Abstract:
The composition and diversity of the rhizosphere microbial community maintain the stability of the root microclimate, and several studies have focused on this aspect of rhizosphere microorganisms. However, how these communities vary with cultivars of a species is not completely understood. Paeonia lactiflora—a perennial herb species of the family Paeoniaceae—includes a wide variety of cultivars, with rich rhizosphere microbial resources. Hence, we studied the differences in rhizosphere bacterial communities associated with eight P. lactiflora cultivars. We noted that Actinobacteria, Proteobacteria, Acidobacteria, Bacteroidetes, Firmicutes, Verrucomicrobia, Planctomycetes and Chloroflexi were the dominant phyla associated with the cultivars. The composition of rhizosphere bacterial community of different cultivars was highly similar at taxonomic levels, but there were slightly differences in the relative abundance. LEfSe analysis showed that the cultivars “Sheng Tao Hua” and “Zi Lou Xian Jin” exhibited the most biomarkers. Differential ASV analysis revealed the maximum difference in ASV abundance between “Lian Tai” and “Zi Hong Zheng Hui”, as well as between “Sheng Tao Hua” and “Tao Hua Fei Xue”, and the maximum similarity between “Duo Ye Zi” and “Xue Feng”. Co-occurrence network analysis revealed that rhizosphere bacteria in most cultivars maintain homeostasis by cooperation, wherein Actinobacteria and Proteobacteria played a vital role. In addition, microbial resources related to cultivars like bioremediation, organic degradation and resistance to diseases are found. This study revealed the structures of the rhizosphere bacterial communities associated with different cultivars of P. lactiflora and explored their stress resistance potential, which can be used to guide future agricultural practices.

Abstract:
The article considers the work of the Chinese poet Hai Zi (mostly based on works not translated into Russian) as a characteristic example of the spiritual and artistic influence of Sergei Yesenin's work on modern Chinese poetry. The poetic dialogue of Hai Zi and S. Yesenin is considered from the point of view of tanatological poetics, which allows us to present their work as a single meta text, developing various variations of tanatopoetics in order to achieve absolute self-identification by synthesising “self” – death – art. The category of death is considered as the integral basis of the work of S. Yesenin and Hai Zi, which ultimately leads to the realisation of their personal attitude to death as the ontological, epistemological and axiological basis of life and creative work. The article justifies that the “romance with death” of S. Yesenin and Hai Zi is a manifestation of their life-building strategy, consonances in motif and figuration are revealed in the aspect of tanatological poetics, taking into account the different nature of those motifs: the spontaneous-organic feeling of death in S. Yesenin and the tanatological ideology of Hai Zi, based on the synthesis of Western philosophy, Confucianism, Taoism. Particular attention is paid to the consideration of S.Yesenin's poem “The Black Man” and the poem “Spring. Ten Hai Zi” as works that expose the key settings of the poets' tanatological discourse, as well as an analysis of Hai Zi's poem "Life Was Interrupted" as prisms for the reinterpretation of S. Yesenin's life and work within the framework of the tanatological paradigm of "Chinese Yesenin" and the most important act of semiotisation of life and creative work of the Chinese youth, when suicide is positioned as the final statement.

Abstract:
For a long period, the development of Chinese literature is characterized by the continuity of artistic tradition. Chinese poetry of the reform and opening-up era draws profound interest, as it reflects the transformations of modern age and worldview in the Chinese society. This article is dedicated to examination of the traditional images of Chinese literature in the lyrics of prominent Chinese poet of the late XX century Hai Zi (1964–1989). Since old days, the image of grain resembles the world of nature, fertility, cyclicity of life, symbol of ethno-poetic traditions associated with the motif of hard peasant labor. A remarkable representative of the Chinese poetry of “new generation”, whose works embody the spiritual pursuits of the era, is the poet Hai Zi. Along with the traditional motifs and images, he integrates the elements of the original concept. This article is first within the Russian Sinology to analyze the system of artistic images in the lyrics of Hai Zi. The conclusion is made that the artistic uniqueness of the works of Chinese poet, this image acquires the individual authorial content – the bearer of creative energy and active principle, the link between the world of nature and a human.

