Vse toplejše zime so smučišče Španov vrh nad Jesenicami pahnile v nazadovanje in zimski turizem na Planini pod Golico na rob propada. Pri morebitnem oživljanju zimskega turizma se v luči novih podnebnih razmer postavlja vprašanje smotrnosti vlaganja v klasični zimski turizem. Prispevek analizira trende temperature zraka v zimskih mesecih in trende snežne odeje na Planini pod Golico z namenom ugotoviti smiselnost razvoja zimskega turizma. V sklepnem delu so navedeni predlogi za novo, trajnostno obliko turistične ponudbe na Planini pod Golico na osnovi lokalnih potencialov.

Abstract:

Istraživanje kemijskog sastava i kvalitete plodova sedam sorti jabuka na šest M podloga obavljena su tijekom dvije godine u pokusnom voćnjaku na Fakultetskom pokusnom i nastavnom dobru Jazbina kraj Zagreba. Istraživanja su provođena na sortama: Boskoop, Kanada, Jonathan, London pepping, Ljepocvjetka, Mašanka i Zlatna zimska parmenka cijepljenih na podlogama: M 1, M 2, M 4, M 5, M 9 i M 11. Pokusni voćnjak podignut je po metodi randomiziranog bloka u četiri repeticije. U svakoj repeticiji bilo je zastupljeno po pet stabala u kombinaciji sorta podloga, odnosno 20 stabala svake sorte na svakoj podlozi. Stabla s kojih su uzimani uzorci plodova za analizu uzgojena su u obliku popravljene vaze, a bila su dobro razvijena i u punoj rodnosti. Istraživanja su obuhvatila: topivu suhu tvar, ukupne šećere, titracijsku kiselost, jabučnu kiselinu i pH vrijednost. Kvaliteta plodova određena je analizom sklada između količine ukupnih šećera (g/l) i količine jabučne kiseline (g/l) po metodi Thiault. Pod utjecajem podloge nisu utvrđene signifikantne razlike u količini ukupnih šećera i kiselina u plodovima istraživanih sorti. Manje razlike u količini ukupnih šećera i kiselina utvrđene su pod utjecajem klimatskih prilika godine, ali ne i pod utjecajem podloge u istoj godini. Po količini ukupnih šećera istraživane sorte možemo svrstati u tri skupine. Najviše, odnosno podjednako, ukupnih šećera sadrže plodovi Boskopa i Kanade (od 14,5 do 15,0 %), zatim plodovi Zlatne zimske parmenke (od 13,0 do 13,9), a podjednako plodovi Ljepocvjetke, Jonathana, London peppinga i Mašanke (od 11,5 do 12,5). Između naznačene tri skupine sorata utvrđena je signifikantna razlika na razini LSD P=5%. Najviše kiseline sadrže plodovi Boskopa i Kanade (od 6,5 do 7,5 g/l), zatim Zlatne zimske parmenke (od 5,5 do 6,0 g/l), podjednako Jonathana i Ljepocvjetke, (4,5 do 5,0 g/l), a najmanje, odnosno podjednako Mašanke i London pepping (3,5 do 4,5 g/l). Između tri skupine sorti utvrđena je signifikantna razlika na razini LSD P=5%. Istim redoslijedom razvrstani su plodovi po kvaliteti na osnovi odnosa šećera (g/l) i jabučne kiseline (g/l).

Abstract:

The importance of mantle thickness in the long-term survival of cemented femoral components remains controversial. One complexity in evaluating mantle thickness alone is the dominating fact that so many other factors can influence the incidence of failure. Nonetheless, a cement grading system has been applied to the assessment of the intermediate and long-term follow-up series of the following cemented femoral stem designs HD-2 (Howmedica, Rutherford, NJ), CAD (Howmedica, Rutherford, NJ), Precoat (Zimmer, Warsaw, IN), Iowa (Zimmer, Warsaw, IN), Ti32 (Zimmer, Warsaw, IN), and DF80 (Zimmer, Warsaw, IN). In each series, a statistically significant increased risk of failure was found in those cases with cement mantles that were thin or deficient. While these data do not mean that all such cases fail, the data strongly support the concept of avoiding such deficiencies in the cement mantle of these stem designs.

Analysis of short-term (5 - 8 years) and mid-term (10 - 14 years) results of primary total hip replacement using cemented and uncemented fixation implants of foreign (Zimmer) and home (Endoservice) serial production. The study was based on the results of 2620 surgical interventions (2911 operations, out of them 1512 - with ESI, 1399 - with Zimmer implants) performed in two independent clinics. Revision intervention due to aseptic loosening of implant components was required in 62 (ESI) and 66 (Zimmer) cases and the terms of that complication development were practically the same. In 5 to 8 years after operation excellent, good and satisfactory results (70 - 100 points by Harris) were observed in 95.2% of patients operated on using ESI implants and in 94.8% of patients - with Zimmer implants. Abstract:

Abstract John T. Zimmer described Xiphorhynchus necopinus (Zimmer's Woodcreeper) as a sibling species of the more widespread Xiphorhynchus picus (Straight-billed Woodcreeper). Despite his initial suspicion that a preexisting name (kienerii) could be applied to the new species he described, Zimmer discarded that possibility without directly examining the type of X. p. kienerii housed at the Museum National D'Histoire Naturelle in Paris, France. We studied plumage and measured wing chord and tail lengths of the type specimen of X. p. kienerii, comparing it with series of specimens of X. necopinus and X. picus. We show that X. necopinus and the type of X. p. kienerii are morphologically and morphometrically indistinguishable, and thus necopinus is synonymized with kienerii, the name that has priority. Because Zimmer mistakenly applied the name kienerii to a western Amazonian population of X. picus, most specimens in museums identified as X. p. kienerii after Zimmer's review (Zimmer 1934) are likely to refer to X. p. peruvianus.

