaim language and identity were most intense. The writer and editor A. Mardkowicz and the poet S. Rudkowski strove to preserve the Karaim language and strengthen ethnic self-identity. In this thesis the author endeavored to explain the background to this cultural eudaimonia in Lutsk: the demographic and legal status of the community, its spiritual and cultural life, relations with the non-Karaite environment, and its assets. The thesis focuses on the issue of the impact of sport, recreation and weekend housing on the shape and development of the village, which is directly related to these activities and is located in a protected landscape area. My subject of interest is the specific village of Bedřichov in the Jizera Mountains. This area has been struggling in recent years with the influxt of athletes and those interested in weekend living, who mainly run cross-country skiing. Bedřichov has to adapt to this onslaught and find solutions to be a pleasant place not only for athletes and tourists, but also a pleasant place for everyday life. This thesis takes the form of a case study and the main aim is not only to present the problem in a comprehensive way but also to show how the interests of sport and everyday life in the village are balanced. The first input is the assumption that this municipality is able to balance these interests. Analysis of research data shows that these efforts have been relatively successful so far, but balancing these interests is becoming increasingly difficult. Title: The role of the civic organizations in the life of the small municipalities Objectives: The main objective is to evaluate the relationship between civil society organizations and representatives of public administration in terms of their common aspiration to build cohesion in the former Association of Municipalities Neveklovsko. Defunct micro-region is also subject to consideration of future similar institutions. Methods: This multi-case study is based on analysis of data collected in selected community association Neveklovsko. The project will also draw information from public printed materials. This project will be based on semi-structured interviews with the mayors of municipalities and chosen representatives of civic associations. Results: We found that all municipalities of examined micro-region realize the importance and interest groups in the villages. Municipalities are trying to make these voluntary organizations to promote and ensure better social life of the inhabitants. Recently, the municipalities of the former micro-region worked together again in the celebrations of the 70th anniversary of the eviction of Neveklovsko. Recreating of micro-region is not in a sight. Any municipalities do not agree with the financing and therefore they have no further interest in this integration....

The civic participation is an active approach of the citizen who has possibility of using more or less formalized tools to influence public affairs. This diploma thesis "Citizens participation in the town life on a case study in Mnichovice" will deal with civic participation in a small town close to Prague - Mnichovice. The level of participation will be analyzed by the OECD (information, consultation, active participation) town hall uses, what factors influence participation rates, what motivates people to engage in participation and what discourages vice versa and which particular forms of cooperation with citizens are effective for local public administration. The theoretical part of this diploma thesis deals with the historical development of civil participation in decision making processes, analyzes legislation of the Czech Republic to describe the theoretical participation and engagement in different types of participation in the various approaches and finally explores options of participation in a small town with 3200 residents, which is located in the suburbia of Prague, 30 km south-east from the center of the capitol city. Using the example of the inhabitants of Sudoměřice, a predominantly Catholic village in South Moravia, this thesis examines the relationship of the non-privileged strata members to the manifestations of political power in the period from the end of World War II until about 1990. The main sources are oral history interviews with 13 local citizens. The local chronicle is also an important source. It appears that the power (domination, using Weber's term), which is the Communist Party of Czechoslovakia (CPC) for most of the period examined, takes on a number of different forms in memories, not only depending on the period, but also on the bearers of memories and other circumstances. For example, even some people whose families were persecuted during the Stalinist period have quite different recollections of the local CPC officials in the 1950s and their successors in the 1970s or 1980s. The topic is the question of faith, but also the standard of living. Emphasis is placed on the key moments of "great" history, such as 1945, 1948, 1968 and 1989. This thesis also aims to contribute to the discussion of how the communist regime could hold on for so long. This thesis deals with the evaluation of the quality of life in rural communities in the Region of Prachatice. The thesis is also focused on the evaluation of the economic weakness of the municipalities, its causes and manifestations, and, at least, the possibility of improving life in these communities. An integral part of this work is finding those sources of funding and the related use of funds and grants. In the theoretical part, I have discussed the importance of the regional and social policy focusing on rural issues and their development, with the development of the regions linked to the use of subsidies and the disbursement of funds, especially funds of the European Union. In the practical part, contingency tables and cluster analysis are used, as well as special methods. The results of this study has confirmed that quality of life in LFA municipalities and their economic weakness depends on the size of the village. The conclusion provides an overall assessment of the work and its results.

This dissertation deals with the impact of the agricultural enterprise ZEMPO VOS a.s on the employment and the quality of life in the town Strunkovice nad Blanicí in the period from 1950 to 2013. The main aim was to map out the employment in the town of Strunkovice nad Blanicí including the description of the head employer, the agricultural enterprise in last 60 years in detail. The combination of qualitative and quantitative methods was used to reach the aim. Particularly the study of historical documents, operating data of the agricultural enterprise, interviews with the mayor and with chairman of the board of directors of the holding and questionnaire for inhabitants and for employees. Next was evaluated the financial situation of the holding using selected economic indicators and based on SWOT analysis were identified the strengths and the weaknesses, opportunities and threats. The conclusion outlines the set of certain socio-technical recommendations for stabilization, competitiveness and development of the ZEMPO-VOS a.s. Strunkovice nad Blanicí in the way, that in the future this holding will bring the career opportunities for people living in Strunkovice nad Blanicí.

The development of the border municipality Rozvadov since 1948 and its consecutive transformation after the year 1989 entailed two significant antipodes regarding the existence of the municipality as well as the lives of its inhabitants. In this master thesis, I tried the to capture the lifetime of the municipality before 1989 and its relatively substantial transformation in the era after the Velvet Revolution. This transformation is still under way. I use the oral history interviews with 17 vernacular narrators as a primary source. In the first part of the thesis, I observe the after-war resettlement of the researched area, the organizing of the border security policy and also the life in the direct vicinity of the "Iron Curtain" as it was perceived by the inhabitants. The second part of the thesis is first of all focused on the social transformation of the municipality and the concomitent effects following the change of the political regime. The aim of the thesis is to determine the most problematic aspects of the transformation of the Rozvadov municipality after 1989 from the perspective of the local inhabitants (but not exclusively).