Abstract:
The poetic heritage of Sergei Esenin found its highest manifestation in the usage of the great Russian poet’s symbols and imagery in Chinese literary works. The first to resort to Esenin’s imagery and symbolism was the Chinese poet, Hai-zi, who wrote a well-known poetic cyclus “Esenin, the Poet” and thereby laid the corner-stone of Esenin studies in China. The paper examines Hai-zi’s poetic cyclus dedicated to Esenin with the purpose of revealing the kinship of the two poets’ philosophic perception and interpretation of the world. The poems of Hai-zi have been translated by the author of the paper.

Abstract:
Abstract Introduction: Comprehensive molecular profiling with combined DNA-RNA next-generation sequencing (NGS) on tumor tissue is now increasingly being used as standard-of-care for sequence therapy selection to improve cancer survival. Combined DNA-RNA NGS is also considered standard-of-care for central nervous system (CNS) tumor classification. Despite the genetic heterogeneity and diversity of cancers, most commercial combined DNA/RNA NGS assays are validated in Western populations, resulting in knowledge gaps in patient outcomes. We report here for the first time a range of actionable outcomes from a comprehensive DNA/RNA tissue NGS assay designed specifically to probe Asian-prevalent cancers and biomarkers in an international multicenter real-world study in Asia. Methods: 1,002 formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded tissue samples from 995 Asian cancer patients across >70 centers in 7 countries and/or territories underwent real-world DNA/RNA NGS testing in a CAP-accredited CLIA-certified laboratory. Genomic alterations including SNVs, INDELS, gene fusions, CNVs, TMB, and MSI were analyzed using an Asian-centric pan-cancer hybrid-capture NGS panel that comprehensively profiles 572 cancer-related genes and 91 RNA fusion partners (UNITED). Biomarkers were considered actionable if the therapeutic indication in any solid tumor or hematological cancer was FDA-approved, guidelines-recommended, or supported by well-powered phase III clinical trials. Results: 27 cancer types were represented in 1,002 tissue samples, with lung, breast, colorectal, and prostate cancers comprising 45.5% of clinical volume. 79.5% of samples harbored ≥1 actionable biomarker, with the most frequently altered genes being TP53, KRAS, PIK3CA, EGFR, and NF1. Overall, 42.6% of samples had ≥1 biomarker with an indication in the patient’s cancer type, including 81.5% of lung, 59.0% of breast, 61.8% of colorectal, and 42.1% of prostate cancers. Across the pan-cancer cohort, 13.3% was TMB-high and 1.9% was MSI-high. 26.3% of samples were from cancer types outside the original assay design; the top 3 were pancreatic cancer (7.3%), sarcoma (3.3%), and CNS tumor (3.1%). Cancers of unknown primary (CUP) also constituted a significant proportion (3.8%). In CNS tumors, 38.7% harbored an actionable mutation in IDH1, BRAF, or H3-3A. In CUP, 78.8% harbored an actionable mutation; 50% of samples harbored biomarkers that additionally informed potential tumor origin, including mutations in EGFR, MET, ALK, ROS1, and BRCA1. Conclusion: The use of an Asian-focused pan-cancer DNA/RNA NGS panel resulted in detection of actionable biomarkers in 79.5% of clinical cases. These findings support the utility of DNA/RNA NGS assays in informing standard-of-care therapeutic decisions in Asian cancer patients for maximizing cancer survival. Abstract:
This paper focuses on exploring the relationship between the human body, mind, and the universe as seen in “Huai nan zi”, and identifying its integrated points. Through this, it seeks to gain insights into the essence of ancient Chinese philosophy and culture while finding clues to solve various problems that humanity faces today. In the first chapter, it delves into the interconnectivity of humans, the Tao, and the universe. Through the sentences in “Huai nan zi”, it examines the nature and principles of the universe that ancient Chinese people had explored. Clearly recorded within are the characteristics of time, space, and the relative properties of all things, such as Yin and Yang. These people would have awakened to the world with the intuition that they themselves are microcosms, parts and wholes of the Tao. In the second chapter, the theme of the recognition of light and the regression to the interior is dealt with. It discusses that in the process of irradiating the human body with light to return to a state of complete purification, or true brightness, countless repetitions overcome all kinds of physical discomforts, which then extend to the realm of the inner mind. In the third chapter, it discusses the world sensitivity of a sage, based on the ontological insights of the self and the material. In the “Yuan dao xun” section of “Huai nan zi”, it is emphasized that the satisfaction that humans actually have does not lie in the external material enjoyment, but rather, one can feel the tranquility of the mind again when one focuses on the inner peace. It argues that through this, one can experience the value and beauty of life and reach the boundary of a higher dimension.