Le modèle souvent relayé dans la littérature dominante sur Hans Zimmer, mettant en valeur la masculinité et le caractère épique de la musique de Zimmer, le son massif et puissant de ses partitions, et l’omniprésence d’une pulsation rythmique marquée tend à délaisser tout un pan de l’approche zimmerienne de la composition cinématographique et s’avère peu adéquat pour analyser les partitions les plus récentes du compositeur qui ne correspondent pas à ce schème. C’est le cas, en particulier, d’Interstellar, dont la bande-son excède largement ce cadre général prédéfini. Nous montrerons comment le traitement de la musique place l’humain au coeur du film, et de quelles manières Zimmer fait des liens entre Cooper et sa fille Murph le point de mire de sa partition. En filigrane, notre étude propose, à partir de l’exemple de ce film, une autre approche de l’esthétique du compositeur, qui se veut complémentaire au modèle dominant en invitant à repenser la filmographie de Zimmer – y compris son versant épique – sous un angle riche et ouvert.

Abstract:

In the 1880s the Kurfürstendamm was developed with opulent apartments for Berlin's Grossbürgertum, or haute bourgeoisie. It was designed to be the counterpart to the Champs-Elysées. Luxury Apartments with a Tenement Heart: The Kurfürstendamm and the Berliner Zimmer analyses the plans of these apartments, whose dining rooms—called Berliner Zimmer—retained a planning peculiarity from Berlin's infamous tenements, or Mietskaserne. Through careful comparison, Douglas Mark Klahr shows that the Berliner Zimmer interrupted the circulation pattern for visitors and residents in a manner and to a degree not seen in comparable Parisian residences of the same period. Although building ordinances and economics shaped important aspects of Berlin's domestic architecture, this humble plan feature endured in the architecture of the wealthy because of the rootedness of Grossbürgertum identity in the values and architecture of the lower middle and working classes.

Abstract:

This study critically investigated and analysed mathematical errors made by forty rural and urban Zimbabwe Ordinary Level students who wrote a test adopted from the ZIMSEC 2012 past examination paper (4008/1). Twenty students at a rural school in Shurugwi District and twenty students of similar characteristics (except for location or district) at an urban school in Gweru District were randomly sampled. Questions 1 and 7 (arithmetic and algebraic manipulations), 2 and 21 (psychomotor skills- measurement, shading, locus and geometric constructions) and 8 and 15 (word problems) were purposively sampled and students’ written and marked scripts were subjected to a critical analysis of errors. The errors were classified into eight categories proposed by Dufresne (2012) and these were error in knowledge, error in skill, error in concept, error in making connections, error in strategy effectiveness, error in convention, error in process and error in format. Mixed methods (QUAL-quan, content and interpretivist) analyses of errors made by the rural students and those made by the urban students were made. The study offers possible strategies that teachers in rural and urban areas can use to rectify students’ mathematical errors in the classroom situation and contributes to the body of knowledge on mathematical error analysis.

Abstract:

<div><p><em>The study investigated the English as a Second Language (ESL) teachers’ perceptions on the relationship between code-switching and emerging varieties of English called New Englishes, as well as the teachers’ perceptions on the teaching of such local varieties of English. The inquiry adopted a qualitative research paradigm and focused on two purposively sampled secondary schools comprising one rural day, and one urban boarding school. Four ESL teachers were interviewed (two teachers per school). The inquiry revealed that there was unanimous agreement among the four teachers that there is a relationship between code-switching and New Englishes. In addition, two of the teachers expressed the view that there is nothing wrong with teaching the local variety of English in the schools, while the other two said they preferred the teaching of Standard English.The study recommends that language policy planners in Zimbabwe consider adopting a balance of the endo-normative and the exo-normative models of English for the education system. Such a model, while acknowledging the importance of Standard English, would not undermine the importance of the local variety of English. In addition, the inquiry recommends that the Zimbabwe School Examinations Council (ZIMSEC) be sensitive to aspects of the local variety of English rather than set exo-normative models. Finally, the study recommends that further research be done on the perceptions of ESL teachers on the teaching of Standard English and New Englishes in school types which were not included in the sample for the present study.</em></p></div>

Abstract:

S obzirom na geografski položaj zemalja u kojima se odvija rad- nja Ilijade i Odiseje trebalo bi očekivati da ćemo se u njima samo izuzetno susretati s motivom zime. I doista, to vrijedi za Odiseju, ali u pjesnika Ilijade taj motiv, kako znamo, nije baš tako rijedak. Stoga su takva mjesta privukla našu pažnju te će biti predmetom ovoga članka. Slika zime sa svojim popratnim pojavama: snijegom, ledom, mra- zom i dr. — toliko naravna za našega čovjeka, na Mediteranu je, razumljivo, rijedak doživljaj, koji u Grku Homerova vremena stvara sasvim drukčiji ugođaj nego u nama. Homerov se Grk ne veseli zimi, a zimske oborine izazivlju u njemu osjećaj straha i nelagodnosti; u njima on vidi gnjev bogova i opasnost po svoj život. To vrijedi osobito za snijeg, uz koji je u Homera — pored predodžbe o dalekim, hladnim zemljama i visokim, nepristupačnim planinama — vezana često slika neprijateljskih junaka i djelovanja neprijateljskoga oružja.