Abstract The Hua-Yi 華夷 system that spread in East Asia in the form of tribute relationships during the Ming dynasty [1368-1644] began as a system based on China’s perceived cultural superiority, but slowly evolved into a system centered on nationalism. Accordingly, the kinship networks embedded in the Hua-Yi system were also continually evolving, breaking down, and reforming in a cycle that repeated itself multiple times. Amid this process, ethnocentrism [zi minzu zhongxin zhuyi 自民族中心主義] and “interest centralism” [liyi zhongxin zhuyi 利益中心主義] played key roles in the formation and eventual dissolution of the Hua-Yi system.

Abstract:
Panax ginseng Meyer cv. Silvatica (PGS), which is also known as “Lin-Xia-Shan-Shen” or “Zi-Hai” in China, is grown in forests and mountains by broadcasting the seeds of ginseng and is harvested at the cultivation age of 15–20 years. In this study, four new dammarane-type triterpenoids, ginsengenin-S1 (1), ginsengenin-S2 (2), ginsenoside-S3 (3), ginsenoside-S4 (4), along with one known compound were isolated from pearl knots of PGS. Ginsengenin-S2 significantly alleviated oxidative damage when A549 cells were exposed to cigarette smoke (CS) extract. In addition, ginsengenin-S2 could inhibit the CS-induced inflammatory reaction in A549 cells. Protective effects of ginsengenin-S2 against CS-mediated oxidative stress and the inflammatory response in A549 cells may involve the Nrf2 and HDAC2 pathways.

Potted plants of cultivars 'Haak Yip' (Hei Ye), 'Tai So' (Da Zao) and 'Bengal' were grown in temperature-controlled glasshouse rooms at 10, 15, 20, 25, 30 or 35C to determine cardinal temperatures for various growth processes. At other times plants of cvv. 'Brewster' (Chen Zi), 'Kwai May Pink' and 'Wai Chee' (Huai Zhi) were grown at various constant temperatures and cvv. 'Tai So' and 'Wai Chee' were grown at 27/21C and 18/12C (12 h day/12 h night). A modified Richards' function accurately described leaflet elongation with time. Functions fitted to derived parameters of maximum relative elongation rate and duration allowed the accurate determination of minimum and optimum cardinal temperatures for leaflet elongation. The maximum temperature for leaf elongation was well in excess of 35C. Other processes studied included shoot elongation, increase in leaf area per plant, dry matter (DM) production, new shoot DM, DM partitioning between roots, shoots and leaves, flush periodicity, leaf morphology and total non-structural carbohydrate (TNSC) status. The minimum temperatures were similar for different processes whereas the optimum temperatures determined were different. These are compared, along with data from published studies on other physiological processes of lychee. Leaflet elongation occurred at a significantly higher optimum temperature than DM accumulation, a difference which could not be attributed to effects of temperature on partitioning, and is probably facilitated by the recurrent flushing mode of growth of lychee. There were few differences between the cultivars. 'Haak Yip' growth appeared to be more tolerant of high temperatures than 'Tai So' or 'Bengal' and 'Bengal' had higher leaf concentrations of TNSC at moderate to high temperatures. A model relating shoot periodicity to temperature (heat units) is suggested which could help in studying the relationship between flushing and flower initiation.

Abstract:
Both Chinese and Russian scholars studied the influence of Sergei Yesenin’s poetic heritage on Chinese poetry ingeneral and the works of Hai Zi, in particular. Yet little attention has been so far given to the spiritual connection between Yesenin’s poetic world vision and that of the modern representatives of the so-called “rustic” poetry. The paper traces the influence of Yesenin on the inherent qualities of modern “rustic” Chinese poetry — on its thematic scope, imagery, tonality. Since modern Chinese poetry is characterized by genre and style variations, the paper offers five vers libre translations of well-known contemporary Chinese poets. The article is expected to draw attention to the necessity of looking for adequate ways of rendering in Russian the philosophic and emotional impact of modern “rustic” poetry and its tonality.

Abstract:
Abstract In this study, we investigated the underlying mechanism of action of methyl-cantharidimide (MCA), a cantharidin (CTD) analog, as an anticancer drug, in resistant cancer cells overexpressing either ABCB1 or ABCG2 and in cisplatin-resistant cancer cells. The results indicated that: (i) MCA was efficacious in the ABCB1-overexpressing cell line, KB-C2, the ABCG2-overexpressing cell line, NCI-H460/MX20 and in the cisplatin resistant cancer cell lines, KCP-4 and BEL-7404/CP20; (ii) MCA induced apoptosis in both BEL-7404 and BEL-7404/CP20 cancer cells and arrested both BEL-7404 and BEL-7404/CP20 cancer cells in the G0/G1 phase of the cell cycle; (iii) MCA upregulated the expression level of the protein, unc-5 netrin receptor B (UNC5B) in HepG2 and BEL-7404 cancer cells. (iv) MCA can activate UNC5B-Netrin-1-DAPK apoptosis pathway in hepatocellular carcinoma cells. Overall, our results indicated that MCA's efficacy in multiple cancer cell lines is due to the activation of UNC5B-Netrin-1-DAPK apoptosis pathway and cell cycle arrest in the G0/G1 phase. Abstract:
Background: Pancreatic cancer is a difficult-to-treat cancer with a late presentation and poor prognosis. Some patients seek traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) consultation. We aimed to investigate the benefits of complementary Chinese herbal medicine (CHM) among patients with pancreatic cancer in Taiwan. Methods: We included all patients with pancreatic cancer who were registered in the Taiwanese Registry for Catastrophic Illness Patients Database between 1997 and 2010. We used 1:1 frequency matching by age, sex, the initial diagnostic year of pancreatic cancer, and index year to enroll 386 CHM users and 386 non-CHM users. A Cox regression model was used to compare the hazard ratios (HRs) of the risk of mortality. The Kaplan-Meier curve was used to compare the difference in survival time. Results: According to the Cox hazard ratio model mutually adjusted for CHM use, age, sex, urbanization level, comorbidity, and treatments, we found that CHM users had a lower hazard ratio of mortality risk (adjusted HR = 0.67, 95% CI = 0.56-0.79). Those who received CHM therapy for more than 90 days had significantly lower hazard ratios of mortality risk than non-CHM users (90- to 180-day group: adjusted HR = 0.56, 95% CI = 0.42-0.75; >180-day group: HR = 0.33, 95% CI = 0.24-0.45). The survival probability was higher for patients in the CHM group. Bai-hua-she-she-cao (Herba Oldenlandiae; Hedyotis diffusa Spreng) and Xiang-sha-liu-jun-zi-tang (Costus and Chinese Amomum Combination) were the most commonly used single herb and Chinese herbal formula, respectively. Conclusions: Complementary Chinese herbal therapy might be associated with reduced mortality among patients with pancreatic cancer. Further prospective clinical trial is warranted.

Abstract:
Abstract While topotecan (TPT) is a chemotherapeutic drug in treating lung cancer, the development of TPT resistance in tumors reserves as a major obstacle to chemotherapeutic success. Therefore, a better understanding of the mechanisms of TPT resistance is critical. In this study, the first topotecan-resistant human non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) cell line, termed NCI-H460/TPT10, was established from the parental NCI-H460 cell line. NCI-H460/TPT10 cells exhibited a 394.7-fold resistance to TPT, and cross-resistance to SN-38, mitoxantrone, and doxorubicin, compared to parental NCI-H460 cells. Overexpression of ABCG2 localized on the cell membrane, but not ABCB1 or ABCC1, was found in NCI-H460/TPT10 cells, indicating that ABCG2 was likely to be involved in TPT-resistance. This was confirmed by the abolishment of drug resistance in NCI-H460/TPT10 cells after ABCG2 knockout. Moreover, the involvement of functional ABCG2 as a drug efflux pump conferring multidrug resistance (MDR) was indicated by low intracellular accumulation of TPT in NCI-H460/TPT10 cells, and the reversal effects by ABCG2 inhibitor Ko143 and cabozantinib. The NCI-H460/TPT10 and its parental cell line were further used to establish in vivo tumor xenograft mouse models, which verified their capability to serve as clinically relevant models for drug screening and the development of targeted strategies to overcome ABCG2-mediated MDR in NSCLC. Abstract:
Abstract Background: AMG510, a novel KRAS G12C mutation-specific inhibitor approved in 2021 by FDA, was the first therapy to directly target the KRAS oncoprotein in KRAS-mutant cancers with other direct KRAS G12C inhibitors currently being investigated in multiple clinical trials. However, the emergence of resistance in patients who initially were responsive is a challenge. Uncovering the underlying mechanism of resistance would support the identification and development of novel therapies to overcome drug resistance. In this study, we generated a panel of KRAS G12C inhibitor-resistant tumor models by introducing a secondary KRAS mutation on top of G12C for use as in vitro and in vivo tools to develop possible strategies to overcome such resistance. Methods: First, by using CRISPR/Cas9, we introduced a secondary KRAS mutation, including Y96C, Y96D and Y96S in MIA PaCa, which harbours a homozygous KRAS G12C mutation. Point mutation knock-in was validated by sanger sequencing and cell identity was confirmed by SNP. Then cell viability was measured by CellTiter-Glo after 5 days incubation with AMG510 and MRTX849. RAS-MAPK pathway activity was assessed in the parental and mutant cell lines Y96D by Western blot. Xenograft of MIA PaCa KRAS G12C/Y96D cells l was also established. Results: Successful homozygous point mutation knock-in was achieved as confirmed by sanger sequencing. The double mutant cells displayed the similar growth rate as well as the morphology. In cell viability assays, relative to KRAS G12C parental cells, cells expressing the double-mutant alleles showed marked resistance to AMG510 and MRTX849. Consistent with the effects on cell viability, persistent phosphorylated ERK (pERK) and pRSK levels was also observed in KRAS G12C/Y96D expressing cells even at high concentrations of MRTX849, indicating sustained RAS-MAPK activity. In addition, MIA PaCa-KRAS G12C/Y96D was able to grow in vivo and will be used for pharmacological evaluation of KRAS inhibitors. Conclusion: These double-mutant cells can be used to assess preclinical in vitro/in vivo efficacy of KRAS-targeted therapeutics. Crown Bioscience is in the process of developing a series of KRAS G12C inhibitor-resistant cell lines to better facilitate efficacy testing of KRAS-targeted therapeutics. Abstract:
Abstract Background: Currently, epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR)-tyrosine kinase inhibitors (TKIs) have been proved to significantly improve the clinical outcome of patients with EGFR-mutant non-small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC). Icotinib is an oral, reversible and selective first-generation EGFR-TKI. The survival benefits of 1-year and 2-year adjuvant icotinib in patients with EGFR-mutant NSCLC have been confirmed in previous studies. However, the optimal duration of adjuvant icotinib remains unknown. This study (ICAPE) evaluated the efficacy of 1.5-year adjuvant therapy with icotinib for patients with stage IIA-IIIA EGFR-mutant non-small-cell lung adenocarcinoma. Methods: Patients with stage IIA-IIIA EGFR-mutant non-small-cell lung adenocarcinoma were enrolled in the multicenter, open-label, single-arm, phase II study. Eligible patients received oral icotinib 125 mg thrice daily for 1.5 years after complete surgical resection. Primary endpoint was disease-free survival (DFS). Secondary endpoints included 1-year, 3-year, as well as 5-year OS rates, and the DFS according to the BIM mutation status (mutant-type and wild-type) and EGFR mutation types (19 del and 21 L858R). Results: Between March 2014 and January 2018, 79 patients were enrolled. The median follow-up time was 39.7 months with a median DFS and overall survival (OS) of 41.4 months (95% CI: 33.6-51.8) and 67.0 months (95% CI: 21.2-not reached [NR]), respectively. The 1-year, 3-year and 5-year OS rates were 100%, 83.3%, and 61.7%, respectively. No significant difference was found in the median DFS between patients with Bcl-2 interacting mediator of cell death (BIM) mutant-type and wild-type (NR vs. 41.7 months; p=0.75) and no significant difference was found in the median DFS according to EGFR mutation types (all p>0.05). Conclusions: The phase II ICAPE study demonstrated that 1.5-year adjuvant therapy with icotinib had a favorable survival benefit in patients with stage IIA-IIIA EGFR-mutant non-small-cell lung adenocarcinoma with a long median DFS and high 5-year OS rates which is consistent with other icotinib’s study. Icotinib is suggested to be used as an adjuvant therapy option in IIA-IIIA EGFR-mutant non-small-cell lung adenocarcinoma. Abstract:
Abstract Background Viola philippica Cav. is the only source plant of “Zi Hua Di Ding”, which is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) that is utilized as an antifebrile and detoxicant agent for the treatment of acute pyogenic infections. Historically, many Viola species with violet flowers have been misused in “Zi Hua Di Ding”. Viola have been recognized as a taxonomically difficult genera due to their highly similar morphological characteristics. Here, all common V. philippica adulterants were sampled. A total of 24 complete chloroplast (cp) genomes were analyzed, among these 5 cp genome sequences were downloaded from GenBank and 19 cp genomes, including 2 “Zi Hua Di Ding” purchased from a local TCM pharmacy, were newly sequenced. Results The Viola cp genomes ranged from 156,483 bp to 158,940 bp in length. A total of 110 unique genes were annotated, including 76 protein-coding genes, 30 tRNAs, and four rRNAs. Sequence divergence analysis screening identified 16 highly diverged sequences; these could be used as markers for the identification of Viola species. The morphological, maximum likelihood and Bayesian inference trees of whole cp genome sequences and highly diverged sequences were divided into five monophyletic clades. The species in each of the five clades were identical in their positions within the morphological and cp genome tree. The shared morphological characters belonging to each clade was summarized. Interestingly, unique variable sites were found in ndhF, rpl22, and ycf1 of V. philippica, and these sites can be selected to distinguish V. philippica from samples all other Viola species, including its most closely related species. In addition, important morphological characteristics were proposed to assist the identification of V. philippica. We applied these methods to examine 2 “Zi Hua Di Ding” randomly purchased from the local TCM pharmacy, and this analysis revealed that the morphological and molecular characteristics were valid for the identification of V. philippica. Conclusions This study provides invaluable data for the improvement of species identification and germplasm of V. philippica that may facilitate the application of a super-barcode in TCM identification and enable future studies on phylogenetic evolution and safe medical applications.

Abstract:
The Luo-hua-zi-zhu (LHZZ) granule has been widely used for the treatment of colorectal adenoma (CRA), which is a precursor of colorectal cancer (CRC). However, the active components of LUZZ and its mechanism of action against CRA have not yet been elucidated. This study was designed to investigate the effect of LHZZ on CRA and explore its pharmacological mechanisms. First, a total of 24 chemical constituents were identified in the 50% aqueous methanol extract of LHZZ granule based on the mass fragment patterns and mass spectral library using the high resolution UPLC-Q-TOF MS/MS system. Subsequently, based on a network pharmacology study, 16 bioactive compounds and 28 targets of the LHZZ associated with CRA were obtained, forming a compound-target network. Molecular docking tests showed tight docking of these compounds with predicted targeted proteins. The protein–protein interaction (PPI) network identified AKT1, CASP3, TP53 and EGFR as hub targets. The Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes pathway network and pathway-target-compound network revealed that the apoptosis pathway was enriched by multiple signaling pathways and multiple targets, including the hub targets. Finally, the reliability of the core targets was evaluated using molecular docking technology and in vitro studies. Our study indicated that the LHZZ particle has preventive and treatment effect on colorectal adenoma through multi-component, multi-target and multi-pathway.

Abstract:
Abstract Within a multimodal framework, this study investigates the images of Zhuangzi (author of the Chinese Classic 莊子 Zhuangzi) represented by the front covers of both the comic adaptation 莊子説 Zhuangzi Shuo and its three translations. It is found these covers represent different images of Zhuangzi through processes of recontextualization. In the Chinese adaptation Zhuangzi Shuo, Zhuangzi, while being emphasized as a revered ancient Chinese philosopher, is remolded from an author into a funny speaker absorbed in expressing his thoughts regardless of whether there is any audience. In Zhuangzi Speaks, an English translation published in America, Zhuangzi is repackaged as a friendly interlocutor sharing with readers his thoughts. In The Sayings of Zhuang Zi, another English translation published in Singapore, Zhuangzi is reshaped as a historical figure for detached observation, one frustrated by chaos in reality and investing his thought into his writing. In Lehrsprüche des Dschuang Dsi, a German translation translated indirectly from the Singaporean one, Zhuangzi, while being a historical figure for detached observation as well, is re-reshaped as a reputable Chinese sage, who is old-fashioned but accessible. Differences in these images can be ascribed to diverse perceptions of comics and Zhuangzi in the countries concerned.

Abstract:
Qi Ju Di Huang Wan (Lycium Fruit, Chrysanthemum and Rehmannia Pill) nourishes Liver and Kidney Yin. This formula has similar actions as Liu Wei Di Huang Wan (Six-Ingredient Pill with Rehmannia) to tonify Yin, however, it has a stronger ability to nourish Liver Yin and treat visual disorders. The original source of Qi Ju Di Huang Wan is from the Yi Ji (Levels of Medicine). Qi Ju Di Huang Wan is composed of the same six herbs as Liu Wei Di Huang Wan (Six-Ingredient Pill with Rehmannia). Shu Di Huang (Rehmannia), the chief herb, tonifies Kidney Yin and Jing (Essence) and fills the marrow. Shan Zhu Yu (Cornus) nourishes the Liver and Kidney and astringes Jing. Shan Yao (Dioscorea) tonifies the Spleen, Kidney and consolidates Jing. Together, these three tonic herbs address deficiencies in the Kidney, Liver and Spleen. Ze Xie (Alisma) sedates the Kidney, causes turbidity to descend, and controls the stagnating effect of Shu Di Huang (Rehmannia). Mu Dan Pi (Cortex Moutan) sedates Deficiency Fire of the Liver, as well as balances the astringent property of Shan Zhu Yu (Cornus). Fu Ling (Poria) strengthens the Spleen, resolves Dampness and balances Shan Yao (Dioscorea). In addition, it contains two herbs Gou Qi Zi (Fructus Lycii) and Ju Hua (Flos Chrysanthemi), that function to improve vision and treat various ocular disorders.

Abstract:
The 10 suns bathing relates to sun worship. The story of the suns bathing and then emerging from the water has likely become one of a fish changing into a bird, becoming a winged sun, and then flying off from the tree branches. When icons and documents such as Chu Ci (楚辞), the Chu (楚) silk paintings, Shan Hai Jing (山海經), and the Mawangdui (馬王堆) silk paintings are brought together, this outline can be drawn. In doing so, the “ Fu Yao (扶揺)” is not the “wind” in Guo Xiang’s (郭象) annotation; it is best to understand the “ Fu Yao (扶揺)” in Xiaoyaoyou (逍遙遊) and the “ Fu Yao (扶揺) branches” in the Zaiyou (在宥) text to both be akin to “ Fusang (扶桑).”

"Characterization of ginsenosides from Panax japonicus var. major (Zhu-Zi-Shen) based on ultra-high performance liquid chromatography/quadrupole time-of-flight mass spectrometry and desorption electrospray ionization-mass spectrometry imaging." Abstract:
Abstract Background Panax japonicus var. major (PJM) belongs to the well-known ginseng species used in west China for hundreds of years, which has the effects of lung tonifying and yin nourishing, and exerts the analgesic, antitussive, and hemostatic activities. Compared with the other Panax species, the chemical composition and the spatial tissue distribution of the bioactive ginsenosides in PJM have seldom been investigated. Methods Ultra-high performance liquid chromatography/quadrupole time-of-flight mass spectrometry (UHPLC/QTOF-MS) and desorption electrospray ionization-mass spectrometry imaging (DESI-MSI) were integrated for the systematic characterization and spatial tissue distribution studies of ginsenosides in the rhizome of PJM. Considering the great difficulty in exposing the minor saponins, apart from the conventional Auto MS/MS (M1), two different precursor ions list-including data-dependent acquisition (PIL-DDA) approaches, involving the direct input of an in-house library containing 579 known ginsenosides (M2) and the inclusion of the target precursors screened from the MS1 data by mass defect filtering (M3), were developed. The in situ spatial distribution of various ginsenosides in PJM was profiled based on DESI-MSI with a mass range of m/z 100–1500 in the negative ion mode, with the imaging data processed by the High Definition Imaging (HDI) software. Results Under the optimized condition, 272 ginsenosides were identified or tentatively characterized, and 138 thereof were possibly not ever reported from the Panax genus. They were composed by 75 oleanolic acid type, 22 protopanaxadiol type, 52 protopanaxatriol type, 16 octillol type, 19 malonylated, 35 C-17 side-chain varied, and 53 others. In addition, the DESI-MSI experiment unveiled the differentiated distribution of saponins, but the main location in the cork layer and phloem of the rhizome. The abundance of the oleanolic acid ginsenosides was high in the rhizome slice of PJM, which was consistent with the results obtained by UHPLC/QTOF-MS. Conclusion Comprehensive characterization of the ginsenosides in the rhizome of PJM was achieved, with a large amount of unknown structures unveiled primarily. We, for the first time, reported the spatial tissue distribution of different subtypes of ginsenosides in the rhizome slice of PJM. These results can benefit the quality control and further development of PJM and the other ginseng species.
